I read A Post a long time ago, that Deidara's villain origin story was meeting Itachi and I have been laughing about that for years. Like, Itachi ruins everything he touches so much, that a dude dedicated his whole life to create some of the greatest feats... Just to be the one to kill him.

Itachi really was something else.

Who are your main and least favorite Naruto ships?

My favorite, itashi (itachi x shisui) sasunaru (sasuke x naruto) and finally itadei (itachi x deidara)

As for my least favorite, sakuita (sakura x itachi) sakushi (sakura x shisui) and everything that has sakura in them!

Hmm recently SasuSai and SakuKarin have been my two little precious ships. From the more popular ones I also really like sasunaru and inosaku, kakagai... 🤔 There are a few.

I guess I don't have ships I actively dislike, there are cases I don't agree or just don't see the appeal, but that's about it. Give me anything cute enough and I appreciate it~

Hello, may we know what are your thoughts about ita/saku

I dislike ItaS*ku. A lot. Detailed answer below the cut.

I don't understand this ship and it's the only Itachi ship that makes no sense and that I cannot tolerate. Everyone else he's shipped with acknowledged him in some way, understood him to some extent, and thematically they were compatible. Even if I see Itachi and Sasuke's relationship as perfectly, strictly platonic, I understand why people see the potential for more in them and why they want to explore this in their fics or art. It's the same with ShiIta and KisaIta and the rarepairs like KakaIta and ItaDei. But ItaS*ku is a pairing that makes zero sense to me.

Itachi is perceptive, thoughtful, puts his own needs aside, takes up the responsibility when he does wrong and tries to change his approach, doesn't need and ask for other people's help, and has self-respect. Sakura is the complete opposite but in a bad way. She isn't perspective, is selfish, her own needs come first - the world can go to hell, and has no self-respect. They aren't a match in any way. Their "polar opposite" isn't endearing under any circumstances.

She has a "girlboss" like personality or that's how she's presented. She's badass, a quick learner, strong, powerful etc., but she's not compatible with Itachi just for those reasons. To make them work as a ship, Sakura's characterization would have to change enormously. She'd have to be completely ooc for that.

In canon too, she saw Sasuke change his mind about Itachi, and while Naruto and Kakashi at least acknowledged it, Sakura never bothered to know about the truth. He, too, never acknowledged her presence except for a scene in one of the movies. In canon, never. She was nonexistent to him and he was just Sasuke's enemy to her. Why would I really ship them together.

With Itachi's other ships there's love, understanding, and compassion, and/or at least some thematic relevance which Ita/Saku entirely lacks. It's not the case of 'she's too good for Itachi' as many of her fans want to claim in regards to both Itachi and Sasuke. She's not a bad character and I like her, but ItaS*ku doesn't work as a ship.

I'll be tagging this post properly, so if anyone comes here with flaming response they'll be blocked. In case you read it this far, feel free to ignore if you ship these two characters or are a Sakura fan.

okay, real post this time:

Chapter 13 of my plotty, slow burn ItaDei fic Homeade Dynamic is now up! Chapter 13 has actually been 90% done for over a year and 100% done for a few months, but I had a giant block on Chapter 12 (finally posted yesterday). I gave myself the end of 2024 as a personal deadline for Chapter 12 because it was driving me nuts that I couldn't share this!!

It's been nearly three years, so here's the summary if you haven't seen it or need a reminder:

“I mean,” Deidara growls, “you’re you from the future.” “Of course I am,” Itachi says, like Deidara is a bit slow. “And I’m me from the future,” Deidara continues, feeling a bit hysterical. Whatever Itachi did with the chakra nexus on the forbidden island, it ended with both of them traveling through time. “What the F––,” Deidara yells, and then tries to punch Itachi in the face again. OR: Deidara unwillingly signs up for Itachi's personal time-travel fix-it fic.

Itachi: Dei? *lightly shakes Deidara’s shoulder* Wake up; it’s your turn to keep watch.

Deidara: *yawns and stirs, sitting up* Already? Feels like I just laid down, hm.

Itachi: I know what you mean. Out on missions like this, no time sleeping is ever enough.

Deidara: *moves to sit on the log and tosses another stick on the low fire* Well go to sleep, Uchiha. No offense but those eye bags look even worse than usual, hm. You — hey! 

Itachi, startled: What?!

Deidara: Your nose, it’s bleeding. K-kinda hard …

Itachi: *looks down and is mildly surprised to see blood trickling down his face* Oh, damn …

Deidara: *roots around in his pack and comes up with a bit of cloth* Here, hm .. hold this under there. I can’t believe you didn’t feel it.

Itachi: *wads it up and tilts his head back, holding the material to his nostrils* Happens so much, I barely notice it anymore.

Deidara: Sasori used to tell me that nosebleeds happen when the air is too dry. But then again he told me a lot of things that turned out to be lies, so —

Itachi, softly: You can’t carry this around inside of you forever.

Deidara, sighing: Just … just get your nose to stop so you can go to bed already, hm. I don’t want to talk about him anymore.

Itachi: Alright. 

*the two sit quietly for awhile, Itachi holding the cloth to his nose and Deidara staring into the fire*

Deidara, speaking suddenly, quietly: He should have just left me the fuck alone. If he hadn’t made me fall for him, his stupid death wouldn’t be hurting so damn much, hm. And he’s probably in heaven or hell or wherever he went, laughing at me.

