need post magic reveal/ban repeal where magic is free and everyone grows in their knowledge of just what magic is and how it works etc, etc. merlin (isn't one for bragging about his powers) doesn't really mention much about his magic so people just assume he has enough to get by with like chores but not enough to catch the ire of uther EXCEPT for gauis, lancelot, and arthur bc gaius and lancelot have known about him for years and know what he's capable of and arthur sat merlin down and demanded all the stories so arthur knows he'd be a formidable opponent but he doesn't really get it yk? so he's like "yeah merlin has magic and he's capable of defending himself and camelot so he's probably on the more powerful end of the spectrum like every other sorcerer who is powerful"

and then i need merlin to be Different. like noticeably different. like idk a sorcerer is like trying out to be court sorcerer (bc merlin doesn't want another job dammit arthur give it morgana or someone-) and they perform this elaborate spell that captivates merlin and he starts asking all these questions and the sorcerer is like "yeah it's super difficult, it took me months to get it right and it takes years for some others-" and they cut themselves off bc merlin was just like "i wanna try" and does it perfectly first try. the sorcerer is seething.

camelot is hit with a heatwave and everyone is suffering and arthur is just like "morgana can you make it rain or something? it's too hot to breathe." and morgana is just like "no you idiot i can't just bend nature to my will. it doesn't like that." and merlin finally arrives with waterskins full of nice, cold, refreshing drink that the knights are frothing at the mouth to get. arthur complains again and morgana huffs and merlin is like "has he been like that this whole time?" and morgana nods with a groan and merlin laughs before going "i can try something" and leaves before anyone can say anything and arthur looks at morgana and is like "i thought you said nature doesn't like to be controlled?" and she's like "it doesn't" and then they all chase after merlin but he's chilling in the courtyard with his eyes closed, not even chanting, and then the sky starts to darken as black clouds roll in, the temperature plummets and then...snow begins to fall. in july. they all end up having a snowball fight.

a power hungry sorcerer comes along and is like "emrys....he's perfect....just what i need...teehee" and casts some spell over merlin and begins to siphon his magic and his power and merlin feels waves of his magic flood through the connection and into the sorcerer and like he's a mix of panic and concern bc yeah this mf is taking his magic but they're taking his magic. merlin tries to bargain or talk them down while the knights and arthur try to attack but the sorcerer keeps pushing them back and ignores merlin and is like "i want power, i want your power" blah blah blah monologue time and they swing another wave of magic out at the knights and knock many out while killing some and merlin is just like "ok no that's all folks thanks" and starts to push his own magic through the connection. the sorcerer has this wild gleam in their eyes and they feel more and more power fill them and it's like a high until it gets too much and they frantically try to sever the connection and their telling merlin to stop but merlin is just like "i thought you wanted my power? i'm giving it to you" and continues to flood the sorcerer with his magic until gold begins to trace their skin and they idk explode or smth and then all the magic flies back into merlin and he flexes his hands. unnamed knights 3, 6, 22, 53, and 55 still died so it's a tragedy.

a bunch of sorcerers are entertaining at a feast (kind of like the trickler) and they cast illusions all around the room that look real enough (unless you look too closely or touch it bc they are somewhat see through and your hand would pass right through them) and it's a fun and joyous night. later that week, the knights bring it up during their break while training and merlin is like "sure, what illusion should i cast?" and after some back and forth, he settles on the illusion of a dragon. it's around the size and age of aithusa bc that's all he has to go off of and it's gold since he took inspiration from the pendragon crest all around the area. it jumps around and flaps it's wings to get some air and it's all fine and dandy until elyan goes to poke his hand through it's ribs but meets physical scales and he jumps up into percival's arms. merlin looks closer and is like "oh. its real. whoops." and leon is like "whoops?? you make a real life dragon and all you have to say is whoops?" and merlin shrugs and is like "it was an accident" and leon about keels over from a heart attack "an accident? how do you accidentally-" the dragon is considered a gift from magic to camelot and helps further heal the wounds of uther's purge.

idk just like merlin being casually the most powerful sorcerer to walk the earth and unnerving people just by how little he seems to care about his shows of power but they're all like "well he's just doing all these small things that don't harm anyone and he doesn't even seem to realize just how powerful he is so what can ya do?" and they leave it be and make peace with merlin being Like That. and then camelot/arthur is attacked or smth idk and then everyone gets to see exactly how powerful and dangerous merlin is

Tower of Dormont ISaT AU

Had a weird dream I figured would make a great ISaT AU if anyone wants to take a swing at it so umm, general idea:

Instead of the House being taken over by the King, instead the Favor Tree is warped into an evergrowing tower reaching up, up, up into the heavens.

