Request: Okay so this may be totally very random but idk either- the idea just popped into my head but my writer ass is too filled up with school to have motivation to write so- but like onto the idea.

So like, reader is maybe like, a student/works part time at the lab? And theyre everyones favourite as they can get along with everyone (even hodges though he would be the last to admit it-) but their grades are slipping majorly and no one knows as they keep up the 'im fine' mask before diverting the topic, like how that person is.

But one day maybe they get a grade or something in a subject they really studied for and its very bad or something else happens and someone just finds them in a very random spot and its all fluff :(?

You nervously checked your phone again before shoving it back in your pocket. God, you hated waiting for results. It seemed like you'd been on a losing streak recently. No matter how hard you were studying your grades were consistently low. You knew some of your classmates thought it was because of your job in the crime lab but you wouldn't give it up for the world.

"How's it going?" Hodges spoke from the other side of the room.

"Everything's fine." You forced a smile "the tests are running."

"Perfect." He returned his attention back to the work in front of him "You can go for a break if you want. Go grab a coffee, just be back to get the results."

"Thanks. Want me to make you one?" 

The man waved you off and gave you a smile "I'll be ok but thank you." Standing up you made sure everything was safe before leaving the room.

Getting into the break room you poured yourself a drink before looking at the snacks on offer today before turning and taking a seat at the table.

"How's it going?" Greg sat across from you at the table, a drink of his own in his hand.

"I'm ok, pretty quiet morning so far."

He laughed "today does seem slower, huh?" He took a sip of his drink as you did yours "have you had the test results back?"

"Yours should be done soon, Hodges told me to take a break while they were-"

"Not those." He interrupted "your grade for the-"

"Oh, they haven't come back yet."

"Are you nervous?"

You shook your head and took another sip of your drink, feeling the hot liquid slightly scold your mouth and throat. "I studied hard, it should be fine like always."

"I respect your positivity so much" he smiled as he checked his phone and then  downed the last part of his drink, you weren't sure how he did it really, you knew you wouldn't be able to with the coffee at this temperature. "I have to run but let me know when you get the grade back." As he stood he placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder and gave it a light squeeze "good luck."

You gave him a smile and thanked him but before you knew it he was gone. Enjoying the rest of the silence you flipped through one of the newspapers left on the table before eventually finishing your coffee and cleaning your mug. Walking back down the corridor towards your workstation you felt a notification come in on your phone. Seeing it was your results you opened it immediately but instantly regretted it, another failed test. Diving for the nearest door you opened flung it open and threw yourself through into it. As you stared at your phone screen you could feel tears coming to your eyes quickly as your chest began to feel tighter. This couldn't be happening, not again.

Nick had seen your odd behaviour as he turned the corner. Speeding up his pace he knocked lightly on the storage cupboard door "Y/N is everything ok?" he listened carefully for a response but instead heard your quiet sobs through the door. Opening it carefully he slid inside and his heart felt sorry for you as soon as your tear filled eyes met his.

"Come here." His whispered opening his arms. You closed the small distance and were soon in his arms, allowing him to hug you. "What happened?"

"The test." You sobbed "I just got my grade back" another sob "I failed." 

"It's ok. It's ok." The man placed his one hand on your hair to comfort you more as he brought you into his chest. 

As he did Greg came to the door and opened it carefully, seeing the two of you he gave Nick a questioning look and mouthed the words 'what's up?' 

'Grades' Nick mouthed back and Greg nodded his head. Leaning against the door frame he looked at you sympathetically, knowing how difficult it could be.

"I know it's silly." You pulled away from Nick and wiped your face. "But I worked so hard and it's just like I'm running in circles. Maybe I'm just not good enough."

"Don't say that." Nick said calmly

"Y/N you're literally incredible. Probably the most promising I've seen around here in forever. You're so clever and definitely have what it takes." It was Greg speaking now.

Looking at the man with tears in your eyes you swallowed a sob "It really doesn't feel like it right now."

Nick placed his hand on your shoulder lightly. "You should have said something if you're struggling with grades. We could have helped you out." 

"I didn't want you to all think I was stupid."

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" Greg teased lightly "We're all in awe at how much you have going on and we'd never think you were stupid."

"Man, you teach me something new most days." Nick added in, moving his hand from your shoulder to your back, gesturing forward with his other hand "let's move from the closet though, it's cramped in here and there's better places to cry in the lab."

Nodding you allowed the men to walk you to somewhere more appropriate, the two of them giving warning glances to anyone staring or small shakes of their head in a 'drop it' fashion to those who looked like they were going to interfere. 

Sitting down at your desk, Hodges handed you your results as the two men stood next to you, clearly puzzled by everyone's expressions he had to fill the silence "what's going on-"

"I failed" You cut him off. 

The man's jaw was slack "What? How? Wasn't this exam in your main field of expertise? We work on it most days."

You nodded and rested your elbows on the table and your chin on your hands as your eyes skimmed the results he'd handed you "yep."

"You have to ask for a remark."

"Leave it." Nick spoke as he pulled up a stool next to you.

You sighed if Nick and Greg knew, David should probably know too since you worked with him everyday and you were actually quite close to the man. "I've been pretty consistent with my failing grades this semester." You didn't raise your eyes from the piece of paper.

