Some Maurice headcanons, if you even care:

• Is short-sighted but doesn’t care enough to get glasses (-2.00)

• Is Italian, but he’s trilingual (Italian, English, and French).

• Loves marine biology, just like his dad, who he looks up to. I think Maurice definitely has one of the better relationships with his father and family in general.

• Plays the violin

• Collects sea glass with his younger brother since they lived near the beach before moving to England just before the war started. Used to live in Trieste.

• Misses Italy a lot, he prefers sunny weather to dreary English rain. It makes his hair frizzy.

**SOME OF THESE WONT MATCH UP!! THERE WILL BE ALIVE PIGGY AND SIMON HEADCANONS AND DEAD SIMON AND PIGGY HEADCANONS!**

• maurice is a theatre kid and likes to attended plays/musicals with simon

• everyone joked about having to put a ban on weapons so jack doesn’t attack anyone but in reality jack is terrified of weapons because he doesn’t know if he would go savage again and keep murdering

• ralph has a lisp that he grew out of but sometimes it comes out when he’s upset

• sometimes sam will age regress from trauma and eric has to comfort him. eric often keeps comfort items and other things to help support his twin

• roger and simon were secretly dating during all the events of the island. it wrecked roger when he died but no one noticed because he hid his emotions. roger would leave in the middle of the night to cry in the woods and mourn simon

• piggy wrote a book about his experience on the island as a way to cope and actually got it published

• ralph started drinking as a way to cope with the trauma of the island. tequila is his favorite

• the choir will decorate simon’s wheelchair and crutches with stickers and have even started a sticker economy where they trade stickers and buy stickers of higher and lower values. simon is the sticker master

• ralph convinced his local church to make memorials for simon and piggy. he visits them every day without fail

• roger left the choir immediately after getting home. he won’t admit it, but he links the choir to the post island trauma

• maurice became EXTREMELY religious as a way to cope

• sam and eric collect funko pops

• jack got rebaptized as a way of coping. he wanted to feel “clean” again, despite his violent tendencies staying

• ralph suffers from depersonalization/derealization disorder

• roger’s mum tried to disown him after finding out he killed a boy on the island

• maurice is really good with kids and has “maternal” instincts. it’s a trauma response from wanting to protect the innocent littluns

• piggy caught feelings for ralph while on the island but never said anything because he thought people would hate him for it

• sam likes comic books

• jack would have night terrors and would constantly wake others up. everyone dreaded when they had to share a hut with him

LOTFTOBER, DAY 6 : Childhood

Here, take some headcanons!

RALPH

Ralph has severe ADHD and, therefore, was never a prefect at his school

He also has Dyslexia (halfbloooddd /jk)

Ralph’s an only child, and doesn’t really ‘get’ sibling bonds

Absolute math nerd; he’s never gotten an C or lower

When he was younger, he begged his dad to read him stories, and would constantly ask ‘what word is that’ and ‘how do you say that’ in the middle of the story

His dad would sometimes sing him songs before he went to bed

Whenever he had a nightmare, he’d go wake up his parents and they’d read him more books while he played with his dog (golden retriever named Juno)

Definitely lived in the country and DEFINITELY a horse boy

Collected miniature glass horse statues, and he keeps them all on a shelf

• He used to runaway and sit in nature whenever he couldn’t handle all of the pressure he felt from teachers nagging about his Dyslexia

JACK

Jack has SEBD and a little Autism

He’s also allergic to cats, which is troublesome, because Simon loves to pet the neighborhood strays

Maurice + Jack are troublemakers

He stole things that he found cool when he was little

He figured out he was Trans when he was around 10-11, so it wasn’t too much of a shock for friends

His family constantly struggled though, and always used “she/her” pronouns (on accident or on purpose) at family dinners

Which confused his cousins, Sam’nEric (not my original headcanon)

ROGER

Roger’s dad is a Detective; his mom died in childbirth

He grew up on his grandparents Bee Farm

Roger always hung out with the Bees, and afterwards he always smelled like Lavender

“Roger.”

“Yes Merridew.”

“Do you use perfume?”

“ .  .  . “

“ .  .  . No?”

