who yearns harder, alhaitham or kaveh?

this is the second part of the ask i received! the first part discussing alhaitham's yearning is here!

Before moving onto their current relationship in-game, kaveh’s yearning will be explored. I think kaveh’s ‘yearning’ was more his hurt and his mourning over one of the most substantial relationships in his life, as alhaitham effectively filled in the familial role kaveh was missing after the passing of his father and his mother leaving to Fontaine, additionally kaveh also considered alhaitham to be his 'best friend' before their argument

in his voice line kaveh mentions that if they were as close as they used to be he would thank alhaitham for helping him out, meaning that he would have no hesitation in being open with and trusting of alhaitham

Additionally, there’s a romanticism in kaveh using the idea of ‘the universe’ in relation to him and alhaitham, as it seems that fate has led them back together, which for kaveh, is both a negative and a positive due to their differences and the issues these differences have caused, where they were once the cause for the deepness of their bond

Kaveh appears uncertain of why alhaitham would want him around, as alhaitham has seemingly rejected him in the past, so there is nothing he can conceivably offer, and this question is left unanswered

This uncertainty in their relationship can be seen in how kaveh consistently complains about alhaitham, all the while acknowledging that alhaitham has helped him. this creates a parallel in his hangout where kaveh states if he didn’t care about his work, he wouldn’t be so torn up all the time, which can be linked to his treatment of alhaitham (especially as this is from the same route as the talk with alhaitham in the library), which kaveh equates to loving something

Direct parallel or not, I think that alhaitham is equally as important to kaveh as kaveh is to alhaitham, only that due to kaveh’s misconception of alhaitham’s motives, past and present, this regard of alhaitham manifests in a way that can be misinterpreted as dislike, but kaveh’s care is explicit where he asks twice if alhaitham is okay after the encounter with Siraj, in him bringing takeout home for alhaitham, and in him worrying that alhaitham isn’t getting the interaction he deems as necessary when alhaitham misses the group dinner

post-parade of providence, they now stand as equals, and kaveh is open with and trusting of alhaitham, enjoying their conversation in actively telling alhaitham about his day, and offering to help alhaitham research, rectifying their past thesis in cyno's second story quest (which i explore more here and here)

kaveh now actively seeks alhaitham out, which is shown in an odd textual mystery,  where the first thing he wanted to do is inform alhaitham of what happened, which contrasts with kaveh’s claims previous that he doesn’t care what alhaitham does with his spare time, so long as it’s away from him

now kaveh serendipitously bumps into alhaitham in port ormos in nahida’s birthday event, and says that he’s glad they did since he was meaning to talk to alhaitham about his plans, even though he believes they’re completed and 'foolproof' - simply because he wanted alhaitham’s opinion

Overall, I think they’ve both yearned although in different ways, but I am a firm believer that alhaitham fell first, and kaveh fell harder. I think kaveh’s actions of seeking alhaitham out are explicit in this new arc for them, and this highlights alhaitham’s initial pursuit of kaveh in earlier story beats.

They’ve both finally reached the stage where they can reach out to the other, and have this be reciprocated, and they’re just as intolerable as ever <3333

Some random headcanons I have!

He's always Asian to me; I like to envision him as half-Korean!

Like I mentioned in my Markiplier post, he barely tastes his food 😭 he simply views it as sustenance and has no great love or hatred for any dish. When pressed about what his favourite is, he'd either speak a classic French or Korean dish and cite it as a "childhood favourite" but honestly he really doesn't care!

Because of that ^, he eats food like a vacuum cleaner. If he's out in a restaurant with friends, he'd spend the rest of the time drinking cups of coffee.

He sleeps like a corpse, lying flat on his back like 🧍‍♂️. His breathing is always really shallow too when he's asleep so every Ami have shaken him awake in terror before, thinking he stopped breathing in the middle of the night. He has since attempted to position himself in a more normal sleeping state to not worry his friends, but his corpse state is his natural state

He doesn't have favourite music at all; again when pressed, he'd offer some classical music as an answer but he's literally so disconnected. No spotify, no ipod, nothing. He only uses his earbuds to listen to voice messages (which the Amis send /very frequently/. But Enjolras likes to listen to them all! That's his source of entertainment)

On the flipside, he's very serious when it comes to watching films or shows. He thinks they reflect much about the sociopolitical state of the world (even if they aren't "serious" media) and would religiously log his Letterboxd review after every watch + analyse it with Combeferre, Feuilly, or Prouvaire. He would watch Despicable Me and go: "An interesting film exploring the complexities of a man ostracised from society and relegating himself to such a role in life as a result. A heartfelt story unfolds when he learns to care for three young children who show him blablablabl...."