"There has to be some form of favouritism going on." The man shook his head "you've never once made an error in this lab-"

Greg interrupted the man "I don't think this is helping right now."

"No it's fine." You looked up at the men "What's done is done. I can try and redeem myself in the next one but if I fail that too I'll probably have to kiss the lab goodbye."

Hodges grumbled "I'll help you. Whatever you need I'll help."

"Can't we just show them the work you do here? Would that help your grade?" Nick questioned.

You shrugged "we could try, but they'd probably just tell me I've got too much going on. Just like how my friends say it."

"They don't sound very much like friends then do they." Greg scoffed "we're here for you though Y/N, like Hodges said, anything you need." Greg's phone buzzed and he was quickly excusing himself.

You looked back down at the results and slid them in front of Nick as you talked him through them as I'd nothing had happened, the man thanked you and gave you a warm smile before leaving.

"What do you have for me next?" You asked Hodges.

"You can help me prep these samples?"

You smiled and began to cross the room to him when your phone began to ring. Answering the call without looking, you were surprised to hear your University lecturer on the other end.. 

Locking your phone you slid it into your pocket and took a step back inside your lab space. "You'll never guess what" Hodges gestured for you to continue speaking "There was apparently an error in the system and everyone was given a failing grade. I passed. I’m a little annoyed it happened but-"

"I knew it had to be a mistake.” Hodges quickly added a smile beaming on his face.

"I don't know what my exact grade was but at least it wasn't a fail. She said that although my past grades weren't great the ones they really take into consideration is this one and the next two we get."

He smiled even more "good because I have no clue what I'd do in here without you now" 

"Thank you, I really love the opportunity I have to work with you, I've learnt so much-"

He held up his hand "As much as I love to hear it from other people I don't want to hear it from you." He joked "go and tell Nick and Greg."

You nodded "I'll be right back" 

"There's no rush, enjoy the news"

Bi-Han would only be with a partner, imo, if he truly loves them. Loyalty, trust, etc. are all important to him. To be with a person for the sake of being in a relationship imo is not his style. Especially if his father wanted an arranged marriage? He would not be happy with it. He can rule by himself, thank you very much. 

When Bi-Han loves you, he loves you. He may not say it much, but he does. It is not as if he thinks saying “i love you” is stupid. No, he understands it is important, he just knows that you know already. In rare moments where he is nearly overwhelmed with affection for you, he’ll say it first. But I think it is more likely he would only say a simple “i love you too” after you say it.

I can’t imagine Bi-Han to be the type of person to fall for someone at first sight or jump into dating someone quickly. I think the only way he’d fall for someone is to be friends with them first and slowly he’d fall, then the feelings would hit him all at once.

Bi-Han finds it hard to deny you. Even when he says no, he is probably thinking of other alternatives for you. Idk! I think this man would be kind of a simp deep down if he truly found someone he loves. But not like overboard, it’d be very subtle. Which is a lot for a frosty man like him.

Bi-Han’s love language imo, is acts of service. Probably small things like making you breakfast, helping you do your hair if you have longer hair, maybe even showing you how to properly stretch if you often feel sore. Little things that add up.

Bi-Han would allow you to be in his office just to enjoy your company. He probably wouldn’t talk much, mostly just listen in those moments when he’s concentrating. Your presence alone is enough for him when he’s working.

If he’s giving gifts, I imagine he’d probably be the type of person to place it in a place you’d see it, but no one else would. He’d leave a simple note like, “thought of you”. I don’t think he’d give it in person because he’s far too stiff to make it feel romantic enough,

I don’t think dates come often. but when they do Bi-Han would do something probably quiet and with just you. He’d rather spend the precious time he has not doing his duty with just the person he adores, no one else.

Probably not at first, but after you’ve been together for a while I think he’d allow you to brush and comb his hair. It’s not that he is particularly touch adverse with his hair, I just think he’s really fussy with it.

I think she would be able to find some humor in your jokes, even through her desperation to escape the circus. I think that there would be some occasions where she would tell you to cut it out with the jokes, mostly if shes trying to look around for any clues of an exit

Honestly I personally see ragatha not being able to tell good jokes, be it because they dont make sense or because the punchline just isnt that funny.... perhaps both. I think if you had a really distinct or intense laugh it would catch him off guard, but ultimately he grows used to it

Doesnt really understand how you can laugh at literally anything. Well, unless its jax getting karma for his antics.. then maybe they would laugh along with you. As funny as they think you are, I dont think they would be able to listen to jokes and funny stories every day for an extended period of time. Zooble had a short social battery imo and they do like their alone time. Nothing against you, this is just how they are!

romance is something Im reallllllllllyyy not good at so here's my best meet cute i can manage!

Remy bounces a little as he stands in line. He knows that he is a little too excited for this book release. But he had been reading Austin Jaques, a famous gothic writer, for years and had been ecstatic to hear that his latest novel would be set in New Orleans. He is excited to compare what the writer has to say about vampires to what he now knows to be true from living in the graveyard of a holy coven. And to see if his beloved city is represented correctly. He had convinced Creed to let him join the line while the man when off to get hot chocolate. Which is a little nice. He normally loves having Creed right there as back up, but sometimes it is a little nice to be separated and get some breathing room.

