Why are people SURPRISED that Alhaitham is nice???

He IS nice, yes hes cold but not intentionally, thats just how he is but he doesnt mean it in a terrible way

He doesnt flaunt any form of superiority over someone since he even says that he personally doesnt value himself more than others, rather hes stating facts that comes o f f as being cocky when hes just saying what IS correct, hes blunt till the point where people often consider it as rude and arrogant but he sees it as something that is normal because thats literally how he is

Yes, being blunt isnt always a good thing and people should know when to say the truth, not lie but postpone it, but theres also a consideration that not everyone is able to always know social cues and multiple (including myself) struggle to pick them up often, and of course it comes with consequences just like how Alhaitham is heavily disliked by some of the professors or even other students for his "unacceptable" attitude

His entire SQ is also about how he doesnt care how others perceive him but puts his foot down when it endangers others even when he doesnt even know who they are and all he wants is just a simple life

Hes not mean nor a terrible person, hes actually a nice person

Just because someone DOESN'T fall into the *common* character type of being a happy go lucky, always cheerful and smiling person doesnt automatically make them mean

Obvious spoilers for the fontaine archon quest in general for my thoughts and interpretations

Okay FIRST OF ALL NEUVI SENTENCING FURINA TO DEATH.

Okay so refer to what neuvi said at the end of Act 4 where 'all sovereigns are not im full dragonhood and it can only happen IF THEIR ARCHON DISAPPEARS'. I was hoping that Furina would somehow relinquish the gnosis or her godhood to Neuvi to let him be full dragonhood and stop the flood and WELL THIS LINES UP.

1) arlecchino did say furina was not archon like or has something wrong with her, 2) her playable character model HAS A VISION!!!!!!! 3) Iirc but her promo art, the one with the white bg with nation symbols on it, people say that it didnt have the symbols an archon would.

She's DEFINITELY losing her godhood here somehow and man. MAN IM SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW THIS PLAYS OUT

Second of all FURINA or should i say the HYDRO ARCHON as a whole

She sounded MAD when she stated she wanted to use her own trial to show the world the true meaning of justice. This leads me to believe that focalors DOES have some sort of multiple sides/personalities to her. Especially with her announcing HER OWN TRIAL through the 3rd person.

And well one of these sides is either Egeria's manifestation or furinas actual 'TRUE lady justice' side. A bit of a stretch but one of the official art in the livestream is multiple depictions of furina so it can be a lil nudge ya know.

Okay this man definitely was acquainted to Egeria in some way and this extends to Furina as well (BECAUSE HE LOOKS SO SAD LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO CRACK THIS MANS FACADE). I like to believe that Egeria and Neuvi might have a sort of Mentor/mentee/passing of the torch relationship. Because in so far everytime we hear Egeria, she talks to neuvi as if to hope that he will learn to understand humanity or learn his purpose or find SOMETHING (i forgot exactly what she says). But yeah he clearly holds her to high regard and that sentiment might extend to furina either because Egeria entrusted Neuvi with Furina, his loyalty to Egeria and Fontaine, or Furina just reminded him of Egeria and regardless of the trial still didn't want harm to come to his archon.

Okay a step back, we know that neuvi has holes about his past when he came to the world as the sovereign successor. And his line (i think its his idk) 'i seem to remember now... this trial is...' could be a call back of something Egeria told him from the past.

I firmly believe that this prophecy was actually a trial for NEUVILLETTE and not FURINA. It could be a final trial for him and his understanding of his position as chief justice and humanity. WHICH would tie into Egeria's line

Finally the GNOSIS

Okay the most obvious place is in the Oratrice. I feel like because Egeria isn't truly dead (from the who Amrita thing), it's possible that she lives in the Oratrice where she guides Neuvi and Furina. That's why it seems like it has its own conciousness and agenda. It's why it falsely accused Childe (and presumably Furina too). It might be why neuvi i think says this.

