TUA hot takes for 'Seven Bells':
The opening with Luther's time on the moon is the standout of the season for him. Love love love that they went deeper into what all those years were like for him. Luther got so much crap for talking about the moon too much, but it was legitimately traumatizing and I'm all for the reminder. Your moon trauma is valid, Luther. Also showcases some of his best acting, please let him be something other than an oaf way more often it's so much more interesting. (Also was extremely into his scene with Reggie at the end and the shock of what happens to Luther. It's Really Great and terrible and I love that they went there. Reggie is on fire this entire episode and I will talk about him more.)
You can be whatever about the Klaus/Ben implications, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Sparrow!Ben finally started getting a personality in these last episodes. I don't ship the siblings but I was happy they were sharing the screen again.
Reggie's response to Viktor saying "Jesus" when he looks out at the incoming apocalypse: "He's due any minute now" is one of my favorite things Reggie has ever said. Colm Feore is a treasure.
Speaking of: the scene with Five and Reggie talking at the edge of the world is So Good. I use this scene in my tumblr layout for a reason. I love this entire exchange; the fascinating dynamic unique to these two characters, how every line has layers of meaning. Reggie calling Five an 'arrogant son of a bitch'. Five's trademark razor smile. I could go on, it's my absolute favorite moment of the season and I could watch it one hundred more times and still find more things to say about them.
I will never get over Five eating cereal an entire box at a time. The little hints at his eating habits have always been consistently weird, what are you.
The way they shot Klaus' final moments in the White Buffalo suite and it fades to white instead of black. The visuals are stunning, it looks like a painting and it will be burned into my memory forever.
The end of s3 was really stellar. Started off strong with 'Footloose' and lost its way for a few episodes, but I was so into this evil hotel situation with the backdrop of the world ending. Once they got back to the core characters it reminded me of all that I love about the show.
...Even if I was a little WTF about 'should we die or not let's take a vote' but I give it a pass. It's this family's nature to disagree, why would that change when they're wondering if they should save the world? (Sidebar: older!Five seriously screwed with Five's head. He's so stuck on himself telling him not to save the world/always being right that he can't move past it.) Allison should not have had to try this hard to get them on board.

I just read your headcanons for Walburga and I love it. The “She hated when Sirius cried. Because she had gone through the same suffering as him, but she had not shed a single tear. And seeing her son be so different from her, so weak in her eyes, made her so angry.”
It was heartbreaking but also amazing. It’s explains exactly how she carried on her generational trauma. And I love the way the fandom creates these complex layered characters.
It’s so great to be able to explain why the characters are how they are, even if it doesn’t excuse them of their actions.
I’ve always loved the headcanon that Sirius looks and acts very similar to his mother. The same hair, same posture, same insults. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
I would love to hear more headcanons if you want to write them :) Especially how Walburga would’ve felt had she found out Regulus betrayed them. And how she felt about Regulus and Kreachers friendship.
It’s interesting that Regulus betrayed them for Kreacher. I think it really shows how alone he was. That he valued the house elf over his family, in a way.
I’ve always headcanonned that Sirius craved his mothers love, though he’d never admit it to himself. Since he felt so similar to her, as a person, he wished she changed, not that he’d forgive if she even did.
But cause of his rebellion, Walburga ordered her pureblood ways into Regulus. Making sure he wouldn’t become a failure.
And when she taught Regulus the piano, she probably viewed it as a nice moment, maybe one similar to what she had with her terrifying mother. But I reckon Regulus found it chilling. Having repressed her emotions so long, even if she did feel love, there’s no way either of her children could see or feel it.
Anyway, I loved your headcanons so if you want to, write more. I am invested :)
msndnsknndnksknwndn THANK YOU 😭❤️❤️❤️
Of course I'll continue writing about her and the Black family! I enjoy it a lot, plus there's almost not headcanons about her so here is my little contribution.
Walburga, and the Blacks in general, are very complex characters and have a lot to offer.
I'll keep writing about them, longer stuff and maybe also micro fics or something.
- And of course Sirius would never have forgiven her. Sirius is a better person than Walburga, of course, but at the end of the day they are mother and son. Sirius is a Black too, and also suffers from the Black pride. They are very similar, even though they are on opposite sides of the street.
- Sirius had never noticed it until he started arguing with Remus. And you know how Sirius is, a bitch, looking for people's weak points. And don't get me wrong, Remus is also a motherfucker. Especially in his youth. And when Sirius touched a sensitive nerve for him, he didn't hold back in his response.
- Sirius was horrified but that helped him learn and mature. See things from a different point of view. Noticing the damage and the influence that his mother had had on him.
I also have to write more headcanons for Reggie boy yes yes
Thanks for the support 🤭❤️❤️❤️
☛ Read here.

lila threatening klaus didn't make any sense because both her *and* diego followed reggie the next day :/
I know. :(
I'm gonna be candid here, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, so if people feel the need to unfollow or block, I won't take it personally. Here goes: the way Lila intercepts and threatens Klaus is really just one small symptom of a larger trend I see between Diego and Lila as a couple, that makes me very uncomfortable.
Put simply, I love Diego and I love Lila: separately, not as a couple. And I think she needs him much more than he truly needs her, but his sense of loyalty, his sense of duty/obligation, and his resolve not to become his own father, are keeping him with her; that, and the circumstances of the world ending, and Lila being the only person left that Diego has ever had romantic feelings toward. But "we're the only ones left and we've been through trauma together" does not a good relationship make.
Diego needs the space and the patience to learn how to verbalize his emotions. He's deeply traumatized, and he needs a partner who will help him work through his sense of insecurity and his determination to help others while coping with all his own problems silently and alone.
The entirety of the Stan "experiment" is not funny to me; when Lila told Diego in an insensitive and even almost snide way, about Stan's real identity, and he stuttered for the first time since Season 2 (the person who made him stutter last time was REGINALD, so let the implications of THAT sink in), I think my heart shattered into a thousand pieces. I admit to personal bias here: I'm an educator, and I work with kids who have disabilities on the regular, and I can tell you that that moment was indicative of major problems in that relationship. Diego stutters when he feels unsafe, when he feels undermined, when he feels insufficient. Lila is brusque and impulsive; she is insecure and will risk other people's wellbeing, their feelings, to make herself feel more secure--the reason why she hid her real pregnancy from Diego until she could "confirm that he could handle it." As much as Diego hates talking about things, that's what he needs, and Lila doesn't talk, she just acts, and often selfishly. She really is not equipped, because of her own (entirely valid) issues, to take on a romantic partner that way.
I'm not saying that Diego is a saint or that Lila is despicable. Again, I love and enjoy their characters, separately. I'm saying they both need and deserve to heal, but don't have what each other needs. Unfortunately TUA has never prioritized the pursuit of healthy relationships or healthy emotions. The series is too saturated in bitter gallows humor and the articulation of the whimsically, satirically bizarre. But that means Diego and Lila are likely to continue to be a canonical couple, and I genuinely fear that this will prevent either character from experiencing the sort of personal growth that we saw in Klaus, Viktor, and Luther this season (or even Allison and Ben, albeit backwards, in their case).
I think for a lot of Diego and Lila fans, part of what convinces them that she fits in perfectly is that she's the same kind of fucked-up as the Umbrella siblings are, so it's easy to imagine her as "part of the family" (according to Five and Klaus). Ideally, imho, she would become a much better sibling than in-law.
So yeah. I felt as irritated as you did, by that scene. It was controlling. Lila needs to let Diego make his own decisions. If HE wants to tell Klaus to fuck off, fine. They're siblings, and Diego has known Reginald as long as Klaus has, and has the right to make that call, about how much he wants to be exposed to their toxic father figure. That isn't Lila's call to make. Nor does she have the right to threaten one of Diego's loved ones with unending physical and emotional torture.
I know Diego's not great at self-preservation, but no relationship works if one partner calls the shots for the other, without involving them in the decision making process of their own welfare.
And I don't dislike or blame Lila for this. I blame the writers who thought that scene would be funny and that that dark humor overruled any problems of characterization that it might cause. Humor at the expense of characterization is one of my top five pet peeves of fiction, lol. Grrrr.

'Buying costumes for each other without knowing what the other chose and wearing them to a party ' for peterpatterlina?
It all started out with Flynn, funnily enough. She had been lamenting that she didn't know what to be for Halloween this year, when Alex offered to find her a costume.
"Really?" she asked, perking up.
"Yeah, I know you pretty well, plus it would be a fun surprise. If you hate it, you can have an emergency costume on standby," he said with a shrug.
"Does that mean I get to pick your costume out?"
And it went from there, all of them deciding that a surprise Halloween costume exchange was a great idea, and threw all of their names in a hat. Sizes and a budget were set, and off they went.
Luke got Reggie, and at first he figured, hey, he'd get Han Solo, Reggie's usual go to costume, and call it a day. But Flynn had said no repeats, so that cut the interstellar smuggler out. Also cowboys, and one really lazy year when Reggie forgot to buy a costume and simply slicked back his hair, claiming to be Danny from Grease. He found a hockey jersey, and figured maybe Reggie could go as Cameron from Ferris Bueller, but without a Ferris and a Sloane, he would look incomplete. So he kept looking, finally finding something that he was sure Reggie would love, smiling as he went off to pay.
Julie ended up picking Luke's name, and while she knew he usually went the famous musician route, this year she was determined to break him out of his comfort zone. She regarded the Harry potter costume for a moment before putting it down, knowing Luke wasn't a big fan of the franchise, or the author's viewpoints on trans people. She picked up an oversized red shirt with a large golden A on the front, but she didn't want to endure Luke huffing helium all night to sound like the titular chipmunk. Finally she found something she knew was perfect, and happily skipped off to the check out.
Reggie groaned as he approached the costume store. Why oh why did he have to get Julie? Don't get him wrong, he loved and adored Julie, his gigantic crush on her (and maybe also Luke) notwithstanding. But he didn't exactly feel comfortable trying to find a costume that would suit her. He didn't want to get her anything too revealing, given she was usually pretty modest. But he also couldn't find something that seemed like her. He already sneaked out of Alex that he had gotten Flynn a Cleopatra costume, so that was out. And he knew Willie would pick something amazing for Carrie. So what did he get Julie?
He scoured the racks for felt like forever, finally finding something that felt and looked just perfect, but he was still going to hold his breath that Julie liked it before exhaling.
The night of Halloween, the gang was all gathered, exchanging dark bags holding their costumes, and breaking apart to go change, agreeing to reconvene in an hour. Carrie was the first one back, Vogue-ing all over the studio in her classic Madonna get-up. Flynn's Cleopatra costume made her look radiant. Alex grumbled, but he had to admit, he looked damn good as 007. Willie was delighted by his Rufio costume, crowing all over the studio.
Luke entered next, snapping his suspenders and grinning wide. "Pretty cunning dontcha think?" Twirling so his long brown coat swooshed around him.
"Wrong character idiot," Alex quipped.
"Yeah well, blame Julie for not getting me a pretty floral bonnet," Luke said with a shrug.
"I don't think it would have gone with the look Cap'n Tight Pants Flynn said with a giggle.
"At least you got pants," Reggie said, walking in. "I got stuck in this shapeless jumpsuit and tacky shirt!" He scratched at the dirty blonde wig sitting on his scalp. "Luke didn't even get me dino toys to play with!"
"I mean, be happy he didn't get you a spear through the chest," Carrie snarked. "No leaf on the wind BS tonight okay?"
"Please and thank you," said Julie as she walked into the garage, in equally tight pants and a simple shirt, her curls in a messy ponytail, a large gun on her hip. She did a simple twirl. "Well husband, captain, will I do?"
"Tiān nǎ" the boys chorused, picking their jaws up off the floor rushing to Julie's side.
"I thought we weren't supposed to tell each other what we were picking?" Willie asked.
"We didn't!" Reggie protested.
"Then how are you all dressed as Firefly characters?" Alex asked, a hint of judgement in his voice.
"Great minds?" Luke said with a shrug. He held an arm out for each of his partners, grinning when they took one each. "Now come on, let's go before all the good candy is gone!"
The group raced out the door, but not before getting a group photo. And if Julie convinced her dad to get one with both of her guys before they left, well the rest of the group had to wait. Luke might be dressed as the captain of Serenity, but they all knew who the real power of the ship was, and no one dared say no to her.

I know this is a heavy topic, but as a woman of color myself I hate this trend of people acting like we can’t give any sort of criticism to characters of color because you get called a racist or any sort of things when characters of color aren’t immune to criticism as long as you criticize them like you would a white character for the same things. I feel like we are allowed to criticize when a piece of media gives us characters of color to fill some status quo or woke agenda but don’t put effort into them, and that’s what I feel about Tabitha.
I think Erinn is a great actress but Tabitha is not a good character and I won’t lie to appear woke just because she’s a character of color, that would make me an hypocrite just like the CW making the pussycats episode simply because it was mandatory by the network. I want more for Tabitha than the bare minimum, her character was introduced to be Jughead’s caretaker. Her scenes weren’t about who she is and what her inspirations are, but to run after a drunk Jughead, the fact that she was there at Jughead’s very own therapy section (while he talks about Betty being the one to take him out of darkness) is humiliating specially because she has not business being there when she doesn’t know this man. The excuse about Pop caring for Jughead so Tabitha by extension cares too was lazy writing because it doesn’t give her a personality. Then she was kept there to be Betty and Jughead's side kick even when we don’t even know if she likes being a detective at all. Everything we know about Tabitha so far seems like an extension of the characters she interacts with and nothing else.
The only thing we know about her is that she owns Pops and is very committed to the family business, has weird parents and that she’s so pure it’s the equivalent of an angel (?). You remove Tabitha out of the plot and it’s like it doesn’t matter, and that’s the problem. Her only connection to the plot is Jughead. And this is not a Tabitha problem, we know Riverdale has tons of that, Kevin’s who’s incredible useless and I don’t even remember anything he has done ever, Archie — the most useless main character I’ve ever seen, never participates in the plots and it’s just there to follow after other characters. And the biggest most annoying criticism is the way Veronica – their only Latina character – has a family that is the equivalent of mafia because that’s not racist and stereotypical at all.
For me, Tabitha reads as a character that the writers don’t know what to do with besides being Jughead’s love interest, that they have interacting positively with every character in hopes of getting people to like her, they don’t invest on her and they don’t brother to give her conflicts and I won’t think they will. The saddest thing is that we know the plot will eventually lead back to Betty and Jughead so with Tabitha out of that relationship, what are they gonna do with her? And I do find it very sad that she’s getting more screen time after being in the show for one season than Charles Melton, who’s been there since season 2 and Reggie is actually a relevant character in the comics. But remember, woke stan twt doesn’t particularly care about men of color or the fact that Reggie would be the only man of color of the cast – aside from Fangs and Pops – that barely gets his flowers.
"characters of color aren’t immune to criticism as long as you criticize them like you would a white character for the same things"
That's the standout for me. I will right here fully admit that I am not a person of color. I am a white person who has not experienced the prevalence of racism, whether overt or implicit. I also have no doubt that there is racism aplenty in Hollywood, and on the RD set. For example, the lack of Black hairdressers, so that the Black actresses either have to do their own hair or have a terrible job done of their hair? Unacceptable. Making their only Latina family crime bosses? More than a little casually racist. Keeping Tabitha as an extension of Jughead and hiring her only as a diversity hire? That's really bad, and something the character deserves better than.
That said, saying that I can't criticize the acting skills of a person of color because they are a person of color doesn't feel right to me. If I were criticizing them solely on the basis of being POC, that would be entirely different. I will willingly and happily call out the white actors on the very same thing. When I say I don't think Vanessa is a good actress, I will say the exact same thing for Casey Cott. They just don't impress me. When I say that Ashleigh and Vanessa have awful voices, I will happily (and documentedly have) say the same about Madeleine and KJ. Nobody is immune to criticism here.
Tabitha is interesting in this, because I genuinely used to like her. She was fun, interesting, kind of an inventive play on the "only sane man" trope. I'd wager most of the fandom liked her when she first appeared. And Erinn's acting was good in that facet of her personality. But right from the beginning, she was made no more than Jughead's babysitter, even when they weren't together. And now that we've seen more of her...I am not hugely impressed by her acting. I have long wanted to see more Reggie, because I think Charles did so much more than Ross ever did with Reggie, and I unashamedly love Reggie.

