Day 4: Hobbies
I think all three Valkyries love to participate in each other's hobbies! Here are some of my headcanons:
Dancing
They dance to Nesta's Symphonia at sleepovers
You can often find them in the training ring on solstice and other sacred nights, or dancing beneath a full moon. They'll also welcome the day with a sunrise dance, or end their day with dancing at sunset
Gwyn loves a more lyrical/contemporary type dance
Emerie likes quick, sharp movements, like jazz
Nesta, as we know, loves a ballroom dance, whether it's a slow waltz or a sultry tango
Singing
The Valkyries go to Rita's every other week for karaoke
Gwyn, as Nesta guessed, is a mezzo-soprano
Nesta and Emerie are altos
They provide incredible back up vocals to Gwyn's singing
On top of that, they often sing with her when she's doing her warm ups for service or if she's practicing for a new song
Gardening
The Valkyries get together every week to garden at Emerie's
They make soups and breads with the veggies and herbs they pick
They all have their own little plot, and although it's not a competition, Gwyn can't help but boasts when hers yields more
They all wear custom aprons with their names on it, made by Emerie
If any section of crop is under-performing, the Valkyries tend to that section like it was their own child. Sitting with it, talking to the plants, holding umbrellas over it on particularly sunny days, etc.
Other hobbies I think they'd share:
Pottery | Surfing | Book binding
Pottery: Gwyn makes dagger holders. Nesta makes book ends. Emerie makes vases.
Surfing: Gwyn likes a shortboard, better for sick tricks. Nesta likes a nice long wave ride, so longboard for her. Emerie started with a longboard to get used to the balancing with her wings, but is now attached to the versatility of a funboard.
Book Binding: Gwyn loves using ribbons and intricate patterns on her covers. Nesta likes a classic, leather-bound look, giving her smutty books a more sophisticated aesthetic. Emerie uses shiny gold and silver embellishments -- maybe too much sometimes.

Just toying around.
HT-04R Jacaranda Blazer Custom. Dramstellar's Jacaranda pilots were not only concerned when the first stolen designs began appearing on the battlefield, they were also horrified to face custom units that were better kitted and armed. The Blazer custom wielded a dual beam/titanium halberd, two backpack mounted railguns, and a longboard shield.

Hey Nixie, can you show us your longboard? No innuendo intended, I have one too and love cruising around on it! Based on your impeccable aesthetics, I'm curious about what's your ride of choice!
these incredibly cropped pics are all I got rn but I ride a custom century 40 I got from subsonic while they were still around, with some boardnamics precision calibers and [idk] wheels. it's a really weird setup but it was gonna become an electric board originally cause I used to build those as a hobby but I ended up moving before I could finish the electronics package so now I just have this wonky board.

Skate AU
Random ideas for a skate AU. Idk i got back into watching skate vids so here we are:
The Koskelas are both skateboarders. Ilmo likes to freestyle and they built the small Watery skatepark. Jaakko likes to skate at the park and do tricks there. Charline has taken on longboarding and likes dancing on it. Charlie mainly uses a cruiser to skate around town and use it as transport mainly.
Saga is a roller skate girl. She loves to skate around parks and takes part in competitions. She's probably part of a roller skate group in her city. She likes to wear colorful outfits and protection gear. Street skating comes naturally as she grew up in the big city. At one point, she convinces Casey to join her skate obsession but he uses inline skates. He doesn't do it often but enjoys it when he has some free time and likes to move.
Jaakoppi is also a roller skate nerd who mainly enjoys being at the skatepark. He really loves vert skateboarding and used to illegally skateboard in the empty swimming pool of the neighbours. Ilmari is more of a skateboarder but he can inline skate. He switches it up depending on the day and his mood. He's a more aggressive skater and has customized his skateboard accordingly.
Alan is a casual skateboarder who cruises around the city with Barry whenever he has the chance to. Baggy and layered clothes remain his main fashion in this AU. He has his smaller, cruiser board for transport but a separate skateboard for when he hits the park.
I can actually imagine both Zane and Scratch being into downhill skateboarding. Scratch wears no protection and probably has skated barefeet on multiple occasions. He's an adrenaline junkie. Zane makes YouTube vids of his downhill runs. His main protection is his helmet and gloves.
Alice is more of a longboarding fan. During summer, she likes to cruise along the coast. She has started her own local group of female longboarders. Besides longboarding, she uses inline skates to film Alan around.
Kiran Estevez is part of a roller derby team for sure. It's how she unwinds after a long, tense work day. In her younger years she would roller skate to work but she can also still be found at indoor skate parks, meeting up with friends and daring each other new tricks. She recently got into longboarding.