He can still feel Creed through the empathic link, the man currently feeling a mix of amusement and boredom. Must be taking a while for a reason. 

Remy tilts his head a little, adjusting his sunglasses as he looks about. The girl in front of him shifts a bit head turning to the side to watch a truck go down the road and then she rubs her arms. Oh. shes pretty. And it looks like she had come alone to the event. Remy shifts a little awkwardly on his feet and then decides to bite the bullet. He wants to talk to more people and talking to a pretty mademoiselle is worth his time. Now… what to say, something not too intrusive but easy to spring a conversation from.

“Excuse me miss?”

Her shoulders tense as she turns and he can see the stance of a fighter coming through. Not obvious to everyone, but obvious to anyone who had experience. He makes a small waving motion while smiling and tilting his head, trying to show how little of a threat he is to her.

“I love your earrings, mademoiselle.” 

“Oh, uh, thanks! I got them a week ago.”

She touches the crescent moon that is hanging low from her left ear. 

“They go well with your boots.”

“Thanks.”

She smiles a bit at the additional complement, fight stance fading slightly. 

“So, Austin Jaques, good writer, non? Got a favorite book in the series?”

Only people who enjoyed the man's writing would be willing to stand in line alone, so it should be a safe question.

“Oh, uh yeah. Midnight Heist. It was a really good plot. The twist was really well done. You?”

Remy nods. That book had a good twist that was perfectly set up so that rereads made it even stronger. 

“That ones definitely top ten. I really enjoy Moon Stones. Dealing with the horror of all your falures to create as an artist coming back as monstrocities was interesting.”

She nods. They chat back and forth and shift to be standing side by side in the line rather than infront and behind.

“Im Rogue by the way.”

“Remy! Nice to meet you.”

They move on from talking about the books to sharing favorite songs and texting recommendations back and forth to be listened to in full later. Remy barely registers that he got her number, so wrapped up in talking to her and trying to keep that smile that makes her whole face light up right going. 

Then Creed returns and Remy happily greets him. He sees Rogue tense and Creed sniffs the air. Remy grabs his arm and pats it.

“This is Creed, hes my papa.”

No one else could claim that title now. Creed straightens a little and Remy relizes that he might never have said that allowed before. Remy feels joy swirling across the link and grins.

“Creed, this is Rogue! My new friend.”

Creed looks her up and down and then nods. 

“Hi. Dont mess with my pack and I won't mess with yours.”

“Yeah? You gonna stick to that?”i

Remy frowns and shoots her a look.

“Hey, there be no need for this. We all peacefully in line. Creed, she been real nice to me so far. And Rogue, this is my family… We can all be okay? Oui?”

He feels a tinge of desperation, his heart starting to beat louder. Creed chuffs and nuzzles the side of his head. 

“Yeah yeah. Not gonna do nothin’ kitten.”

He passes Remy the hot chocolate and after a second, gives the other to Rogue, a peace offering that seems to work.

its why baizhu and yaoshi are so interesting to me, especially baizhu. most of the liyue story themes revolve around modernity vs. tradition and mortal life compared to the reclusive adepti, usually (im pretty sure its always?) siding with the former being better. so a character like baizhu, a mortal man desiring immortality is just so cool and i wished they gave enough of a shit to write him better (not that his writing is bad, especially compared to some other characters, but its very obvious the writers couldnt choose between a 'kind doctor' character or a more black jack-esque doctor who can cure anything but is pretty morally gray, especially the 'charging people a bizzare amount of money' thing)

one baizhu moment that i think about constantly is from his story quest where xiao tells him "immortality may not be the blessing that you imagine it to be." and i just wish hoyo could expand on that. like imagine wanting immortality more than anything and then basically being told by an ancient being "its not my buisness but please dont its awful."

(also yeah genshin's worldbuilding sucks so bad lmao, i've played through all of the main story and read alot about the lore and i still barely know What is even going on)

NO IT'S REALLY ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS!!!!! hyv writing is kind of questionable most of the time but i think they did well in their handling of immortality. it's really fascinating to me.

baizhu wants to attain immortality so bad, to save others, to save changsheng, and maybe to save himself (just throwing that last one on there for fun tbh i think he's way more worried about others; the other potential victims of changsheng's contract if he does not end it asap, changsheng herself, etc). i wonder what he must've felt when xiao outright told him "immortality may not be all that you think it is" LIKE???? this ancient being told you not to do it. but he'll continue doing it anyway. a man who is blinded by his ambition. hmm. and yeah i do agree! but i also hope this particular trait of baizhu's was done for a reason, not just bc the writers couldn't pick between tropes. baizhu was written impressively well compared to some others, so i HOPE it really is there for a reason.

but to add my own little commentary regarding yaoshi bc i never stfu about them: yaoshi is so fascinating to me for so many reasons.

do they know about the consequences of their blessings? if so, did they warn the alliance's ancestors, and did those people just not listen? or... did they not say anything? if so, why? OR do they just not know?