Juke Bodyguard AU Pt.3
Here it is! The third and final part of the Juke Bodyguard AU inspired by your requests from the trope game. I reserve the right to do a standalone in this universe at some point but this wraps things up nicely for now. Enjoy!
Part 1
Part 2
Bodyguard AU + Love Confessor (Character A confessing their love for Character B to Character C)
Julie was used to change.
Bad change like when her mom got sick and she had to learn who she was when she couldn’t see it reflected back at her through her mother’s eyes. Bad change like when music felt like a stranger and everything she had ever wanted seemed suddenly pointless.
Good change like when she found her way back to it with a vengeance, Alex and her dad and Reggie and Carlos and Flynn refusing to give up until she started chasing her dream again. Good change like when against all odds those dreams actually started coming true, the record deal, and the hit albums and now her first national tour, a new city every night.
What she wasn’t used to was waiting for a change that didn’t seem to be coming.
She had been so sure after what she now internally referred to as “the flu incident” that things between her and Luke would change. That their vaguely flirty dynamic would transition naturally into more flu incident level expressions of affection and then a love confession, marriage and 2-3 obnoxiously good looking babies. Not right away on those last two or anything but still.
And yet here they were, three months and 24 shows later, and they were right back in vaguely flirty territory. Only she was finding it harder and harder to flirt back now that the realization that flirting was all it might ever be started to sink in.
And maybe that was the way it was supposed to be.
After all, he was her bodyguard. She was technically his boss.
She was a strong, independent woman with a thriving music career. She didn’t need some floppy haired boy to complete her life.
Didn’t stop her from wanting him though.
She didn’t bother to go to Alex for advice since he was firmly on what he had taken to calling “Team Juke”. Reggie wasn’t much better, asking her if Luke was there every time she called and never believing her when she told him she was alone. So she did what she always did when she needed someone to tell her the harsh truth.
She called Flynn.
“Look, girl, I haven’t met him but I’ve seen him on tv hovering behind you so I get it. He’s so your type. But he’s not real. He’s a fantasy you can get invested in because you know nothing will ever come of it.”
“It could,” She grumbled into the phone.
“Are you planning on confessing that you’re madly in love with him any time soon?” Flynn countered pointedly.
“I can’t,” Julie answered quickly. “Not when it’s so obvious he doesn’t feel the same.”
“Then he’ll always be a fantasy. He’s like air.”
Julie sighed.
“Cute air.”
“You wouldn’t have called me if you weren’t tired of feeling like this,” Flynn insisted. “I’m not going to let you get your heartbroken. And right now you’re on tour with Luke. So the key is avoiding those big, beautiful, dangerous eyes.”
And as much as the idea of avoiding Luke, eyes and all, seemed ridiculous when he was literally paid to follow her around, she knew she had to give it a try.
Because Flynn was right.
If she couldn’t have him then she couldn’t let him consume her life.
She was sure she would get a great song out of the situation one day but for now she just needed to pull back a little until she could see him as just a coworker she was friendly with. She could do that. Right? Of course she could. She was Julie Molina.
Only it was easier said than done.
Because Luke did not seem to take the hint.
She came stumbling off the stage after a particularly epic encore, vision blurry from the blinding lights, every muscle weak from hours of exertion, yet feeling incredible. At least she was feeling incredible until she tripped over her own unstable feet and Luke was right there, like he always was, to catch her. His hands latched onto her forearms gently, steadying her even as he grinned directly and dangerously into her eyes.
“You ok there, Boss?”
Julie managed a nod, the pounding of her heart combined with the still echoing roar of the crowd leaving his voice sounding far away and yet annoyingly clear.
“They were loving you out there,” He told her in that specific, Luke way. “You were amazing, Jules. Insane, spectacular, rad!”
This guy and his insistence on using slang from two decades ago. She definitely didn’t find that endearing.
She had to stick to the plan.
Julie ducked her head and pushed back from his grip gently at the same time.
“Thanks.”
She glanced up just long enough to see a confused and slightly hurt look on his face before she pushed past him and headed towards the green room, Alex falling into step next to her.
“Are we going to talk about why you just kicked that helpless puppy over there?” Alex asked.
Julie punched him in the arm.
“Keep your voice down, he’s right behind us! And that helpless puppy is literally the very capable bodyguard tasked with keeping me alive, so.”
“So you admit you kicked him,” Alex responded in a completely unhelpful manner.
“Ugh, shut up,” Julie groaned, glancing back and catching Luke’s eager eyes for a split second before quickly facing forward again. “I have a plan.”
“Flynn has a plan,” Alex corrected. “A stupid plan that she never would have suggested if she had seen for herself how crazy he is about you.”
“Has he said that?” She turned her head towards her best friend sharply.
Alex tilted his head.
“Not in so many words but Julie…”
“Then we stick to the plan.” She interrupted determinedly.
Alex sighed.
“Idiots, I’m surrounded by idiots.”
A couple of weeks later, Julie was starting to think he was right.
She had been doing her best to keep her relationship with Luke strictly business and it was somehow more exhausting than the two shows a week and all the time spent trying to sleep in a tour bus cot. She pretended to be busy when he offered to work on a song. She said she was tired when he tried to get her to join him for a beer with the roadies. She pretended she didn’t see him trying to catch her eye during the thousand little moments during the day when she had grown used to making eye contact with him to laugh at something Alex had said or roll their eyes when her manager tried to talk her into something completely dumb.
It was exhausting.
And the thing was it wasn’t even working.
Because every sad, kicked puppy look (as Alex called it) he gave her only left her more distracted and in more emotional turmoil. Part of her was a little mad at him. How dare he look so hurt that she wasn’t playing their usual game when he clearly didn’t want anything more? She wasn’t just a convenient outlet for his excessive flirting energy. But mostly she was just mad at herself for thinking that this ludicrous plan could ever work.
She had thought he was trouble since the moment she met him.
And she was definitely in trouble now.
It was the night of the last show of the tour and they were back in LA to finish things off. Flynn was too sick to come (ironically she thought she had the flu) but Julie’s family were out there in the VIP section. Even Reggie had come down from San Francisco to catch the show.
Julie was feeling oddly nervous for some reason. She had grown up dreaming of playing the Orpheum. It was the smallest venue she was playing on the whole tour, her manager had tried to talk her out of it, but she had insisted it was the Orpheum or nothing. Reggie and Alex had taken her to so many shows there when she was a teenager, it’s where she had discovered rock. Somehow even after everything she knew it wouldn’t fully feel like she’d achieved her dreams until she played there. It was time. Only she had finally made it there and she felt like she was going to throw up.
She wanted desperately to seek Luke out so he could tell some dumb joke to distract her or give her one of his borderline too intense pep talks. But she wasn’t doing that anymore. In fact she had insisted he go take his break now before the show, promising not to leave her green room just to keep herself from giving in to the urge.
“You doing alright there, Jules? You look kind of green.”
Julie spun on her heels and barreled directly into her big brother’s arms.
“Oof!” He huffed as she knocked the air from his lungs, his arms still coming up to wrap around her despite his shock. “You ok?”
“I’m fine,” She told him, her voice muffled as she buried her face against his chest. “It’s just that it’s the Orpheum and you know what that means to me, and the whole family is here to see me play and I’m so nervous and I’m missing Mom and I’m totally in love with my dumb bodyguard.”
Reggie pushed her back by the shoulders until he could see her blotchy face.
He reached up to ruffle her hair affectionately.
“First of all, Flynn and I totally called it,” He said with a smirk. “And Alex swears the two of you have taken ten years off of his life with your stupidity.”
“Alex talks too much,” Julie grumbled. “And Flynn is the one who told me to stay away from his annoyingly pretty eyes to begin with.”
“That’s only because she wants you to be happy. So do I by the way. And this?” He waved his hand to indicate her current state. “I hate to break it to you, Jules, but this isn’t happy.”
Julie sighed as her shoulders sagged and all of the fight went out of her at once.
“I know,” She said defeatedly. “But what am I supposed to do? I can’t force my feelings on the guy especially when I’m his boss. That’s creepy on top of being pathetic.”
“Funny,” Alex broke in from the doorway. “That’s exactly what he just said to me.”
Julie just gaped at him for a few long seconds while Reggie and Alex exchanged amused yet exasperated looks.
“Wait...what did he say exactly?” Julie finally managed to get out.
Alex rolled his eyes.
“Oh you know, ‘What did I do? Why is Julie mad at me? I’m so in love with her do you think she figured it out? Did I come off as a creep? Do you think she’ll have my babies?’”
Julie felt her mouth drop open.
“Dude!” Reggie protested.
“Ok, so the last part was more implied than said directly,” Alex admitted.
“But he said he loves me?” Julie asked hurriedly.
“Yeah,” Alex confirmed. “I’ve been telling you he does for months by the way, but nobody listens to me.”
Julie ignored her best friend’s statement and sprinted for the door.
“Where are you going?” Reggie called after her.
“You go on in ten!” Alex added frantically.
“I’ll make it!” She shouted back without slowing down.
She ran down the hallway, dodging makeup artists and promoters and so many people she’d wanted to impress just a few minutes before. There was only one person she wanted to see at that moment.
Julie kept going until she found the exit that led to the alley outside and burst through it. Luke felt caged in if he was inside for too long, something about living in a garage for a year as a teen. He stuck by her side and did his job perfectly but any chance he got she knew he could be found breathing in the fresh air and feeling like his lungs could fully expand. Sure enough, there he was, leaning against the probably filthy wall humming some song that she knew would be amazing if he ever really gave it life.
He stood straight and took two steps towards her as soon as she emerged from the door, a look of concern immediately taking over his features.
“Julie? What are you doing out here? You’re about to go on…”
She closed the distance between them and stopped just a half step closer than she normally would, her sudden proximity shutting him up for a moment.
She just looked up at him for a few seconds, just to enjoy it after weeks of denying herself. He broke the eye contact first, chuckling awkwardly as he looked down briefly.
“What?”
“Can you do me a favor?” She asked seriously.
He answered instantly.
“Anything, Julie, you know that.”
“Tell me what you just told Alex.”
His face drained of color, almost ghost like in appearance.
“He promised he wouldn’t say anything,” He mumbled.
Julie shrugged.
“He probably wouldn’t have if he hadn’t walked in on me telling my brother pretty much the same thing.”
Luke’s eyes widened comically as he took in her words.
“You told your brother that I did something to make you hate me and that I don't know what it is and it’s eating me up inside?” He asked in confusion.
“I told him I love you,” She said bluntly, all the bravery she had inherited from her mom giving her the nerve. “And that I’ve been trying to distance myself from you because I didn’t think you felt the same.”
“That’s...that’s...Jules, that’s crazy!” He exclaimed, bouncing a little to emphasize his words. “I’m head over heels, crazy in love with you. Always have been.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” She asked softly, managing to step even closer to him.
His eyes softened as he reached down to tuck one of her curls behind her ear.
“Because you’re my boss, and you’re totally out of my league. You’re this super talented, total force of nature. I mean you’re Julie Molina and I’m…”
“A big fan?” Julie interrupted, raising one eyebrow teasingly.
Luke froze.
“How did you…”
“I’ve been in your apartment, remember? When you had the flu I snooped a little. Sorry. The fact that you have my first album on vinyl is one thing but to have a cd of my first EP is really impressive. I didn’t know hard copies of that still existed…”
Like groaned.
“Ok, ok. You got me. I didn’t want you to think I was a pathetic fanboy, alright?”
Julie grinned.
“Isn’t that what you are?”
Luke smiled softly down at her, brushing the back of two fingers over her cheek.”
“Only for you, Boss.”
Julie instinctively stretched onto her toes, raising her face towards his, her eyes starting to flutter shut…
BANG
They sprang apart and spun to face Alex who had just emerged breathing heavily into the doorway behind them.
“You know no one is more Team Juke than I am but Julie you are going on in 2 minutes!”
“Oh crap,” Julie said. “I’m coming.”
Alex shot her a skeptical look.
Julie glared at him until he sighed and disappeared back inside.
“Team Juke?” Luke asked.
Julie giggled, already backing towards the door.
“Don’t ask. I’ve got to go but later we should talk about your future with the company.”
Luke’s eyebrows shot up.
“You’re firing me?”
Julie grinned.
“Well, I think we both might find your current duties a little too distracting. I think I need a stoic, middle aged man built like a linebacker. But we’ve been looking to hire a new songwriter to help me with the next album if you know anyone who might be interested.”
Luke grinned back.
“I might.”
He bit his lip and stared after her with those big, beautiful, dangerous eyes.
He was such trouble.
Julie ran back to him wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning up to a plant a quick kiss on his lips, pulling back before he could fully register what she was doing.
“Hold that thought,” She whispered with a smile before turning and running back through the door and towards the second dream come true of the night.
She was Julie Molina. She was about to play the Orpheum. She was in love with her bodyguard.
She was in trouble and she couldn’t be happier about it.

