And look. Netflix has cancelled a lot of beloved and well-received shows over the years. This is far from their first shameless cancellation.
But this one really feels like a tragedy in a way the rest really haven’t, for me.
If you have not seen it, this show has some of the tightest writing I have ever seen. It explores so many ideas and character arcs in the span of eight episodes, and there is not a dull moment to speak of. Every line feels intentionally crafted for the character it is assigned to, and the actors never fail to follow through.
Speaking of the actors, almost the entire main cast are in their breakout roles but you would never know it because they are phenomenal. Need I remind you that everyone’s favorite homosexual from hell (sorry, Cas) is played by George Rextrew, and is his first onscreen role beyond acting school. It’s easy to forget that considering how seamlessly he melts into such a nuanced and uniquely expressive character.
Steve Yockey, the director/writer/producer who made this show happen deserves accolades for his brilliant creative direction and an adaptation that took an under-the-radar comic property and made it into the show stopping narrative of cycles of violence and abuse and learning how to grow from your past and be loved as you are. In EIGHT EPISODES.
The cinematography is also stunning and combined with the sharp editing decisions make it just as visually impactful as it is narratively.
I have not enjoyed a show as thoroughly as this once perhaps since season one of Daredevil like, a hundred years ago. I’ve watched other shows, I’ve liked other shows, but none without a healthy dose of criticism. I struggle to find something bad to say about this show because it is just that good.
Now I’m not going to go into the fact that this show was unapologetically queer and that Netflix has a history of cancelling any show that features a gay character that isn’t either comic relief or has two lines. However, it is hard not to notice that the less divisive a show is, the more market appeal that it has, and Netflix definitely cares more about a majority audience of passive users with autopay subscriptions than they do a dedicated fanbase excited to have something to call their own.
To quote Bo Burnham, “Art is dead.”

I legit wanna sit and scream over how good Echo was. I want to s c r e a m
Fun, good fight scenes, and a nice improvement over a lot of what the Big MCU has had so far imo
We got some blood and darkness again which has been soooorely missing
The gorgeous transitions between sound and silence, weaving you in and out of Maya's perspective
CREATION STORIES I LOVE CREATION STORIES
MATT WAS THERE FOR 30 SECONDS IT MADE ME SO HAPPY DEVIL VOICE GRR
The parallels and differences between Fisk and Maya were - not SUPER subtle since they bring you attention to it, but not ham handed either which I loved
Maya's arc is BRILLIANT - you know I love me some morally grey protags looking for redemption
The scene of her grandad selling to the Karen and Greg and they ask about a Najavo rug had me ROLLING because... yeah I've met those people 🥴
HEALING. HEALING. HEALING. THE SYMBOLISM OF THE BIRD AND FISK????
NETFLIX DAREDEVIL IS CANON, WHEN I SAW THAT HAMMER I WAS SHOOOOOOK
Fisk where is your WIFE
Did anyone catch the Fisk's Dad Fisk Beats The Bully Ice Cream Man and Baby Fisk Child Maya Kicks Him Too parallels???? No? Just me?
Maya making the rollerskate gun to shoot bolts was fucking hilarious
'Breakfast. Most important meal of the day.' I love her your honor
The way ALL her fucking ancestors showed up to help gave me legit chills, it was SO FUCKING COOL
I LOVE IT I WANT MORE
I guess this means I'll eventually have to do a TRT sequel set in this time period after the official end of TRT just post S3, or at least some one-shots if only so I can write Maya too, oh no, how surprising, who could have expected that. 🤷‍♀️

Wicked Fates | Lead the Willing
Summary: You didn't expect that night to change your life. But the fates had other plans. Matt Murdock aka The Devil of Hell's Kitchen shared his secret with you and now you had to guard it with your life.
Pairing: Daredevil x gn!reader
Tags: angst, TW! descriptions of panic attack, lazy day read, microscopic amount of fluff, daredevil trying to act mysterious backfires
You can read the previous chapters here.
Tumblr media
You were stranded in the middle of Times Square. You could hear jackhammers drilling away, accompanied by the loud clamour of taxis, businessmen, tourists, street performers, and who knows what else. Or at least that’s what it felt like when you began to wake from your sleep. Your many attempts to return to the unconscious realm were spoiled by the loud noises from the streets, so you decided to get up anyway.
Who the fuck wakes up so early on a weekend?
Groaning, you turned to your bedside table, looked at your phone, and realised that it was almost lunchtime.
Welp, I the fuck didn't.
You decided to remove yourself from bed and made your way to the medicine cabinet to take care of the mini construction project inside your head. Just as you opened the medicine box, you noticed a bruise on your wrist. The events of the night before started coming back to you, again.
The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen was here. And he was blind.
You inhaled sharply as you started replaying the events, beginning with that unfortunate night on the street. How did you end up here? How did your monotonous life suddenly turn into an action-packed Netflix show? What are you going to do now?
Too many questions began piling up in your head, worsening the headache you were trying to remedy. Shrugging those thoughts away, you popped an aspirin, cursing yourself for not having eaten anything beforehand, and gulped down a glass of water.
The bruise on your hand was beginning to hurt. You noticed that the bracelet now had a few broken rhinestones. You unclipped the bracelet and set it on the counter, hoping to fix it.
You don’t bruise easily, yet here you were, running your fingers over it delicately, hoping not to apply even the slightest bit of pressure. You recalled the words of The Masked Man just as he was leaving, “Apply some ice on it.” For a guy who wouldn’t have batted an eye before putting you into a coma, he did show some remorse for causing harm.
Maybe he isn’t that dangerous?
