we only eat each individual meal once. a meal made the same way with the same ingredients won't be the same meal. but each meal is sustenance that keeps people alive and well. even if you didn't like it, even if you forgot it the same day you ate it, that meal had value that was worth the time put into cooking it.

i think fiction is like that. even if we dont think about it much, our hearts and minds need our little stories as sustenance to keep us well.

obviously i'd rather the stories i write be more like people's favourite meal from their favourite restaurant, but it's also wonderful to cook my friends a meal they're gonna forget within a week. and either way i get the joy of sharing something i made.

Yes both Beel and Levi have the same amount of cards now, at six each. It’s also now similar with Satan and Mammon, who have four cards each.

It’s hard not to look at all the good stuff Levi got for his Torture card that you mentioned and compare it to Satan’s pitiful offerings. So what was different? The character and its monetary status. It’s one of or a mixture of those two things that caused the disparity. Either PB doesn’t care about Satan as a character and/or they��ll only put effort into paid cards.

The worst part for me is how long we waited for another Satan card, how long we waited for Satan lore crumbs, etc. And getting really excited since we were finally getting something. Only to be completely let down.

I didn’t even need all the extra stuff Levi got in his card. If Satan’s story was well done with some interesting lore bits, then I would have been very happy.

It’s hard to keep getting your hopes up that things will improve, only for them to be repeatedly dashed, and not have that significantly lower your enjoyment of the game. Which is sad because I want to love it.

Was looking for something I once said on another hellsite, unrelated to this lmao, and came across someone saying how Briala and Celene's relationship is toxic (sure, I can see that) and how Celene has so much control over Briala and that's the issue of their relationship when.... no. No.

That ain't it.

Celene and Briala, for all their issues and there are many, in the way Weekes writes their relationship is far more balanced than people give it credit for.

To the point that when it isn't balanced, it jars.

To get this out of the way; yes, Celene has more power than Briala. That is a fact we can't deny and even if you reunite them, while the power disparity does lessen, it doesn't go away. Celene is, by virtue of her position, always going to be more (politically) powerful than pretty almost everyone else in universe.

However, the way Weekes turns this on its head is by having Briala have more agency.

It is Briala that comes back to Celene out of her own volition every single time. She comes back to Celene after Celene sends her away when they were young. She comes and goes to Celene's bedroom at her own pleasure. She spies for Celene because she wants to - and enjoys it. Briala is the one that rekindles their reconciliations in the novel; after Halamshiral Celene doesn't even try to talk to Briala about what happened, respecting Briala's imposed distance, and only when Briala opens the door does Celene enter the conversation. It's even Briala who comes back to Court - after having rejected The Game and Orlais - with the intent of, at least, returning to Celene's side during the war: they- Well, Briala really, was already planning to work with Celene.

It is always, always Briala.

This isn't because Celene loves Briala less - it isn't, because we can see she's much more emotionally compromised than Briala due to her reliance on Briala to function like a normal human being. It is merely because Briala has the space to act towards Celene as she wishes, more or less.

The one time in the novel Celene does try to use her power to control Briala - having her arrested, so she could spend a few lavish years in prison... which yes, it is fucked, but even that panic-driven decision-making is shown to be a testament to Celene's emotional vulnerability, not necessarily her desire to dominate - it goes horribly wrong.

It - they - don't work when the relationship is THAT unbalanced and they have been working together for 15 years. That moment showed how their relationship falters when it becomes too unbalanced.

Celene and Briala aren't unconscious of the power difference. They work around it.

Especially, Celene.

She constantly says she does understand if Briala wants to leave her, she reassures Briala over and over that leaving her won't have repercussions to Briala's most dear cause. Celene's brain is always so aware of it that she always tries to give Briala the space she needs if she wants to leave. I will take joy in my love finding her people, even as my breast aches with every heartbeat I live without you. Those aren't just words, that is how the relationship works. Which is why Celene's most consistent and ardent belief - when she's being a rational human being and not the Empress of Orlais terrified for the fate of her country - is that Briala needs to be free to act as however she wills.

