I’m taking this time to apologize to my moots and just my followers in general. I don’t know what happened to me these past couple of weeks, I’ve been through so much (STILL I’M) and I’m glad you’ve been with me through this poolverine brain rot journey…willingly or not.
I hope one day we can all look at the Honda odyssey as just a simple family minivan again. One day… in the distant future 😩

Little Big Poolverine
A bit of a tribute to my current hyperfix and my first childhood game franchises from when I was literally around 4 years old. Esp since the online servers had been removed around the end of 2024.
I never owned any of the marvel costume packs, they were removed long before the servers even got shut down, but I would absolutely loved to have owned little rag doll versions of Logan and Wade. Maybe Peter too.

I have this scenario stuck in my head of trans Logan and trans Wade tribbing. Logan's laying there with a soft smile on his face while Wade is just chatting about some random thing while their hips keep going in circles for hours
well now I have this scenario stuck in my head

This is for all (3) of y'all that wanted this fic, so I wrote a lil bit and I hope you like it! I took inspiration from Lady and the Tramp ofc, it just felt right
~
Mary blinked her eyes open blearily and yawned as wide as her little mouth could. While she was stretching her legs and trying to figure out just how to jump down off the bed, something dawned on her and and she wondered how she could have possibly forgotten. She had to wake up her people, of course! How could they start their day without her help, Mary had no idea.
Mary carefully climbed up the bed between Peanut and Bub's limbs, they really did need a bigger bed with all three of them in it every night. She nudged her head under Peanut's arm, but that only resulted in a grunt and the arm disappeared under the covers. So much for waking up Peanut first today. He never was an early riser, but she always tried to wake him first because he was the one who started breakfast (including Mary's) each morning. Peanut even made her special food for her sensitive stomach. Bub thought it was silly and told Peanut that it would be much easier to just buy special dog food. Everytime Bub said that Peanut just growled at him. She couldn't tell him, but Mary really did appreciate it and loved Peanut all the more for it. (He was her favorite human, but don't tell Bub, it might make him sad.)
Very carefully, Mary jumped down to the floor and ran over to the other side of the bed where Bub was. She tried licking his hand to wake him up, but that only made him giggle a little, still asleep. So she had to do what she had to do and bit his little finger, just a little. Bub yelped and sat up (finally!). He looked around the room and when it came up empty of threats, he looked down. Mary could barely contain her excitement as Bub grinned wide at her and scooped her up.
"I'm up, Mary! Are you hungry? Come on, Peanut needs his beauty sleep." Bub walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen with Mary in tow.
He started to put together her food and got out the stuff to make his and Peanut's breakfast, which made Mary just a little bit nervous. Sometimes when Bub tried to do this, he did something wrong that made Peanut scold him and the whole apartment would smell like smoke for the rest of the day. Mary really didn't like when that happened, but today seemed to be one of the days where Bub did a good job so Mary was proud of him for that.
She ate and watched as Bub put his and Peanut's food on plates and sat them on the table just as Peanut walked in blearily eyed and obviously still half asleep. Mary had noticed that Peanut didn't like to sleep alone or wasn't able to, which she understood. That just meant she got to sleep on the bed with both of her people at the same time. It was a win win.
Peanut walked past the table and over to Bub, stopping to pet Mary briefly. He always gave the best head scratches.
Bub grabbed Peanut's hips and kissed him. From Mary's angle so close to the floor, she could tell that Peanut smiled into the kiss. The longer Mary and Peanut lived in Bub's apartment, the more often he smiled. She saw that and her tail wagged behind her at the thought.
"Thanks for making breakfast, Bub," Peanut said as he sipped his coffee. Mary had settled under the table in between Bub and Peanut's feet, just in case they dropped something.
"Anything for my Peanut." Bub replied. He leaned down with a piece of bacon in his hand. "Here Mary, don't tell anybody," he giggled and looked up at Peanut as he said it. Mary didn't understand the point in asking her to keep a secret if he was just going to give himself away, but she digressed.
As Mary predicted, Peanut huffed a little but made no move to stop Bub. "You're gonna hurt her stomach and I'm not going to listen to you cry about it later."
Bub smirked and looked down at Mary again. "Shhh, he knows nothing." Bub was so silly, Mary loved him so much.
That got a small laugh out of Peanut and Mary hopes they would have mornings like this forever, and she was almost sure they would when Peanut and Bub got up to clean their breakfast mess together even though Bub was the one who made all the dishes dirty and continued their light banter. Later, they all laid on the couch with Peanut's head on Bub's shoulder and Mary in Bub's lap and she couldn't have been happier.
~
Damn this got a little sappier than I thought it would but I'm happy with it. They're a little familyyyy:)))
@logictoinsanity @whiskeyandcigarsmoke @yummygender @read-and-wip @killjoymjofficial @arthurhowlett
NEW HEADCANNON. Mary Puppins thinks Wade and Logan's names are Bub and Peanut because that all they ever call each other, like Lady in Lady and the Tramp thinks her owners' names are Darling and Jim Dear.

