Toxic (not Brittany Spears)
Have I put off making this post for a week? I sure have! You know why? People are toxic. I understand that not everyone will agree with my opinions (and facts), but there has to be a line.
First off- hello. I’m just your average mother ducker trying to find a way in this strange world. Just a few facts about me and what this shit post will be about- Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and The Lord of the Rings. Yeah bitch, we’re talking about fandoms. Buckle it- this is gonna be a bumpy ride.
For starters- Everything nowadays is toxic. Anyone can find something wrong with anything. Do you enjoy something? I’m sure someone’s bashing it right as we speak- because they like to fuck with other people. That came out wrong.
Being toxic isn’t anything new. In fact, the main reason I left the Harry Potter fandom was due to how toxic the community, “Potterheads”, were. I used to love and enjoy this series- but I could NOT take it anymore. Everyone was bashing Harry, loving Dramione, hating Ron, and.... Well... Have you seen J.K. Rowling? The fandom was WAY too defensive. If you said ANYTHING wrong about it- “true fans” attacked you. Are you a Gryffindor? Then you’re “not a real fan- since you just wanna be like Harry, Ron, and Hermione.” Bitch, if you want to be a Gryffindor- BE A GRYFFINDOR. A lot of fans took this trend WAY too far for my personal liking- but if you really love something- then embrace it (as long as its not murder, homophobic, racist, and so on). I got attacked by hoards of people and anons on Wattpad and Quizup around two years ago. I cried like a baby, to be honest. That’s why I left the fandom. My family was ultimately concerned why I had a sudden disinterest in my former favorite book and movie series. I just played it off as, “I was getting older.” But, this isn’t about dissing Harry Potter. It’s about sharing my personal opinions on how toxic fandoms have become.
Although two years ago I love Harry Potter with all my heart- I’ve found a new love about a year ago. Star Wars. I had always teased my friends and family who liked it- even though I never gave it a chance. But, when I actually sat down and watched it- I became enthralled in the saga. It’s been a year since then- and I’m very passionate about it. Star Wars has been around for over forty years, meaning you have a variety of fans.
• Originals who think that everything else sucks
• Prequels who enjoy the originals and prequels as well as reddit memes,
• Sequels who hate prequels but love sequels and originals
• Memers who are only in it for the meme
• Fourteen year old girls (and guys) who think the actors are hot and most likely ship Reylo
• Saga Lovers, who love EVERYTHING
• EU fans who have read the EU, seen TCW, and are disappointed with the sequels, but accept them
• Fans who have accepted the fact that they can’t get everything they want and aren’t toxic (RARE)
Those are just a select few categories! It just shows how toxic people are these days. We shouldn’t be categorized on how we are in a fandom- we should embrace that we all love Star Wars, and accept differences. But, of course, that would be a miracle!
A large majority of the fandom dissed the prequels. I, personally, loved the prequels (although slightly corny). I even loved The Force Awakens. I’ve read some of the novels (and plan to read more, though they’re considered legends), and have tried binging TCW. But, I’ve got to draw the line somewhere. I personally didn’t like The Last Jedi. There were certain moments that I enjoyed- but overall, it’s my least favorite Star Wars film (we dont speak of the Holiday Special). I have high hopes for The Rise Of Skywalker- but here’s the thing...
Prequel fans, I love you. You witnessed the prequels get dissed for YEARS- then suddenly, everyone loves the prequels because they don’t love the sequels. You’ve been through hell- and you’re thriving watching the fandom fall apart.
Originals- get something through your head. We all love the originals. We’ve got you boo 😘! Although the prequels and sequels are different (Anon: Wait... TFA is basically ANH)- we WANT different. But to a certain extent. Still, we love the originals. We wouldn’t have Star Wars without the originals.
Sequel Fans- Hush, you’re okay, boo. But you need to chill out a bit, okay? Not everyone’s going to LOVE the sequels- and that’s okay. If you like it- awesome! But- don’t be toxic just because people (and duckers like me) don’t personally like The Last Jedi.
TO ALL STANDALONE LOVERS- Rogue One was a masterpiece, and we STAN. Solo, I’m sorry that you didn’t do well in the box office. Solo was an amazing movie. ...we love you...
But... But. BUT. I have to draw the line somewhere on sugarcoating. I, personally, don’t like Reylo. I actually hate the very idea of it. But not everyone’s racist, not everyone thinks Kylo is a child rapist, and not everyone thinks Adam Driver is hot. People ship what they ship. I don’t agree with it- and although half of Reylo shippers are hateful- that doesn’t mean we should spread hate as well. Anti’s can be toxic. Reylos can be toxic. Anti-Antis can be toxic. point is- everyone can be toxic. Does that make it okay? No. Hell no. I didn’t like Rose’s character. But I love Kelly Marie Tran as an actress and person- she’s so kind and didn’t deserve the hate. It’s not her fault her character is badly written.
Moving on from Star Wars and it’s currently toxic fandom- I bring you the MCU. Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’ve only been a part of the MCU fandom for about a month or two- and I’ve gotta say, I’m disappointed. Although many of you are very kind and welcoming- I’ve seen posts attacking people. Tom Holland’s girlfriend (not confirmed) was getting SO much hate. What the duck is wrong with you people? Tom Holland deserves to have a relationship without people hating on his partner. He has a life. Lay off. Personally, I think they‘re adorable together. That’s my opinion. But don’t send HATE to innocent people. Don’t send hate to anyone PERIOD unless they truly did something wrong. By far, the MCU has one of the MOST toxic yet supporting fandoms I have ever seen. It’s confusing- but true.