Anyways theres NO WAY the gnosis is staying in the oratrice lmao. There's bound to be a power transfer, the oratrice might be dead or dismantled because of its previous 'wrong' accusation for childe. And well im very much hoping it goes to Neuvi where he'll finally have his own meaning of Justice and no longer needs the assistance of the Oratrice to make judgements

I dont have much to say about Skirk, im most certainly looking forward to skirk childe interaction. Im guessing shes there at the abyss side either for the Narssizkruenz (fack spelling) ordo relation or well.. the gnosis. Im taking a random guess that she and the abyss might take away the gnosis to prevent celestia from descending early because fontaine is giving back the power they stole from a sovereign back to him.

Summary: Who is holding who and why and when?

Genre: Fluff/Angst/Comfort + Snippets

CWs: gn!reader, angst/comfort in Xiao’s and Kaveh’s, only proofread in a half-assed kind of way

To be held by Alhaitham is not rare but not common either. This act of intimacy happens primarily in the late hours of the night and the wee hours of the morning. It’s the times when he just can’t be bothered to let go of the pleasant warmth you give off as he stays snuggled in the covers, nowhere near ready to start his day. It's in the moments where you take a seat on the opposite side of the couch, sometimes even the other couch altogether, unwilling to disturb your lover as he reads. Yet, somehow, not even five minutes later the man will find his place beside you, eyes never leaving the page as he guides you to lean against him.

And even when you've found a comfortable position for the both of you, Alhaitham's arm remains in its spot around you.

To hold Diluc is to hold the weight of worlds because that is what he himself does. He carries the lives of everyone in the city when he takes up his place as the Darknight Hero, he manages a whole industry from its product to its staff, ensuring that both are properly taken care of. Most of all, he takes care of you. You who shall not see another day of harm or sadness if he has anything to say about it, you who shall always be loved by him.

To hold Diluc is to temporarily allow him to not shoulder these responsibilities, to let him relax, be loved and just be Diluc.

To hold and be held by Kaveh is like looking at the sea crash onto the sand then recede - sometimes there is more sand, sometimes there’s more water. This is an accurate way to visualize your relationship, sometimes Kaveh holds you and other times you hold him. To hold Kaveh is to let him know that just because he is sad doesn’t mean he has to hide it, least of all from you. Holding him means to shield him from the world just for a little while. To hold him is to let him calm down from venting or ranting, be the topic about Alhaitham or some client. To be held by Kaveh, however, is like drowning in happiness. If he’s holding you, the chances are high that he’s smiling earnestly, laughing at either something you’ve said or a situation he’s retold.

If you’re holding each other, the chances of him being happy are indisputably high. Really, if you’re holding each other, it’s no longer a chance that he’s content, it’s fact.

To hold Xiao is like holding a baby bird or glass figurine, so fragile and to be handled with care. Xiao is the furthest from being weak when it comes to physical or mental strength, but even he will one day succumb to the years of sorrow weighing on him, crumbling until it’s almost impossible to get back up. So to find him curled into himself, his agony hanging heavy and all-consuming, it’s only natural for your first instinct to be to embrace him. He’ll tense in the beginning, perhaps always remaining unaccustomed to physical affection, but the longer you hold him, remaining by his side and letting your warmth seep into his bones, the more the darkness backs away to where it came from.

It’s a long war to be fought, but in this instant, you can be sure you won this battle.

I’m gonna be honest I’m so sick of the “Genshin could never” comments every time Star Rail comes out with new updates like I literally saw someone get mad and claim they’re abandoning Genshin not because they wouldn’t give QoL updates but because [checks notes] they took too long to do it? Like this dude was literally like “3 years to add basic QoL updates time to abandon this shitshow” like what the fuck were you sticking around for then? And on top of that, I don’t know how the HSR devs feel about this or if they even know but personally if I were them I’d find it incredibly annoying if I spent all this time and effort to make these great updates and benefits and the response was just using my work to shit on someone else’s work.