You did as he suggested and decided that thinking about everything that led to last night wasn’t going to help you in any way. You chose to distract yourself with chores instead—you had a busy week and hadn’t done laundry or cleaned the house. What’s a better distraction than listening to a podcast and cleaning?
You spent the rest of the day cleaning and organising your kitchen and bedroom. You wanted to reorganize everything but that would make you too tired, so you decided to stop yourself and decided to make pasta for linner. You loved pasta, you could eat it any time of the day and after the day you just had that's all you needed...especially last night.
NOPE! We are not going there.
By dusk, you were exhausted, you were craving for a warm bath with lavender oil. So that’s what you did.
After your warm bath, you felt slightly more at ease. The ache in your head had dulled, and the events of the previous night, which had kept playing in an annoying loop, seemed a little less daunting. You curled up on your couch with a can of Bonbon, scrolling through your laptop, trying to find something interesting to watch but not really focusing on the contents on the screen.
The city’s noise outside your window was still a constant hum, but now it felt more like a lullaby than an intrusion. You were finally coming back down from the highs of the previous night.
But that wasn’t going to last much longer.
As the evening turned darker, an uneasy feeling began creeping back into your mind. You couldn’t shake the sense that something was off, that someone was watching you. Every creak of the rusty fire escape, every gust of wind against the windows, made your heart race a little faster. You tried to brush it off, convincing yourself that you were just being paranoid after everything that happened.
You ditched your laptop and chose to doomscroll on your phone, into the night. You needed to distract yourself from this paranoia.
You were consumed by the videos of a soap-maker, only to be brought back into reality when the lights went off.
Great! a power cut was exactly what I needed right now!
You turned on your flashlight and went into the kitchen to try and find some candles. Having no luck, you went into your bedroom to fetch the fancy candles and finally put them to use.
You lit the candle and placed it on the coffee table when a gust of wind blew the flame out. Grumbling with annoyance, you leaned in to light the candle again when a surge of awareness flooded you.
The window was closed when I left.
You froze, the matchbox slipping from your fingers and clattering onto the floor. Your body started to tremble with fear, heart pounding loud enough for you to hear it, your eyes darted to all corners of the room in hopes of finding the man who had left you with more questions than answers.
You saw a shadow move towards you from your periphery. Staggering, you turned towards the figure. Your breath caught in your throat as panic began to set in. The memories of the last encounter flooded your mind—the fear, the uncertainty, the bruise on your wrist that still throbbed under the skin. You stumbled back from the figure dressed in all black, your vision blurring as your head spun. The room seemed to tilt around you, and the walls began closing in.
Before you could think, before you could react, your body betrayed you. The world around you faded to black as you felt yourself falling, the last sound you heard being the distant, muffled voice calling your name as everything went dark.
.....
When you finally regained consciousness, you weren’t sure how much time had passed. Your body felt heavy, as if it had been through a storm. Slowly, you became aware of your surroundings—the soft cushions beneath you, the warmth of a blanket tucked around your shoulders, and the faint scent of lavender still lingering in the air.
Disoriented, you opened your eyes to find yourself lying on your couch. The flickering candle on the coffee table cast long shadows across the room. The fear that had gripped you earlier was replaced by confusion.
How did I end up here?
As you sat up, the events leading to your fainting spell replayed in your mind. The shadow, the fear, the sudden darkness—it all rushed back, but now, instead of terror, you felt a strange sense of calm. Your gaze drifted to the window, now securely closed, then to the matchbox that had been placed neatly on the table next to the candle.
He had been here.
The realisation hits you gently, like a whisper in the night. The Devil had found you at your most vulnerable. But instead of exploiting your fear, he had taken care of you. He had tucked you into the couch, ensuring you were safe and comfortable before he left.
For someone known as the devil, he had shown an unexpected kindness. A part of you wondered if this was the same man who had been instilling fear in criminals, the same man who had left you bruised and bewildered. Nonetheless here you were, wrapped in a blanket, unharmed and oddly reassured.
You glanced around the room, half-expecting to see him lurking in the shadows, but there was no one. The apartment was silent, save for the distant thrum of the sirens in the city. A note of gratitude welled up within you, mingling with the lingering questions.
Why had he returned? What did he want from me?
But as you settled back against the couch, you decided to leave those questions for the morning. For now, you were safe and knackered. You pulled the blanket tighter around you, letting the warmth soothe the last remnants of fear.
Somehow, you knew he’d be back. And when he did, you would be ready. Ready with questions.
.....
The Devil of Hell's Kitchen was perched on your building's rooftop, carefully listening to you as you carried on with your day. You hummed a song as you typed away on your laptop. He had been waiting ever since the sun had set, waiting for the right moment to enter your apartment. His thoughts seemed to be pulled in your direction. You had seen his face, and he figured it wouldn't be too long before you mustered up the courage to talk to the police. You plagued his mind, and it was driving him insane. He needed to end this madness. The night was still young, and the Devil’s shift wouldn’t start for a few more hours, but he was growing bored just sitting there, listening to you watch reel after reel.
Is this how normal people spend their weekends?
As the minutes dragged on and his patience waned, the buzz of electricity went silent.
Power cut. Exactly what I needed.
He stealthily descended the fire escape, nudging the window and finding it unlocked. Shaking his head in disapproval, he noted how easily he could slip into your apartment—you really needed a lesson in safety. He positioned himself near the wall where he had pinned you down the previous night, grimacing at the memory of your pained whimpers. As you returned from the bedroom and lit the candle, he opened his mouth to speak, but the flame flickered out.
Fuck. The window!
He listened to your heartbeat quicken, your muscles tense, and sweat beginning to bead on your forehead. He took a few steps forward, intending to assure you that he was only here to talk. But you collapsed onto the floor before he had a chance.
Dammit, Matt!