He cuts his own hair. And it STILL looks good.

this is a just bonus thought but !! since cult leader!geto’s taste buds are dulled in my mind, i think he would honestly just eat your food …… this guy gobbles curses for a living, his stomach is made of steel. gives you a soft smile and thanks you for the meal because he really is grateful that you took the time to make him something, even if it didn’t end up super tasty :’) there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for you

ok no bc i need everyone to hear me out alright. josh strobl, therefore his version of ponyboy, is half mexican. so. darry soda have the same dad who Left between soda and pony being born, both of them were both super young so they don't really remember anything about him. miss karen hooks up w pony's dad and it's very much a one night thing but he's a dedicated man and decides to stick around for his baby once he learns karen's pregnant. he sticks around for the boys, too, literally like 5 and 1 years old, raises them like his own kids just as much as he raises ponyboy — pony's half brothers to soda and darry but they're obviously raised together full time. dad passes down to pony whatever bits of spanish he knows and cooks for them all sometimes and it's kinda Their Thing. then he. fuckin dies. and pony feels such a type of way about now bc not only is there soda and darry who both are full brothers and share more blood than he does with either of them but also like. he just lost the only real tie to his heritage he ever had. now he has nobody to speak spanish with or eat from. him feeling like as much as he loves soda, their bond will never be able to come close to soda and darry's. idk idk i justttttttt. So

First thing : I feel like the person X saw in Etho (in panel 2) is Evil X, I don't know it just feels like it, I mean yeah instead of yellow he should have had red accents and stuff, but... the shoulder pads are in simmiliar shape to those that EX has in your recent comic. It's implied that X was at least a bit scared of that person he saw because this is the exact moment he overpowers Etho, like he saw someone who's genuinely determined to hurt him + I can see that whoever Xisuma saw in Etho is holding a potion of what?? Still tryna to figure this out.

+ X cries a little when he flips Etho, still don't know if he does it because it's Etho and he doesn't want to hurt him, or because he still sees the other person in his friend and it's a bit deeper than that.

Second thing: Oh wow we got to see Xisuma's hair!

Third thing: I think that Etho most likely hurt/injuried/stabbed X at the end, or is at least about to do it, since we see the "DON'T" at the end- it's written in pink which is enough to signify it's X who's talking [CAN i ADD THAT IT'S GLOWING?? Like that must mean it's either important or loud] but we also get the "VOCAL RECOGNITION: XISUMAVOID" from Doc [thank you for this part it makes it even better sobs]. And now to the confusing point, from what I could figure, it looks like Etho is trying to stab X with the shard(?) or whatever that is, but It's not him, the person that's holding the shard has sleeves [we know that Etho wears a t-shirt in this] so now I wonder if it's a flashback to Doc's past since 1) his labcoat has sleeves [X has gloves so he definetely isn't the one holding the shard] 2) in the panel where he's reaching for the [whatever that is I don't know medical supplies] we also get a sort of flashback of him reaching for the shard. Which means that he probably had situation like this before (maybe that's one of the times when he lost his arm?)

Also thank you for drawing that pure fear in Doc's eye when he heard X I love this

first year vs fourth year

aka im back in sge mode heyyyyy 😭 just doodling some (mostly soon to be featured) characters from my prequel / young callis+arthur series (i know its kind of old BUT. i AM working on the next installment which is probably going end up 3x as long 💀 stay tuned for wip posting. and callis posting 🥰)

ummm random ideas / explanations under the cut:

gareth and gaheris are arthur's cousins (gaheris is 15 (1 year older than arthur), gareth is 12) and both in his class. they generally dislike arthur for various reasons but mostly because they think he's cursed + stole the crown from his brother

callis is gareth's best friend. he is Not hers. he might also be in love with her but that is a tale for another time. you'll see

george (or grog) and alek are callis's roommates (alek is barely 16, george is turning 12). they both got into evil technically by nepotism. you'll see

it will be Ages before i can properly explain why lesso's name is completely different in this series so ill just say it here. its quite silly actually but its been this way for Years and Years so "leonora" is actually a portmanteau name of her first nickname (nora) and a second nickname (leo). the road to nickname 2 will be a long one paved with the power of friendship and not dying in the trial by tale etc etc. you'll see

emma is a surprise tool we will use later or something. she's not relevant after first year or so but im doing my own spin on her not being asked to the snow ball but somehow not being failed. what i'll say now is that callis and gareth are involved. you'll see

OREL HC????? Okay, first I'll say the hc I have (all silly, nothing serious?) and then I get cheesy...uh

Right, first let's start with uhhhh a silly headcanon I have is that when he was younger he wanted to be like Reverend Putty...for his great service to God and all that uh. Then when he grew up he'd want to study to be a doctor...it's a good profession for him (I know I explained this in a post a few months ago), he likes to help people, and he'd definitely give his patients loads of attention without being as negligent as the doctor in Moralton lmao. (I should do a whole post about this as I actually have a lot to say about his career path)

I'm a firm believer that at some point he continued to smoke weed...maybe in his teens?? He'd know it was wrong, but it helped him to zone out, so it was fun, plus he'd definitely hang out with people who smoked too, and Orel is...very easily influenced.