Instead of the King's Curse slowly making its way across the land and Mirabelle being the 'Chosen One' to collect the orbs to stop it, it's time freezing Sadnesses raining down from the top of the Tower all over Vaugarde and surrounding countries, with heroes from all over (Euphie, Claude, various Defenders, people from other countries, etc) heading into the Tower to figure out what is happening only to never return...

And well. It looks like the end for Vaugarde, Mirabelle (having finally hit the 'I know what Euphrasie said but I've got to do something' point) has recruited Isa, Odile and Bonnie for a last ditch effort to try and stop the world from ending by Tower and...

Within the first few floors (which keep changing but kind of look like... The House of Dormont? No, that bit there looks like Odile's family home, and that room there is just like Nille's???) they find an unlocked bedroom and in that room an exhausted, terrified and near hopeless Siffrin who can barely remember anything from his life before being imprisoned here (even takes a bit to recall his name over the now despised 'Bright One') but after a bit of coaxing they admit they know a LOT about the floors ahead and might be willing to help the party reach the top of the Tower where they can put a stop to the madness going on outside but in return they must not let the King catch them (not again not again not again)...

Party are actually pretty cool with this (you know, aside from general 'is this person legit or actually an enemy?' concerns) but well, it's hard not to notice as their guide goes from barely able to fight beyond weak scissors craft and buffs to healing and every craft type under the sun. From claiming they don't know what's behind a certain door or above the next floor to explaining in detail that the prisoners in cages on the next floor are all Sadnesses, or that 'the King is coming, he hasn't realised I've left the room yet but I need something, anything, to mask my scent' (and later gets everyone to leave false trails down halls via jars of sugar and honey they picked up a few rooms previous). From claiming that the party are the only other people they've ever seen here to having near breakdowns over finding books or paintings with imagery and words that seem eerily familiar (think a book that reads like 'Claude wonders why Euphrasie and their amnesiac guide are so fussed about the walls here apparently being covered in stars? Why do stars matter anyway?'), etc.

Oh and they glow more and more with each floor which er, is probably going to make hiding from the King (who is VERY DEFINITELY after them judging from all the "Bright One, you know you are not supposed to leave you room. You do not want me angry again do you Bright One?" roaring) increasingly difficult.

...

And yeah. I don't actually know what is going on in this story beyond cool imagery due to the whole 'Literally woke up with this in my head because dream' but...

Been thinking it's kinda like an 'end game Persona series' situation where a chance friendly meeting/talk between Sif and the King right before the King's rampage would've started, led to the King to realizing he could use his Wish Craft to force the people of Vaugarde to 'wish with him' (see: escalating brainwashing madness), forcing a terrified Sif to go along with it (no brainwashing for the Bright One no, not when they were clearly sent by the Universe to be the King's guide ignore the Bright One's screams that this is wrong, that they want nothing to do with this; clearly oracles only relay the Universe's intent not share it themselves), and the current 'raining time freezing Sadnesses/Sif clearly being stuck in some weird looping variant' stuff being the result of Sif's 'Please protect Vaugarde and restore our home' wish said at the King's orders being heard by the Universe as "please Universe do whatever you can to stop all of Vaugarde- No, the world from falling under the King's control! + Someone, anyone save me! + 'immense amounts of self loathing and a desire to known and held accountable for inadvertently sparking a man made apocalypse' + Universe I wish I had people who actually cared about me/who would never only use me as a tool to save the world" and er well. The Universe had a way to 'protect everyone from the King' that would also kind of fit the King's wishes, a whole heap of power from all the brainwashed people the King was leading plus the 'meant to be repurposed' freezing all of Vaugarde in time ritual the King crafted to work from Dormont and... Yeah. Add to that people all over Vaugarde and possibly other countries 'adding' to the 'please save us' wish bank after Sif had already accidently centered it all around himself and basically both Sif's loops and the Sadness hell storm are being powered up by everyone everywhere in one huge ball of 'Hmm, I wonder if this all ends with the King getting killed or is there gonna be a big old morality question thingy post King killing at the end where Sif, upon remembering that "this is all my fault" tries to get the others to kill him which other heroes may have done (and thus triggering the loop, sending Sif back to the start possibly missing memories of them to hide away in shame/terror/etc) whereas Mira, Isa, Odile and Bonnie have gotten far too attached to this tragic, self sacrificing idiot and were willing to let the rest of the world be fully frozen for the rest of Sif's natural lifespan if it meant he could finally be free (not happy about it mind you, but like, just the 5 of them living in a quiet world until everyone else is safely freed after Sif's natural death is better than murdering someone who went through an eternity of horrors to protect a world they couldn't even remember and who's death might not even be the true answer anyway)'.