Line Without A Hook Alive!Luke x Reader (Part One)
Based Of The Song Line Without A Hook by Ricky Montgomery
Please Read Beforehand: If you know about what's going on with Charlie Gillespie, great, if you don't, great, please do not talk about it in the comments, or ask me about it, as the comments will be removed if so. I do not define a character by it's actor, so no bashing the character because of the drama that's going on. Please, and thank you.
Description: You are Alex's little sister. What happens when it gets addressed to him that Luke likes you?... And you might like him too. (Alive!Luke x Reader) (Alex x Sibling!Reader)
Warnings: Mild swearing, mild angst (because me), some fluff.
=Line Without a Hook=
"I'm going to tell her," Luke announces.
"Tell her what?" Julie asks from the couch, calmly yet curiously.
Alex perks up on his stool, stopping his previous movements (twirling his drumsticks). "Who?" he asks, narrowing his eyes.
"Alex! I thought you were with Y/N today." Luke adjusts his vest.
Avoiding his questionable glares, Alex stands up. "So, who are you going to tell what?"
"Oh-um-I-did I say something?" Luke stutters.
"Julie?" Alex calls out.
"What?" Julie continues to look down at her Biology textbook.
"It seems like you know who this "her" is. So spill? Is it someone you like, Luke? Why does Julie know, but not me?" Alex starts to get worked up.
"Oh, I know," Reggie adds, stupidly.
Luke gives Reggie a 'don't' look. "Yeah, it's someone I 'like', but Alex. Okay, I-I don't know how to tell you this, but... I-I like... Y/N," he admits, the end being barely audible.
Alex gives a blank stare towards Luke. "I'm sorry." He leans his ear closer. "Could you repeat that for me? Because I must have misheard. You like who?"
Luke gulps, swallowing down his fear. "I like Y/N," he repeats, slowly.
"I'm..." Alex takes a deep breath. "I'm going to..." His voice keeps failing him. "No."
"No?" Luke questions. "You're saying I can't tell her I like her?"
"You cannot date her," Alex argues. "I don't care if she likes you back, you--no!" Alex gestures a strangling motion towards Luke. "You can't date my little sister." He points at Luke, before pacing around the studio.
"Alex," Julie joins, dragging out the syllables of his name. "Give Luke a chance, he is your best friend, can't you trust him?" she advises.
"No!" Alex shouts. "I mean I trust you, but not with Y/N."
Luke's eyes widen. "That doesn't make any sense . What is that even supposed to mean?"
"It means! I've seen you take and throw away girls in the matter of days I'm not going to have you hurt her. She's already so fragile, and you'll only make it worse," Alex explains. "And if something happens between you two, and you can't stand to be near each other... You know who I'll choose to side on. If I ever had to choose between the band, and my sister. I'm going to choose her."
"But, I would never hurt her," he pauses. "You're not even going to give me a chance?!"
"When did this start?" Alex asks, urgently.
"When..." Luke lets out a shaky inhale. "When I first met her."
"I knew it! From the looks you were giving her, the compliments, how you wanted her to paint you, and now you have said painting in your room where anyone can see it, the way you gave her your clothes when she was cold, I knew it wasn't you being 'friendly'." Alex throws his hands up. "Why? Why is it the first time you actually 'like' someone it's the person I care about the most? Someone I'm related to? Someone I can't bear to see heartbroken?"
"But, I really like her, and I just want you to see--"
"I said no!" Alex snaps. "Listen closely, I'm going to tell you this one more time... No."
"Give me a reason why!" Luke defends. "A solid reason why."
Alex's eyes now a dark blue. "Because she's a lady, and you're just a boy."
"What?" Luke asks, taking it as an insult.
Reggie pops up from his criss cross position. "He said she's a lady, and you're--"
"You're just a line without a hook," Alex cuts Reggie off. "You'll never be able to handle her emotions, insecurities, feelings. And you--," Alex lets out a cold laugh, "--you will never be her first boyfriend, her first everything, because I know you'll screw up her expectations."
"What's going on?" Everyone turns their head towards the entrance.
"Y/N," Julie states, standing up. "I thought you weren't able to come by?"
"I'm very persuasive," she replies, breathless. "Alex?" she questions, averting her eyes between him and Luke.
"Y/N, how much did you...?" Alex's gaze softens seeing his little sister so vulnerable. "You're crying," he observes.
"No, I'm not," she weakly assures.
Her puffy red eyes, and pale complexion justifies her claims as false. "What's wrong?" Luke asks.
"You didn't answer my question." She ignores her friends, and brother's concern.
"I can explain," Alex starts.
Y/N runs off before he has the chance to get another word out. "Don't," Julie warns Luke who tries to go after her. "Alex, it's your sister, you need to talk to her about what she wants, I get it you're scared, and you care about her feelings, but she's very mature. And as her best friend, I also worry, but I trust her."
Alex looks as Julie who's giving him a pointed look. "I hate it when you're right."
He jogs off, trying to find her. Quickly spotting her sitting down one of the stone steps outside. "I'm too tired to run off any further."
Alex laughs despite the context. He walks up to sit down next to her. "What happened today?"
She shrugs. "Got my report card," she whispers.
"Y/N, I'm sorry are you--"
"No," she interrupts. She rustles through her backpack, pulling out the sheet of paper.
Alex gasps a little. "Straight A's?" She nods. "Y/N, that's incredible!" He hugs her. "I'm so happy for you." She lets out a small smile. "So, then why are you crying? This is great news."
"Because the only reason I'm getting these grades is because of you, Luke, and Reggie. Yes, Reggie." She giggles. "You underestimate him too much. You guys help me so much, and I'm--I guess--it's stupid," she ends up saying.
"What?"
"I just... I wish I could see you more, and not by lying to mom and dad about staying at Julie's. I wish they could just see how much you do for me, and love you no matter what for that. But, they're so close minded I can't even have my own guitar."
"I'm sorry," he whispers. "It's my fault."
She shakes her head. "That's not what I'm trying to say, it's not your fault."
"I should've just kept my secret between you and I."
"No!" She jumps up, scaring him. "That's the point, you took a risk, and I admire you for that. Do you know how many times a day I wish I can scream at them that I want to be an actor, and be in the music program at school? But, I can't because I'm scared, but then I see you with your band and how happy you are. And, I'm not happy!" I pause. "There's so many things I've been hiding from people, because I don't want to hurt them, and I'm scared of the outcome. But, if I live in fear, what kind of life will I be living?"
Alex eyes meet her with an unreadable glint. "God dammit, I hate it when you're right."
"What?" Y/N asks confused.
"Y/N, I am afraid of everything. But, mostly I'm afraid to see you grow up, and make your own decisions."
"Alex..." She sits back down. "I love you, and I get it, it's your job as a big brother to protect me, but I'm a tough girl, yes I have my own problems but when I'm with you, and your friends, and Julie those little things usually disappear. Because you guys make me feel more loved than anyone else." She hugs his side, him hugging back tightly.
"You're growing up too fast," he utters.
She lets out a hearty laugh. "I learn from the best."
He shakes his head. "And if you want to date Luke, I won't stop you."
"What?!" Y/N exclaims, pulling away. "Date Luke?!" She gapes at him. "W-Why would you think...?"
Alex places a hand on hers. "It's obvious."
She rolls her eyes. "Yeah, there was that one time when we held hands and--"
Alex covers his ears. "Lalalala!" he sings. "I'll try to not be seriously weirded out by you two but please. I don't give a damn about the way you two touch when you're alone."
Y/N's face turns a bright red. "Noted."
They laugh at each other's uncomfortable glances. "Well." She raises an eyebrow at him. "There's now nothing stopping you."
She smiles widely, running off inside.
Alex lingers outside for a moment. He stares at the sky. "Wish me luck."

