ive been trying to come up with a way to talk about my take on The Argument, but honesty i can't get past these pages where Wolfwood shoots Rai-Dei. there are four panels on this two page spread, and no words, but god there's so much said in it. i keep flipping back and forth between it and the next page like "holy shit wolfwood. holy shit wolfwood." like. like we know. we've known since volume two of trigun that wolfwood was one of the GHG. we've known! this is knowledge that we have had for multiple volumes.

i literally cannot get over the expression on wolfwood's face in the pages leading up to their fight (and this expression lingers through their fight, mind you)

like!!! this is the start of their argument!!! wolfwood cannot let vash die. and if he has to kill to do it he's going to kill to do it. vash is supposed to suffer. he cannot suffer if he's dead.

and this is the lead up to their argument. they have such philosophical differences about life, Vash believing every life is precious and that everyone can change, where Wolfwood's convinced that people won't. he thinks Vash is foolish - is naive for not taking the GHG seriously. Wolfwood wants - Wolfwood needs - to know Vash is taking this seriously, is prepared to kill if Vash wants to keep everyone else alive.

Wolfwood needs to know Vash is prepared for the shit Wolfwood knows - or suspects, if he doesn't know off hand - Legato is going to send.

They're talking past one another! they care so much about one another but their love languages differ so hard. (and i don't even mean this in a shipping way tho you could take it that way)

This song is very inanimate insanity coded, and by that I mean MePhone specifically. (Of course, it's a song about Taco and I'm Making it about MePhone, that's what I do.)

Healing is a process, Mepad knows that well, and seeing everything that's happened is probably why MePad quit. Besides the terrible work conditions he's put through, MePad just can't stand everyone being dragged through the mud. Taco was so right, the game's getting really serious and it's taking a toll on everyone (including MePhone, which MePad definitely got front-row seats too). I wonder if he feels a part of the problem and is now trying to rectify it. I mean, it'd make sense why he's helping out Taco now.

I feel even more justified in saying it after looking at the resignation scene again. MePad is thoroughly done with MePhone's shit, and for good reason. Tempting to not REVIVE someone just to make sure the show goes smoothly is fucked up! MePad's had enough and AUGH FUCK YEAH AND AAUGHHH FUCK NO MEPHONE'S REACTION TO HIM RESIGNING-

He hints at it actually happening with the "'First without' you have no idea", being connected to him not having an assistant for more than half of s3, and the "for half a day the world actually felt peaceful" referring to the s3 finale. Or at least that's all I'm assuming. But to them, it's only been a couple hours..?

I'mm soooo fuckin' lost, but my theory is that he either alt-reality'd that season or time travelled, or something. That's just not makin' sense, especially with this happening tho

I just can't think of any other way that this would make sense and be canonical other than MePhone himself went into an alternate timeline to do s3. That does give me fic ideas though...

Anyways... Connecting it back to MePad and everything though, I find it both funny and saddening to see that he's gone back to s2 persona (when thinking about it in terms of my theory). It's so obvious that it's a front, from the turn of his heel to change topics away from his "vacation" with the pained "BUUUTTT ANYWAY", to the short pause before going "WELL!" after MePad's resignation, to the "And if you're ready to talk" thing being shot with his cover-up is another-

You don't need me to tell you it's a front, everyone and their mama knows, but I'll continue to do so 'cause I physically have to, or else I'll explode. You can tell it really tears him up from how MePhone reacted when he first saw MePad.

LOOK AT THE SHOCK ON HIS PIXELY FACE!! He probably thought MePad fully abandoned him or something before his "vacation" and this was whiplash that it wasn't THEN MePad ACTUALLY left?!? Of course it's gotta hurt, but s2 means he's got the host role to fill, and that means being a snarky sack of shit (I say that with love, of course).

She's so right here by the way, the years he spent on iii for "something new" shows that he's not trying to move away. Sure it got him to come back to s2 in the first place, but now that he's here, what did he actually learn? Actions speak louder than words, and so far, he's been just the same s2 asshole host we remember. Though you know what could change all that..?

That's my prediction for ii 16.

Soo heard ya seen the georgetown palace production of cats with the female munk kinda curious on ur thoughts on whats the production like?

It was fun :o3 Im forgetting stuff already, but I do know that seeing it changed my opinions on Skimbleshanks.

Using this ask as an excuse to write down a summary for myself (not in exact song order uhhh)

Starting numbers were good. Don’t have much to say, but seeing it live and kinda close is def different from seeing 5 pixel bootlegs!! These cats are people sized!! Also you could hear the noise when they pounced on the floor. I think some of that had to do with how small the theatre was. Also Vickys solo was mostly on a pole. I thought that they wouldn’t keep the sensuality of her parts but they did!