Definitely in school he'd be smart, but also REALLY DISTRACTED...and goofy, I'm pretty sure hardly any girls would be interested in him. (Maybe he also became a bit weird), he's bad at picking up hints and reading people's body language... so everyone would have to be REALLY direct if they wanted to talk to him about anything. (Aahh he'd probably have to move outta Moralton to study for a serious doctor career...then he'd have to adapt to new people...bad boys)

He'd probably only start officially dating Christina when they were both legal...and she had the freedom to leave her house whenever she wanted!!! Happy ending.

CHRISTINA IS SADISTIC-

In his teens he'd really enjoy grunge and soft rock...uhgg I dunno, I just feel it. (Even though he's not that into music)

He's a goofy..nice...overprotective.....VERY overprotective dad, and that'd cause problems with his kids when they hit their teens...stupid (I love him) Orel..aahg, I mean, aahhh I also think he'd do loads of things that embarrass his kids!! But without realising lmao, he'd be like...trying to talk like them? That 'teen language' as he calls it haha.

IN HIS TEENS A LOT HAPPENED - UGH, not just between him and his parents...I mean also with his 'friends', even if he stopped being (just a bit) innocent, loads of people would definitely manipulate him into doing anything.

I don't think Clay and Bloberta ever divorced lmao, feel like they just stayed together and miserable...just like in that pic Orel has in his living room (Plus, I love that pic, it proves Orel doesn't hide his parents, he loves them despite everything and he'd definitely tell his kids to love them...wwgggh)

You know what I'm pretty sure about? Doughy and Orel got into a fight and came to blows in their teens, what caused it? Probably Doughy, in loads of episodes he looked like he was betraying his best mate for attention and affection from an adult...(but ugh, don't judge, it's written so well and we know why he did all that, even though that doesn't mean it was right, yeah, plus...there's no guarantee he changed after that, if we think about it Doughy had NO ONE, to teach him right from wrong), at some point he'd do a 'silly betrayal', to Orel...that'd make him SO ANGRY (cos it's not the first time) that mixed with a strong IMPULSE LMAO, he'd punch him, then he'd punch him back...and well, it'd all end with forgiveness and Doughy learning something.

And that's just a part of what I have cos I wrote a lot lmao...

Oscar doesn't knock on the door the first time he comes over. Lando would find it odd if Oscar hadn't seemed like such a quiet guy the first time they met – whispering around Mod, mindful of how his bag crinkled when he leaned over to look at her, still speaking quietly even when it was just the two of them.

Maybe he's just nervous.

Lando's certainly nervous. That's normal though, right?

Bit weird to see the guy from across the hall – the guy whose name he definitely forgot for a moment – after such an emotional evening.

Lando freezes when he opens the door – taken aback by Oscar's clothes. He's in a suit, an honest to god suit, overly polished leather shoes and loosened tie included.

"Hey," Oscar's shoulders relax with a heavy exhale, as if he thought Lando was going to leave him in the hallway.

It snaps him out of his stupor. He motions Oscar in a little stiffly. "Hey yourself."

"How's she been?"

"Pretty good, um. She leaves the bed, sometimes. Lets me holder her, like… a few seconds at a time, but still." Lando leans against the door as Oscar undoes his shoes – Lando would have never expected him to look so put together, he's pretty sure he's never seen him in anything but bed head and a sweatshirt during their run ins at the lift.

OKAY SO I JUST DECIDED TO FILL THE WHOLE THING OUT! I headcanon Peril as Intersex and nonbinary!! AND SAME FOR ME, they fall fight between “I know them” and “their lore is literally impacted by their transsexualism”!! Peril is a very Nonbinary character to me, the way she was raised to view things as very “black & white” and hosting a sense of little self autonomy— makes them finding a comfortable identity in a very “”in the middle”” gender compelling! Especially within the understanding of how Peril was raised and brought up in someone else’s vision, being able to find self-identity in that nature of breaking down the “black & white” structure that was forced on them through the act of finding identity in neutrality. I find the development of self-love extended through gender expression in that nature something that works well in-unison with Peril’s pre-existing themes! Especially in regards to the layered metaphors of the Necklace. As a nonbinary person myself - I found that to be a pinnacle moment of forced suppression of identity into something more “palatable” to the public perception - in this analysis that being the forcing of femininity onto a gnc aligning identity - speaking to the way many nonbinary identity’s are expected to lean “one direction or the other”. So that moment being involved in Perils story - and her breaking free of it and having a self-realization/control moment - very reflective of nonbinary/gender non conforming experiences !!