BUT god it's so hard not to shit on Mihoyo's character designs

Like I could write a whole fucking essay on why Yae Miko maybe has the ONLY good character design in Inazuma, and how Kokomi's and Raiden's designs are an affront to character design

Not to mention how much I could dunk on how pasty white the entirety of their fantasy India is

quick disclaimer that I still play and enjoy these games and Jingliu has me by the balls no matter how painfully boring her character design actually is

I guess it goes without saying that the design of any character in a gacha game is created with only a single thought in mind and that is: MASS MARKET APPEAL!

Which means the characters are meant to be PRETTY and their designs are meant for immediate appeal, not to actually inform the character

This results in some...weirdness

Like the fact that the Natasha (girl on the left) raised Seele (girl on the right) from childhood and used to run an orphanage, meaning she's much MUCH older than Seele, even tho they look about the same age

Okay Nat does look a little older, but no one is allowed to look old in this game

Something that becomes extra clear with

Serval! Who you'd be forgiven for thinking is a young adult playing for a rock band, and not a middle aged disgraced scientist who used to be in a rock band.

And yeah she's supposed to be AT LEAST in her 30s, because girl is the same age as Cocolia and that woman is a mother to an adult woman by the time we meet her

Oh and speaking of Nat and Serval, you've now seen 2/3s of all characters with ANY FORM OF BLEMISHES ON THEIR SKIN!

Nat has a spot on her chin, and Serval has a tattoo on her hip

Last one is Arlan

My man has the only two scars in this whole ass video game. He's also the only dark skinned character. He follows a pattern set by Xinyan and Dehya in Genshin, by being dark skin rep, carrying a big sword, and sucking absolute ass

But okay these characters are pretty, but there's nothing wrong with keeping characters pretty. Well, there is when their prettiness goes against what their character is supposed to be

So Belobog's story is one of class struggle in a military state that is holding back a never ending catastrophe. The entire population of the world is just one big walled city holding back the cold.

In it the rich and powerful live in the Overworld, where they have museums and theaters and grand statues, and a massive building from which their rulers can pass judgement.

The Underworld is mostly just a giant fucking mine where the lower class people are forced to work 24/7 in order to get food and medicine from the Overworld in the hopes that they'll keep surviving.

Underworld characters are survivors who have been struggling every day of their lives and have NEVER SEEN SUNLIGHT BEFORE

Yeah guys I can really get hardworking survivor from these two

But I mean that is just ONE planet, it can't be a thing for EVERY world, right? ...right?

So the Xianzhou Luofu is... a lot. Like it would take a long time to explain everything that is up with those guys, but the big themes here are stuff around chronic illness, memories, PTSD, war time trauma, and a whole bunch of stuff about aging

Like here are two characters who are veterans of war. One is constantly overwhelmed by her own traumatic memories, causing her to go into violent dissociative episodes.

The other one lost her copilot/best friend/rival/love of her life (YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME SHE ISN'T GAY, MIHOYO) in battle, and the trauma of that loss has left her terrified of flying again, living the rest of her life in the shadow of this one monumental event

...yeah I don't see it either

But hey don't worry, this game believes in gender equality, and that means the men are also just very pretty and very boring

Like the Luofu's messiest polycule, who are all millennia old pretty boys made with the sole purpose of making the straight women in the fanbase call them "daddy"

Well at least Blade has spider lily symbolism, which is like always a plus for me

Hi chat should I make a longer post ranting about Natlan. Genuinely giving it both a criticism but also a heated rant.

I'm not someone directly connected to any of their cultures so I don't plan on making a full breakdown on those, but at the very least show people what their original inspirations are.

I've loved Genshin for a long ass time very strongly, which is why I have so many damn strong painful sentiments looking at Natlan. It is insanely fucking bad compared to everything else in Genshin itself its absurd.

Maybe this is just my opinion but I have to tell someone but didn’t want to get attacked for it lol so anyways:

Neuvillette annoys me for multiple reasons but mostly because of how so many people in the fandom treat him. Making fun of people who don’t have him, saying everyone should be playing him with no regard to the fact that some people just don’t like his play style because HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE IT (🙄 some ppl just don’t really vibe with catalyst playstyle jfc), stuff like that.