The Old Gumbie Cat number was soo good. But that was expected from the best song in the musical. Ive already praised Munku’s actress so :o3 .The gumbie trio sounded wonderful!! But during their part they did stuff with sticks and it was definitely a bit too loud.. The guys were the mice instead of the girl kits. They made a cute little shawl for Jenny out of rope that she wore throughout the show. Rumpel and Mungo may or may not have stolen it later. The beetles tattoo was very good! I think ive already mentioned it but Munkus led most of it. Jenny did lead some of it tho. She also came in inside of a shoe-car?? Oversized light up sneaker that she was riding. Supports my hc that these cats are 3 centimeters tall.

Oki so I missed some of The RTT because im lame and I can never watch this number without looking away for a bit. Anyways, the actor was funny as hell. Made silly faces through the show. Sillabub had a “I ❤️ Tugger” cardboard sign. Very important. Bomba and Tugger were def very close. Munkus and Tugger hung out a lot too! He got a lil crown during the number from his fangirls :3 . The end bit went on for some time but it made me giggle from what I remember so it was good 👍

Bustopher Jones sounded very nice. Very jolly. Wasn’t the full song I think. Some of the cats didn’t seem to like him which lame 🙄!! (Misto and Skimble were very exited tho!). Jenny still had the crush and got a flower at the end¿. (im forgetting stuff already) Also Bustopher Jones existed outside of his song! Win for Bustopher fans everywhere.

Mungo and Rumpel were trying to be funny I think?? But a lot of it came of like those parodies of Cats. Yknow, the ones were the cat role isnt taken seriously and its like “hahah, hairballs”. Was not a fan. Hated it actually. Maybe I just hate fun idk. They were also in front being silly wayy to much. During multiple numbers. There was some dialogue at the start of their song, them asking if it was safe to come out yet instead of the usual Rumpel laughs. The two actually being scared of Mac isnt something I usually interpret, but mmm has u thinking.

Augh during one of the Scares (not sure which one) they (Deme starts and cats join in) say (not truly sing) a part of Macavity, emphasizing the hypnotizing part (foreshadowing💥). Took away some of the mystery but it didnt bother me that much. They could have made it sound better tho 😭

The Jellicle Ball choreo was a bit disappointing, but I don’t remember much uhh. The music was good tho. Misto lifted Victoria btw, if any of the 3 mistoria shippers see this.

GLAMOUR CAT REPRISE!! GLAMOUR CAT REPRISE HOW I LOVE YOU! After it I think it was just Grizz and Sillabub was there watching her from up high in the set. I dont remember if Old D stayed, but he might have.

Moments of Happiness was good I rlly liked Old Ds voice. Victoria and Jemima had a little dance at the end although this could have also happened before/during the Jellicle Ball.

Gus the Theatre cat was wonderful <33 . Such a great Jelly. One of my favorites (although I already have a lot of favorite Jellys :’3). She was sweet and her voice was nice. The number was def a bit less sad and more funny. Mmm something cute is that like 4 cats worked to place and fluff up a pillow on the hat¿ Gus sat on.

Macavity fight was very cool. There wasn’t the reveal bit. He just came in ready to fight. Demeter fought quite a bit. All the other cats (apart from Munkus [who got their ass beat like usual] and Deme) who hit Mac were all played by male actors. Munk did recover and finish it off tho (I think). Deme was also kitnapped. Definitely a suprise! There was this box they were sliding around and stuff and Mac escaped by going inside with her in it after hypnotizing her. They really played into that part. I somehow missed Old Deuteronomy being kitnapped before all this idk how.

Speaking of Macavity I loved Demeters voice. She was really good. I knew Macavity was gonna be good when I heard her in the opening number 🙏. Bomba had a deeper voice and I rlly liked the playfulness the actress brought to her. Ermm I dont remember much else.

SKIMBLESHANKS THE RAILWAY CAT was awesom. Actor was very expressive. Bustopher appears during this song. There was a bit where mungo/rumpel stole Bustophers’ watch, skimble caught them, and then Bustopher came back to get it and found skimbol with it. ‘,:-\ . Very silly I liked that part. There was also like 2 seconds of tap dancing I swear. Instant bonus points. Everybody loves Skimbleshanks for good reasons and I finally understood why.

Magical Mr Mistoffelees was fun! Its always such a happy joyful song! The Conjuring Turns!!! Holy moly. Its another experience to actually be there clapping. Memory sounded good I will not deny this! But the acting. It wasnt that emotional.. which is what I mainly like about Memory. She mostly just sung towards the audience. You didn’t really get the feeling she was angry/sad/regretful and desperate.