With that though - thats just my own interpretation and connection to those aspects of Peril’s characterization! I find her lore and themes within her character to speak to many universal experiences of identity that can be interpreted in a fluid way. Like I personally read it as a very compelling arc about non-conformity and applied my own experiences with gender expression onto it, but other interpretations/analyses are just as strong! Thats why I put this headcanon in the middle, because I find it connects heavily to their lore, but is similarly just an extension of it and not necessarily interwoven in-full. Its a lot of personal interpretation which is why the personable “I know them” also 100% fits my perception of transgenderism onto Peril <33

Also the Intersex headcanon is purely a me thing, I always thought Peril was intersex just like. Factually lmao (one of those “I somehow convinced myself this was canon and was surprised to learn it was not” moments lmao). The reason I included it as well is because within my headcanon I think Peril would similarly absorb her being intersex to a further extension of gender identity! Again, breaking down those “black & white” views that were forced on them through themself - literally! Notably being intersex does not inherently mean gender identity is going to be impacted as well, just for this headcanon I feel Peril’s relationship to their gender identity would be strongly impacted by them being intersex <3 !!

His fingers clench on Foggy's shoulders and his face is pink and Foggy is also pretty high so his brain can't decide what's about to happen. Because Matt could be about to murder him. He's pretty annoying and he can't seem to stop hitting on him and this would be the perfect way to distract him before trying to strangle him and--

"I'm gonna do something stupid," Matt murmurs, determined, immediately taking Foggy's face in his hands instead and leaning down to kiss him.

"Holy shit," Foggy says.

"You want that, right?" Matt asks, eyes wide and pupils blown, outrageously pretty up close like this. "You keep telling me I'm hot and that's--I mean, I normally want to kiss people when I think they're hot. Does that make sense?"

". . .do you think I'm hot?" Foggy asks, before he can help himself.

"Foggy," Matt says, laughing again, waiting to catch his breath before he continues, "I think you're so hot."

"Jesus Christ, I should have peer pressured you into doing drugs with me ages ago," Foggy says, lifting up enough to tip Matt backwards so he falls onto his back with a soft oof. Foggy gets a flash of another loopy smile before Matt immediately reaches up to grab him and pull him down on top of him.

So, Emizels cutie mark changes with how many lives he has (when one is left the cats eyes will look normal and all) and at one point probably had drawn on angry eyebrows to make it seem cooler and on the topic of cutie marks I WAS just going to make Soda's a soda because its like his whole thing but i liked the idea of it being like . Not Exactly soda but could be read as it ?? I went for more of a "life of the party" vibe because he definitely gives that to me <3!!!! And him "loosing" soda (Shiloh when I catch you) and like. For example becoming and alcoholic, still works with his cutie mark. If that makes sense to anyone but me 😭

Also here's some extra things I did that overall just made it to busy in the end

Emizel is an earth pony but Shilo will not be and I do have my reasons ok just know that

prince!suguru is... a handsome, polite man. respected and well-liked by royals, castle workers and townsfolk alike. widely renowned as the king’s favorite child. always in demand, a constant stream of invitations to attend public events, balls and banquets — ogled all the while. nothing seems to catch him off guard; he handles any conversation with practiced ease, charming and composed. you’d feel awfully safe, knowing the kingdom’s future will one day lie in his capable hands….

but all of that is surface level.

when suguru comes home, after a day full of sweet-talking princesses and speaking to the leaders of a neighbourhood kingdom — he slumps down on his bed and rots. depression style. lets out the most weary, disgruntled groan you’ve ever heard, and curls up like a sad shrimp. pouts and whines and mentally debates if he should ask one of the maids for a snack or let the hunger claim him. he’s basically just an introvert with a horrendous social battery and no choice but to act like a perfect prince every day. he’s so tired of it. he just wants to sleep in and drink tea and practice playing the harp :((( poor baby.

i’m thinking reader is his newly-appointed maid. and you’re obviously a little intimidated by him, because how couldn’t you be? but after a while, after spending so much time with him, you inevitably realize that he’s… kind of a loser. a little soggy. seeing how quickly he goes from ☺️ to 😞 gives you whiplash. and he gets very attached to you!!! he likes it when you coddle him a bit…. most of his maids are way older, but you’re just about his age. and he’s a little starved of normal interactions with friends. so he starts requesting your ”help” (it’s really just your company, he’s not as spoiled as you’d think) more than anyone else.

basically !!!! he’s a sad little soggy prince :33 lots of gap moe . on the outside he’s smiling, on the inside he’s daydreaming about a missile dropping down and setting the kingdom on fire. he is hanging on by a Thread. please vote for him in the next royal election.
