Honestly, the reason I like this movie, and this scene in particular so much, it's cause this is the closest we've ever gotten to seeing Kankuro flirting with a woman, or with anyone really. Though it's a tiny bit creepy how she like "flirts" with him and calls him "sweetie", given that we don't know how old she is, and she looks like an adult (she does the same with Shikamaru later on too, when she calls him handsome). But ignoring that creepiness, I really liked their interactions? Yeah, it's a movie filler, Nart movies bad, blah, blah, idc. I think this is the only one I've ever liked, purely because of all the spotlight Kank gets in it. And I liked seeing him interacting with another woman that's not his sister for once, like that's cool. Poor boy, looked like he was enjoying their fight and banter, and looked completely heartbroken, when he saw her transforming into an ugly beast, like "what happened to her"? The tone in which he says it, it really sounds like: "nooo, you were pretty before, go back to being pretty". And it also gives us the barest of ideas, of how Kank would be and act, when he's being flirted with. Again, when she called him sweety (again, let's just for a minute ignore the probable age gap and solely focus on his reaction). He fucking smiles. His reaction is one of pleasure and happiness. He asks her to not leave, and when she does, he runs after her. So Kankuro enjoys being praised, and doesn’t shy away from the compliments. It's a core trait of his, that he hates being underestimated, and even leans on the cocky side. Again, I like this a lot. Definitely a movie worth watching, if you like the sand sibs, though Temari doesn't appear in it for some odd inexplicable reason.
A funny scene with Kankuro from the 2nd Naruto movie.
I laughed way harder than I should have at this and felt like sharing.
To be fair I’d never seen this movie before nor expected something like this XD

Pain dispersed up her spin in a bitter sting.
The taste of sand was one she grew to despise and no matter how many times she had gone over the drill, it always ended the same. Wren would start off confident, cocky even, get two good swings in with perfect balance, and then her brother would knock her on her ass.
Mind you, he wasn’t trying to. She knew that, but it didn’t make her feel any different when he had done it thousands of times before. Oberon was much older and knew how to decipher their father’s words a lot clearer than she could.
Though every time she wanted to give up, her father would remind her that children would be taken from their homes at months old and trained as Jedi. The first time he told her this, she cried. His intentions were pure ss gold but she had taken his meaning for overly critical and disappointed. And disappointing her father was the last thing she ever wanted to do because aside from Oberon, he was her only family.
Wren has core memories of feelings. Even feelings from when the was an infant. She remembers her mother’s love for her and her siblings. She remembers the pain and fear of her older sister, and she remembers loneliness in that short period of her and Oberon were on that transport ship. It was a curse and a blessing.
Especially in these hard days of training. Disappointment and pain was what embedded in her mind.
“Wren, if you do not want to succeed in your drills — You won’t.” Her father said, placing a hand on the beam to still its movements.
She grunts, coughing up the sand that aimed to congest her lungs. And after a moment to catch her breath, got to her feet once again, dusting the sticking sand from her front.
“I want to succeed, isi. I do, I swear it.” She promised desperately, feeling disappointed in herself for another failed attempt.
It was her eighth failure that week and she could tell her father grew tired. He would never admit that aloud because she was his daughter and he wanted to encourage her, not belittle her. It wouldn’t help her focus; Oberon had already tried it the week before and it only made her upset.
She didn’t talk to anyone for two days and did all her normal house chores without being told.
Wren missed her mother. She loved her father but she missed when her mother would sing for her until she fell asleep, she missed her hugs and kisses.
“What is on your mind, Little one?” Her father asked warmly, his brows furrowing lightly.
She looked up to meet his eyes, bashful and ashamed. “The last time I saw my mother. . .” She paused, before decidedly continuing. “She loved us so much and that’s the only side I saw from her…love. Then it wasn’t. It was fear.”
She watched his face grow solemn and his heart fall in the sickening abyss of mourn.
“I can remember all her emotions. I remember Aurora’s emotions. It’s like a womp rat that I can’t shake. All those emotions are stuck in my brain and at night. . .” Tears welled up in her eyes as pain constricted her chest. “At night…I see Aurora being killed in front of my eyes. I see my mother running off in the opposite direction to fend off the invaders and cause a large enough distraction so that we could make it to those damned transport ships.” She managed to choke out in between each hiccup that exploded in her chest.
The pain was unbearable.
She could feel her brother’s eyes on her but her vision was far too blurred to interpret what he was thinking.
Her father closed in on her and his hands felt heavy on her shoulders as he pressed his forehead to hers. “And I will regret not being there for the rest of my life. I feel mortified that you had to go through that. Both of you. Your mother meant the world to me. She would have wanted me to make sure our children could defend themselves and that is what I will do.” His words soothed her anxieties.
The tone of his voice and the love and care behind every word made the pain go away.
Not trusting her voice, she nodded and pressed her lips together to silence her hiccups. He pressed a long kiss to her forehead and allowed his touch to soak into her skin; he was creating a loving memory for her to carry with her. That thought alone almost broke her but she remained still and didn’t cry anymore.
For the first time in weeks, Wren felt safe. She felt at peace with all the chaos around her.
Her father was her light. She knew that she’d be lost without him, just like she’d be lost without Oberon. They were the needle and thread that kept her stitched together.
Without another word, her father slowly lowered her to the ground and she was instantly met with the serenity of meditation. It was unlike all the other times she had tried to concentrate on her medication; she simply did.
Her entire body filled with warmth and a heavy blanket of comfort overwhelmed her. When she opened her eyes, metaphorically speaking, she could see all the Jedi before her.
Wren was surrounded by white and sat in the centre, all the past Jedi sitting around her forming a circle. Some of them smiled, others remained neutral. It was like a dream but Wren knew she hadn’t fallen asleep.
“The Jedi before are with you, Wren Kenobi. The force is with you.” A stoic man said, his skin colour almost matching her own. He was bald too, but she knew that wasn’t what was important.
A soft smile found its way onto her face as she peered at each and every one of them.
“I have to admit. . .I saw your existence coming, young one.” Said a man with shoulder length sandy brown hair. His smile was peaceful and made her chest feel warm. He felt familiar, though she was sure they’d never met before.
“I am Qui-Gon Jinn. Your father was my student, he was just like you.” He began and she listened.
“Qui-Gon Jinn…” She mumbled under her breath, as if to remember it.
“He was stubborn and failed many times, but he got up every time. He knew what he wanted to fight for, what he wanted to protect.” He told her, kneeling in front of her and placing his gentle hands on her shoulders. ”That’s the key to every success. Know what you are fighting for — more importantly, know what you want to protect.”
She stared up at him thoughtfully before her brows pinched together and she looks down at her lap. “But Master. . .what if I don’t know what I want to fight for? What I want to protect?” She asked, peering back up at him with eyes glistening with the ghosts of her past.
He smiled and placed one hand on the top of her head, the other on her heart. “If you allow your mind and your heart to connect with the force, it will guide you. But only you and you alone can decide what you are willing to fight to protect.” He reassured her, though she still hadn’t known what he meant. The deeper meaning that is.
When her eyes opened and her meditation was broke, she was faced with her father who seemed satisfied with the small smile on her lips.
“Are you ready to try again?” He asked.
She glanced over at her brother, who was twirling two staffs carved of wood in each of his hands, nonchalantly may she add. He was slightly cockier because his combat skills were more fine tuned than hers.
When she looked back at her father, a look of determination replaced her serene expression. Wren nodded, climbing to her feet with her father’s help and dusted away the cruel Tatooine nights off her backside.
Wren was ready to learn. And so she would learn.
