Down For the Count - Charlie Gillespie x Injured!Reader
Tumblr media
JATP cast masterlist
Requested: via these Injury/Hiking asks.
Warnings: Swearing I think, injury, falling/accident, hospital
Words: 2004
Summary: After a hard fall resulting in a bad injury, your boyfriend Charlie comes to the rescue to be your care taker at the same time as he has a Live with Owen.
A/n: A filled request? On my page??? It’s more likely than we thought! This one has been a long time coming (sorry act that). I have an exam coming up so I don't know how much I’ll write until then, but after I might have a shit ton of free time so I might be able to continue filling requests.
“What happened?” I hear Charlie practically screech upon seeing me sitting on the dull blue colored vinyl of the hospital examination table. He’s still dressed in his muscle tee, athletic shorts, and he’s got his hiking bag on his back, which lets me know he didn’t take it off as he sped over to the hospital.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” My emotionless assertion makes Savannah laugh. “I fell down a few stairs wrong and messed up my ankle pretty bad.” And luckily my phone was in my back pocket pre-fall. Knowing Charlie went with Chevel for a morning hike in nature with no service, Sav was the only other person close enough to my space of living to come scoop me up. I sat on the stairs for the solid 15 minutes it took her to drive over here, just waiting. The way I fell and the pain that came with it was unmistakably reason enough to not even try and stand. And I was right to do so because, after a standard hospital visit, I’d been informed that I had torn a ligament. Go me!
“Well, are you okay now? Is it broken? Are you okay to go home?”
“Charlie, I’m fine. It’s a mild tear, I just need to stay off it for a little while.” I gesture him closer mid-sentence so I can pull a leaf out of his long hair. He catches my hand in his as I release the lock of his hair.
“How long is a little while?”
“Six weeks most likely.”
“Six weeks?!”
“I’ll be fine, Charlie.”
“As much as I love you, I do have to leave so-” Savannah interjects Charlie’s moment of panic, whilst collecting all three items she had brought to the ER with me. “Charlie? Please keep an eye on her. Don’t let her try and tough it out like we know she will.”
“I’m fine, Sav.”
“You’re on crutches, Y/n.” She mimics my tone and inflection before double-checking with Charlie in a single look, and promptly exiting the hospital. I look at my hiking trail dust-covered boyfriend in annoyance but his face doesn’t waver from its determinedly firm expression.
“Do you need help off the table?”
“No, but I’ll probably need help getting into the car.”
“Yeah, no problem.”
__________________________
“Okay, you’ve got the remote, pillows, blankets, pain killers, water, a juice box, a healthy snack, an unhealthy snack, and a charger. That should be good, right?”
“It’s good. I’m sure it’s more than enough, Charlie. Thank you.” Charlie looks at me with a proud smile, knowing he’s doing his best to help me out. My confirmation is the last thing he needs before telling me that he has a Live to do, for the millionth time. It takes some reassuring that I’ll be okay if he resides in the room next to me, and eventually he leaves me alone.
I puff out a short breath as a symptom of convincing Charlie first and foremost, but second, the eventful day I’ve had all before 11 AM. Sitting in a static silence for a bit piques my curiosity as to what Charlie is doing, but it doesn’t last long and I reach for the tv remote. No time like the present to watch the newest show everybody’s raving about. Does anyone even care about Bridgerton anymore? Do I really wanna watch a series about homicide and Mormons? I figure it can’t hurt to watch something made by John Mulaney. Even if I’ve already seen it six times

When I open the program, I’m met with the Netflix logo which is far too quiet for me to hear anything. As I’m about to turn up the volume, I hear Charlie’s voice carry over from the next room.
“Y/n’s injured so I’m taking care of her for a little bit.”
“Wait, what happened?” That sounds like Owen’s voice.
“She fell and messed up her ankle real bad.”
Real bad. Yeah, that’s one way of putting it.
Returning my attention to the undetermined John Mulaney special, I hesitate for a minute before eventually choosing Kid Gorgeous and letting it play from the beginning. Although the special is still as entertaining as the first time I watched it, I find myself fighting sleep. Thankfully, I frontloaded my week with most of my responsibilities, so I can afford to take the day to myself. It is more of a need than a want, but still. I ultimately give in to my desire and let myself rest after the eventful morning. Sleep quickly consumes me in the best way possible where I’m not in so deep that I’ll wake up miserable, but still fully unconscious and resting.
When my eyes flutter open, I’m confused as to why I’ve woken up until I feel it. I drank all of my full water bottle and a juice box and I have to pee.
Fuck. What time is it? I haven’t been asleep that long, but it’s been long enough that the special is over and Netflix is hounding me to watch something else. Where is my boyfriend?
“Charlie?” I sleepily call into the abyss. It’s less than a second later that Charlie appears in the doorway, breathless from having sprinted from what sounded like the kitchen.
“Are you okay? I thought you were sleeping. How long have you been calling for me?”
“Shhh,” I attempt to simmer his worry, “I’m fine. Can you just help me get to the bathroom?” I set my good foot on the ground and attempt to stand, but my body, still not fully awake, nearly gives out on me whilst my vision is overtaken by a cloudy headrush. Charlie is by my side in an instant, catching me by pulling my torso into his more stable one.
“Hey, wait, you should just sit for a sec and give yourself some time to wake up-”
“Charlie, I have to pee so bad.”
“Okay, okay.” Despite verbally agreeing, Charlie doesn’t allow me to move any further. I look at him in confusion to see he’s eyeing the crutches on the floor by the arm of the couch. “Yeah, you’re not stable enough yet,” he says to himself, but our close proximity allows me to hear him anyway. Before I can process what’s happening, Charlie sweeps me up bridal style and begins carrying me to the bathroom.
“Your workout’s been paying off,” I mumble into the fabric of his t-shirt. The fool laughs lightly, his cool breath dusting the top of my head and his chest vibrating against me. It’s so comforting to be in his arms that I nearly fall back asleep on the way to the bathroom. Charlie notices and presses a kiss to my forehead to keep me awake.
“Hey. You gotta pee first and then you can go back to sleep.” I groan as a reply, causing him to laugh again. “Will you be okay moving around the space or do you need my help?”
“The bathroom is not that big, Charlie.”
“Okay, okay.”
My bathroom visit goes seamlessly, and the warm water of the tap wakes me up enough to talk to my hyper-cautious lover through the door of the bathroom.
“How was your Live?”
“It’s been good so far.” At his response I freeze for a moment, looking at my own reflection as if I’m face to face with Charlie.
“So far?”
“Yeah, Owen’s babysitting the Live right now.”
“You didn’t tell you were still on. I would’ve managed on my own.”
“I’m not gonna let my seriously injured girlfriend struggle her way through my house!” He cries, sounding legitimately offended, but knowing Charlie, he’s not being 100% sincere. I unlock the door and swing it open to find him pouting. He doesn’t speak again until after he scoops me back up into his grasp. “Do you want to go back to the couch or come sit with me or
?”
“Will you sit on the couch with me?” I feel him nod above me and feel my eyes begin to droop as they had on the way to the bathroom. Should I let myself sleep more? I want to be able to sleep tonight, but I’m still so exhausted that I’m convincing myself everything will turn out fine.
“Okay, let me go grab Owen and I’ll come sit on the couch with you.” A hazy smile rests on my tired features as Charlie sets me down on the sleep-inducing cushions of his couch. I can hear he’s already back after a quick second when Owen’s voice sounds through the speakers of his phone. To my surprise, he doesn’t sit down right away, and when I crack my eye open to investigate why, I’m met with Charlie staring down at me in awe. I don’t even need to ask what he’s thinking and the sheepish boy wordlessly takes his place on the couch next to me. He’s leaning back against the pillows he set up and beckons me to lay my head against his shoulder. Mindful of my pain, he helps me prop up my injured leg for elevation.
“Hey, Y/n!” I hear the familiar voice that I don’t have to open my heavy eyes to identify.
“Hi, Owen.”
“How you doin’?”
“I’m-”
“Hey, that’s my thing!” Charlie cuts me off to whine at his best friend.
“What?”
“Only I can ask Y/n ‘how you doin’?’” He says in the iconic Joey Tribbiani fashion. I exhale as much of a laugh as I can muster before resuming the conversation Charlie childishly interrupted.
“I’m doing alright. It’s only day one and life already sucks, but nothing is broken, so, could be better and could be worse.”
“I feel so bad for you.”
“Aww well, at least I have Charlie here to take care of me.”
“I feel so bad for you,” Owen pointedly parrots, earning a harsh glare from Charlie.
“You know what? If I had it my way, you wouldn’t be in this Live.”
“Don’t be mean!” I scold my nuisance of a boyfriend, gently tapping the back of my hand against his chest. Charlie grabs the offending hand and interlaces our fingers, bringing it up to place a sweet kiss on my knuckles.
“Siiiiiiiiimmpp!”
“You’re just jealous you’re all alone in Oklahoma.”
“Uhhh, correction: I have Eaton here for the week, so ha!” I roll my eyes at the childishness that is Owen and Charlie, but laugh all the same. It’s never-ending with these boys, and the chaos, though exhausting, is humorous more often than not. I’m happy to be with the boys again, but the harder it gets for me to keep my eyes open, the more I realize I wasn’t fully ready to be awake yet. As Charlie’s shoulder becomes the most comfortable spot in the world, I look at the two of us in his window on the Live to see he’s looking right back at me on the screen. He ignores the fact that I’ve caught him and absentmindedly lays his head on mine. The position only lasts for a brief second before he’s back to his animated self when Owen asks him a question.
My eyes fall heavier and heavier with each blink before they refuse to open. In and out, my breathing slows to an even draw and I can feel my weight slowly relax onto Charlie’s shoulder. It doesn’t seem to affect him at all as he sits off the back of the couch.
“Is she asleep?”
“I don’t know, let’s ask. Y/n, are you asleep?”
“Charlie, you’re such an idiot, leave her alone.”
I feel the infinitesimal pressure of his breath against the top of my head when he leans down to press a loving kiss to where my hair has parted on his shoulder. He then traces the knuckle of his index finger down the side of my exposed cheek before resuming his conversation with Owen about weird fan mail they’ve gotten. How I love this idiot.

DISTRACTED | Charlie Gillespie
Requested by anon: “5 times reader (girlfriend) is almost distracted by a shirtless Charlie and one time she actually is.” PAIRING(s): Charlie Gillespie x fem!reader WORDS: 1.6k WARNING(s): some charlie thirst, what’s new ;) SUMMARY: 4 times Y/N is almost distracted by her shirtless boyfriend and 1 time she actually is.
Tumblr media
0.
You pride yourself over the fact that you never get distracted, no matter what. But sometimes, just sometimes, you can’t help it.
Especially when your boyfriend looks like that.
1.
You sigh, running a hand through your hair. Your eyes feel as if they are burning, and the ever-persistent headache of yours seems to be particularly intense today.
Yet, pushing all that tiredness away, you keep typing, typing, typing. The deadline for your essay that carries twenty per cent of your grade of your final year of college is tomorrow, and you’ve still got three hundred words to write.
Three hundred words does not seem like a lot on any other day, but after three cups of coffee and seven hours of staring at your laptop screen, it feels like death. The fact that you seem to be in a rut right now doesn’t help, either.
You scrounge around your brain, trying to pull ideas from each fold, but it’s useless. Maybe it’s the exhaustion, or maybe it’s because of your boyfriend, Charlie, who has currently resorted to painting your toenails after not getting any sort of attention from you for the past few hours.
Ever since lockdown started, you and your boyfriend have been living together in your shared apartment in Toronto. You two have been planning to move in together for a while, but his work and your college always seemed to be obstacles. But this lockdown gave you both the perfect opportunity – plus, it was time, too. You two have been dating for more than four years – although, you’ve had a crush on him for as long as you can remember, but the intensity of it was realized only in the moment when he kissed you after an amazing prom together – you guys went together because you were best friends and loved being around each other more than anything. But the fact that there could be something more, something hidden in years of friendship seemed unlikely to the both of you before that day.
“Done.” He says, proudly. Your eyes leave your screen to look at the beautiful emerald colour on your toenails. You smile at him, and say, “That’s gorgeous, Char. Where’d you find it?”
He shrugs, a lopsided smile on his face. “It was in the bottom of your bag.”
You nod. “Right. I bought it the day before my last offline exam ended. I forgot.”
He smiles. “Now, will you pay me some attention?”
You purse your lips and pretend to be thinking. “Hmm
tempting, but no. I still have to get this done.”
He groans, dramatically. “You have been ignoring me for past hundred hours!”
You chuckle, ruffling his hair. “You’re so dramatic. It’s only been half a day. Now, go away. I need to finish this.”
He groans, again, and you wonder if he’s finally given up.
Instead, he rolls off the bed, and stands taller, leaning against the doorframe. “Y/N?”
You hum in question, as he makes a show out of taking off his T-shirt.
You bite your lip and remember how long it has been since you’ve run your hands on his chest. But you know that he’s doing this on purpose, to get a fraction of your attention. He knows and is proud of the fact that he has a hold over you, and the fact that even after four years, he still gives you butterflies over the slightest of smiles.
So, instead of giving in, you crawl under your covers with your laptop and decide to work there, as you suddenly gain inspiration, and thank yourself for not being distracted by your boyfriend’s absolutely beautiful body.
“Oh, come on!”
2.
The second time hit happens, it’s a Tuesday morning, and you’re giving an exam. Your laptop is in front of you, the face of your teacher and classmates filling your screen, as the sound of your pen scratching against your answer sheet fills the room.
You bite the end of your pen, pondering over a question when you suddenly hear your boyfriend’s voice. You look up, and notice him, shirtless, and talking on the phone to someone.
“Yeah, I mean, we could do that
” He says, and your eyes trail across his back, as he stares out the window on the wall opposite to you.
“No, Mom, we’re not gonna drive to Canada. I’m not that crazy!” He exclaims, and you arch your neck to get a better view of him, and the sweatpants hanging low on his hips.
“Sure, I can ask Y/N
” He says, and you quickly avert your eyes back to your paper, just in time to hear your teacher call out your name.
“Y/N? What are you looking at?” She asks, and you adjust your headphones, clearing your throat.
“I thought someone was at the door. Sorry, Ms. Harrington.” You’re painfully aware of the warmth spreading through your cheeks, and as she nods, you start writing again.
You hear Charlie whisper a ‘sorry’, and you smile at him – he thinks that the reason your teacher just called you out is because he was going to ask you something.
You don’t correct him – his ego doesn’t need to know the fact that you were almost distracted.
3.
Just one more question, you think. One more question, and you’re done with this semester.
But your mind is wandering, and the fact that you still have thirty minutes left doesn’t help. When this exam started, you thought that you wouldn’t be able to finish it in time and wrote as fast as you could, but now there’s plenty of time and just one, tiny answer left.
You rest your elbows on your desk and check on your classmates. Everyone is frantically scribbling, and you smile evilly at the fact that you’re not one of them right now.
“Honey? You have a minute?”
You hear Charlie from behind you. You nod, and say, “I’m listening.” You don’t turn back, since you have to keep an eye on your teacher. (She is knitting right now, for some reason.)
“You wanna go somewhere for the holidays?” He says, his raspy morning voice causing goosebumps to appear on your skin.
“I’m not sure
I mean we just came back from Maui last month – do you think it’s wise to go somewhere again?”
“Well, we’ll maintain social distancing, and use masks.”
“I’m not sure
”
“Come on, it’s our fifth anniversary!”
You finally look at him, and your breath catches in your throat. He’s shirtless, as usual. You mentally curse him as you think that you need to add ‘no being shirtless for no reason’ to your household rules. (Currently, you have three: one, no disturbing the other while working; two, following the chore chart; three, no spilling coffee or red wine on the white living room rug.) (The last one has occurred more times than one might expect.)
You focus on keeping your eyes trained on his, but you still struggle to form words. “I – not a wise idea
”
He grins, understanding the situation, as you avert your eyes back to your paper.
“Please, baby?”
You know he’s pouting.
“Fine.” You say, just to get him off your back.
“You’re the best!” He presses a kiss to your cheek and is instantly gone. As your mind still tries to hold on to the frayed strings of the warmth and the smell of his presence, you pray that your classmates didn’t notice the interaction.
4.
You smile at Charlie’s mother, who is talking animatedly on your phone.
“Then, I told Meg to get some sugar, but she bought salt instead, and to top that, she dumped the entire bowl into my batter! Now, it tastes like absolute shit!” She glares at Megan, Charlie’s sister, who smiles sheepishly from behind her.
You laugh. “Like brother, like sister.”
“You know it.” She says, her French accent thick.
“So, I was thinking
Maybe, after the holidays, we could fly back to Dieppe? It’s not like we’re gonna go to college any time soon, so –”
“Yes, please! I miss you guys so much. You know, last night –”
She starts to say something else, but your boyfriend is doing push ups in front of you, and it’s really, really, really hard to focus, especially when his body is glistening under the afternoon sun.
He seems to feel your gaze, and sharply turns towards you, while you quickly look back to his mother.
“–but the point is, I miss you two.” She finishes, while Megan nods. “Me too, sis. It’s so boring here without you two.”
You smile and can feel warmth in your stomach. “Of course. I miss you guys, too. Charlie’s so boring.”
“Hey!”
+1.
You exhale and close the lid of your laptop. “I’m done!” You yell, and Charlie instantly appears at the door, and runs towards the bed you’re currently seated on, and jumps atop.
“Finally! I missed you!” He says, wrapping an arm around your torso, pulling you closer.
“I missed you too, baby. But now I’m done with all my assignments, so I’m all yours for the next two weeks!” You sit on his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck.
He grins, and your eyes avert to his chest, but this time, you let yourself be distracted, because after weeks of sleep deprivation and pure torture, you deserve this.
You smile, connecting your lips, and run your hands on his chest. He smiles against the kiss, and you whisper, “I love you so much.”
“And I love you so much.”

blushing | luke patterson
pairing: luke patterson x reader
summary: the three times luke made you blush and the one time it was the other way around.
warning: swearing.
Tumblr media
The first time he made you blush was when you first met.
Julie said she wanted to introduce you to the guys of the band and you couldn't be more excited. As Julie's best friend you had seen them playing a few times but you had never talked to any of them before. What you didn't know was that the boys were also excited to get to know you, since you were all Julie talked about. You two had been best friends since diapers and not to know the boys who brought music back to her life was driving you crazy.
It was a saturday morning when Julie said you could go to her place. You entered the garage and Julie and the boys were already there working on something. You slightly cleared your throat in an attempt to show them you had arrived and they turned to face you.
"You're here!" Julie greeted and hugged you.
"Hey, Jules!"
"So, these are Alex, Reggie, and Luke." she said pointing to each of them while saying their respective names. The boys smiled at you and you smiled back, trying to find the best words to introduce yourself.
"Hey, i'm..."
"Y/N." Luke interrupted you and finished.
"Yes." you shyly grinned. "I'm Y/N."
"Couldn't forget the name of a pretty girl, right?" he said with a smirk and you blushed, trying to casually cover your red cheeks and the silly smile on your face. By the corner of your eye you could see Alex rolling his eyes and Reggie smiling at his friend's attempt to flirt with you.
"Okay..." Julie started with a little smirk looking between the two of you. "Y/N/N, you can stay and watch the practice if you want to." Luke and the guys looked at you expectantly, waiting for your answer.
"I wouldn't miss it." you said and sat on the couch, quietly laughing as you watched Alex and Reggie tease their friend about his little crush on you. That was the first time Luke Patterson made you blush.
The second time was when Luke found out you could sing.
You and Julie were in her room talking when she brought up a topic you hadn't thought about in a while.
"Why did you stop singing, Y/N/N?" she questioned.
"Honestly? I don't know, Jules. When you stopped singing i just felt like it wouldn't be fun doing that alone. Don't get me wrong, i love music, and it's not like i can't sing anymore. It's just... It has been a while. Maybe i should start doing that again."
"YES!" Julie said hugging me and making me laugh at her enthusiasm. "I'm happy for you. I'm always here, Y/N/N. Don't you dare forget that!" she said and i giggled, nodding.
The next morning you decided to go watch the band's practice again. From that first encounter on you had showed up everyday to see them playing, and that made you got closer to Alex and Reggie. Luke was a different story though: you two got closer too, but not in a completely friendly way. There was moments where the two of you would discreetly stare at each other and make a few flirty comments, making your friends roll their eyes at your obliviousness about fancying each other.
When you got there the studio was empty, so you just sat and waited for Julie and the boys to show up. After a few minutes of staring at the piano, you looked around to check if you were still alone. You slowly stood up and went to Julie's piano, getting more comfortable in your sit and looking at the instrument. When your fingers made their way to the piano keys you instantly realized how much you missed playing it.
After a few seconds of playing the melody of one of your favorite songs, you started to sing it too. You felt free. That feeling every time you sang, you felt it all over your body and you had no idea how much you missed that until you that moment. You finished the song smiling, so envolved that you didn't realize the boys were there, watching the whole thing.
"OH MY GOD!" Reggie shouted and you turned to face them with your heart racing. The three boys were looking at you with wide eyes and dropped jaws, and you didn't miss the look of pure adoration in Luke's face.
"Are you trying to kill me?!" you asked putting your hand in your heart. "What... How... How long have you been watching me?"
"Y/N/N." Luke called so softly that sounded like a whisper. "How could you not tell us you have that voice? You sound like an angel." he said with a beautiful smile and you couldn't help but blush deeply.
"Oh" you softly said while grinning at his adorable expression. "Thank you, Luke."
"I meant it." Luke said taking a few steps closer. He put a lock of hair behind your ear and you smiled at the gest. "You really do sound like an angel". He grinned and went back to his previously spot.
"You're like a vocal goddess!" Reggie exclaimed making you giggle. You hugged him and murmured a 'thank you'.
"I don't usually agree with Reggie, but he's right." Alex added, putting a hand on your shoulder. "You're really talented, Y/N. Julie was right."
"I'm always right!" Julie said entering the garage. "I'm so happy for you, Y/N/N. You did it." you smiled at your best friend.
"Does that mean you're joining our band?" Alex asked and you looked at Julie, who just held your hand and linked your arms with a big smile.
"I think you guys are joining our band". Julie answered and you couldn't be happier. That was the second time Luke made you blush.
The third time was at dinner.
You, Julie and the guys decided to eat at Tambo's, a nice dinner next to your house. After choosing your table, you started to talk.
"I like this place! Oh my God, do they have karaoke here?" Reggie questioned.
"I think they do. You should sing some country, Reg!" you suggested.
"I definitely should!" he enthusiastically said and you giggled.
You talked for a while when you noticed Luke was staring at you with a little smile. You just went back to your conversation with Alex when you heard Luke say something.
"You're fucking beautiful." he said out loud looking at you and everyone just stared at him. Your cheeks flushed red at the compliment. "D-did i just said that out loud?"
"You did, buddy" Alex answered holding back his laugh. Luke widened his eyes for a second but then he noticed your blush and just smirked like he always did. You had just realized he enjoyed making you flustered, and honestly, that made you a little mad — you decided that was the last time you'd let that happen.
And that leads you to when it happened to be the other way around.
You, Julie, Flynn and the boys had decided to meet a few friends on a friday night at Julie's backyard. Not a party, just a casual meeting. Willie, Bobby and a few other guys were going to be there so you started to get ready at 6 P.M. You went to Julie's house and greeted Flynn and her entering the girl's room.
"So..." Julie started. "Are you and Luke going to stop being so oblivious and finally admit your feelings for each other tonight?"
"Ha. You're funny, Jules." you sarcastly answered.
"I'm serious! I think he is going to do it."
"C'mon, Y/N! Julie is right. Tonight is the perfect oportunity..." Flynn said and you thought for a few seconds.
"Actually... maybe i should do something." you muttered mostly to yourself than to the girls. "Yeah. I'm tired of all the blushing, all of his little games to get me flustered. I'm definetely doing something tonight. He can't play with me like that, right? Let's go, i think everyone is already here."
"Y/N, that was not what i-" Flynn started but you had already left the room, heading to the yard. When you get there you greeted everyone. First Alex and Willie, who were sitting on the grass talking, and then you went to the little table where Luke, Bobby and Reggie were. They were in the middle of a conversation and before you decided what you were going to do, Bobby saw you and said hi.
"Hey, Y/N." he said making Luke and Reggie turn to face you.
"Hi, boys. What's up?" you greeted. Luke stared at you and instantly smiled. But that smile quickly became a smirk — his signature smirk. By that you already knew he was going to flirt again. A pick up line, a compliment, or anything else that would probrably drawn a rosy blush to your cheeks.
"Hey" he said stooding up from his chair and taking a step closer. "I'm glad you're here tonight."
"And why is that?" you asked trying hard to not get flustered by his words.
"A-Actually... I want to tell you something." he muttered getting a little nervous and you looked at him confusedly.
"It's ok. Go ahead." you told him.
"You know, i think you make me... a better person. Um, you know?" he said and you immediately got it: he was trying to confess his feelings. The girls were surprisingly right. "Um, yeah, i mean," he started to mumble when you didn't respond. It took a lot of braveness for you to do it, but you did: you took a step closer to him and your hands made their way to the back of his head, pulling him inches away from you and finally closing the space between your mouths. The sweet kiss ended after a few seconds and you couldn't help but smile at the sight of his adorable expression with his eyes still closed.
Luke slowly opened his eyes and everyone could notice the deep blush on his cheeks, making you grin widely. He looked at you for a second and then looked around, finding the other boys staring at the two of you, smirking.
"Look who is blushing now." you stated and he shyly smiled.
"Guess i am." he said playfully rolling his eyes and pecking your lips. "That's what i was trying to say before. I really like you. Really."
"Good." you whispered. "Because i like really like you too."
"That was not what i was trying to say upstairs, but it worked!" Flynn said entering the yard and you chuckled.
"Yeah..." Luke grabbed your waist pulling your body closer and kissed your forehead. "It worked the best way possible".