He always had his nose stuck in mystery/suspense books

Of the many upon his shelves, Sherlock Holmes and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde are his favorites

Roger has ASPD, and Simon was like a life vest for him

SIMON

Simon’s Autistic

He loves Dinosaurs, Space, and Animals; he will yap about all of them

He would trade any new Dinosaur facts he learned for his grandmother’s bird facts

Simon’s also Dysgraphic

He loves doing crafts; most definitely made friendship bracelets for the Choir

He was recommended by his school for the Church Choir, that’s how he met Jack and all them

He practically lives in his head

That’s one thing Roger [liked] thought was interesting about him

MAURICE

Maurice was a problem child

In so many ways

Being part of a huge family, his parents were always working

They spent time with all his older siblings until there was a new baby on the way, then they were all forgotten

Once you were born you were always sent to the neighbors next door, or, if you’re lucky, your grandparents

That’s how Maurice was raised, and despite everything, he loved it

He grew up with his grandparents and Bill’s parents, both who urged his teetering between genders

He even dyes his hair! First ginger-ish, then ombré blonde (he has black hair)

They also quickly found out that Maurice isn’t like his siblings

He has Selective Mutism + ADHD—and an extra thumb—as well as a keen mind that he sets on getting attention from his parents

Whether that be getting “stuck” in a closet, using the helium of a balloon to raise his voice, or getting in one too many fights, he’s tried everything

Did it ever work? Yes. Did he get the response he wanted? No.

Maurice had a wild home life, and all those problems followed him throughout his life

Thus dubbed, a problem child

BILL

Bill’s parents used that cheese trick on him when he was young

The one where you throw a piece of cheese on your kid’s head when they’re crying, and they magically stop

It was a little after he was born; his mom was resting up and his dad was taking care of him

He was crying so much that his dad took a piece of cheese off his mom’s food tray and put it on his head

They shared this information with Maurice’s parents, too, and now it’s a joke between the two boys

Bill’s colorblind, so if you look at any of his childhood drawings, you may be a little confused

He’s embarrassed by them, and vowed never to draw again

He actually still does, he just never colors it in

Bill grew up loving trains and planes

He heard stories of the Night Witches, and heard about America and their Steam Trains

He just loved that kind of thing

P.S. his favorite book is the Runaway Bunny

SAM’NERIC

Sam’nEric could communicate as babies when they were apart

I mean that in one room, Sam would go “AH!!” and Eric would reply from another room going “EHHH!!”

They have that twin telepathy dynamic where some people actually believe it

In reality, they just know each other really well

Eric: “*staring at Sam*”

Sam: “No we can’t go to the fair!”

Eric loves the fair, it’s one of his favorite childhood memories

The twins are kind of polar opposites: Sam loves the country, Eric loves the city; Sam loves legends, and Eric would rather have all the facts

Sam used to tell scary stories to the Choir when they were all really young, but he was quickly banned from doing so because Eric would always rush in the middle of the nightly service crying and screaming about whatever creepy thing Sam made up that night

The twins loved doing community service; it’s a big thing for them as their mom basically raised them around the idea

PIGGY

Piggy constantly helped out in his Auntie’s Candy Shop

Aside from eating them, I mean

He would help sell them and pitch ideas for new flavors, shapes, and themes!

He’d also help decorate during the holidays

Decorating is how Piggy calms down, and even since he started doing it when he was young, it became a tradition

His dad was murdered and when his mom couldn’t handle him and her grief, she handed him off

He always tries to follow rules, scared that whoever came after his dad will come after him next

Piggy had a blue teddy bear that he used to carry around all the time

He still has it, it just stays on his bed all day

He also used to have a dog!

His name was Brutus

I spent a couple hours coming up with middle and last names for lotf characters, and I wanted to share them :D !!

I had to give them names because I’m writing a lil fanfiction (I’m not used to writing it’s just taking some time 😭😭), and I just decided to go all out.

so here are my lotf character name headcanons and their explanations :))))) (sorry it looks off, I pasted this from my Google docs)

Ralph Mael Allebach

Mael - means “chief” so why not

Allebach - I saw other people using it.

Peterkin William “Piggy” Cunningham

Peterkin - continuing the pattern of taking names from The Coral Island. If people do not call him Piggy, they will call him either Peter or Ken because Peterkin is a stupid name.

William - just sounds British

Cunningham - like how Peterkin from The Coral Island is happy, and his last name is Gay, I decided to make Piggy’s surname reflect himself. I chose Cunningham 1. because it has the word “cunning” in it (Piggy is intelligent) 2. because it has the word “ham” in it (…Piggy) and 3. because I think it sounds good.

Jack Leopold Alaric Merridew

I think if Jack is conditioned to have others call him by his last name, his parents are probably high class and extra and decided to give him four names. I chose these because they sounded pretentious. These names are also probably taken from somewhere in his family, so I guess he’s a little German or something.

Leopold - means “brave people”

Alaric - means “all-powerful ruler”

Simon Mircea Cambourne

Mircea - means “peace”

Cambourne - apparently this is his name in one of the play adaptations? Also I saw other people using it.