He knelt beside you, his hands trembling slightly as he held your frame. Relief washed over him when he heard your heartbeat calm down. Gently, he lifted you into his arms, carrying you to the couch. As he tucked a blanket around you, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. He had caused this fear, this turmoil in your life. And yet, he couldn’t stay away.
With one last glance at your direction, he turned and slipped out of your apartment as silently as he had entered, vanishing into the night. But even as he left, he knew he would return. You were now a part of his world, whether he liked it or not. And that realisation—both thrilling and terrifying—was something he couldn't escape.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Ship Comics!MattFoggy (Part 1)
Hello My MattFoggy Friends.
Are you sad about Daredevil: Born Again more than likely not including Foggy? Do you agree that he is so crucial to Daredevil and also he and Matt are married?
Then let me introduce you to ... the Daredevil comic! Because if you thought Matt and Foggy were married in the show, wait until you read the comic.
Tumblr media
One thing I hear a lot is that there's almost 60 years of Daredevil comics, way too much complicated history and detail and you can't be expected to read all that. And to that I say... correct. And you're not expected to. I myself have not read all of volume 1 nor parts of volume 2, 5 or almost any of 6/7.
You just gotta pick what seems interesting. I like the Waid Run! I started there and have picked and chosen other runs. Nobody actually expects you know the complete history of the characters. It doesn't matter! Did Matt dad die before or after he met Foggy? Did they go to Columbia or Harvard? How old are they? How long did Matt and Elektra date?
The answer: who cares? Not even the comic writers can keep that straight. Just go with what you want to happen! Nobody is going to call you out. If you want dead characters alive, go for it! If you want to import characters from the MCU into your fic, please feel free! It's a 60 year soap opera. Do want you want. If you really want to know, just read a wiki summary.
If anyone gets weird or salty in your comments … that person is making some very weird choices. Do not engage. Good God, it's a fanfic. Do whatever you want. Just reply "lol, yikes" and move on. I am 35 years old and I am giving you grown-up with a job in an office adult permission to do that!
The major differences between the comic and the show are:
Matt is a redhead. Matt having red hair is pretty much the only difference that remains constant. Everything else is different and changeable writer-to-writer. Except early in Volume 5, when he was drawn to look like Charlie Cox and the miniseries between 5 and 6 where in some issues, everyone was copied from the Netflix show and it was weird.
Anyway:
Foggy's hair is usually short but he has 1990s anime girl bangs like Sailor Moon. If you like long-hair Foggy, sure, he can grow it out! He's sometimes blonde.
Tumblr media
In earlier runs, Matt is sometimes shown to have been blinded as a teenager, 14 to 16. In more recent runs, he was a child like he was in the show.
Jack Murdock died when Matt was either in college or in law school, either before or after he met Foggy. It changes depending on the writer. He's also been written as dying only a few years after Matt was blinded.
Matt doesn't just have enhanced senses... He has an entirely new, unique sense, radar sense, that functions separately from his other senses. I don't know how. So, if he loses his hearing, he can still understand the world around him.
Stick trained Matt and once, pushed him off a building but didn't abandon Matt until he was in college. Comics Matt doesn't quite have the abandonment issues Netflix Matt has. He has a whole lot of other ones.
Matt wasn't crushed by Midland Circle. But he DID basically die in the storyline Born Again and have to be nursed back to health by Maggie.
Matt's not actually very religious in the comic. He was raised Catholic and he gets more religious when he's especially distressed (and due to inspiration from the show) but for the most part, he is not a very devout Catholic. However, in volume 6 and volume 7, he is (but it's kind of a weird ninja cult way idk i'm trying not to editorialize in this)
Foggy's class. In the show, he is from a lower-middle class family that loves him and Matt. In the comics, Foggy's family is very wealthy and they are pretty disappointed in Foggy. His birth mother, Rosalind Sharpe, is a huge asshole and hates her son and Matt both, but has tried to use them in the past for her own gain.
They're both huge nerds. Foggy's supposedly "cool" in the show but he is not, I assure you, in the comics. Comics!Foggy almost certainly cannot recognize a Taylor Swift song. Comics!Matt likes experimental jazz. I want to give them both swirlies.
What if you want to write comics-verse with Butcher Shop Foggy and Religious Matt? Then do it! It's fine! It's a big multiverse!
I just want my MattFoggy friends to have content.
Now on the downside, as this comic's been going on for a while, Matt (and other characters) are kind of assholes to Foggy about his weight. I ignore that bit. As with all comics, you have to ignore some shitty stuff sometimes because it all varies writer-to-writer.
Anyway, you came here for some MattFoggy Married Evidence, right?
Okay, here we go, presented with the help of my friend @froggynelson and all my chums on Discord and the Avacados in Love server...
In no particular order, a small selection of Matt and Foggy being in love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One time, Matt got possessed by a demon and Foggy free-climbed a castle to rescue him. He is the only person able to get through to Matt to help save him. Shadowlands is otherwise, unfortunately, bad.
Tumblr media
Something else from Volume 1 is that Matt was supposed to be the better lawyer of the two of them. Of course, since then, everyone's agreed Foggy is the better lawyer. But really, they're better together than either of them are apart. (This is the bit that made me think "oh they're GAY gay")
Tumblr media
In volume 3 and 4, Foggy had cancer. Matt gave up his (already compromised) secret identity and moved to California in order to help him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was extremely sad!!
Tumblr media
They had to fake Foggy's death!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He got better :)
Tumblr media
Now Tumblr's post editor is chugging at this point, so please join me in part 2 - The Quest for More MattFoggy.

yo, do you think Netflix could make a better Moon knight show than Disney plus?
And other than Oscar Isaac, who would you cast as Moony?