And really the biggest ones for me is the wave of archon and Navia hate i saw after ppl got him. I love the archons and Navia and like… guys. The archons because Neuvillette had those voice lines about serving Justice and everyone was like “ah yes! My bby hates them so so do I!” (Like hun you don’t need to share every value and thought as your blorbos) and they hated on Navia because she “made him upset when she yelled at him for no reason”. FIRST OF ALL she did have a reason: grief. Navia is a young woman running a massive organization whose dad recently died and she is grieving. Neuvillette is a GROWN ASS MAN and I think he can tell when someone is just lashing out and can get over it, he doesn’t need the entire Genshin fandom backing him up.

i will say this again, though: the genshin fandom skews very young. they don't yet have the critical thinking skills to realize that they're not the center of the universe. part of this problem, they'll naturally grow out of it. but part of it, the rest of the fandom should try to steer them in the right direction. they're not our responsibility, but we can't just complain about them without at least trying to help them hahaha.

that said, give it a couple of years. at some point, most of them will end up in the right place.

I finished the 2.3 story for HSR. Spoilers/thoughts below. Along with some ranting because Im letting my thoughts run freely.

Extremely mid. Like I wasnt expecting action but this was just boring.

I still want to go to the Edo Star or whatever the place that was under attack by the Antimatter Legion was called in Order's Dream.

The secret planet of the Garden of Recollection is our next destination? Obviously gonna be some M7 story probably.

Will we hear the voice of the Stellaron again? I still miss that aspect of our character. Like can something happen with the Stellaron in our body again?

Its a secret planet that not even Akivili or the rest of the universe knows about, so any threat there kinda has to be internal, or, since its the remembrance thingy, its gonna be in the past.

Im... Im not really excited about that?

Can we get something actually tense again?

I miss Jarilo. I want to see Fragmentums again. I want the Stellaron in our body to matter again. I want to see the Antimatter Legion actually be a threat and destroy literally anything. I want this game to throw any curveball at us to make it interesting again.

WuWa completely nuked its own apocalyptic tone by not showing any dark moments which creates a massive disconnect between presentation and the intended world and story. It genuinely does not feel apocalyptic or if this is a world in a dire fight for survival, but that is what the story is trying to tell but they nuked the presentation without overhauling the world and thus completely fucked their game's tone.

Stuff you need to know and characters

With 'a' names

this will eventually cover all playable characters in alphabetical order + some non playable characters + some general lore. Plz note despite having all pc xingqiu is my main/focus character because he's my favorite and it's my autism fueled au- so the more xingqiu adjacent the character the more there probably gonna have on them- also all characters will definitely not be important some are just guys and that fine and some of them are even(gasp) made to be antagonistic - have fun only reading the description for your fav character because that's what i would do if i saw some guys long ass au ranting-

Also I'm apologizing in advance for any perceived mischaracterization. Genshins got a lot of characters and knowing all of them personally would be hard but I did read the lore page on their wiki while formulating the au so nothing should be toooooo different (and if it is it's probably based on my own genshin headcanons but i will try and specify when that's the case) I tried to keep all relationships kinda similar to canon while aa translating (ex. Albedo and klee still have a sibling relationship just now klee is more sidekick-ishhhh) but liberties were taken obviously to make things more cohesive mostly just that characters that don't really interact will interact but like genshin does that all the time with events so it's not that unbelievable ok man.

And ok some personality traits will be exaggerated because aa has lots of very,very exaggerated types and character gimmicks and we're goin for that aa spirit yk.

Magic is not really an aa thing past some spiritual stuff so i will be changing that about magic based characters and also part animal characters they will either be replaced by a more aa alternative or something equivalent to the best of my ability.

A character being an archon will mean very little to this au other than that they will generally be in senior positions but the (important) futui will also mostly be senior positions sooooo.