It's why those are the last words they say to each other.

It's why them getting back together - or the possibility of it - was almost a forgone conclusion.

Ultimately, Briala’s autonomy within the relationship is one of it's defining characteristics. She may not have the political power of an Empress, but she holds the agency to act - which is why always needed to get those Eluvians; she's the only one who CAN use them, but that's another conversation. While Celene, for all her power, respects Briala’s independence and choices, and is often hamstrung by her lack of freedom in choosing what she can do - something she pointed out in the novel as well, even though its often misinterpreted.

TLDR: This relationship is not defined by Celene’s control over Briala, but rather one shaped by Briala’s autonomy, Celene's understanding, and their shared emotional connection.

first of all tysm for this ask (+ your incredibly kind follow-up), it was a delight to receive + i’ve been wanting an excuse to talk about a lot of this for a while so i very much appreciate the interest!

as always please keep in mind that i am Just Some Fem, nothing is universal including when it comes to D/s & i can only speak to what works for me. i try to focus on starting points rather than specifics but ultimately my advice will always be limited by what i needed to hear & wasn’t told, which may not be what’s helpful for a different person. with that being said, here’s some suggestions!

i’ve posted a previous reading list (link 2) with relevant recs; particularly the practicality + sex writing sections have the kind of thing you’re looking for. specifically, The New Topping Book (2003) is a solid starting point; i definitely have my issues with it (haven’t read it recently enough to recall many specifics but i have the sense of general pervasive racism & ableism) but it did a good job at making me think & i appreciate the supportive tone they were going for

another book added to my tbr since then is Coming to Power (link 3), released by SAMOIS in 1983

other authors whose sex writing has been influential in my life: Sandra Cisneros, Natalie Diaz, Joan Nestle, Judy Grahn

the fic At The End of His Rope by Letterblade (link 4) is genuinely some of my favorite sex writing of all time & accomplishes the incredibly impressive feat of representing a broad array of dom styles & changes over time in the same piece

my “impurity culture” tag (link 5) houses the building blocks of my sexual ethic

i’ve found many of those foundations by poking around the incredible bodies of work original & archived @newsmutproject @woman-loving @gatheringbones

for me, studying sex is the same as studying poetry – reading for craft is a different process than for pleasure (not that there isn’t a great deal of pleasure to be found in such practice, especially for sadists – perhaps that’s why as a child i never resonated with Billy Collins’ “Introduction to Poetry,” like i love tying poems to chairs & beating them idk what to tell you). so, keeping in mind that these are suggestions not requirements, here’s how i read for + work on craft:

there is no such thing as too much journaling. this can take whatever form you prefer – voice memo, discord message to yourself, the noble notes app, your own personal sexy red string corkboard, a vast & stunning array of other approaches i can’t even begin to imagine. i personally have an elaborate web of spreadsheets & google docs lmao. what matters is developing a collection of ideas you want to play with + a practice of continually reflecting on past experiences.

pay attention to structure, not just content. find a scene you think is disjointed and pick at the seams, brainstorm better transitions. then find a scene that flows so smoothly it carries you with it and figure out what makes it work.

rewrite a scene you’re drawn to or affected by to suit your own preferences. i first did this when i couldn’t shake “Interlude 3” (link 6) from my head after reading The New Topping Book; you can read my variation on the theme here (link 7) if you’re interested.

write or think through a scene fantasy you have from negotiation to aftercare. obviously it’s very difficult if not impossible to fully script a scene in advance; the purpose isn’t planning something you’ll later do but rather getting used to coming up with ideas to get from one disparate moment / act to the next.

revisit a scene you’ve read, written, thought about, etc and list the physical & mental acts that are required / expected of the sub (eg, kneeling for 10 minutes; making eye contact; counting to 30, etc). then rework the scene for a sub who has the same interests & goals who cannot do 20% (or 50%, or any) of these acts.