I mean daredevil Netflix is better than most mcu movie so a Netflix moon knight show might be better than the Disney one
Alright, thank you for your time :D have a nice day!
Hello!
Oh that's a tough question.
I absolutely adored the Netflix Daredevil. Specifically season 1. The hallway fight scene is my happy place. Netflix is known for blowing it out of the water When They Want To. Not to mention the casting was the single best casting job I've ever seen. And Frank Castle? They couldn't have done better.
Since Disney has not actually taken the reigns of Dare Devil yet, it's hard to say how they will choose to carry on the story or what different choices they will make.
But the real difference in the two? How much they are willing to invest. Because it really was all about the script, the direction, and the cast.
You see, Marvel (And Disney) tend to have very strong opinions about what happens in their movies. And these choices have affected many of the movies in very negative ways. Often leaving the directors, writers, and actors very frustrated.
They also tend to heavy hand things and put a lot of pressure on directors. Not to mention that Marvel has an ultimate goal to reach and when you start interconnecting things, it's going to get MESSY.
My biggest joy in Moon Knight was how it was a stand alone and not involved in a larger messy plot with an end goal of tying him into a larger franchise to make movies and more money.
It's a big worry. The more big characters you have involved, the less time you are going to have to establish and develop each individual character and their relationships. And since Moon Knight has his own inter-system relationships to deal with first, there is a HEAVY chance things are going to get overlooked or underutilized or cast aside in favor of a quick fix or sloppy story telling (Looking at you End Game).
I think that the Moon Knight we got in season 1 was absolutely amazing and that was in large because of the freedom that was given to the cast and crew and director of the show. The absolute freedom and research and care they put into it. I'm not sure they would have had that financial ability if Netflix had done it. Not to mention they would have put limits on the set design and location. Disney has that lovely ability to just go "You want the Wadi desert? Let's go."
And OSCAR. This man MADE Moon Knight. His own research, input, and creative suggestions. He was the one that gave Steven the accent. He cast his brother as his body double. He even chose to do the single shot mirror dialogue with Marc and Steven. That's a flex that a lot of actors can't do. There have been MANY that have tried to play multiple characters and complained about how hard it was the whole time. Oscar took it as a fun walk in the park. I honestly can't imagine anyone else doing a better job or even as good a job as he did. If they had used anyone else, it couldn't have been a well known name. It would have had to be a new person. (All though I did just try to imagine Ryan Gosling as Marc for the briefest of moments and it gave me some serious Smallwood vibes. That Smallwood scrunkle on that face? Yes.)
And trust me, when I heard they were making a Moon Knight show with Disney, I was skeptical as hell going in. I'm super protective of my boys. I feared the worst. I have never been happier to have been wrong. I hope I continue to be wrong with season 2. I WANT it to be just as amazing. I want it to blow me out of the water and destroy me like season 1 did. So I'm just sitting here holding my breath and trying not to think about all the ways they could seriously mess it up. (there are so many).
Uh... Did that answer your question?

10 Characters • 10 Fandoms • 10 Tags
Thank you so much for the tag @fettuccin-e!! This one was a lot of fun to do and a welcome distraction before an appointment I am nervous to go to soon. I attempted to not make these all Charlie Cox characters (you already know I love Henry and Owen even though I had to include my main loves) and I included a couple of my gaming loves!
This is long (and quickly became a thirst post 😅) so gifs and answers below the cut!
Matt Murdock - Daredevil (Y'all saw this coming. He's my comfort character and the fictional man I'm forever in love with who happens to control my brain.)
Tumblr media
Frank Castle - Punisher (I have tumblr to thank for having me fall for Frank. But LOOK AT HIM. I just want to see that man smile.)
Tumblr media
Joel Miller - The Last of Us (yes, hello, surprise. I love him, too. Haven't played the games though but I'm tempted.)
Michael Kinsella - Kin (I'd marry him in a heartbeat. I don't care if he's killed people; let me just take care of you and drag you away from your family, Mikey)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Geralt of Rivia - Witcher games, books, & Netflix series (fell in love with him in the games and books and then even more seeing Henry Cavill's amazing portrayl of him despite my qualms with the Netflix show)
Tumblr media
Daryl Dixon - The Walking Dead (been in love with him for years now and I can't stop wanting him 😫)
Tumblr media
Sam Coe - Starfield (my current love: the DILF space cowboy who I love and will marry every iteration of in every universe in every playthrough. I cannot resist his voice and his jokes.)
Tumblr media
Sam Winchester - Supernatural (my first hyperfixation and who I got into writing fanfic for years ago. Love you Dean but I will always love Sam more sorry not sorry.)
Tumblr media
Jax Teller - Sons of Anarchy (badass biker with a good heart and that face and body and tattoos. Need I say more?)
Tumblr media
Eivor - Assassin's Creed Valhalla (my favorite of the games personally and I just love him and had to include him, okay?)
Tumblr media
No pressure tags: @loveroftoomanyfandoms @theradioactivespidergwen @mattmurdocksscars @souliebird @mattmurdocks6thscaleapartment @yarrystyleeza @1988-fiend @mattmurdocksstarlight @sunflowersandsapphires @pastafossa @shouldbestudying41 @shiorimakibawrites @theetherealbloom @mattkinsella @hollandorks & anyone else who wants to join because these are fun to see (so I tagged a ton of y'all)

PROPAGANDA
ELEKTRA NATCHIOS (MARVEL COMICS)
1.) Elektra was created by the misogynist himself, Frank Miller, who would write female characters like garbage including her. Throughout her entire existence within a majority of Daredevil comics, Elektra has been treated as a character made to be a trophy for Matt Murdock. Daredevil writers love making her life revolve around Matt in a way that its framed as romantic when the reality of their relationship should be framed as a tragedy due to their conflicting ideals (and in my honest opinion, I think she should start hating him).