Oh and the King should basically be treated like a yandere version of the Reaper or something throughout the story (dream had way too many 'and then the King was suddenly there killing someone until Sif slashes their throat -no tears to use in this Tower alas- and from the party's perspective basically has a 'vision of the future' and/or freakout for seemingly no reason in the middle of Snack Time), while each of the many many floors of the Tower are basically due to being altered to match the minds of everyone (frozen or not) in the Tower, kinda like a Palace or P4 dungeon, due to well, Sif unconsciously wanting to learn more about them, wanting to remember/forget, possibly on some level wanting the King to how horrible this all actually is IDK (snack rooms, like the bedroom Sif was in are basically P5 saferooms but less 'area weak in cognition' and more 'Sif wishes for there to be places safe from the King and all the Sadness so there are some even if he knows he can't stay in them forever least they become prisons for him'). ...Might be nightmare floors as well? To represent Sif's terror of bad things happening to anyone he becomes attached to and wanting to be able to protect them so basically, they are accidentally making their own opposition (possibly based off of what they hear the others being afraid of/the desire to be useful to them) and I think Slay the Princess might make for great inspiration there if you need an idea of how crazy that might go~ XD

...So. Yeah. If anyone wants to use any of this for any fanfic ideas, please go ahead as I kind of would like to focus on my Selkie Au and fics for other fandoms more than this weird dream that basically took over my brain and said SHARE in caps so loud I've been stuck thinking about it ever since.

This fic meant so much to me the first time I read it because of the way it approaches the codependency that would almost necessarily arise if you actually got together with your life partner at age 10. It has so much beautiful imagery and I believe it's where my obsession with bath time scenes originated. I've read it so many times and the bit where Tweek signs "I love you, rocket ship boyfriend" at the ceiling always makes me cry. In short, it's my favorite fic to take on the "are they or aren't they really dating?" trope in a canon compliant manner. As an aside, I love the way apollos portrays Tweek's speech (a lot of exclamation points. shouty boy), and the ever-present sense of Oh god they belong together ohhhh my god these idiots are soulmates

I'm insane over trope subversion and this is absurdly masterful on that front (specifically, high school fic tropes), as well as in building tension between them. I have so many more things to say (alas, the sleepy-tired) but I think I've read this one at least 8 times in full (and certain scenes way more times than that waaaa). It's slow burn and unfinished and ends with such a cliffhanger, but I've still reread it in full several times. That's how good it is. Hello folks! I feel like there aren’t enough opportunities out there for us to celebrate other people’s fics in this fandom, so I thought I’d start up a little South Park-specific ‘Fic Rec Friday’ type of thing, where we can share some wonderful stories with each other. Idk if anyone else is interested in doing this too, I’m honestly just happy rambling to myself every week if that’s what it turns out to be hehe >:]

For the first SP Fic Rec Friday, the prompt is: which fic you could reread a thousand times over, and never get bored of?

For me, that would be "Flipside" by Hollycomb. This is a Stan/Kyle (with background Butters/Kenny) that follows evil Kyle from Spookyfish accidentally swapping places with the not-so-evil Kyle from regular ol' South Park. Needless to say, shenanigans ensue >:)

I first read this story about 6 months into my time in this fandom, and it fundamentally altered my brain chemistry 🥴 I’m a sucker for some sci-fi, so a reality swap AU is perfectly suited for my taste :D The high stakes, the political tension, the identity mix-up, the sweet, sweet dramatic irony, everything about the story makes me lose my bloody mind. I could read this fic every day for the rest of my life, and it would stay just as thrilling with each reread.

Headcanon : Zorian looks like Watanuki to me.

Yeah that's all I have to say. I was watching XXXholic and went. Zorian vibes. It helps that the Clamp universe has a similar vibe to their magic. They use alot of tech in Tsubasa chronicals.