Thinking about the role of the "love interest" in superhero media and how poolverine subverts this.
The "love interest" in most movies is just a placeholder. Boring. Tame, Predictable.
This is especially true in action media, wherein romance takes a backseat and is often seen as an add-on rather than a main plot point. Romance is either a source of conflict or motivation that serves to drive a character arc forward, but no more or less.
Take, for example, Vanessa. I love her character. Her personality and character are fascinating. However, especially in Deadpool 2 and 3, she serves more as a device to move the plot forward rather than a genuine character. The first movie established her character and importance, so it's understandable why Wade chose to hide his identity and how he slowly came to terms with his new identity. She helped move his character arc of self-acceptance forward, yes, but she also existed as her own entity.
In the movies after this, she isn't treated with the same care. She's used as a central motivation in Deadpool 2, a force that drives Wade to save Russel and confront Cable when his character motivations aren't easily tied to morals. However, that's it. She isn't fighting alongside him or given the same treatment as the other important "family" characters. In Deadpool 3, she's treated with even less care, only having short scenes at the beginning and end of the movie to give Wade a representation of "home."
This isn't to say Vanessa isn't an important character and shouldn't be treated as such. However, the purpose of having a "love interest" in an action movie's plot isn't just to have someone to love. It's almost always to have someone who can be kidnapped or killed to spring the main character into action. It's someone who fades to the sidelines so the main character can show off while showcasing their relationship success.
Consider this: in all of the Marvel comic universes, Deadpool and Wolverine have had many different partners. Different names, different faces. It's common for the "love interest" of a superhero to be seen as an accessory that changes shape depending on the comic artist or franchise. After all, they don't need a cohesive identity to serve their purpose as a "general, digestible reason for the main character to act."
Everyone understands how love can cause people to do crazy things. There is no further elaboration needed, even for morally grey or black characters. It's an easy way to make an understandable motive for the audience. Suspension of disbelief.
And yet, the superheroes remain the same. They get to keep their identity throughout different media. It's always Wolverine and Deadpool. Logan and Wade. Even if they have slightly different plotlines, their core characteristics and intrinsic identity are constant.
Logan could have Jean Gray. Or Mariko. Or Silver Fox. He can have anyone play the role of "love interest," a role that can be shapen by a ball of clay and changed entirely to fit the narrative.
But his "rival" and "best friend" in the multiverse will always be Deadpool. They're notorious for being referenced in each other's media. For fighting. For working together. They are A Set.
This is why I'm so much more drawn to Poolverine than other ships. Wade has different love interests depending on the media type. So does Logan. I can't tie in knowledge from different interpretations into the romance because the love interests are fluid. But with each other, they interact in almost every universe. Have a consistent bond. A "standard." They're soulmates, in a way, forever destined to meet and be important to each other.
This is setting aside how female love interests are treated in male-oriented media in general. They're normally seen as someone to be protected, to stay at home, and welcome back the hero when they return. Some are allowed to be strong, to have abilities, but rarely ever do they stand on equal footing with the male main character. Not where it matters.
This is exhibited in both Wolverine and Deadpool's movies. Vanessa is introduced as a "badass," someone who's part of the underworld and knows how to fight, yet she's often placed in the damsel in distress position. She could match Wade before his mutation, maybe, but after he dons the mask and becomes Deadpool, his work is over her pay grade. The same happens with Mariko in the Wolverine movie: she's initially introduced as someone who can fight, but Logan ends up protecting her almost entirely and is responsible for rescuing her from her kidnapping at the end.
It creates an emotional rift between the side of the "hero" and the side of the "love interest," because it feels like they aren't fighting together for the same cause. It feels like the love interest is treated more as a "reward" for the hero to come back to after saving the world rather than a person.
When the entire movie follows the perspective of the main character as they fight, and action scenes are primarily used to invoke emotion, it feels lackluster to have the love interest stay at home. The most intense moments of emotional connection are typically portrayed between the hero and someone else who understands their suffering who they're trying to reach, such as a villain or rival or friend.
Love interests are never on the same "playing field" as the main character and thus can't relate to their struggle. The director tells the audience that they should be happy or sad when a love interest is on screen, but they don't show the same level of emotional depth when the main point of an action movie is action. The entire premise of the main character is action, and yet the love interest is absent from it. Or a victim rather than a player.
This is why Poolverine subverts this trope. You have two people, each with their own franchise and life. Each with their own skills. Each with similarly powerful abilities.
They are equals and are treated as such by the narrative. They take each other seriously and have an emotional connection because they understand each other's suffering. They both are out on the battlefield, fighting the same war and overcoming their differences. They both are allowed to have "cool" scenes and "sad" scenes and "funny" scenes. They both are given the spotlight to experience character growth and have their own unique internal conflict because they both are strong characters who are narratively important.
They both have chemistry. Which is nearly impossible to attain when the love interest isn't even in the lab.