Thanks🙃

MASTER
---
Good vibes graced your eyes this morning as you opened Instagram to pass the time while you laid on the couch and was greeted first thing with a photo Charlie posted. It was a simple photo, one of him smiling and being goofy. He posted it with others of him, Jeremy, and Owen but this one caught your eye as it was focused on him. You didn’t know what looked better, Charlie’s smile or just Charlie. He looked good.
He looked really good.
Maybe it was dumb to have a crush on your cast mate, especially one who plays your ex in season 2 of Julie and the Phantoms, but you were closer with Charlie than anyone in the cast and a crush was just bound to form. This post however, despite Charlie having no knowledge of your crush on him, was just teasing.
You screenshot the photo, for yourself and to send to your girls’ chat. Your girls are your outlet, Madi figured out about your crush within a week of you figuring it out and promised that she would never tell Charlie, apparently telling it to the girls was a different story. You didn’t mind she said anything, in fact after she told Jadah, you told the rest of your friends during girls’ night.
Since then, they’ve been all for hearing you freak out about your crush on Charlie and constantly tell you to tell him. You work quickly to send the group the picture so they know exactly what you’re talking about followed by the message:
Do you guys see this? Like actually see this?? How is he so fucking hot? Who gave him the right to look so fucking good???
When the picture and message sent, you turn off your phone and drop it on your chest, hiding your smile in your palm despite no one being there to see it. You couldn’t help it; Charlie has that effect on you.
You were still sitting with your hand over your mouth when your phone buzzed with a text. You thought it was the girls who messaged but you weren’t prepared for the call that followed shortly after. With a deep breath you picked up your phone, panic setting in when Charlie’s contact fills your screen and you see the picture of him kissing your cheek as you snap a selfie from your hike just last month.
You took a moment to collect yourself before answering, putting the phone on speaker. “Hey! What’s up?”
There was a hesitation on Charlie’s end as you furrow your brows and wait for him to respond. “Uh, hey.”
Something was definitely wrong with him. Charlie is normally full of energy when he calls you or answers your calls. “‘Uh hey?’” you repeat with confusion and offer a soft laugh despite the worry that’s filling you. “Is everything okay? Or am I supposed to pretend that wasn’t a weird way for you to answer the phone?”
“That depends.”
He’s giving short answers. “On?”
“Whether you’re also going to pretend you didn’t send that message in the group chat?” Nothing could’ve prepared you for the feeling on your heart sinking in your chest, a knot forming instantly in your stomach. You were silent for too long. “Y/N?”
You end the call.
Oh no.
There was no way you sent the picture to the wrong chat. You clicked on your most recent conversation and you know the last conversation you were a part of was Savannah talking about a girl’s night soon. You were positive.
Your fingers have never trembled as much as they were in this moment as you pull open your messages and right there, at the top of your messages was the group chat, the one with all your friends from the cast. Turns out, Owen sent a message you hadn’t seen mere seconds before you opened the chat to send it and you mistakenly clicked on that one.
Great.
That’s so

“Fuuuck!” You shout loudly, grabbing one your throw pillows and burying your face in it before letting out a scream. You were fucked. How were you supposed to explain this? How were you supposed to explain screenshotting your best friends Instagram picture and sending it to the (wrong) group chat with the message about how hot he looks? Your phone rang again and dread washed over your body as Charlie’s contact reappeared, followed by your quick press to the decline button.
Is it possible to delete a message that people have already seen? Probably not. Maybe
maybe if you just avoid Charlie for
well, forever. You’ll never be able to outlive this feeling.
The third ring of your phone, and seeing Charlie’s contact once again, made you let out a startling sob, your heart racing faster than your driving after a long day of recording as you decline the call. Not wanting to decline a 4th time, you power your phone off and grab the blanket draped across the back of the couch. It hid you under perfectly as you bury your face in the pillow again, letting out another guttural scream.
This was a dream, right? There’s absolutely no way you actually sent that message and no way Charlie actually saw that message, right?
Please let this be a dream.
Constant knocking just a half hour later pulled you from your crisis, tears shed and unshed donning your face as you. Your blanket was pulled over your shoulders as you quickly trudge your way to the door, just wanting the pounding to go away.
You yank the door open, eyes on the ground so whoever it was would know you weren’t in the mood. “Please come back another time because right now, I’m having an existential-” you finally look up, catching sight of the wide smiling Charlie standing in your doorway “- crisis.” You finish in a whisper, tugging the blanket tighter around you.
“That’s an interesting thing to say when you open the door.” He joked and if you were in a more joyful, you would’ve laughed.
“Please go away.” You blurt out before processing and Charlie’s face fell and within seconds, the door closed in his face.
You press your back against the door, eyes clasp shut as you try to think of how you were going to get out of this. “Can you move away from the door so I can open it?” Charlie’s soft voice carried through the door’s barrier and you furrow your eyes, glancing down to the doors handle that hadn’t even tried to move.
“How did-” You cleared your throat, “How did you know I was leaning against the door?”
Charlie doesn’t answer your question, however. “I’m opening the door.”
You move quickly, falling back on the couch as Charlie pushes the door open slowly before realizing you weren’t behind it anymore. He stays silent, only moving to sit next to you on the couch. You had no clue what to say, or how to even start the conversation. You just kept your eyes glued to your phone on the coffee table in front of you, the black screen staring back at you like you knew Charlie was doing at this very moment.
“Can we talk about-”
“No.” you stop him before he can say anymore and he nods, moving his arm to drape behind you. He didn’t seem to mind your detached attitude as he leaned forward to grab your phone and found it powered off.
“So, this is why my next 3 calls went straight to voicemail.” He mumbles with a small smirk and you squeeze your eyes closed before sighing.
“I meant it for the girls chat.” You say quickly, hoping Charlie understands, but the expression he gives you proved he didn’t. You repeat yourself slower, watching the realization strike him as he chuckles, his long hair shaking with his head.
“That wasn’t girl chat.” Charlie states needlessly and you narrow your eyes at him, your lips falling into a thin line.
“Wow, thanks. I never would’ve noticed.” The way Charlie’s smile broke through his face caused your own smile to slip into appearance and there was no chance you could hold it back, your eyes closing as the last of your tears slipped free. Charlie’s thumb swiped over your cheek before you could open your eyes and you took a deep breath.
“Were you crying?” He whispers, continuing to dry your tears as you sit there embarrassed.
“No.” you lie and Charlie sees right through it.
“You’re a great actress,” He tells you as your eyes meet his, the corners of his eyes wrinkled from his smile, “but you can’t lie to save your life.”
You scoff, your jaw falling open. “I can so lie!”
“Another lie. What are the odds.” His smirk caused a flutter of butterflies in your stomach as you relent, forcing your eyes away from him. Charlie doesn’t need to hear you say anything to know you were mortified about everything that happened today, but he doesn’t think you should be.
“I’m sorry.” Charlie barely heard you.
“For what?” He matches your level, feeling you lean back into his arm, sitting situated on the couch behind your head.
“For sending that message. For
 for making things awkward now.”
“Nothing’s going to be awkward.”
“You already sounded awkward when you called me!”
Charlie didn’t know what to say, so instead he chuckles at you. “Y/N, a guy finding out his crush thinks he’s hot is like every guy’s dream. I wasn’t sure if you were just messing with me.”
“Well, yeah but-” you had cut off your sentence, the argument that spurred to your head falling silent as you take in Charlie’s words. You looked to him again. “Wait a minute, did you say you have a crush on me?”
He nods, reaching forward to grab your hand. “Yeah. You’re also lucky Madi picks up her phone otherwise, I would totally not have had the courage to tell you.” Charlie blushed and you let your smile grow wide, imagining Charlie actually having a crush on you. It sounds dumb, but in the whole time you’ve crushed on him, you’ve never sat back and thought about what he felt about you or what he was thinking when you went off on a tandem about anything, or paused the movie during one of your movie nights to info dump on him. You were so focused on your crush and not letting him find out that you never imagined Charlie could’ve been in the same boat.
“You’re not just saying that, right?” You ask nervous Charlie was just saying this to spare you some embarrassment. The shake of his head along with his smile was something you believed right away, but in addition, Charlie had back up.
“Turn your phone on.” He hands you your phone, the black screen no longer looking daunting as you listen to him, giving your phone a minute to start back up. Once it was ready, you were about to ask Charlie the point of doing so before messages you miss coming through. The first few were all from Madi, Savannah, and Jadah almost trying to spam the chat with messages to distract from your mistake, as if Charlie hadn’t already seen it. But then eventually you hit a certain message from Owen that makes your eyes scan the screen several times in confusion.
Since Y/N’s already outed herself, I think it’s time to out Charlie! :)
The simple sentence was followed by several, and by several, I mean more than you could count, screenshots of the guy’s group chat texts. More specifically, texts from Charlie to the group chat
 all about you.
I’m not whipped Jer, I just thought she looked cute today!
She’s wearing my jacket 😃 She’s wearing my jacket!! She’s looks gorgeous in it, better than me wtf
I can’t hang tonight because Y/N and I are hanging out
The last message was followed by Owen complaining about him ditching them for his ‘girlfriend’, to which Charlie replied,
She’s not my girlfriend
 yet
“Wow.” You bite your lip, feeling Charlie’s gaze on the side of your face.
He nods and takes your phone from you, slipping his hand into yours now that it was empty. “Do you see how stupid it is to be embarrassed for sending a message to the wrong chat? I’ve almost done it a hundred times by now.”
“Yeah, and you were so confident with that last text too.” You chuckle, feeling stupid for crying over your text now.
“Was the confidence misplaced?” Charlie’s voice softens and you realize he had gotten nervous, despite no need to be. You decide to ease his nerves, bringing your hand up to cup his jaw and your lips meet his softly. Charlie’s lips fit with yours as he returns the kiss, bringing you closer as the kiss deepens.
Charlie’s phone rings.
He ignores it and you do as well as the call stops, giving you both only a few fleeting seconds before it’s ringing again. Charlie groans as he pulls away and rips his phone out of his pocket to see Owen’s contact lighting up the screen. He sends you a knowing look before he answers it and you could hear Owen’s voice through the device pressed to Charlie’s ear.
“How’s it going?” He practically yelled and you stifle a laugh, watching Charlie wince.
“It was going great.” Charlie says flatly, his hand finding yours again.
“Was?”
“Yeah, we were in the middle of kissing.” You squeeze his hand, earning a smile from the man who squeezes you back.
“Were? Why’d you stop?”
You roll your eyes at your friend and take the phone from him and Charlie’s brow raises. “Owen, I love you buddy, but I’m going to hang up so I can go back to kissing my boyfriend. Is that alright?”
Owen’s laugh echoes in your ear and you realize he was messing with you, knowing exactly why you guys stopped. “Have fun!” He sang out to you and you pursed your lips to keep your smile at bay. “Make sure to use a cond-”
You hang up before he could finish the sentence.
Charlie’s laugh was the next one you hear as you hand him back his phone. “Boyfriend?” He says with a cocky confidence and you nodded, cupping his jaw again.
“If that’s alright with you.” You shrug and Charlie licks his lips, dragging the bottom between his teeth as he nods quickly. You chuckle too, running your hand through his hair as his lips meet yours once more.

Who you callin boyband?
Summary: anon requested calling the sunset curve boys a boyband and Luke reacting. Based off of Carlos calling then a boyband in the show.
Words: 1.8k
Warnings: none
Pairing: luke patterson x reader
Sorry I'm late to the anon who requested this!
...........................................
Their band had sounded amazing, as per usual. When Julie asked you if you could come watch to see if their song felt good enough for their next gig, you happily agreed. Though truthfully, you weren’t certain what she was worried about, they always sounded amazing and of course today was no exception.
“That was amazing you guys!” you chirped.
“Really?” Julie asked uncertainly.
“Definitely, I think that’s actually one of my favorites that you’ve made so far,” you assured her.
“See I told you guys she would like it,” Alex remarked from the back. You could tell from the phantom’s faces that there was a story behind his comment, but you didn’t bother asking.
“What do you guys say to some pizza to celebrate?” Julie suggested.
You agreed but you weren’t entirely certain Julie could even hear you over the boys chanting. Julie finally turned to you after they had quieted down.
“Yeah, I’ll take some,” you laughed.
“Great! I’ll let my Dad know,” she said, as she headed back up to her house. You watched her go, but your attention was soon diverted to the boys.
“You guys have to be the most pizza loving people I’ve ever met,” you teased.
“Then, you clearly have been hanging out with the wrong people,” Reggie commented.
You shrugged, “Maybe so, but you guys and pizza have more chemistry than Luke does on stage.” You took delight in the momentary look of shock on Luke’s face as you took a gulp from your water bottle. You almost thought you had him until the shock turned into a slick smile as his eyes flicked down towards yours.
“Does that mean you’re checking me out y/n?” Luke hinted. You could hear Reggie let out a oooooh in the background, but you choose to ignore it. Luke could recover quickly, you had to acknowledge that.
“Hate to break it to you Patterson, but I’m trying to manage the whole band. Not just you,” you slyly remarked.
His smile became more apparent. “But you didn’t answer the question.”
“He’s not wrong,” Alex pointed out. Reggie did finger guns towards him in agreement.
You crossed your arms and desperately hoped they didn’t realize how embarrassed you were. You leaned off the couch slightly and looked over to where Reggie and Alex were sitting. “For your information boyband, I was not checking Luke out,” you scoffed. You hoped they bought it, but that was evidently not the part that Luke was stuck on.
Luke tilted down so his arms rested at his knees, so he would be at your sitting level. “Wait, who are you callin boy band?”
“Uh, I don’t know, maybe the boy band in the room,” you said, as you gestured at them.
Luke crossed his arms too, sporting a pouty smile. “We are not a boy band.”
“You are boys. In a band. How are you not a boy band?” you argued.
“Y/n’s got a point there Luke,” Reggie agreed.
You pointed to him, “See, at least someone who’s logical is here.”
“Hey!” Alex started.
“Not you, that was directed at Luke,” you informed him.
“As you were,” Alex gestured at the two of you.
It wasn’t until you looked back at Luke that you realized your closeness to him. He couldn’t have been more than a foot away from where you sat. You cleared your throat, and you quickly tried to dismiss the thought from your mind.
“So boy band, why did you guys think I wasn’t going to like your new song?” you asked. They all exchanged seemingly panicked looks.
“Well it’s not that we thought you weren’t going to like it,” Alex trailed off.
“But like more of a general standpoint,” Reggie continued.
“Because it’s new,” Luke finished.
You suspiciously looked between the three. “Alright, what are you guys hiding?”
“Hiding? Us? Psssh,” Reggie scoffed. “I mean, it’s not like Luke-” He was cut off by Alex pressing a hand to his mouth.
“It’s not like Luke would’ve known whether you would like the song or not, is what Reggie was saying,” Alex offered as an explanation. The stink eye that the two were giving Reggie would’ve killed him on the spot if he weren’t already dead.
You were about to ask what was so important of a secret that
Reggie needed to be tackled, but Julie walked in.
“Did I just walk in on the middle of something?” she asked.
“Nope, just the boyband and their secrets,” you assured her with a slight smirk.
“Boyband, that’s new, I kinda like it,” Julie added.
Luke turned to head to the side with his mouth slightly agape as you bit down a laugh. “Thank you, that’s what I said.”
Julie was picking up on Luke’s annoyance and decided to play along. “Maybe I can get Flynn to change our name to Julie and the boyband,” she suggested.
“Oh my gosh, wouldn’t that be just perfect!” you exclaimed, being sickly sweet.
“You two are evil,” Luke said, as he threateningly pointed at the two of you.
You delightfully smirked. “What can I say Lukas, it’s my speciality,” you taunted. Reggie’s eyes went wide at the mention of his full name and Julie and Alex exchanged an amused look.
“What was that?” His grin was becoming more predatory by the second. He stood up to look down at you, and you took that as your cue to hop off the couch to face him.
“Did you miss what I said, Lukas?” You made sure to put extra emphasis on his name.
“No, I didn’t sweetheart,” he taunted back. You saw Julie raise her eyebrows from behind Luke’s shoulder. On one hand you hated that nickname but on the other hand you couldn’t tell if the growing heat on your face was from embarrassment of the name or the fact that Luke Patterson was calling you that. But you knew that you couldn’t let him know that.
“Mhmm, no we are not doing that,” you asserted.
He moved his face close enough to talk, you weren’t certain the others could hear him. “Well then don’t call me Lucas,” he bargained.
The words slipped from your mouth before your brain had a chance to realize what you were doing. “Make me,” you insisted.
You wished you could have disappeared in that moment, but alas you were stuck watching this as much as your three other friends were. When you finally opened your eyes to see what horrors you had in store for yourself, you first made eye contact with Julie; she looked rather surprised but almost a tint of impressed. You heard someone behind you clear their throat, and you turned around.
“I think we should go check if the pizza guy is here, right Julie?” Alex suggested.
Julie’s eyes went wide in realization of what was happening. “Right! Yep! You two stay here and hold the fort down!” She told you and Luke before practically sprinting out of the studio. You turned back around to see Reggie still standing there.
Alex quickly poofed back in and grabbed him as he incomprehensibly mumbled something.
Luke turned his attention back to you. “Make me, really y/n? That’s like the best you could come up with,” Luke crossed his arms.
“What would you prefer me to say?” you questioned. Something in Luke’s demeanor broke for a moment. His infamous smirk faltered, revealing something far more vulnerable behind it. “Luke, what are you guys hiding?” The puzzle pieces started to click into place about the day’s practice.
“Do you really want to know?” he timidly asked. You hadn’t seen him as nervous as he was at that moment.
You intently nodded your head.
“The guys were trying to keep it a secret, but I wrote that song myself about someone,” he shyly explained.
“Luke! That’s really cool, I knew there had to be a reason why I liked it so much.ïżœïżœïżœ You playfully bumped his hand.
Your response puzzled him. “You don’t want to know who it’s about?”
“Luke, your friends are not very good at keeping secrets,” you laughed.
“Are you serious?” he dumbfoundedly asked.
You couldn’t wipe the smile off your face. “Reggie accidentally told me last week,” you admitted.
“I’m gonna kill him,” Luke muttered, but you could see his lips twitching upwards.
“But he kept my secret, because he didn’t tell you that I like you back.” The last bit of your sentence was slightly mumbled as you tilted your head to the floor in embarrassment.
He softly grabbed your jaw and pulled you back up to his level.
“Sorry, I didn’t quite catch the last part.” And just like that, his smirk had returned.
You forced yourself to look up into his sparkling hazel eyes. “I like you, a lot, Luke.”
As he heard your words you swore you saw the fire in his eyes grow brighter. “I like you a lot too y/n.” His face was mere milimeters away from yours.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked softly.
Your eyes flicked from his lips back to his eyes. “Of course Patterson.” The gap closed between the two of you and it was like two worlds collided. His lips were slightly colder than yours as they softly melted into yours. You felt his one hand clutch your cheek softly, as the other held to the back of your neck. Your hands instinctively went to his hair as your kiss developed into something deeper, until the both of you had to swim to the surface for air.
As you caught your breath you realized that there were three very shocked occupants at the studio door.
You saw Reggie and Alex silently hand Julie ten bucks. “So do we have to watch you guys have eye sex still or are we good now?” Julie teased.
“Jules!” you groaned.
“She’s not wrong,” Reggie said as he walked past you.
Luke chuckled at your flustered state, “Yeah, I think we’re good now,” he responded, sending a wink in your direction that you rolled your eyes at.
“Great cause we have pizza!” Alex announced.
“Oh yay!” You were grateful for the attention being taken off of you.
“So does this mean that you were checking me out during rehearsal?” Luke asked, as you took a bite.
You rolled your eyes, but you decided to indulge him. “Yes, Patterson, I was checking you out.”
Alex grimaced. “Ohhh big mistake, he’s gonna hold that overhead for at least a month,” he warned.
You turned to Luke who clicked his tongue and finger gunned towards you in agreement. You resisted the urge to groan at your newest annoyance.
“But you’re stuck with me now,” Luke said with a mouthful.
“Luke, really?” Julie commented.
“Sorry,” he said, with his mouth still full.
You grinned at him, and despite his previous threat, you couldn’t be happier that you were finally stuck with him.

An Unforgettable New Year’s Eve | Charlie Gillespie - 1/3
Pairing: Charlie Gillespie x fem! Reader
Warning: none
Word Count: 2,213
Plot: (Y/N) doesn’t want to go to the new years eve party where her ex would be with his new girlfriend. Sadly, she promised her best friend she’d go. But instead of letting her wallow in self pity, Charlie makes it his mission to give her a new years eve she will never forget, which makes her ask herself one question: Can you fall in love in just one night?
A/N: A big thanks goes to @bass-ic-deaky and @a-tomb-with-a-view for proof-reading this part. I don’t know what I would do without you!
I wish you all the best for the next year! May 2021 be better than this year.