Now unto Volume 1 - Chapter 4

Meryl sums up Vash so well. He gave the bounty to the people that hunted him.

I must say tho. How did they get salmon? I get that the Plants can produce them. But... how? Do the Plants produce them as raw whole fish? Live fish? Neatly sliced fish? The production of water and energy is really easy to imagine. However, specific stuff like this bewilders me.

Also, I like the '98 a little better because the townspeople are more involved - showing remorse and gratitude at the same time.

Another incredible double spread. I like the massive scale of the ship is drawn. But I'm distracted by Meryl and Milly's hands here. It's so funny how to communicates so much fury and incredulity.

So, the tracking device stuff happened way earlier?!

It's interesting how these sequence of events were re-arranged in the '98 with minor changes. Yet even with that, the "spirit" of the characters stayed true.

Meryl and Milly are competent with their jobs. It's just that Vash is a bit "very much" and they constantly have to adapt to the string of unfortunate events shenanigans he always inevitably get involved in.

LMAO!!! This never gets old. But why is the other kitty not here too?! I guess the reddish brown one is a'98 original.

Another interesting double page that makes me wonder... How does it look in a book format? Wouldn't there be some warping in the middle that may affect the full picture?

I'm curious because I'm reading the Overhaul version atm since the official English release, apparently, is not exactly stellar with the translation (Hopefully not John Werry level). Anyway, the pages are cleaned up so the art is great for the double page spreads.

After coming off from Tristamp, seeing this in the manga and remembering how it was in '98... holy fucking shit Tristamp Vash had it worse. So so much worse. That poor iteration of Vash didn't even got the chance to breathe or be appreciated like this by the people on screen. It was just one long trauma conga line.

Or maybe it was a problem in pacing? Tristamp went hard and fast with its story pace (practically JJK style) unlike here in the manga and most definitely unlike '98. The latest Trigun adaptation left no room for filler-y stuff like this... I wish they did tho.

But augh... thinking about it, maybe it's for the best that Studio Orange didn't because Roberto would definitely feel like a Milly replacement and earn more fan ire (which would totally be understandable imho). The production will be tougher too since it means more animation to do especially "anime physics" character acting which, as I mentioned before, is rough to do in 3D.

However... Vash deserved a lot more comfort in Tristamp not to mention even more character dynamics between Meryl, Wolfwood, and Roberto. Sigh. It's the JJK Pacing Dilemma all over again for me.

I remember this too from '98! And it is still funny. I can still hear the VA's "drunk" voice.

OKAY! Now it makes sense why this kid was worried that his story was "too impossible" to be believed. He straight up used the term "sodomy". Children suffering from such threats or abuse won't usually say it so formally (?) like that (or as I believe but I'm not knowledgeable on this). It was a red flag of a lie. Hmm... small change but quite an impact.

Huh... If you ask me, I think dish duty is much better than the cashier. Customer service gives me the hives.

However, '98 I think made the right call to have Meryl and Milly work the cashier. It suits them especially since they used it as an opportunity to bully Vash!

ANYWAYS. Midlink. Yes. Absolutely my favorite ship of all time. So like… funny story, I HATED them in the beginning. I thought it was weird I was like “oh this makes no sense. This is dumb. Peopl are just shipping them together ONLY cuz they interact 🙄” but then I saw really good fanart of midlink and saw their dynamic and I saw many gifs from the game that I hadn’t seen before and I realized how much chemistry there was between the two of them and I just fell in love. I was also digging tall girlfriend and short boyfriend a lot and they fueled me. Just… their canon interactions is so tender and so sweet and they clearly care about each other so much?? And you can see it as platonic or romantic which is great cuz that means that their relationship is built on friendship first and foremost! And that is so much more special to me than two characters just falling in love out of nowhere. You see Link basically kill her with kindness and AUGH SHABSSJSBAKBAKABAKAAKAK THEIR INTERACTIONS HAAHVSWHWHKSSBKSJSKSK. I love them sm. You can see the way they work together and interact that there’s just so much LOVE. And then the end. Oh my goodness. There’s nothing to her for me; I feel like I’ve seen her character ten thousand times before. I know people love her and I saw a hostile post about her haters once but it doesn’t matter. I don’t like her. And so I don’t ship her with Link… cuz any character I don’t like, I don’t ship with characters I do like. And I don’t feel any chemistry with them? I like the idea that Link felt pressured to be with her cuz he just really didn’t love her romantically you know? Just cuz you interact with the gender you like doesn’t really mean you’ll fall for them immediately. It’s just not how it works. Small tangent but I’ll leave it alone. I hate it.