The last fandom of the day is: THE LORD OF THE RINGS. I rarely see any hate for this fandom- which is amazing. The fandom truly cares about J.R.R. Tolkien and his legacy.
Sorry for the rant- but Potter Heads, Star Wars Fans (my galactic mother duckers), and MCU fans need to freaking chill. We love you- but y’all need to learn some respect. I admit I’ve done some shit to people- but that doesn’t make it right. But y’all need to learn to be KIND. Thank you for reading this Ted Talk.

After facing the wrath of her mother, Avalon finds herself under the stars with the-boy-who-lived and their bond begins to form.
𝐂𝐖: This chapter will contain mentions of poverty, child abuse & neglect, character death, childhood trauma, fluffy Harry and Ava moments, anxiety.
Word count: 1.1K
<- Previous Chapter || Next Chapter ->
The night sky twinkled above like a hoard of fireflies, displaying every ounce of hope that filled Avalon. She adored the stars as much as Orpheus treasured Eurydice. To her, each star carried a dream belonging to every single person in the world, placed up in the sky to showcase that everyone has aspirations.
Avalon was definitely a dreamer. She was a wild spirit that carried her mother’s heart in every step. The subjects that she looked forward to most at Hogwarts, were Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures. Avalon loved hearing all about Charlie’s dragon reserve, and she kept every single one of her mother’s astronomy stories in the back of her mind.
If someone were to ask her to choose between the two, she’d probably short-circuit.
— Harry’s voice cut into her peaceful silence, and she couldn’t help but jump. “Avalon? What are you doing out here?”
She shifted her head in his direction, only to see that he was still dressed in his day clothes.
“I’ve been sneaking out to look up at the stars since I was five.” She claimed, smiling slightly at the memories of her childhood.
He didn’t say anything as his figure approached. Instead, he simply sat beside her and peered up at the sky. “Mum used to tell me that every star above is a lost soul sent to look after their loved ones.” She paused for a moment, sparing the curious boy a small glance. “I like to think that as long as those stars gleam, there is always hope.”
“I think that’s a wonderful way of thinking about them. Me personally, I can’t see the stars back with the Dursleys.” Harry says, glancing her way briefly.
“Can I ask you something, Harry?” She asked, shifting to face him, her side slightly inching from the grass scratching into her skin.
“Go on,” he encouraged, shifting to face her as well.
Her eyes beamed with a light that represented something he hadn’t felt since his first time arriving at Hogwarts.
“Does Hogwarts change you? I promised dad that I wouldn’t change.” Her words seemed to hit deep, because for a moment, he just stared at her.
She felt that anxiety from before slowly seep up from its hiding place, but refused to let it control her before he could answer.
“Yes. Hogwarts does change you. Sometimes, for the better. Other times. . .” He explored truthfully, his eyes softening with every word.
Avalon swallowed back the anxiety and nodded lightly. “I can choose whether it changes me for better or worse, right?” Her question was so innocent, and for the first time in years, it felt like someone understood her.
He smiled softly, turning back onto his spine. “Of course! Hogwarts is a place for opportunity. Only you can choose what to do with the changes being presented to you.”
His words calmed her heart, so she rolled onto her back and looked up at the stars, weight instantly lifted from her chest.
“Punch me if this is insensitive, but, do you remember anything about your parents?” She felt his body tense beside her, but the shooting star captured her attention.
“I see glimpses.” He mumbled, causing her head to roll in his direction, curiously sparking her.
“Sometimes in my dreams, I see her green eyes, her cooking apron, and even her red hair. She was beautiful. I didn’t need a photo album to know that.” He says, a warm smile stretching across his face.
Harry’s loving smile caused a chain reaction, setting off a smile of her own. “I’m sure she was,” she commented.
“And with my dad, I saw his glasses. There was always a part of me that felt like I resembled him. A photograph proved my theory to be correct.” Harry continued, shifting one of his arms under his head to get comfortable.
“Even the dishevelled black hair?” She asked, playfully, receiving a small laugh in return which told her all she needed to know.
“What subject are you looking forward to at Hogwarts?” He asked, after a moment of silence.
“Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures. Though, I reckon Potions wouldn’t be too bad either.” She responded, yawning quietly.
“I wouldn’t count on enjoyment being part of potions. The potions master has some vendetta against children. A total muppet, that one.” He snorted, causing her brows to furrow.
“Really? That’s a shame. He probably has deep-seated family issues.” She commented, sympathy for a man she hardly knows immediately filled her.
“He has deep-seated issues alright…” Harry muttered, exhaling deeply.
There were more moments of peaceful silence, until Harry caught sight of something on her temple. “Hey, how’d you get that?” He asked, aiming a figure at the scar she acquired years ago.
“Oh, I hit my head on a rock after getting swept by the river current. Charlie, — who im sure, Ron has told you about, — wanted to teach me how to swim.” She began, her nimble fingers picking at her sleeves. “He hadn’t anticipated the river to be as wild as it was, and his back was turned, only for a moment.”
“How old were you?” He asked, tilting his head.
“Six. Mum nearly croaked when Charlie brought me home, his shirt pressed against my head.” She says, a simper pulling the corners of her lips.
“I used to tell the other kids in school that I got my scar from an actual lightning bolt.” Harry ventured with a small chuckle.
