Okay, I'm way late on the prompt thing, but if you happen to still take them - or as something to hold onto for later - I'd love to see a little snippet from the ill-fated cruise ship HC Legend worked on!

Hadn’t there… been a storm? What…?

Link squinted against the bright sunlight, feeling sore and overheated, strangely stationary but still somehow dizzy. He heard seagulls, and—

Seagulls??

Groaning, Link opened his eyes, the sun seeming to shine directly into his eyeballs. What had happened??

“Link? Oh, you’re finally awake!”

He knew that voice. “Marin?”

The familiar face appeared in his vision next, red hair nearly radiant in the sunlight. She looked haggard, clothes a little torn, face flushed, hair a mess. “Oh, Link, I’m so glad you’re okay!”

“We’re on a beach,” Link slurred, completely disoriented. “Did we…? Weren’t we in a storm?”

“We were,” Marin answered, shadows covering her face all of a sudden. “We were.”

The heaviness of her tone made him nervous. Sitting up, Link looked around, seeing several life rafts strewn along the beach, alongside a handful of other people in various states of disarray. He felt the bottom drop out of his stomach.

They were… they were stranded, weren’t they?

“The ship…?” He looked at her, asking for confirmation.

She shook her head. “It’s gone.”

He already knew, really. He could put the pieces together. But hearing her say it made him feel his entire world flip. What were they supposed to do? Who had survived? How had he even gotten here, anyway? He just remembered the storm.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” Marin repeated. “When you got thrown I was so worried.”

When he got thrown? He remembered huddling in the medical bay with Marin; they’d both known it was too dangerous to be anywhere on the deck, exposed to the weather. He must have hit something.

“How did I get here, though?” He asked.

“Well, you were awake for a bit, just kind of groggy,” Marin explained. “The captain said the ship was sinking, we all got on life rafts, but the storm flipped some and… we managed to make it here with the rest.”

“And the other medical crew?”

“They’re… they’re gone, Link. They’re all gone.”

Gone?? How could they--he knew those people, had worked with them, they were--

Link grimaced as he moved his arm, staring at a large gash slicing along it. Marin helpfully grabbed a first aid kit, noting, “This is all we have left for medical supplies. This and one other, that is. But… it isn’t much.”

It… he… they…

This was insane. This couldn't be happening.

Shaking his head, Link tried to orient himself to the situation, slowly straightening his posture as he reached shakily for the first aid kit. “How many others are injured?”

“A few,” Marin answered, hastily adding, “I’m okay, though, don’t worry.”

Link looked her over. She was certainly run down, but he didn’t see any immediate signs of injury. Based on her story, they… hadn’t been thrown around too much, right?

Right?

But how had he gotten this wound, then?

Shaking his head, Link tried to focus. “Can you help me triage the others?”

Marin nodded, determined, reaching to help him stand. Link refused to let everything sink in all at once.

They had work to do.

“Yeah, but it’s not as bad as it looks,” Twilight assured as he began tending to it, earning a smack from Four as he walked by.

“Twilight you could barely walk after we killed the thing, you would’ve bled out if you hadn’t had that potion,” the smithy said with a huff, and Twilight awkwardly scratched the back of his neck as Wind snorted.

So. Uh. I also don't have a playlist, but I'm a professional musician, so I listen to a lot of music, and the genre really does depend on the time of day, SO to prevent a single genre from dominating I'll mix up the top five from today and yesterday!

Falling Down (Mythos Remix/Remaster) [Mega Man Zero 4]

Oh boy. That guitar. That guitar, guys. I think I'm in love with this remaster. You can tell the musicians had a lot of fun bringing their A-game to this track to really bring it to life.

Aaron Copland's Old American Folk Songs, for Voice and Orchestra

Yeah, this is more than one song. Do I care? No. A set of 12 songs, all from old Americana and beautifully orchestrated by Copland, the quintessential American composer himself. They really do deserve a listen--the whole thing is only 25 minutes, and there's twelve songs, so each song is rather short.

Memoria! Zion's Theme + Vector to the Heavens! [Kingdom Hearts]

Where to even begin with this one. I began listening to it in high school, and I fell in love with Xion's theme (and Shimomura's writing) ever since. This particular rendition of it is still, to this day, my favorite. Not even the world orchestra version tops it. I'd buy it if I could.