I feel like their actual personalities are nothing alike, just the energy they give off. Watanuki and Zorian don't have the same lifestyles at all, not even the same skills. Sharoran actually has more applicable skills and hobbies to Zorian. I just think he has the right look.

So I know a few chapters ago I was joking about Touya wanting to fight a child but I really didn’t think Evil Wolverine would be the one fulfilling that prophecy with such enthusiasm. 

A child runs at him and he Just. Complete obliteration.

Oh man he doesn’t even wait for Lava Lamp to actually try attack back he just prepares to obliterate him a second time while still giving him a smarmy speech. 

Also I don’t know if this will be important but it DOES look like Lava Lamp’s blood just entered the Reservoir. Good thing or bad thing? Who knows!

Meanwhile Evil Wolverine is once again mildly thrilled at the idea of anyone being the same as him. The idea that Lava Lamp was like him back in the time loop made him happy, and here he is in the past pleasantly amused that someone would have the same wish as him. That someone gets him. Even if it’s a 6-7 year old that he’s currently frying with electricity. 

The idea that Lava Lamp will want to bring back Sakura, but might have the capacity to break the universe doing so is completely wild. There actually IS a very interesting parallel to be examined between these two wishes but I'd definitely need the full story before I could do the differences any justice. So watch this space!

just a thought… so like Briar.. as a botanist?

she takes/records classes so she can learn about plants

(briar in my au is cursed to make a plant monster, like the one in the show inside the big book, from whatever plant she pricks her finger on)

so she can be aware of what plants to avoid being too near, avoiding creating a monster and passing out

and also so she can have ways to defeat them scientifically written down and in her purse, if someone should find her and be able to complete the “herbicide” and defeat the monster, thus waking her

and during the class they are assigned the task of creating a new fruit? naturally briar chose an apple, in respect to her bffa, apple!

she set to work all semester on creating the perfect Apple apple. and after much trial and some err, she makes a new kind of apple for apple!

it’s gold speckled and yellowish white, it tastes like sparkling apple soda, the leaves of the little shrubby trees they grew on were edged with gold. the apples also only grew one at a time, and only one seed from each apple could be germinated. the apple also turned a slight blush pink if kept in the sun too long, and when that happened it has more of a sparkling strawberry rhubarb flavor.

Briar grew a perfect Apple apple, and set it in glass to keep it safe until she could give it to apple at an orchard party!

Faybelle happened to stop by and Briar had fallen asleep, they hadn’t been able to hang out as much in the past few weeks due to Briars extended botany labs. which was fine, Faybelle thought to herself. she knew she couldn’t… or rather shouldn’t be jealous of plants. Besides! they were going to hang out at Briar’s orchard party in just a few hours and- Faybelles stomach rumbled.

she looked around for a snack, a sparkle of gold caught her eye. in a glass dome in front of sleeping briar, sat a delicious looking white apple. she eyed the glimmering apple with hunger… just a bite wouldn’t hurt, would it? after all, she’s her favorite person! Briar had never let Faybelle try one of her special fruit experiments- she had been keeping her fruit experiments a bit of a secret, and secrets between girlfriends was one thing Faybelle could not stand.

Faybelles stomach rumbled again. maybe just one bite… then i can just enchant it while again! Faybelle did a happy little dance, confident in her self convincing. she carefully lifted the glass and carefully grabbed the apple. it was cool to the touch, and shimmered in the soft fairy candle light. her eyes gleamed, and she took a big juicy greedy bite. the juice was sweet and carbonated, a slight strawberry aftertaste mixed with the apple juice and created an explosion of sweet flavors!

suddenly, Briar shifted in her sleep- it was then Faybelle saw what she was sleeping on, a special card, hand drawn, with Apple’s name on it in big stupid golden letters. “Apple’s shining apple, a gift for my favorite person! A special apple for my special Apple! i hope you enjoy the orchard party! love ever after, Briar.” suddenly the flavors did not taste so sweet. Faybelle felt… Faybelle wasn’t sure how she felt. but it wasn’t good. Apple. “tch, always apple with you” she glared at Briars soft pink and brown waves. Faybelle put the apple back into its glass dome, she then began to chant:

“apple shining golden white

glitter glimmer with dancing light

sleepless dreaming, slowing breath

heartbeat sounding close to death

til adoration, true and pure

heart full given to endure

and lastly, not to miss

seal their fate with true loves kiss”

the cheerhex compete- the apple went through a sort or transformation during the cheer, shimmering and glowing with a bright red, as if hot and lit by flame, and then it cooled, settling back to looking plump, white, and golden glittering- just in time for Briar to stir and wake, but Faybelle was already gone, closing the door ever so softly behind herself.