Frank Miller’s Man Without Fear completely butchers Elektra’s character by changing her character to this “crazy woman with voices in her head who loves to kill anyone and anything” completely shitting on the original backstory of her being a sheltered rich girl who was very kind and sweet until her father’s death that shattered her hopes and dreams, leading her to become vengeful and turn into an assassin who believes that all she’s good at is killing and that she can’t ever live a happy normal life.
[…]
And of course thanks to the mcu, that influenced current Daredevil writer Chip Zdarsky, who ruins her character EVEN MORE by trying to follow up on the MWF backstory AND make it align with the mcu version as well to this spy that was sent by the Hand to purposely seduce Matt just like how mcu Stick did in the show. Zdarsky writes Elektra in a way that ruins her character completely and makes her infantalize/belittle Matt by calling him naive and foolish despite in previous incarnations where she UNDERSTANDS why Matt wouldn’t follow in her footsteps and wouldn’t kill and WOULD NEVER TRY TO CONVINCE HIM OTHERWISE (and Zdarsky made her fetishize Matt’s blindness in a way in which she would never do if she was in character). Zdarsky made her stop her ways JUST FOR MATT and then writes Matt to constantly disrespect her and call her a murderer despite in previous iterations where he WOULDN’T DO THAT AND ALSO UNDERSTANDS WHY SHE’S LIKE THIS WITHOUT CHANGING HER. (Zdarsky wrote everyone OOC in his run but the most who suffered from it is def Matt and Elektra). Then Zdarsky made Elektra become Daredevil which yeah, the suit is cool, but the implications of it sucks as Daredevil is not an identity that anyone can pick up on like Spider-Man. Daredevil is explicitly an identity that Matt took up bc of the injustice his father received after his murder along with the desire to protect the victims of the justice system. Elektra is a foil to Matt so her uprising as Elektra wouldn’t align with becoming Daredevil. How he framed it was essentially on par of a woman taking up the husband’s last name but so much worse. Elektra as Daredevil doesn’t work because it completely erases her identity as Elektra and further pushes the idea that she only exists to serve as Matt’s trophy, as his pain, as his wife, as his tragedy, etc etc.
Not a single male Daredevil writer should ever LOOK at Elektra ever again until they know how to write her because she has been done so dirty and receives misogyny on EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF HER EXISTENCE. There’s only been a few times where Elektra’s been done well and a lot of them had Matt be involved very little in it and it really makes you think.
2.) Both show and fandom perperativing the sexist and racist troupe of a dragon lady: overt sexual and physical aggression, untrustworthiness, and mysteriousness. The fandom is notorious for saying Elektra is toxic, instead of recognizes she’s an abuse victim working for her abuser. More often that not, all nuance is thrown out the window
(Comics and show) Killed for Matt’s(Daredevil’s) pain/fridged
3.) Constantly mischaracterized and used as a prop for Matt Murdock/Daredevil, especially in the case of his netflix series and his ongoing comics written by Chip Zdarksy (where she is so intensely out of character she’s almost unrecognizable, and in the case of the current Daredevil run parts of her origin story have even been heavily retconned to more closely resemble her Netflix counterpart which is. Oh my fucking god its infuriating.) But it’s an issue really like half the time she shows up in any given daredevil comic (im being generous)
ABBIE MILLS (SLEEPY HOLLOW) (CW: Racism)
1.) Abbie starts out as one of the two protagonists of the show, only to get almost entirely sidelined as early as season 2, getting less and less screen time and allowed no relationships, either platonic or romantic, while the other lead Ichabod Crane has a seemingly infinite amount of them. It got bad enough that her actor wanted to leave the show, which they did by having her sacrifice her soul in the season 3 finale for the male lead to live, and then they ended the show after season 4 anyway, because guess what, it’s a bad idea to entirely sideline and eventually kill off one of your leads!
2.) She was killed by the narrative to advance her white male co-protagonist’s plotline and I’m still mad about it, Abbie deserved so much better. This is an example of racism in the narrative too and it extended to the production of the show, see news coverage:
3.) Look, I only watched the first season but they killed her off the show SHE was a co lead of!! Misogyny AND racism, all rolled into one. I remember seeing the fan reactions and I was so mad on their behalfs. They wrote her off her own show and from what I recall, gave her less and less screentime leading up to that. Truly, she deserved so much better and I will always be upset by this.

Funny how you're hating on Charlie for "not fighting for Elden and Deborah" and patting Jon on the back for fighting for Deborah as if he didn't sign as early as March 2023 when the overhaul was far from happening 💀 Was he fighting for Deborah while receiving that fat Marvel check? 🤣
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/daredevil-born-again-casts-jon-bernthal-punisher-1235342229/amp/
Now who is stalker bitch.
I've been Charlie's fan since I watched Stardust in 2011 so i think it's much longer than you are, saw him in his other shows like Broadwalk Empire czy Treasure. Never said anything wrong about his skills or his appearance, always admiring him because I know he is amazing man irl.
If you love throw links then check this one
https://www.cbr.com/jon-bernthal-reportedly-turned-down-daredevil-born-again/
His return to Punisher role and Deb and Elden not returning to Karen and Foggy was announced on the same day.
You probably miss a very important thing that before DDBA Charlie and Vincent already debuted in the MCU in Spiderman, She Hulk, Hawkeye and Echo. Jon was before his debut and was supposed to be a small part of the series, because a separate production was planned for it. I doubt they discussed with him what the entire series would look like, other than just his arc. Also he wasn't in a position to set conditions because it wasn't his series. Original writers didn't just plan to kill Karen, they wanted to erased her from the universe and that would close the way for Deb's comeback to The Punisher show. Sure she could play different character, she would be amazing Rachel Alvez-Cole, but Jon and Deb want to be Frank and Karen, not Frank and Rachel.