Reggie//i can't let you go now that i got it
Request: your last reggie mantle imagine was soooooo cute it was.... BIG FAV i'm still grinning! could you please do one where reader and reggie have been best friends their whole lives? she's super protective and sweet to him and like? she's been in love for years but has been hiding it well?? she gets him to come away with her to college because 'screw this town' and they live together? but eventually she starts going on dates and it makes him realize he's in love with her too?? mutual love confession
hey! so before you go any further trigger warning mentions of abuse, specifically around reggie and his dad. it’s not in detail but it is mentioned a few times so don’t read if that upsets you. the last thing i want you to be is sad. i hope you all have a good day anyway, whether you’re reading this or not! (title is from Børns ‘electric love’)
- For 18 years
- Reggie Mantle has been the only constant in your life
- Even when you were babies he was there
- Your mom’s sat beside each other in baby class, cooing and awing over each other’s kids
- All while 6 month old you stole 6 month old Reggie’s toy
- And then he cried so hard he vomited on not only himself but you as well
- Which then made you cry even louder
- And then your mom’s were asked to leave
- So instead
- It became a weekly thing for your mom to take you to The Mantle’s
- While her and Mrs Mantle gossiped and drank tea
- You and Reggie would hit each other with various stuffed toys.
- As you got older
- The weekly visits turned into daily ones
- Especially when you moved three houses away from him
- You and Reggie started to see each other more than your own parents did
- Your mom still went over once a week
- But when she arrived you were always usually there
- Either stood in the kitchen getting a snack
- Or lying on Reggie’s bed watching an awful movie he just ‘had to show you’
- They usually involved a hybrid of two animals
- Sometimes mythical, sometimes not
- But in all of them they were usually taking over the world
- They also always had the same four actors in
- But despite how much you protested
- ‘reggie? are you being serious? we watched this one last time.’
- ‘no, we watched molemaid last time. this is medusamaid. they’re completely different’
- ‘oh, sorry. my mistake’
- You actually secretly loved them
- Because they made him happy
- You would watch in awe as he laughed at stupid jokes
- And how his eyes would always light up at a particularly gruesome part, no matter how badly CGI’d it was
- You also listened to the countless of theories as to how ‘hurrik9’ is clearly the prequel to ‘hellhounds’ because ‘they’ve got the same main character! it doesn’t matter if they’re not played by the same person. y/n, they’ve got the same name.’
- You also listened to him complain about the inconsistencies between ‘werewombats 1’ and ‘werewombats 2’
- ‘no matter how much the director stands by the decision to make them turn on each other, despite the first film clearly stating that that’s the last thing they’d do.’
- But the thing you loved the most about it
- Was that he was only ever this way with you
- You’d been sworn to secrecy when you walked in on him watching ‘dinocano vs uniquake’
- And you promised never to tell anyone about his secret passion
- Or the fact that he had a stack of notebooks filled with plots and mini scripts for his own films.
- Reggie may have gotten popular
- But to you, he’s still the same Reggie you’ve always known.
- Whose scared of clowns but won’t admit it
- And cried when watching Edward Scissorhands but if anybody asks it was you
- And who hates hot chocolate, but its the only thing he’ll drink when he’s sick
- He also only eats pink marshmallows in months ending in R
- And white ones every other month
- But in December he has both...because its Christmas.
- Yeah, you and Reggie are best friends
- Always have been, always will
- But it doesn’t stop you from wanting more.
- It doesn’t stop the longing looks when you think no one is watching
- Or the lingering touches whenever he hugs you
- It doesn’t stop your heartbeat picking up whenever he walks into a room
- Or how you forget how to breathe whenever he looks at you
- You look forward to everyday, even if you have a pop quiz or homework you only remembered the night before
- Because he’s going to be there to make you smile
- Even if he isn’t doing it on purpose
- You look forward to the countless of texts he sends
- No matter how weird or ridiculous
- Like when he text you at half three in the morning to ask if birds were real because somebody told him they weren’t.
- You then got a text straight afterwards telling you that it would be great idea for a plot
- And you still answer every single one
- No matter how stupid they are
- It’s really a wonder how you get any sleep with your phone being on loud all the time
- But it’s worth it
- Especially when you get texts like
- ‘he’s done it again’
- Reggie’s relationship with his father complicated to say the least
- You remember when you were younger they used to be best friends
- Reggie idolized him
- And you’d have conversations in Reggie’s tree house, about how much he wanted to be just like his dad when he grew up
- But when he did grow up
- And started to develop a personality that didn’t just revolve around football
- Reggie no longer wanted to be just like his dad
- He wanted to be the furthest thing from him
- The first time it happened
- Reggie tried his hardest to hide it from you
- And for the first time in 8 years
- You went two days without seeing each other
- On the third day though
- You’d had enough
- So you went round to see him
- But when you asked his mom if he was in
- She lied and told you he had just gone out
- Even though you could clearly see him trying and failing to hide on the stairs
- So you did what any normal friend would do
- You climbed through his bedroom window
- With about as much grace and steal as you could muster
- Which surprisingly, wasn’t a lot
- And you gave him the fright of his life
- ‘what the hell are you doing here?’
- ‘you’re avoiding me’
- ‘i’m not. i’ve just been...busy’
- ‘doing what? fighting?’
- ‘what?’
- ‘your eye’
- ‘oh yeah...that’
- That was when you knew something was wrong
- You’ve known Reggie your entire laugh
- And you know the three things he’ll always boast about
- Girls, football and fighting
- ‘what happened?’
- When he told you
- You couldn’t believe what he was saying
- You wanted to find Marty Mantle and give him a black eye...see how he likes it
- But Reggie begged you not to do or say anything
- ‘it’ll only make it worse’
- ‘but its wrong. he should be locked up’
- ‘who’s going to believe me?’
- ‘me’
- ‘see...it was only one time anyway’
- So you agreed, reluctantly
- And you so wanted to believe it
- But then a few weeks later he turned up to school with a bust lip
- A month after that another bruise around his eye that he tried to hide behind sunglasses
- And by the time graduation rolled around
- Both of you had lost count of the sunglasses and excuses
- For three years he’d been trapped in a house with a father who thought hitting was the same as love
- And a mother who pretended it didn’t happen
- But now college was round the corner and that meant a chance for both of you
- Or at least thats what you thought
- ‘you didn’t get in?’
- ‘i didn’t get in.’
- ‘to any of them?’
- ‘nope’
- ‘reggi-’
- ‘it’s fine. my dad has always wanted me to work for him. i guess this will make him happy. even if i am the cleaner’
- ‘reg-’
- ‘please go’
- That summer was the longest one of your life
- It was even longer that the time Reggie had to get his appendix out and so you couldn’t hang out for a 3 weeks.
- For two and a half months
- You heard nothing from Reggie
- You text, called, DM’d and even E-mailed
- But you got nothing
- You went round at all times of the day to try and talk to him
- And every time Mrs Mantle answered and told you he was either out or busy
- Doing homework was her favourite excuse
- And Reggie has only ever done homework when you were doing the majority of it
- You even tried climbing in through his window again
- But he locked it
- So you watched every morning as he dragged himself into his dad’s car
- Wearing a stiff suit and a miserable expression
- No matter how hard you tried to get to him before the left
- How fast you ran or how early you got to his house
- They were always long gone before you managed to get anywhere close to him
- You missed the midnight texts about nothing
- You missed his stupid jokes
- You missed watching an entire room light up whenever he walked in
- You missed the way he made you feel, even if he was unaware of it
- You even missed watching his god-awful movies
- You just missed him
- And when he missed your leaving party
- That was the final straw
- At 7am the next morning
- You shoved the last of your boxes in the back of your car
- Said goodbye to your parents
- And drove away
- Three houses down the street
- Making sure your parents had gone back inside before stopping
- You sat outside for a few minutes
- Trying to think of what to do or say
- You knew his mom would answer the door
- And that you’d get the same excuses
- You also knew from the past few experiences that his window would still be locked
- So you threw rocks at his bedroom window in the hopes that when he’d check to see what it was, he’d leave it unlocked
- And he did!
- You watched from behind a bush as he hung his head out the window to look around
- His brow furrowed and hair messy
- Clearly he’d just woke up
- You couldn’t help the smile twitching at your lips
- You’d missed that face
- Climbing the window was a lot harder than it used to be
- Mr Mantle had taken the ladders away
- Another reason as to why he sucked
- But you managed eventually
- And you almost died only twice
- Which is good
- It’s better than three
- You landed on the carpet with a loud thud that made him jump half way across the room
- ‘y/n. what the hell are you doing here?’
- ‘it’s moving day. and i must say i’m very disappointed at the lack of preparation on your part. have you even started packing yet?’
- ‘it’s not funny y/n’
- ‘i know. do you see me laughing?’
- ‘i’m being serious y/n. just leave’
- ‘no’
- ‘what?’
- ‘the last time you told me to leave, i listened and i didn’t see you for two months, so no’
- ‘what about college’
- ‘what about it?’
- ‘it starts in three days’
- ‘i know. and if we stand here any longer we’re going to miss it. so get packed and lets go. it’s a nine hour drive and i’m not doing all of that alone’
- ‘you know i can’t go’
- ‘says who?’
- ‘my dad, every single college i applied for and me’
- ‘listen to me reggie. you are my best friend, you have been since we were babies. there’s not a part of my life you haven’t been in. do you really think that would stop at college?’
- ‘we didn’t spend the summer together’
- ‘and it was the worst summer of my life’
- ‘same...but that might have been because i was spending 12 hours a day in an office’
- ‘rude. but i’ll take it!’
- ‘i did miss you though. it was weird not seeing your face everyday’
- That makes your cheeks heat up and you have to force the flutter in your chest to go away
- ‘it always cheers me up’
- There it goes again and you want to claw at your chest until it’s no longer there
- Hope is a terrible thing to have when you’ve been in love with your best friend for your entire life
- ‘you always cheer me up’
- Oh dear...
- ‘i love you...a-as a friend. this summer has been the longest and most depressing for both of us. i don’t want to live the rest of my life like that. i need you reggie. so please pack your bags, say screw you to your dad and to this town and lets go’
- ‘what about money? where am i going to live?’
- ‘we’ll figure that out on the way there. just hurry up’
- And he did
- You and Reggie threw the majority of his belongings into any bag you could find
- He took all the money he’d been saving out of the poorly disguised fake plant
- And wrote a nice little note for his parents
- You also may have added a few choice words to it
- But what Reggie doesn’t know won’t hurt him
- And the two of you climbed into your car and never looked back
- The 9 hour car ride was the most fun you’ve ever had
- It was like you were trying to fit the entire summer you’d lost into those few hours
- It was filled with off key singing
- And stories of your summer
- His favourite being about Archie being tricked into going skinny dipping by himself
- You laughed loudly like nothing had happened
- And cried silently because everything had
- Thankfully when you arrived on campus, it was already night
- So you managed to sneak Reggie into your room
- And when you nervously told your roommate
- She just grinned at you
- ‘it’s fine, my boyfriend will probably be staying over a lot too’
- ‘oh, he’s not my boyfriend’
- ‘we’re not together’
- ‘...okay’
- She said with a knowing smile and you and Reggie shared a look
- And a year filled with adventures started
- Reggie got a job as a bartender with a little help from Veronica
- And you started your classes
- But nothing is ever easy
- At least not when it involves you or Reggie
- It turns out hiding a whole human is a lot more difficult that you anticipated.
- It involves Reggie squeezing into your closet
- And a whole team of people to get him to and from the showers
- But it was also difficult for another reason
- Because it was easy to hide your feelings from him when you lived in separate house
- But now you’re sharing a room
- And a bed
- And every time he would wrap his arms around you
- And pull in for a half asleep cuddle
- You’d forget how to breathe
- You’ve never been more excited to wake up
- Because he’d be all messy hair and parted lips with just a little bit of drool coming out of them that it would be cute instead of gross
- And when he said good morning in the same deep, tired voice
- You wanted to live in that feeling forever
- But then 2nd year rolled around and everything changed
- It all started when you moved into your own apartment
- You knew you had to but there was a part of you that hoped you could keep everything the same
- You found a tiny, two bedroom flat that you could both just about afford
- Reggie was so happy to have his own room
- ‘i won’t have to sleep next to you and your freezing cold feet anymore’
- ‘i’ll just sneak into your bed when your fast asleep and put them on you then instead’
- ‘i thought we were supposed to be friends’
- It took a few weeks to get used to an empty bed
- But eventually you started to sleep properly
- And it was quite nice to have your own space again
- It meant you could study without having to listen to ‘nighthawk nightmare’
- Honestly, you don’t really know what the plot of that one is
- But you’ve still seen it 7 times
- You may be in love with him but it doesn’t mean he can’t be annoying sometimes
- And you were happy with going back to admiring from afar
- Your heart can’t get broken that way
- In fact a small part of you thought he felt the same way
- That one glimmer of hope you felt a year ago
- Came back all of sudden
- And soon
- You became aware of the lingering touches
- And the gifts he’d buy you just because
- He also asked what you wanted to watch for your movie night
- And he’s never, ever done that unless you were sad or sick
- And even then, when you broke your arm a few years ago, he chose the film
- The way he looked at you suddenly felt different
- You would feel him staring, but when you would check he would always be scrolling through his phone
- And you’re sure the was a little bit of flirtiness in his tone whenever he spoke to you
- But just because you think you can’t be burnt if you stand far enough away from the fire
- Doesn’t mean that the sparks can’t jump out and get you anyway
- Because all of sudden Reggie started bringing girls home
- And every time you saw a t-shirt that wasn’t yours on the sofa
- Or a pair of shoes discarded by the door
- You felt yourself die a little
- After a few weeks of this
- Something in you snapped
- You’d spent the majority of your life pining after some boy who saw you as nothing more than a friend
- And sometimes a small part of you thought as just an escape route
- So you moped for a few weeks before deciding it was finally time to move on
- Reggie would only ever see you as a friend
- And that’s fine
- The only way to move on, is to move on.
- So you waited for the right guy to move on with
- And there were a few
- But none of them were right
- Until you met Daniel
- Sweet Daniel with curly brown hair and dimples
- Who studied history
- And spent his days sitting in the coffee shop on campus
- For a few weeks the two of you spent your short interactions stealing glances and exchanging shy smiles
- That evolved to small talk with flirty undertones
- Until finally he asked you out
- And you said yes
- And you kept saying yes to each date afterwards
- They were fun too
- He’d take you to museum's and on picnics and at night he’d pick you up and you’d go star gazing
- He would make you laugh when he’d tell you a joke
- And make you blush when he’s whisper in your ear while staring up at the sky
- But he wasn’t him
- And that killed you
- It doesn’t matter how many time he takes you to watch some unknown indie film thats supposed to be the greatest thing ever made
- It has nothing on standing outside the only cinema in town that’s showing ‘sharkcano vs tigerana’ in the freezing cold with Reggie wearing an absolutely ridiculous costumes that Reggie threw together last minute and somehow roped you into wearing too.
- But what hurt even more was watching how Reggie acted around you when you and Daniel started dating
- He looked hurt whenever he saw the two of you together
- And you would watch him roll his eyes whenever you mentioned him
- Until eventually he would just avoid you all together
- Do you know how hard it is to avoid someone when you’re living in the same 2 bedroom flat that barely gives two foot to yourself?
- It’s hard
- But Reggie finds a way
- Eventually you’re more roommates than friends
- And you really don’t know how much more you can take
- You feel like you’re about to break
- And Daniel can see that too
- So on Friday night he invites you to go drinking with him and his friends instead of staying in and moping
- ‘bye, i’m going out’
- ‘wait’
- The speed of which he runs from his room and into the living room where your stood, startles you to say the least
- ‘what?’
- ‘don’t go out with him.’
- ‘why not? what ever george has told you about is a lie. george does that. he once told a bunch of people that you streaked in an old people’s home and almost killed his grandmother’
- ‘because he isn’t me’
- You’ve dreamt of those words
- Built them up in your head for years
- But in all of your daydreams, there’s never been a scenario like this one
- Not one where you’re about to leave to go on a date with another guy
- ‘reggie? what are you talking about?’
- You need to make sure he’s saying what you think he’s saying
- Because you can feel yourself hoping again
- And you know if he doesn’t mean what you want him to
- You don’t think you’ll be able to recover
- ‘i love you y/n. you’re my best friend, you always have been, you always will be and i love you.’
- ‘reg-’
- ‘please tell me you feel the same way’
- ‘i-’
- In your head you had a full oscar worthy speech planned out just in case this ever happened
- But now you’re here in the moment.
- You have no idea what to say
- ‘it doesn’t matter. just leave’
- ‘no’
- ‘what?’
- ‘do you really think i’m going to walk away from you after that? when have i ever walked away from you?’
- ‘i-no’
- ‘i love you too by the way. if you care’
- ‘shut up...wait really?’
- ‘yes i do. i’ve loved you for as long as i can remember so are you going to just stand there or are you going to kiss me?’
- ‘i’m definitely going to kiss you’
- ‘good’
- And he does
- He’s standing in front of you before you can catch your breath
- His hands reach up to cup your cheeks
- His lips part as he stares down at you
- And you’ve never seen him look at anyone the way he’s looking at you
- Like you’re everything good and light in the universe
- And like he’s also been waiting just as long for this moment
- Maybe he has
- Maybe he’s been waiting all his life for this
- He just didn’t know
- You feel whatever breath you had left leave your lungs
- His lips are soft against yours, but he gets his point across
- And you’ve never been happier
- All the heartache and tears
- The laughter and stupid jokes
- The 3am texts
- The constant worrying
- The early mornings and late nights
- The damage to limbs from trying to fit in tiny closets
- And the scrapes on your ankles and bruising on your legs from crawling through his bedroom window
- They’re all worth it
- ‘are you still going on your date?’
- ‘what do you think?’
- ‘good. because they’ve just released werewombats 3’

Back at you! Thoughts on the show?
Boy do I!
Overall there was a lot that I enjoyed. I really like this show, because I'm a huge sucker for angst and family drama and this has a lot of that!
Some positives first:
I like the direction they took Luther in (while I didn't hate him, I wasn't... very fond of him back in season 1) I like him a lot more now. I think his development from how he treated Viktor in season 1 vs how he's treating him was really nice. While the romance was way too rushed, I will admit that the actor's had good chemistry and were kinda able to pull it off? If more time had been given to this subplot, I think it would have been really good. Usually I hate forced and rushed romances but I didn't hate this one, so.. yay?
I thought Viktor's transition was done well. I like that it wasn't made into a big deal and his family supported him. I think that was great.
Lila and Diego were good this season. I wasn't super into them last season but I felt there was more this time around? I do agree that Lila was all over the place but she did just lose her mum after finding out her mum killed her and now knows she's pregnant? That would be a mindfuck.
Okay on to some criticism.
While I for the most part enjoyed dark!Allison and was pleased they were not acting like surviving the 60's and the lose of her husband and daughter were not a big deal, I thought... that scene in episode 5 was a bit too much. I legit skipped it because I didn't want to watch that. I'm not really sure what they're going to do with her next? If they get a season 4 (hopefully!) I'm kinda going back and forth about how she did a lot of terrible things this season to get back to the ones she loves, but at the cost of everyone else?
I agree that there wasn't enough Klaus this season and that it did feel like he was building toward something big. While I have not read the comics, I do know that he has way more powers in the comics and was hoping he'd show some of those as well? But his time with Reggie was done very well. Although, I was confused about the fact that Reggie watched him die like 10 times, helped him get better at controlling it and then was surprised at the end when he came back?? Hello?????
Speaking of Reggie, while I dislike him, his actor continues to do a great job.
I wanted more sparrows. I really disappointed that almost all of them died so quickly. I think there was a lot of potential there and a lot of them had pretty cool powers but we barely got to see any. Guess it was a case of too many characters, don't know what to do with them, get rid of them somehow.
Overall, I did enjoy it. I think the pacing needed work and if I had been in charge of it, I probably would have cut out the Luther x Sloane romance and given more space to the other sparrows.
I do hope we get a season 4 as that ending was strange and I want to see what happens next.