revisit a previous scene and list the places where you think a sub might safeword & why. then rework it with the sub safewording somewhere that isn’t any of these places.

i also recommend keeping in mind that like… for me, reading about ethical sex can often be a very distressing process for the same reason that it’s liberating: because it proves that things i’ve experienced are not the way sex has to be. i’ll tell this story in its fullness one day but the first time i read S/HE by Minnie Bruce Pratt i literally had a flashback to events i’d repressed for years, it was devastating, i’m so grateful for it. hell, in the process of compiling resources for this post i cried twice editing this quote (link 8) because between reading that book the first time & now someone did “respond with scorn or ridicule” when i safeworded. so i would really encourage folks to approach this kind of work with as much grace & comfort for yourself as you can muster or borrow – if it’s really fucking hard, you’re not alone in that, & it’s okay to take your time + pace yourself + seek support.

Yeah the Western fandom is AWFUL with this particular thing. They make their own conclusions and expect everyone else to get in lockstep immediately or else be attacked relentlessly (Western CR fans are like this with everything tbh, not just the age question). The Asian side of the fandom has always been the chill one; they just make art and vibe and it's wonderful. No drama about shipping or age headcanons or whatever. Just art and vibe.

I've never seen anyone on our side say Blue Slushy is a kid, though? Haven't seen anyone say much about her, period, granted. Kingdom really overshadowed Ovenbreak in terms of popularity, unfortunately, so OB characters are robbed of the love they deserve :( but yeah, I never once got the impression that Blue Slushy is a child. She seems like an adult to me, always has. Being a bit childish doesn't automatically mean "literal child". (And her interactions with Wind Archer are adorable. They're adorable together. Sue me)

Bjugstad (#27) skates directly in front of Sanford to get the puck. Sanford pushes him in the back, causing him to fall into the boards. Sturm pulls Sanford off Bjugstad and initiates a fight. He gets punched in the head at least twice and does not get a single good hit on Sanford before finally losing his footing. Bjugstad is appreciative of his efforts, at least.

Commentary: i thought that Sanford would get a penalty for boarding or hit from behind here but he doesn’t. if anyone knows if there’s a legit reason for that hmu ty but the consensus from youtube comment sections seems to be that it was a bad non-call so like. lol. lmao even

Sharks were down 1-2 after getting dunked on twice in the first 30 seconds of the game but Nico scored 10 seconds into his shift, and then got into the fight like 15 seconds later

Vlasic (#44) skates around the boards to get the puck with Ritchie incoming. He chips the puck to behind the net and tries to pivot back just as Ritchie makes a hit on him against the boards. Sturm cross-checks him a few times to get him to fight. Neither of them get a particularly good hit in but Sturm does manage to look really bad in particular with one giant swing that puts him off balance followed by a swing by Ritchie that knocks him off his feet. Please refer to his primer slides if you would like to see how goofy this looked. Drew describes this event as Sturm "protecting" Vlasic which made me laugh out loud. Unlike Bjugstad, Vlasic appears unmoved by his efforts.

The Sharks manage to keep it a close game and tie it early in the third but the Flames score three in the last five minutes of the game for a final score of 7-3 rip lol

Afterwards he said, quote, "It’s not my forte, right? Maybe I can give the guys some juice and I thought it actually worked pretty well" (The Mercury News). Did they actually do better? No idea, I didn't watch that game but Professor Hockey had no kind words to say about it. However, I admit that I personally would dial up the effort if I watched Nico Sturm try to rally the troops in his own soggy kitten/plastic bag in the wind/tube inflatable man way <3

Commentary: did not look like a dirty hit, Pickles turned way too late for Ritchie to really do anything about it. At least it didn't seem like anyone got hurt on the play, as Pickles popped up and started scrampling after the puck immediately anyways. Dellandrea (#53) passes the puck up out of the Sharks d zone to Grundström (#91), who turns to receive it with his head down and skates into Pachal coming in to hit him. The two collide, knocking both of them off their feet, and the play is blown dead as Grundström is clearly injured. Sturm and Dellandrea grab Pachal immediately; Dellandrea shortly peels off as Sturm and Pachal grab onto each other with their gloves off. Sturm ineffectively hits him a few times in the abdomen before Pachal finally wrestles him to the ice and they are separated.