An overly amused grin spread out over her face. “There’s no bloody way they believed that!” She exclaimed lightly, disbelief overwhelming her senses.
Harry laughed, nodding frantically. “No! They actually did! Even claimed that I’d have super powers because of it.”
The pair broke out in fits of laughter, unable to stop. It was as if all the worries had been suctioned from the atmosphere.
And if they had eyes in the back of their heads, they would have seen a dishevelled, Molly Weasley, standing in the centre of the kitchen. Her worry slipping away at the sight of the two.
The scene in front of her was truly a heartwarming moment and she planned on cherishing it for the rest of her life. With one last smile, the mother left the two children under the stars and returned to her sleeping quarters.
For the next few weeks, Harry and Avalon laid under the stars, talking about anything and everything under the sun. It became the new normal for them; a tradition, if you will.
One that Avalon hoped to continue until every star crumbled into stardust.
Because Avalon could count on Harry being there to collect each speck in order to fabricate stars of their own.

“Touchdown!” Fred called out as a slight bump indicated that they hit the ground.
Ava grumbled bitterly upon the rude wake-up, but sat up to rub her sleepy eyes. She saw that Fred had lowered the car next to the garage in their small yard, and Harry looked out for the first time at the house.
Ron had always told her that It looked as though it had once been a large stone pigpen, but extra rooms had been added here and there until it was several stories high and so crooked it looked as though it were held up by magic (which, it probably was). Four or five chimneys were perched on top of the red roof. A lopsided sign stuck in the ground near the entrance read, THE BURROW.
Around the front door lay the jumble of rubber boots, that no one ever bothered to pick up, and a very rusty cauldron. Several fat brown chickens were pecking their way around the yard, and Ava knew that her mum had to of let them out, which wasn’t a good sign.
“It’s not much,” said Ron, sheepishly.
“It’s wonderful,” said Harry happily, making Ava smile tiredly.
They got out of the car, Ava immediately climbing George’s body like a jungle gym in order to rest on his back. She had no energy to walk upstairs and he didn’t seem to mind, he simply hooked his hands under her knees to stabilise her weight.
“Now, we’ll go upstairs really quietly,” said Fred, “and wait for Mum to call us for breakfast. Then, Ron, you come bounding downstairs going, ‘Mum, look who turned up in the night!’ and she’ll be all pleased to see Harry and no one need ever know we flew the car.”
“Right,” said Ron. “Come on, Harry, I sleep at the — at the top —” Ron had gone a nasty greenish colour, his eyes fixed on the house.
The other three wheeled around, while Ava just hid her face in George’s neck. She didn’t have to look up to know that their mum was probably marching across the yard toward them. Ava could hear the chickens scattering.
“Ah,” Fred whimpered. “Oh, dear,” gasped George.
Avalon finally looked up to see their mum coming to a halt in front of them, her hands on her hips, staring from one guilty face to the next. She was wearing a flowered apron with a wand sticking out of the pocket. “So,” she said.
“It was all Ava’s idea! She insisted that we go rescue Harry from the muggles. Right, Ava?” Fred claimed, pointing to the sleepy girl.
“It was my idea. Hi, mummy.” Ava yawned out, giving a small wave that softened their mum’s stern glare.
“Morning, Mum,” said George, in what he clearly thought was a jaunty, winning voice.
“Have you any idea how worried I’ve been?” Their mum reprimanded, in a deadly whisper.
“Sorry, Mum, but see, we had to —” All three Ava’s brothers were taller than their mum was, but they cowered as her rage broke over them. “Beds empty! No note! Car gone — could have crashed — out of my mind with worry — did you care? — Your sister could have gotten hurt — never, as long as I’ve lived — you wait until your father gets home, we never had trouble like this from Bill or Charlie or Percy —”
“Perfect Percy,” muttered Fred, sourly. “YOU COULD DO WITH TAKING A LEAF OUT OF PERCY’S BOOK!” Their mother yelled, prodding a finger in Fred’s chest, making Ava flinch but George drew circles on her knew to bring her comfort. “You could have died, you could have been seen, you could have lost your father his job —” It seemed to go on for hours.
Their mum had shouted herself hoarse before she turned on Harry, who backed away. “I’m very pleased to see you, Harry, dear,” she said, much more friendly. “Come in and have some breakfast.” She turned and walked back into the house and Harry, after a nervous glance at Ron, who nodded encouragingly, followed her.
The kitchen was small and rather cramped, as per usual. There was a scrubbed wooden table and chairs in the middle, and Harry sat down on the edge of his seat, looking around. He must have never been in a wizard house before, Ava thought to herself.
The clock on the wall opposite him had only one hand and no numbers at all. Written around the edge were things like Time to make tea, Time to feed the chickens, and You’re late. Books were stacked three deep on the mantelpiece, books with titles like Charm Your Own Cheese, Enchantment in Baking, and One Minute Feasts — It’s Magic!
Avalon could hear her mum’s radio, which had been next to the sink, announce that coming up was “Witching Hour, with the popular singing sorceress, Celestina Warbeck.” She almost smiled because it was one of her favourite songs.