Normally (Y/N) loved the holidays. She loved dressing up for Halloween and going to parties with her friends. She loved seeing her family on Thanksgiving, eating turkey and telling them what made her feel thankful. She loved decorating the Christmas tree and singing christmas carols. She loved celebrating the beginning of each new year...well, normally she did. This New Year’s Eve was going to be quite different. Her friend Colin was throwing a party in his big loft like he did every year, and normally that would be alright. (Y/N) loved traditions, and celebrating New Years Eve at Colin's place felt like a tradition by now. A tradition she had always attended with Noah. But this year she would go by herself. Of course (best friend's name Maya, her best friend, would come with her but it wasn’t the same. Once they got the party Maya would probably disappear into the celebrating crowd, leaving (Y/N) to fend for herself. In any case, her friends decided that it would be better for (Y/N) not to drink during this New Years Eve Party. “It just ends messy when you drink and already feel miserable.” Maya tried to explain to her. (Y/N) would’ve preferred to just stay at home all by herself in all honesty but her best friend was against her plans.“The company will do you good.” Maya argued until (Y/N) had agreed to go with her.
“Someone will also have to make sure that you get home safely.” (Y/N) shrugged, trying to persuade herself that going to the party might be a good idea. She would just go to keep an eye on Maya all night long. That alone would be enough for a distraction.
However, it turned out that was easier said than done. Her friend immediately grabbed herself a drink and joined the crowd on the packed dance floor. (Y/N), on the other hand, got herself some water. Her gaze drifted through the crowd from each drunk partygoer to the next. She spotted Colin who was standing in front of one of the big big paintings, which decorated his loft. He seemed to be chatting animatedly about it to a couple standing next to him, who, even from across the room, were obviously sloshed from how they swayed from side to side, and it was only 7:23pm. A laugh cut through the music, pounding from the large DJ speakers. It didn’t ever matter how loud a room could be, she’d always hear that laugh no matter what. That’s when her gaze landed on him, wearing one of those silly New Year’s Eve party hats. The shirt he was wearing, that had been a gift from her for their last anniversary. He had broken it off with her a few weeks later, right before Thanksgiving, leaving his seat empty during family dinner.
(Y/N) could still remember their conversation. It seemed like it was forever embedded in her mind. “I can’t do this anymore!” He had said while packing his belongings he had left at her place.
“Why?” She sobbed, trying to get a hold of him, trying to get him to look at her, but he had shrugged her off.
“It just won’t work between us. Not for the long run at least, we’re too different.” He had said nonchalantly.
“But...how? Why?!” She whimpered “A few weeks ago you talked about us moving in together for god’s sake!” She had grabbed him by his arm forcing him to turn around to look at her. The look on his face had changed.
He looked sorry for her. Why was he taking pity on her? “I met someone else.”
And this particular ‘someone else’ was standing next to him, with Noah’s strong arm wrapped around her waist pulling her close. Her golden wavy hair fell elegantly over her shoulders as she stood there with her stupid perfect makeup and stupid perfect dress. The tears began to form in (Y/N) eyes again. Not here, she told herself and took a deep breath, trying desperately to steady herself. (Y/N) had promised to herself that they would not ruin this party for her, she had promised Maya she’d have fun and that would try to do that now. Like trying to keep an eye on Maya, that turned out to be easier said than done. That’s why (Y/N) found herself in a corner of the room, sitting on a bench and staring at her cup with a blank expression on her face.
“Either you just really hate New Years Eve parties or someone’s here you don’t like that much.” (Y/N) turned her head to look at the brunette guy who had sat down next to her a few minutes prior. She hadn’t paid him any mind, she went about her business and he with his. Like most of the guests, he was wearing funny glasses and a party hat. His curly brunette hair hung to his shoulders and his hazel eyes sparkled happily at her. She was grateful to him for trying to save her evening, but her desire for company was waning by the second.
(Y/N) sighed looking back down at her lap. “It’s alright, don’t worry about it.” She tried to shrug him off to wallow in her self-pity once again.
“Doesn’t look like it’s alright. Maybe you need a drink?” He suggested.
She slowly shook her head “I can’t. I promised my friend I’d bring her home safely.” (Y/N) pointed to her best friend, who at the moment tried to drink as much as she could out of a beer funnel.
Charlie chuckled at the sight. “Well she’s a messy drunk, isn’t she.”
“Also...I’ve heard you only should drink when you’re in a good mood.” She mumbled, not knowing if the guy next to her was even able to hear her over the loud music.
“And you aren’t in a good mood because
?” He treaded carefully.
(Y/N) sighed as she looked up to the guy next to her. His eyes were gazing at her, a friendly look glinting in them, not intrusive like she had expected it would’ve been. More honest and seemingly genuinely interested in making her feel better. “I don’t wanna pull you down with me.” She answered truthfully.
The guy chuckled “You won’t, I promise. It’s gonna be my mission to pull your mood up no matter what.”
This made her smile. “I’m sure you’d have a better night if you spent it with someone else.”
“Well, I know most people here but I like to make new friends. It’s like this saying: Always start a new year with new friends.” He smiled brightly.
(Y/N) chuckled “I’m pretty sure it’s not a saying.”
He laughed slightly “Well it might not be one but it made you smile. So one step closer to making this a better night for you
.uh
” He looked at her expectantly.
“(Y/N).” She replied with a wide smile.
“One step closer to make this night better for you, (Y/N), way better.” He said as he held his hand towards (Y/N) for her to shake.
“I’m Charlie, by the way.” He introduced himself. She took his hand and slightly shook it. His hand nearly entirely engulfed hers and felt warm around hers. “Now that we’re on a first name basis, you should really tell me who put you in such a foul mood.” He took a sip from his cup and looked at her curiously.
(Y/N) sighed. Her gaze fell to a tall guy standing in a group of people. “You see him?” She pointed slightly at the guy. “That’s my ex. We were both invited to this party when we were still a couple.” she explained “But then he broke up with me for the blonde girl standing next to him. Obviously, for whatever reason I still thought it would be an excellent idea to come here because we’re in the same circle of friends. I didn’t think for a second he would bring her.” She spat with a bitter look on her face.
“And now instead of partying you’re just sitting here all sad?” Charlie asked.
(Y/N) nodded “As I said, I promised my friend I’d bring her home safely and I wouldn’t be able to if I were drunk. Also I promised before I knew how the night would turn out for me. Believe me whenI say I really regret this choice.”
Charlie frowned. Suddenly an idea came to mind. “What if I told you I have a plan for how this night could turn out good for you?”
(Y/N) snorted. “How?”
“Let’s get out of here. I know some really good places. They’re incredible on New Year’s Eve!” He suggested, smiling and his eyes shining brightly.
“I can’t. I promised Maya...” She started but Charlie interrupted her.
“...That you get her home safely. I know, I know. We’ll be back by midnight. That could be at least 4-5 hours full of adventures!” He emptied his cup with one big sip and stood up. “Come on!” he rose from his spot holding his hand out towards her.
She eyed him suspiciously. “For all I know you could pull me into an alley once we leave this building, stab me and run away while I bleed to death”
The guy next to her chuckled. “Nah, don’t worry about that. I only do that on the first tuesday of the month. Come on, it’ll be fun!” He looked at her with his best puppy dog eyes, which behind the glasses made him look ridiculous.
(Y/N) playfully rolled her eyes “Fine! But we have to be back by midnight.” She took his hand and stood up. They wove their way through the crowd before (Y/N) pulled on his arm. “Wait, I should tell my friend that I’m coming back.” She made her way towards her friend, who was rocking her soul out to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ on the dance floor. (Y/N) slightly touched her shoulder to get her attention
“(Y/N)!” Her friend screamed her name. “There you are! Let’s party!”
(Y/N) chuckled “I’m going to leave for a few hours but I promise I’ll be back before midnight.”
Maya’s eyes went wide when her gaze landed on the guy behind her best friend. “Oh, oh I get it. Of course. Don’t worry about me.” She pushed (Y/N) towards Charlie “Just you know...stay safe, if you know what I mean.” She winked at both of them.
(Y/N) felt her cheeks heating up. She chuckled slightly and nodded “Alright fine, and you my dear don’t drink too much!”
“You know I’m really bad at keeping promises.” Maya winked at her.
(Y/N) laughed and nodded as she turned to Charlie. “Shall we?” She asked him.
Charlie took her hand again and gave it a light squeeze. “Yeah, let’s go!” The cold December air hit them like a bus as soon as they made their way outside. (Y/N) expected them to go to the subway station but instead Charlie pulled her towards a red motorcycle. “Have you ever been on a motorcycle?” He asked her as he fetched a second helmet out from under the seat holding it out for her.
Hesitantly, she took the helmet from him as she shook her head “No, and you might’ve also had a little too much to drink to still be able to drive.”
Charlie laughed “Well, honestly I was looking out for one of my friends too, so I wasn’t drinking either.” (Y/N) looked at him suspiciously as he put on the other helmet. He held his hands up in defense. “I swear, you can even smell my breath if-”
“That won’t be necessary!” (Y/N) exclaimed, which made the guy in front of her chuckle. She eyed the helmet before she put it on. “Is this how it goes on?” She asked him with a brow raised in confusion.
“Wait, let me help you.” Charlie took a step towards her. Slowly, he pulled her hair away, which had fallen into her sight. “Can’t have your helmet falling off.”
Her eyes drifted up to meet his, which sparkled brightly in the moonlight. She felt her hands getting a little bit sweaty. It must’ve been because of the thought of riding a motorcycle for the first time and not because of this cute guy in front of her, she tried to tell herself. Her thoughts were interrupted by his soft voice, “Now it’s good.” He smiled at her. “All secure and ready for an adventure. Shall we?” He asked and made an invitational gesture towards his bike.
(Y/N) took a deep breath and nodded. Charlie climbed onto the bike putting up the kick stand before nodding at her to get on behind her. “Hold onto my waist. Tightly. I promise I’ll drive carefully.”
She nodded and nervously put his arms around his torso. She could feel the heat radiating from his body in front of her, it was quite soothing actually. She pressed into him a bit more
.for safety, she told herself. Charlie started the engine. “Ready?”
“As I’ll ever be.”
He chuckled softly. “Excellent, hold on tight now.” Slowly, the wheels underneath them started to move and brought them away from the party. From stupid ex-boyfriends. From a dull new years eve party. “We’re going on an adventure.”

Summary: Reader is Alex’s sister, but she also happens to be Luke’s best friend. She’s the person he always runs to for anything. so it doesn’t really come as a shock to anyone that she died alongside them. Reader also really hates shoes so it’s a huge shock to the boys when they find her hanging out around home in the one thing she really hates: shoes.
Please refrain from stealing our work, thank you and please enjoy!!

Y/n’s Pov: {December 12th, 1995}
I stand off to the side of the stage by a table with my brother's and best friend’s towels in my hand. I wiggle my toes against the cold floor and smile at the soothing feeling. I hold my shoes with my socks stuffed in them and on my shoulder is my brother's fanny pack.
I lightly drop my shoes down to the ground before pulling the fanny pack around to my front to get out a piece of gum. The boys start playing Now or Never, making me smile as I watch them dance around. I watch as they play and I see Luke look down at my feet before chuckling and shaking his head, then starting to sing.
â™Ș Take off, last stop
Countdown 'til we blast open the top
Face first, full charge
Electric hammer to the heart â™Ș
I smile at the passion my brother and best friend have up on the stage. All the boys are sweating as they jump around and jam to the music. I continue to dance around and Luke keeps smiling when he looks at me, making my stomach flip every time.
â™Ș Clocks move forward
But we don't get older, no
Kept on climbing
'Til our stars collided
And all the times we fell behind
Were just the keys to paradise â™Ș
Luke sings and as they come up onto the next part the others join in on the verse. I stop dancing for a moment to watch as Luke finishes his line so passionately. I smile at him as I wiggle my toes a bit.
â™Ș Don't look down
'Cause we're still rising
Up right now
And even if we hit the ground â™Ș
They all end the last verse together and Luke sings the next part. He continues to smile at me like a lovesick puppy and I can’t help but do the same. I watch in awe as he sings like he’s singing to me and I find myself wishing he would be.
Being best friends with the guy you're in love with and one of your brother's best friends is hard. Alex of course knows how I feel, heck, he pegged me liking Luke even before I realized it. But he’d never in a million years spill my secrets.
â™Ș We'll still fly
Keep dreaming like we'll live forever
But live it like it's now or never â™Ș
I blush lightly when Luke winks at me as he sings his heart out. He smirks when he sees my reaction, then goes back to singing and I wiggle my feet some more as they continue with the song.
â™Ș Hear the noise in my head
It's calling out like a voice I can't forget
One life, no regrets
Catch up, got no time to catch my breath â™Ș
Luke continues to look at me and I can’t help but to have an overwhelming feeling of love for him even though we are very much not a couple. I move over and take Alex’s fanny pack off my shoulder and grab my water off the stool I had set it on. As I move the floor is colder on my feet and I can’t help but smile as I wiggle my toes again.
â™Ș And clocks move faster
'Cause it's all we're after now, oh â™Ș
Luke finishes the last line and nods at Reggie for him to come sing with him. Reggie goes over to him and they sing together into the mic, facing each other and I smile even more.
â™Ș Won't stop climbing
'Cause this is our time, yeah â™Ș
Reggie and Luke sing the line together, then Luke smiles as he pushes Reggie back to his spot on the stage as he continues to sing into his mic alone. Luke turns and looks back at me with a huge grin. He shakes his head again, but never wavers in his singing.
â™Ș When all the days felt black and white
Those were the best shades of my life â™Ș
When Luke is done with the last line, they all come in to sing the next part and I sway with the song. If we were in the garage, I’d be full on rocking out, but we aren’t, so I dial my dancing down a bit.
â™Ș Don't look down
'Cause we're still rising
Up right now
And even if we hit the ground â™Ș
When they all finish, it goes back to Luke, who continues to have the most energy on the stage. I continue to lightly dance as my best friend and brother seem to push their passion on me.
â™Ș We'll still fly
Keep dreaming like we'll live forever â™Ș
After Luke sings his line, the guys come back in to sing with him again. Now I quietly sing along, still enjoying the coolness of the floor on my feet.
â™Ș But live it like it's now or never â™Ș
When they all finish singing, Alex takes his part and Reggie does the background parts. I smile as my brother seems to have found something that makes him happy, which makes me happy.
â™Ș We ain't searching for tomorrow (tomorrow)
'Cause we got all we need today (today) â™Ș
Once Alex and Reggie finish, Luke takes over singing again. I see Alex look at me briefly and I give him a thumbs up in encouragement with a huge grin. He smiles as he quickly gets back into it and I can’t help but smile proudly.
â™Ș Living on a feeling that's been running through our veins â™Ș
After Luke’s line, Reggie then takes over this time to sing his part. I smile as Reggie, who's normally more shy than the others, gladly sings his part without even an ounce of shyness.
â™Ș We're the revolution that's been singing in the rain â™Ș
After Reggie sings they all come in again, but this time they bring claps into the mix. I smile as I clap along to their beat while they sing.
â™Ș Don’t look down 'Cause we're still rising up right now and even if we hit the ground â™Ș
“They're good, yeah?” A girl comes up and starts to clean the table that I’m next to. I turn to her with a smile.
“Yeah, they really are. I'm proud to call the lead singer my best friend and the drummer my brother,” I say as we bop our heads to the very end of Now or Never.
“You're one lucky girl to have their music in your life everyday,” she says and I smile.
“Yeah, I am,” I say, turning back to watch the boys as I continue to dance lightly to the song.
“Let me guess
don’t like shoes?” she asks as she points down to my feet while moving to a new table.
“Yeah. I just don’t really like the construction of them
” I admit as I look down at my own shoeless feet.
“My sister used to be the same. Then she started having to wear them more for pilates
 that new workout thing
?” she explains before trailing off and I nod.
“Yeah I’ve heard of it,” I tell her and she nods.
“Well when she started that, she started wearing more workout shoes and now she loves them,” she continues to explain and I smile at her.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be one to wear shoes. My mom tells me she’d put me in some when I was little and then not even two seconds later, Alex or Luke would be telling her I took them off,” I explain with a giggle and she giggles too.
“Well that sounds like you definitely love being shoeless,” she comments and I nod in agreement.
“Oh I definitely do,” I tell her and she grins before going back to whatever she was doing beforehand.
â™Ș We'll still fly
Keep dreaming like we'll live forever
But live it like it's now or never
It's now or never (now or never) â™Ș
Just as we finish our conversation, the boys are finishing up and I smile as they all pat each other’s back. They stay on the stage, basking in the feeling, then they talk for a minute before coming down to where I’m standing.
“Hey, sweetheart. What'd you think? Wasn’t that awesome?!” Luke uses the nickname he’s always had for me, but I can’t help but wish it was in a different way.
In all his sweaty glory, he comes over to hug me from behind. I squeal before giggling, nodding as he lets go of the hug and grabs his towel from my shoulder.
“Yeah, hon, it was electric,” I agree with him as I use my pet name for him and smile when Alex puts his arm over my shoulder.
“I was on fire, sis!” he exclaims and I smile.
“Yes you were, Lex!” I concur with a nod before giving my brother a kiss on the cheek.
“Anyway sweetheart, we’re going to get street dogs to celebrate. You gonna come?” Luke asks as he now replaces Alex's arm with his.
“Yeah, I think I will,” I reply and Luke smiles before giving my cheek a kiss. I push back the thought that I wish that could be a kiss on the lips.
“Well if you’re coming, you should put your shoes back on,” Alex tells me as he bends down to pick up my shoes.
“Do I have too?!” I whine out like a five year old, making both Luke and Alex laugh.
“Yes, sweetheart. You have to. I promise you can take them off as soon as we get to the alley,” Luke tells me and I grin at him.
“Ok. I guess I can,” I reluctantly agree as Alex hands me my shoes, rolling his eyes before giving me the ‘we are so talking about this later’ look.
“I’ll put them back on here in a minute,” I assure them and they both nod before Alex grabs his fanny pack along with my water.
“Hey! Bobby, where are you going?!” Luke asks as we watch Bobby go up to the girl I talked to earlier.
“I’m good,” he replies, turning back to Luke for a moment with a shrug before he goes back to the girl with all of us now following.
“Vegetarian. I could never hurt an animal,” Bobby boasts as he tries to flirt with the poor girl.
We all come up next to him and Luke puts his other arm up onto Bobby’s shoulder. He holds my hand with his other hand, something we’ve just always done platonically. Reggie stands next to me with an arm on Alex’s shoulder as Alex is on the other side of him.
“You guys are really good,” the girl praises them and smiles at the boys.
“Thank you,” Luke sheepishly says with a big smile on his face.
“I see lots of bands. Been in a couple myself. I was really feeling it,” she emphasizes as she looks at us.
“That’s what we do this for. I’m Luke, by the way,” Luke continues to flirt with her and my stomach twists with jealousy.
But then Luke squeezes my hand and I smile at the fact that it’s for no reason but to let me know he loves me. We’ve always done that when one of us seems to be upset, just as a sign of ‘I’m here, you’re ok,’ to calm the other. It’s our way of saying we love one another without having to say it, always has been and always will be. Again, Alex gives me a look and I shrug, making him roll his eyes.
“Hi, I’m Reggie,” Reggie introduces himself in a flustered tone.
“Alex,” Alex chimes in, putting a hand up in a wave.
“Y/n.. nice to meet you,” I interject with a sweet smile as I lift my hand and give a small wave like my brother did.
“Bobby,” Bobby chirps as he pushes Luke behind him a bit.
“I’m Rose. Nice meeting you guys,” the girl says amusedly, and smiles a beautiful smile.
Luke then gives Bobby a wet willie and I giggle lightly when he does. I then hold a shoe out to Alex and he nods as he takes my left shoe to hold it for me. With my right shoe I take my sock out and Alex takes the right one as well.