Commentary: lowkey that seemed like a clean hit, not that sturm could tell considering he was facing the play with his butt. crundy is still out :(

Sorry one last thing. It is actually driving me insane how dense people are being about especially whether or not Shoko cares about Gojo.

First and foremost, being a jujutsu sorcerer IS a curse. It means that you are constantly conditioned to perpetuate violence and be desensitized to death and loss as a means to accept how truly suddenly you can lose anyone. It’s a motivation to be strong and not get left behind. This also means going down this path actively fractures relationships and pulls people apart from emotional bonds as to not get too attached (tho obviously, with every close romantic platonic and familial relationship we see it daily, because love perseveres as much as curses do).

Between Shoko’s already sheltered nature due to the utility of her abilities needing to be protected, naturally becoming conditioned to death and loss of her peers intimately as a doctor, and the disparity in strength between her, Gojo, and Geto, emotionally she feels ignored and casted to the side, but most importantly like she couldn’t ever reach them. This is the same vice versa with Gojo and Geto. Because of the immense amount of trauma as well as the nature of what it means to get stronger none of them could communicate nor reach the other.

Despite this literal and figurative gap, her actions and thoughts prove that she cares immensely about Gojo and Geto, and she goes out of her way to reach them in other ways. Something she does know is that Satoru is strong, and I don’t think until the fight actually happened she ever thought there was even a chance he could lose (we see her look genuinely distressed and get distracted as the fight goes on). This is a plan that was absolute last resort that no one wanted or thought would happen. She doesn’t have time to grieve, she doesn’t have time to object anymore. Satoru is gone and everyone is putting their life on the line to defeat the very prevalent threat in front of them. This is also an end Gojo accepted and I don’t think her objection would have changed his mind (however he obviously longs for that validation but can’t receive it bc he’s had to push everyone away since Geto’s defection).

It’s a horrible, despair inducing end for Gojo. It is heartbreaking to see his body reanimated for violence and bloodshed by a student who he tried to preserve the youth and innocence of. But to blame Shoko, who literally does not have another choice and is too occupied with saving other sorcerers and helping defeat Sukuna by healing people to pretend Geto was the only person who cared about Gojo is lunacy. She’s just as emotionally stunted and everyone processes emotions differently.

About LO backgrounds isn't blending well and looking very 3D, while you're correct I honestly think LO is more tame case if you look to Webtoons like Midnight Poppy Land and Let's play for example; at least RS oversaturate the backgrounds with colors so it won't be very noticeable and doesn't make it hard (at least for me) to read the comic, I can't same the same for the aforementioned two! (sorry if my English was weird)

oh yeah no, LO's backgrounds aren't even half as bad as Let's Play and MPL, both of those comics have their anime characters literally just floating on top of Google SketchUp and Acon3D backgrounds and it's so brutal. LO's backgrounds are definitely more "bad when you squint", though the tradeoff is that unlike in MPL and LP, the character art is WAY worse and so half the time you don't even look past the noodle limbs and brick shithouse bodies and bug-eyed faces to notice just how dull and empty the backgrounds are. Frankly I think the models they use would be fine, if they put more effort into actually coloring them instead of just washing them out with a single color that doesn't tell you anything about the setting (especially when those single colors make the foreground characters look even worse with the color disparity.)

