Perhaps some sort of TMA flavored/inspired Kanata art? (The Vast jumps to mind first, but I think there's a lot of places you could go- Lonely for his isolated youth or even Extinction with the anxieties about abandoning his post as God bc what if the meteor DOES come back and it WASN'T all just lies????)
Tumblr media
lonely!kanata
kanata is very lonely coded to me! not just bc of how isolated his childhood was but also bc he often feels kinda alienated from others which is a very isolating experience. extinction is also a really good one i never thought about :o i can see the vast but idk how it fits into the overall theme of his character and history other than just the ocean being very vast aligned tho i think the ocean fits into the lonely really well too and is often (less noticeably) used as a theme for the lonely. also MAYBE flesh could be a good alignment bc of the cult's old practice of cannibalism and just the whole story in general ig. i have no idea how the other ryuseitai members would fit into place tho,, or how the cult would be in a tma setting

This is an impulsive draft of a scene I thought up based on @orange-artist‘s Time Travel AU of the Kamaboko Squad… if you read this, know that I love your art and that I genuinely can’t stop thinking about it. Please enjoy the hyper-fixation soup of words that I call my unedited writing!
“Kanata and Kiriya,” Kagaya gasped, his usually gentle and composed features overrun with surprise as he desperately hoped he had not misheard them. “How… how many of the children did you say survived this year’s Final Selection?”
“Of the thirty-three test takers, thirty-three have passed and will continue to serve the Demon Slayer Corps,” Kanata replied dutifully.
“Of those thirty-three,” Kiriya continued after, already anticipating their father’s next question. “Five were noted to be especially skilled.”
“The independent swordsman who developed his own breathing style, Hashibira Inosuke.”
“The independent swordsman who does not use a breathing style, Shinazugawa Genya.”
“The youngest student of the retired Rumbling Pillar Kuwajima Jigoro, Agatsuma Zenitsu.”
“The newest student of the retired Water Pillar Urokodaki Sakonji, Kamado Tanjiro.”
“And the only student of the current Insect Pillar Kocho Shinobu, Tsuyuri Kanao.”
Kiriya gave their father a moment to commit the different names to memory before concluding, “the remaining twenty-eight state one or more of these five had saved their lives at least once and stayed close by until they were healthy enough to survive the rest of the week. We saw each of them waiting at the edge of the forest for the rest of the stragglers before passing themselves. Additionally, the Kasugai Crows we sent on a final expedition of the forest afterward reported that only one or two of the demons were left alive.”
Kagaya had believed the Miracle Selection to be a once in a lifetime phenomena — marked by a lonely gravestone in their strange family’s shared cemetery and the memory of a peach colored fox wielding violent waters in defense of its peers.
Unimaginable, and unrepeatable.
He was right, but only because this Miracle Selection was nothing like the first. This one was intentional and decisive and everything that his family made of blood, bone, and steel had been waiting for. The beginning, or perhaps just the first visible omen, of a change in the very course of the world that Kagaya had been unable to foresee until it had already happened. Was it any coincidence that there were thirty-three survivors specifically? That, of those thirty-three, five of them in particular had saved the rest?
The Ubuyashiki were superstitious by nature; marrying their heirs to the daughters of priests and teaching their children to create rings of salt around their beds when they wanted some extra protection at night. The importance of the numbers three and five were not lost on him. With the three sacred treasures and the five directions (the five senses) marking their way, there was no question as to what he must do. Kanata and Kiriya know it too, or they would’ve sent a crow instead of making a personal report.
“Tell our most reliable kasugai to follow the five children you just mentioned,” he ordered Kanata, “they don’t have to be especially quiet… though I would appreciate it if they were undisruptive.”
He could not see her, but he knew that she gave him a solemn bow before turning to leave.
For Kiriya, “I need a missive to be sent to all of the currently active Pillars as well as the retired Rumbling and Water Pillars for a meeting at the northwestern estate three months from now.”
“Understood.”
The tide of change was fast approaching, and he knows that it will spell the end of this centuries long battle against the night. Kibutsuji Muzan will not live to see the next era — that, he promises.
(What he does not know just yet is that his chosen children have already sat on the horizon of a demon free world, and they know that they cannot afford to fail twice. Once was enough.)

i see a looot of kanata on ur page...she must feel so lonely without her chiaki (looks at you with big eyes and waits for u to explain ur chiaki)
Tumblr media
I made this quick little doodle of what i think my fem!chiaki would look like!! maybe her hair is a little too fluffy compared to the original one, but that's what drawing tsumugi aoba's hair for years does to one's brain JKGHDFGJKHDFG I was torn between drawing her with long or short locks, but since most of my hcs for the ryuseitai girlies feature long hair, I think it would be cool if at least one of them had a bold, short cut! So, TA-DAAAAA! That's how short haired fem!chiaki was born ✨✨✨