(either way i think the xianzhou's explanation of their history is bullshit. girl why did you all go LOOK FOR THEM and ASK FOR IMMORTALITY and then get mad when they did what you asked....... smh. This is why we can't have good things [<- is biased])

to add onto that last point, are they so all-consumed by abundance that they cannot see beyond their path and cannot even perceive the harm their actions cause? it would be such a fascinating idea, because this would also explain why lan is SOOOO obsessed with them (just say you want to kiss them bro it's ok 😒 /J); if the "aeons are all-consumed by their path" is true, then lan literally cannot do anything BUT hunt yaoshi down. the trailblaze can do nothing but trailblaze, which would explain why they disappeared. They Trailblazed Too Far. but if this were true, then what would this mean for aeons like long?

OR. is yaoshi simply an amoral eldritch being, whose motivations and thought processes cannot be comprehended by mortals? adding to this point, why the fuck does the xianzhou alliance "categorize" the aeons GIRL THEY ARE ELDRITCH DEITIES NONE OF THOSE MFS ARE "GOOD" OR "EVIL" ❗️❗️❗️❗️

same!! tedbecca is a beautiful dynamic that i have enjoyed a lot, so i liked the shippy takes and the platonic takes, but not the weird mind games about it in s3 sksksk. i am sad that they ended it like this, with ted back in kansas... rebecca was going All Out to make him stay and that was so so so beautiful to me. she would have moved mountains for him and henry :'(

yes, retrospectively, i cannot even say why we had shandy at all. i do understand that it helped to show keeley grow as the founder of her own company but they could have done it differently and still bring that point across? could have used the other employees, for example. was equally disappointed in jackkeeley being not much about anything either.

jamie and his dad. that was. something. i am very very very torn about this one because i interpreted that meeting as jamie allowing himself the chance to finally make peace with his past so he can move on instead of inviting his dad back into his life? i know many see that differently and were very disappointed in that choice, which is fair! to me, it felt like that was probably the first time jamie was meeting his dad as an equal, finally above his dad's shit and willing to stand up for himself after punching him etc, not feeling small or scared but instead feeling absolutely secure as a football player and person. i do refuse to interpret that as forgiveness bc 1000% fuck that. i headcanon that he met him, talked and said his own piece (a la thank you and fuck you) , and then was finally able to let go of his paranoia (always looking for his dad at games etc) and move on to a life that is not haunted by an angry ghost. gotta say tho... that thought is contrasted by my other thought: i hate that he just meets his abuser like that. them meeting in person? idk it could have been a text at most, like why give this abuser a chance like this? i was lowkey excited about jamies dad maybe being dead LOL but then i thoughr about ted and his dad, and rebecca and her dad, about the resentment festering, and just can't help but hope that at least jamie got the chance to say his brutally honest truth instead of letting it fester inside him forever (but again, i totally understand people who cannot bring themselves to find or accept any hopeful interpretation of that scene, i definitely cannot help but be full of mixed feelings myself!)

i feel like shandy was a missed opportunity that was overtaken by jack. and yes i dont like how they went with jack cause it just felt like they were setting up keeley for failure, relationship and job wise. i knew from the beginning it wasn't going to last and that's kinda shit to just have it there for a storyline. but hey at least we got confirmed bi keeley

im thinking the same as you about jamie and his dad. but i fear the writers thought a 'good' ending for jamie would be to forgive his dad and try to move on. and i would understand that if he was just an alcoholic bad dad. but an abuser who set his son up to be r*ped at 14 makes me feel real uneasy

finally finished perez's wonder woman run, have a lotta feelings on it. i love it, first and foremost. perez you could tell was a writer who deeply cared about diana as a character and respected her and her ideals and i love the groundwork he set up that was set to be the basis for the character for a long long time.

diana herself i think was overall really well done, you could feel how much she cares but she also gets to be genuinely powerful and smart when she needs to.

i really like julia and vanessa kapetalis in this run, i love that wonder woman gets a concrete family and essentially base of operations and i like how relatively grounded both the characters were. vanessa sometimes was just a caricature of Every Teen Girl through the lens of an adult man which was funny but by the latter half i was surprised by the shift her character shift being about her mental health and such. julia ofc is just a really grounded, level headed parent figure for diana and it works for diana as her intro to mans world. i know the kapetalis' will be dropped shortly and im not looking forward to that

steve and etta are... pretty boring. i dont have many opinions on them one way or the other im mostly ambivalent to their story and romance but i do at least like them

hermes was one of my favorite characters of the run and i loved his relationship with diana when it wasnt romantic. a major question of the book is essentially "Are dianas gods worthy of her and everything she does for them?" and of course diana and every amazon would answer yes, so imagine my surprise when hermes comes in and says no actually, theyre not, himself included. i like the mutual respect they garner for each other and i especially like how towards the end of it, diana speaks to hermes rather bluntly. instead of in a way of reverence, more in the way of an equal. she questions him and his plans irt the dr psycho arc and he listens to her and complies which while it doesnt sound like a lot, this was someone she worshipped. to see them develop from patron/worshipper to comrades in arms was one of the highlights of the whole run for me. and it helps hes the only olympian consistently willing to stick his neck out for diana.