Case in point, we sometimes use 3D models for buildings and furniture in Rekindled and I don't think people even notice half the time lmao LO's 3D backgrounds aren't blending well because they feel like they shouldn't even be there when they're just using void backgrounds anyways, vs. LP and MPL which are overusing 3D backgrounds with no effort put into blending them to make them look natural.

You jumped up hearing your boyfriend's amused voice, and immediately turned the music off on your phone.

Apparently, you were too immersed in the cute little performance you've made for yourself, that you failed to notice him walking in on you.

_ "Hitoshi! You're home!" you were too stunned to do anything other than running around the room in a disparate attempt to find something to cover yourself up with, since the corset hugging your upper body had caught his attention immediately.

He stood there in place, arms crossed and gleaming eyes following your every move, while an amused smirk adorned his features.

He did not expect coming home to such a cute surprise, and your reaction was the cherry on top.

_ "Stop staring at me! This is embarrassing!" you felt self conscious under his piercing stare, and what made things even more insufferable was his lack of response, so you started again in hopes of filling the awkward silence surrounding you, "I was just having fun on my own, no one was supposed to see this, least of all you.." you whispered that last part as if hoping he wouldn't catsh it, but to your surprise, that was what brought him to his senses.

_ "What? Why not? Were you honestly not gonna show me?" he was only a few inches away from you at that point, eyes fixated on the curves of your body, and arms reaching out to pull you closer.

Your only response was a shaky breath when your boyfriend decided to latch onto your collarbone, licking and nibbling like a hungry dog, "I'm hurt y/n, to think that you wanted to keep this from me, tsk.." he inched towards the bed with you still in his arms, pushing you down gently onto the soft bedsheets before hovering over you, "wanna make it up to me beautiful?" and the flare in his eyes intensified as he whispered suggestively.

Bakugo :

_ "Babe I'm home." he called out from the entrance, kicking his shoes and dragging his feet as he proceeded to look for you around the house.

He figured you would be at home already, but the quiet empty atmosphere suggested otherwise.

However, it didn't take long for the music to reach his ears from behind the closed bedroom door.

_ "Hi babe I've been looking for.."

He stopped dead in his tracks, eyes widening and mouth dropping open as soon as you came into view.

_ "Oh! I'm.. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to.. I'll be outside." his face immediately turned red as he stammered his words.

You couldn't understand his reaction though, he has seen you wearing a lot less before, so what was it then?

Was it because the garment squeezing your torso defined your breasts perfectly? Perhaps, but you needed to have a clear answer.

_ "Wait ! Tamaki don't go," you grabbed his arm as he turned around to leave, and stepped in front of him, but his gaze refused to meet yours.

In fact, he kept his eyes peeled on the ceiling and that was enough to answer your question.

You took another step closer, pressing your boobs to his heaving chest, and watched amusingly as he swallowed thickly, "Tamaki, look at me sweetheart, tell me what you think of this."

_ "I was just a bit bored and wanted to have some fun, care to join me?" your fingers played with the fabric of his shirt, and your eyes watched as he struggled to keep his own away.

He looked incredibly adorable, all blushing and tense, but you wanted to feel his touch.

_ "You're really stubborn." you pouted cutely, taking his hands in yours before placing them on your corset-clad breasts, and biting down on your lip when he unconsciously squeezed on the perky globes.

And that was when he finally lowered his gaze to meet your own, shy expression still present upon his features, but also was a dark mysterious glint that rarely ever appeared in his eyes.

You couldn't control the shivers running through your whole body, because that look only meant one thing: he was going to make you pay for teasing him.

Shouto :

He was not supposed to see you wearing it, especially if he was going to observe you with that blank expression of his, but there he was..

_ "Shouto, say something already." you were only trying to chase away the boredom as you slipped into your corset and started your private performance, unaware of the piercing stare coming from behind you until it was too late.

_ "What was that?" he finally spoke, closing the door behind him as he walked in, and tilting his head to the side as pure confusion laced his uttered words.