Ava watched her mum clattering around, cooking breakfast a little haphazardly, throwing dirty looks at her sons as she threw sausages into the frying pan. Every now and then she muttered things like “don’t know what you were thinking of,” and “never would have believed it.” “I don’t blame you, dear,” she assured Harry, tipping eight or nine sausages onto his plate. “Arthur and I have been worried about you, too. Just last night we were saying we’d come and get you ourselves if you hadn’t written back to Ron by Friday. But really,” (she was now adding three fried eggs to his plate) “flying an illegal car halfway across the country — anyone could have seen you —” She flicked her wand casually at the dishes in the sink, which began to clean themselves, clinking gently in the background.
The boys sat down in their normal spots but Ava merely curled up on George’s lap, closing her eyes once more in hopes of her dreamworld making a return.
“It was cloudy, Mum!” Fred protested, mouth full of food.
“You keep your mouth closed while you’re eating!” Their mum snapped, scolding the boy for his manners.
“They were starving him, Mum!” George cried out, considerately quieter than usual to accommodate his sleepy sister.
“And you!” Their mum snapped, but she softened when Ava sat up, wide awake.
At that moment there was a diversion. Ginny, who still wore her long nightdress, appeared in the kitchen. She met Harry’s curious gaze and gave a small squeal, before ran out again. “Ginny,” informed Ron, in an undertone to Harry. “My other sister. She’s been talking about you all summer.”
“Yeah, she’ll be wanting your autograph, Harry,” Fred said with a grin, but he caught their mother’s eye and bent his face over his plate without another word.
“Shut your trap, Ronald. Or else I’ll tell Harry all your secrets.” Ava muttered, reluctantly moving into her chair to eat.
Ron glared at her but she couldn’t care less. “You can’t-…”
“Spill anymore confidential information and I won’t hesitate.” Ava responded, bluntly and while stabbing her fork into a strawberry.
Nothing more was said until all four plates were clean, which took a surprisingly short time. Avalon was the first to finish because she was a vegetarian, much to their family’s dismay.
“Blimey, I’m tired,” yawned Fred, setting down his knife and fork at last. “I think I’ll go to bed and —”
“You will not,” her mum barked. “It’s your own fault you’ve been up all night. You’re going to de-gnome the garden for me; they’re getting completely out of hand again —”
“Oh, Mum —” “And you two,” she said, glaring at Ron and Fred. “You can go up to bed, dear,” she added to Harry. “You as well, Ava. You didn’t ask them to fly that wretched car —”
But Harry, who seemingly looked wide awake, said quickly, “I’ll help Ron. I’ve never seen a de-gnoming —”
“That’s very sweet of you, dear, but it’s dull work,” said their mum. “Now, let’s see what Lockhart’s got to say on the subject —” And she pulled a heavy book from the stack on the mantelpiece.
George groaned. “Mum, we know how to de-gnome a garden —”
The cover of mum’s book had fancy gold letters with the words Gilderoy Lockhart’s Guide to Household Pests written across it. There was a big photograph on the front of Gilderoy Lockhart, who had wavy blond hair and bright blue eyes. As always in the wizarding world, the photograph was moving; Lockhart kept winking cheekily up at them all, causing Ava to make a face at it.
Her mum beamed down at him like he was an angel. “Oh, he is marvellous,” she said. “He knows his household pests, all right, it’s a wonderful book...”
“Mum fancies him,” said Fred, in a very audible whisper.
“Don’t be so ridiculous, Fred,” said their mum, her cheeks rather pink. “All right, if you think you know better than Lockhart, you can go and get on with it, and woe betide you if there’s a single gnome in that garden when I come out to inspect it.”
Yawning and grumbling, her brothers slouched outside with Harry behind them. While Ava finished up her cup of tea at the table.
“Go on up to bed, dear. Ginny will wake you up for lunch.” Her mum insisted, pressing a soft kiss to her head.
Ava yawned, nodding in acceptance before stumbling upstairs to the room she shared with Ginny.
After all the excitement, Avalon just wanted to sleep.

So, I haven’t been on for a while, same with my Wattpad. I’ve been taking time for myself because my mom recently got covid for the first time, and I ended up getting it for a second.
I haven’t felt the best, I’ve been sleeping A LOT but I’ve also been writing.
I’ve been working on a few different books. I PROMISE that Stygian, Awakening Evergreen, Astoria, Aspirations, ext. will have been update at some point.
However, I’ve been reading ‘Watching The Movies’ type books and I’m obsesseddddd! So I started making one of my own.
I’ve also been posting (slowly!) a Twilight book on Wattpad. It’s called ‘Fatal Attractions’ but I’ve been neglecting it because I LOVE the baseball scene, and I want it to be perfect. However, I haven’t gotten around to looking in Midnight Sun for the scene. (Seeing as I can’t find the book PDF online.)
Thank you for being patient, and I will try to post soon!

. . . 9 BBY
Pain dispersed up her spin in a bitter sting.
The taste of sand was one she grew to despise and no matter how many times she had gone over the drill, it always ended the same. Wren would start off confident, cocky even, get two good swings in with perfect balance, and then her brother would knock her on her ass.
Mind you, he wasn’t trying to. She knew that, but it didn’t make her feel any different when he had done it thousands of times before. Oberon was much older and knew how to decipher their father’s words a lot clearer than she could.
Though every time she wanted to give up, her father would remind her that children would be taken from their homes at months old and trained as Jedi. The first time he told her this, she cried. His intentions were pure ss gold but she had taken his meaning for overly critical and disappointed. And disappointing her father was the last thing she ever wanted to do because aside from Oberon, he was her only family.