Itachi: I really doubt that, Deidara. He loved you, too. So much. He never would have willingly left you behind.

Deidara: *snorts* Yeah, right.

Itachi: No, it’s the truth. You remember how often I used to visit his lab? Those check-ups and hour-long transfusions he used to give me? Do you know what he spent all of  that time talking about? YOU. His precious Deidara. How beautiful Deidara is. How funny Deidara is. How happy Deidara made —

Deidara: *gruffly clears his throat; when he speaks his voice sounds thick, as if near tears* Okay, okay, I get it. *quickly wipes his hand across his eyes* Y-you done being all bloody yet?

Itachi: *cautiously moves the cloth away from his nose; the bleeding’s stopped* Yeah.

Deidara: Then go to sleep, Uchiha. You’ve only got a few hours here, we leave at first light.

Itachi: *lays on his side and closes his eyes* Okay. Goodnight.

Deidara: ‘Night. And Itachi?

Itachi: Yes?

Distinguish your thoughts about naruto shippings and who do you ship?

i’ve finally found the motivation to respond to the anonymous messages in my notifications—apologies for the delay. i’ll begin with you. i’ll just list my ships in the series numerically.

ships that i fw:

sasunaru, of course, is my on-top shit. i care about it a lot, and if it didn’t have any shippers, i'd be dead. the chemistry between them is undeniable, and they have many tropes that enhance their connection. i won’t lie—though i love the canon ships like naruhina and sasusaku (which i also enjoy), sasunaru has that special standard for me. it aligns perfectly with the romantic tropes in books and movies that i fw.

shikatema—for real, dude, who doesn’t like these two? they’re the straightest couple that makes more sense than the others who ended up together. malewife and girlboss wifey, for real.

sasusaku. i know some don’t like this, but honestly? nobody wants to hear an opinion (kidding)—i find their reasons justifiable. like, if i were sakura, i’d definitely let sasuke go off on his own. i wouldn’t chase him or cry for him—especially after he tried to kill her. i understand why he did so, and i totally get his character (i relate to him a lot). but moving on, i ship them—fucking hell. I DO.

choji and karui, 100% yes. i don’t know why they ended up together, to be honest, but yay. it’d be wholesome if we got to see a scene with them, you know? i feel like i would like their tropes a lot.

i guess the rest of the canon ships are fine, like naruhina and sai/ino. i don’t have much to say about them, but they’re okay for me.

itadei. WHY DOESN’T THIS SHIP GET ENOUGH LOVE? seriously, i’m here for it. dei’s like, “i fucking hate you, man,” but secretly he’s like, “fucking hell, why is he so damn good?” i fw with whatever trope is this. you’ve got dei throwing bombs, and itachi just calmly deflects them like, “nice try, buddy.” & in that moment, he almost reveres itachi as a god of artistry.

tobidei (at first, no, but...) honestly!!!!! I love their dynamic too, bro. their relationship is so funny and entertaining. the only thing that bothers me is their age gap

sakuino, the lacey of each other. they’re so lacy-coded, bruh—similar to Itadei, i guess? they claim to hate each other, but the difference is, sakuino don’t actually hate each other; they just make each other jealous with whatever they think the other has

it's a fair question! i might elaborate more someday but atm the basic premise is that it's likely it'd be like a pragmatic deal between them? sasuke needs a source of strength and obito is both very powerful and a sharingan user, and obito has reason to look out for sasuke because of itachi hovering over his shoulder + if he trains sasuke correctly he can have a powerful ally on his side... which is i think?? the reason why obito let sasuke hang out with him for so long in canon but it went nowhere looooool

i find orochimaru's integration and then sudden exit from the plot to be a little bit messy so i like to think of ways of streamlining the process and just having sasuke be with the "main" naruto antagonists from an earlier date :0c with the rest of the kids still being with him as i am very fond of both karin and suigetsu ahahaha

i also find the idea of sasuke being in closer proximity to itachi during the timeskip (while still distant ofc) to be fun, like him being akatsuki-adjacent while itachi is also there brings fun scenarios to think about! + the fact itachi really doesn't like obito, so there's an added layer of 👀 as he hates that obito is the one training him but he can't really do anything abt it without showing his hand lol

and, the rest of the akatsuki interacting with a bunch of kids on a "friendly" level is a funny concept lmao

kks headcanons: hmm i'm actually not sure! i think a lot about kakashi but im blanking on specific headcanons i have :P

top 5s: without much thought to ordering them i'd sayyy

characters: obito, kakashi, itachi, sasuke, and gaara or neji depending on my mood

pairings: sasuneji, sasugaa, kakaobi, itadei and kisaobi or sasusui

what got you into naruto: mostly being really curious about kakashi 😅 he seemed like the type of character i really would like so we watched a few episodes "for fun" just to meet him and then. you know.

thoughts on kakagai: i love kakagai i think it's super cute :)

do you like sasuke x naruto: people keep asking me this KSDJSKJD i'm ambivalent about the pairing, i can see why people like it but it's not for me

would you ever draw naruto (the character): possibly! just no real guarantee since i tend to focus on a small group of characters is all