Our Stars Collided- Part 3
Summary: Luke and the reader are spending even more time with each other. Luke starts something without thinking of the payback of doing that to the reader
Words: 3k
Warnings: cuss words
Pairing: luke patterson x reader
...........................................
Today had been another great day at practice, the five of you had finally started working on Edge of Great and it was already coming together really well. You were really starting to find your way in the band.
But you were not doing quite as hot in school. Your grades weren’t slipping but you were a little bit stressed with everything you had on your plate.
You got back home around seven and went straight to doing your homework. You didn’t have that much, but it was just time consuming stuff.
You got done with your short essay and you were halfway done with math, when you swore you heard a knock on your window. You ignored it since it was most likely just a tree branch, and you went back to your homework.
It took you a couple seconds, but you suddenly remembered that there weren't any tree branches in front of your windows. You whipped around to see Luke sitting on your roof.
You pushed your window open, “What the hell are you doing up here?” you questioned. You were somewhat amused, but also just confused.
He smiled, but he seemed more nervous than usual. “I wanted to show you something,” he divulged.
“I know I said I hated the popping in, but this is somehow worse,” you conceded.
At your words, he poofed into your room.
“So what did you want to show me?” you asked.
“Well it’s going to require a cd player, and Julie told me those aren’t as big anymore. Do you have one?” He glanced around.
“Yeah I have one in my computer,” you told him. You held your hand out for the cd and he handed it to you. You recognized the labeling as their original band, Sunset Curve.
“No way, is this your old demo?” you exclaimed.
“Yeah, I just thought, you might wanna hear it since you’re playing with us now,” he suggested. He shoved his hands into his pockets.
“Definitely!” you agreed.
You put the cd into your computer, and you pulled up the soundtrack. The first song started to play and you were already impressed. They definitely had a slightly different vibe back then. It was more rock than the rock and pop blend all of you created now.
Luke had his legs pulled up close to him. “What do you think?” he asked, as he fidgeted with one of his rings.
“It’s really good!” you chirped out.
“You should hear the other songs on that one, that one’s nothing in comparison to the next one,” he bragged.
You gestured for him to change the song, but before you could move out of his way he just reached around you to click the next song. The two of you were only like that for a second, but you couldn’t ignore the way your heart rate went up.
You calmed down as he went to sit back down on your floor. The song started to play and Luke watched for your reaction. You immediately recognized the first voice on the track as Luke’s, you tried to mask your excitement over how good he sounded but you were pretty sure he noticed, as his lips twitched upwards.
As the chorus hit you started nodding your head along to it, the song was pretty catchy. If you were not currently in Luke’s presence you would’ve been dancing, but you contained yourself.
As the song continued playing you noticed a voice change and you realized it was Alex’s. Your eyes went wide and you turned to Luke in shock. He nodded as if to confirm that it was Alex.
The vocals went back to Luke but then you heard another voice that you immediately recognized as Reggie’s. You let out a whoop in recognition of your fellow guitarist, which Luke chuckled at.
Suddenly, you felt the tone change, and you could hear what sounded like an acoustic guitar in the background. You were positively beaming, you got tingles from how good they sounded. As the song finished, you turned to Luke.
“That was so good!” you gasped.
Luke looked down at the floor. “Thanks, too bad we never got to play it,” he sadly confessed.
“You never got to play that one in front of an audience?” you asked, surprised.
“Nope, we managed to record it for the demo, and do it for a sound check. It was supposed to premier the night we died,” he admited.
He looked so down, you wished you could do something about it. But reversing time was not one of your capabilities.
“Well for what it’s worth, if I was a crowd I would’ve loved it.”
He scrunched his eyebrows up and pulled his lips in. “I know I’m from the nineties but that was interesting wording,” he teased.
You grinned sheepishly, “Hey! It was the best I had!” you laughed. You tried to lightly wack his knee, but your hand just went right through him, your face fell slightly.
“Yeah, trust me, Julie has tried that, it doesn’t work,” he pointed out.
“So it seems,” you agreed. You tried not to show how disappointed you were. Even though you had tried it before and failed, you were hoping that somehow you could today.
“So is that all you wanted to show me?” you asked, break the silence.
“Yeah, that was it,” he confirmed. He stood up and you went to take the cd out.
“No it’s okay, you can keep it,” he told you.
“You sure?” you uncertainly questioned.
“Yeah, it’s not like we need it.”
You figured he was right, and put it back in it’s case to put on one of your shelves.
“Oh y/n so did you make a decision?” he wondered.
You turned to him with a puzzled look on your face.
“Whether you’d prefer me to scare you by being in front of your window, or by poofing into your room?” The smirk he wore should’ve been considered illegal but you somehow managed kept your cool
You put your hands on your hips. “I’m not answering that question Luke.”
He shrugged, “Ghost’s choice then.” And with a poof he was gone.
He was lucky he was cute.
In the following week it was becoming sort of a habit, around eight, once you had got your homework done, Luke would pop over. Originally he kept coming over at seven, but you needed to get your school work done so you told him to come at eight. The two of you would just chat, sometimes about highschool, sometimes about the downsides and upsides of being a ghost, and sometimes about all the new things in the world.
But occasionally things complicated your little arrangement. Tonight was one of those nights; you had a lot of work you needed to get done, and the band had gone late. So when Luke popped over at around eight-thirty you still weren’t done.
“Y/n,” he greeted.
You didn’t take your eyes off of your computer. “Hi, sorry but you’re gonna have to wait a little bit, I’m still doing homework,” you explained.
He flopped down on your bed next to you. It was weird that you couldn’t touch him but you could feel his weight sink the bed slightly.
“So when are you going to be done?” he wondered.
“Hopefully soon, this math homework sucks,” you complained.
“Then don’t do it,” he suggested.
You finally looked over at him, to see that he was being completely serious.
“That’s not helpful,” you commented.
Now he was starting to smile. “Wasn’t intended to be.” He went to poke your shoulder, but he just phased through you.
Luke got up and started absentmindedly walking circles around your room. You didn’t really mind him doing this until he started messing with your stuff.
“Luke don’t touch my guitar!” you called over to him.
He whipped around towards you. “I wasn’t!” he argued.
You looked over at him. “Luke, I saw you doing it,” you said matter of factly.
He looked up at the ceiling. “Okay, so maybe I did,” he admitted.
He walked around for a couple more minutes without touching anything. You were almost done when you looked up to see Luke messing with something.
You couldn’t help but to shake your head. “Luke, what are you doing now?” you groaned.
“I’m just looking through your shirts,” he explained, not bothering to look at you.
You figured that him looking through your shirts was relatively harmless so you went back to finishing up your work.
“Okay, I’m done!” you announced a couple minutes later.
You saw that Luke was still looking through your pile.
“You find anything you like?” you asked, lying down on the floor.
“Yeah actually.” He picked up your favorite crop top to show you.
“Good choice,” you complimented.
“I thought so too.” He set the shirt back down.
“So what do you wanna do now?” you asked. Luke’s face practically lit up.
“So Julie was telling me about some movies called the Avengers. And it seems really cool, and Reggie is dedicated to star wars and Alex doesn’t really like superhero movies, so I thought you and I could watch it?” he excitedly suggested.
“Sure! I love those movies!” you enthusiastically agreed.
You moved all of your homework off of your bed and grabbed a second blanket for him, and some pillows.
Once the two of you had gotten situated on your bed, you pulled up the movies on your laptop.
You went in release order, starting from Iron Man 1. You skipped the Hulk movie, as you deemed it ‘bad’ and ‘not important enough of a plot to warrant watching it’. Luke seemed to be enjoying himself, he especially seemed to like the soundtrack of the Iron man movies. He was intrigued by the Thor movie as it was very different from the vibe of Iron Man. He found the humor of the movie to be kinda funny. His commentary made the movies so much more entertaining even though you had watched them several times, they ranged from dissing the characters, comparing them to your bandmates, to cheering them on.
“Oh my god Luke-” you suddenly realized something.
“What?” he worriedly asked.
“It’s three in the morning,” you gasped.
“Oh shit,” he said, quietly.
“Yeah, that’s not exactly going to be fun for me at school tomorrow,” you admitted with a sigh.
“Sorry, I probably shouldn’t have had us watch those tonight,” Luke apologized.
“No, it was fun, I’m glad we did,” you reassured him.
“Somehow I have a feeling you are going to be saying a different thing tomorrow,” Luke sarcastically teased.
“Oh, I definitely will. But that is why I’m telling you goodbye now,” you agreed.
“I’ll keep it in mind for when you’re being cranky tomorrow,” he remarked.
You chose to ignore his comment. “Goodnight Luke.”
He smiled brightly. “Goodnight y/n.”
He was right, the next morning, you were miserable. All day you felt as if you were walking through a tired haze, and not the sleepy fun one. You just felt dead inside.
“Woah, what happened to you?” Flynn asked, as she sat next to you in your writing elective class.
“I stayed up with Luke till three in the morning,” you told her, still asleep.
Flynn pursed her lips
“We were watching Marvel movies,” you explained.
She narrowed her eyes at you.
“I’m serious,” you said defensively.
She moved slightly closer to you.
“What?” you asked, finally giving into her games.
“Nothing, just that my girl y/n has a crush on a boy named Luke. I mean he may be a ghost but that’s not gonna stop you so, why do I even try?” she asked herself.
“I don’t like Luke,” you lazily defended yourself.
“Yeah, and I don’t have a stylish shoe game today,” Flynn sarcastically remarked.
You didn’t bother to respond to that, and just flopped your head down on your desk.
Supposedly by unanimous vote, practice was canceled that day. Though you were almost certain that the vote was taken by those in favor of not dealing with you on three hours of sleep. Not that you blamed them, you wouldn’t want to deal with tired you either.
The following day however, you were excited for practice. After your Lizzo jam sesh, you and Julie arrived at her house to the boys already practicing.
“Well you guys look like you're ready to go,” you commented as you put your backpack on the floor.
“We are except just one thing is missing-” Luke started before poofing out.
You exchanged a glance with Julie, but you realized she had no idea what he was doing either.
He returned seconds later wearing none other than your cropped shirt. And inwardly your jaw dropped. He did better than just pull it off, he looked hot. You knew your face was burning up. But it was your shirt, so a price had to be paid; just not at that exact moment.
Luke struted up to you before leaning down slightly to your level. “I figured I’d change into more appropriate clothes.
You licked your lips and glared at him. “Don’t start things you can’t finish Patterson,” you emphasized his last name.
He winked at you before walking up to his spot.
Everyone else looked confused, but not surprised.
You were beyond flustered but if you wanted to prove a point you needed to act like he wasn’t bothering you at all. But he was making it especially difficult for you today. Every single time he would sing he would be looking right at you, with that same burning fire of desire in his eyes. And to make matters worse, Julie had the two of you sing Edge of Great together, where you couldn’t look away. You attempted to take a couple steps back to take some of the intensity off of you but he just followed you, and he was somehow grinning more. The fire in his eyes drew you in but the mischievous smile of his told you to run. But you were singing, so you were held in place, as your lips were only centimeters away from his.
The song finally ended, and you could look away. You returned back to the safety of Reggie and Alex.
“So are we just not going to talk about what just happened there or?” Alex trailed off.
“Not you too Alex,” you whined.
Alex just nodded his head, as he realized that you were not going to talk about what had happened.
After practice you waited until it was just you and Reggie left in the studio.
“Okay, so I have a prank, do you want in?” you asked him in a hushed voice.
“Yeah! What is it?” he marvelled.
“So you know how Luke was wearing a crop top today?” Reggie nodded. “Well that was my crop top. So now I want to take something of his, but I need your help. What would be the best thing to take?”
“Probably one of his sleeveless shirts,” he suggested.
“Can you get it for me without him noticing?” you requested.
“When do you want it?”
“Friday.”
“As a bassist to an electric guitar it would be my honor,” he said, before poofing out. And just like that your plan was in motion. Friday night Reggie came to give it to you, since you obviously couldn’t wear it as school. So you decided to wear it to your Saturday practice. Reggie had given you his black one that read rock and roll with white lettering on it. You wore a black sports bra underneath it. You paired it with some light wash jeans, a small chain around your neck, and your pair of vans. You let your hair fall loose and you looked at yourself in the mirror. You were content that you were winning this battle.
When you walked into Julie’s studio, and Luke wasn’t there yet. But that worked great for you because it gave you time to talk with your partner in crime.
“You look great, Luke is gonna lose it!” Reggie whisper yelled, excitedly.
“Thank you! I really hope so,” you were nervous, but mostly excited.
“You got this!” He clapped you on the shoulder, before heading closer over to his usual spot so the two of you wouldn’t raise suspicion.
Julie then walked in and immediately made eye contact with you. She narrowed her eyes at you to mentally communicate her confusion, you responded with your eyes and said that you would explain later.
Seconds later Luke popped in.
“Julie, have you seen my-” Luke just stopped mid sentence the second he saw you. He just stood there for a moment looking at you, it was like his brain short circuited. You could here Reggie let out a quiet snort.
Finally, he regained some consciousness and was able to move. You were stifling your giggles as he awkwardly made his way over to his guitar.
The rest of practice went off without a hitch, you unfortunately didn’t get to sing with him again. But everytime he would look back at you, there you would be, still wearing his shirt and looking as smug as ever.
By the time you had finished packing up your guitar you realized Alex was just about to leave, which would leave you with Luke.
“Wait Alex do-” Annnnnnnnnnnd, he had poofed away, great.
“So you wanna talk about what you’re doing?” Luke asked, smugly.
“I don’t know, you wanna talk about where my crop top is?” you suggested.
“Don’t start wars you can’t finish y/n,” he playfully warned.
You smirked. “Funny how I told you the same thing and yet it appears that right now you are the loser,” you pointed out.
He arched an eyebrow. “We’ll see about that,” he retorted, and then poofed out.
You were gonna have to come up with more ideas if you wanted to win this, so it was back to the drawing board.

dancing on my own
request: Angst with no happy ending? How abt *insert actor/character* getting married and their ex (the reader) kinda 'forcing herself' to go to the wedding bc she really wants to see their mutual friends again but like doesn't wanna see the wedding. And reader just watching the love of their live get married and be happy with someone else and their heart silently being ripped apart? Too cruel?
pairing: ex!luke patterson x reader
word count: 2.1K
warnings: heartbreak, no happy ending
a/n: here you go cruel anon. turns out im not that great at heartbreak but hopefully this makes your heart crack a little bit. (also idk if people read authors notes but my requests are currently closed!)
Y/N thought back on all the times she could have turned around. When she was getting into her car. When she reached the airport. When she queued to board the plane. When she checked into her hotel. When she began to get ready. Now she was facing the very last time she could turn around. Stood outside the venue, all dressed up with no one to walk her inside. But just like the times before, she didn’t turn around, she pushed on. Her heart breaking a little more with each step, she knew that surely by the end of the night there would be nothing left but crumbs. She had promised herself two things before this trip. Number one; she would not speak to him. Number two; she would not cry. She wasn’t entirely sure she would be able to keep either of the promises to herself, but repeating them in her head made her feel that little bit calmer.
She situated herself beside a table lined with drinks, helping herself to a flute of champagne. She was anxious for the doors to be opened so she could find a seat, somewhere in a corner at the back would suit her just fine. Out of sight of anyone who would surely recognise her, she had no intentions of engaging in conversation until the reception. But seeing as what was happening today she should have known it would be her unlucky day.
“Well aren’t you a sight for sore eyes,” a voice speaks beside her and she turns, landing eyes on someone she had not seen for far too long. His suit was tailored perfectly to his body, his long hair tied in a bun at the back of his head. “I wasn’t sure you’d come.” He pulls her into a hug.
“I wasn’t sure I would either,” she admits as she pulls away, “I wasn’t going to, but I wanted to see everyone...most people.”
Willie laughs softly, “I’m glad you’re here, sit beside me?” He asks, motioning with his head towards the doors that were being pulled open.
“Oh, I was just gonna sit in the back,” she stumbles over her words as Willie takes ahold of her hand, “Aren’t you going to sit with Alex?”
“He’s preoccupied.” Willie states simply, ignoring her protests as he pulls her towards the front of the room to take a seat in the front row.
She sighs as she sits down beside him. The sick feeling in her stomach growing as the room slowly became more and more full, people lining up on the benches and getting ready to watch the ceremony.
Willie reaches down and takes ahold of her hand again, giving it a light squeeze and offering a comforting smile, “You don’t have to stay.” He whispers.
“I do.” She nods, “I want to see everyone, I won’t stay all day but I need to at least say hello now I’m here.”
Willie nods his head, squeezing her hand one last time and patting her knees before turning back to face forward, the ceremony would be starting any minute and she found that her eyes were glued to the pattern on the floor.
For the entirety of the ceremony she didn’t look up. She didn’t want to risk meeting his eyes, didn’t want to see her friends sympathetic looks and definitely didn’t want to see the bride looking beautiful in her white dress. She tried her best not to listen, she couldn’t stomach hearing the vows and knew if she heard the words I do in his voice she’d cry. So she thought about anything else but what was happening in front of her.
She finally looked up when the couple was safely past her line of sight, eyes instantly meeting that of an old blonde friend. He gave her a wave, she was sure the smile was supposed to make her feel better but she just felt more pathetic. Why was she even here? She’s sure the invite was out of politeness and not an actual invitation to come. And if her friends were going to be tiptoeing around her and treating her like a porcelain doll she wasn’t sure she could cope. The nicer people were to her about this the more likely it was she would break down.
She didn’t want to think about it, about him, sure she was at his wedding but that didn’t mean this day had to be about him. She wanted to have a catch up with her friends, avoid her ex the whole night and then go back home, cry with a bottle of wine and forget this whole thing ever happened.
“I’m glad you came.” Alex says as he reaches her, pulling her into a hug, “It’s good to see you.”
“Yeah, it’s good to see you too.” She responds truthfully, “Can we go to the reception? I think I need a drink already.”
Alex laughs, taking Willies hand in his own and leading the way towards the after party. The amount of people that were there she was sure she would be able to avoid the groom for the night. She found herself situated on a table with her friends, helping herself to a glass of wine and making sure the bottle was kept close to her.
No matter how excited she was to see her friends she found that now she was here she was finding it hard to hold a conversation. The group around her were still familiar with each other, still seeing each other and having things to talk about, she felt a little like a spare part. But still she smiled along and listened to their conversation. Something about a recent party they had attended where Reggie had drank a little too much, she laughed along with them unsure of what else to do. The more they spoke and tried to involve her in the conversation the more she realised she didn’t really know the people around her anymore. Sure she had good memories with them and she would always consider them her friends, but she didn’t really know them.
The best thing about weddings it that you can be invisible if you wanted to be. The bride and groom were always busy, everyone wanting to talk to them and congratulate them, and the drunker the guests got the easier it was to slip away from conversations and merely watch the scenes unfold. Which is exactly what she did. She watched her friends get drunk and progressively louder, not noticing anymore if she wasn’t joining in their conversation. If the night continued this way she was certain she would make it out in one piece.
She thought she was doing a pretty good job of avoiding the one person she feared seeing the most. But halfway through the night a hand landed on her shoulder and a familiar scent filled her nose. She felt her skin ignite where his fingers touched and she begged the butterflies in her stomach to go away, to fly away and disappear forever.
Turning in her seat she finally meets his eyes for the first time that night, forcing a smile onto her face as she stands up and allows him to pull her into a hug. Her heart hammers in her chest and she uses every ounce of will power within her to not shed any tears, she felt the epitome of pathetic. Wanting to cry at a wedding like she was in a bad romcom movie. Only if this were a movie she’d get the guy, or a second guy would come sweep her off her feet and make her forget the first one was ever there. She didn’t see that happening anytime soon.
“Thanks for coming.” Luke smiles, “You look great, that colour really suits you.”
She returns his smile with a tight lipped one of her own, “Thanks, you don’t look too bad yourself.” She attempts a light hearted laugh.
She looked away, she couldn’t stand looking into his eyes any longer, his gaze intense and stirring way too many different emotions inside of her. She wanted him to be horrible to her, to tell her to leave and never come back, not to tell her she looks great. How was she ever supposed to get over him when he was nothing but nice to her all the time. She wished he had done something at the end to allow her to hate him. Cheat on her maybe, or tell her he never loved her, then maybe she’d stand a tiny chance of getting over him and moving on with her life. Instead he was selfish and kept her at arms length because he knew he always could and that should have been enough for her to stay away, but she just couldn’t.
“Congratulations,” she looks back at him, eyes settling just above his to avoid his gaze, “You seem really happy, I wish you all the best.”
“Thanks,” he smiles and it’s genuine, something which breaks her heart a little more.
Of course she wants him to be happy, but a bigger part of her wants him to be happy with her and not anyone else. She knows that’s selfish, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to wish it into existence no matter how futile she knows it is.
“Have you met Jess?” He asks, placing a hand on her shoulder as though about to lead her somewhere.
“Oh, no I haven’t but she looks busy,” she quickly shrugs his hand off, the bride she could see from the corner of her eye, laughing at something another guest had said, “I’ll introduce myself later.” She lies.
The only thing she could think that would be worse than this wedding was having to actually meet the bride. To meet her replacement, the better version. The one who had stolen his heart and been worth enough to keep it forever. She forces a smile and excuses herself to the bathroom.
As she reaches the bathroom she can feel her eyes stinging, shutting herself in a cubicle she fans her face, determined not to let a single tear fall. She had made a promise to herself and the least she could do was keep it. She leant her head back against the door, letting out a shaky breath to compose herself.
Once she was sure she wouldn’t cry she exited the bathroom again, thankful to see that he was no longer at the table she had just ran from. She took her seat and no one asked where she had been or if she was okay, she was glad for that at least.
As the night wore on she thought she was doing okay, one little hiccup but no tears since, she’d even found herself genuinely laughing at a couple points. He’d spoken to her and she hadn’t thrown up on his shoes, he had no reason to try and speak to her again.
But then it was time for the first dance and she felt her chest tightening. Her calm composure being over taken by a sinking feeling of dread. She watched for a minute, watched him hold her close and smile. Watched him lean in to kiss her gently before spinning her under his arm and pulling her back in. She wished more than anything that it was her in his arms, her who he still looked at like the world shone behind her eyes. But it would never be her again, and his bride she was sure was far more beautiful than she could ever hope to be.
She watched as more dancers joined the floor, her friends among them. She tried to smile, but the sight was too much for her. Her friends laughing and dancing with their loved ones while she sat on the side lines and watched feeling like a stranger. The slow music a melancholy soundtrack to her emotions, reminding her of something she could never have.
She stands from the table, dragging her eyes over each person she knew, lingering on Luke for a moment longer before she turned and walked out of the room. She knew that this would be the last time she ever saw him, because she knew seeing him happy with someone else would be a slow form of torture. So she walked away, from him, from her friends forever, leaving whatever little pieces were left of her heart behind. By the time she exited the building she felt nothing more than a hollow shell and she finally let the tears fall.