Wren has core memories of feelings. Even feelings from when the was an infant. She remembers her mother’s love for her and her siblings. She remembers the pain and fear of her older sister, and she remembers loneliness in that short period of her and Oberon were on that transport ship. It was a curse and a blessing.
Especially in these hard days of training. Disappointment and pain was what embedded in her mind.
“Wren, if you do not want to succeed in your drills — You won’t.” Her father said, placing a hand on the beam to still its movements.
She grunts, coughing up the sand that aimed to congest her lungs. And after a moment to catch her breath, got to her feet once again, dusting the sticking sand from her front.
“I want to succeed, isi. I do, I swear it.” She promised desperately, feeling disappointed in herself for another failed attempt.
It was her eighth failure that week and she could tell her father grew tired. He would never admit that aloud because she was his daughter and he wanted to encourage her, not belittle her. It wouldn’t help her focus; Oberon had already tried it the week before and it only made her upset.
She didn’t talk to anyone for two days and did all her normal house chores without being told.
Wren missed her mother. She loved her father but she missed when her mother would sing for her until she fell asleep, she missed her hugs and kisses.
“What is on your mind, Little one?” Her father asked warmly, his brows furrowing lightly.
She looked up to meet his eyes, bashful and ashamed. “The last time I saw my mother. . .” She paused, before decidedly continuing. “She loved us so much and that’s the only side I saw from her…love. Then it wasn’t. It was fear.”
She watched his face grow solemn and his heart fall in the sickening abyss of mourn.
“I can remember all her emotions. I remember Aurora’s emotions. It’s like a womp rat that I can’t shake. All those emotions are stuck in my brain and at night. . .” Tears welled up in her eyes as pain constricted her chest. “At night…I see Aurora being killed in front of my eyes. I see my mother running off in the opposite direction to fend off the invaders and cause a large enough distraction so that we could make it to those damned transport ships.” She managed to choke out in between each hiccup that exploded in her chest.
The pain was unbearable.
She could feel her brother’s eyes on her but her vision was far too blurred to interpret what he was thinking.
Her father closed in on her and his hands felt heavy on her shoulders as he pressed his forehead to hers. “And I will regret not being there for the rest of my life. I feel mortified that you had to go through that. Both of you. Your mother meant the world to me. She would have wanted me to make sure our children could defend themselves and that is what I will do.” His words soothed her anxieties.
The tone of his voice and the love and care behind every word made the pain go away.
Not trusting her voice, she nodded and pressed her lips together to silence her hiccups. He pressed a long kiss to her forehead and allowed his touch to soak into her skin; he was creating a loving memory for her to carry with her. That thought alone almost broke her but she remained still and didn’t cry anymore.
For the first time in weeks, Wren felt safe. She felt at peace with all the chaos around her.
Her father was her light. She knew that she’d be lost without him, just like she’d be lost without Oberon. They were the needle and thread that kept her stitched together.
Without another word, her father slowly lowered her to the ground and she was instantly met with the serenity of meditation. It was unlike all the other times she had tried to concentrate on her medication; she simply did.
Her entire body filled with warmth and a heavy blanket of comfort overwhelmed her. When she opened her eyes, metaphorically speaking, she could see all the Jedi before her.
Wren was surrounded by white and sat in the centre, all the past Jedi sitting around her forming a circle. Some of them smiled, others remained neutral. It was like a dream but Wren knew she hadn’t fallen asleep.
“The Jedi before are with you, Wren Kenobi. The force is with you.” A stoic man said, his skin colour almost matching her own. He was bald too, but she knew that wasn’t what was important.
A soft smile found its way onto her face as she peered at each and every one of them.
“I have to admit. . .I saw your existence coming, young one.” Said a man with shoulder length sandy brown hair. His smile was peaceful and made her chest feel warm. He felt familiar, though she was sure they’d never met before.
“I am Qui-Gon Jinn. Your father was my student, he was just like you.” He began and she listened.
“Qui-Gon Jinn…” She mumbled under her breath, as if to remember it.
“He was stubborn and failed many times, but he got up every time. He knew what he wanted to fight for, what he wanted to protect.” He told her, kneeling in front of her and placing his gentle hands on her shoulders. ”That’s the key to every success. Know what you are fighting for — more importantly, know what you want to protect.”
She stared up at him thoughtfully before her brows pinched together and she looks down at her lap. “But Master. . .what if I don’t know what I want to fight for? What I want to protect?” She asked, peering back up at him with eyes glistening with the ghosts of her past.
He smiled and placed one hand on the top of her head, the other on her heart. “If you allow your mind and your heart to connect with the force, it will guide you. But only you and you alone can decide what you are willing to fight to protect.” He reassured her, though she still hadn’t known what he meant. The deeper meaning that is.
When her eyes opened and her meditation was broke, she was faced with her father who seemed satisfied with the small smile on her lips.
“Are you ready to try again?” He asked.
She glanced over at her brother, who was twirling two staffs carved of wood in each of his hands, nonchalantly may she add. He was slightly cockier because his combat skills were more fine tuned than hers.
When she looked back at her father, a look of determination replaced her serene expression. Wren nodded, climbing to her feet with her father’s help and dusted away the cruel Tatooine nights off her backside.
Wren was ready to learn. And so she would learn.

. . . 2 BBY
Her father was a strange man.
Or so that’s what he always portrayed himself to be. For as long as Wren knew him, he always had cryptic messages ready for any occasions and overall had a different perspective of life. She always assumed that it was because of all his life experiences.