This theme is a banger, and I will die on that hill. Began listening to that one in middle school by itself....and also laughing to the videos with what the Latin sounds like in English.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End OST [by Evan Call]

People have been talking about this anime (for good reason) but unfortunately a lot of the discourse doesn't talk about its soundtrack, which is a crying shame. Apparently Call spent two years composing it and you can really tell. It's absolutely gorgeous, heart-felt, and fits the cast and characters so well I can't read the manga anymore without hearing certain themes go off.

Bad Apple!! (remix by Alstroemeria Records) [Touhou Project]

Everyone knows the famous Touhou shadow music video, but not as many people know that it was actually just a stage theme for a boss in a 1998 Touhou video game! It's still a gorgeous song, and the animation only helped add to its popularity. It's still one that I go back and listen to regularly.

A Dusk Falls (ft. Yumi Kawamura from Fire Emblem Premium Arrange) [Fire Emblem Fates]

Probably one of my favorite themes in Fire Emblem. The tune itself always started off calm, before it became more intense, and it seems more so with the Arranged version and her vocals.

God Shattering Star [Fire Emblem Three Houses]

This is the final boss theme of the Golden Deer Route in the original Fire Emblem Three Houses, and it's certainly epic and fitting. I love the implication that it's the final boss singing - the vocals are only present when you're on the map making decisions, which then stop when you enter a fight, as if you're distracting him from his singing.

Hopeless Battle [Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds]

This is an unreleased track from the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, and it has a tendency to play during intense, emotional moments during battles. Still upsets me that it never got an official release, so fan-pieced versions are the only ones that we have unless we watch a segment it was played in in the show, but ah well.

Electrical Communication (by Ganasia) [Mega Man 8]

…I think I've been listening to this song since the early 2000s. It was played in the opening of the Japanese version of Mega Man 8, and it's very intense. In my head, this is basically a classic that is just GOOD.

Recently consumed basically all your LU in healthcare content, and the fact Legend has helped deliver two babies is sticking with me. In my head, he panics those first two times, but when he and Wars end up helping with a delivery in the ER and Wars has a freak out, he plays it totally cool like "what? You've never delivered a baby before?"

Anyway, thanks for the brain rot. I will cherish it always ❤️😂 happy Sabbath!

Hahaha yes, Warriors would absolutely freak out, childbirth is not at all in his comfort zone. Legend would take charge, be comforting to mom and handle the situation well, and Wars would have to admit defeat. For the next month, at least, anytime Wars tries to tease Legend he’d come back with some quip about the incident. “Oh, yes, at least I’m a competent ED nurse and don’t have a meltdown just because a woman’s giving birth,” and things akin to that 😂

Hi! How are you? How's life with the new baby going? Sending you virtual hugs to get through those long nights ❤️🫂

It's steadily getting better! Up until last week, he was still eating every two hours 😩😮‍💨 so I was only getting an hour or less of sleep at a time

Now he's stretching it to every 2.5-4, which has been really nice for my mental health and for trying - at least a little bit - to stay on top of housework

I appreciate the hugs!! I'll hold them close tonight 🥰 and send a few back to you! 🫂🫂

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

I've been writing fan fiction off and on since high school (although, at the time, I didn't know that was what I was doing 😅) My best friend and I would spend weekends holed up either in her room or mine, writing plays of our favorite show (we even wrote a pastiche musical!) Nerds that we were, we would then record those plays. I still have some of the tapes and scripts, and they are AWFUL! 🤣🤣

I can’t say. There’s been a few things 🤣

🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love

This is a tough one because there are a lot of authors that I love and read. I'd say my favorite story is one I first I read and bookmarked when I discovered the LoZ fandom:

A Hylian Romance by sillythings I like that it's told from the court poet's POV. He has a great character/story arc and some of his observations are really funny.

I'm going to recommend a newer author because I love their descriptive writing very much: CrepesnLasagna2

Another amazing October has gone. I'm not going to add on much, I think I said this well last year.

But please know that I meant and mean every word just as strongly- I love every artist and writer so much. Whether you did the October challenges or not, your art is amazing and wonderful- thank you so so much for sharing your gifts with me.

I'm going to again tag all the artists and writers I know and can think of- to say thank you!!! You and your art matter so much to me and everyone.

Yall have given me such a beautiful month! These month challenges, all the October ones, febwhump, prompt challenges throughout the year are so incredible... thank you guys. Thank you for your art and giving. This isn't over. We're still here together telling stories, and that's one of the most beautiful things l've ever seen.

If yall want to add on tagging each other again, thanking your friends and artists... I would love that.

There's one phrase I said last year that sticks in my mind... that artists and writers keep storytelling alive.

And you... or we.. do. I never thought I would receive enough acceptance on here to feel comfortable posting my art, but my artist friends encouraged me, and I too participated in linktober this year.

