It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been active on here, and I apologise. I’ve been somewhat distracted with preparation for the new term, and writing fell into a bit of a slump.

Anyway, I have a (Mildly late) present for one of my favourite historical characters, Louis Antoine Leon de Saint-Just!

I got into the French Revolution at the start of this year, and it’s been a delight to get to know the period, it’s characters and their relationships. Saint-Just immediately captured my attention, and as it was his birthday yesterday, I thought I’d write something for him.

Saintspierre is a great ship, and whilst I think it’s very historically unlikely, I love it from a writer and storyteller’s POV, so just had to write it for Antoine’s birthday. Hopefully you all like this sweet little love confession, and Maxime pining. 💙🤍❤️

Peter Lorre in "Dantons Tod." (Danton’s Death), Volksbühne, Theater am Bülowplatz, Berlin, Aug. 31, 1929. Lotte Lenya was also in the cast.

Peter Lorre played Louis Antoine Leon de Saint-Just, a member of the Committee of Public Safety, who allows that "humanity comes out of the cauldron of blood."

"Lorre presented a radically different spectacle from the heavy-lidded simpleton in Pioniere in Ingolstadt. Outfitted in a military uniform and wearing a blond wig, he appeared older and physically commanding—all the more so, one imagines, since the actors spoke their lines directly to the audience. Hi my name is Louis Antoine Leon de Saint-Just and I have wavy brunette hair that reaches my shoulders and billows dramatically behind me whenever I enter or leave a room and icy violet eyes like iris petals and a lot of people tell me I look like Kylo Ken (AN: if u don’t know who he is get da hell out of here!).

I’m not related to Voltaire but I wish I was because he’s a major fucking hottie. I’m a man in 18 century Europe but my teeth are straight and white. I have pale white skin. I’m also a deputy to the National Convention in France, and I'm a member of the Committee of Public Safety (where I'm known as the Angel of Death). I’m a Robespierrist (in case you couldn’t tell) and I wear mostly black. I love Sujet Chaud and I buy all my clothes from there. For example today I was wearing a black coat with a high cravat and a red carnation in my button and a gold earring in my left ear. I was walking outside the Tuleries Palace. It was snowing and raining so there was no sun, which I was very happy about. A lot of Dantonists stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.

Who's Saint-Just?

Louis Antoine Leon de Saint-Just was a military and political leader during the French Revolution. He was the youngest of the deputies elected to the National Convention in 1792. Large supporter of Robespierre and a close confidant. Guillotined along with Robespierre in 1794.