the amazons and themyscira themselves i overall like buuuut overall wish more was done with them and we explored more of their complexities. i like seeing how diana essentially reflects them and their ideals, how you could see where she learned specific traits from. the question of are the gods worthy of diana is briefly expanded to include the amazons as a whole instead of just diana which makes sense but didnt go far enough. thats a common complaint with perez's themyscira. when heracles was brought back and hippolyte forgives him, i wont necessarily say that was a misstep, i think it works, and i know for a fact george knows of the complexities of this topic, he brings them up more than once through the voice of my favorite of the amazons from the run, Hellene, whos shown to be a naysayer to diana and essentially her philosophical antagonist. shes rarely ever mean about it but she often voices really good opposing points to dianas sentiments. irt heracles, she asks, are they all obligated to forgive their abusers? does this mean men have a free pass to abuse women but be absolved as soon as they apologize? and to me it shows that georges heart was in the right place but its equally frustrating as these questions mostly serve to lampshade the complexities of the topic and just acknowledge them rather than actually explore them. it becomes even more frustrating when hellene herself is killed off screen right before war of the gods. a really interesting character that imo shouldnt have died especially as she filled a really important role among the amazons. the rest of the named amazons are mostly fine i dont have many major issues or opinions on them.

the bana mighdall, however, are a whole different story. an idea of georges that couldve been so so interesting and been a step further into hellene's ideas that instead becomes a vehicle of racist caricature upon racist caricature. the idea of an amazon faction that became disillusioned with the gods and the amazon's secluded ways that they go to mans world to try and enact real change, no matter what, couldve been such a good foil to themyscira as a whole which couldve made both factions incredibly well rounded. instead we get a bunch of gray skinned misandrist barbarians whos main driving force is a lust for blood. i dont wanna rant too much on them or else ill get legitimately angry, all I'll say is the bana deserved better.

as for the series other villains, lets blaze through some first. ares is barely a villain imo, hes more of an origin story and works well as one. eris was a fun villain for that one arc where diana takes a bunch of global representatives to themyscira. decays a cool concept but not much more. dr psycho. cheetahs alright but bordering on very ableist tropes and in general the cheetah isnt often an interesting villain to me. valerie beaudry's silver swan is proooobably my favorite iteration of the villain, both in story and in costume, i think shes so pretty and i wish shed show up more

CIRCE! if you know me, you know circes one of my favorite dc characters ever so seeing her completely in power here was amazing. i love everything about this character. i love her haughty, devillish personality, i love her stupidly convoluted and endlessly cruel plans. i really love her simple green robe design from this run. i love her as a complete opposite of diana in almost every single way. i love her dialog i love her motivations i love every panel shes in i just simply love love love this character and cant wait to see more of her eventually.

overall im so glad i went and started reading this era of wonder woman. i miss george perez every single day im reminded of him and i love him and the work he left in this world. i cant wait to continue the volume and i especially cant wait to eventually reread cassies first appearances

Steel My Heart fanfic WIP

So basically this fanfic is gonna be my take on the story Ginny Di's OC Temper "wrote" under the same title, Steel My Heart. After watching Ginny's vid with Edith & Augury, I got motivated to really work on this again (after my initial kick to after this tweet exchange (yes that's my main twitter, which I barely use))

—so I've decided to share what I have so far. If you haven't heard Ginny's ad with Temper (I cannot for the life of me find the vid with the world anvil ad she was in T^T), basically she's a blacksmith that moonlights as a writer; her current story is about an "adventurer who falls in love with [his] sword, but they can’t be together because the sword is so sharp, their love is dangerous."

I don't know how long it's going to take me to finish this fic, or if I'll actually write beyond the beginning/meet cute between the MC & the sword (in which case I'll release my brainstorming notes that have a lot of fun details). Once it IS done, I'll be posting it in a new post here, and on AO3. Links will be shared on Ginny's patreon discord too.

CH 1 - Woe to Weal

“How much can I get with—” Anneal paused as he dumped his coin purse on the bar and counted, meekly continuing, “three silver?” He was down to his last coins. He didn’t enjoy relying on the sympathy of others, but he had no choice but to bank on it.

The barkeep gave him a pitying look before going back into the kitchen. Hopefully that was good. There hadn’t been much in the way to scavenger or hunt on his way into this village, so any food would be good. On cue, his stomach growled like an owlbear. Not that it could be heard over the boisterous group that stumbled in, making everyone turn and look. A hallow pang turned Anneal’s head back to his measly fortune.

A fortune that was swiftly swiped up by the barkeep. In its place, a plate of food and a stein of mead were set. And the key for a room.  He was about to thank the barkeep but one of the new, rowdy patrons all but slammed into the bar beside him. “Good friend, some drinks and food, if you please!” the halfling lilted. “And later some rooms so we may rest at ease.”

They eyed the gold she offered, then the group of hers who were all lost in their own conversation. “You’re adventures.”

“That we are, indeed. And we’re open for hire, should you so need,” she honeyed on.

“Yeah, actually.” They reached under the bar and pulled out a small flier. “Go see the mayor. She’ll give you the details. If you can manage to handle this tonight, you can imbibe and stay for free.”

“Well well, what a deal—”

“Sorry,” Anneal cut in, “but is this request open to all adventurers?”

They both looked at him. The barkeep raised their brow as they looked him over again. “You’re an adventurer?”

