For my final project, using everything we learned, we redesign Loteria cards with limited pallets! Monochromatic, complementary, triadics, and a custom palette! I'm proud and I had fun using acrylic gouache.

búsqueda, 2019.

highfired stoneware clay, wooden frames, altered Lotería cards, cloth, soil, string, found objects, buttons, waxed string. installation size varies.

“búsqueda” means “search.”

búsqueda was actually really fun to install. it took so long, it was a tedious drag but i enjoyed how it came out. i really got into string and color in 2019. this is as site-specific as it gets. i curated this particular show and had to see all the other pieces before i was able to see how my work would flow in.

for this installation, i knew i wanted to bring together pieces from previous works, as i tend to do. i also knew i wanted to incorporate string into it since it is such a strong visual indicator of connectivity. the idea was to make a focal sculpture that would branch out and connect all the other parts of the installation. i like the landscape these pieces ended up creating and i loved how the string running through each piece reminded me of electrical lines out in our surroundings.

glimpses of places and people are represented in the objects here. ideas of spreading, self awareness, hybridity, duality, and growth are manifested in this exhibition.

El Cazo lotería card for @cactusgallery still not the full shot, but here is some more of her. Still need to get a good one full face and body. So I picked el cazo the lotería card is just a pot to cook with. I was watching like water for chocolate a few weeks ago again, has anyone seen it? It’s a mexican saying that means I’m like water for chocolate boiling water is made to make chocolate, so it means being boiling mad. In the story the character takes all her feelings and puts them into her cooking which then creates a spell to all that eat her food. When she is sad and cooks everyone gets into bouts of crying. Poem by opal unicorn : the tears should be transmitted into a pot of gold at the end of a beautiful rainbow, into the heart it can turn the greatest sadness into joy, my cazo runneth over with flames of magic elixir , unicorn magic, and dreams. It flows with glowing glittering, neon electric forcefields of pure intention .