_ "Nothing really, this is nothing." you shifted your weight from one foot to the other, still oblivious of what was going through his mind.

_ "Can you do it again?"

Oh?

You failed to respond for a moment, racking your brain to no avail until he approached you slowly, placing both hands on either side of your torso and stroking the thick fabric of your corset like a curious little puppy who's facing the world's biggest mystery.

And all of a sudden, his fingers stopped moving and his eyes popped out, "can you even breathe properly in this?! Okay I changed my mind, just take it off it seems painful."

Seeing the look of concern in his mismatched irises, as he struggled to figure out a way to free you from your confinement, was truly endearing.

_ "I love you Shouto." you giggled softly, cradling his cheeks and gazing into his blinking confused eyes.

_ "I love you too, but I'm serious you should really take it off because.."

You had to silence him with a kiss, you truly couldn't help yourself.

He is simply the sweetest.

Izuku :

_ "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to walk in on you!" his sudden outburst startled you, almost bringing a shriek out of your throat if you didn't turn around to face him at once.

His hands flew to cover his bright red face as he stood there awkwardly.

Your reaction was no better than his though, as you sank through the floor and squeezed your eyes shut.

You could have easily heard a pin drop as embarrassment consumed you both and a stifling silence filled up the air. It was only a few moments, but felt like eternity.

Izuku lowered his hands cautiously, not because he wanted to take a better look at your outfit, but rather to check in on you since you hadn't said a word the whole time.

_ "Y/n, are you okay? Do you want me to leave?" he sounded as nervous as you felt, and you knew for a fact that your voice would crack should you attempt to respond, therefore you settled for a feeble shake of your head as you slowly opened your eyes.

_ "Alright then, can I come closer?" he was still being cautious, but your eager nod comforted him.

He was finally able to get a clearer look at you, and again, the blood rushed to his cheeks as you were utterly captivating.

_ "I was just a little bored so.." you had finally found your voice, small as it was, but your eyes remained trained on your clenched fists.

_ "Oh! Yeah I see.. well," he stopped for a second to take a deep breath and place a warm hand on your trembling ones before carrying on, "you look beautiful."

And that was the moment you finally dared looking in his face, with a bright smile and twinkling eyes that warmed up his heart.

_ "You are the most beautiful y/n."

Shigaraki :

_ "What.. the hell.." he froze in the middle of your room, eyes squinting and head tilted in pure curiosity as he attempted to understand what was happening.

_ "Come closer, I'll.. I'll show you." you were torn between your desire to explain what you've been up to, and the overwhelming bashfulness that took over your being. He was never meant to see you like that after all.

_ "Alright." he moved closer to where you stood, a serious look on his face as if you were about to share a big secret with him.

You hesitantly restarted the song on your phone and proceeded to perform in front of him, giving it your all as you wished to impress him.

_ "So, what do you think?" you turned off the music and whispered your query, eyes fixed on the floor and feet shuffling nervously in anticipation.

_ "So this is what you've been doing here for hours?!" the laughter rumbling across the room confused you, and the eyes studying your outfit seemed mocking all of a sudden.

Your shyness was quickly replaced with pure irritation, how could this be all he had to say? And after you graciously allowed him to watch!

_ "Just forget it and leave! I need to get changed." you turned away from him, crossing your arms and waiting for the door to click shut behind him, but the sound never reached you and instead, you felt his arms sneak around your waist and pull you closer against him.

_ "I'm sorry y/n, please don't be mad."

You refused to face him, and remained quiet until his lips trailed soft kisses along your nape.

_ "Stop it jerk." you protested feebly as you stifled a threatening giggle.

_ "You look so sexy in this I'm not gonna lie," a few more kisses on your shoulder, "I'm sorry for being insensitive."

He sounded sincere, so maybe you should forgive him?