I bend down and Luke keeps a hold on my arm to balance me. I smile up at him in thanks, then finish putting my socks and shoes on.
Tumblr media
“Oh, uh, here’s our demo. And a tee shirt, size beautiful,” Reggie croons, now flirting as well and I roll my eyes as I stand up right again.
“Thanks. I’ll be sure not to wipe down the tables with this one,” she jokes as she holds it up to herself before she throws it over her shoulder.
“Oh, good call! Whenever they get wet, they kinda just fall apart in your hands,” Alex informs her and I smirk at him as he bashfully looks away.
“Don’t you guys have to go get hot dogs?” Bobby asks as he tries to get us all to leave so he can be with Rose.
“Yeah. He had a hamburger for lunch,” Luke informs Rose as he pushes Bobby back so he can talk to Rose. He then pushes off the table with his hands and grabs my hand again before leaving.
“That’s what I’m talking about!” Luke exclaims and Reggie giggles as we all walk out the back door of the Orpheum.
“The smell of sunset boulevard?” Alex asks and I snort as I start to giggle before groaning.
“The shoes?” Alex asks me and I nod.
“No. It’s what that girl said in there tonight,” Luke explains as he swings our hands back and forth and kicks the puddle that’s in front of us.
“About our music, right? It’s like an energy. It connects us with people,” he elaborates and I smile even though in my mind I’m only wanting to take my shoes off.
“I mean, he’s got a point Lex, that’s what connected me and Luke,” I agree and Luke smiles, pulling me in so I’m against his side with his arm around my shoulders.
“She’s not wrong, man, but they can feel us when we play. I want that connection with everybody,” Luke bursts happily and pulls the boys into our little huddle as well.
“Then we’re gonna need more t-shirts,” Reggie jokes as he holds up one of the sunset curve shirts I helped them make a couple weeks ago and the rest of us laugh.
“Let’s go,” Luke playfully orders and I giggle as Luke pulls me closer to leave a kiss to the side of my forehead.
“I love you,” I muse, making him smile.
“I love you too, precious,” he parrotes me, making me grin and nuzzle into his side.
Out of my peripheral I see Alex shake his head lightly and I only cuddle Luke closer. Alex lets out a huff and I shrug as Luke lets go of me.
“Let’s go boys,” Luke commands as pops his hood up over his head as we all head to the front of the Orpheum. “And best friend,” Luke adds, making me giggle.
We continue walking forward until we pass a group of girls who are all talking and not noticing anything at all.
“Ladies,” Reggie croons as he walks up to them and hands them the leftover shirts he has.
We stop and wait for him as he hands them the shirts before coming back to us. Then we all continue walking and the girls open the shirts only to let out a scream.
“Reggie, wait!” One of the girls yells out, making me giggle as Reggie smirks.
We walk for a while before coming up to the alley to get our hot dogs. We get our hot dogs from the cook before we each pile condiments onto them from the back of an Oldsmobile.
“Man
. I can’t wait until we eat someplace where the condiments aren’t served out of the back of an Oldsmobile,” Alex states as he turns to Luke and then walks off to the owner.
“I mean, I can’t say I don’t agree,” I tell Luke and he chuckles as he grabs my hand.
“Hey
sorry I got some pickle juice on your battery cables,” Alex informs the much older man and I hold back a giggle.
“No problem. It’ll help with the rust,” the older man jokes with a laugh.
“That can’t
. okay. What?” Alex asks in confusion, then just deciding to let it go as he walks away from the man. He shakes his head and I giggle when he comes back up next to me.
“Confused?” I ask him and he nods.
“Duh!” he tells me and I snort out a giggle.
We walk over to a couch with our food and sit down. Reggie sits farthest to the left and Luke sits next to him before pulling me down onto his lap and Alex shakes his head as he sits down next to Luke. I push my hot dog into Alex’s hand and he rolls his eyes.
“Uhh, ok sure. I’ll hold it for you, sis,” he sarcastically jokes and I giggle.
I reach down and quickly pull off one shoe along with its sock before ripping the other off. I lean back into Luke with a sigh and he chuckles as I take my hot dog back from Alex.
“This is awesome, you guys. We’re playing the Orpheum! I can’t even count how many bands have played here and ended up being huge,” Luke says excitedly as he keeps his arm around me while holding his hot dog with the other.
“We’re gonna be legends!” Luke exclaims with a smile.
“Yes, you guys will be. And I’ll be right beside you the whole time,” I agree and promise them with a big smile.
“Eat up, sweetheart. You too, boys. Cause after tonight, everything changes,” Luke informs us as he squeezes my hip while holding his hot dog in the air.
We all put our hotdogs together as if toasting to something, then each take a big bite.
“That’s a new flavor,” Alex mentions with a mouth full of hotdog while looking at us.
“Chill man, street dogs haven’t killed us yet,” Reggie jokes, making me giggle.
“I mean he’s got a point. We’ve been eating here for how long?” I ask with a shrug before we all continue to eat.
Little did we know, the hotdogs had bad chemicals in them, chemicals that aren't good to ingest at all.
Y/n’s Pov:{2020 after the Orpheum performance}
“Knock knock,” I speak as I stick my head through Julie's bedroom door.
“Ahh, if it isn’t my favorite ghost that actually has manners. You can come all the way in,” Julie jokes as she turns to look at me and I grin as I step all the way in.
“Hi, Julie. Yeah, the guys are not well mannered, that's something we can agree on,” I say with a laugh and she smiles, also laughing.
“Come to get away again?” she asks and I quickly turn away from her before starting to look around her room again.
“Yeah
 he’s just
” I sigh and shake my head as I make my way to her closet.
“Infuriating?” she fills in for me and I bite my lip as I nod.
I start to look around her closet and find a shirt I really like. Smiling, I pull it off the hanger and turn to her as I hold it up.
“Can I try this on?” I ask her and she nods as she gets up and grabs a notebook off her chair.
“Sure. Just don’t do what your boyfriend apparently likes to do,” she tells me with a giggle as she sits back down and I pull it off the hanger.
“One, he’s not my boyfriend. Two, Alex tells that story too much. It was one time!” I quickly defend Luke as I walk over to the mirror to slip it on over my shirt and Julie shakes her head.
“Whatever, just make sure it stays the way it is and comes back to me,” she jokes and I roll my eyes in the mirror at her.
“Yeah, yeah. One time. One time Luke steals a shirt and cuts it up, then we both become shirt villains,” I joke as I turn to look at her.
“Well? Does it look good on me?” I ask her as I hold my arms out and spin a little.
“Yeah. It does. Go ahead and borrow it whenever you want to,” she tells me when she looks up at me from writing and I grin at her.
“Thank you, Jules,” I tell her and she smiles sweetly back at me.
“Of course. That’s what girlfriends are for,” Julie says as she continues to write in her book.
“I’ve never really had girl friends. I’ve only ever had the boys
” I tell her, my voice thick with emotion and she gets up from the bed.
“Well, you have me and Flynn now,” she tells me as she comes up beside me.
“Wanna try on anything else?” she asks and I shrug, making her smile.
“Really y/n, it’s ok. Try whatever you like,” she reiterates to me and I grin, making her smile as she goes and sits back on her bed.
I excitedly walk over to her closet and look through it. I look at her shirts for a few minutes, but nothing jumps out at me. I sigh and let my head fall with my eyes falling closed, making Julie chuckle.
“Nothing speaks to ya, huh?” she asks and I huff, opening my eyes.
My eyes light up as I see something and Julie seems to notice as she once again gets up to come over to me. I bend down and pick them up with a smile on my face. Julie watches me carefully as I straighten up and look at her.
“Do you have socks by chance? I don’t know if mine would even be in the bags in the garage or not. I never really kept any around,” I say excitedly and she smiles, walking over to her dresser.
“Sure, what kind do you normally like?” she asks as she opens the drawer.
“Umm, you got any knee high?” I ask and she gives me a devilish smile.
“Oh, I’ve got many
” she tells me as she begins to pull a bunch out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Julie lays out pair after pair and I marvel at all her choices of knee high socks. I find it hard to pick my favorite pair and Julie chuckles.
“Pick two or three favorites and you can keep them along with the shoes,” Julie tells me and my head snaps up to look at her.
“Really? I can keep the shoes and two pairs of socks?” I ask and she nods, smiling.
“The shoes aren’t really my favorite anymore, so yeah. Keep ‘em. I also don’t really wear the knee highs anymore,” she says with a laugh as she motions to all the socks she has.
“Thank you, Jules,” I tell her and she smiles, nodding at me.
“There’s so many new patterns from when I was younger. How will I ever pick?” I ask and she chuckles as she lifts a pair off the bed.
“I think you’d like these maroon ones or maybe the navy blue, but if you're ever looking to impress a certain someone, then I’d take one of the music notes,” she tells me as she lifts each one to show me.
“I’ll take the maroon and the yellow and black ones, those ones kinda remind me of when Luke used to call me bee
” I fondly tell her as I pick up the socks before looking up at her to see she has an amused look on her face.
“What?” I ask and she giggles.
“He used to call you, bee? Really?” she asks and I blush lightly.
“It was because bumblebee was my favorite transformer. He used it when we were like 8!” I exclaim when she raises an eyebrow at me.
“Ok. No, that's actually a very cute reason
” she admits as she crosses her arms and I smile.
“Isn’t it, though? If Lex were here he’d totally be gagging and rolling his eyes,” I tell her and she chuckles.
“I could totally see that. Alex seems very protective over you,” she agrees with me and I roll my eyes.
“You have no idea,” I joke and she laughs again.
“You can come take my socks whenever. Like I said, I don’t wear them very often. But keep those ones, they’re yours now,” she tells me with a grin and I grin back.
“Really, thank you,” I tell her again and she shrugs.
“Hey. It’s nothing. I know you hate shoes, so if you like those and I mean really like them, go right ahead and keep ‘em,” she tells me with a smile and I jump up, grabbing the shoes and socks.
“I’ll see you later. Thank you for my new shoes and socks. You think Luke will like ‘em? They match his
” I say in a bashful tone and Julie smirks.
“I’m sure he’ll love them. Heck, he’ll probably just like seeing you excited about shoes for once,” Julie jokes with another shrug and I giggle.
“You're right. I’ll see you later?” I ask her and she nods, grinning.
“Got a gig with the boys tonight so I’m sure I’ll see you there. You never pass our gigs up,” she tells me as she starts picking up the other socks.
“That’s ‘cause I’m the cheerleader. I cheer everyone on, especially now that I’m more of a background manager now that Flynn’s the real manager,” I admit and she shakes her head.
“You’re part of the team too, even if you do more background stuff. Plus, I think of you more as our stylist than a cheerleader. Those shirts you used to make were awesome. Not to mention how you dressed the guys and me for the last gig,” she raves and I blush at all the praise.
“Oh
that was nothing, really,” I wave her compliment off and she shakes her head.
“Y/n, take the compliment. You're awesome at style,” she demands and I slowly smile while nodding.
“Ok
ok. Thank you,” I tell her shyly and she laughs.
“Now go try your new shoes out,” she jokes with me, rolling her eyes with a smile and I grin.
“Ok. See you later!” I wave at her and she waves back.
I quickly walk out of her room—when she opened the door I have no clue, probably when my head was buried in the closet—and I decide to just apparate to the garage. My feet lightly land on the garage floor and I quickly rush over to the couch.
I put the bumblebee striped socks on, then the shoes and smile when I finish tying them. I stand up and grin as I dance around a little bit. Soon I get bored waiting for the guys so I decide to figure out the guy’s clothes for the gig tonight.
I go up into the loft where all of our clothes are and look through Alex’s first. I find him a real nice light pink shirt, knowing he’d want his pink. I then look through his pants and find him one of his many pairs of black sweats.
I then go over to his new collection of fanny packs and find him a nice jean jacket style one. I lay that all out and look over it. I then grab one of his many snapback hats and add it in.
The blue of the snapback pairs perfectly with the fanny pack and I decide to let him pick shoes, making me smile as I’m satisfied with the outfit. I then move on to Luke’s outfit, starting with his favorite skull shirt and lay it out. I start to riffle through his pants when I hear the boys land downstairs from apparating.
“Sweetheart, where are you?” I hear Luke shout out and I smile.
“In the loft, Lukey!” I shout back and smile when I find the right pants.
“There you are. Come down and cuddle?” he asks me and I shake my head, smiling more.
“Sorry, Lukey boy. Can’t. I’ve still got yours, Reggie’s, and Julie's outfits to do before tonight,” I sadly tell him and he frowns.
“But
if you help me, maybe I can get them done faster,” I appeal to him and he takes a moment to think it over before his frown slowly turns to a smile.
“Deal,” he tells me and I smile softly at him as he comes closer.
“Ok. Do you want to finish your outfit then while I start on Regsters?” I ask and he laughs.
“What?” I ask him and he chuckles.
“You haven’t called Reggie Regsters since we were like ten,” he tells me with a smirk and I shrug.
“I guess I’m just feeling very nostalgic today,” I comment as I continue to put Reggie’s outfit together.
“Ok. I’m done with Reginald’s. Are you done with yours?” I ask as I turn around to look at him and again he has a smirk on.
“What is with you today? Old nicknames and full names?” he asks and I giggle as I look over what he’s added to his outfit.
“I really don’t know. I was hanging out with Jules today and for some reason it’s put me in a very weird happy and nostalgic mood,” I explain as I give his outfit a few minor changes.
When I finish his outfit I fully stand up and when I do, I hear him let out a gasp. I look at him and realize he’s looking down at my feet.
Tumblr media
I grin as I stand on my heels, letting my toes angle out before bringing them back in.
“Oh! Jules gave me ‘em. Aren’t they rockin’?” I ask and he gives me a sideways look.
“Sweetheart, don’t get me wrong, they are rockin’, but why are you wearing them? You hate shoes
” he asks me and I feel a blush creep up my neck.
“I really liked them and Julie told me I could have them, so I took them. Do you not like them? They match yours
” I tell him as I bite my lip as I look down at them.
“No. I love them. It’s just
I’m not used to seeing you wear shoes, sweetie,” he explains as he comes over to me.
“Oh
ok. I liked em ‘cause they matched yours. Not to mention they’re  too,” I meekly point out and I hear him chuckle.
“Is that all we had to do all these years to get you to wear shoes? Just find you a pair that matched mine?” he asks, making me look up at him and my breath gets caught in my throat with how close he is.
If I moved just a little bit more, my lips could touch his. Oh how badly I want to just surge forward and close the small distance, but I don’t. I look down at his lips before quickly looking back up at his eyes in hopes he didn’t catch it. To my relief, it seems like he didn’t.
“If that’s the case, we shoulda done that years ago,” he jokes and I just watch him as he keeps a smile on his face.
“Hey. What’s wrong?” he asks me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Oh
 nothing, I promise. Just
stuck in thought I guess,” I tell him with a shrug before going around him to try and go down the ladder.
“Hey. No. I know something is up, y/n. Come on, you can tell me,” he prompts me as he grabs my hand and pulls me back to him.
“Really. It’s nothing. I’m fine
” I try to lie the best I can, knowing he’ll read me like an open book.
“No. You’re not leaving till you tell me what’s wrong
” he informs as he again pulls me back, but this time he pulls me into a hug and holds me there.
“Lukey
come on. Let me go. I can’t talk to you about it, ok
?” I plead with him and he gives me a confused look.
“What can’t you tell me? You tell me everything, sweetheart. It’s ok. You can tell me,” he promises and I sigh, realizing he won’t be letting this go.
“I can’t tell you because it’s about you. You’ll stop talking to me and I don’t want that,” I admit in a fast jumble of words.
“What do you mean it’s about me? Did I do something to make you upset with me? I’m sorry if I did,” he quickly apologizes and I shake my head.
“Goodness no, Luke
 I
 uh
 like someone
” I tell him as I bite my lip and his face falls.
“Oh. So you’re
” he trails off and I nod.
“Yeah. I’m in love with you
” I admit sheepishly and his eyes widen.
“Wait, what?!” he asks and I give a nervous giggle.
“What did you think I meant?” I ask him and he chuckles.
“I thought you were trying to tell me you were going to go out with another guy. Ya know, dial everything back
” he explains with a slow smile making way to his face.
“Oh
 well, no
” I again nervously trail off and he chuckles again.
“Sweetheart, look at me please
” he asks me and I do, only to see him smiling.
“Wha-” I start off, but he cuts me off as he slams his lips to mine and I freeze.
The kiss lasts for a few minutes and it's exactly how I always dreamed of it. At first, Luke kisses me and I can’t move out of shock, but once I’ve snapped out of it I kiss him back. Our lips move in sync and it’s so full of love.
It’s nice and slow as Luke keeps his hands on my cheeks. My arms slowly wrap around his neck and I play with the hair at the nip of his neck. All too soon though, we are both pulling away for air.
He lays his forehead against mine as he now wraps his arms around my waist and mine stay around his neck. He gives me one last peck before he’s smiling, making me smile too.
“I’ve wanted to do that since fourth grade
” he whispers out as he nudges my nose with his.
“Well
why didn’t you?” I ask him with a giggle when his face scrunches up.
“Why didn’t you kiss me?” he sassily asks and I giggle again.
“Because I didn’t know how you felt. I didn’t want to risk losing you,” I admit and he chuckles, shaking his head.
“I had the same reasoning,” he admits and I grin before we both start laughing.
“Wait, so we’ve both been oblivious idiots this whole time?” I ask and he nods while still laughing.
“I could have told you that! As a matter of fact, I did!” Alex shouts from downstairs, making me and Luke laugh harder.
“Well, that’s definitely one way to do it,” I giggle out and Luke shrugs.
“I guess so, bee
” he says with a grin on his face and I immediately look down at my socks.
“You figured it out!” I excitedly exclaim and he nods, smiling.
“That I did. How could I forget about bee? Now if we had known that all we had to was get bumblebee striped socks and shoes that matched mine, maybe we would’ve had you in shows years ago,” Luke jokes with an eye roll and I scoff.
“Oh, shut up. At least now I’m just like you,” I tell him with a grin and he smiles more, if that’s even possible.
“Yes, you are and I love it,” he tells me with a smile before pulling me back to him by the waist.
“Can I kiss you again?” he asks and I giggle.
“Well you didn’t even ask the first time around, but you're lucky I love you or else it’d be a no,” I joke before realizing what I had actually said and I pause, waiting for his response.
“I love you too, sweetheart,” he replies with a big cheeky smile and I can’t help but smile with him.
“I’m going to kiss you now,” he jokingly tells me and I smile, nodding.
He leans forward and kisses me again. This time feels just like the first, so full of love and care. I smile into the kiss as does he before again we’re pulling away.
“You gonna come give me those cuddles now?” he asks and I laugh before playfully sighing.
“I guess we can go cuddle now
” I reply playfully and he grins.
“Ok. Come on,” he tells me and before I know it, I’m being pulled towards the ladder.
We make it down to the bottom and he pulls me over to his couch before he’s plopping down onto it. He looks up at me before holding his arms out and doing grabby hands like a five year old would. I laugh as I sit down on the couch.
He wraps his arms around me and I cuddle into his chest. I sigh when all he brings is a protective warmth over me. Soon before I know it, my eyes slowly drop and I’m off into dreamland, sleeping peacefully in my best friend's arms (well, boyfriend now, I guess). Only the peaceful sleep doesn’t last very long because soon I’m jumping awake.
“Are you wearing shoes?!” Alex shouts as I sleepily look up at him.
“Yes, I am. Now go away, I’m going back to sleep,” I grumble as I cuddle back into Luke, who lets out a small breathy laugh and that’s the last thing I hear before falling back into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Luke hadn’t intended to follow you to school. Frankly, he hadn’t planned on ever stepping into a school again. That time of his life was over, a time he missed but knew would never get back. He had come to terms with it, focusing on his music instead.
But from time to time it would hit him; the harsh reality that he would never talk to his parents again, never make up with his mother, never be touched again by someone except the guys from his band.
It hurt every time these thoughts dawned on him, but he pushed them aside, knowing he needed to be the strong one. The other boys needed him, so he couldn’t afford to be weak in front of them.
Despite, it didn’t matter anyway. Thinking about all the things he couldn’t do, the life he had missed out on wouldn’t change anything. He had thought he had dealt just fine, but then his birthday had come up.
He had watched his parents get together, blowing out the candle on the cake they had made while tears slipped down their faces. They held each other’s hands and he just wanted to touch them, hold onto them, and show them they weren’t alone. He was still there.
But he was just a ghost, unable to reach them. It broke his heart, hurt like it hadn’t hurt before.
But then you had showed up. You had given his parents the song he had written for them, for his mother. All the things he regretted saying and all the words that had never left his lips were captured in it, and he watched his mother’s chin tremble and his father sniff as their eyes darted over the page.
He had always known he was drawn to you, not just because you were the only one who could see the boys, but because of your kind heart, your warm smile, and jokes. You were special. He had known that even before he had first heard you sing, before he had read your song writing.
But in that moment, as he watched his family smile fondly through their tears, their pain raw but overtaken by love and a sense of gratitude, you watching them with tears shimmering in your own eyes, he knew he was hopelessly in love with you.
Hopelessly, because even if you liked him too, you could never be together. He couldn’t give you what you needed, what you deserved. Someone you could go out with in public or who you could introduce to your family. Someone to have a future with.
Someone to touch. He could never take your hand in his, never trail his fingers over your arm or caress your face, never run his fingers through your hair or hold you in his arms. He could never kiss you.
Luke had always been a physical person. His love language was touch, reaching out to someone to show them he was there. It was how he communicated with the other boys, not once thinking or caring how it could make him look.
Because despite his talent to write songs, Luke wasn’t good with words. Not in the moment anyway. He needed to think about them, twist them around in his head until they would form a beautiful prose for a song.
Not being able to touch you stung. The feeling grew stronger with each passing day, making him more desperate to feel you in some way. The two of you were deeply connected, not just through your music but through something else, something he couldn’t name but the boys would tease him with. Yet something was missing in that connection. Physical contact.
He knew it hurt you too, could see it in the way you reached out to him by accident before letting your hand fall back to your side, a tight smile on your lips as you tried to overplay what had happened.
You were one of the most optimistic people he knew, always trying to look at the bright side of life and giving the boys hope, but he could see you were hurting.
There was something on your mind you weren’t talking about. An invisible weight on your shoulders, you didn’t seem able to lose. He wanted to know what it was, wanted to know what he could do to help you, because seeing you upset hurt him just the same.
But he couldn’t ask you. He knew you would deny it, hide behind your smile again. He had considered going through your things, because there was no way you weren’t putting your feelings into song lyrics somewhere.
But although he didn’t regret going through your stuff in the beginning, after all it had led to the discovery that you were a songwriter too, a damn talented one, he couldn’t pretend it had been right either.
Over time the two of you had built a trust in each other he didn’t want to lose. Going through your things again, overstepping the line you had drawn, would destroy that trust. Maybe he would even lose you.
So he had to find another way to find out what caused your hurt. Following you around for a whole day had been an idea born out of boredom and a lack of inspiration for a song he was currently stuck on. He knew you, knew what your life was like, but did he really? You spend the first half of each day at school, a place he had never set a foot at.
You had never told the boys they weren’t allowed to show up at school, probably hadn’t thought it necessary to bring up, because they didn’t seem interested in your life as a student at all. So, it was the perfect opportunity for him to sneak past your border without betraying you.
Now, as he was following you into the big building from a distance, he suddenly felt a little nervous. The halls were crowded, filled with students standing at their lockers, making plans for the weekend, and chatting over their exams while heading to their classes. And, of course, gossiping. He hadn’t missed that part of high school.
Seeing you in the middle of them, your books clutched to your chest as you peeked into your locker, reminded him of how different the two of you truly were. You had a real life you had to live, a life aside from the music. You had a future ahead of you, something he would never have.
Luke shook his head as if he could shake those thoughts away. This was about finding out what troubled you, not about him and his own personal issues. You had been there for him through his lowest, now he wanted to do the same for you.
He pushed past the students, ignoring the way he slipped through them instead of bumping into each one. You were just closing your locker as someone walked up to you, a girl he realized, long wavy hair falling over her shoulders. Another girl and a boy joined her and he wondered how many friends you had, friends you couldn’t share with them.
But when you turned around, your eyes falling onto the group standing behind you, he saw you froze. Your jaw clenched and your eyes grew dull, suddenly missing the spark he adored so much. He stepped closer, keeping enough distance so you wouldn’t notice him, but needing to hear what they had to say.
He could see your body slumping under their gazes, the proud posture you had when you were performing replaced by what looked like you were making yourself smaller.
It was in that moment he realized you were afraid of them, of what they had to say. His heart clenched as he took another step forward, wanting to move to stand by your side but knowing he couldn’t.
“Hey, (y/n)!” The girl with the long hair spoke up, her voice loud, radiating confidence. You didn't react, waiting for her to continue but he could see you were clutching your books a little tighter, your knuckles turning white.
"I heard you signed up for the talent show." Luke tensed as he heard what this was about.
You were currently practising with the band for the show, the first one you would attend as a band. While Luke doubted it would get them far career wise, considering it was only a school event, he knew how important it was for you and in that sense for the whole band.
You had only recently begun to sing and compose songs again. When the boys had first met you, you had been hesitant to share your passion with them, convinced you weren't good enough.
It had taken them a lot of effort to make you believe in yourself and your abilities. Though music was your passion, it was something very vulnerable for you, something personal you were afraid to share with everyone else.
Luke got that in some way. While he couldn't wait to share a new melody, a new line, or a whole song with everyone who would listen, some lines were harder than others to put out into the world.
Music was his way of dealing with his emotions, a way to let out his feelings and cope with them. You were like him in that way and opening up to someone didn't come easy to either of you.
Writing music was one thing, but sharing such vulnerable lines with everyone else, a world full of people ready to judge, or worse, a school full of teenagers, was another.
So when you had briefly mentioned the talent show, the boys had agreed it was the perfect way for you to start sharing your music with other people than the boys.
It had taken a lot of convincing and a pep talk from Luke he was still proud of to get you to sign up and feel a little hopeful about it. Maybe even a bit excited.
Now he feared everything they had worked so hard on would be crushed by an envious teenage girl and he could only stand by and watch.
“The talent show- that’s a joke, right? I mean, you can’t even sing in front of our music class. Now imagine singing in front of the whole school.” The girl shuddered visibly. “That would be so awkward, am I right?” She turned towards her friends, who nodded eagerly in agreement.
“I am so embarrassed for you just by the fact that you actually thought you stood a chance. (Y/n) and talent show. That are two words that shouldn’t even be in the same sentence together!” She let out a chuckle, her friends joining in.
“That are actually more than two words”, Luke heard you mutter under your breath and although he was churning with rage at the audacity the group had to talk to you like that, he couldn’t help a proud smile creeping onto his face.
The girl sucked in a breath, clearly irritated by your words. “Seems like she’s too dumb to get the message”, she snorted, taking a step closer towards you. Involuntary you stepped back, stumbling a little when your back hit the locker and causing the group to break into laughter.
“You don’t belong here (y/n)! Nobody wants you here, anyway. You’re just taking up space. It’s pathetic! But what is even more pathetic is watching you think you have a chance at the contest, even though you’re literally the most untalented person I know.”
You gulped and Luke could see tears brimming in your eyes. He stepped forward, his hands balled into fists, though he knew it was useless. All he could touch was air.
“When will you finally see the truth like everyone else does? No one likes you and no one will ever like you! Not every duckling will turn into a swan, some just stay, well, ugly and weird." The girl giggled, smoothing down the hem of her dress as she finally stepped away.
“Bye, bye and enjoy your day, loser!”
Tossing her hair she marched away, her friends close on her heels. You were left standing at your locker, your bocks still tightly pressed to your chest as you fought back the tears.
Luke’s heart broke for you; the injustice he had just witnessed making him burn with rage. He hadn’t thought of you as the popular girl, but he had considered you had many friends and secret admirers, since you were funny, smart, kind-hearted, beautiful, and incredibly talented.
It turned out that those same traits were the reason you were on your own, the other students envying you for them. For your talent.
Looking at you he was certain this wasn’t the first time something like it had happened and it made him wonder how long this had been going on for. A few days? Weeks? Maybe even months?
How often had you hid behind your smile, had convinced them you were fine when you clearly weren’t?
It frustrated Luke beyond belief that he couldn’t say anything to your defence, tell those bullies just how pathetic it was to try and pull you down by saying such hurtful things. You deserved to have someone by your side, someone who stood up for you and had your back. You shouldn’t be alone.
But the best he could do was follow those bullies and scare them like they had done to get back at Billy. It didn’t feel enough, felt childish even, now that he thought about it. It might scare them, but it wouldn’t stop them from targeting you.
Maybe he could write something down, something like a threat so they would stop terrorising you, but there was a risk they would blame you for it. It might only make things worse for you and he didn’t want to take that chance. Not when it came to you.
It pained him to admit how helpless he truly was, but he tried to focus on the one thing he could do instead. He could be there for you.
“Hey.” His voice was soft as he spoke to you, stepping closer towards you. You flinched violently, turning towards him with big eyes. “Luke! What are you doing here?”
You tried to keep your voice down, not wanting to draw attention to the fact that you were speaking with what looked like pure air to everyone else, but he could still hear the alarm in it.
Luke bit his lip, conflicted over his next words. He wanted to be there for you, not cause you to be even more upset, especially at him. “I um-”, he scratched the back of his neck, suddenly unsure of himself, “I followed you”, he admitted, and he could see the disbelief in your eyes mixed with disappointment.
“Why would you do that?”, you asked wearily, suddenly pulling out your phone and holding it to your ear to mimic a phone call. You had done that before when the three of you had spent a day at the beach together, causing people to look at the girl who was talking to air.
It seemed to do the trick, because the moment their gazes fell onto the phone in your hands, they lost interest. Luke couldn’t deny he was impressed by it.
“You seemed off the past days. I just wanted to know what was going on. Please don’t be mad.” He was using his heart eyes on you now, something that had gotten him out of trouble countless of times before.
You let out an exasperated sigh, but your eyes visibly softened. “You could have just asked me”, you pointed out, causing him to raise his brows slightly. “Would you have told me the truth?”, he asked, and you bit your lip. “Probably not”, you confessed, and it seemed like you weren’t upset at him anymore.
For a moment it was silent between the two of you, your previous anger now turning into embarrassment. He could tell you were wondering just how much he had witnessed.
“I saw it all”, he clarified for you. He saw your body tense up at his words, your cheeks turning slightly red as you cast your eyes to the ground. You were ashamed, just like you had been when he had first found one of your songs, reading out the lyrics to you to try and prove how beautiful they sounded.
“Are you okay?”, he added gently, taking another step forward but stopping himself from reaching out to you. You nodded, but your eyes didn’t meet his. “I should go to class”, you told him, peaking over his shoulder. He shook his head, falling into step beside you when you walked past him.
“No, you shouldn’t. You should talk about what just happened.” You didn’t slow down. “Nothing happened so there is nothing to talk about.” “You know that’s not true!”
Luke leaped forward, blocking your way but you just walked through him. “Hey!” He caught up to you, wondering how else he could bring you to a halt. “Can you look at me for a second? Please?”
Your lips were pressed into a thin line, displaying your impatience, but you followed his request. When your eyes met another wave of sadness engulfed you, the tears returning as you were taken aback by his gentle expression. The way he looked at you, so loving and caring, so raw, was what caused cracks in your composure.
You tried to blink the tears away but failed.
The sight of a girl crying might have sent him running in the past. He wasn’t good at dealing with feelings, coped with his own through his music, so he had never trusted himself enough to try to comfort someone.
He feared he would say the wrong thing, preferred to make jokes to doge the tension that came with heavy emotions, telling himself that Alex could deal with it instead. He was the emotional one, the empathetic one.
But he couldn’t rely on the others all the time. Especially when it came to you, he felt he didn’t want to. He wanted to be the one you trusted enough to open up to, wanted to be the one who could make you feel understood. The person you turned to when things got heavy, who could cheer you up.
He would do anything to get you to smile again, so he decided that was what he was going to do. No more running from his problems, disappearing whenever he felt like it.
The bell had rung out a while ago, signalling that classes were about to start and the corridors were emptying visibly.
“Is there somewhere we can talk in private?”, Luke asked, thinking you knew your school better and could lead him to a quiet spot where no one would question a girl talking to thin air.
You nodded, leading him down a few corridors into a dark lit room.
He gazed around, noting you were behind what looked like a stage. He wondered if you had chosen the place by accident, or if it had to do with the upcoming show.
Either way, being backstage felt different from standing in the crowded hallways and he felt himself relax a little. Here he felt much more like himself again.
You sat down onto the floor, leaning your back against the wall, and hugging your knees into your chest. He had thought he would have to convince you to skip class, but it seemed you didn’t care anymore. When he looked down at you, you looked so small and fragile, so different from the person you were when you were performing.
Luke slid into the spot next to you, careful not to brush against you but not leaving much space between the two of you. He wanted to be there for you as much as he could and that included being as close as possible.
“You know that’s not true, right?” He didn’t miss a second, didn’t try to beat around the bush. “What that girl said to you...she just wanted to get to you, make you feel insecure and bad about yourself! “
You looked up at him, a few tears running down your cheeks. “But she’s right”, you sniffed, your voice breaking a little. “No one wants me here. I don’t belong here.”
Luke frowned, fidgeting at the energy that came with the urge to convince you otherwise and get through to you. “That’s so far from the truth!”
You peeked up at him through your tears. “Really? Then how come no one in this school cares about me. I don’t even have real friends here.”
“You have us”, Luke offered, but you shook your head. “That doesn’t count. You’re ghosts.” He flinched a little at your words and your face immediately twisted in regret.
“I didn’t mean it that way. You know how grateful I am for you. You make my life so much better. The band, the music we make...it feels like it’s giving me a purpose again. But I have another life too, one where I can’t rely on my ghost friends.”
Luke nodded slowly, knowing you were right. Although he felt the drive to tell you to screw everything and just focus on music, the rational part of him knew that other things in your life mattered too.
That was the difference between the two of you: you had a life outside of the music while his life was his music.
“I don’t know if I can perform at the talent show. Not when everyone wants me to fail.” You sniffed again and Luke gulped as your pain settled in his own chest.
“Those girls want you to fail because they feel threatened by how amazing you are. How gifted! That’s why you gotta show them what you got during the show. And I guarantee you, afterwards everyone will see your talent and want to be your friend.”
“You sound so sure about it”, you chuckled, wiping at your tears and Luke smiled proudly at you. “That’s because I am.”
You tilted your head at him, curiosity written over your face. “How can you always be so sure about everything?” The smile spread over his lips easily, lighting up his face.
“You’re smart, funny, and selfless. You’re beautiful and insanely talented! They just haven’t seen that yet. Of course, everyone will want to be friends with you once they realize that! That’s how I know.” His smile had turned from a goofy one into a fond one, but he didn’t try to hide it.
Your tears had stopped flowing and you were looking at him like you were in awe, something he hoped was a sign he wasn’t screwing this up entirely.
But as you kept staring at him, not saying a word he suddenly felt his nerves flare up again. Perhaps he had been too quick with his assessment, and he had said something wrong.
But what?
He wrecked his brain for anything, but his pounding heart and your eyes on him were making it hard to think straight. Just as he wanted to ask you, if he had said something wrong, your blinked, your lips turning up into one of your smiles, which always filled him with warmth.
“Thank you, Luke!” Your eyes were bright as you looked at him, and he couldn’t help but return your smile with one of his own. “Anything for you”, he muttered, turning his torso so he was now sitting next to you, head leant against the wall and facing the backside of the stage.
It was quiet for a moment, but not in a way which longed for words. It was a silence that felt comfortable and put him at ease, his mind wandering off to form words into lines in his head.
You sat like that for a while, both of you engulfed by a peaceful silence that allowed him to write the beginning of a song in his head. It was so easy, the words coming to him without an effort, and he could feel himself growing excited as the first part began to come together.
Luke was so caught up in his head, in the lines he was rearranging in his head, that he didn’t feel the weight on his shoulder. Just as he decided his idea was worth sharing, he snapped back into reality, a reality where your head was resting on his shoulder.
“(Y/n)! Oh my god!”, he breathed, not wanting to startle you but not being able to hide his excitement. “What?”, you muttered, seemingly unwilling to give up your comfortable position. “You didn’t slip through me!”
You furrowed your brows, but a second later your eyes flew open, your head shooting up as you looked at him with wide eyes. “I didn’t slip through you!”, you repeated, the excitement he felt mirrored in your voice.
“Oh my god Luke! This is- this is huge!” You stared at each other in shock, suddenly unable to form coherent sentences. “I felt you and you were warm!”, you gushed, and he couldn’t contain his big smile. “I felt you too!”
He didn’t care that you were grinning at each other like idiots, didn’t care how it was possible, he could only focus on the pure happiness he felt. He slowly reached out, taking your hand into his. It was soft and warm.
You shared another look, both of you beaming with excitement at the newfound connection. “Can I?”, Luke asked as he slowly reached for your face. You nodded, both of you holding your breath as he gently tucked a strand of hair behind your ear before running his fingers over your cheek.
He could see the tears in your eyes again, but your smile told him they were happy tears, something he didn’t have to worry about. When he lowered his hand, it was your turn to reach out, taking his face gently into your hands.
Tears sprung to his eyes as he felt your warm fingertips on his cheeks, the softest touch on his cheekbones. “How is this possible?”, you whispered, but he didn’t care, didn’t want to think about the possibility of losing this again.
The relief he felt at being able to touch you was so big he doubted he would be able to let go of you anytime soon. How could he, if the next time he tried to touch you he could slip right past you again?
But you didn’t seem to mind as you let go of his face only to wrap your arms around him in a tight embrace. He didn’t hesitate to lock his arms behind your upper back, pulling you into his chest. He couldn’t believe he was holding you, holding another person, someone who was alive.
What did it mean for him? Was there a chance for him at a life again?
His thoughts were racing, so he tried to focus on one thing, the one that had brought him peace just moments ago. “I just wrote something in my head”, he whispered against your hair. “You wanna heart it?”
“Yes!” He smiled to himself before growing serious again as he focused on the words.
“So your confidence is quiet
To them, quiet looks like weakness
But you don't have to fight it
'Cause you're strong enough to win without a war
Every heart has a rhythm
Let yours beat out so loudly
That everyone can hear it
Yeah, I promise you don't need to hide it anymore
Oh, and never be afraid of doing something different
Dare to be something more.”