A characters:

Albedo- He would be a competent detective on the rare occasion that he did actually work on a case. I imagine he would be more willing to take on/help with the harder cases given his pre- existing relationship with xingqiu- in genshin cannon he is xingqiu’s illustrator but now his is still that just like differently- basically they originally met when xingqiu needed and illustrator but he also happens to be a detective and the first time albedo and xingqiu met outside of their author/illustrator relationship it was in court with albedo testifying and it was really awkward for a bit but there is now no hard feelings and they get along well inside and outside of court. Now to address the elephant in the room: albedo being a synthetic human in genshin cannon. In this au he is not that anymore because the aa magic is mostly just spiritual channeling BUT if it makes you feel any better he is aware of spiritual channeling and likes to study it and he's a competent investigator unlike every aa detective. Now in aa terms/mechanics this meansssss he would only really be detectiving for the final case of each game to drop integral info or to give good hints he's like op herlock sholmes you don't have to fix what he's saying so he would have to be used sparingly in gameplay. Klee would be around more though as his kid sidekick and also a nerfed version of albedo (more info about all that in klee’s section <3)

Alhaitham- He is a really, really, pretious witness like he will tell you what you need to know but only if you ask very specific questions. He's one of the witnesses you have to press literally every statement to get the info you need, he won't lie but he won't tell you the full truth either until the last minute + he gets annoyed pretty fast (not technically hc just something kehva says that iv accepted into my perception of him). Outside of court he is basically the same as he is in genshin, just modern, yk scholar, kinda self centered, pretends to be mechanically rational.He also still lives with keveh because he went bankrupt due his really bad financial choices but now the reason they were living together the first time (in standard modern au fashion) is because they were college roommates & went halfsies on a place but then they fell out and keveh moved to be successful architect and thennnnn bankruptcy blah blah blah see your old friend at a bar,not doing well something something roommates.

Aloy- idc about her but she is playable so she gets to be a witness for the duration of 1-2 cross examinations and then gets killed during a recess to further the plot-

Amber- headcanon time (very plausible headcanon) amber is a hardcore adrenaline junkie . Anyway- she would be one of the people accused of committing murder and one of the key points people use to accuse her is pointing at her adrenaline junkie nature to say “see guys shes a thrill chaser and what brings thrill?? Murder.” Meanwhile, she's like the sweetest defendant ever and 100% trying to clear her name and being upset that anyone would even think she'd do something like that. She did not do the murder just at the wrong place at the wrong time btw. Outside of the murder accusations she is super chill and rides a motorcycle everywhere. (more amber characterization on collies section because 1 sided admiration babyyyyyyy) ( i want them to be friends so bad i will probably write them interacting more in this au)

Arataki itto- He is just a guy you have to talk to during an investigation. He has some evidence but is never questioned at the stand he just gives some hints and sends you to a new location where you get more info. The reason you have to talk to him is because he is a gang leader but it's a chill gang that's heavily misunderstood as a baddddd gang when they're mildly troublesome at best but since they have negative perception they (mostly him and kuki) get blamed really hard for crimes. Also heizou is usually just kind of around him lurking to make sure he's not being an inconvenience (not 24/7 i just think it would be a fun lil gimmick)

Arlecchino- She is fatui so as previously mentioned she's in a crime ring thingy. But she's also A PROSECUTOR!!!!!!! (first prosecutor in this list babyyyyyyy) she's cracked she's an epic lady girlboss prosecutor she's like van zikes without the racism. She would probably be the main prosecutor for 1 game and then dip for plot reasons. She is so soft on kids to a kind of comical degree ex: really mean/insulting until she realizes a kid is there and then will be like “oops sorry don't repeat that, child” and then censor herself around them even when being aggressive. She also has 3 kids of her own that pop up sometimes (we will get there). She has had many a’ run -ins with klee because of klee and albedo being around xingqiu semi-often and klee is a little scared of her/just straight dislikes her and that hurts her a bit even if it's reasonable and she knows it.

Thinking about the last time that she had a flounce of this variety, which was last September (2022). Like she's always simmering but it usually takes something that I said in passing to someone else to get her to snap like this and I know its always something like... she's been talking to her mother, or one of B's moms said something, or something just hasn't been going right for some reason and she needs to make us feel bad about doing normal things.