_ "Fine." you placed your hands on top of his, craning your neck so you could kiss him properly on the lips.

like yeah ruby had no arc. she had huge fears of abandonment - but turns out her biomum loved her and named her and immidately reconnects when she finds out. wouldnt it be stronger to have her biomum not want her, or to suck, or to be dead or something? and ruby could learn that shes worthy all on her own?

also why is ruby finding her biomum not connected to 15s struggles with his own "adoption"?

and the show is like ohhh you were stupid for ever thinking theres something supernatural about rubys mum she's not important/special!! like we all only thought she was special bc the show told us that!

the season as a whole theres a huge lack of the doctor like. looking at clues and figuring them out (so we can understand him as a character). like he does it in ep1-3 and 7 lots but theres so much of the series where he does nothing! we dont see him figure out he needs the outside metal, we're just suddenly in a scene about him getting it. we dont see him and ruby figure out a plan to defeat sutekh, they did that offscreen!

also making sutekh destroy all life and then they bring it back easily is unsatisfying yknow? have them work to stop him killing everyone! have them do things (like in sutekhs original episode pyramids of mars).... instead of giving the doc and ruby stupid plot armour.

and sutekh being wrapped around the tardis since the 4th doctor is such a strange and baffling retcon lmao

I know this ask is pretty old and at the time I agreed with you but I couldn't really think of much more to say. Looking through my inbox and seeing it today though made me reflect on the writing again and you touch on some problems that I've been feeling with the show even more since watching the new Christmas special.

Nothing is set up properly, our heroes aren't shown figuring anything out, and the pacing is all over the place.

When the show was first revived it followed a classic, serial, monster of the week style formula. The Doctor and companion(s) arrive in a place which contains some sort of threat. The setting is explored by our protagonists and hints at the threat are dropped slowly, increasingly building tension until the identity of the threat is revealed and the rest of the episode is dedicated to running from the monster and figuring out how to beat it. I can't speak for Moffat and Chibnall's time as showrunners, but this is how the average episode goes from series 1 to series 4.

This format is well-paced, it has set up and pay off, and it's compelling because the viewer is always along for the ride. We figure out the episode's mysteries at roughly the same pace as our heroes because the writers gives us roughly the same information that they give the protagonists.

The new episodes pretty consistently fail at these fundamental principles. There is often a great disparity in knowledge between the protagonists and the audience.

Why are all these accidents happening around Ruby? It's Goblins that feed of accidents, which the Doctor already figured out off screen.

Why is all the music gone now? Oh wait we already saw at the beginning of the episode, its Maestro. Guess we have to wait for the Doctor and Ruby to figure it out. How are they gonna beat them? Oh like they have to play a special chord, a fact they figure out randomly and then the Beatles do it for them I guess.

Oh man how's the Doctor gonna get off this landmine? Ah an AI ghost fixes it for him cool.

Who is this mysterious woman following Ruby and why is everyone who interacts with her changing like this? Lol lmao the writers couldn't think of any answers so I guess we'll never know.

Wow, how are the Doctor and Ruby gonna beat Sutekh? They figure it out off-screen. RTD seemingly wanted to prove he could be just as much of a hack as Moffat with this one.

How is the Doctor going to save Joy and deal with this ominous briefcase? We get a whole montage about his life while he does this, and he still fucking figures it out off-screen goddamn you Steven Moffat.

These episodes feel too fast paced and unsatisfying to watch because they're all pay off, no set up. We barely get a chance to figure things out, because nothing is established. In episodes where we do get sections of slow build up, we usually either already have the answers that our protagonists are looking for, or the build up was pointless and the characters figure out how to win by magic. The pacing in many episodes is exhausting because you're being given a million questions and none of them are answered, our heroes just figure it out off screen or suddenly by magic and the show has to play you some overbearing dramatic music to tell you how important the moment is because the writing does nothing to invest you in the plot.

I was hoping for a return to form from this series, but it seems like we're just getting more smug nonsense. It's really disappointing.