for the ask game! 🌈
Hello! Apologies this is wildly late!!
🌈- What are some common hobbies?
We have quite a few throughout the system!
As for outerworld hobbies, we do arts & crafts like drawing & painting, pagan spellwork & divination, rollerblading or longboarding when we have the spoons, and we play a menagerie of video games depending on the member! Badeline specifically is learning guitar, and Pure Vanilla is trying to get us into gardening. We used to be avid readers and writers as well, but we can't take either up again reasonably until we find a medication that works.
Innerworld hobbies are interesting too! Metaphysics is still a big focus, but there's more interest on how spirituality, magic from different canons, and Chaos Magick affect our headspace & system's function. Refining magic & metaphysical tech is a big hobby in headspace. And off of that, just obtaining knowledge/learning in general- the center of the City is a giant library. Exploring is another popular one, since headspace is pretty large and all that ground sure hasn't been covered by anyone. Like 85% of headspace is free of anything harmful/dangerous so it's pretty safe to wander. And for people that want more of a challenge, there're the various floating islands where gravity is particularly sketchy, or Celeste Mountain that forces you to face your own internal tendancies as you climb. We also have a colosseum for the fighters, it has a program set up to automatically rebuild itself when it gets inevitably destroyed by someone or another's duels. Beyblade is also pretty popular!! Some fictives brought it over and the other Croissants will custom make ones for people that get in on it. Casual fights can be in the park or one of the little bowl stadiums but serious battles needa go to the colosseum.
thanks for asking! this was fun to talk about

Do you know what mistakes will a beginner make when buying an electric skateboard?
As a beginner, there are several mistakes you should avoid when buying an electric skateboard. Here are a few to keep in mind:
Not considering safety features: Safety should be your top priority when it comes to electric skateboards. Make sure to look for a board with features such as a reliable braking system, a sturdy deck, and adequate grip tape. Also, don't forget to wear proper safety gear, including a helmet, knee and elbow pads, and wrist guards.
Choosing the wrong board for your skill level: Electric skateboards come in a range of sizes and speeds, and it's essential to choose one that matches your skill level. If you're a beginner, opt for a board that's easy to control and has a lower top speed.
Not researching the brand: Before buying an electric skateboard, it's crucial to research the brand and read reviews from other riders. You want to make sure you're investing in a quality board from a reputable company that offers good customer service and reliable warranties.
Ignoring the battery life: Electric skateboards are powered by batteries, and the battery life can vary significantly from one board to the next. Be sure to look for a board with a battery life that meets your needs and allows you to ride for the amount of time you want.
Forgetting about the weight: Electric skateboards can be heavy, and if you plan to carry your board around when you're not riding it, it's essential to consider the weight. Look for a board that's lightweight and easy to carry or has a convenient carrying handle.
Overall, take your time when choosing an electric skateboard and make sure to prioritize safety, research the brand, and choose a board that matches your skill level and needs.