I sighed getting out my car unprepared for tonight's events. My best friend Savannah invited me to a game night with some of her co-stars from her new show on Netflix. They were nice people I visited on set a couple times when they were shooting in LA and got along pretty well with most of them. Well all except one. Jeremy. Jeremy Shada.
Flashback
I frustratedly walked towards Savannah's set beyond pissed. I was visiting my best friend on set today when I anonymously received photos from an unknown number. After 2 hours of sitting in her trailer I had just confirmed that my now ex boyfriend had been cheating on me and to make it worse it was with someone who I though was my friend. I finally reached the location she was filming at watching as she spoke to the director who was probably giving her instruction. She threw a glance at me realization hitting her what we had suspected since I got the pictures was true. I stood back as she said something to the director before making her way towards me.
"Did you talk to him?" She asked.
"Yeah. He admitted it to me. He straight up told me he cheated on me" I said on the verge of tears.
"He's such an asshole" She whispered pulling me into a hug.
“I know. I just don't know what I'm gonna do Savannah. I live with the man for fucks sake" I sobbed pulling away.
"Well for starters your moving in with me"
"I can't do that Sav, our lease isn't up for another 2 months"
"Your not staying with that jerk for 2 months y/n. Over my dead body am I gonna let my best friend stay in the same apartment with such a pig" She said getting ticked off. I sighed knowing there was no point in trying to argue right now when I was filled with too many emotions to count. I simply nodded fidgeting with my fingers.
"Go wait for me in my trailer. I almost done with this scene then I'm done for the day. After that we can go pick up some clothes then head over to mine for a breakup ritual"
"You really think that'll fix this?" I asked letting another tear slip out.
"No but it'll sure help. We'll order takeout, paint our nails, and have a high school musical marathon"
"Your just saying that because you can't wait to drool over Zac”
"Well yeah but your gonna be doing the same"
"Fair enough" I said smiling at the girl.
"See you in a bit k?"
"Okay" I smiled walking away.
I was walking back the route I came from when I received a message.
"You know we don't have to stop it here if don't want to😏" I read aloud making anger boil in me. He's such a fucking Asshole.
I groaned in frustration suddenly feeling myself collide with something hard.
“What the fuck!?" I cried holding my forehead. I looked up realizing I had just collided with an opening door.
"Oh my god are you okay?"
"Do I look okay? Are you fucking serious?"
"Look I'm sorry but you don't have to be such a dick about it" The person spoke. I finally looked up seeing a guy around my age who looked awfully familiar but I couldn't place my finger on it.
"I'm the dick? You hit me with a fucking door"
"Look I said I'm sorry" He said sticking out a hand to help me up. I was so fed up with men today. I scoffed standing up on my own.
"I don't need your help. Just watch where your going next time"
"It's not my fault. I didn't know anyone was gonna be passing by"
"So it's my fault I just got knocked to the ground by an opening door?" I shouted holding the part of my head that was now throbbing.
"W-well n-"
"You know what save it! I'm tired of men today I'm tired of everyone" I said passing by the dark haired guy bumping his shoulder in anger. That guy ended up being Jeremy Shada. Savannah's cast mate. And now my worst enemy.
“I brought lasagna” I announced to the group of people who were in the living room. Specifically Charlie, Savannah, Sacha, Owen, Jadah, Tori of course, and unfortunately enough Jeremy.
“Yes!” Sacha shouted with excitement. I giggled putting down the dish in the kitchen going over to greet everyone.
“Hey Charles!”
“How you doin?” He smirked making me laugh.
“I’m doin good baby. How you doin?” I played along. Recreated one of my favorite scenes from friends.
“This is why I love you! You get me!” He shouted pulling me in for a hug.
“Hey Owen. Sacha” I greeted the two boys with a hug.
“Y/n! We missed you the last couple weeks on set”
“Owen you were shooting in Vancouver”
“I know we just really missed you. Savannah was no fun”
“I was fun!” The girl shouted form the kitchen.
“What he means is we missed our biggest cheerleader” Tori corrected.
“I am great aren’t I?” I jokingly flipped my hair on my shoulder earning laughs from around the room.
“I beg to differ” Jeremy’s voice spoke making me roll my eyes.
“Seriously? I just got here and your gonna start?” I asked looking at him.
“Hey! Guys! It’s game night let’s chill out tonight” Charlie tried to reason shuffling the uno cards in his hand.
It wasn’t the first time he or any of the other cast tried to talk me and Jeremy down but sometimes his side comments got to me so much that I’d burst. God I hated his luscious dark hair. And his snarky little smirk. And his beautiful brown eyes. And his adorable dimples.
“Charlie’s right” I spoke calming down.
“It’s game night. I’m with my friends and nothings gonna ruin that. Even you Shada”
“It was ruined the moment you stepped in”
“Man chill out” Owen said placing a hand on Jeremys shoulder. I watched as the two small talked on the side before turning my attention back to the rest of group.
Internally groaning I took a seat in between Jadah and Savannah who had finally made it back to the living room.
“Glad to see your lasagna didn’t come out burnt” Savannah said making me let out a giggle. Referring to the first time I tried baking lasagna.
“Sav that was one time and it was an accident”
“I can think of other things that were an accident” Jeremy said my eyes going wide. Gasps filling the room.
“Dude yo chill out”
“That’s low even for you Jeremy” I said standing up and making my way down the familiar hallway. I reach a room I recognized as Toris. Locking myself in. I began to cry sitting down on her bed in the center of the room.
That was it. Those were the words that finally triggered me.
Flashback
“Your a drunk! Can’t even take care of your own daughter!” “She was a fucking accident!” “You don’t mean that daddy” I cried holding my chest to my knees. Drowning out the voices of my parents fighting. Wanting anything. Anything to happen that would get me out of this house. But nothing did.
My thoughts were cut off by a sudden knock on the door.
“Who is it?” I questioned wiping the stray tears that had escaped.
“It’s me”
“Who’s me?” I asked sniffling.
“Jeremy”
“Go away you fucking prick”
“Can we talk? Please” He pleaded confusion hitting me. Why would he want to talk to me? Why now?
I made my way toward the door slowly unlocking it.
“What do you want?” I asked moving back onto the bed.
“I wanna apologize. Savannah told me about your parents. She also said if I didn’t cool it she’d have my head” He said moving slowly to sit beside me on the bed.
“Yeah. She’s a sweet girl but she’ll have your head in seconds” I tried to joke only to have more tears fall down my face.
“Look I’m really sorry for acting like such a jerk”
“A dick” I corrected him earning a chuckle from the guy.
“A dick. I’m really sorry”
“For the sake of our friends outside. I guess I’m sorry too. Sav always talks about how much of a great guy you are but I never actually got to know you. I honestly I don’t know why I always went out my way to attack you”
“I do” He spoke. My head cocking to the side in confusion.
“I mean I know why I always acted like that”
“And why is that?”
“Maybe it was to conceal the big fat crush I had on you since the moment I laid eyes on you”
“What?” I questioned looking him in the eyes.
“Don’t make me say it again. Look I’ve acted like such an ass especially lately. But every time I see you I just remember the first time we met. How beautiful you were. But then we interacted. And now I realize how terrible I really was. Then the way you reacted didn’t help the situation. I mean it looked like you weren’t having the best day and I made it worse. And guilt has been eating away at me ever since but I could never bring myself to apologize because of my stupid pride”
“Your pride is pretty stupid. But your face makes up for it” I spoke with a nervous smile.
“Was that a compliment?” He teased.
“So what if it was? What are you gonna do about it Shada?”
“Well for starters.....I’m gonna take you on a date. A proper date. Maybe to the beach. We could have a picnic. Make a day out of it. The I’ll drive you back to yours and Savannah’s. We’ll walk hand and had up to your door. We’ll make casual small talk about how great it was. Then I’ll say we should do this again sometime and you’ll agree of course. Then I’ll lean in at the last second and....kiss you”
He said our bodies seemingly to have gotten closer within the period he had begun talking to now.
“Why wait?” I whispered finally looking straight at him to see him already looking at me.
We gazed into each other’s eyes until our lips met in the middle. The kiss was short but sweet. We finally pulled away looking down I watched as he intertwined our fingers. Smiles plastered on both of our faces
This was it. No more backhanded comments. No more glaring at each other from across the room. No more uncomfortable tension in the air.
It was me and Jeremy.

hello everyone, I return with more angst, this time, Willex!
As The World Caves In
Words: 2,554
Summary: 90s Alive AU where Sunset Curve performed in the Orpheum and are now rising stars. Alex and Willie have met and began dating shortly after the show. Around a year of their relationship, Willie falls seriously ill, and Alex is there to support him.
Disclaimers:
The boys are all around 18, as this is set a year after the orpheum performance where they were all 17.
The boys did not die in this AU, merely just had a bad case of food poisoning.
As this is set in the 90s, Flynn, Julie, Nick and other characters do not exist.
This is based on the assumption that Willie was also alive and 17 in the 90s.
I do not own any of these characters, however both Willie and Alex's parents are my own interpretations.