He rarely shared stories from his past but when he did — Oh, Wren could listen for hours. She found her father to be the most interesting man she knew. Though, technically speaking, he was the only man she knew. (Aside from her brother and Bail Organa, who was a good friend of her father’s.)
Wren learned all about his adventures with his former master, the Clone Wars, her mother. Although she never got to hear about his Padawan. Whenever the topic came up, he averted his attention to another tale. Of course, through the books she collected over the years, Wren knew his name was Anakin Skywalker but she decided not to pressure her father about him.
If he didn’t speak of him it was probably for a good reason.
“Birdie, focus.” Her father’s voice brought her out of her thoughts.
She jumped at his sudden appearance and looked up to meet his eyes.
Wren was supposed to be meditating while he went and made them lunch, but she just couldn’t concentrate. Something felt off. She knew that something was different on their planet but she wasn’t experienced enough to decipher what it was.
“Im sorry, isä. Something just feels. . .off? Something in the force is distracting and its throwing me off.” She apologised, accepting the mug of juice and a plate of veggie wraps, her favourite.
Wren hardly ate meat. Occasionally her father would make Tanarian Vulk bacon but only because it was so rare in the shops of Anchorhead, that was her one exception. She couldn’t resist TV bacon; but other than that she was almost entirely a vegetarian.
“Ah, so you do feel it?” He asked with a sliver of pride as his lips quirked up at the ends.
She noticed that it was rare that her father ever smiled anymore, but when he did it made her feel all warm and safe. She loved his smile. It was a sign of his happiness and affection. Something that was not seen often but she knew was there.
She nodded in response and chewed her food In silence. It was almost as if the force was willing her to be silent but she didn’t mind because she was far too hungry to complain.
“There are two new visitors on this planet. One from my past and another from someone else’s. One with good intentions and one with only one; my demise.” Her father spoke up, allowing her silence to be filled with his explanation.
Her eyes slightly widened at his bluntness but she didn’t speak, in fears of interrupting him.
“Maul is the one that invaded your homeworld, Stella Lux Prime. The one who killed your mother, ordered someone to kill your sister.” And as he went on, Wren could feel her dislike for the man growing.
Wren knew she ought not to feel hate but it was like a disease. This man murdered half her people on their planet, her mother and sister included. How could her father not hate him?
“I do not have any resentment toward Maul. It was never the Jedi way and it was something I stuck too even after the fall of our council.” Said her father, a gentle look on his face. “If we allow our own personal vendettas cloud our vision, how will we see clearly in times of need?” He added, clearing up her confusion.
She swallowed her food and placed her plate on the slab in front of both of them. “I won’t hold a vendetta against him, even after what he did. Lupaan.” Wren says, anger weakening away slowly.
He smiled shortly before leaning over and placed a gentle kiss to her forehead, just as he did many times when she was younger.
“I know you won’t. That is why you will accompany me to confront our visitors.” He insisted, leaving them to finish their lunches in complete silence.
The suns were still present when Wren and her father came across a young boy, no older than eighteen, as well as a white droid with orange, yellow, and green accents. The poor droid had lost charge in the attempt to cross the large acres of Tatooine’s sand field, and the boy lost energy to carry on.
The boy was unconscious at first sight but woke up to the sound of their footsteps. She squat down to his figure and he weakly glanced up at her. Wren couldn’t tell whether he recognised her or not but offered a soft smile in case he did.
The suns would be setting in the next hour so she knew that they had very little time to actually move him, let alone the resources to do so. They had only one blurgg at the time because Rory was sick. The blurgg barely fit the two of them as it was, so it was hard telling what he father had planned.
“We will settle here until he is prepared to leave.” Her father says, gesturing to the boy at her feet.
She nods in agreement before fixing the boy’s head on a rolled sleeping mat. Then proceeded to help her father prepare a fire pit in order to keep them warm.
~•~
When nightfall reached, the began to stir. The droid had woken up a bit ago due to her father charging him up with a light battery pack. She sat beside her father and their Blurgg in between the boy and his droid.
Since the droid, Chopper, had been restored of its power, it went on about who this boy was and who his owner truly was. She was shocked that the droid had trusted her with such confidence but she also felt honoured. Their owner was Hera Syndulla, and the boy, Ezra Bridger is a protégé of her boyfriend, Kanan Jarrus.
Wren enjoyed hearing about their wild adventures and began wondering what the galaxy had planned for her. Was she supposed to stay on Tatooine like her father? Or was she supposed to fight in the rebellion with her brother? She honestly had no clue why her father remained on Tatooine. Sure, the Jedi were supposed to be in exile but why Tatooine? They could have gone anywhere like Naboo, Yavin, or even Alderaan but they didn’t.
The shuffling draws her attention back to reality and she watched Ezra rub the sleep out of his eyes upon seeing her father, who was poking the fire with a stick, his hood still on which gave him an ominous look.
“You’re in the wrong place, Ezra Bridger.” Her father claimed, not even giving the boy a minute to settle in consciousness.
“Master?” He questioned, dazed and confused. “Master Kenobi?” He asks again, sitting up much more rapidly.
“Slow down, Ezra. You’ve just woken up from a state of dehydration. You’ll make yourself sick.” She chipped in, her tone much more soft and relaxed than her father’s.
His eyes dart to her for a moment, before they returned to the man at her side.