Together (How clingy are they?):
Hajun Yeon:
This is something he struggled with, seeming at times like he didn’t even care about you being around at all. You weren’t hurt at the concept he wasn’t thinking of you every hour of the day, he was certainly a busy man with revenge and hip hop on the brain, but sometimes it felt like he just didn’t care about you. It’s far from the truth but Hajun finds it hard to formulate the words, his saliva tasted like acid whenever he has to openly admit the importance you hold in his life. It felt like admitting a weakness, like he was only hurting himself in the end by subjecting himself to romance, yet he couldn’t stay away from you. He told you as smoothly as he said all his other flirty lines that he didn’t mind if you wanted to move in, another punch in his gut despite it being something he did want.
Iori Suiseki:
Iori has enough going on at all times that he doesn’t want you involved in that you have a healthy amount of time apart, maybe even too much when he’s busier at the club than normal. It can get a little lonely on both of your sides but Iori’s always willing to work to spend more time together, even if it’s just a few minutes here and there. Getting to see you at all is a breath of fresh air and reminding him that you’re a real, tangible person who’s face he can grab and whose lips he can kiss relieved him of some of his relationship anxiety. He wouldn’t mind spending much more time with you but he is a man who needs his solitude, happy to go on walks by himself or to spend time with Zen or the others while you’re with your own friends.
Kanata Yatonokami:
Not quite as clingy as he was with Nayuta, there are still situations where you might be wishing for a moment alone while Kanata thinks it’s best to stick close. He disliked you walking away from him while you were fighting and even if he agreed to give you a second, he wants to at least know where you’re going in case he has to check up on you. You don’t know why he micromanages when he doesn’t care about your independence any other time but there’s a deep-seated fear within him that whispered in his ear you could disappear just like his brother did once, with a more permanent outcome because he couldn’t get lucky twice. Even when not fighting, he doesn’t get sick of you being around all the time and is perfectly content to spend most hours of the day with you (even while making music as long as you weren’t a complete distraction).
Kenta Mikoshiba:
It partially has to do with being behind bars but he can’t help but communicate with you almost every second of the day, sending messages consistently throughout the day, getting anxious when you don’t reply quick enough. He didn’t think he was clingy but emotionally, he relied on you a great deal to both stroke his ego and soothe the depressing thoughts that he had on occasion. He didn’t want you to be some mindless drone who just tided him over with fake words, but he wanted to know you heard and saw him as he was, willing to support him anyway. Kenta does need to learn some emotional regulation as it can lead to a situation where you feel weighed down by his constant communication but it did mark you as special, since he didn’t reply or bother with anyone like this often (if ever).