all i’m saying is- Logan and Wade both have raging PTSD, trauma, dealt with incredible loss, where in the military, and have been given shit ass cards in life. Both have expressed just wanting to experience happiness but are treated like weapons/destructive and unable to keep people in their lives due to that.
So of course when they finally get together and realise they are actually truly stuck with one another, and neither can die/be physically hurt they are just gonna settle down together forever. Because what’s better than another unkillable immortal than one that has also been through the same terrible fucked up shit and can actually relate to it all.
When they finally come to the mutual decision to give up the life of killing and destruction they retire and leave the city to settle down in a small woodsy town, probably south but still within reasonable driving distance of the X-mansion and Al. they get married and just go full throttle domestic, small little house with a garden and big back yard; just them and Mary.
Everyone in the town is familiar with them, even though they seem a little off, but they do all their shopping at the local markets and are always friendly and willing to do any grunt work/help out neighbours and the community. Although they do relatively stick to themselves most of the time.
They would also both definitely get soft, Logan would still jog in the mornings and has a little at home gym in their garage he’d work out in mainly to blow off steam, but he has a little tummy now and doesn’t look like he’s dehydrated and withering away. Wade definitely wouldn’t give a shit and is just happy he doesn’t have to work anymore and has his domestic family life he always wanted so he’s more indulgent and a little lazy so he gets Chunky. but Logan loves it because it’s just representative of their retirement and the softness of their life now.
I also imagine they go back home for the holidays for the first time in a bit, and everyone is a little shocked at first bc they look so different, not just physically but the happiness just radiates off of them and everything about them is so warm and inviting. Ness sees Wade for the first time and almost bursts into tears because of how happy and content he finally is after all shit he’s been through.
basically domestic poolverine is the best that is all

for those of you who don't know, usually when i like a fic of my mutuals, i'd show them my favorite part of it bc that's just how i appreciate things but this? THIS?? I WANT EVERY WORD LIQUIDIFIED AND INJECTED TO MY VEINS. I NEED THIS IN MY BLOOD you have no idea i wish i was joking that's how much i love it
unhappy man syndrome by gossippool (~4.5k, 1/? chapters)
They were gone. He would have thought that when they left him, if they ever did, it would feel all at once revolutionary, like a rug swept out from under his feet, stealing his breath. But it wasn't.
sooo @buckyscap made this post about logan accidentally stabbing al and i usually never write inspired fics but this idea had a death grip on me IMMEDIATELY. i've been meaning to write heavier angst and whump for poolverine too so this was perfect. and it's whumptober!!! happy whumptober!! i'm so excited about this it's gonna be a ride

Yeah know what...
I'm just gonna go back thru all my bookmarked Poolverine fics, and read them all over again. And I'm gonna leave comments on every one, because why not. I enjoy and love what everyone wrotes, it brightens up my damn day. Sometimes, stories about these two idiots is the only thing that gets me to laugh or smile. Some of these stories have helped me break down and cry, letting out a bunch of pent of emotions. Some of these Poolverine fics have helped me re-look and examine myself.
So yeah, I'm gonna leave a bunch of comments. It's the least I can do for all the amazing works these fanfiction authors have given me for free.
Go find your favorite fic and let that author know what their story means to you.

Do you love Deadpool? Do you just want him to be happy and cute and sane away from all those meanies that the stories call his "friends"? Do you see him smile and wish you could protect that beautiful smile forever?
Tumblr media
Uh, well, in any case, here is a group for you!!
(PS: nothing personal, I'm sure you're all great people, but if you ship Poolverine or any other ship where Wade's partner is rude, mean, abusive or cruel towards him, and join the server anyways, please do not mention it in any of the channels because it makes me genuinely uncomfortable. This is the Deadpool PROTECTION Squad, not the Deadpool Hurting Squad, thank you!!)

Spider-Man has forever been my all time favourite hero, I’m not really into comics or super-hero movies and despite my love for the character I’ve never done much digging into the fandom. It was mostly just a passive feeling of “THATS MY GUY” regarding the character.
But NOW
I’ve somehow been reminded of the spideypool ship because of the craze about Poolverine (for which I have little interest) and I’ve just become even more obsessed with both spider man and Deadpool thanks to the fanfics I’m reading.
Peter having a breakdown because of his spidey sense? That’s just like me having meltdowns because of sensory overload!
Wade fighting with his boxes? Yass baby love an overwhelmingly harsh internal monologue!
Spider-Man struggling with his hidden identity? Omg talk about a metaphor for trans identity!
Deadpool being a raging pansexual? Yeah I mean keep it in your pants but otherwise SLAY QUEEN IM JUST LIKE THEM