On this instance of last September, it was because I had said to B that we apologize in advance if we seem to be hogging the playstation in the coming month because Genshin was having a major map update and we might need to be reminded that the outside world exists.

It was a lighthearted conversation between me and B about our various videogame habits because like... they also hog the consoles from time to time so we're all very aware of our faults.

The next morning at... 4am, because she gets the insomnia bad, A tells us through the chat that if we were TRULY sorry for hogging HER playstation (it was a gift from B, and we were given permission to use it within reason) then we would help her out with the chores in the house because she's the ONLY person doing housework.

September is my busy season at work. I am working almost 40 hours and I drive 300 miles a week, but I still find time to be home to make dinner, shop groceries, plan meals, do dishes. B works 40 hours a week all year round and sometimes does dishes, but also feeds and entertains the animals, and probably a few other things. Girlfriend... could be better about doing chores but like... we all could be.

A DOES do most of the housework, but she also finds chores that I've never really considered to be done as frequently as they are. Like, for example, she's the only one that comes from a house with smokers and none of us smoke. So I don't consider washing the walls, couch covers, and deep vacuuming to be a weekly thing. And no one told us that these things needed to be done at the specifications she wanted.

So how... was I supposed to know that this needed to be done? And I think it wears on B a lot, too. Because they're autistic, and they don't really pick up on context and they don't really catch social cues and A is from a very... Southern-style upbringing where you don't ask things, you imply that you want them.

And that does not WORK in a house full of autistics. (Personal diagnosis pending, but Girlfriend went to a wedding in my family and... uhh... I trust her judgement when she says my whole family is autistic.)

So we went back and forth with her about what we could do to lighten her load and Girlfriend asked for a list of chores and how often they needed to be done.

It was a... very long list, which included 'organize the garage- pack two boxes a month.' Again- my stuff is what keeps getting shoved in there because it doesn't fit her perfect idea of what a house should look like. So i'm supposed to organize the shit that she shoves around in there. And 'clean the cat tree' which is one of those things where if they were OUR animals we would absolutely be doing this.

Also, why do I need to be organizing the garage? Are we expecting company in there? Is there an inspection I don't know about? Most of the mess in there is unprocessed boxes from amazon and chewy purchases.

But I'm focusing on the wrong thing here.

Remember: the trigger here was that I took a preemptive measure to make sure we weren't hogging a shared item.

I'm getting my ass reamed for being courteous. And the reason she gave was that because I apologized to B instead of A. Because its HER playstation.

The point of this rant other than to blow off some steam is that this particular outburst resembles the one we just had about the car. And in trying to find a common trigger, one of them might be talking to her partner about house matters.

Which I realize is ridiculous. Because how am I supposed to do things like... plan meals and figure out schedules if I can't ask the ONE person in the house that doesn't have a completely open schedule?

I'm trying not to armchair because I'd hate it if I was the shoe was on the other foot. But if I was gonna pick a reason, I'd say it comes down to not feeling like she has total control of the household.

Which is again ridiculous because its four goddamn adults. Adults are gonna make plans without you, and I've been the one in charge of meal planning for the past three years because she dropped the ball on it for three months and I just took charge because someone had to.

But it does make sense that its about control. She does this with B's personal relationships, too. Like anytime B goes to hang out with friends A sulks the whole evening. Like B always extends the offer to her, especially on holiday- like she's been invited to passover every year but she only went once (though... that's religious trauma and she's ... uh... she's got some misconceptions about judaism and has said some.... things that make me wonder if she hasn't quite shaken her mom's antisemitism) But no matter how many times B tries to let her into her social and family circles she refuses and then spends the whole night salty that her partner is out doing something without her.

Sorry, it got away from me again.

But yeah, control. I think the problem is a lack of control. And unfortunately, I don't have a solution to that other than to quit lying to her therapist. (the walls are thin and I can hear everything.)

Anyway, sorry. I finally have like a little bit of freedom to talk about this and its turning into verbal diarrhea.