In the wake of the pandemic and increasing concerns over sports-related head injuries, marketing for helmets has surged to an all-time high. Many businesses, who specialize in helmets for sports like cycling, motocross, snow skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, and skateboarding, are discovering increased interest in their protective gear as safety becomes a higher priority.
Helmets have traditionally been seen as a piece of equipment that is merely functional. But thanks to the pandemic, companies are now focusing on the safety benefits of their products, with more marketing campaigns designed to raise awareness of the importance of wearing a helmet. Many cities have also taken steps to encourage helmet use by passing mandatory helmet laws for various sports. This has helped to drive helmet sales even higher.
Helmet manufacturers are now creating helmets specifically designed for cycling, motocross, and snow skiing. They are also offering colorful, stylish helmets that appeal to a younger demographic. In addition, many companies are now offering extra accessories like face shields, detachable goggles, and audio systems that can be integrated into helmets, and this has helped to boost sales even further.
In today’s digital world, businesses are able to reach more potential customers through their digital and social media campaigns. By effectively leveraging their presence on multiple channels, these companies are able to increase their visibility and spread the message that helmets are a vital part of any sport. Whether they are used for mountain biking, longboarding, skateboarding, or any other activities, the message is becoming much clearer– helmets can be stylish, fun, and provide a critical layer of protection from head injuries.
Helmets are also becoming more affordable, allowing more people to access and enjoy the benefits of helmet use. Discounts and promotions for helmets at major retailers create further incentive for people to invest in head protection while staying active amid the pandemic. As purchasers become more educated and aware of the importance of wearing protective gear, the market for helmets will continue to increase, making it an important part of many people’s sporting equipment.

Design Your Own Surfboard with Solid Surfboards
Are you a surf enthusiast looking to carve your way through the waves on a board that is truly unique? Designing your own surfboard is an exciting and rewarding process that allows you to create a board tailored to your specific style and needs. At Solid Surfboards, we believe in empowering surfers to bring their dream boards to life with custom designs and top-notch craftsmanship. Here’s how you can Design your own surfboard and make the most out of your surfing experience.
Why Go Custom?
Choosing a custom surfboard offers numerous advantages over off-the-rack options. Custom boards allow you to:
Tailor Fit and Performance: A custom board can be shaped to match your body size, skill level, and surfing style. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, the right dimensions can significantly impact your performance.
Personalize Aesthetics: Express your personality through custom graphics, colors, and logos. Your board becomes an extension of your identity.
Optimize for Local Conditions: Design a board that suits the specific wave conditions of your local surf spot, whether it’s small beach breaks or powerful reef breaks.
The Design Process
1. Consultation
The journey begins with a consultation. At Solid Surfboards, we work closely with you to understand your needs, preferences, and surfing goals. This stage involves discussing your surfing background, the types of waves you typically surf, and any specific design ideas you have in mind.
2. Choosing the Shape
The shape of your surfboard is crucial for its performance. Here are some common shapes and their characteristics:
Shortboard: Ideal for high-performance surfing, offering maneuverability and speed.
Fish: Wider and shorter, perfect for smaller waves and providing extra buoyancy.
Longboard: Classic style, great for smooth, flowing rides and nose-riding.
Funboard: A hybrid design that balances performance and stability, suitable for all-around surfing.
Your shaper will help you select the best shape based on your skill level and the conditions you’ll be surfing in.
3. Customizing Dimensions
Dimensions such as length, width, and thickness are adjusted to fit your body and style. The volume (measured in liters) is also crucial, as it affects the board’s buoyancy. A board with the right volume will help you paddle efficiently and catch waves more easily.
4. Selecting Materials
The choice of materials affects the board’s durability and performance. Solid Surfboards offers a range of options including:
Polyurethane (PU) Foam: Traditional and versatile, offering a classic feel.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Foam: Lightweight and strong, ideal for high-performance boards.
Eco-Friendly Materials: Options like recycled foam and bio-resins for environmentally conscious surfers.
5. Designing the Look
This is where your creativity shines. Work with our team to design graphics, colors, and finishes that make your board stand out. Whether you prefer a sleek, minimalist design or a vibrant, eye-catching look, the choice is yours.
6. Crafting the Board
Once the design is finalized, our skilled craftsmen get to work. Shaping, glassing, and finishing are done with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that your board is not only beautiful but also high-performing.
7. Final Touches and Delivery
After the board is crafted, we add any final touches, such as leash plugs and fins. Your custom surfboard is then ready for pickup or delivery, and you can hit the waves with a board that is uniquely yours.
Conclusion
Designing your own surfboard is a fantastic way to enhance your surfing experience. At Solid Surfboards, we are committed to helping you create a board that reflects your personal style and meets your specific needs. Whether you’re riding your first wave or perfecting your barrel, a custom surfboard is an investment in your surfing journey.