Jon was vocal about how he disliked the script before the overhaul, he mentioned it at at least two conventions.
As a fan I have right to be pissed for the way things were trying to do, like they wanted to do the show without a slice of respect for fans, neither of netflix show or comics. I might sounds bitter about it, but that's my opinion, I stand by that and I'm not going to pretend everything was sweet and milky.
But since we are talking, have some decency to talk to me straight to my face, do not hide behind the anonymous mode. Like if you want to say something, I would gladly listen to it, but do it as you so you could have a responsibility for your words and actions. Because right now you are hiding behind anonymity like a fucking coward you are.

So, they made us believe fans of the Netflix Daredevil show were successful in saving it and then went on to pull down their pants and take a huge crap on everything we loved about it?
I have to admit, I snorted when I read your message, anon! 😂
Possible spoilers/leaks under the cut
While I might have chosen a less, um, flowery wording than you, as for now, it looks like you are right.
It appears that Foggy dies, Karen is sidelined for a huge part of the series, Claire isn’t there and neither is Elektra.
People apparently overestimated the “creative overhaul”. The old script mainly stands, Feige just found it had too little action and too few scenes of Matt in his suit. I suppose that’s why Foggy now gets an onscreen death in the pilot so they have a reason to let Matt put on the suit and fight Bullseye.
Karen seems to survive but hasn’t much screentime which has me suspect they don’t care much about her character either, but want to avoid being accused of fridging her.
This is what script leaks and set pictures suggest and support. But it has to be said that you can change an entire story with the final cut of a show or movie. So I guess there is a slim chance it won’t be quite as bad.
But even in the unlikely case Foggy isn’t killed off, there won’t be much of him or Karen as the original footage is mostly kept and they just aren’t in it.

I have only a few wishes in this daredevil rewrite
one, they bring back Karen and Foggy because why were they axed in the first place
two, they add more diverse characters because as much I love the Netflix series, just about every single character of color either disappeared, was an antagonist, or died violently.
three, jen has to come in for a cameo fuck it or the whole show I loved she hulk
four, they keep that three piece suit matt was in during the daredevil born again shoot cause he looked so fucking good
five, lets these actors TALK. I love the fight scenes, they are fantastic but some of the best scenes in daredevil are the ones where characters are just sitting, talking, or arguing. I understand that maybe too much legal drama can be boring but I don't want to sit through six episodes of hallway fights to music
six, that they ignore the idiots who call everything that isn't a white man yelling at cardboard woke. we don't need to appease them in any way shape or form.
seven, they either fix the elektra problem or don't bring her in at all because elektra always ends up being uneven and Elodie Yung was really good

Thoughts on the Ahmed run (spoilers)
I know we're only three issues in, but I thought I'd ramble about the current state of the union
Tumblr media
My main complaint is the memory loss story--it's a little disappointing. I was hoping that arc would go further and have a lasting impact on Matt; but he remembers everything so fast. Within the first issue he was back in the suit, and it feels like he moved on so easily from the trauma of everything.
Idk, I think it makes his sacrifice from Zdarsky's run feel a bit meaningless.
However, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, and wait for a while to see how it goes.
Tumblr media
I'm loving Matt as a priest at the group home. It feels a little bit like a nod to the Netflix show, with Sister Maggie and the orphanage. Maybe I'm just reading into that, idk. I realize a lot of people hate when the comics start taking things from the show--but I don't mind in this case. Plus, seeing Matt interact with kids is always a win for me
And the religious overtones/dark imagery? The moral complexity of his head vs. his heart? The duality of what he does in the day vs. the night? Love it. give me more.
I do miss lawyer Matt, though. It's been a hot minute since we've seen that, and I'm really hoping Ahmed will take Matt back to his roots at some point.
Tumblr media
I'm torn on the artwork. There are some BEAUTIFUL panels (this one is one of my favorites) and the coloring is so vivid and dynamic. And Matt is hella attractive in this run so far, so that's a big plus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but also, there's something a little too... like... shiny? About everything? Things look polished almost, in a way that's a little weird. Sometimes the faces don't feel very defined.
I also think there's less weight in the artwork. The movement is a lot less dynamic and fluid than the last run. Everything feels a little like it's floating, the punches don't carry much weight, and it just makes everything feel... lower stakes, I guess.
I don't know, I'm a big Checchetto fan, and his artwork felt really solid and grounded. So maybe I'm just still adjusting--I'll give Kuder some time before I really make a judgement call.
Because again, there's still some really beautiful and dynamic things here. He's doing neat things with panel placement/shape, which breaks up the page nicely and has cool effects on the pacing
Tumblr media
I've also got mixed feelings about the tonal change thus far. Maybe this is a hot take, but I'm not into quippy Daredevil. I think he functions best as a character when he's really serious. He's usually got a gravitas that really informs the way he conducts himself. The quips in the latest issue take away from that, at least in my opinion.
Then again, Mark Waid made it work really well. Ahmed could very well be trying to do something similar. Again, it's something I'll reserve judgement on. I'm not against a lighthearted Matt, per se. I just think the darkness makes the storytelling so much more compelling and grounded (which is the reason I think people are also tired of the quippy humor in the MCU lately).
I hope the goofiness isn't going to be a long-term thing, but I feel okay about it for the time being. Especially since it's only every so often (at least so far). The run overall still feels fairly gritty and grounded.
