Steve Rogers x Reader (avengers AU)

Steve was a patient man. Well… at least he thought he was. Likely moreso when he was little. Literally. When there’s not much you can do on your own, everything besides action becomes waiting. So he was used to being patient, but not necessarily good at it. No longer practiced. Because now, in an era where everything happened in an instant, there was no point in sitting around.

He had already waited long enough. A hundred years of waiting for the right one. So close just to be taken away. So he filled his time with other things, using saving others as an excuse to not save himself.

In this new time, Steve also had to adjust to so much change. Constantly. New foods, new technology, new people. It was overwhelming and numbing all at once. Putting his head down and getting to work everyday was the only way to get through. And it was always the same. Rushed. Precise and safe as possible. Forget it and move on, quickly. Too much was going on to hang on to one thing.

And then suddenly, after a recon mission on the beach, it all slowed down. He wasn’t sure if it was the end catching up with him. Finally. After all these years. But he took in the beauty of the land for the first time since he was a teenager.

The waves crashed in slow motion on the shore, sun starting to dip below the horizon, painting the sky peachy orange. As he fought to keep his eyes open to take in the whole, blindingly bright sight, a silhouette rose from the water, giving his eyes reprieve he didn’t ask for. Tony emerged from somewhere on his right side, walking towards the figure, arms open for a hug. Steve’s ears felt like they were stuffed with cotton, he could hardly read the lips of his friend, welcoming a new member of the team: you.

not gonna lie, it's a little embarrassing how quickly i RAN to my old tumblr account to check my likes for this! turns out, i mostly read angst and smut (very humbling).

anyway, i've put together a little list of my favourite f1 fics! these are primarily the ones i still think about daily or can instantly recall off the top of my head.

in a galaxy far, far away (SMAU series) – love love love this one!!!! such a classic and really well-made. it's star wars themed (and again, everything by this author is worth checking out!)

everything is papaya? (SMAU) – this is so messy and just so good!

focal point (series) – a really lovely college!au series, feels so real and sweet

monaco kiss .wav (18+ smut!) – changed my brain chemistry forever

As time progresses, they all become friends and Lance finally finds someone to help him explore his bisexuality - his gay neighbor Keith.

They strike a deal = Lance helps Keith find a social life while Keith becomes Lance's wingman, but what happens when both men realize that their deal has become more complicated than they expected.

Literally, it's not something they could explain to their friends and teammates...Can they navigate their new relationship while keeping it all a secret from their team? maybe? But probably not.

Aka: Lance is not OK. He has a huge crush on Keith and suddenly gets a chance to do something about it. Oh, but wait, first he has to try and stay alive in the cold vacuum of space. Maybe he can get the guy and survive at the same time? Either way that's the path he decided to take! plus overcoming anxiety and trauma! yeah...

This is a Lance character study that got out of control and grew a massive plot.