Alex looks at Willie's face, and smiles weakly. Willie looks...weaker, than usual, and was clearly trying to put on a brave face for his much loved boyfriend.
"How do you feel today?" Alex asks, gently.
"...Better, I think." Wille replies, sheepishly.
"Willie, you don't have to pretend you feel okay, you know that, right?" says Alex.
"...You're right...well then, my chest hurts when I breathe, and I feel constantly tired. The other day, Reggie brought me in food that his mom made specifically for me, and it looked great and it smelt divine, but I couldn’t muster the appetite to eat it. He just looked so...disappointed, Alex."
Alex sighed, and took Willie's hand.
"He understands though. It's...it's harder on you, and we both know Reggie would never hold it against you."
"I know just-" Willie begins coughing violently mid sentence, "...Sorry. But it's just, I hate feeling so...useless, y'know? I want to get out and function like a normal person, but even getting out of bed winds me for the next hour, never mind walking out of here."
Willie looks at Alex. His eyes are so...tired looking. Alex's heart breaks a little more at the sight. Willie's eyes, the eyes that were always so bright and full of life looked so dull now. His face which always bore a smile, so...gray looking, skinnier. Even his arms which Alex loved to be held in were weaker. And yet he was still the man Alex loved, and would continue to love.
"Willie...I...look, you just..." Alex stammers over his words.
"Hotdog. It's okay. I know you're worried, but really, I'll be okay. I'm doing better than I look, the doctors say so. And lord knows they're being paid enough to tell the truth."
Alex laughs weakly. Willie still has his sense of humour. That has to be good, right?
Right.
A nurse enters the room to inform Alex that visiting hours end soon. Alex nods, and says he'll be out in a bit.
"You have to go?" Willie says sadly.
"...Yeah. I do."
"...You'll be back tomorrow though, right?"
"Of course. Of course I will."
Alex kisses Willie gently on the forehead.
"Is that it?" Willie says, a smirk on his face.
"Oh- Uh-" Alex stammers as his face turns bright red.
"You don't have to, you know? I was teasing."
"No- I- I just wasn't expecting to hear it. But since you asked," Alex leans in, "sure, that's not all."
Alex kisses Willie passionately, moving one hand to Willie's shoulder, and the other running through his hair. Willie pulls Alex in closer in suit. The two break apart, both smiling wide.
"That certainly wasn't all then." Willie laughs.
"What a 'bye for now', huh?" Alex says, his face still red from his moment of bravery.
"For now," Willie says, pausing for a second "I love you, Alex." he adds.
Alex stares at him for a second, unsure of what he just heard.
"...I love you too, Willie."
A few months later, Alex is visiting Willie again. Willie is still hesitant to admit it, but with his recently shaved head and the numerous more machines beeping and such around his bed, it is clear to Alex that his condition is worsening.
"Stay still, will you? I don't want to nick you." Alex says as he slowly, carefully, shaves the recently appeared stubble on Willie's face.
Willie does not reply but does become more still, merely watching Alex as he shaves his face with such care.
"There. Feel better?" Alex asks as he prepares to shave Willie's head.
"...Yeah." Willie says, hoarsely.
"I'm gonna help you sit up now so I can get your head, okay?"
"Sure." Willie says. As Alex helps him sit up, he starts coughing again. When he moves his hand away from his mouth, there are a few drops of blood. He makes hesitant eye contact with Alex, who, aware that Willie doesn't want to be made a fuss over, merely cleans his hand and sighs softly.
As Alex lathers his head with shaving cream, Willie starts to cry softly. When he notices, Alex stops, cleans off his hands, and sits on the bed beside him.
"Willie...what's happened, dear?"
"They, uh...they told me the results of my scan yesterday. The lung cancer...it's progressed. It's spread to my kidneys now. Alex...they uh, they aren’t giving me long to live."
Alex's shoulders slump in defeat. All the fighting...all the effort and the pain. Willie even lost his hair trying to fight off cancer and...for nothing. Alex stands up, wordlessly, and begins to shave Willie's head.
"So, you're just...saying nothing?" Willie says, a tangible note of hurt in his voice.
Alex bites his lip to stifle a sob. He can't cry in front of Willie right now. Willie is the one who's allowed to cry right now. He keeps shaving.
"Alex. Please. Say something...anything."
Alex lets out a sob, and immediately he feels Willie tense up.
"Alex-" Willie starts as he tries to turn around.
"No, please. Just...just let me finish shaving, please." Alex says, his voice breaking slightly.
Willie turns around again, facing away from Alex, and lets him finish shaving his head.
When visiting hours end that evening, Alex hugs Willie as tight as he can without hurting, and pats Willie's back as he sobs and yells into Alex's shoulder. He says it'll be okay, he tries to comfort him, but they both know this can't possibly ever be okay.
Alex is in a mall with the other three boys. In front of them is a case of rings. A jeweller walks over to them.
"Ah, you're-"
"Sunset Curve! Tell your friends." cuts in Reggie. The boys laugh.
"...Yes. My daughter loves you, she's booked tickets to your next tour."
"Ah! A fan! Or...well, rather a parent of a fan." Says Luke, excitedly.
"Indeed. Well, how may I help you boys today?"
"Well, uh, we're looking for a ring." Alex says.
"I think, if you follow me this way, you'll find more what you're looking for? This is the...engagement ring section."
The boys look at her blankly.
"Oh. Well, someone's a lucky girl-"
"A lucky boy, actually." They correct her, all looking towards Alex, who currently looks rather sheepish. The jeweller makes an "oh" face.
"Well then, Mr. Mercer? I think this ring right here will be perfectly suited."
She points to a silver band.
"We do ring engraving too, if that's your thing."
Alex looks at the boys. They smile at him and nod, already knowing what he's thinking.
Willie and Alex's parents crowd into the small hospital room. All four of them look ecstatic, an odd sight for a room with a dying man in it. Outside, Luke, Reggie and Bobby are fighting to get a good look.
"Alex, love...what on earth are you doing?"
Alex laughs, his hands shaking behind his back. He looks to his parents, who nod, then Willie's, who smile at him. He gets down on one knee beside the hospital bed.
"Willie, I have loved you since the day I met you backstage at the orpheum. I have loved you since you looked after me during the aftermath of that nasty ass hotdog, and I have loved you since you stayed by me when I came out."
Willie looks at him, unsure of how to react to what he's hearing. Alex brings out the ring box from behind his back.
"I know that we can't legally get married. And I know that it will never feel properly real because of that. But Willie...if I could..." Alex trails off.
"...Go on." Willie says, quietly.
"Willie...I- Will you marry me?"
The energy from the couples' parents in the corner of the room is electric.
"Of course, Alex. Of course."
Alex breathes a sigh of relief and stands up to give Willie the ring. The boys cheer and whoop from outside the room, before being shushed, because people are dying here.
"Alex...did you- did you get a hotdog engraved on this?"
Alex smiles slightly.
"I love it. I fucking love it." Willie says, as he lets Alex slide the ring onto his finger.
"And look," Alex says, pulling out his own counterpart ring from his pocket "mines has a skateboard."
Willie laughs, the first genuine laugh he's had in a while, but then in a snap back to reality, begins coughing harshly, and both Alex and his parents rush to hold him, and wipe his face of the blood spatters.
The rest of visiting hours are spent sneaking the boys a toast of champagne - for they know Willie won't live to 21 - as well as sharing baby photos and many, many congratulations.
Days later, Willie signs a deed poll to change his surname to Mercer. Both Alex and Willie reason it's as close as they'll ever get to marriage.
A month later, the nights get colder faster now, and Alex notices it more than he ever has as he speeds to Willie's hospital at 11 at night. As his listed emergency contact, the hospital have contacted him as well as Willie's parents. Alex is trying desperately to calm his breathing to concentrate at the wheel before he causes an accident, to little aid, as his vision is blurred by tears anyway.
He doesn’t even lock his car doors as he bolts to Willie's room. He can hear multiple doctors in the room, all discussing what's and how's and when's. Alex begs them for information but as he's neither the patient, a (legal) spouse, or a next of kin, they can tell him nothing. When Willie's parents arrive shortly after, they are informed that Willie has went into kidney failure, and as his cancer has already metastasised, a transplant would only delay the inevitable, information they immediately relay to Alex. The doctors give Willie a few hours at most.
Alex cries quietly at Willie's bedside, holding his hand as he watches his chest rise and fall slowly. The doctors have put him on morphine, to make his passing easier, more comfortable on him. Willie's parents stand behind Alex, Willie's father placing his hand on Alex's shoulder as comfort.
"Son...do you want us to give you a minute?" Willie's father asks. Alex nods quietly.
When he hears the door click shut, Alex lifts his head to look at Willie.
"Willie..why'd it have to be you?" he says quietly, weakly as he cups Willie's face and his thumb strokes his cheek. This isn't how it should have been. They should have been able to grow up together, get old, maybe even someday, possibly, get married. They should have been able to hopefully adopt a few kids, to watch them grow up and become adults of their own. And yet here Alex sat, being robbed of his first, his only love.
Alex buries his head into Willie's hospital gown. He cries out when all he receives is the horrible, sterile smell rather than what he wanted, Willie's warm, wood-ish smell. He doesn't have Willie's hair to stroke, it was all shaved off when the chemo started making it fall out. He looks at Willie's face again. He looks so...fragile. Alex's heart is shattering and he doesn’t know if he'll ever put the pieces back together again.
Willie's parents enter the room again, hot drinks in hand, and Willie's equally distraught mother hand Alex a coffee with a weak smile. Alex sips it, and grimaces at the bitter, yet watery taste. Nonetheless he is thankful for the caffeine.
A few hours later, while Alex and Willie's parents are engaged in light conversation, Willie's heart monitor starts beeping loudly in an alarm. When the three of them look at the monitor, they can see that Willie is flatlining.
"No. No. No this can't- No!" Alex starts shouting. He grabs Willie by the shoulders and shakes him. "Come on Willie, please, no, not now, please-"
Doctors flood into the room, and Willie's father pulls Alex back out of their way. Alex struggles to get loose but eventually goes limp as he sinks to the floor to wail in grief. The doctors, unable to do anything due to Willie's D.N.R, stand to one side and turn off the alarm.
"Time of Death...1:32AM..." one of them says, flatly.
Days later, at Willie's funeral, Alex seems to have been cried out. Even as one of the pallbearers, Alex's face just remains blank, empty. He sits at the front, with Willie's family. He even comforts Willie's younger siblings with a hug as they cry. But Alex himself sheds not one tear. He just stares into the distance. He barely talks.
Willie's parents ask Alex to say a few words, and rather reluctantly, he agrees. As he walks up to the front of the small church in Willie's hometown, his hands start to shake and he feels a lump form in his throat.
He looks out at the crowd, herded into the very much packed church like sheep. He clears his throat.
"I...I have known- I knew, Willie, for around a year. I knew him before his diagnosis, when he could still do the things he loved," Alex's voice shakes, "like skateboarding...or helping people, helping me. Not many of you know this, but I loved Willie. I still do. His death doesn't feel real to me and I doubt it ever will. I will miss him dearly, as I'm sure you all will. Uh...thanks for listening."
Standing at Willie's grave site, it isn't raining. In fact, the sun is shining and the temperature is almost mild. Alex watches in silence as they lower his partner's body into the ground. As they begin to shovel dirt onto the coffin, Alex's facade that even he wasn't aware existed, begins to crumble, and he buries his head in his mother's shoulder and cries out, his tears soaking her nice black coat. He hears other people begin to sob, and had he felt up to it, he would have consoled them. But right at that moment, at that exact time, nothing mattered to him apart from the fact that his partner, the man he loved enough to want to marry, was dead, was gone forever and was never coming back.
Weeks later, Willie's parents ask Alex to come to Willie's grave with them. Alex, who had barely left his room since the funeral, reluctantly agrees, letting him pick him up in their minivan. They drive to the cemetery in silence, none of them have the words to talk with, until they're walking over to where Willie was buried.
"We know that we didn't ask you...but since it's his legal name, we had to use it for the headstone..." say Willie's parents.
Alex looks at them, unsure of what they mean. And then he sees the name on Willie's headstone. Willie Mercer. In some strange way, he never expected to see it anywhere so official, so permanent. He realises that Willie's parents are awaiting a reaction, but he blanks on what to do. The sadness of seeing his love's grave taints the small joy that is seeing his own surname on it.
"I- I- Thank you." He eventually stammers out, and Willie's parents pull him into a hug.
For the first time in a long time, Alex begins to feel that things might, eventually, be okay.

- “until you and Chad are officially done, I think we should keep our distance.” Varchie bones!!! you just KNOW that Archie has been looking forward to this because that man is whole heartedly in love with Betty and has been since forever and that while Chad prolongs the divorce papers, Archie will not be waiting for Veronica considering he doesn’t want her. Varchie = bones we love to see it!
- now who tf would join Penelope Blossom’s ministry… no one, realistically.
- can Cheryl stop being given the craziest and usually most boring plots ever please...
- Not someone holding a gun to Tabitha literally don’t hurt Riverdale’s best girl weirdo
- these bitches really haven’t aged huh…. poor Veronica though being robbed but like they stole some watches or something and the opal like that’s all you take..?? okay-
- Fangs 💞💞💞💞💞 also rip to him having to work with his ex tho
- STOP HAVING ARCHIE GO TO HIRAM WE’RE TIRED
- You know considering the whole reason why Hiram is still here as the villain and ruining Veronica’s life/growth to keep her in his plots al because Mark is a big soap opera celeb and apparently brings in money, you’d assume they would give him GOOD shit instead of everything he’s gotten. If they hadn’t of hired Mark can you imagine how much better off the show would be if they didn’t have to keep him around bc of his status????? God why-
- Reggie’s always there for Veronica muah…. oh fuck me I guess fjasjkdf
- “I work for one Lodge and it’s not you.” lmao okay??? you acting like that’s a flex, and that you’re working for the better Lodge who literally left you to die after the Serpents thought you shot Fangs so-
- MARTY BEING WHY REGGIE IS WORKING FOR HIRAM…….. YOUR DAD IS ABUSIVE LET HIM HANDLE HIS OWN DEBT??? God both Veronica and Reggie are always fucked over when it comes to their parents huh
- don’t you just love when they make characters act ooc for a plot ahhhhhh it’s totally fun to watch and totally not frustratingly annoying
- “FOR OLD TIMES SAKE.” 💞💞💞 we love Veggie even though they made Veronica act ooc and hurt him back then and they weren’t given an actual chance.
- “don’t be such a Betty” now why is Betty so surprised she only ever had fun when she was with Archie, when she’s with Jughead all she did was do what she wanted and order him around so likeefjhakdfh
- “he shouldn’t really be my problem anymore.” BUGHEAD BONES YASSSSS
- I know it was just a sound they used but like that squish sound when Darla kicked Tom’s face… did she like smash his face in damn what is this The Walking Dead?
- see the problem with them randomly bringing characters/parents in when they need them is that they’re never around so like no one really cares… like they could have utilized the parents so much (and Skeet and Marisol never would have left) and it would have been so much better than random appearances that make them look incompetent and awful parents because they’re never there during all the other times their kids need them. but we have to see the two toxic parents that won’t go away constantly??? literally what the fuck
- Betty calling Jughead’s writing cringey wbk she’s never liked his writing she was just stroking his ego bc she was his gf and had to be supportive lmaoo
- why are these 60+ year old men beating up Jughead like for why???
- so they just forgot that Tom was checking in on the convict huh gotta love dumbing down characters for plot!
- Fangs with his switchblade muah
- jealous Tabitha muahhh over a password
- “wait THE BETTY?"
- Cheryl looks so good
- Find meaning in his death… girl didn’t you not care that your husband killed your son over the illegal maple stuff I forgot the plot but it was something illegal and dumb
- “drain the vein” …...
- Reggie helping muah
- Why is Archie acting like an ass? like sure he doesn’t know that Chad is abusive and toxic but c’mon fucker you cheated on her and never apologized and you don’t even wanna be with her in the first place so why are you acting like you’re personally hurt sit down
- God Archie really hates Veronica huh… I don’t even blame him considering the shit she’s brought him into time and time again.
- Jughead was kicked like maybe five times yet he was fine falling out of a two story window and the serpent imitation but now he needs antibiotics..? plot convenience!
- literally don’t remember anything about Doc tbh or him talking to Donna and Bret like—
- ever since Negan people are obsessed with bats with barbed wire.
- also! yes please kill Hiram <3 I know they end up saving him bc of the opal but c'mon
- they searched basically nothing for five seconds wow such great detective work you guys!
- we know you just want his manuscript Jessica
- Cheryl with her rainbow skirt how cute!
- “daddykins” girl you’re like 25
- Veronica acting like she cares about Hiram fjsadhkfhas these guys thinking that they’d kill Hiram even though they need him lol
- bad bitch Ronnie we love her even though she’s gonna have to save her father to save others and get her opal </3
- not Veronica calling Archie first and not Kevin considering Kevin’s dad is there…. this is the pandering va fan service bs we have bc it makes no sense and it’s so forced
- Fangs knowing Archie rides with tools in his truck mmhm that’s a little sus idk how but archiefangs agenda coming through!
- no one would actually believe that Jessica ashkjdfsj and they take this bait…??? you gotta be joking lmao
- Jug got to help doc this time 🥺😭
- …. tell me why when he said boyfriend I immediately thought of Reggie I hate myself for wishing fahsdjkfsafj
- okay as cheesy and corny and awful the fight scene is since they posted a clip of it, them working together is so refreshing and nice we love leader!Veronica bc she’s so good at it. but the show only cares for Betty which is funny since she’s an awful detective fbahsdjfj
- my god enough with Jason’s body!!!!!!!!! you burned his body please let him stay dead let his body rest
- okay but the back and forth from Betty and Jessica is so good like I wish we could get that kind of rivalry drama type stuff all the time. too bad they refuse to let Veronica act like a normal person and get angry at being cheated on and such :/ when will Veronica slap the fuck out of Betty
- he’s not a blameless victim but Betty take responsibility for how awful a person you are PLEASE
- THE VOICEMAILLLLLLL Jughead only speaks the truth! it’s weird that he only realized what we all knew about Betty after but whatever, finally he gets upset like damn. also jeronica crumb he’s the only one to ever include Veronica smh ALSO Cole acted the fuck outta this voice mail muah
- the way Betty just sits there uncaring… she really is a freak huh god when will someone punch her in the face and take her ego down a million notches she’s so annoying
- “that’s darkness.” …?? what?
- the way bh’s relationship parallels jughead’s with Jessica though. the unhealthy habits, the bad energy, etc. except Jessica left it and Betty didn’t and it turned Betty into whatever the fuck this is. I miss s1 Betty :/
- so when will they sue Jessica for drugging them? mmhm probably never
- poor Tabitha being the only one who cares about jughead tho
- oh no I forgot there was a random musical number…
- you’re gonna have Betty and Tabitha act like THAT and not put them together so rude
- when will Cheryl be free from her mom. is was like turned on by abuse or something sigh why do the toxic (and most boring!) parents get plots and screen time and everyone else doesn’t...
- Veronica would be able to do Moree than pepper spray but whatever only Betty is allowed be “badass"
- fangs being fangs ugh so sexy my babyyyyy
- Trevor Stines is so attractive it’s a shame they only bring him back for five seconds to traumatize Cheryl over and over again though </3
- wow varchie in a pop’s booth what season is this again??
- god it’s so upsetting how amazing varchie would have been as just friends…
- the way he smiled at Veronica was so contradicting to the blank, “please don’t” expression when she was telling him she was gonna get divorced as fast as possible. why can’t he just admit he doesn’t want to be with her!!!!!! my god they’ve put off barchie long enough just let them be together so their characters can finally act in character and stop being so awful and annoying
- “this cause” what cause you fucking weirdo
- not Hiram threatening the mayor he could literally be your downfall if we had good writers fjasdkjfasf
- jughead how would you have killed him with a small wooden basket
- I like doc so much but I know we’ll never see him again until we randomly need him seasons from noow
- Betty wasn’t hit by the drugs until after the message though… how would she not remember? it didn’t seem to be doing anything to Betty until the bunker
- hopefully since they’re friends now Tabitha can make Betty act like a decent human being <3
- the way Tabitha looked at Betty please stop doing this to me...
- maybe we can finish that dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jabitha rising bughead dying we love to see it!
wow that episode felt like it was two hours long but thankfully I finally finished it… don’t have many actual thoughts but anyways hope you enjoyed my live blog of my thoughts!