Tumblr media
I'm intrigued to see where he's going to take Elektra as the Woman Without Fear. I was pleasantly surprised by that arc in the Zdarsky run (wasn't much of an Elektra fan until recently, tbh) and I'm curious to see what's next for her. We haven't seen as much of her as I'd like so far, but hopefully that will change.
Tumblr media
All that being said, I'm actually really enjoying this run so far. I'm not enjoying it quite as much as Zdarsky, but I still think it's really excellent. Ahmed's doing some interesting things with the character, and I'm really excited to see where he takes it.
Anyway, I'm curious to know if anyone else has thoughts on the run thus far. Opinions? Thoughts? Vehement disagreements?
Tumblr media
(bonus picture because I'm obsessed with the priest vigilante look)

pasta who do you see as matt's endgame in the mcu? do you think he'd ever settle down?
Ooooh this is an interesting one.
Ok, so I have a feeling that in Netflix!Era DD, endgame was likely Karen, or that's the vibe I got based on S3, although Elektra was still a possibility. But the MCU entrance has obviously thrown that into the air and added a TON of possibilities, including some we haven't seen yet, and a few established comic characters that are showing up in Born Again like Heather Glenn and Kirsten McDuffie, so we have a TON of options here.
Required: these are all just guesses. I get ships are personal so if you ship one of the ones I'm guessing won't happen, just know I get it and I could be wrong (my favorite ship in the Netflix shows were Matt/Claire and my not-gonna-happen-but-fun-to-imagine Ship was Matt/Jessica, neither of which will happen in the MCU era, so I'm not going based on my own favorites).
Karen Page: I'm going to be honest, and this is just a guess: my intuition says their endgame won't be Karen. I don't have much to go on other than rumors that Karen may not be a permanent stick-around character, and those set photos of the Matt kiss scene with Heather, which means that even though Karen was around, Matt or Karen (or both) have seemingly moved on (Karen with Frank maybe?). So I don't think that's going to be the Matt romance endgame.
Jen Walters: I don't think it's going to be Jen, either. I get the feeling, as cute as I think they were, that that was meant to be a permanent thing and Disney's been pretty clear they won't be making another She-Hulk even if she makes some cameos elsewhere, which rules her out as a romance.
Heather Glenn: They've said he's going to be involved with Heather Glenn in Born Again this upcoming season, a new character to the show/this particular variation of Daredevil. She is an established character in the comics so it's not like this doesn't have backing, but I just don't feel like it'll have the impact Disney would want when looking at endgame. Supposedly now with the rewrites, they've leaned much more heavily into making it dark like the Netflix shows and following that general mythos, and that to me means they're likely to bring back:
Elektra Nachios: now this is our big wildcard since she's not confirmed, but she's where I'm leaning towards putting my money. She's insanely popular in the comics, she's well established, her relationship with Matt is a classic and a staple of Matt's various arcs, and Mattlektra might be an easy win for Dis after some lower ratings on their stuff. I've also read a few rumors that Elodie was spotted on the Born Again set, though whether that's for a cameo or not is unclear. Still, that makes it sound like she's going to be back. If I had to guess, it will be a, 'I would have been with you if you were here', and once she is back, that's where Matt's liable to head towards even if he's with someone else. Especially if our older Born Again Matt is just a little more jaded, a little more tired and lonely when it comes to love and what seems like his failures to keep Fisk behind bars - someone like Elektra who he feels understands him so well would be very hard for him to resist. And if his relationship with Heather Glenn is anything less than super solid in the coming season, Elektra's going to be able to get in there, and it would admittedly be interesting to see an older Elektra that's grown just like Matt has.
Matt stays solo: god I don't want this to be endgame because i want this man to have someone to love on him after a hard day, but this is entirely possible and in some ways, it would be a way for them to kinda easily dodge the ship question. I could absolutely see Matt trying to pull a tragic, 'my life is too dangerous for love' but I don't think this is where they'll go. They like the romance thing more, but maybe that's wishful thinking.
Other options: various comic characters are going to show up, and again, Kirsten's a possibility although I haven't seen any noise on her being a romance in Born Again, although if they have excellent chemistry that might be something they lean into down the line. As it stands though, I'm going to put my money on the writers bringing back Elektra for a Mattlektra tragic, fated love endgame.

I'm the kind of person that likes the first version of whatever they see more than the next one. Doesn't have to be the first version that came out, just the the first one I've seen. So when whatever next version isn't exactly the same as the one I first saw I get unreasonably annoyed and angry. Why? I have no idea.
But that's why I hate when the live-action version of comic book characters don't look the same. Most of the time. However, with daredevil, who is my favorite male hero in marvel, I first saw the Netflix TV show and I LOVED IT. So even if I know he is a ginger in the comics (and I, just like Dick grayson, have a thing for redheads) HATE to see him redheaded. Also Charlie Cox did such a good job.
So yeah, I have no idea why I am like this. It makes it hard to enjoy somethings hahaha
I feel like it has something to do with me being neurodivergent, but I feel like that's more autism than adhd. But I have no idea. Maybe I'm just annoying, who knows, right?

Netflix Daredevil star Charlie Cox reveals the real reason why he isn't on social media
Exclusive: 'I have a big feeling like if it is not broken, don’t fix it'
By Sandra Mallon   3 OCT 2022  (X)
Tumblr media
Kin star Charlie Cox reveals he isn’t on social media – because the superstar wouldn’t know what to say to his fans.
The Daredevil star – who returns to our screens as Michael Kinsella in the new season later this year - says that having an online presence for his millions of fans “is not really my bag”, admitting he’s a very private person.
Charlie told us: “I don't know what I would say to people I don’t know. I genuinely don’t. I’m not against it and obviously a lot of people tell me I should because it’s part of the industry, part of the world now. It’s not really my bag. I’m very private. Also, I have a big feeling like if it is not broken, don’t fix it and my life… I don’t get bothered.”
