Any Modern/Human AU headcanons for Rani & Baliyo?

ON A DARK DESERT HIGHWAY, COOL WIND IN MY HAIRRR /lyr. love the username dude /gen

modern/human rani & baliyo hcs

I already wrote this in my previous rani & baliyo hc post, but in a modern/human au I hc they’d use english swears 24/7 but would be dead scared to use any hindi + gujurat swears around their family

rani and baliyo would be gujurati, since asiatic lions are found in gujurat

human rani and baliyo have a slightly bigger age gap, maybe.. 4-5 years? roughly

if we’re talking just a human au then I hc they would still live around the tree of life and all with surak nirmala and the rest

however if we’re talking a MODERN au then they would maybe live with surak and queen janna! perhaps in their ancestral home

the two of them were inseparable (and still are but to an extent) during their childhood years

once rani was complaining abt her long hair and how hot it would get while baliyo complained that he wanted to look pretty like rani

so the both of them just decided to do the old Switcheroo and rani has had short hair and baliyo long hair ever since :]

rani is always the one to braid baliyo’s hair after both their mother and queen janna’s passing, baliyo wont let anybody else do it

baliyo is terrified of the monkeys around their home and rani often has to shoo them away for him

I hc human baliyo would be a sort of artist, like he’d make the best rangolis and street art around their village or town

rani on the other hand makes the best sweets and snacks

nirmala is maybe a neighbor? and has always been close to the family

I like to think rani and baliyo would call her nirmala didi

baliyo LOVES big dogs. he desperately wants to adopt one. he pets every single street dog he sees while sending rani multiple “can we keep him can we keep him can we keep him” glances

rani likes dogs too, but she knows how much of a hassle taking care of dogs will be

the family actually used to have a pet dog, who unfortunately died before baliyo was born

the both of them love running and playing in the rain, and while we’re talking weather and seasons they also hate winters

I feel like baliyo would have really large, skinny hands with multiple scars, cuts and bruises

while rani’s hands are much softer but roughly the same size. they get super dry in the winters tho

I hc rani would still be pressuring herself to uphold their family and be a good daughter/granddaughter even in a human au

this takes form in rani refusing herself some freedoms. her grandmother tells her she doesnt need to and after her passing, nirmala takes up that role

I feel like rani and baliyo would be really popular with the kids in their village or town! idk if they’d be the same if they lived in a city tho

come to think abt it I can’t quite imagine them living in a city, but oh well

rani and baliyo are both masters at handiworks and crafts

they both love flying kites and its a sort of sibling ritual for them :]] always do it when the sun’s almost down but still up enough

they have rooftop talks in the early morning, especially when one or both of them are feeling low

they had a bunch of rooftop talks after their parents’ passing. it was hard on them yk? couldn’t believe they had to live a life without them and didnt want to believe it either

a lot of times its rani holding baliyo while they both cry but every once in a while rani would sneak to the rooftops on her own, then baliyo would find her and be the comfort she needs

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."

Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.

These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!

Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!

Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.

So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

Bakugou has a cry in the bathroom and you have to spend the rest of the night consoling him.

head in my hands bc of this, just thought abt bakugo growing out his hair a little bit right after baby's birth...takes him months to go and get a real haircut cuz he doesn't wanna burden you more than he already has and by the time he's okay with the thought (but only for "AN HOUR MAX," is what he says), he has a mullet thing going on and all this scruff on his chin🥺🥺🥺

so he gets home with his regular ol' haircut, maybe a little shorter just to account for ... not wanting to go again so soon, and baby's HOLLERING bloody murder as soon as they see him and refusing to be taken out of your arms, doing that thing where they're flipping their face back and forth to dodge a kiss...

it's so tragic bc not even a little cheek nuzzling helps to calm them bc bakugo's CLEAN SHAVEN and smells like aftershave instead of like dad when he tries!!!!!!

and after, you watch him kinda sulk into the bathroom, thinking like aw yeah thats a bummer but also pretty funny, too (esp bc the haircut does look good🫣🤓), AND HE DOESN'T COME OUT FOR LIKE an hour???

....until you finally have to ask him if he's okay in there and you're opening the door to him sitting on the toilet seat, arms crossed and red cheeks a little streaky with tears...

LJFKASDJFADSJK it's the cutest, most sad sight you ever did see!! ofc Bakugo tries to deny it, but the way he tears up again (after you're done assuring him he did nothing wrong) when his baby finally realizes it's him and smiles (and then how he refuses to give them up again until bedtime) has his ass. EXPOSED.