Was tagged by @merihn to do this ask game, but Tumblr is being a butt and won't let me reblog it, so here's my answers:
1. Favorite scene?
The chemistry scene from Edge of Great, hands down. Though that whole episode is my favourite one of the entire show.
2. Favorite character when you started the show?
Reggie! So I actually started watching the show because one of the Glee blogs I follow started reblogging gifs of JatP, and I recognized Jeremy in them. I am a big Adventure Time fan, so I figured I'd check this out, and latched onto him because he was familiar.
3. Favorite character now?
Still Reggie! I just adore my dumb ball of sunshine so much. He's so pretty, and talented, and I just wanna hug him. I mean, I love all the other characters too, but not of them captured my heart the way that Reggie fucking Peters did.
4. Favorite ship when you started the show?
I will admit, on my first viewing, when we got to the scene in Stand Tall where Julie and Luke are cupping each others faces, my brain was screaming "Now Kiss!" Of course, I think on second viewing, my brain was also screaming that after the aforementioned chemistry scene.
5. Favorite ship now?
After watching the show, I think I immediately went to AO3 in search of fanfic. I liked Luke with both Julie and Reggie, and I hate love triangles, so I wondered if there was any fics with all three of them together. Between Jay's stepping stones verse and the masterpiece that is there's a fire burning in my bones by @breakaway71 I was hooked. Rukebox/PeterPatterLina became my OT3, I jumped on that train and I never really looked back.
Of course, between you and Katie, I also hopped aboard the Rulie canoe, and I just ADORE them as well. Ruke/PeterPatter and PolyPhantoms are also enjoyable, but the other two are MY OT3/OTP.
6. Favorite song when you started the show?
It was a tie between Edge of Great and Bright. I just loved them both so much, they made me smile and even sometimes, very poorly sing along.
7. Favorite song now?
I think Bright has overtaken EoG, but just by a hair. And even if those are the songs I like best, I can admit that the best song of the series is Unsaid Emily. It won an Emmy for a reason y'all.
8. Month you first watched jatp?
February! I was super late to the party, and I have been obsessed ever since. My word count on AO3 has gone up ~280k, and I'm hoping to hit 300k+ by the end of the year! I had no idea when I started watching this show just how much I would come to love it or how much it would utterly take over my life.
9. Favorite thing about the fandom?
You guys! I don't think I have ever felt so supported, encouraged, bolstered and loved in a fandom. I consider my Rulie canoe crew some of my dearest friends, I love how we always help each other, support one another, and don't let the nonsense get us down.
Honestly, before JatP is was incredibly rare for me to get screamed at in the tags, or have my own work quoted back at me in the comments, two of the greatest things ever. I have loved how creatively inspired I have been in writing for this fandom, but it's my little cheerleader squad that really keeps me going. I love you all so damn much.
10. Favorite thing about the show as a whole?
Do I have to pick? I mean I love almost all the songs, the story is so sweet, the found family is superb, everyone is so pretty and talented, and I just think this show has become my favourite thing so quickly, and I have no regrets about that. I just wish we knew when/if we are getting more, because I need more of this show like I need air.
Tagging anyone who wants to play!

What Myers-Briggs types do you think the main Trifecta characters would be?
Hmm. Well, I had a hard time settling one a single type for most of them, so I tried to find at least two for the six Trifecta “mains” - Paul, Reggie, Brandon, Conway, Barry, and Maylene.
(REALLY stretching it calling Maylene a “main”, especially since Chapter 13 is where she peaked; once Arc II happens, she’ll be in Out Of Focus territory for sure… buuuut she’s made her mark and a lot of readers take notice to her, so I threw her in)
Interestingly, I had no one pegged as INFP (Mediator/Idealist), which is where I fall in. Some characters fit half of it but I couldn’t justify the other half not befitting them (Paul and Conway were the partial contenders - and Brandon to a lesser degree… but Conway’s too charismatic and sociable, while Paul and Brandon aren’t deep thinkers to the point where they’re completely delusional like I am :P).
Paul - INTJ (The Mastermind) or ISTJ (The Inspector)
Safe to say if I had to pick one only, it would be INTJ. Definitely would sooner work alone than a group any day (and if Conway hadn’t been there for him like he’d been so much in Trifecta, this would likely still be the case for him - and Barry is more a result of Trifecta Paul’s character development). Much more comfortable doing things his own way and proving to the world he can handle himself. Even with Trifecta development, Paul still finds social activity a huge chore. Trifecta 21 has Paul go out of his way to be receptive to Conway’s friendliness, and it does take a toll on him physically and mentally. Also a master strategist, as per canon, and questions everything. And god help him if Paul is unsure of anything. It’s why he hates being indecisive in Trifecta; he believes even a wrong choice or a bad idea is better than none at all. And knowing his legendary levels of “patience”, he’s definitely not going to wait all day to find the right path.
With ISTJ… well, this was a Brandon contender, surprise surprise. Intimidating? Comes off that way. Serious? All the damn time. Formal, proper…? Well, he DOES respect his elders, for the most part. If he thinks you’re shit, he’ll treat you like shit, but Paul’s not nearly as eager to start shit as he was in his Trifecta youth. You can definitely say, either in canon or Trifecta, Paul’s a strong worker who follows his own moral code. For all his controversial shit, Paul has never once cheated or tried to take the easy way out. Now, he sure as hell isn’t PATIENT, and he doesn’t really put much stock in going out of his way to upholding social or cultural responsibility (especially the former). But Paul is typically quiet and reserved; while he’s prone to anger, he’s fully capable of keeping calm when he needs to. Even Trifecta Paul can pull this off unless he’s just physically about to break down. Often misunderstood? Ohhhhhh, yeah.
Reggie - ESFJ (The Provider) or ESTJ (The Supervisor)
ESFJ might actually be the lesser of the two here. Mostly because Reggie isn’t really an attention-seeker outside of his own family members. He doesn’t desire the spotlight; he just wants his daddy and lil bro to love and accept him! But Reggie IS an active young man, very social, way more thoughtful than he makes himself out to be, and totally IS the organizer for any family event that happens in the present-day and has been since his mother’s death. He’s the guy that everybody loves. It’s been a common theme in some AUs of his Trifecta persona where he ends up being one of the most popular kids in school with legions of girls who’d drop everything to date him and he just never notices.
ESTJ covers him more uniformly. Reggie doesn’t want to be the star of the show, but he does want to help and offer advice to absolutely anyone who needs it. And he checks out on the listed traits: honest, dedicated, dignified, and traditional. You could definitely see him as a role model (even if Paul doesn’t) and he’s a good fit for a leader role.
Brandon - ENFP (The Champion) or ENTJ (The Commander)
One of Brandon’s defining traits (that might’ve not been showcased in Trifecta yet since we’re not yet at the point where it’s mega-relevant) is that he will decide his own destiny and what path to take, damn what anyone else says. So there’s what wins him the ENFP brand. His intuition is pretty top-notch; terminal disease aside, Brandon can totally read Paul like a book even though he’s spent the better part of Paul’s life operating from a great distance and not really being around for his kid. He’s way more perceptive than most give him credit for, and though he’ll never admit it, Brandon does act on his feelings a lot. Even taking an overseas job shortly after his wife died while leaving his kids behind - he can say that’s solely because it was the best way to make up for the income difference, but really, it doubled as his desire to just remove himself from everything of Andrea’s influence. He had a harder time coping with her death than he’ll ever care to admit. Plus, Brandon’s unprofessional abandoning of his post that resulted in his return to Sinnoh? Totally impulsive. He also wasted no time making a detour to Reggie when Brandon learned he was in the hospital, so there you go.
With ENTJ, this correlates with Brandon’s leadership skills as head of the Kanto Battle Frontier, as well as being the head of his own travelling trifecta with Byron and Palmer. Ambitious is putting it mildly for Brandon, honestly. And while he can be a slave to his feelings at times, Brandon is more known for acting with cold, hard logic. He’s likened to Paul in Trifecta for a reason. Brandon’s all for challenging himself, not afraid to make the hard calls(as his sacrifice for Regigas proves), and hell no he cannot sit still.
Conway - INTP (The Thinker) or ENTP (The Visionary)
Well, Conway’s pretty damn easy to peg even if you didn’t take his Trifecta traits into account. INTP is Conway’s most well-known traits in a nutshell: absorbs info like a sponge, heavy on the logical, objective side of perspective… he plans, he hypothesizes, he observes, he analyzes, he theorizes, and he can pick up on details most others will overlook. Like, literally everything INTP applies to Conway. He’s the consummate INTP.
ENTP has many of these traits, as well. Only major point of contention is not enjoying small-talk, as Trifecta Conway especially is very much all for that… at least for the people he deems worthy of it. Barry, he might not be much up for the small-talk as he would Paul or Dawn. I wanted to make sure to at least add one E-type here since I think it should be emphasized that despite his many typical nerd qualities, Conway is very much extroverted even in canon. He’s one of the most extroverted intellectual characters I’ve ever seen, honestly. Canon and Trifecta Conway love going in-depth with their thought processes, and he is a lover of learning. Loyal and energetic are also listed traits here, which are definitely more prominent Trifecta Conway traits, but notable ones nonetheless.
Barry - ENFJ (The Giver) or ESFP (The Performer)
While I think we can agree Barry is more of a “live in the now” type than any other character listed here, contrary to the ENFJ type, the other traits fit Barry like a glove. Especially the “living in their imagination opposed to the real world” aspect. Holy shit that is very Barry. But he is idealistic, highly charismatic, outspoken… and in Trifecta, he’s proved to grow like a weed on characters who’d otherwise never associate with him, such as Conway and eventually Paul. Barry’s also much more of an optimistic individual compared to his future travel-mates and much less prone to letting bad shit get him down for any length of time.
ESFP speaks for itself. Barry’s the biggest spotlight whore of the Trifecta cast. Fun and livelihood are Barry’s core essences, and while he’s not the most considerate character to ever be around and thinking is secondary to everything, Barry isn’t a complete dick and will feel bad if he realizes he’s inadvertently hurt someone’s feelings. It may take him a while to understand that, but once he does, he’ll go out of his way to make you feel better. Barry doesn’t want to travel around with a couple of sad-sacks, after all. And while Barry’s an acquired taste who can and will rub people the wrong way… you know, compared to Paul and Conway, he’ll come off as the one most “normal” when it comes to people-persons. Barry’s aggressively extroverted, so even if it yields mixed results more often than he’d like, Barry will always go out of his way to connect with people.
Maylene - ISFJ (The Nurturer) or ESTP (The Doer)
Despite being one of the most developed characters among the gym leader category in the Pokemon anime, she is harder to peg down than the others. But IFSJ feels pretty accurate for her. Sensitive to the feelings of others could link to her identity as an aura-user… plus she was insecure enough to let Paul’s worlds wreck her shit. But she is extremely considerate of others, warm and kind-hearted, and bringing out the best in others is what she aims to do as gym leader. Considerate, loyal, unselfish? All fit Maylene perfectly. For a Fighting-type specialist and martial artist, she’s definitely a modest and gentle soul.
ESTP… I think Trifecta 13 proves how incompatible Maylene is with elaborate planning and handling shitloads of detailed instructions. If left to her own devices, Maylene definitely would have handled the issue in chapter 13 by directly confronting Saturn rather than trying her hardest to feign ignorance of his identity. She’s not hot-headed, but Maylene does far better winging it than adhering to something set out for her. Maylene does always strive to better herself, so she’s open to trying new things. While a little on the shy side, she enjoys being around people and she IS the head of her own damn dojo, so… there you go. While it’s a stretch to say she’s pragmatic or logical, she definitely comes off that way when you line her up with other characters of her type specialty and line of work. She is level-headed and down-to-earth, at least; I’ll say that much.
When you break it down, there are common carry-over traits between the two for everyone:
Paul solidly has Introverted, Thinking, and Judging in his set. Checks out.
Reggie always carries Extroverted, Sensing, and Judging.
Brandon is a sure bet for Extroverted and Intuitive.
Conway is a consummate Intuitive, Thinking and Perceiving man.
Barry is a lock for Extroverted and Feeling. Unsurprising.
Maylene only has Sensing as a consistent trait.
Well, that was more fun than I thought. Hope everyone else enjoys that!