Sam Andrew Voros and Eric Dashiell Voros

Andrew - just picked a name that sounds right

Dashiell - just picked a name that sounds right. also this names sounds cool

Voros - I just feel like they would be the DaVinki twins in modern times…

Roger Benjamin Elwin

Benjamin - just picked a name that sounds right

Elwin - Roger’s actor in the 1963 movie was named Roger Elwin. Apparently, he also had some similarities to Roger personality-wise.

Maurice Luca Bellomo

Luca - just picked a name that sounds right. also it means “bringer of light”

Bellomo - I saw some people, specifically mccall-me-maurice, use it.

tries on dresses and makeup that his older sister left behind

His diary has a lot of fashion designs in it. 

Maurice cannot sit still for the life of him

Is actually fairly strong (strongest one on the island imo, Ralph in 2nd)

Has actually drawn himself as an animal a few times, (Hyena and a Llama)

Him and Roger are friends, kinda

Can speak Argentine Spanish

Post-Island, he started avoiding the rest of the choir (especially Roger and Jack)

He wanted to leave Jack's tribe after the feast but was too scared to.

Regularly visits Simon's grave and gives him flowers and stuff that Simon liked.

Is the one most likely to confess about his crimes

maurice is one of the only people who really knows roger’s past and he’s pretty defensive about it

similarly, roger knows maurice’s sensitive topics and will just threaten people if they’re brought up. bro is like 🙂🙂 move on rn.

maurice has a BILLION nicknames for roger and maurice has always just been ‘maurice’

they have matching cross necklaces, but roger hates wearing his because he’s not catholic

maurice is catholic. roger is wicken. generally, they disagree on a lot of religion stuff

LOTF Christmas Headcannons

Jack:

Would 100% make Christmas dinner and would sing Christmas songs while doing it (he believes that he's the best cook out of everyone)

Ralph:

Would taste test everything that Jack made and would critize it just to make Jack mad (secretly thinks Jack is a great cook and loves his food)

Piggy:

Would be forced by everyone else to dress up as Santa Clause for the littluns (says he hates it but secretly enjoys how happy the littluns are when they see him)

Simon:

Would help the littluns organize their gifts and play with them

Roger:

Would give some of the littluns gifts like bb guns, those toy bow and arrows, dart boards, etc (all the dangerous toys little kids shouldn't have)

Maurice:

Would play with the littluns (kinda helps Simon out a little bit)

SamnEric:

Jack would force them to help set the table and get things ready (would sneak off to hang with Simon and Maurice and play with the littluns when Jack wasn't looking)

Percival:

Roger got him a bb gun and is now crying because Roger had him "accidentally" shoot another littlun with it (Roger was guiding him/showing him how to use it and aimed it at another littlun and made Percival pull the trigger)

LOTF boys but it’s the game pigeon game i think they’d be the best at

Jack : pool or chess 100%. he knows how to move the thing on the pool ball like a real pro, and he is an irl chess player. so he just absolutely slaughters at both of the games.

Ralph : sea battle (otherwise known as battle ships, if ur a man of culture such as myself). he just places his boats so strategically and his daddy is in the fucking navy so he can kill you at sea battle.

Piggy : probably fucking ANAGRAMS. any word, he smashes instantly and everyone hates him for it because after they beat him at everything else, he’s like 🤓☝️ let’s play anagrams!

Roger : darts. his aim is too good, he threw those rocks at those kids. he’s good at darts.

Simon : filler! it’s a strategy game but simon crushes it every time and nobody wants to play against him anymore.

Sam and Eric : shuffleboard. it’s easily the most confusing game on the whole app and the twins r like yeah bro we know how to play we’ll help then they destroy you

my lotf ethnicity headcanons 😁 feel free to agree/disagree/headcanon these

ralph is polish-british, both his parents having polish in them, but his dad being mostly british. he speaks fluent english and is close to fluent polish

jack is british/irish/german. both his parents are british, but his dad is irish and his mum is german. he speaks fluent english and german and knows basic irish. when he gets angry, a soft german accent slips into his voice

piggy is mostly british with a little bit of french. french runs in his mum’s side. he speaks fluent english, french, and surprisingly enough german

simon is indian-british. his mum is indian and his dad is british. he would be monoethnic indian like his sisters and mum, but that man left, leaving his mum to move to britain and find a nice british man to marry. he speaks fluent english and hindi.

roger is dominican-british. his dad is dominican and his mum is british. his mum also has a bit of italian running in her side of the family. he speaks fluent english and spanish. when frustrated (or lazy ig lol) a dominican accent will come into his voice

sam and eric are russian-british. their mum is russian and their dad is british. their dad has a tiny bit of russian on his side of the family. they speak fluent english and partial russian

maurice is italian-british. he is mostly italian, as his mum is almost entirely italian and his dad is italian-british as well. he speaks fluent english and italian, but speaks italian better than english. he carries a light italian accent.