A/N: Hope you enjoy it! MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“Hey my name’s Charlie Gillespie and I’m auditioning for the role of Luke.”
“Hi, I’m Y/n Y/l/n and I’m auditioning for the role of Flynn.” You slated, giggling at the camera nervously.
“I feel like we just knew that Y/n was going to be a great additional character to the plot. She came to us, like Madison, fresh and new. She wasn’t as familiar with the industry like Owen, Charlie and Jeremy were, but there was a lot to work off of.” Kenny told the camera.
“I barely remember the audition, I was so nervous when I went.” You laughed, Charlie next to you. “I had originally auditioned for Flynn
not what you thought huh?” You laughed. “I can’t remember what it was that Kenny had said, but he said something about how I wasn’t the image he needed for Flynn. The energy for her wasn’t there.” You smiled. “I just knew
I knew I wasn’t gonna get it.” You trailed off, but then smiled. “But then the call back happened
”
“When Y/n first came to us. She had auditioned for Flynn. She did an incredible job, she had her lines memorized. It was amazing
but it wasn’t what we were looking for. Yet I knew just as I did for Madison and Sacha, there was real potential, this being her first time too. We couldn’t give her up. So we gave her a call-back.” Kenny smiled.
“I think it was a Friday afternoon, when I got the call. I was probably watching tv or something.” You shrugged. “I heard my phone ring and I answered, and it was Kenny Ortega
at that point I was like what?” You emphasized. “It’s not everyday the Kenny Ortega phones you.” You smiled. “We talked and he was like we want you to come back for a chemistry read, and I just completely lost it.” Your eyes grew wide. “He was like, see ya Monday.” You giggled.
“The day of the chemistry readings. We had brought in Madison, Jeremy, Owen, and Charlie. They were the ones we were looking at the moment, but we really wanted to see just how well they all worked off each other, and they worked greatly. Yet, this is where we had brought in Y/n.” Kenny nodded. “And it was the right choice.”
“I showed up that Monday, completely unsure what was going to happen. I was so scared.” You waved your hands around.
“I remember Madi walking up to you first, then Owen and Jeremy followed.” Charlie added biting his lip.
“Madi was so sweet. Everyone was so nice. She was the first one to welcome me. She made me feel
feel at home right away.” You smiled remembering how she hugged you and made you feel comfortable. “She’s the best.”
“The day of the chemistry readings. Y/n was so nervous she almost curled into this shell, but Madi saw her right away, and sort of said ‘hey come over here’, I knew that this was going to be a great day.” Kenny crossed his arms over his chest. “Owen and Jeremy invited her into the group right away saying words of encouragement
and then there was Charlie.” Kenny shook his head.
“Charlie is such a flirt. He liked my shoes.” You laughed. You looked down at them.
“So the day of the chemistry readings. I kind of flirted with her.” He bit his lower lip. “I could tell how nervous she was, so I tried making her at ease.”
“He walked up to me and was like ‘hey I like your converse’.” You pointed to demonstrate. “They were two colors at the time.” You raised your leg to show them your shoes. “It was so funny to me that I had responded with ‘I like your suspenders’. What was that outfit, Charlie?” Your eyes widened. “Nothing matched!”
“Just seeing them interact that first time. I knew they were going to be great together. The two just bounced off of each other so well, I had to see what they were going to do or say when we let them do a little improv
”
-
“Hey skits, you coming to see us play tonight?” Charlie smirked.
“Are you gonna be face planting, now that’s worth watching.” You laughed walking away.
“No
” Charlie ran in front of you. “but, there’s gonna be awesome music, and hopefully an even awesome girl there.” Charlie bit his lip.
“I’ll pass.” You moved around him, but he stopped you by the arm. “You wanna keep that hand?”
“Come on Skits, what’s it gonna take for you to come. I know I’m not famous yet, but you won’t regret it, swear.” Charlie smiled.
“How about a shiner, Rockstar.” You inched closer to Charlie’s face. Closing your fist. “It’ll fit your whole look.” You looked at his hand, and he let go. You took a step away from him and turned around. Then glanced over your shoulder. “I’ll think about it, Rockstar.” You smirked at him, then walked off the small stage that was set up. Charlie stayed in character and brought his elbow and fist into him as a yes’.
Kenny and the rest of everyone there applauding you.
-
“The Skits and Rockstar nicknames are what did it for me. I instantly knew where Charlie came up with Skits because Y/n had been eating skittles before they started their improv act. And Y/n calling him Rockstar, just fit so well into the character we wanted her to have. They worked so well together, that we had to try one more thing.” Kenny added.
“Okay we just wanted to try out one more thing okay.” Kenny brought you and Charlie together. Charlie had his electric guitar in his hands. “We would like you to sing for us.”
“I felt that I was done for at that moment. I couldn’t play an instrument, I couldn’t sing that well, and Kenny Ortega wanted me to sing. It was terrifying
” You blew a raspberry. “I think he had Charlie with me to ease my nerves a little bit
I was so nervous.”
“Anything requests?” You laughed nervously.
“Just sing whatever you want. Anything that comes to mind.” Kenny nodded at you.
“The moment he said anything, I just went with whatever came to mind, and boy was it a random.” You chuckled. “Charlie just went along with it.”
“Do you believe in magic, in a young girl’s heart. How the music can free her. Whenever it starts, and it’s magic. If the music is groovy. It’s makes you feel happy like an old time movie.” You moved your shoulders as Charlie started playing notes on his electric. He smiled as he realized what you had started singing. “I’ll tell ya about the magic. It’ll free your soul. But it’s like trying to tell a stranger ‘bout rock n roll.” You growled. “If you believe in magic, don’t bother to choose. If it’s jug band music or rhythm and blues. Just go and listen.” You placed a hand by your ear and smiled. “It’ll start with a smile. It won’t wipe off your face no matter how hard you try. Your feet start tapping, and you can’t seem to find, how you got there, so just blow your mind.” Charlie let loose playing a riff. “If you believe in magic come along with me. We’ll dance until morning, ‘til there’s just you and me, and maybe, if the music the right. I’ll meet ya tomorrow. Sort of late at night. We’ll go a-dancin’, baby, then you’ll see. How the magic’s in the music and the music’s in meeeee, yeah.” You tilted your head back. “Do you believe in magic? Yeah. Believe in the magic of a young girl’s soul. Believe in the magic of rock n roll. Believe in the magic that can set you free. Ohh, talkin’ bout magic. Do you believe like I believe? Do you believe in magic? Do you believe like I believe? Do you believe in magic?”
-
“The minute she started singing the cover of Do You Believe in Magic by Aly & AJ, I was sold. I remember everyone just looking at her and Charlie, their chemistry was astonishing. It was truly
magical.” Kenny chuckled.
You blushed as everyone clapped for you and Charlie. Kenny walked up to you and held your hands.
“Give me a name, any name, just say one.”
“Any?” You furrowed your brows finding his question odd.
“Any.” Kenny nodded at you.
“Ummm
” You thought for a second, then remember the movie you saw that last weekend. “J-Jamie.”
“Jamie it is.” Kenny nodded laughing as your expression started changing. “Everyone this is our Jamie!” He introduced you to the crew and cast. “Congrats sweetheart. You earned it well.” You gasped cupping your mouth as tears started forming in your eyes. “Are you serious?” You cried. Charlie laughed and cried as well. He walked over and spun you around in his arms. “Oh my god!” You cried into Charlie’s chest.
“You’re amazingly talented and incredible, remember that pretty girl.” Charlie muttered into your neck.
“Oh and yeah you guys are our band.” Kenny walked over to the stage and told Owen, Jeremy, and Madison. Their expressions turned into shocked ones like yours. Everyone cried and hugged that day.
-
“It was a dream come true.” You laughed as Charlie brought you into his side, pecking your temple.
“I got my dream right here, all thanks to Kenny.” Charlie kissed your head this time.

Costume Department - Charlie Gillespie x Reader
Tumblr media
JATP Masterlist
Request: Hiii! I was wondering if you could write a story for me. I was thinking something about Charlie X reader where the reader is related to someone from the cast and she would do something on the set of JatP? And one day she would be talking with girls and realised that she loves Charlie and they get together. You could do it smut if you want. Oh, and I almost forgot, could they conceive a baby if it isn't too much to ask for... Thanks a lot, I love your writing so much ❀
Warnings: Swearing, sexual tension, make out scene
Words: 2286
A/N: I kind of omitted the second half of the request just because I’m not in the headspace of writing a quality smut rn, and without the smut I didn't know how to add conception so... hope that’s okay?
My aunt is new to the scene of costume designing for Netflix, but since her first two projects went so wonderfully, she’s becoming a part of their heavy rotation for designers. I loved the styling she did for To All The Boys and couldn’t wait to see more. That’s why as soon as Julie and The Phantoms dropped, I was waiting for its arrival by repeatedly refreshing my browser on premiere night. She hadn’t told me anything about the show, just sent me a couple sketches and they were so different from anything I’d ever seen her do. It was captivating.
I’ve been wanting to study fashion and specifically design and styling in film, somewhat following in her footsteps.
Mom isn’t so enthused by the idea of me going to school for fashion. It’s my second semester of Gen ed classes, and she’s constantly reminding me that I don’t need to study for a career in fashion and that I should ‘get a practical degree’. I think that’s why I’ve grown so close to my aunt: she’s my gateway into the industry and thus, a way to show my mom that my dreams are practical.
But
dreams can’t be practical without hardwork. So as I sit down to watch the show, I have my sketch pad in hand, working on a new style for characters from other tv shows I’ve watched. I’m focused on my drawing as I hear the Netflix tag preceding the show. Tuning out for a small moment, I hear a brief guitar riff followed by the rapid clacking of drumsticks, and I’m pulled from my intense concentration as a full-on rock song begins blasting from my laptop.
Looking up from my design, I see a four-piece composed of some boys that can’t be much older than I am. Once the camera cuts close to frame a sleeveless, brunette boy with an incredible voice, I lose track of any and all thoughts I had concerning the outfit design in my hands. When he beckoned the boy with the red bass over with a giddy smile, I knew I was done for. He was undeniably cute. The absolute joy he gets from performing and the messy pieces of hair that stick to his glistening face lead me to pause the show and immediately text my aunt.
MESSAGES
Y/n: Are you going to be the designer for the next season too? Aunt Casey: I haven’t gotten confirmation as to whether there will be a season two or not, but I have started sketching up new outfit designs for safe keeping.
Studying costuming is my passion, and working with her would not only be a dream come true... but I also just have to meet that boy.
Y/n: By any chance could I work with you on some designs and maybe styling potentially on set? Aunt Casey: I’ll see what I can do ;)
That’s code for I can’t say yes but I want to say yes. Right? Snapping out of my spiral, I hit play on the show and continue to watch the band perform their hearts out. The next few hours, I’d spent investing myself in the show and its characters, my costume designs long forgotten. I’m dying laughing at episode 4’s gay panic and crying my eyes out at episode 8’s character exposition. Once the show ends with that massive cliffhanger, I immediately text my aunt all my thoughts and endless slew of enthusiastic ideas.
When she eventually got the confirmation for season two, she let me know right away that she had asked about potentially creating an unofficial position for me. The following week was hell as I couldn’t stop thinking about what it would be like to style the different cast members, and create designs with my aunt. As you can imagine I was stoked to learn that I could work with her and her styling team for the next season. And filming was during the summer, so I wouldn’t have to miss school to do it! Not very many things are in the stars for me, but this was surely one of them.
Two painstakingly long months of a gazillion sketches, and re-re-returning to the drawing board later, I found myself in the driver's seat of my car, parked outside the sound stage where season two of Julie and The Phantoms would begin filming today at 8 AM. My aunt has been on set setting up for maybe an hour, but told me to come in later, knowing I’m not a morning person.
Sliding out of the front seat, I toss my bag over my right shoulder, a warm drink in my left hand, and I lock my car behind me. All stereotypes alluding to the truth, Canada is unnecessarily colder than I would like it to be. At least we’re filming inside. Once I’m at the stage door, I give security my name and my aunt's name and they check me off as I enter the building. It’s well lit to help guide the crew around the space, but that’ll have to change during actual filming. Locating the wardrobe trailers was a lot easier than I anticipated, and I knocked on the door gently before entering.
“Y/n! Just in time, I need you to steam these pieces here while I set out accessories and such.” I don’t give a verbal response but Aunt Casey knows I heard her. I’m not very talkative when groggy, and I haven’t even eaten so I’m probably not the nicest person right now. Setting my stuff down and taking a quick sip of my drink to defrost, I sit down on the floor and begin steaming what looks like a romper. Fifteen minutes later, I’m finally coming to my senses and making conversation with my aunt.
“But yeah, apparently the reason why our school got banned from Universal Studios was because some kids brought coke into the park during one of the grad nights.”
“Who’s doing coke and then hopping on roller coasters?”
“I don’t know but now we’re banned for like 7 years.”
“Y/n, babe, would you go find craft services and snag a water bottle for me?”
“What happened to the one I got you for christmas?” I ask, turning off the steamer and rising from my spot on the floor.
“I forgot it on the kitchen counter. It was filled and everything.”
“You’re a disaster,” I laugh before clicking the door to the trailer open, and stepping down the steep, metal stairs. Holding my phone in both hands, I unlock the device and open my messages app. In my ‘best friends’ group chat, I’ve been promising them updates on my day and honestly, the next few months of filming. After forcing them to watch the show, they too fell in love with the sweet story line, Julie’s killer voice, the boys’ killer looks, and the breathtaking choreography all completely unique to the series. Needless to say, they’re all as excited as I am.
MESSAGES
Y/n: so far so good I’ve been on set for about 20 (?) and just sitting in the floor steaming costumes. Hoe #1: Whose costumes?? Y/n: No idea. It’s a romper looking thing and a few shirts, but based on the style of each I’m guessing Flynn and Alex Rat Bastard: You’re so fucking lucky omg Hoe #1: If you mysteriously go missing in the next 24 hours, I’ll rise to the occasion and take your place Y/n: I hate y’all
My eyes are glued to my phone, but I sense someone walking past me and make sure to dodge them as they pass. I’m laughing at the text messages and so lost in typing my reply I’m not looking where I’m going and smack head on into someone else. Hard. I grip my hands in fear of shattering my phone, and as I do the person I ran into grabs onto my forearms.
“Oh fuck!” I jump, immensely startled by having hit them so hard. “I’m so sorry I wasn-” My sentence is cut short by the shock that settles in my chest. Charlie.
From behind me, I hear gentle laughter, and look over my shoulder to see it was Owen that I had dodged just moments before. Charlie and I had both been on our phones not paying attention to where we were going, and Owen seemingly aware of Charlie’s error finds the situation amusing.
“Are you okay?” Charlie asks, slightly startled as well, but also somewhat amusedly irritated with Owen.
“I’m okay, I think. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m good.” His laugh is so much more adorable in person.
“Okay.”
“Okay,” he repeats to me. Letting go of my forearms, he releases me and I awkwardly side step to resume my path to craft services as quickly as possible. Speed walking away, I hear some sort of hushed chattering and then another burst of laughter, which makes me walk faster out of panic.
MESSAGES
Y/n: Y’all aren’t gonna fucking believe this
It’s been about three weeks since I’ve started working on the set of Julie and the Phantoms, and pretty much all of my relationships blossomed beautifully. The boys were being all weird and secretive earlier so Madi, Jadah, Sav, and I decided to sit at our own table because who needs boys?
...us apparently.
“I wish the guys were being normal today.”
“So Y/n-” I look up from my plate with inquisical raised brows. “What’s the deal with you and Charlie?” Madison tilts her head mischievously.
“What do you mean?” I ask, shovelling a forkful of rice in my mouth.
“The flirty touches, the lingering eye contact, hanging out for hours off set, should I go on?”
“We’re just being friendly, Mads.” The three girls nod, unconvinced. “Excuse me?”
“You two have unbridled sexual tension.”
“SHHH oh my gosh!” I hush Jadah, incredibly embarrassed. “They can hear us, they're only like ten feet away.”
“Deadass, do you like him?” They drop silent, eager for my response, and once they fall quiet, I realize the other table has gone into a hushed whisper. Glancing up, I see Charlie’s turned over his shoulder, his tongue pokes between his teeth in a big smile before he turns around to continue talking with the guys. And of course, Madison witnessed the whole exchange.
“You so like him. And even if you don’t, he sure as hell likes you.”  The rest of our table jumps into conversation about the song we’re filming later, but I don’t join in. I look back up to the guys table, and they’re all invested in their conversation except Charlie. Once he notices me looking at him, he shoots me a wink and laughs. I quickly look away, flustered by his blatant flirting. Hopefully he didn't hear what we were saying. Looking back up again, Charlie is still smiling at me but once we lock eyes again, he playfully shakes his head and then turns back to his conversation with Jeremy and Owen.
The way my heart flutters in my chest every time he looks at me makes me think the little school girl crush I had on him is a lot bigger than I thought. These feelings that I’d accumulated from the show were only solidified once I got to know Charlie personally. Does he actually like me though? Are we all just projecting?
Shaking the thoughts from my mind, we finish up lunch, and since Julie and Flynn start us off after lunch ends, the younger two leave me and Savannah. That is, until she has to go be re-wigged for her next scene. So I’m left alone at the lunch table, playing on my phone until I decide to head back to the wardrobe trailer. Once inside, I notice that there’s nobody in here, they’re probably all on set. Well, almost everybody.
“Hey.”
“Oh, Hi.” I notice Charlie in the corner of the trailer, lounging on the vinyl material that covers the minimal seating area. I decide ‘why not be bold?’ and sit down on the opposite end of the trailer bench, facing Charlie.
“What are you up to?”
“Killing time until my aunt needs my help again. What are you doing in here?” Charlie simply shrugs. Looking down, he notices that, on the threads of my ripped jeans, several safety pins are clipped on for when costumes need fixing. Extending a gentle hand, Charlie rests the heel of his palm against my leg and toys with the tiny pieces of metal.
“Can I help you?” He smiles up at me.
“No, just havin’ fun.”
“Right.”
We sit in silence for a solid few moments. Comfortably just taking one another in, and watching Charlie play with the safety pins on my jeans.
“We overheard you guys during lunch.” I knew this was coming.
“Which part?”
“‘Unbridled sexual tension’” He quotes Jadah much to my dismay.
“Of course that’s what you heard.”
“Do we?”
“What?”
“Do we have unbridled sexual tension?” I bite my bottom lip unsure of whether or not I should answer how I want to.
“Do you think we have unbridled sexual tension?”
Charlie hesitates a second before deciding to lean forward and capture my lips in his, and placing his hands on my waist. I deepen the kiss joyously albeit startled. The kiss is anything but chaste as I thread one hand through the back of his hair, gently gripping on and tugging the strands. The gesture earns a whining sound of approval from Charlie, and his hands trail upwards to hold my still fully-clothed tits in his hands.
“We’re at work Charlie.”
“What are they gonna do? Fire us?”