“I am.” He confirmed after a moment, sparing her a soft look. “And when you have your strength I will help you own your way.” Her father insisted before standing up and moving over to Chopper.
“On my way?” Ezra asked confused. “No, I came here to find you.” He frantically continued, looking over at him as he dusts Chopper’s top off.
She smiled slightly upon seeing his affection for the droid. Wren knew that he always had a soft spot for droids, thought he had gotten used to having to let them go if they were destroyed.
“To warn you.” Ezra added on.
“About Maul?” Wren asked, sitting up a bit straight. Whereas her father interlocked his hands at his front.m, calm and collected as always.
Ezra’s eyes get wide as he met her eyes for a moment. “Yes!”
But then looks confused, “uh, you know?” He asked, looking back to her father.
“One doesn’t survive as long as I have by being foolish or unprepared.” Wren’s father informed him, while walk past Chopper.
“Maul is an old adversary and a persistent one at that.” Her father says moving over to stand by Ezra.
“Not to mention her murdered my mother and my sister in cold blooded revenge.” Wren put in her comment, leaving her father to look sternly at her as Ezra’s eyes grew even wider.
“What? Im not saying I have a grudge against him for it. I promised, Isä.” She reminded him, throwing up her arms in defence.
“We can fight him together.” Ezra swore, holding up his fist with courage and determination.
Wren grinned at this. The boy was brave, she had to admire him for that.
However, her father doesn’t even face Ezra. “I had no intention of fighting him.” He told Ezra with a short glance. “Though that seems inevitable now.” He added, sighing discontented.
“You don’t understand. You’re the answer.” Ezra is in disbelief and she couldn’t blame him. At first she was too. “The holocrons told me. They said you would be the one to help us destroy the sith.”
Wren’s face twisted in confusion and she looked intently at her father. But he simply hummed and looks over at Ezra. “Hmm. It’s the first I’ve heard of it.” He says before turning to face Ezra completely.
“The rebellion needs you. We need you to defeat the Empire.” Ezra claims boldly and unrealistically.
She wanted to speak out. She wanted to claim that ‘the rebellion already had one of their best fighters. Her brother. Oberon.’ But she didn’t.
“What you need, you already have.” Her father insisted, stepping closer to Ezra. “unfortunately you seem to be letting it a go.”
Ezra looked confused once again by his cryptic messages but she understood fully. “But if I had what I needed why would the holocrons send me to you?” The boy asked.
Her father’s expression shift into gravely serious one and she had a feeling she knew why. “They didn’t. Maul did.”
Ezra looks shocked, almost as if he silently gasped and she pursed her lips tightly in order to hold the gasp crawling up her throat. This was a bait.
The older man puts a hand on Ezra’s back and encouraged him to take a seat with him, while wren remained seated across from them. “Maul used your desire to do good to deceive you and in doing so he has altered the course of many things.”
Ezra looks ashamed and almost embarrassed. She felt sorry for him. Wren knew all too well what it felt like to be taken advantage of when in the realm of ignorance. You never truly move on from it. She would know. It has been a constant reminder for her; never trust anyone. Her brother and father were exceptions.
“He knows your fears, your heart, and he manipulated the truth — which has led you here, where you should never have been.” Her father explains while looking into the fire, only taking a single glance at Ezra.
Ezra looking at the fire says, “But the holocrons, they tell the truth.” Ezra tried to defend.
Slight amusement cheered her father’s grave expression and he looks over at Ezra with sort of a ‘Oh really’ expression. “Do they?” He paused. “The truth is often what we make of it.” He explored, looking at Ezra passionately.
“You heard what you wanted to hear, believed what you wanted to believe. And now, the only one who has gained anything from all of this is…” Her father spoke calmly, him and Ezra looking at each other now. As he trailed off slightly, she felt a tingle up her spine.
Then an arm curled around her neck before she could react. She withheld her gasp and dug her nails into the unexpected assailant.
“Me.” A man growled from behind her, getting both of their attentions.
“You know, it is really hard forgiving you when you do things like this.” She managed to choke out, his grip tightened but he didn’t respond.
Ezra went to stand up but her father pushed him back down and gets Ezra to look at him. “You must go now.” He encouraged the boy calmly, despite her being held captive in the arms of his enemy.
Ezra looked irritated. “I led him to you. Let me make it right.” Ezra says, his face softening as he reached out to the former Jedi Master. Though his eyes hardly moved from hers.
He glanced over his shoulder giving him a parenting scold. “That is not your responsibility. I will mend this old wound.”
Just by his presence in the force, she could assume Maul almost looked impressed or shocked by his words but his scowls returned as quickly as it had disappeared.
Her father gestures to the blurgg while looking at Ezra. “Ride North. That is your way out.”
Maul squeezed her throat and her eyes lifted, in an attempt of meeting his eyes to show her annoyance, but failed. Wren clawed his he skin but he didn’t even flinch.
The blurgg grunts and Chopper flew up, happy to return back to his owner and her father spoke again. “Your way home.” Her father added to his previous statement, much softer.
They share a look of understanding and Ezra climbed onto the blurgg without another argument. Chopper lowers onto the blurgg also. Ezra gave her an apologetic frown and she shook her head as best she could, mustering a small smile in return to show that she was alright.
Ezra jerks the reigns slightly and the blurgg turns and begins to walk away with a grunt.
“See you soon apprentice.” Maul called out. He sounded mad as a hatter and she felt a small bubble of fear.
