The unbeatable "you are useful to me for this reason"/ I'm keeping you alive for this reason". At first it's true, BUT time goes on...and feelings are developed, they start using it as an excuse to protect them, to keep them close. To hide the undeniable truth.

UNTIL. THEY. DON'T. It's the moment they just want to be with them and have absolutely no fucks to give about what anyone says about it. They love this person and they want to make them happy.

It will always, always, always melt my heart the moment when A and B are looking at something really pretty, really nice and A says or asks "It's beautiful"/"Isn't it beautiful?"

And B that at first may have been looking at it says:

"Yes"

And then turns to A with that look of "I've loved you since the day I met you" to continue with

"It's beautiful"

I'll tell you, it never gets old for me.

Hi, I’m talking about the love curses in OUAW again for the thousandth time, because I finally understand Richie’s interpretation of it after seeing it again in the Yuletide oneshot.

Okay, so obviously Mikey’s and even Andy’s interpretation of the love curses doesn’t go any further than skin deep. They just see the item of their affection and essentially become Ron from that one video of the two birds. And id say it’s fairly in character for the two goblinoids.

Rich’s interpretation of the love curse, I’ve noticed, is just closeness. It’s not as obvious with Briggsy in the Yuletide oneshot, but it’s especially obvious with Kremy during the wedding in episode 15. Sure, Kremy got jealous, but that wasn’t the only thing. He just. Wanted to be close to Gideon (closer than I bet he normally is).

Kremy didn’t start really talking to Gid until AFTER he was affected with the curse, to which he couldn’t shut up. And because they were standing at the altar, the two of them had to keep leaning in to sidebar, hence getting closer. Then was Kremy’s suggestion of feeding each other the peanut butter pie/cake, and the dancing. Even after the curse had long since dissipated, it almost seems like Kremy keeps fighting himself between getting closer to Gideon as well as putting distance between them.

And then there’s Mace’s interpretation with Gideon, which is interesting. Because the first time Gideon got the love curse, he was mostly just. Admiring Kremy. Calling him beautiful/perfect, regardless of form; helping him fix his mustache; nodding along to Kremy’s stupid Shants scheme. I mean, there was also the noticeable sexual attraction—like with the goblinoids—but this is also Gideon we’re talking about. And also, this only applied to the first time, when it applied to Kremy. Which is also interesting because Gideon does most of this stuff normally, it’s just that any romantic undertones were repressed. Hidden. But once he was under the love curse, it was like all of those repressed affections for Kremy came forth, louder than ever (which might also be the reason why Gideon was able to verbally admit he loved Kremy, whereas Kremy couldn’t, even when he was under his curse)

But for Bumbo? None of that really applied. It was barely below skin deep. In fact, Gideon even mentioned that he knew that Bumbo was just a clown using the body of his best friend. Gideon was just kinda…sad? He was sad that Bumbo was sad, and that Gideon had killed him, but that was the end of it, really. Which makes sense since Bumbo is his own entity, separate from Kremy, so of course none of the same things apply to someone who isn’t Kremy.

And, again, even after the curse had long since dissipated, you can still see some of the more notable traces throughout the rest of the campaign. Like Gideon listening and egging Kremy on about his Witches Brew idea (and the whole Taper Tots idea), Kremy being the first one he ran to once he got his fire back, worrying about Kremy not eating enough, etcetera, etcetera.

But he’s also seemingly trying to put distance between the two of them—while Kremy is trying to close that same distance—and has been since the first love curse.

Idk man, I think the love curse is really fucking interesting, and I’m going to pick these two dumbasses apart cell by cell until OUAW picks back up in the new year

Hi Maria! What soups have you been making/enjoying lately? That’s awesome that you’ve been making soup (and bread!) regularly!

Ooooo Luna do you want to hear about my holy grail?

Start with this roasted butternut squash soup.

With the squash, I also roast two shallots (or one sweet onion) and one red bell pepper, each quartered. I brush everything with olive oil and season with nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper, and chili power before roasting for an extra hit of fall flavor, and I’ve tried curry powder for a more curry-like flavor that’s also good!

Instead of sautéing the garlic, you can also roast your garlic cloves (drizzled with olive oil) in a foil packet, adding the packet to your baking sheet halfway through.

It’s easier for me to just roast everything instead of roasting and also sautéing—just plop everything in the blender (I have to do batches of 1/4 of the vegetables with 1 cup of broth at at time, but ymmv) and boom soup.