My hands pressed to your cheeks

OR READ HERE BELOW
Charlie smiles, watching the sunlight dance on Y/N’s face, almost like little splashes of golden paint. She hums to whatever song is playing through her earphones, a faint smile teasing the corners of her lips. Her eyes are closed, and Charlie marvels at how peaceful and serene she looks. Her h/c hair surrounds her head like a halo, and he is tempted to reach forward and press a kiss to her temple.
He doesn’t do that, of course. Instead, he gets up from his couch and joins Y/N on the floor, lying beside her. Her eyelashes flutter at his movement and quaint, kind e/c eyes hold his stare, eyebrows raised in question.
“I thought you said that you were too mighty for the floor.” She teases, biting her lower lip to hide a smile. Charlie almost melts at that.
“I never said that. Is everything okay up there?” He points his index finger at her head.
The young woman of nineteen laughs mockingly. “Why, afraid you’re rubbing off your crazy on me?”
Charlie rolls his eyes, and shifts closer to her, their arms touching slightly – and even that slight touch makes him feels butterflies in his stomach. It’s not uncommon, of course. Ever since he realized that he is indeed in love with her, anything that she does gives him butterflies. He doesn’t mind, of course – but he hates the fact that he is unable to tell her what effect she has on him. So, he resorts to ignoring or suppressing everything he feels for his little sister’s best friend instead.
She pulls out an ear pod from her left ear and shoves it into Charlie’s ear. Eastside. She’s had this song on repeat, ever since she came to visit him in Vancouver, where he’s filming for the first season of Julie and The Phantoms.
“I love this song. Reminds me of my first boyfriend. Remember him?” She says, softly.
“Aaron. How could I forget? You begged me to cover for you at home so you could hang out with him.” He says, smiling softly at the memory. They were so young, Y/N just fourteen, and him sixteen. He remembers Y/N sitting beside him on the couch while he was watching a movie, all flushed and bothered, eyes continuously flitting to Charlie. He remembers saying, “I know you’re dying to tell me something.”
She had nodded, looking around the Gillespies’ living room where they were currently seated in, apprehensively. “Promise me you won’t tell anyone.”
He had jutted out his pinky finger and wrapped it around hers. “Never.”
“I think I really, really, super-duper like Aaron.”
“Aaron as in your next-door neighbor?”
  “Yep.”
Charlie had smirked. “He’s such a dork. I can’t believe that you like him.”
“Shut up, Char. He’s the sweetest.”
He chuckled. “His hobby is taking pictures of trees
if that doesn’t scream ‘dork’, then I don’t know what does.”
She had glared at him while Megan had entered the room, plopping down on the couch beside Charlie. “What’s up?”
“I’m telling him about Aaron, and he thinks that he’s a dork.”
Megan shrugged. “What’s wrong with that? He’s really cute. Also, he was asking about you today.”
“Really?” Y/N’s eyes brightened. Charlie laughed, shaking his head. “You girls are weird. But I approve. He’s a nice kid.”
“I wasn’t looking for your approval?”
  “Yes, you were.”
The girls had rolled their eyes at him and he had wrapped his arms around the two.
Y/N’s voice brings him back to the present. “Simple times.”
Charlie faces her. “Everyone after him were horrible.”
She narrows her eyes at the boy beside her. “No, you were just too overprotective.”
  “Nope. They were all horrible.”
They weren’t. Charlie just hated anyone who showed an interest in Y/N. At first, he thought that it was probably because he had literally watched her grow up. But a couple of months later, when he watched her kiss Levitt from the swim team, he had felt a smoldering rage rise in his stomach, along with his heart clenching. That day, he had realized that maybe there was more to it than watching her grow up. A couple more months later, on his eighteenth birthday, when she had kissed him on his cheek and handed him a present wrapped in shiny, blue paper, he had felt butterflies in his stomach. He also could feel the ghost of her delicate lips against his skin for days after, like the remnants of a fire brushing against his cheek.
When he unwrapped the present, he found a vintage, hardbound copy of his favorite book, Les MisĂ©rables, along with a note, saying: ‘I might’ve read your journal. Only the part about how much you loved hardcovers and the part about how much you hated the fact that no bookstores nearby sold it. Well, I also might’ve read the part about how frustrated you are with microwave timers. I feel you, dude. But, yeah, remember when I said that I was going to visit my sister in Montoc? I lied, LOL. I went to a vintage bookstore in Fredericton. I’m sorry for lying, but ‘twas for a good reason, huh? Hope you like this. Also, you’re my second favorite person, after Meg. Happy 18th, Charles. Love, Y/N.’
That moment he had realized that he was completely, utterly, truly, madly, deeply in love with his little sister’s best friend.
It’s been about three years since that, and he still hasn’t told her how he feels.
Now, Y/N looks at him, and rolls her eyes. “Sheesh.”
She props herself on her elbow. “When are we going out today?”
“Jeremy said that he made a reservation at 6. So, we’ll leave half an hour earlier.”
“Okay. Is Owen going with us?”
“Yeah. I don’t trust him to drive in Canada.”
  She grins. “He’s cool.”
  “Maybe sometimes.”
“Savannah and Madi are the coolest, though.”
  “Definitely, yeah.”
“You never told me that you had a cute roomie, though.”
  “Yeah – wait what?”
Y/N flashes him a teasing smile and pushes herself upward with the palm of her hands. She brushes off her yoga pants and extends an arm to Charlie who is currently panicking inside.
  “Do you like Owen?”
  “What if I do?”
Charlie must have looked as horrified as he had felt because she laughs and says, “I’m just messing with you.”
  “Thank god.”
***
“Finally!” Y/N yells, kicking off her black, leather heels, which land near Charlie’s feet. He laughs, kicking them to the side.
  “You’re so dramatic.”
“I dare you to wear heels like that for a day. See how you feel.”
Owen pipes from behind them, closing the door to their apartment. “Oh, I did. My friend Dani made me wear them for a video. It was the most painful day of my life.”
“See!” Y/N high fives his roommate as Charlie scrunches up his face. “How’d she find heels in your size, dude?”
He laughs, and extends an arm toward the other two, who hand him their coats, muttering ‘thank you’ individually. He walks inside, yelling, “I’m fucking tired. Going to sleep.”
“Don’t forget to check the stove!” Charlie yells back, hearing his roommate affirm his request.
It’s just the two of them standing in the foyer now, and Charlie can’t stop staring at her. She’s wearing this beautiful red dress that compliments her skin perfectly, clinging to her body in all the right places – he had himself gifted her this dress on her nineteenth birthday. (Not really. His mother had picked the dress.)
She hasn’t noticed him staring, though.
“Ugh, I can’t wait to get out of this dress.” She walks inside.
Charlie pauses and purses his lips, trying to stop himself from picturing him doing it. He breathes out raggedly and follows her inside – trying (and failing) to shove that mental picture away.
Reaching the living room, he falls back onto the couch, which has been his bed for the past few days that Y/N has been here. She had protested, of course. But she already has so much trouble sleeping – she’s had it ever since she was a child.
Y/N hadn’t had the best childhood. Charlie faintly remembers his mom pulling him and his sister into the kitchen one day when Y/N left their house after spending the whole day there.
“Mom? What happened to Y/N?” Megan had asked, childlike innocence dripping off her tone.
Charlie had nodded, saying, “How’d she fall down the stairs? That bruise looked nasty.”
Their mother had sighed, and Charlie still remembers the pain in her eyes. “Honey. I want you to listen carefully, okay? And not tell anyone. You two think you can do that?”
  They nodded enthusiastically.
“There are good people in this world – like Y/N. But there are also bad people, people who hurt the good people. And sometimes, sometimes, your parents can also be bad people.”
“That’s not true!” Megan had protested, their mother smiling.
“Maybe not for you. I hope so. But Y/N’s parents – they aren’t the best people, okay? They
uh
I’m not going to excuse their actions. They, uh, hurt Y/N.”
“So, they pushed her down the stairs?” Charlie asked, his eyes widened. He could not understand how the people that loved you the most could do that to you, especially to someone like Y/N. He’s known her his entire life, ever since the Y/L/Ns moved next door when he was still in diapers.
“I don’t know. Something happened. She was too shaken up to talk about it.”
“But – but – she’s the best person ever! Why would her mom and dad do that to her?” Megan had protested, eyes welling with tears at the thought of her best friend getting hurt.
“I don’t know, honey. I wish I did, I really do.” Their mother paused for a long moment. “I want you two to always be nice to her, alright? No matter what happens. Because, right now, she feels alone. I can see it in her eyes – she’s scared, confused, lonely. I know you two love her so much, and I want you guys to make sure that she knows it, okay? Make sure that she never feels lonely, all right? Make sure that she’s always safe and comfortable, as long as she’s with us, you.”
They had nodded, their hearts welling up with love for their friend.
After their mother hugged the two of them, Charlie’s twelve-year-old sister had run off to the other room, to call her best friend and tell her just how much she loves her.
Charlie had lingered in the kitchen, too sad over what he’d just been told.
  “Maman?”
  “Yes, honey?”
“Can’t we just keep her for ourselves?”
“If we could, we would. I would like nothing more. But that’s absolutely not legal, mon chĂ©ri.”
  “Oh. That’s unfair.”
His mother had flashed him a sad smile. He had taken both of his hands in his, and said sincerely, “I promise you, maman. I’m always gonna protect her. No matter what.”
His mother had pressed a kiss into his tousled hair and whispered, “I expect nothing less.”
It’s been more than seven years since, but Charlie still does everything in his power to make sure that she is always safe and happy.
“Hey, Char?” Her voice brings him back from his childhood.
  “Yeah?”
“That couch doesn’t look comfortable.” She shrugged one shoulder.
“It is! I promise you.” He lied. It definitely wasn’t comfortable. The blinding pain in his neck is proof of that.
“Don’t lie to me. Come on, sleep in your bed.”
  He shook his head.
“You’re not gonna sleep on the couch, Y/N. Seriously. You’re right, it’s too uncomfortable.”
“I wasn’t gonna. We’ll sleep together. That came out wrong. I mean, we can both sleep in the same bed, we’re both adults.”
Charlie wanted to protest, but the hopeless romantic in him drowned all objections.
“We’ll put pillows between us, okay? And it’s not like we haven’t slept in the same bed before. Remember my seventeenth? We were so drunk that we thought that the bed was a magnet, and we were screws.” She continued, looking away.
Charlie smiled up at her, remembering the feeling he had the next morning when he had woken up to find Y/N curled up into him, her head tucked into the crook of his neck. “All right. If it’s okay with you.”
She nods, walking into his bedroom, with Charlie following close behind. Both them wordlessly change and freshen up in the bathroom, and Charlie falls face first in his bed.
  “Oh. My. God.”
Y/N laughs, sitting at the corner of his bed. “Knew it.”
Charlie grins at her, feeling absolutely euphoric, especially with the buzz from all the drinks he’s had tonight still lingering in his head like a tattoo kiss. She slides under the covers, burrowing her face into the soft pillows. “I can’t function anymore. Bye.”
He laughs softly, squeezing her shoulder, to which she softly smiles. He slides under the cover, resting on his side to face her, or rather a mess of h/c hair and soft, rhythmic breaths. He closes his eyes, switching off the light, but he knows that he will not be getting much sleep tonight, especially with the fuzzy citrus scent of her perfume everywhere and the heat from her body consuming him.
***
It’s 1:20 AM and Charlie can’t sleep. Turns out that being in the same bed with the girl he’s been in love with since he was eighteen is a very, very bad idea. He’s put as much space between them as possible, yet he still feels vigilant and hot. His mind is betraying him: all he can think about is how beautiful she looks when the moonlight streaming through his window is casting shadows on her face, or how she’s sometimes saying things (really, really weird things, though – Charlie doesn’t understand anything), how much she looks like a little cat while she’s snuggled into the covers, or how she flails her arms while she’s asleep.
He considers crashing in Owen’s room for the night. But as soon as Y/N starts moving around, still sleeping, he holds that thought and watches her instead.
He can see her getting agitated, as she tosses and turns. She continues murmuring something, but it’s still all jumbled, and it hits Charlie.
He props himself on his elbow and leans close to her face. “Y/N. Hey. Come back to me. Y/N. Honey. You’re safe. You’re safe.”
She gasps, as consciousness floods in her system. She looks confused for a second, and Charlie sits up, right beside her. “Listen to me. You’re safe. I’m here. It’s okay. You’re okay. Everything is okay.”
She exhales, eyes closing for a second.
“Are you okay?” Charlie asks when her breathing has turned cadenced.
Her eyes widen and lips part. “I’m so sorry.”
“You don’t ever need to apologize for that. Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Yeah. I just – ever since I left home, I’ve been getting these nightmares.” She says, softly. Charlie lays next to her, turning to face her, while she mirrors his actions.
“What do you see?” He asks.
“Mostly my childhood. You know, my dad pushing me down the stairs. Or my mother telling me that I’m a horrible person and no one will ever love me, and she should have aborted me. Or my dad breaking the mirror the one time I got a B in math. Or my parents fighting. Or – you know, just a montage of my parents’ greatest hits.”
  She breathes out shakily.
“Getting away didn’t stop the nightmares, huh?” He asks, resting a hand on her warm cheek.
She scoots closer. “No. They still text me sometimes, mostly to remind me that I’m a terrible person and that I’m gonna go to hell for walking out on them and not going to Harvard.”
  “Y/N, don’t you dare –”
“No. I’m happier than I’ve ever been. Walking out was the best decision that I’ve ever made.”
  He smiles softly at her.
  “You and Megan
god, you two saved my life. I would never have had the courage to get this far if it wasn’t for you guys.”
“No, honey. It was all you. You’re the strongest person we know.”
“Shush. Let me compliment you in peace. You guys are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, you know.”
She smiles, reaching forward to tangle run her hands through Charlie’s hair. They were dangerously close now: Charlie could see the curve of her nose, the lingering red lipstick color on her lips and count the number of eyelashes she has.
“You’re the best thing that’s happened to us, too.”
Charlie can feel something in the space between them, something pulling them close. It is cold outside, but here, in the cocoon they’ve created, he feels warm and at home.
“Like, thank you so much for pushing me to get into law school. Now, I’m learning how to help millions of little girls who are going through what I went through, and it makes everything worth it. I feel like I don’t say this enough, but Charlie. Thank you for everything.”
He smiles, trying to retort something funny but her proximity has jumbled his mind.
“I know you’re really busy with your life, but thanks for still thinking of me sometimes.”
That breaks Charlie out of his daze. “What?”
“You know. You’re in a Netflix show, working with Kenny freaking Ortega and all these incredible people – and I’m enormously proud of you, by the way – and
well, you’ll soon not have that much time for your little sister’s best friend, you know?”
“You’re not just my little sister’s best friend, Y/N.”
“Yeah, I’m your friend, alright. But soon you’ll be meeting celebrities and models and actors and then you wouldn’t have time for me anymore.”
Charlie furrows his brows. “Where is this coming from, Y/N?”
“I just had a lot of time to think today.” She turns on her back, facing the ceiling.
He hates the fact that she is so unpredictable: he never knows what’s going on in her head or what she is feeling. That’s one of the reasons that he’s kept his feelings for her a secret for almost three years.
“I saw you with that model today. At the bar. Uh. So, I thought that you’re probably gonna meet a lot of them in LA. Models and Hollywood girls and all that. So, you’ll probably not have any time for me anymore.”
Charlie shakes his head, recalling the model he was talking to earlier today. Or rather, yesterday. Carol. She was really nice, sweet, and beautiful – and definitely interested in Charlie. But his focus had been on Y/N, who was having a dance off with Owen and Savannah, all evening – or rather, all the time. He had tried to focus on the Carol, he really did – but after an hour, she herself realized that he wasn’t into her and whispered a ‘good luck with her’ to him before leaving to go back to her friends.
  “Y/N, that’s not true –”
“It’s okay, Charlie. It’s good. Your life shouldn’t be stuck in the same place. It should be getting better, and you should be meeting new people, you know? You’ve been alone for a weirdly long time and it’s freaking your mom out. So, I know you’re gonna fall in love with someone and then you’ll be too busy –”
“God, Y/N, how are you so fucking oblivious?” Charlie snaps, annoyance coursing through his veins.
Her eyes widen at his harsh tone of voice, and it shocks Charlie, too. He’s never, ever raised his voice at her.
  “What?”
Maybe it’s having her so incredibly close that causes him to finally snap. “Y/N, I have been in love with you ever since I was eighteen. You’re the only person that I want, and you’re the reason that I’ve been alone for a weirdly long time.”
He immediately regrets saying that. Y/N is sitting up, and she is looking around everywhere, trying to avert Charlie’s eyes. He hides his face behind his hands, sinking deeper into the covers and trying to create a hole and fall down to the center of the earth.
“I think you’ve had too much to drink today.”
He groans into his hands, glad that he’s under the covers and the girl can’t see his absolutely scarlet face. “Oh, for god’s sake. Dude. I wrote you an entire ballad when I was nineteen because I realized that this is exactly what’s gonna happen – that I’m always gonna be in love with you, and you’re always gonna think of me as your best friend’s older brother.”
He feels the covers shift above his head, and is greeted with Y/N’s face, a vulnerable look in her eyes. “Do you really mean it?”
“Of course, I do. You’re my family – do you really think that I’m gonna joke about something like this and ruin our friendship? The only reason I’m even telling you this is because I’m incredibly frustrated that you’re so oblivious and you’re so fucking pretty. And so close. See, this is exactly why I wanted to sleep on the couch. Because I knew that I would lose it.”
There’s a sudden flurry of movement and her lips are on his’, and they’re kissing, kissing, kissing. Charlie is too shocked to do anything at first but as soon as the warmth courses through his system and the butterflies go wild in his gut, he pulls her closer, rising up. She sits in his lap, straddling him, their hands getting lost in each other’s hairs – both of them trying to be closer, closer, closer to make up for all the lost years and to keep feeling the contentment that they feel from just being close to each other. She tastes like Charlie’s mint toothpaste and his dreams – like everything he’s ever wanted.
As they separate for air, Y/N rests her forehead on his. “I thought you knew.”
“What?” He’s surprised to find his voice hoarse.
“That I’m in love with you.”
He can’t stop the grin on his face from escaping. “What?”
“I thought Meg told you. Or your mum. Or anyone really. Everyone’s called me out on it. I’ve always had a crush on you but dating all those guys in high school made me realize that I was kind of, you know, in love with you.”
  “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Same reason as you. You’re my family, Charlie. I didn’t wanna lose what we have just because of
 you know.”
Y/N slides off his lap and lies on the bed, next to him and he mirrors her actions, and she rests her head on his chest, the frantic beating in his chest her background music. He drapes an arm around her shoulders, desperate to have her close.
  “We’re both cowards, eh?”
  She giggles.
  “Wait. Meg knew?”
“Of course. She’s my best friend.”
“You know, one day I got drunk and told her that ‘I’m 100% attracted to your best friend sexually and emotionally and everythingally.’ I kept wondering why she was laughing.”
“I hate her.” She buries her face in Charlie’s chest, giggling.
Charlie laughs and pulls her in for another kiss, desperate to hold her again, to feel the high he only feels around her. She smiles against his lips, before a thought occurs to him. “Wait. You were jealous of the bar girl, weren’t you?”
  “Shut up, you dork.”
They’re only half aware of the snowstorm raging outside from the warm cocoon they’ve created in each other’s arms. Maybe miracles really do exist.

unexpected confessions | luke patterson
pairing: luke patterson x fem!reader
summary: you and luke never got along, but a fight at flynn’s party could lead to some unexpected events.
warning: swearing.
Tumblr media
Their friends couldn't stand all the bickering anymore.
During her whole life, Y/N only had one mantra: treat everyone with kindness. Being gentle and caring was never a problem. But there was only one person in the entire world who could piss her the hell of and automatically turn all the kindness stuff into pure anger: Luke Patterson. However, there was something about him that would always make her heart skip a beat.
For whatever reason it was, Luke and Y/N could never get along. And to make things worse, being in the same friend group didn't exactly help. Julie, Flynn, Alex and Reggie would spend half of their time together trying to make both of them stop the childish arguing.
It wasnt't until a party at Flynn's that things would drastically change.
"Can i borrow one of your dresses?" Y/N asked Flynn who shot her a glare.
"Not tonight! Today you'll be definetely wearing that red dress i gave you on your birthday."
"Don't you think that dress is a little... too much for tonight?" Y/N asked uncertain.
"Absolutely not, we gotta be looking amazing. I didn't hire a photoboot for nothing."
"Fine. Just for tonight." Y/N said and Flynn smiled as if she knew that wouldn't be the last time she would convince her friend to wear the dress.
"We gotta be ready at 9 p.m." Flynn said for what it looked like the tenth time that day. Y/N was laying on Julie's bed while Julie was somewhere inside her closet trying to find something to wear that night.
"Have you told the boys yet?" Julie asked leaving the closet and sitting on the edge of the bed besides Y/N.
"Not yet. Where are they?"
"Downstairs. Go tell them, i'll be there in a few minutes." Julie told the two girls.
"C'mon, Y/N. I'll go grab some snacks, you can wait with the boys." Flynn said and Y/N nodded, heading to the studio.
"Hey, Y/N/N" Reggie greeted interrupting whatever Luke was talking to him and Alex about.
"Hey, guys, what's up?" She said making her way to the armchair where she usually sits, which turns out to be exactly where Luke was. "Scoot". He rolled his eyes before looking at her.
"Um... no. I was here first." He replied with a sarcastic smile moving to get more comfortable on the armchair and it was her turn to roll eyes.
"What are you, five? I'm not sitting on the floor. This is my armchair, you know that." She made a little effort to say the next words. "Please, Patterson. Scoot!". He scoffed and went back to the conversation, completely ignoring her. She scoffed back and pushed him to the floor sitting on his previously spot with a mischievous smile.
"What the hell?!" Luke yelled getting up from the floor. At this point Alex and Reggie were watching the whole scene as if it was - and it was - their daily entertainment.
"Two can play the childish game." Y/N calmly said.
"Oh, you're right!" He said making the girl furrow her eyebrows before sitting by her side in the armchair, squeezing their bodies together. He intended to get her annoyed at first, but the proximity between the both of them only drawed a rosy blush to Y/N's cheeks and made her heart beat a little faster. It took Luke a few seconds to realize their closeness making his cheeks flush red too. He stood up and awkwardly cleared his throat looking over at the other boys who were amused and trying to hold back their laughs.
"Guys, the party is at 9 p.m., don't be late." Flynn warned as she entered the garage. "Y/N/N, Julie and i decided to go get ready at my house, are you coming?"
"Of course. C'mon." She said getting up and following Flynn. "See you later, boys" she sent Alex and Reggie a smile who returned it and waved for her.
"That was fun." Alex teased Luke when Y/N left the studio.
"Shut it." Patterson hissed and sent his friend a glare before grabbing the guitar.
[...]
"Wow! You're... wow!" Julie said to Y/N who was staring at the mirror for the past minute. She was wearing the red dress that Flynn got her on her last birthday and a pair of black heels. For the first time in a while she felt incredibly confident - the smile on her face making her even prettier.
"Look who's talking! You look amazing!" she said and Julie's grin became wider.
"C'mon, Flynn is at the living room talking to some friends. Let's go" Julie said linking their arms and going downstairs. The boys hasn't showed up yet. After a few minutes of greetings and taking pictures, the girls finally went to dance, laughing and showing each other their moves.
When Luke walked in with Alex and Reggie the first thing he saw was Y/N. She was looking amazing. Thinking about how pretty she is was definitely something against the rules of their 'hating each other game', but he couldn't help it, not that night. Y/N was moving so perfectly and confidently it made him smile and get a little distracted. The other boys were talking about something but all he could focused on was her.
"Dude, are you even listening what i'm saying?" Alex asked and Luke snapped out of it.
"Sorry, what?" Luke turned his look back to his friends.
"What were you looking at?" Reggie asked trying to follow the direction Luke was staring at a few seconds ago.
"Nothing?" He answered way too fast making Alex raise his eyebrows suspiciously.
"Ok..."
[...]
Later that night everyone went to the yard and started to talk and play random old school games. Y/N would be lying if she said she wasn't staring at Luke for at least half of the party. Julie and Flynn were trying to guess what was getting Y/N so distracted.ïżŒ
"It's nothing!" Y/N retorted.
"Is it a person?" Flynn asked making her friend roll her eyes ignoring the rest of the questions. Luke, Reggie and Alex showed up in the following moment with food.
"Hey, girls. Flynn, could we get some drinks from your dad's cabinet?" Reggie asked.
"No drinks today, Reggie, you know Ray trusted us." Y/N warned and Reggie groaned before nodding. Luke mumbled something she couldn't understand. "What was that, Patterson?"
"I said" he started "of course you would say that, Y/L/N, you don't know how to have fun". Y/N scoffed taking a step closer to him.
"Not again..." Julie and Alex said in unison while Flynn rolled her eyes at the childishness of her friends. Reggie started to eat while watching the scene.
"Let me tell you something, Mr. I Wanna Be Rebel. Not everyone's 'fun' is related to alcohol!" She yelled as she just had enough of him.
"Oh, yeah?" He yelled back and took a step closer, leaving their faces only a few inches apart. "What's your idea of fun then?"
"This." Y/N said grabbing Luke's face and pressing their lips together in a passionate kiss. His eyes widened for a second but he closed them as soon as he realized that was really happening. The boy wrapped his arms around her waist and they kissed for a few more seconds before pulling apart with red cheeks and shy smiles on their faces.
"I didn't know you had feelings for me too, Y/N/N" Luke said putting a lock of hair behind her ear. "I mean, judging by this... you do, right?"
“I sure do. I mean, that was kinda the whole point of the kiss, i thougth you would get it.” she joked and he giggled.
"Good. I couldn't stand arguing with you for no reason anymore." Luke admitted and Y/N chuckled, playfully rolling her eyes. "You're beautiful, you know?" he said and she smiled with flushed cheeks.
"You're sweet. And handsome" Y/N said pecking his lips. It took them a few seconds to realize that their friends were watching the entire scene with dropped jaws and wide eyes.
"I'm sorry, did i miss something? Like... a whole life?" Alex asked while looking at Y/N and Luke who were still smiling and holding hands.
"Did they just... admitted they like each other?" Julie asked shocked as Flynn watched them with a knowing look.
"I always knew..." Flynn sang out with a smirk.
"Does that mean Y/N is our mommy now?" Reggie quietly whispered to Alex.
"For the last time, Reggie, Luke is not our dad." Alex retorted while rolling his eyes.
"I could easily get use to it" Luke told her ignoring his friends again. "Would you like to go on a date with me, Y/L/N?"
"I'm glad you asked, Patterson. I think that wouldn't be terrible." she joked and he pecked her lips one more time. Julie and Flynn smirked as Reggie and Alex smiled, still shocked, but happy for their friends.
"Oh, and by the way..." Luke started, grabbing her hand and bringing his mouth close to her ear. "I liked your idea of fun".