“I am.” Anneal cleared his throat, then straightened up and adjusted himself. “I admit, I’m… a bit down on my luck at the moment, but I can hold my own.”

A strong hand clamped on his shoulder. It seemed that the halfing’s group had been listening in and were all now circled behind me. The orc woman leaned in close. “Trying to be competition, little man?”

She could easily snap him in half—he had mixed feelings about that. “No, no!” he quickly defended. “I—I’m clearly no competition for the four of you.”

“Correct,” she said.

“I merely meant more of a… partnership? If you will—if the job is even something that would benefit from more fighters?” He glanced to the barkeep, hoping his desperation wasn’t noticeable to everyone.

It was.

The barkeep shrugged. “Hell if I know. Mayor knows more,” they deflected, then promptly removed themself from the situation developing between all of the adventurers.

Anneal slowly turned and faced the group he callously interjected himself into for this job they knew nothing about. Their expressions ranged between friendly, curious, reluctant, and unimpressed.

The orc spoke up again. “So, how do you fight? You look like fragile magic wielder.”

“Uhh…” He didn’t enjoy being called fragile, but compared to her, it was fitting. Especially with how scruffed up he was at the moment. “Well, I guess it’s sorta like magic.” He flicked his hand and in it appeared a spectral dagger. “Right now, these are all I got. But I know how to fight with other weapons, too. I’m best at being sneaky and such. You know—rogue shit.”

She nodded acceptingly. “Not bad. Maybe we work on more fighting skills for you.”

“Wait, so… you’re all fine working together?”

“We all fall on hard times at least once. It’s always good to help others when you can.” The elf with pastel hair held out her hand. “I’m Cerromet.”

“Anneal. Nice to meet—ahh!” When he went to shake her hand, a small creature jumped over Cerromet’s shoulder and tried to bite his hand. Luckily, he withdrew in time.

Acting fast, Cerromet turned her hand and grabbed the little psudo-dragon by the belly. She held the fang-bearing creature to her chest and pet it sweetly below its chin. “Sorry about Bloom. She’s just hungry.”

“She’s not the only one!” piped up the gnome. She hopped up on the stool beside him and leaned over for a better look at the plate the barkeep left him. “It’ll be nice to have some actual food instead of goodberries.”

“I’m sorry the ones I make are so sour,” Cerromet pouted with a little attitude. “That’s just how my magic is, Pen.”

The halfling leaned on the bar and stole his stein of mead. She took a swig then said, “I’m Burr, by the way; and Bi’Kern is our burly friend. She’s tough, for sure, but kind in the end.”

“I don’t mean this as a criticism, but just an honest question. Do you always speak in rhyme?” Anneal asked.

“It’s more fun to speak in song. Try it sometime and tell me I’m wrong.”

“Do you ever not speak in rhyme?”

“You’ll sooner see ancient dragons fill the sky, than you’ll hear a lilt fail from I.”

“Okay, okay… what’s a rhyme for orange?”

Bi’kern smacked the back of his head. “Stop being ass. Just drink already.” Burr made a point to start chugging the drink she stole from him while conspicuously returning to the table they had claimed.

Fun Notes: Most main characters are blatantly based off Ginny’s other OCs, and renamed after smithing terms (in case it doesn't come up later in the story, Pen is short for Pennyweld). Also, going to be adding various quests Ginny has made too (can you guess what this first one is gonna be?)

watched legends of tomorrow 7.01. BULLET BLONDES!!!!!! good season premiere, not the best in this show but not the worst either. i liked sara’s little ringmaster outfit. i guess it seems like the legends will be staying in the 1920s for a good portion of the season? that’s fine. i was worried that since the waverider was destroyed it meant we wouldnt have gideon but then HUMAN gideon showed up. and she was naked. i feel like she didn’t have to be naked but that’s fine. 

legends likes to change things up each season and this season i guess the big change is no waverider and no memory flashers or time couriers. but at least we have constantine’s pocket dimension to serve as our home base/liminal space. it’s not as bold a change as going to space but it’s still pretty bold. i think it will be interesting to see how this change affects the story. since they have no memory flashers it means the legends have to deal with the consequences of their actions, which will be fun and new. the emphasis on how the legends’ reckless actions were hurting gloria in this episode seemed to point to that. and of course ava’s iou notebook. it makes sense that ava is the most freaked out by this new change since she is the one who most relies on rules and structure. will be fun to see how she adjusts to it. and how gideon reacts. right now i guess the story is split up between the bullet blondes crew and spooner, astra, and gideon at gloria’s house, with zari chilling in the pocket dimension. i wouldn’t mind if that lasted for a few episodes. 

spooner and astra are sooooo cute together of course i am going to ship them. i know someone sent me an anon message saying not to ship them but that just makes me want to ship them more. i like their height difference. and when astra injured herself and how spooner was at her bedside mad that she drew more attention to her mom but really she was mad that astra hurt herself because she cares about her. i don’t quite have a sense of where spooner’s character arc is going now that her mom is safe but i like that she has this friendship with astra. as for astra i think it’s clear that her arc is about proving her own worth to herself and not feeling inferior to constantine. i’m really liking where the writers and actress have settled with astra and i hope she has some good episodes incoming. it rules how her spell brought gideon to life - i wonder if constantine would have been able to do that, or if it was all astra. 