This makes 8 bowls! Serve with bread, crackers, or salad. If you’re super ambitious, you can save the squash seeds and roast for the top Panera style!

about Caelus

yes, he is messy. but he won't harm others. yes, he is childish. but he won't be convinced into committing an unforgiving crime. yes, he digs through trash cans with an aspiring passion. but he will never blame me for his mistakes. yes, he is a human equivalent of a raccoon. but he is clever, he is kind and warm and will not allow others to take advantage of him. and he is loyal to the bone and when he kisses me... when I kiss him, sometimes I feel like he blushes more than me. how does it feel like to kiss a star? he is one giddy star. the type that giggles with a boyish charm when I kiss him goodnight. a bright star with abnormal warmth and I can't help but gravitate to him. to seek his body next to mine. which he is almost always eager to do. my cuddly Caelus. my... just. just cuddly Caelus. despite his preference for a soft bed, he always sleeps on the hard floor in the archive with me. one pillow, one blanket.

weirdly, he is quieter than me. I still recall his silence when he saw my Vidyadhara form. days later he explained that he was shocked... and found me extremely attractive.

it was a strange sensation. him licking my horns. it is little to say I was surprised. yes, he does out-of-pocket things. but he only has the best intentions and means no harm.

thanks to him I feel more comfortable in it. although, I only relax in that form when I sleep. it requires concentration to appear the way I usually do.

Caelus is also a menace in the way he will wake me up by nibbling on my neck, leaving small bite marks.

"in my defense, I like the way you sound when I do" he would usually use as an excuse.

Pom-Pom told me Caelus was soon getting his own room. that they have been working on a new part of the train. he seems excited about it. overjoyed even. he kept asking if that meant that he was getting a roommate.

last night, Caelus insisted that I share the room with him. promising to buy turquoise or blue sheets and play water sounds so that it may feel like the archive. ... he is adorable. my Caelus

first night in his room. what a messy sleeper. and cute in the morning. I woke up before him, which is rare. the room was chilly so I got my hands under his shirt and cuddled more for warmth. strangely I was woken up by him rubbing my scalp and leaving kisses on my forehead. I fell more in love with him that morning. the reasoning behind his actions he voiced with big golden eyes and a rough morning voice, "I'm happy". loving him feels easy.

"you like the room that much?"

"no, I'm not talking about the room."

"don't lie, you were practically screaming when you heard you're getting a room."

"okay, okay- maybe~ but screw the room if you're not with me."

yes, he is messy. but he won't break my heart.

I would love to talk to you about plain old Lu if you want that's all I ever do lol but I haven't much in a while you wanna talk about Hyrule? Because he needs more love

HYRUUUUUULE I LOVE HIM SM

He’s always been one of my favorites (cause in a roundabout way, Zelda 1 & 2 were my first zelda games via NES remix) and I love his characterization in lu :)

He’s humble about his skills and insecure about his place among all these heroes (I mean, look at him when Warriors compliments him on being a knight in that one comic, he looks so awkward!) even though he’s earned his place among them twice over! Just because he’s not a knight doesn’t mean he’s at least as skilled as one, and he’s shown his worth multiple times already.

He’s also sassy, which I feel like is a characteristic of his that often gets overlooked in favor of his humbleness (which I think people mistake for meekness, which, while Hyrule does have his moments, I’m pretty sure he’s been sassy more often than he’s been meek!). He’s got a mouth on him! He teases Time of all people! More than once! I know we often give the snarky remark role to Legend, but I think him and Hyrule share it sometimes tbh.

Oh I also have to mention his silly puns. Oh man. “Everything has its likes alike” “well they’re still ruins, just not ruined” HE’S SO GOOFY!! His jokes are terrible but he makes them anyway and he’s always cracking little things like that and just generally acting goofy.

And then he can be epic too!!! The comic where he and Warriors are beating up those monsters with fire is one of my absolute favorites, because we get to see Hyrule go ham with his magic!!! Look at how awesome he is!!! And he saved Twilight too!!! He exhausted himself trying, and refused to give up, even when his attempts had no sign of working he just kept going and fighting because my boy doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase ‘give up’!!!

He’s a wanderer and traveler, he’s a good fighter and he’s humble and he cares dearly for his friends and people and his land, and he thinks he doesn’t deserve to be here and he’s sassy and chivalrous and makes bad jokes and loves exploring and has amazing skills and magic and he is truly one of the Links ever. I love him.