Method Acting
Charlie Gillespie x reader
Tumblr media
Request by @dylanstilinskiposts: Also hi sorry that I keep bothering you, but if you do Charlie x reader, would you maybe do one where the readers an actress and she has to do a dangerous stunt (like the water tank in Now You See Me) and Charlie’s on set that day and something goes wrong w the stunt and basically he’s super worried and stuff ? Lol thank you ily
A/N: This is my first time writing for Charlie and writing rpf so I have no clue if it’s good, but I loved the request and I really wanted to try it so don’t come at me if how people act are wrong or if any of the set things are wrong, I have no clue what a TV set is like or how it operates 😂 I did pretty much use Henley’s stunt as like the stunt in here, so yeah. If this is lowkey shit, we forget it ever happened, deal?
WC: 2K
MASTER
WARNINGS: Reader almost drowns (kinda idk), but doesn’t
---
Today was a big day for you during filming. Charlie could sense the nerves coming off your jittery body as the two of you were hanging around set, waiting for your scenes. You kept pacing, taking deep breaths, and silently trying to hype yourself up. A soft smile came upon your face when you felt Charlie’s arms around your stomach, stopping your pacing and pulling you flush against his chest.
“Charlie!” you laughed out as he buried his face against your shoulder, letting you feel his smile.
“You’re going to be amazing, just like always.” He whispered and you let out a sigh before turning around, never losing Charlie’s hold as you draped your arms over his shoulder.
“I know. I’m prepared, I just-“
“Worry too much?” He cut you off with a grin and you bit back a smile.
“You’d be worried too if you had to submerge yourself in a water filled tank for a minute with chains attached to your wrists and ankles.” You mumbled under your breath, feeling the nerves hit once again. Charlie wouldn’t tell you, but he was just as worried as you, if not more. He didn’t want anything to happen to you. You glanced over Charlie’s shoulder, seeing the tank that would be used for your stunt sitting there. “Look at it.” Charlie furrowed his brows before looking behind him. “It’s taunting me.”
He couldn’t help the chuckle that jumped out of him. “Okay, baby. Sure, it is.”
“I’m serious!” you joined him in laughing, letting your head fall against his shoulder. Charlie kissed the side of your head before hugging you.
“You’re going to be fine, Y/N. If anything happens, I’ll be the first one there to help.” You picked your head up, meeting his eyes and seeing his smile crinkle them. At Charlie’s words, you felt yourself relax slowly. You’re prepared. You’ve got this. The two of you stayed holding each other just a few seconds longer before it was time for the scene.
Charlie kissed your forehead quickly before jogging toward Owen and Jeremy, who were stood back making kissy faces at Charlie when he joined. You laughed at them and headed over to your mark to prepare yourself in the time you had before cameras were rolling. You caught Charlie’s eye before the filming was about to begin and he sent you a wink, which you happily sent back.
From across the set of the Hollywood ghost club, Charlie could see you eyeing the tank again and despite knowing how prepared you were, it still worried him. In the show, piranhas were to fall into the tank right as your character makes her exit, but right here, on set, there were no piranhas. Only you using chains to attach your arms and legs and holding your breath.
Charlie snapped back to attention when the scene started without him as Booboo, as his character Willie, brought the band into the club. As Booboo spoke his lines, dancers all around the stage performed to the music, making Charlie smile much like his character was supposed to.
Owen and Booboo spoke back and forth to each other and Charlie waited for his cue, right when you were supposed to walk on the stage right towards the tank.
“Who’s that?” He asked, making his brows knot with fake curiosity.
Booboo glanced over his shoulder before throwing a smile back to Charlie. “Around here, she’s known as Trickster. When she was alive, she was Caleb’s assistant before making a name for herself. I guess she’s performing tonight as a treat.” He shrugged and the boys looked on in wonder, giving the camera time to capture you addressing the audience, telling them about the surprise trick you’d be performing. Your eyes met Charlie’s momentarily, giving you a sense of calm and the moment your character’s first drop of chemistry was introduced. “Oh, man.” Booboo mumbled, reminding Charlie he was in a scene. The 3 “ghosts” looked at him. “You guys are in for a treat.”
“What do you mean?” Jeremy asked.
“The trick she’s getting ready for? It’s the one that killed her.” The three of them shared looks, all one’s of shock and surprise. There was a big clock behind them, letting you as well as the audience know when a minute was up and the piranhas would fall on you, in the show at least.
You took a deep breath as the handcuffs were placed around your wrists and smiled at the audience, showing they were really on as another pair went around your ankles. You can do this, you thought to yourself as you focused on calming your breathing.
“Who’s ready?” you asked out loud, receiving the applaud you knew was coming. You glanced briefly at Charlie, seeing him wink and you couldn’t control your smile. “1!” you shouted. “2!” This time the audience joined you and when they yelled out the number 3, you took a much-needed breath and dropped into the tank below you.
The water hit you quickly as you glanced out, seeing the clock ticking down and you started right away on the handcuffs. You got the first one off faster than you thought you would, letting the metal float away in the water as you worked on the other wrist. There was more slack on the chains now and it tended to get in the way, but you’ve managed to get it off. Only when the cuff was off, did you realize how much slower you were going and how much your throat was starting to react to you holding your breath. Water was falling out of the tank constantly from your moving, just like you were told it would do and you ignored the way you could see it cling to the tank on the outside.
You tugged up on the chain, making sure it was lodged in the ground like it was supposed to be to give you the trapped factor. You only had 10 more seconds on the clock as you started pounding on the glass, pretending to be trapped. You could see people gasp, Charlie standing off his seat as Luke was supposed to be worried for you but you didn’t stop pounding, opening your mouth and screaming for help before the clock stopped and Kenny shot you a thumbs up since you couldn’t hear underwater.
The pounding stopped and you wanted out of the water now. You pulled up on the chain, thinking it would release like it was supposed to, but it didn’t move. You tried again and again, but no luck. Charlie could tell from his seat that you were panicking, the chain that you’ve practiced with hundreds of times never releasing. He stood up again, worry etched on his face as he saw your head shoot up, locking eyes with him as well as Kenny and the stunt coordinator. Your hand fell to your throat, telling them you couldn’t breathe.
“Y/N!” Charlie shouted out of instinct as he rushed to the tank, wanting to get you out of there and help like he promised, but he didn’t know how. His hand flew to the glass, pressing against where your hand was barely touching. He could see you struggle to hold your breath in, your eyes closing over and over again. Focused solely on your face, he didn’t even notice as someone jumped into the tank next to you, giving a few strong yanks on the chain and breaking it before they hoisted you out of the tank by your shoulders.
As soon as you hit the air, you were coughing, water coming violently out of your mouth and dripping out your nose. Charlie was by your side in an instant, not caring about anyone shouting to give you space as he held you in his lap and helped you breathe properly again. “You’re okay. You’re okay, Y/N.” He whispered, leaning his head against the side of yours. You let out a brutal cough, feeling Charlie rub your back as you wiped the water out of your face.
“I’m okay.” You repeated Charlie’s words. Your mouth hung open to allow you to breathe as you looked to Charlie and down in the tank. There was a broken piece of your handcuffs and chains floating near the bottom of the tank, still stuck in the bottom as you mustered up a chuckle. “Kenny, I hope you got your shot because I am so not doing that again, man.”
Around you, people laughed when they saw the smile on your face and the way you cuddled into your boyfriend, tucking your head into his shoulder and closed your eyes. You felt so tired, knowing you exerted most of your energy in the few seconds you were actually trapped. Charlie could tell too, and luckily, so did Kenny.
“We’ll get someone to look her over, then you can take her back to her trailer and we’ll finish the rest of the scene later.” He told Charlie who nodded and helped you to your feet.
“Char!” you whined out, leaning on him for support to stand. He happily helped you, grabbing a blanket Owen was offering out to you, and threw it over your shoulders. After a quick check-up, which proved you were alright but with exhausted lungs from holding your breath, you both walked back to your trailer with Charlie’s hand always on the small of your back as you walked.
You changed into some dryer clothes when you were inside, Charlie changing into a pair of sweats and a T-shirt as well since his clothes were soaked from holding you. He sat on your couch first, stretching his arms out for you to lay with him and you did, letting your head fall on his chest as his arms went around your waist.
“I knew the tank was taunting me.” You muttered against his chest, hearing his laugh ripple out.
“Oh my god.” He rubbed your back again. You cuddled against him, enjoying his warmth. Charlie looked down at you, seeing the peaceful look on your face that was so different than the one you displayed in the tank. “I’m glad you’re okay.” He whispered.
You stiffened momentarily before picking your chin up and placing it on his chest. “I am too. Otherwise, you’d have to find another person to put up with your cuddly ass.” Charlie’s head fell back in a laugh before he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
“We don’t have to cuddle. I mean ,I’m perfectly fine if you want to go back out there and film some more scen-“
“No!” you held him tighter and Charlie’s smile grew.
“Now who’s cuddly?” He mocked you and you stuck out your tongue at him before grinning at him.
“I almost died; I think that warrants me cuddles.”
“I think so too.” He agreed before seeing your eyes stare off to the side and your brows furrow. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You shook your head, seeing Charlie raise a brow at your answer. “If I died the same way Trickster did, does that count as deep, deep method acting?”
His mouth fell open, looking at you in disbelief. “You are unbelievable!” Despite the obscurity of your question, it didn’t stop either of you from falling into a fit of laughter.
“What?! Stop laug-“ Charlie laughed louder. “It’s a genuine question!” You bit your lip, trying to keep your laughs at bay.
Charlie caught you off guard when he kissed you, stopping both of your laughs for a moment as you kissed him back. “I love you.” He whispered against your lips as your cheeks heated up.
“I love you too.” You whispered back, threading a hand through his hair before you kissed him again.