Her father turns his head at his words and then slowly turns around to face them again. Maul had his free hand-up in a goodbye, sarcastic most likely. He sighs as Ezra rides away and then looks to the older Jedi.
“Look what has become of you.”Maul sneered. “A rat in the desert.”
“Look what I have risen above.” He returned, in a matter-of-fact tone.
“I’ve come to kill you.” Maul says, pushing her up to her feet so that they could walk closer to the fire. “But perhaps its worse to leave you here, festering in your squalor and to grieve the loss of this pretty thing here in my arms.” Maul says as they circled around the fire pit.
“If you define yourself by your power to take life, a desire to dominate, to possess, then you have nothing.” He says as Maul stops, though her father still inches around the fire, glancing every other second down at her.
Maul growls and scowls. And in a flash of anger, Maul removes his lightsaber from his wood staff and ignites it. She jumped at the sudden red blade and he swung it and tossed sand into the fire. “Then what do you have?” He snarled.
The sand had put out the fire and she felt fear ride up higher. Maul held his saber horizontally, awaiting the next move and she slowly began reaching behind her.
Her father acted as a nice distraction as her hands moved slowly and quietly. Wren could feel the emitter graze her fingers and she curled her dominant hand around her hilt, awaiting her father’s next move.
“Why come to this place?” Maul asks, straightening up and gesturing to the planet around them with his head.
“Not simply to hide.” Maul continued and her father hardens his face more as if afraid-to look vulnerable.
Maul purred, pressed his cheek to hers. She winced but not because one of his horns cut into her eyebrow, but because of his faces closeness to her own. She hated when men flirted with her, it made her uncomfortable and even more so when they touched her without consent.
“Oh, you have a purpose here.” Maul says coming to a realisation. “Perhaps you are protecting something.” He assumes amusedly, in a teasing tone.
“No.” Maul amused. “Protecting someone.” Maul concluded.
Wren’s head jerked up to meet her father’s face and what she saw caused worry to burst in her stomach. A soft fear was shown as her father’s eyebrow twitched and his lightsaber is ignited in seconds. Eyes narrowing. She never knew why they had stayed snd Maul just came to a conclusion in minutes.
Despite her confusion, she swiftly connected her pieces together ignited her saber. Maul stumbles in confusion and Wren swiped at his thigh, momentarily stunning him. She rolled away from the zabrak man and ended up beside her father, who pushed her behind him protectively.
She watched her father twirl his saber slowly and get into his duel pose, just like he did in the clone wars. His saber up high and at his ear while his other held to finger up, pointing in his opponent’s direction. She found it quite dramatic but he was her father, she loved him for his dramatics.
Wren preferred to move unexpectedly.
Maul twirls his saber just as slow and held it out in front of him before ignited the other half of his dual ended saber. He spun his saber a few times (much faster than her father) before getting into what seemed to be his duelling position, his saber at his side almost behind his back.
A stare off happens and no one moves for a moment. She felt the tension rise and didn’t even need to raise her sage green blade to see it. (The colour of her crystal was sage green but it had a unique seafoam luminescent glow.)
Maul spins his saber again but this time grabs it with two hands. Her father lowers both his saber and his extended arm and holds his weapon outward with both hands before turning his upper body and holding his saber at-his side in his two hands. Both faces stone cold. It was as if they were having a show with their separate acts and she raised her brows slightly at that thought.
Maul’s feet shift on the ground, as if he were antsy and it didn’t go unnoticed by either of them, her father’s grip tightens and she prepared herself to jump into action if she ever needed to help her father.
Maul lets out a battle cry and lunges forward. Spinning his body and twirling his saber all at once, making a swing at her father’s right shoulder, who blocks it easily.
Wren took a step back and held her saber at her side, tensely.
Maul’s other end swings at her father’s ankles but he blocks it and with one powerful rut, he sliced the duel ended saber in the middle. He moved so quickly that she hardly even noticed that all in the same slash, he had cut Maul across his chest as well.
Maul dropped into a kneel and slowly lowers his sabers as they deactivated, before dropping them to the ground.
Her father deactivates his saber and catches Maul in his arms as he falls, so she deactivates her also and moved over slowly.
She couldn’t help but notice that her father held no hateful emotions on his features, he looks remorseful. Maul looks up at him with his bright yellow eyes. Stuttering his words, he says, “tell me. . .”
Maul reaches weakly for her father’s left shoulder but his hand drops. “Is it the Chosen One?” He asked.
Wren frowned looking at the red figure with black markings, before turning to look at her dad with just as much confusion. He looked even more remorseful down at Maul. “He is.” He confirmed disheartened.
Maul meets her eyes and she felt deep regret in his breeze. “I. . .didn’t. . .kill. . .your mother. . .sh. . .she eh. . .Escaped. . .” He choked out.
Maul almost looks relieved as he looks up at the stars. “The chosen . . .one…will avenge…us.” He says in his last breath, but Wren was far too focused on what he had said about her mother.
She stood up furiously as her father closes Maul’s eyes with a weak dip of his head.
While her father had placed a gentle hand on Maul’s right ribcage, she stared down at her father with betrayal, pain, and confusion.
What the hell did Maul mean when he said that he hadn’t murdered her mother and that she had escaped?
Surely he was just trying to get the last laugh? But something in the force told her that he hadn’t been trying to fool her. Ventora Vahva’Toivo escaped Stella Lux Prime. . . But she never looked for Oberon, her father, or her.