Briar, after waking from her nap and not knowing her apple was now cursed/enchanted, placed her special apple into its glass gift box and wrapped it in some de-thorned vines and flowers. now that the gift was ready, it was time for briar to get ready!

she chose some white pumps with pink bottoms, pale green lace socks over sheer sparkling tights and a denim half pleated skirt. She wore her long thorn belt and put on one of her moms vintage ivory colored silk sleeping tops with a dark green mesh top underneath. She went for a dusky pink eye with heavy lashes and lots of shimmer, hi lighting her inner eye with a bright green. Her cheek and lip colors echoed each other and she added her usual gloss. Her hair was in her usual style, and she wore her favorite tiara shades. She looked at herself in the mirror, satisfied with her styling. her mirror phone chimed- just in time.

it was time to start the orchard party.

its an if where you're the queen/king/ruler but ALSO a single parent (ur spouse died Lol...) but im like UGH!!! does the world need more royalty ifs?? (the answer is yes) (also that's not the full plot but its not fully developed cause its just an idea floating around in my mind)

i just UGH!!! and i had another idea a while ago that im hung up on, but i know that will have me clawing at my scalp if i attempt it sooo im not gonna share that

everyone has slightly odd coping mechanisms. i'll share one of mine tonight. sometimes, when i'm feeling low, i like to imagine we're being watched from the spiritual plane in the same way that we watch tv shows. and that there's some version of tumblr used by spirits, and they reblog gif sets of us. the same way we adore fictional characters and watch them on loop during their best moments and their lowest lows, we've got trillions of figures doing the same for us. they cheer us on when we succeed, and sympathise when we fail. just as a fictional character can have millions of fans and never know, the same principles apply to us. we don't know how well loved we are. we don't know who's celebrating us and why. but they are there, and they are listening, and they care. even though we can't see them.

My head is filled with thoughts of Eliza RDR II, and what could have been.

If you don't know, originally, allegedly, Eliza – Arthur's dead baby's mother in canon – was supposed to be alive and part of the gang during the game (a model for her, a few dialogues, and mission marker were found in the files), and Roger Clark (Arthur’s actor) confirmed that Isaac was supposed to die during the first chapter when the gang arrive in Colter.

So, I can't stop thinking about what she could have been – who was she ? Would she have still been a waitress the gang had picked up earlier and ended up sleeping with Arthur ? Or would she have joined the gang after getting pregnant ? What would have been the context of her and Arthur sleeping together ? Would she have been a rebound for Mary, just a one night stand, something more ? Were they still planning to make her nineteen ? It would have made the fact that Arthur, thirty-six, had slept with her iffy.

ELZ1's mission marker show she would have been a bit farther away from Colter, Abigail seems to the be one starting the mission by asking Arthur to go look for Eliza. She likely ran off after her baby's death – maybe to kill herself from exposure the same way Isaac died. I don't know if Arthur’s voiceline of "Well, there's easier way." is related to the first bit of dialogue but if it is, it sound almost dismissive and callous like I take it as him saying there's easier way to kill yourself. But maybe I'm just misunderstanding the tone. Or I'm assuming too much.

But the tone make me think Arthur could have been similarly dismissive of her as John is with Abigail. I mean, he wasn't a stellar dad by canon already.

Arthur's voiceline "You look at me like the devil himself" could either imply she resented Arthur – maybe blaming him for having slept with her or maybe she joined the gang specifically after getting pregnant so she blame him and the gang for her baby's death – or it's just Arthur antagonizing people as usual.

The fact she appears in 1907 (ELZ5 and the voicelines) means she would have survived the gang (good for her!). John not recognizing her make me think either she changed physically, or she was maybe newer to the gang before the downfall so John doesn't have that clear memory of her.

I know she was very likely not that developed, cut quite early if we take Roger Clark's words into account, but it doesn't stop the few bit and pieces we can find being so interesting. Cut content always fascinate me, even if we can never be sure if we're just making too many assumptions or if we're right.