Words: 8.6k
Warnings: Luke kinda being a bit of a dickhead and a very quick bit of tickling I guess
Pairings: alive!Luke Patterson x fem!reader (a bit of enemies to lovers and friends to lovers)
...........................................
So far your Monday was off to a decent start. Your weekend had been fairly eventful which, unfortunately, meant that you had to leave the school dance before you could hear Julie play. But you knew something had to have happened. She had missed the first three classes of school, and she hadn’t texted you or Flynn. You were starting to wonder if she was going to miss the fourth but she finally made it to the dance room a couple seconds after the bell rang. She took her spot next to you and Flynn and joined in on the warm up. “Jules so whatever happened with Nick?” you questioned as you stretched down to your toes.
Julie grimaced at the mention of the weekend. “Well I am embarrassed myself in front of him badly enough that I’m hoping I can avoid him for at least a week.”
“Oh come on, I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.”
Julie deadpanned. “He said that one of my songs had been stuck in his head and I told him someone should let it out.”
You exchanged a worried look with Flynn.
“Yeah, that’s pretty bad,” she admitted.
You attempted to reassure her. “But hey, look on the bright side, it can’t get much worse, right?”
“Don’t say that outloud, I’ll jinx myself,” Julie joked.
“I mean you’re safe in this class,” Flynn pointed out.
“True,” Julie sighed, as she bent down to stretch.
As you bent down again you swore you could hear a large group of voices coming from the hallway.
“You have to be fucking kidding me,” Julie groaned.
“What did I miss that you’re cursing?” Flynn joked.
Julie pointed through her legs at the door. “Look behind you.”
Flynn and you turned to see that the lacrosse team was entering the dance room, including Nick.
Julie moved closer to the two of you. “Remind me to never talk to him ever again,” she whispered.
Your dance class instructor, Mrs. Kelly, walked to the front of the room. “Alright dancers listen up, this week the lacrosse team will be joining us for class, so I want to make sure all of you are on your best behavior.” You all nodded in unison, but your attentions were cut short by coach Barron yelling.
“Remember boys this is not about flirting with girls, we are here to get better. We lost to Burbank! Burbank!” A couple boys winced at the volume.
Mrs. Kelly clapped her hands. “Alright, I think that’s enough of that. Boys I want you to each find your partner for this week,” she instructed.
A few boys began to move, but the majority of the team seemed to not want to move until coach Barron pushed them along. The three of you awaited your partners, and Julie tried to hide behind Flynn. But her plan was short lived as one of the players b-lined for Flynn before pulling her away.
“Sorry!” she whispered as she left the two of you.
“Well that just leaves us I guess,” Julie commented.
A small satisfactory smile played on your lips as you realized who was approaching. “No, I think someone’s got their eye on you.”
“Hey Julie!” Nick called out.
Julie’s eyes grew wide but she managed to keep a smile on her face. “Nick!”
You took that as your moment to leave but she grabbed a hold of your arm.
“Don’t leave me!” she hissed at you.
She clung to you desperately, but there was nothing you could do. “Sorry, but it’s groups of two,” you pointed out.
Julie sadly let you go before turning back to Nick. You quickly made your way to the front of the class since there weren’t any other people left. You politely tapped your dance teacher's shoulder.
“Um, Mrs. Kelly what do you want me to do?”
“Oh there’s still one person left I think.” She observed the room, but you saw no one standing alone. But that did not deter Mrs. Kelly. She cupped her hands around her mouth before loudly making an announcement.
“Who doesn’t have a partner?”
A single hand went up in the air and you watched as Luke Patterson came up from the back of the room. You felt a small pit drop in your stomach. Luke was definitely the hottest guy and school but he also had a habit of annoying the shit out of you. However, Mrs. Kelly didn’t seem to pick up on your annoyed attitude.
“Oh perfect, you and Lukas will be partners then,” she said brightly.
You held back an eye roll but you took your usual place by the gym doors, and Luke followed you.
As he took his spot behind you, you faced the front of the class so you wouldn’t have to look at him.
“She does know that I go by Luke now right?” he questioned once he was certain you were out of her hearing range.
“Probably not, it’s not like you’ve ever taken a dance class before,” you irritably pointed out.
“How do you know that?” he started to ask, but he was cut off.
“Alright girls let’s start it from the top!” Mrs. Kelly instructed.
As you gracefully moved through the number you had worked on last week, Luke copied your moves. You inwardly noted how quick of a learner he was, not that you would admit it; he definitely didn’t need the ego boost. You looked up to the mirror to see that he was watching you with an intensity you weren’t quite used to.
“You’re really good,” he quietly commented.
“Thanks,” you softly spoke. Before you could put meaning behind his words you spun into his chest, and your breath momentarily left your frame. You had known that his arms were muscular, but his chest was rock hard. You forced yourself not to think too much about it, and pushed away the mental images in your mind. You continued the dance as if nothing had happened, as you laid your hands across his. When you started swaying side to side, Luke broke the silence.
“So how do you know that I’ve never taken a dance class before?” he questioned, he seemed genuinely curious which was somehow more infuriating.
“Because we’ve been in the same grade for four years now Luke,” you huffed. He gently lifted your arms over your head before bringing them back down. You looked in the mirror to see that he was smirking.
“Are you sure you’re not spying on me?”
“The whole world doesn’t revolve around you Lukas,” you retorted.
“Maybe, but you might,” he winked at you through the mirror.
“In your dreams Patterson,” you scoffed.
You let go of his hands and he hopped outward with a twirl, but he didn’t land quite as gracefully as he had hoped. He managed to regain his balance at the last second, and caught himself with his hands.
You crossed your arms as you looked down at him. “Well it seems like there is something you aren’t good at,” you taunted.
“Are you implying that I’m good at everything else?” Luke sassed.
“Oh my god, Luke, why do you have to turn everything around?” you grumbled.
He dusted himself off and hopped up.
“Only because you’re making this too easy for me,” he snickered.
You couldn’t tell if it was his ego blocking your thoughts or if his sheer annoyance had made your mind go blank, but you couldn’t formulate a comeback, so you settled for a groan; which Luke laughed at.
Needless to say, you were thankful when dance class was over.
..........
“So, how was dancing with Luke?” Flynn sang.
“Terrible, I don’t understand how one person can be so cocky,” you complained, as you grabbed the books out of your locker.
Flynn confidently leaned up against the lockers. “Really, because he seemed quite interested in you.”
“Yeah me and along with every other girl in school,” you reminded her.
“Then how come he didn’t try to dance with anyone in our dance class, and hid in the back till he realized you didn’t have one?” You hadn’t considered that. But there was no way that he hid on purpose. But when you searched for a different explanation, the only one seemed to be the one you didn’t like. Flynn, however, looked quite happy with your conclusion.
Before you could stop yourself, you asked the question on your mind. “He was waiting?”
Flynn nodded. “Why else do you think one of the hottest guys in school didn’t have a partner?” she pointed out.
“I hate it when you’re right about these things,” you groaned, as you shut your locker.
She threw an arm around your back. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it.”
As you walked into the parking lot, your eyes quickly searched around before locking eyes with Julie. Flynn waved goodbye to you before you made your way over to your car. But halfway through the parking lot, you were met by an obstacle.
“Hi y/n!” Reggie excitedly greeted you.
You couldn’t help but return the grin. “Hi Reggie.”
His demeanor quickly changed to a more nervous one as he spoke. “So since you’re already here, is there any chance you want a ride home in the jeep?” He pointed to the lifted black vehicle behind him.
You sighed, but even you couldn’t deny the twinkle in your eyes. “Did Luke put you up to this?”
“No, why would you say that?” Reggie scoffed, with a not very sarcastic tone of voice.
You grimaced at him with tight lips as you tilted your head sideways.
“Okay, yes, but please don’t tell Luke that I sold him out,” he begged.
You bit back a laugh but you agreed. “Your secret is safe with me, but can you do me a favor please?”
“Yeah, sure!” he happily agreed.
You grinned wickedly. “Tell starboy to wear some pads for tomorrow.”
“Huh?” His mouth was still slightly agape in confusion.
“Trust me, he’ll get it!” you called out as you made your way to your car.
..........
You were so early to dance class, that Mrs. Kelly hadn’t arrived yet. But your dance partner was only a minute behind you. As he entered the dance room the next day he had a rather unimpressed look on his face. “Starboy, really?” he asked, as he dropped his backpack on the floor.
You shrugged, “It seemed appropriate.” The look on his face was one of utter betrayal.
“Really, because I’m not not getting out of that nickname with my friends for at least a week.”
You bit your lip to pretend like you were thinking before shrugging again. “Eh, seems like your problem not mine,” you said casually.
Luke’s cocky smile returned. “Mhmm, not exactly.” He took a step towards you and you raised your head so you could make eye contact.
You took a step forward and you swore he could hear your heartbeat. You tilted your head at him. “And how exactly is that?” you whispered out.
His grin grew to his ears as he spoke. “Well, you gave me a nickname and you didn’t seem upset about the fact of riding with my friends, so now they think you like me.”
If he couldn’t feel your heart beating before, he definitely could now. You couldn’t even begin to fully process what he had just said. “What?” you spluttered out in shock.
“They think that you-” he poked your shoulder for emphasis, “like me,” he pointed back to himself.
Your brain was running at a million miles per minute. “Why would they even? No I do not! What kind of logic is that? That doesn’t even make any sense! What?” you rambled on.
After a few more seconds of absorbing your confusion Luke burst out laughing.
“Oh you should’ve seen your face,” he cackled.
“What?” you puzzled.
Luke managed to stumble through a sentence without laughing. “My friends don’t think you like me, I just wanted to see what your reaction would be.”
A part of you was relieved that your partial feelings for him hadn’t been revealed. But the other part of you wanted to punch him in the face. A puff of breath came out of your nose. “Real mature dickhead, real mature.”
Once Luke managed to pick himself up off the ground from laughing so hard he noticed that you were still turned away from him.
You thought you could hear a little bit of genuine concern in his voice, but you had to of imagined it. “Wait did I upset you?”
“What do you think Lukas?” you dryly responded.
Luke scratched the back of his neck. “Okay, so I definitely took that too far,” he paused to look up at you but you were still glaring daggers at him. “I’m sorry, y/n,” he apologized as he sweetly looked at you with glossy puppy eyes. But you weren’t going to settle for his cuteness.
“Your puppy eyes would work if you had stepped on my foot, or messed me up on the routine. But they’re sure as hell not going to work now,” you hissed.
It looked to you like Luke was shrinking from how much he was curling in on himself. You continued pretending like he wasn’t there but you glanced over when he started talking. “Y/n I’m really sorry, is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”
That certainly gave you something to think about. If Luke Patterson, the boy who hardly listened to anyone, was willing to let you pick his apology then he had to be feeling bad about what he had done. But actions are louder than words, so you knew you would have to come up with something to make him prove it. But suddenly, you thought of something.
“Tell me three really embarrassing things about yourself, and I’ll call it even, since you were trying to get a reaction out of me,” you proposed.
“Okay, that seems fair,” Luke agreed. You waited as he tried to remember three things.
“Oh I got one!” he chirped. “One time when I was ten I accidentally sent one of my teachers a song that I was working on, instead of my math homework, and then she made me read it in front of the class because she thought I was playing a prank on her.”
You were more focused on how mean his teacher was than his embarrassment. “Well that wasn’t very nice of her.”
“I know, Alex gave her the nickname song sucker for the rest of the year,” Luke fondly remembered.
He suddenly had another light bulb go off in his head. “Oh, and one time I farted in front of my third grade crush.”
As much as his stories were generally considered embarrassing, he was hard to embarrass and that these things didn’t even seem to bother him now, so you would have to make it a little bit harder for him.
“Luke, come on,” you groaned.
“What?” he asked innocently.
“What’s something that’s really embarrassing, like you’ve never even told anyone?” you asked.
“These things are embarrassing,” he pointed out.
You tilted your head. “Do they currently embarrass you?”
“No,” he admitted.
“See, what’s something bad enough that you’ve never even told anyone?” you questioned. Luke bit his bottom lip in concentration, and soon enough he thought of something.
“Okay, I’ll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone,” he instructed.
“Your secret is safe with me Luke,” you promised.
“When I went to audition for this school, which you know, we had to do a music audition. I chose to sing and play my acoustic guitar. I went up on the stage, and everything was going fine until one of my guitar strings just snapped in half.”
Your hand covered your mouth in shock. “You’re kidding.”
Luke grinned. “It gets even better.”
You eagerly gestured for him to continue.
“So I keep playing and of course it sounds terrible. But then I’m holding out the last couple notes and I’m just waiting for it to be over, and then I’m finally done, and guess what happens.”
“What?” you asked eagerly.
Luke’s face flushed slightly as he recounted the worst part. “I tripped down the steps, and allllll my friends were in the front row watching me.”
You burst out laughing, “I’m so sorry.”
Luke’s jaw dropped in betrayal, but it was clear that he found it as funny as you did. “I just told you my most embarrassing story in my entire life, and you are laughing at me?”
“I’m sorry, but it’s too funny,” you giggled.
“Does, that mean I’m forgiven?” he asked hopefully.
Once you managed to stop laughing you nodded your head. “You’re forgiven,” you agreed.
Luke pumped his fist to the side in triumph. Once his excitement had settled he turned to you with a determined face.
“I have a deal for you,” he proposed.
“Sure, what is it?” you asked. Somehow hearing his most embarrassing story made you not mind being around him as much.
“We should just work together, and be friends. It’s only going to make this class worse if we’re at each other’s throats, so I’m proposing a deal, I’ll try to be less of a pain in your ass, and you tolerate teaching me,” he explained.
“Are you sure you’re capable of doing that?” you quipped.
He huffed but a smile still remained on his face. “Do we have a deal or not?” He extended his hand to yours and you took it.
“You’ve got a deal starboy,” you agreed.
Shortly after your deal was made the room started filling up with kids again. You made your way through stretching and warm up which mostly just consisted of the two of you goofing off. You had to admit, now that you were starting to be on good terms, he wasn’t as annoying as you had originally thought. As you started to dance, the two of you fell into a silent rhythm until Luke thought of something.
“So why did you choose back here?” he asked as he spun you.
The oddness of his question caused you to stop dancing. “What?”
He pointed to where you were standing. “Like back here, in the very back of the room, why?”
“Why do you care?” you wondered. You didn’t mean it in a mean way; it just seemed like a very weird, and specific question to ask.
Luke held a small smile on his face. “I’m curious so now I have to know,” he insisted.
“Well I can see both my friends from here without moving where I am standing,” you explained, and you pointed to the right side of the front of the room.
Luke still looked a bit puzzled. “Why do you need to watch them?”
“I’ll tell you, but you have to promise you won’t tell a soul,” you carefully warned.
Luke sincerely looked into your eyes. “I pinky promise.”
You deemed that as good enough.
“Well I need to watch Julie to spy on her and Nick, and I need to watch Flynn to make sure she’s not spying on me.” Your eyes widened as you realized that the last bit had slipped out of your mouth. You of course couldn’t tell him the reason was that you didn’t want Flynn to think you liked him, but now all you could do was hope he hadn’t noticed.
Luke appeared to not be analyzing your sentence, and for a second you thought he hadn’t noticed. But that second was short lived. “Wait, why would Flynn be spying on you?”
Your eyes went wide and you gritted your teeth for the eventual bad excuse that would come out of your mouth. You didn’t know why but you felt like if you said that Flynn thought you should get together, you would be revealing something.
But before you could utter a bad lie you were saved by Mrs. Kelly.
“Some of us need to focus more on our dance then our partners,” she announced to the class, but you knew it was meant for you and Luke. You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment and Luke kept his eyes on the floor. But to the both of your horrors, she was walking over towards the two of you.
“Sorry, we’ll get back to work Mrs. Kelly,” you quickly apologized. Luke nodded in agreement.
“You two come to the front of the class,” she politely urged.
You turned behind you to exchange a nervous glance with Luke who shrugged at you, but you could see the slightly apologetic look in his eyes.
You followed Mrs. Kelly to the front of the classroom. She gestured for you and Luke to stand in certain positions. As you moved to your spot you made eye contact with Julie who shot you a confused look. “I don’t know either,” you mouthed to her.
“Alright class,” Mrs. Kelly clapped. The attention of the room turned to you, Luke, and Mrs. Kelly.
“Today I wanted to show all of you something. Y/n has been in my class for four years now, and even though this is Lukas’s first class with me I’ve decided to challenge them.”
Luke and you both looked slightly fearful, though he arguably looked a bit more scared than you.
“Now the rest of you are going to continue with the regular routine, but I will be adding a lift into y/n’s and Lukas’s routine.”
You stood still for a couple seconds as you processed what she had just said. You knew you were capable of doing a lift, but to do one with Luke would certainly be interesting. You weren’t certain if it was a good thing or not.
“Alright, that’ll be it for class today,” she announced, interrupting your spiral of thoughts.
The rest of the class started to grab their things and she turned to face the two of you.
“And I will be instructing the two of you on the lift tomorrow,” she told you, and without further explanation, she left the room.
“I’m beginning to think maybe we worked together a little too much today,” you commented quietly enough that only Luke could hear you.
“Oh come on, you can’t seriously think that,” Luke said, surprisingly cheerfully.
You figured he could probably hear the nerves in your voice, but you weren’t certain what his tone meant. “Just saying.”
“We got this, trust me,” he assured you as he glanced your way.
“If you say so,” you agreed hesitantly.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He waved as he exited the room, and you waved back before packing up your stuff and heading out.
..........
“You ready partner?” Luke asked enthusiastically as he took his place by your side.
“Depends whether you’re ready,” you retorted. If you weren’t confident that this was going to go well you figured you might as well act like it.
“Trust me, I was born ready,” Luke smirked. It was starting to grow on you a little bit, but you couldn’t resist the temptation of annoying him back.
“Yeah right, says the one who fell on the floor the other day,” you teased.
His tongue briefly grazed the front of his top teeth. “You might wanna watch it, I’m the one holding you up in the air,” he prodded.
You felt your nerves start to kick in again. “Don’t you fuckin dare,” you warned.
Luke backed up in surrender. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m not going to drop you.”
“You better not,” you agreed.
“Why, do you not trust me?” he playfully scoffed.
You returned his cocky manner. “Of course not.”
Luke’s jaw dropped, but you knew he expected your answer. “Wow, maybe I will-” You glared at him and he stopped mid sentence.
“I’m not going to drop you, I swear.”
For once in his life he actually looked serious and in that moment you actually believed him. Your attention was then called to the front of the class as Mrs. Kelly clapped her hands.
“Alright, so today I want all of you to focus on the second part of the routine, and I want you to really work on moving on the right counts, it should be like you can hear me counting in your heads at this point. If anyone needs me, ask Coach Barron, or I’ll be over with Lukas and Y/n.”
As the rest of the class started working, she headed in your direction.
“Are you two ready for this?” she asked sweetly.
“Yes,” responded Luke.
“Maybe,” you responded.
Mrs. Kelly looked like she was trying to fight back a laugh. “Well don’t worry, I think you’re in good hands here y/n. I wouldn’t have had him do this if I thought he was going to drop you,” she assured you. You nodded your head as you took a deep breath. You knew she was right, but that didn’t stop you from being nervous.
She quickly showed you the position that you needed to stay in for Luke to be able to keep a hold of you. Most of your part was balancing, and being graceful. Two things that you could do fairly well. Then she moved onto Luke, who had to grab a hold of you and stand up.
“So you’re going to twirl into him, then he’s going to hug around your upper thighs, then he’s going to stand up, and twirl you around,” she said as she loosely demonstrated the moves.
“You think you guys can make it that far?”
Luke glanced towards you, and you nodded. “Yeah,” he responded.
“Great, remember it doesn’t have to be pretty the first time. I just want to see what it looks like.”
You took a deep breath of air and you moved to your starting spot, as Luke lunged to the ground. “You got this,” he mouthed. You gave him a thumbs up in acknowledgement. You took his hand, and lightly spun into him. He caught your waist in his chest and his hands tightly locked around your legs just below your butt. Luke quickly stood up with you without loosening his grip. The air swooshed around you as you momentarily soared through the air. You kept your hands planted on his shoulders to keep your balance.
“Alright, very good, now try to spin her around, and y/n let go of his shoulders,” she instructed.
You slowly moved your hands off of him and into the air gracefully. You took your time so you didn’t throw Luke off balance with any sudden moves.
“You ready?” he asked hesitantly.
You nodded slightly and held your breath. Luke quickly turned on his heals as he gracefully spun you around. You let your breath go after the first circle. It wasn’t as scary as you thought it was, and Luke was not even relatively close to dropping you. As he continued spinning you openly smiled and let yourself relax as your hands extended to the side and you leaned back a little. Despite that the room was filled with students and that Mrs. Kelly was beside the two of you, it felt like you and Luke alone existed in that moment. All that mattered was that the two of you were connected, and that you couldn’t stop grinning if you tried. But your high had to reach an end eventually.
“You can go ahead and put her down,” Mrs. Kelly instructed Luke.
Luke eventually slowed to a stop, but then came to a standstill.
Luke didn’t take his eyes off of you as he spoke out of fear of dropping you. “How do you want me to put her down?”
“Oh, release your grip a bit and slowly let her glide down, so let go of your own hands and just hold onto her legs individually. And as she is gliding down your hands are going to glide up your sides,” she explained.
Luke raised an eyebrow in your direction. You watched him for a moment, confused as to what he was asking but it dawned upon you that he was asking if you were okay with that. You nodded once at him to answer. He cautiously let his hands slide across the back of your thighs and up to your hips. You did your best to keep a straight face and not squirm as his hands glided on your sides.
“That was amazing, you two!” Mrs. Kelly exclaimed once you were safely planted back on the ground.
“Thanks,” you said sincerely.
“Yeah, thank you,” Luke agreed.
“Okay, I want you two to go through that a couple more times before class ends, and then add it into the routine tomorrow. If you need me I’ll be up at the front, or helping someone,” she told you.
You playfully bumped into Luke after she had left. “That was pretty good, especially for your first go,” you admitted.
Luke fidgeted with the chain on his jeans. “Thanks, I think you looked pretty graceful yourself.” He bumped you back.
“Well then, you ready to do it again?” you asked as you took his hand.
Luke’s lips quirked up. “Always.”
..........
You were thankful when lunch arrived especially from the appetite you had worked up from dance class. Or course you went to your usual table with Flynn and Julie, but from the look on Flynn’s face you were certain that something had happened.
“Okay, so spill, and you better not leave out anything,” she warned.
You took your seat opposite of Julie and Flynn. “I literally just got here, what are you even talking about?”
“What do you mean what am I talking about? Hello, you and Luke? Enemies to lovers? The eye contact, the closeness, all of the above?” she rambled.
“Don’t be ridiculous, we are not lovers,” you scoffed. You avoided Flynn’s eye contact as you spoke.
“Says the one who couldn’t stop grinning the entire class,” Julie whispered under her breath, but it was loud enough for you to hear it.
“Ooooh she went there,” Flynn beamed. She raised her hand to fist bump Julie, who slyly went to return it before you abruptly stopped them.
“Hey! No! No fist bumping,” you said, and the girls both turned to you midair, “there is nothing to fist bump about because I don’t like him,” you protested.
“Y/n if you think how I act around Nick is bad, you should see yourself,” Julie teased.
You just blinked at her in disbelief. You had seen how Julie acted around Nick a couple times, and you knew there was no way you acted like that.
“I do not!” you defended yourself, though it came out as more of a whine.
“Oh, you so do, and that just proves it,” Flynn stated as she crossed her arms.
“As my brother would say, Y/n and Luke sitting in a tree-” Julie started singing, and, to your horror, Flynn joined along.
“K-I-S-S-I-N-G,” they sang. Before they could get any further, you loudly shushed them.
“Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine, if I admit that I like him will you two stop it?” you pleaded, as you nervously glanced around the cafeteria that someone was listening to them.
“Maybe?” Julie smirked.
“I’m starting to like Luke,” you quietly admitted.
“Oh I so saw this coming,” Flynn bragged.
“So did I,” Julie agreed. They finally finished their fist bump and you didn’t bother stopping them this time.
You nervously pulled at your hair. “So what do I do about it?”
Flynn clasped her hands in a very formal manner. “I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there’s not much you can do about it. That’s kinda how crushes work.”
You shrugged. “If I try hard enough maybe I can get rid of it though, or at least ignore it.”
“That’s a fucking terrible plan,” Flynn said bluntly.
“It’s better than making a fool out of myself in front of him,” you suggested weakly.
Julie briefly reached out to touch your hand. “Y/n if I can talk to Nick after what I said to him last weekend then, I think you can do this,” she assured you.
Flynn took a swig of her water. “Besides, I can guarantee you, your liking is not one sided,” she added. A large part of you wanted to believe her, but you were also confuzed how she was so certain.
“Why do you think he likes me?” you questioned.
Flynn’s eyes pointed past your shoulder. “Because, don’t look now but, he keeps looking over at you every couple of seconds.”
You gulped rather loudly, but you stayed facing forward. “He’s been sitting there for how long, and you guys didn’t tell me?” you whispered.
Julie raised an eyebrow. “Would you of wanted us to tell you?”
“Good point,” you agreed.
“So, do you believe us now?” Flynn asked.
“Maybe, but I’m going to have to hear it from him to believe it eventually,” you conceded.
Julie had a satisfactory grin on her face. “Well then it looks like you have some stuff to talk about after Friday,” she suggested.
“Lots of stuff,” Flynn agreed.
..........
As you walked into the classroom on Thursday morning you felt your nerves starting to creep back in. You weren’t certain if the nerves were about dancing or Luke, but you did your best to brush them away.
Julie was of course the first to notice this, and stopped you before you could walk past her to your spot. “Hey, you got this,” she assured you with a quick smile. You did your best to return her expression, but it was evident to her that you were faking it.
“Look at me,” she squeezed your arm lightly, “you’ve been working up to more complex dances for years. And as for Luke, if he doesn’t realize how amazing, beautiful, and talented you are, then he’s not worth your time.”
“Men generally aren’t,” Flynn commented. You stifled a laugh, and Julie tried not to smile. She tried to send a glare in Flynn’s direction but the corners of her lips betrayed her. Flynn grinned back at her but went back to changing her shoes.
Julie huffed and fondly rolled her eyes, “My point is, if he doesn’t see it, then he’s not good enough for you anyways. Now, come on go show everybody up.” She lightly pushed you in the direction of your corner.
You quickly thanked Julie as you headed over. Luke was already in your corner and surprisingly; he looked slightly nervous himself. “You ready for this?” he asked.
A sudden surge of confidence hit you from Julie’s words. “I was born ready,” you bragged.
Luke looked shocked for a moment but it morphed into a grin. “Finally, I thought you were never going to get there,” he scoffed.
“Whatever, starboy.”
Luke’s hazel eyes shimmered brightly. “Does that make you stargirl?” he questioned.
“You know because we’re dancer partners,” he quickly added.
You shrugged, “I guess it would.” You said it casually but inwardly you were anything but that. You were certain he didn’t mean anything by the nickname but you couldn’t keep from playing it over in your head.
Mrs. Kelly quickly started the class and ran through stretches so that everyone could get to practicing the dance for tomorrow. Luke and you decided to run through the full dance as many times as possible so you didn’t forget any of the parts the next day. You ran through the first part of the dance with minimal missteps. You quickly spun into him just as you had done the day before and carefully balanced yourself as you went up into the air. As the spin finished you nearly squirmed out of his arms as he went to set you down. You held your breath as you realized you were going to hit the ground. But he managed to slow your fall by having an arm around your stomach.
“What did I do that that just happened?” he chuckled. He offered you his hand up which you gratefully took. You knew that your face was on fire, not to mention the rest of your body. You popped your knuckles as you combed through your mind for an excuse. “Um, I just must’ve lost my balance a bit, can we try it again though?” you suggested.
He gave you a curious look but agreed.
You spun into him, and once again you did the lift and the spin almost perfectly. But as you were slowly released to the ground, you felt like his hands were digging into your sides further than last time. Luckily, Luke was prepared and managed to catch you before you even touched the ground.
Luke cocked his head to the side as the pieces started to come into place. “Are you ticklish?” he asked.
“No, why would you say that?” you said as you took a step back.
“Oh, you so are!” Luke happily exclaimed.
He went to poke your right side and you shifted to the left. He alternated and you went the opposite way. “I’m going to get you eventually,” he teased. You were narrowly missing his hands, but you could already feel your laughter building. Luke’s smile grew wider, and as you accidentally paused to take it in, he reached out to tweak your side and you let out a quiet giggle. “God, your laugh is cute,” he uttered under his breath. You heard him clearly, but you were a little preoccupied to comment on it, and while you were having fun, you knew that you were probably going to get into trouble. You quickly tried to think of a solution, and in your weakened state you said the first thing you thought of. “I will get you kicked out of this class,” you threatened. You weren’t certain why you had chosen to say that, but you couldn’t take it back now.
Luke cocked his head, “You’re going to get me kicked out?” he repeated.
You inwardly cringed. “That is what I said,” you admitted.
He looked slightly worried, “Is that possible?”
You crossed your arms, and you tried to keep from smiling which would give you away. “Do you really want to find out?”
“No,” he said as if he was asking a question.
“Exactly,” you smirked.
Luke crossed his arms and huffed. “Fine, I’ll try to not tickle you this time.” You could tell it was killing him that you had bested him, but he didn’t try it again.
You ran through the lift again and this time you were able to do it without squirming. Then you ran through the entire routine again, without stopping.
“How would you say that one was?” Luke asked.
“I would say we got this in the bag,” you said confidently.
He raised his hand and gave you a high five. “I hope so, otherwise Coach Barron’s going to be on our asses for the next month,” he ruefully admitted.
“We got this Luke, we’ve put in the work to be able to. Besides, we work well together,” you assured him.
Luke broke into a smile and you swore you saw him flush red for a second. “I think we do too.”
The two of you stood in an awkward silence for a couple seconds before the bell rang. Luke grabbed your stuff and handed it to you, and then grabbed his.
He cleared his throat.  “So what do you say if we get an A I’ll take you to get ice cream tomorrow? As a thank you for teaching me.” His eyes drifted towards yours but when you looked towards him, he quickly looked away.
“I would like that,” you happily agreed.
“Great! I’ll see you tomorrow stargirl.” Then he took off to catch up with his friends in the hallway. You couldn’t help yourself from grinning like a lovesick puppy, and when you looked up he was looking at you and waved. You chuckled and waved back at him. Maybe you did have a shot at him.
..........
“You ready Ladies?” you asked, as Flynn, Julie, and you walked into the studio.
“I’ve been ready,” Flynn scoffed as she tossed her hair.
You shook your head at your friend’s antics. “What about you Julie?”
“Nick’s pretty nervous, but I think we’re going to do just fine. He’s got some rhythm, and he’s really been trying,” Julie divulged.
“You guys are gonna do amazing, I mean no one can compete with your chemistry.” You playfully nudged her shoulder, and she nudged you right back.
“Except you and Luke.” Julie winked at you, and you pursed your lips.
“Hey, this isn’t about me. I was talking about you and Nick.”
Flynn decided that it was her moment to pop in. “Yeah, and now we’re talking about you and Luke.”
“How are you guys the best but also simultaneously the best but the worst?” you groaned.
“It’s kinda our thing,” Flynn said, as she wrapped an arm around you.
“Oh that reminds me, if we get an A, Luke is taking me out to get ice cream,” you suddenly blurted out. Your friends' faces were priceless.
“Like a date?” Julie estaticaly asked, but Flynn cut her off.
“Well get over there with your partner, I’m not letting this dance come in the way of my otp!” Flynn was practically pushing you over towards your spot.
“Okay, okay, I’m going!” you laughed.
As you turned around you saw Luke who wore a black button up and black jeans. You did your best to not start drooling right then. The shirt was tight enough on him that it left little to the imagination. The black complimented him incredibly well, and he looked just as good without the beanie as he did with it on. Despite the heart eyes going off in your mind, you kept your cool when you walked over to him.
Luke looked highly amused. “What was that about?” You panicked for a second that he had noticed your freakout, but then you realized he was just talking about your friends.
You licked your lips before responding. “Let’s just say Flynn really wants us to do well together.”
“Luckily for her, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.” He winked at you, and you did your best to maintain your composure.
“You got it starboy.”
“Okay, so I hope all of you are prepared for today. I want everybody to take a deep breath,” Mrs. Kelly instructed.  You glanced over towards Julie and Flynn, they both were starting to look nervous, but you were certain you held the same expression on your face. “Now, I want everybody to shake it out, and then get into position. And good luck!” she called out.
“You got this,” Luke whispered from behind you. You nodded, and inhaled a shaky breath. “You too,” you mouthed. The music started up and you let the week of muscle memory take over. The two of you moved in perfect unison and you soon found yourself smiling instead of nervous. It was only when you got to the lift that you tensed up again. You twirled into Luke, who gracefully caught you before pushing you into the air. As you spun around you extended your arms as Luke carefully held onto you. And as he lightly let you down you stayed perfectly still until your feet touched the floor. You inwardly cheered that you had done it successfully, but you had to continue moving into the second part. It seemed to fly by and a minute later your arms were latched together as the song closed on a fade. The room stood completely still for a couple seconds until various students cheered.
“Yes, we did it!” Luke yelled. You cheered along with him and the rest of the class. Luke gave you a celebratory double high fived, as you celebrated. But your hands never separated. Instead his hands clasped around yours.
“Is that okay?” he asked quietly.
The adrenaline still pumping through your body was making you a bit more bold than usual. You also held his hands as your arms fell to your sides. “Yes, it definitely is.”
“Alright, everyone listen up,” Mrs. Kelly called out. Luke and you faced the front, but kept one of your hands interlocked. Mrs. Kelly continued, “Okay, we’re going to walk around and give you your grades starting from the front to the back.”
You turned your head towards him. “That makes us last,” you realized with a grimace.
His hazel eyes fixed on yours with sincerity. “We’ll be fine, promise.” He gently stroked his thumb across the back of your hand which calmed you down a bit.
Your friends both cheered when they got their scores. Flynn got a B because her partner tripped, but she was plenty happy with it. Julie got an A, and accidentally hugged Nick in excitement. She looked mortified but Nick looked the happiest you had ever seen him. But finally, it was you and Luke’s turn.
You exchanged a nervous look and hand squeeze before Mrs. Kelly approached you. “So I know that I gave you and Luke a more difficult routine, and I must say you handled it with grace, and it turned out wonderfully. So for your chemistry, and for your talent. You two get an A!” she cheered.
You swore you could’ve jumped up and down with joy. “Hell yes!” you cheered. It soon occurred to you that you had accidentally said that outloud. Mrs. Kelly gave you a glare, but she was struggling to keep her composure.
“Sorry,” you grimaced.
“It’s alright, just don’t let Coach Barron hear you,” she laughed.
Luke started busted out laughing once she had walked away.
You lightly swatted his shoulder. “Are you laughing at my misery right now?”
He barely managed to stop laughing to answer you, and he was still grinning from ear to ear. “Yes, that was priceless, and you know it was funny too.”
You rolled your eyes, but your smile gave you away. “Alright, maybe you’ve got a point,” you admitted. “But we did it!”
“I guess that means I owe you an ice cream,” Luke reminded you.
Your eyes lit up. “Oh right, let’s go!”
Luke raised an eyebrow. “You do know we have school after this right?”
The high from dancing hadn’t wound down yet, and you were not in the mood to be in school. “Yes, and?”
Luke smirked. “You sure you want to skip?”
Before you could answer, a hand was around your other wrist. “Nope, she’ll see you after school Luke!” Julie called out as she dragged you out of the room.
Luke mouthed see you later, and you gave him a thumbs up as you were being pulled away.
..........
You felt someone taser your sides, and you yelped. “Luke!”
He shrugged. “Sorry, just couldn’t resist,” he teased. You pointed your index finger at him.
“Bullshit, you’re not sorry, but I’ll let it slide since you’re getting me ice cream.”
“You got your stuff?” he asked.
You shut your locker. “Yep, let’s go.”
As your eyes adjusted to the outside sun Luke looked around for your car. “Did you bring your car to school?”
You smiled proudly. “Nope, I knew we’d get an A, so I asked Julie’s dad to drive her today.”
Luke was shocked. “Are you serious?” You nodded.
“Wow, you really believed in us,” Luke said in amazement.
“Thanks, I think,” you laughed.
“Come on, the guys are waiting for us in the jeep,” he said, grabbing your hand and leading you over.
You went to take the back seat with Alex, but Reggie quickly overided you. “Nope, you’re sitting in the front with Luke,” he insisted.
“It’s okay, I’ll sit in the back Reggie, it’s cool,” you assured him.
“You’ll never hear me say this again, but I’m with Reggie, you’re sitting in the front,” Alex argued.
You made eye contact with Luke who just grinned instead of helping you.
“Fine, you guys win, I’ll go in the front.”
Once the seating arrangement was changed the ride was fairly peaceful. As it turned out, both Alex and Reggie were incredibly nice. Not that you had expected any different, they had always seemed kind in school, but you had never really spoken to them much.
“Okay Reggie, don’t crash my jeep, and Alex make sure Reggie doesn’t crash my jeep,” Luke instructed as he handed over the keys.
“You got it,” Reggie said with a salute, and Alex gave him a reassuring smile.
“Your friends are really nice,” you spoke as they pulled out.
“Yeah, I lucked out with them,” Luke said fondly.
“Now, come on, I’m practically dying of hunger.” You pulled him by his hand into the shop. You ordered three scoops of your favorite flavor and Luke got a birthday cake shake.
He opened the door for you as you walked outside to find a table. “Thanks for getting me ice cream Luke,” you said as you sat down.
“Anytime stargirl.” His eyes especially shimmered in the sunlight.
“Do you know your eyes are really pretty?” you commented.
“Do you know that I think you’re really pretty?” You found that you could no longer look into his eyes.
Luke took a hold of one of your hands. “Y/n?”
You looked from your hands to his face. “Yes?”
Luke’s face softened. “Thank you for teaching me.”
“You don’t need to thank me Luke. You taught me things too,” you pointed out.
Your comment puzzled Luke. “Like what?”
“Like you think somebody is super annoying, and then when you get to know them, they are actually quite sweet.”
Luke soaked up your words for a moment before narrowing his eyes. “Did you just call me super annoying?”
You threw your hands up in frustration. “That’s the part that you’re focusing on!” you laughed.
“I was not super annoying!” he defended himself.
You pointed towards yourself, “I beg to differ.” You held a Luke sized smirk on your face, which unfortunately, he returned.
“Fine, how’s this for annoying?” he taunted.
“Wha-Luke!” You screeched as he dug into your side. His hand still held onto one of yours, and your other hand was uselessly batting as his.
It was clear that he was enjoying himself. “Am I annoying now?” he teased.
“Yehehehes!” you giggled defiantly.
“Good.” He smirked and moved his hand into your armpit. You bit back a scream as his hand scratched at your hollows.
“Okhahay! You’re not annoying!” you screamed.
“That’s what I thought.”
“You are lucky I like you,” you huffed. It took you a couple of seconds to realize what you had said, but once you did you immediately started to panic.
Luke lifted your chin up to look at him. “Y/n?”
“Yes?” You were a ball of nerves.
“I like you too,” he admitted.
“Oh thank god.” You breathed a sigh of relief.
Luke looked puzzled but simultaneously amused. “Why else do you think I would’ve brought you on a date?”
Your eyes widened as everything started adding up in your mind. “This is a date?” you exclaimed.
“Y/n are you serious?” Luke laughed.
“Yes!”
“Yes, it’s a date. But if it makes you feel any better, I’ll ask.” Luke got down on one knee and took both of your hands in his.
“Y/n will you be my girlfriend?” he asked sweetly.
Your eyes glittered with joy. “Of course starboy.”