i found nate far less annoying than usual this episode which is good i think. i thought it was funny when sara said his superpower is being a white man. and i like his friendship with ava. they are bros. funny as fuck when he accidentally killed j edgar hoover. i dont really know anything about that man aside from what wikipedia tells me but he sucked so he deserved it probably. 

interesting how zari decided to retreat to the pocket dimension for the time being. i am hoping we will get more exploration of her character this season since she was a bit neglected last season. i love her so much and she looked so cute in her circus outfit and she was so excited to give everyone a makeover. i liked how behrad was listening to her share her feelings about her breakup. hes a good supportive brother even if he is always pushing her to do drugs which i feel like is probably haram? but anyway i just really love zari you guys. would love to see her do some more self-reflection which i think was implied when she looked in the mirror. 

ummm i also just wanted to mention i liked when ava was freaking out and lay on the ground and then realized she could put her crime knowledge to use and made gary eat the dead body. and it was so funny how sara was like into ava taking charge. i also liked when they robbed the bank together and ava had the silly accent and kept shooting the ceiling but she made sure to steal ONLY as much as they needed to get to new york. oh i hope theres an nyc episode it would be so fun to see them where i am right now. i think the portrayal of the bullet blondes gang as criminals and vigilantes but the kind you root for is very interesting and very in the spirit of who the legends are as a team. it’s very different from them as like time cops. it’s fun and i’m interested to see where the show goes from here :)

i have not read any books besides dracula this year really! not any new ones

but i have read,

1.) The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, several times. as i do fjfkg

2.) Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. and okay ive also read this fine and well years ago but its a book that sometimes i genuinely just pick up, and open anywhere, and read a little bit of to enjoy again and go as far as i will!

3.) The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath. though not in entirety yet. i keep picking it up, reading a GOOD BIT... then forgetting for so long when i pick it up again, i have to go back and refresh my memory. but listen. im like... halfway there. im getting there.

4.) Thriving With Adult ADHD, Phil Boissiere, MFT. boy you would not BELIEVE what this ones for! fjdj no but really, it isnt a life changer for me exactly, but it is a nice book that makes a lot of sense of adhd without, like... forcing you into trying to act like youre NOT adhd. which is honestly amazing. im glad i have it if only for the way it makes me feel like i dont have to get RID of my adhd or hide it or ignore it or something to be able to live with it and coping methods arent anything to be ashamed of if youre not disrupting anybody! you can also bounce around this book and its still helpful, its very functional if you take it in order but still helpful if you hop sections!!!

5.) Maus, by Art Spiegelman. this one i DID read all of, and god;; listen, man. i know you probably see it coming that this is impactful, but i genuinely cant express with words how intense it is. its grounding, its humbling, its heartbreaking. its deeply personal in both a cultural way, and just... this guy talks about his relationship with his dad in between illustrating these interviews he has to hear about his experiences through the holocaust. i could tell you about it, but there isnt anything like the impact of seeing it for yourself. i highly recommend

Battered Guitars, a collection of poetry and prose by greek writer Kostas Karyotakis. and fkfj look, some of it is very much about life in greece and politics in greece at a certain time, so i know some of this isnt like Widely Appealing and Relatable, but some of the things he writes about really are. very melancholic! some good dry humor. a bunch that i wish i could read and understand in greek! alas ):

As a Spock and Uhura  fan, I am worried  about Strange New Worlds.

As a spock and uhura fan for more than 10 years, I can only hope for the best  in strange new worlds, although i have this bad feeling in my heart that strange new worlds will likely make Uhura gay and pair spock with chapel.I dont trust Alex Kurtzman since after Star Trek  Into Darkness, when he chose to downplay the spock and uhura relationship in that awful movie. He  instead dropped many spirk innuendos  that when you watched the movie, you wondered who spock was supposed to be in love with kirk or  uhura.

it made me angry as a spock and uhura fan,  no doubt alex kurtzman wrote star trek into darkness that way because he as he admits listens to fans and the spirk fans make the loudest noises between 2009 and 2013  and that factored in into the movie.   Thank goodness we got Star Trek Beyond that wiped out the trash that was Into Darkness and made Spock seem very much in love with Uhura again even if it was to the point of loving obsession However I fear he will continue this pattern in strange new worlds, especially now that we have a non binary actress playing uhura and they gave her an androgynous    look and it Kurtzman's  world, that he how he mostly writes and gives the appearances of lgbt characters, not to mention that in star trek now, they cast only lgbtq characters in lgbtq roles and Celia Rose Gooding  is lgbtq, so all the signs points to an lgbt Uhura in strange new worlds.

I also think some spock and uhura fans like lucyintheskywithdiamonds have become extremist kind of fans  and is now as  bad as some of the spirk fans, apparently if you love spock and uhura as I do, but express some concerns  and worry or even make heart breaking predictions about how the writers may try to downplay their relationship in SNW, luckyintheskywithdaimond thinks you are a hater, racist and a sexist and a fake spuura fans that needs to be ignored.