The ability to share my art in a month-long challenge proved to be such a blessing. Maybe we all can keep telling stories. Because in a world of such craziness with media, being able to come to this little corner of it, and see art and writing for free... well it's been a year and I can't say l've stopped being awed by it. By all of you. Whether you do any prompt challenges or not, and whether you finish them or not. Art and writing matters, and it matters so much that we're here enjoying creations together. Everyone deserves appreciation and love- so here I'm saying- I appreciate you and I love you.

Wait...

It's November. It's November first. Yesterday was October 31st, so October is over. ...it's over. Is it over?

Inktober, artober, whumptober, flufftober, linktober, every tag ending with -tober that's been circulating for the past month... is it over? I don't know why it's just hit me but...

This matters. So I will try to get the message across, even though I'm not the best at it sometimes

Fanartists, fan writers, artists, fic writers, people making comics, every single one of you that has created art for the past month...

This is my first October on tumblr. When I started seeing the "tober" tags, seeing the posts from artists with wips, saying they were going to make something every day to a prompt, making masterposts to update with each day, I thought "cool"

But every day this month, I have gotten on here and smiled.

And I don't mean smiled. I mean I smiled at least 20 times every time I got on the app because I saw all the art and fics. I got to see artists/writers connect stories through different day prompts. I saw people having the most brilliant ideas and creativity, flowing from their hands into their posts. I saw artists responding to continuous asks, telling them how amazing they are. I saw artists getting behind, and keeping going.

I saw Free. Beautiful. Emotional. Amazing. Original. Creative. Art.

Every day

I haven't committed to anything of this before, so I can't directly relate to what you guys were thinking and feeling. But I'm willing to guess; I think you probably enjoyed it, because most won't do such a huge project unless they enjoy it. I think you probably saw it as a challenge you were willing to fulfill, and an opportunity to grow and develop your skills.

... but I'm also willing to bet you did it for us. For people like me, who love art, but don't do this specific type, who are in fandoms, who love tracking and watching you art and sending you compliments, who take joy in your work. For the other artists (and writers!) who admire each others styles and love to learn from each other.

If anyone ever tries to tell me that humans are inherently evil again, I will strap them to a chair, pull up these posts and say look. Look at what these people did. Look me in the eyes and tell me these sorts of actions don't come from the most loving hearts. Tell me these people don't want to make others happy, that they aren't inherently good. And I will tell you you're wrong.

I have so much going on, yet somehow it slipped into my life that I was constantly looking at your art for the joy of it without me even noticing.

And how is it possible. That we have such a beautiful community of people here that we will share. And communicate. And exchange compliments. And literally do things and send asks solely for the purpose of making someone smile.

I'm almost crying by now. God I can't express it well enough! But I am so. So. Grateful

You guys brought me a month of joy! You gave headcanons, and art, and stories!

Even yesterday, Halloween, I was blown away. Because I had expected... I didn't expect anything. And then I log on and see people sending happy halloween asks, exchanging doodles of candy, and headcanons and gifs.

And some are still catching up to the schedule or whatever, and that's ok! But at the beginning of this post, when I was simply realizing it was November, I asked myself "is it over?"

Is it over?

... I don't think so. I've seen artists say they're going to continue and expand on a piece they made and especially liked this month. Some people are still continuing, catching up to a voluntary deadline. All those masterposts with your whump/fluff/link/ink tober art? I know many as well as myself will be going through, looking over your posts with smiles, catching up on some things they missed this month... it will continue in the people and artists I didn't know existed before, but now follow. In the skills and growth in creativity! In the community we've grown, and art you've made, and the art to come, at a normal rate like every other month, even if it's not October anymore!

But my artists, writers... thank you so much. I don't know if you guys know how valuable and amazing you are. How incredible it is that you exist! People say it's amazing we exist under a sky of such stars, but how incredible is it that you made a stranger on the internet smile every day! Your life is so. So. Valuable. I can't even express how grateful I am that you exist, that you somehow are selfless enough to share the most beautiful parts of yourself simply to create, and to create joy. Thank you so so much.

(And this applies to all artists, in any fandoms, not just mine. And I'm just as grateful to people who couldn't do something every day, or only one day! You still share your art, you're just as... incredible. You are incredible.)

So I'm gonna do this, and if others want to do it in the reblogs that's great! I do not care at all about reblogging or likes, but I want to make the people that have brought me such joy some appreciation- I hope I can bring you even a smidgen of the light you have brought into my life.