The UK star feels grateful to be working on Kin, saying “it feels like luck” that he came across the script as his TV wife producer Samantha Thomas was already working on the Rte One series.
“So much of it just feels like luck. I don’t know how… you know when you get sent a script, you’re getting sent one tiny clog in this huge mechanism and the other clogs haven’t even been developed yet.
“With filmmaking I always found that one element can completely sabotage it. I saw a cut of a movie I was in, it looked really promising and the sound design ruined it and it ended up not working so I’m very aware that we make decisions with a very limited amount of information so it was a huge amount of luck involved.
“So when something comes along that does work and there is a fanbase behind it and there is a thirst and a hunger for more of it, I think you just got to be really grateful for that. I’ve always stayed quite close to the theatre, I think that helps,” he added.
Charlie previously told us how he used to “dread” going on the Kin set because it would drain his emotions as an actor.
He told us in August: “When I read it (the script) I was so devastated by the loss of Jamie. I can tell you just from filming episodes two and three of last season. There was a period of time where I was like 'wow, I really kind of am dreading going to work'.
“I mean I loved the creative process, I was loving the storytelling and I believed in it so much. But sitting in those feelings… when you do a funeral scene and you’re doing a funeral all day, you’re sitting in that grief all day.
“You know there was a scene at the wake where Jamie is in the coffin and we filmed that scene all day and we are grieving all day, albeit it acting but you still have to draw it from somewhere.
“It lingers… It's a very uncomfortable emotion to be living in and so my feeling with this show and in particular what happens in the beginning is that if anything it shines a light on how devastating to a family and to a community that life can be.”
Charlie revealed how fortunate he feels that he no longer takes on roles for the money – but rather to fill his own creative needs as an actor.
“The last few years of my life I have been fortunate enough to be in a position where there has been work. Not all the time. There was a few years ago there was a period where I was waiting for the right thing and nothing would come along. It gets quite nerve-wracking after eight or nine months.
“I’ve never been someone who jumps into work just to work. I always wanted to curate a career as much as possible. It’s very difficult to do when you start because you have to take every job you get really.
“The last few years have been slightly different. And so, I’m not taking any jobs for the money. It’s all for creative reasons.
“Then there are other things you factor in, like keeping the family together is a big one now,” he added.

PRELIMINARY ROUND - MARVEL COMICS - ELEKTRA NATCHIOS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frank Miller's Man Without Fear completely butchers Elektra's character by changing her character to this "crazy woman with voices in her head who loves to kill anyone and anything" completely shitting on the original backstory of her being a sheltered rich girl who was very kind and sweet until her father's death that shattered her hopes and dreams, leading her to become vengeful and turn into an assassin who believes that all she's good at is killing and that she can't ever live a happy normal life.
[...]
Zdarsky writes Elektra in a way that ruins her character completely and makes her infantalize/belittle Matt by calling him naive and foolish despite in previous incarnations where she UNDERSTANDS why Matt wouldn't follow in her footsteps and wouldn't kill and WOULD NEVER TRY TO CONVINCE HIM OTHERWISE (and Zdarsky made her fetishize Matt's blindness in a way in which she would never do if she was in character). Zdarsky made her stop her ways JUST FOR MATT and then writes Matt to constantly disrespect her and call her a murderer despite in previous iterations where he WOULDN'T DO THAT AND ALSO UNDERSTANDS WHY SHE'S LIKE THIS WITHOUT CHANGING HER. Elektra is a foil to Matt so her uprising as Elektra wouldn't align with becoming Daredevil. How he framed it was essentially on par of a woman taking up the husband's last name but so much worse. Elektra as Daredevil doesn't work because it completely erases her identity as Elektra and further pushes the idea that she only exists to serve as Matt's trophy, as his pain, as his wife, as his tragedy, etc etc.
Not a single male Daredevil writer should ever LOOK at Elektra ever again until they know how to write her because she has been done so dirty and receives misogyny on EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF HER EXISTENCE. There's only been a few times where Elektra's been done well and a lot of them had Matt be involved very little in it and it really makes you think.
2.) Both show and fandom perperativing the sexist and racist troupe of a dragon lady: overt sexual and physical aggression, untrustworthiness, and mysteriousness. The fandom is notorious for saying Elektra is toxic, instead of recognizes she's an abuse victim working for her abuser. More often that not, all nuance is thrown out the window
(Comics and show) Killed for Matt's(Daredevil's) pain/fridged
3.) Constantly mischaracterized and used as a prop for Matt Murdock/Daredevil, especially in the case of his netflix series and his ongoing comics written by Chip Zdarksy (where she is so intensely out of character she's almost unrecognizable, and in the case of the current Daredevil run parts of her origin story have even been heavily retconned to more closely resemble her Netflix counterpart which is. Oh my fucking god its infuriating.) But it's an issue really like half the time she shows up in any given daredevil comic (im being generous)
Elektra Natchios (NMCU)
1.) This continues over to her mcu version in the netflix show where the writers decide to be extremely racist and make her the dragon lady stereotype while also following the Man Without Fear version to which many dd comics fan fucking hate. The show paints her as someone who was born evil with this Black Sky bullshit and makes her a puppet for the Hand and then kills her off just to be white man angst for Matt (comics have done this too but the netflix show takes this idea to such a degree that its horrible). Thanks to the netflix show, many fans believe that Elektra is this murderous bloodthirsty woman who is abusive to Matt and a manipulator so now Elektra faces misogyny and racism from fandom.
(Show) brought back to life in the spin off series only to be killed again
3.) Constantly mischaracterized and used as a prop for Matt Murdock/Daredevil, especially in the case of his netflix series