And that in itself is  sad since Spuhura is my OTP ship, anyone can go to my archive  to see it is fully dedicated to spuhura , how lucyintheskywithdaimonds calling me a fake fan and a racist  and sexist was down right offensive to me, when what I am doing is fighting for uhura's ferminity , the fact that she is a POC  and well worthy to be loved by a man like spock. so no, I don't want a gay Uhura,  but apparently to be a spuhura fan you must think like lucyintheskywithdaimonds wants you to think only or not express some concerns about how the writers may choose to write. Sorry I ain't   part of some borg collective.

Not to stay more on topic, I am worried  and scared of how SNW is going to turn out, so far soo good with Picard and Discovery, I have been disappointed with these shows because they flipped  things so much on established characters not in the best ways and I fear SNW will bring me more more disappointment  especially with Spock and Uhura, I just have the gut feeling they will be making Uhura gay like they did with 7 of 9 in Picard and we will get Spock and Chapel instead.

I pray this does not happen but a part of me is already preparing myself for this, but at the same time, this is why Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana will always be my Spock and Uhura, regardless of how the outcome of strange new worlds turns out.

-You was sitting in the crowd at one of his games it was a very important one winning this match would definitely get him recognized by some powerhouse teams

-every time he would score a point for his team he would look up at you and every time you would be there imitating his celebration “HEY HEY HEY THATS MY ACE” You felt only pride and absolute infatuation with this man

-you was cheering your heart out when you suddenly felt someone bump your shoulder (a little too hard to be an accident—)

-You swung your head around only to come face to face with an old friend from middle school they looked bitter asf and your conscience was telling you to just ignore them

-“Oh you have nothing to say to me now Huh? I see your at another one of these boring ass games I thought you didn’t have time for people?”

-It’s true at one point you did say that but you didn’t think you’d loose one of your closest friends because of it even so you continue to ignore them hoping they’d get the message and leave

-immediately you saw red but you couldn’t ruin this for bokuto important people were here. As if he could sense your distress he shot his eyes up to where you were in the stand

-Kenma isn’t a contentious person in fact he would much rather settle an issue in the most inconspicuous way possible

-Even so if he feels that him or his partner was disrespected in anyway he will not hesitate

-You and Kenma was at a gaming convention you had been planning since the beginning of February (it’s now late April)

-You had sat through the entrance ceremony and was walking around admiring all the stalls and you were both having so much fun

-Kenma had left you for a split second to get someone’s autograph it was the animator from a game he played religiously you didn’t mind you stayed put and was scrolling through your phone

-“Long time no see y/n” you lifted your head to the sound of your name being called and made perfect eye contact with an old ‘friend’

-If you were being completely honest you hated them all they did was make you feel like an inferior insect whenever you two were together you hummed a ‘yo’ before going back to your phone

-“Still a quiet freak eh LuLu I guess you here on your own or something”

-Lulu was the name of a magical girl from a cartoon you used to love but upon finding out people would use it to mock and degrade you

-you was gonna walk away the ridiculous nickname when you heard a familiar voice

-“no y/n is with me and you are?” It was a genuine question but anyone who didn’t know Kenma would take his pack of expression as bored or sarcastic

-You tugged on Kenma sleeve motioning to just leave as you felt uncomfortable but Kenma wasn’t having it you had been so excited to be here and with him and this nobody came out of nowhere and started harassing you

-What escaped his mouth next left you shocked, scared, a little embarrassed for him even but mostly touched

-he cleared his throat

-“lifeless. I’m not lifeless in fact I have a burning hatred for you right now. And that why I feel no guilt in what I’m about to do.”

-You gulped and held on tighter to kenma’s sleeve mentally preparing yourself for what he was about to do

- From all the commotion it’s sounded like your ‘friend’ was ok but some of the words leaving the mouths of the mob were kinda cruel

-You know he doesn’t like being the center of attention but he still protected you and for that you’d be sure to thank him for that

-they stood up and you let out a breath you didn’t know you was holding

-Before you could even assess the fact that they pretty much called your boyfriend ugly you was already pissed at the fact that they referred to kags as your friend

-you stood up abruptly and it’s like they were waiting for you to loose your cool all hope was lost when you heard him clear his throat

-“[there Instagram name] Damn you was easy to find. I liked you post”

-You felt a tinge of confusion race through you but watching all the blood in there body rush to your friends face made you curious

-“DELETE THAT RIGHT NOW” people were definitely looking in your direction

-“Leave then I will” Now you was curious what the help did he do?

-seconds, literal seconds. The annoyance was nowhere to be seen

it’s ancient greek! it means homecoming, the idea of a triumphant return home for the hero after a long journey. i found it through looking at the root of nostalgia. in this fic of course it’s kind of a grim tongue in cheek play on it. the reader’s coming back to the mountains, but she’s running away after a bad breakup, and the welcome she gets is... shall we say less than ideal haha

ty nonnie!! i didn’t have the right space for it, but after kohsuke was ripped apart and eaten kuroo stayed by the reader’s side until late in the night, only disappearing when he heard the reader’s parents/search party approaching. they found her lying in pools of blood (and scattered half eaten body parts), shaking and unresponsive – they knew no animal could’ve done something like that. so they knew something lurked in those woods, but considering the reader had repressed the memories, her mom couldn’t just come out and say it <33