Tp zelink is def one of my least favorite zelinks lol. They have NO chemistry. Sure people can like… try to justify it, but overall there’s nothing there. I overall am growing out of love for zelink in general? I hate the idea of soulmates and them HAVING to be together only cuz they’re link and Zelda. Just not a fan. I get how people love it but I don’t like it. They never even converse with each other honestly, and they give each other a very awkward look cuz it was the first time they’ve been alone with Link as a Hylian lmao. I also didn’t really like tp Zelda that much cuz…. I didn’t find her very interesting? And cuz I didn’t like the zelink ship I just didn’t like her? But after exploring her character more in love at twilight I’ve grown to greatly appreciate her. Just wish she was explored more in game (tho they probably would’ve given her an extremely generic personality so it’s probably for the best).

I had to look up Hena cuz I forgor who she was (I assumed she was that cute fisherwoman and she is :)) again, I’m more of a midlink loser so any other ship I don’t vibe with. But I don’t HATE it. I’ve actually never seen this ship before, but it’s definitely charming in its own way! I just really love Hena. She’s a very fun character very different from her other siblings and she’s super cute and pretty so like… yeah I’m not fully against it unlike illink and zelink lol.

Ok I have a good few reasons for this!!! I love es milgram that much is obvious but my reasons for liking characters is usually really disorganized so I'll try my best

A) they're so cool looking I love their character design!!! Like holy shit. I've cosplayed them before type of good character design yk

C) they're such a fun concept for an audience insert!! With their own opinions and morals that are somewhat shaped by the audience. Affected by but not entirely reflective of the audiences views and opinions because they're still their own character. Augh.

I like to think they regularly check in on the prisoners of their own will! They say it's routine checkup but realistically jackalope didn't say shit about checking in on prisoners outside of interrogations.

Well....on first watch of half I spent an hour analysing it, but I can't quite remember my first impression of kazui as a character...

Except this time it's what my brain decided to come up with the literal second I woke up. My mind chose violence.

OK SO. BIG BIG WARNING FOR BODY HORROR FOR THIS. B I G.

So I woke up and my brain's favorite activity is torturing the blorbos in my mind so. I got this idea.

Directly post the group minus Moon and Sugar find a new shelter to sleep in, Pebbles ends up having a nightmare. A bad one. One vivid enough that he doesn't even recognize it as a dream.

He 'wakes up' outside, in the swamp. There's no fireflies anymore. He's alone. He cannot even access his Overseers. He walks through the swamp, trying to find his way back to the shelter, but he doesn't recognize where he is. At one point he's grabbed by some of that rot plant, and he pulls himself out successfully only to get a good look at it. It isn't the rot plant anymore. It's actual Rot. Pebbles looks around and realizes- Everything, it's all Rot. Cysts of black and blue coat the entire swamp, reaching up trees and taking over the leaves and it's even in the water, the ground he walks on is marked with x's everywhere and it isn't mushy dirt anymore, it pops and squelches under his steps. Of course, he's horrified, trapped in this rot-infested location, to the point where the only noise he can hear is these moist dragging popping and his own electronic whines as the Rot tendrils try to grab at him. But it gets worse. There's finally a noise under everything else. Pebbles turns and he sees Peach, finally, a familiar face, but something is wrong. The lizard's head is dull of color, and its torso is covered in cysts, it's being held up by long tendrils of pinkish rot. Its eye is dead, it's dead, Peach has died and it was killed by the Rot. Clover comes next, its entire body consumed, leaving just its blacked out head visible, jaw open and drooling an acidic black liquid. One by one they all appear- Angel's been reverted to her taken over form. Cherry's fur is no longer spikey but bumpy and squishy, bright red x's covering her normally scarred eye. Cream and Sugar are taken too, Sugar's rot-infested body marred with bite marks, one of its ears is entirely gone. Even the pups, one of them has a giant tumor growing right where its heart should be. They slowly surround him, he's more than just trapped he's doomed, he will die, and then- Moon. Moon finally appears approaching him dead on. But she isn't Moon anymore. No, the Rot got her too, it's taken over her puppet, bursting under panels and her eyes have x's in them and all of her is gone except for maybe a leg, scraps of clothing, and her face.

And then, he wakes up.

So yeah my imagination is horrifying

Yeah idk i think Lutz definitely had a moment where he became a total non-believer/hater as he was going through the motions of dealing with his grief. Like he definitely blamed all the archons for it at least once. Over the years tho... i think he just.. calmed down? Like he isn't a total believer still, but he isn't against it.