summary: the kind of gift(s) you receive from your special someone at Ensemble Square! tags: established relationship, fluff, slightly suggestive at some points, gn!reader - you/your pronouns characters: the main cast, teachers, and anzu! a/n: I wanted to post something for Valentines, so here's a little headcanon sort of thing! If a character's name is in bold+italics that means I just think that's something they'd definitely do. I see other people do it with these types of post so why not :)
Something to Eat
(Purchased) Chocolates
It’s a classic, right? You’re their valentine, so you’re definitely getting Valentine's Day chocolate - there will be no objections! It’s something they picked out with your tastes in mind, even if you’re not the biggest sweets fan, they want to participate in the holiday festivities with you!
Aira | Chiaki | Eichi | HiMERU | Hinata | Hiyori | Hokuto | Izumi | Jin | Kaoru | Kohaku | Mao | Midori | Ritsu | Shinobu | Sora | Tori | Tsukasa
Something Homemade
Chocolate, cookies, maybe even a cake… or are sweets not your thing? No matter what your tastes are, they wanted to make you something with their own hands! While it might not be as tasty as something bought at the store, they wanted you to taste all the love and effort they wanted to put into this little gift for you!
Adonis | Anzu | Hajime | Hinata | Kuro | Madara | Mika | Natsume | Niki | Shu | Tomoya
Something to Wear
Purchased Jewelry/Clothing
It had caught their eye in the store window one day… and that night, they just couldn’t get it out of their mind. The way the piece would compliment your skin… it was meant to be yours. So they purchased it, made sure to wrap the box with care, so that you knew exactly how much thought went into this gift. The price doesn’t matter - you’re worth whatever it cost, and then some.
Akiomi | Arashi | Eichi | Hiiro | HiMERU | Hiyori | Izumi | Kaoru | Keito | Makoto | Mao | Tetora | Tori | Tsukasa | Yuzuru
Handmade Jewelry/Clothes
It could be a little Kandi Bracelet with beads that match your favorite colors, a knit hat to keep you warm for the rest of the winter, or maybe even an ornate pendant with a tumbled stone picked to specifically match your eyes. No matter what, it was made both with love and you specifically in mind. The joy of gift giving comes from the idea that you’ve gotten a piece of art that exists for no one but you - a little sign of just what you make them feel.
Anzu | Arashi | Hajime | Hokuto | Kuro | Mika | Nazuna | Rinne | Shu | Tomoya | Tsumugi
A Charm
Maybe it’s a bit cheesy, but this isn’t an unexpected gift. You had gotten the initial charm bracelet from them early on in your relationship - each new addition for a milestone or special memory that the two of you have shared. It doesn’t matter if you wear it… the bracelet is like a little memorial to your relationship, a timeline of how the two of you have intertwined together.
Aira | Anzu | Arashi | Hiiro | Hinata | Kanata | Keito | Mayoi | Midori | Natsume | Nazuna | Ritsu | Subaru | Tomoya | Yuzuru
A Piece from Their Own Closet
Is this a lazy, last minutes gift? Oh no, it’s anything but. There’s a sort of satisfaction from seeing you wear something that belonged to them. Maybe they’re a tad possessive, maybe they want you to know that you’re as much a part of their life that they view their own belongings as yours… All they know is that when they see that piece on you, it makes their heart beat a bit faster.
Adonis | Chiaki | Hajime | Hiiro | Izumi | Jin | Jun | Kaoru | Koga | Kuro | Madara | Mao | Mayoi | Mitsuru | Natsume | Rinne | Tetora | Yuta
A Plushie
Purchased
You can’t deny how cute it is… Whenever you’re feeling lonely, be sure to snuggle with your new friend - and imagine your beloved is there with you! Either one of your favorite animals, their pet name for you, or maybe one of your favorite fictional characters… I mean, who wouldn’t love a nui of their oshi, after all?
Akiomi | Aira | Kanata | Leo | Midori | Nazuna | Ritsu | Shinobu | Souma | Tori | Yuta
Won from a Crane Game
It may not be as perfectly tailored to you as something they went out to buy, but… they worked really hard to get you this gift! Taking you out to the arcade, proudly announcing that they won’t stop until that plush is in your arms, where it belongs… plus, you get the fun memory of your little arcade date as a bonus!
Anzu | Chiaki | Hiiro | Hinata | Jun | Kohaku | Makoto | Mitsuru | Natsume | Shinobu | Shu | Sora | Subaru | Tetora
Handmade
Even if it won't be the same quality as the commercial stuff, it's just as sweet! They even included a little embroidery with your initials, so that there's no mistaking that this plush is yours. Every stitch was filled with the love they feel for you - resulting in a plushie that there will never be another one of.
Hajime | Kuro | Mayoi | Mika | Rinne | Shu | Sora | Tori | Tsumugi
An Experience
A Shopping Trip
Giving a gift can be hard… and they’re the type who wants to give you something you’ll 100% want and use… so- they’re taking you out! Maybe it’s to buy an outfit that you get to pick out, or just a whole date where they’re spoiling you with everything you wind up being interested in… either way, they’re going out with you to buy you your gift this year.
Akiomi | Arashi | Chiaki | Eichi | HiMERU | Hiyori | Ibara | Izumi | Keito | Makoto | Mao | Mika | Mitsuru | Nagisa | Rei | Tori | Tsukasa
A Special Dinner
The way to someone’s heart is through their stomach… but why stop at chocolates? Either at your favorite restaurant, the most exclusive place in town, or a personal and private home cooked meal between the two of you… They’re the type who wants to give you something special, a memory to look back on even after Valentine’s Day is over, and maybe the start of a tradition for the two of you.
Adonis | Akiomi | Eichi | Hiyori | Ibara | Izumi | Kaoru | Keito | Leo | Nagisa | Niki | Tatsumi | Tsukasa | Wataru | Yuzuru
A Couple's Class
You're going to try something new together! It could be learning to cook a brand-new dish together, making some sort of pottery, or maybe painting something. Not only do the two of you get to experience something special, but you get to take something with you to remember the special day by.
Anzu | Keito | Kohaku | Madara | Makoto | Mao | Mika | Mitsuru | Nagisa | Natsume | Rei | Rinne | Shu | Sora | Subaru | Tatsumi | Tomoya | Tsumugi | Yuzuru
A Trip to Somewhere Special
From the Art Gallery to the Amusement Park, you're going to be going on a special date at a place that the two of you will love. Looking at jellyfish at the Aquarium, attending the symphony, petting bunnies at the Zoo's petting zoo, or checking out the brand new archeological exhibit at the Museum… no matter what it is, it’s something to make your eyes light up and so they can see that perfect smile of yours.
Chiaki | Kanata | Kaoru | Koga | Leo | Madara | Makoto | Mitsuru | Nagisa | Natsume | Nazuna | Rinne | Shinobu | Souma | Subaru | Tetora | Tomoya | Wataru

bad end alt timeline?? oaugh i love mama and do rlly want him to have a happy ending (honestly anything going well for him would be nice at this point) but im SO curious <3
ohh man. ok. ooookkkkaaaay. so i sort of havent posted details about this one cuz it is A LOT to take in all at once..... and as we all know im a hardcore hurt/no comfort fan which is not everyones cup of tea. but um.... okay. okay. this is going under a readmore cuz itll be a long one
its basically if madaras storyline ended very soon in a worst case scenario. his reason for going on hiatus from mam and disbanding double face is because hes tying up loose ends . he holds being related by blood to too high a status and wasnt able to recognize in time that just because he no longer has a blood family doesnt mean he has no family at all. it becomes too much for him to bear and hes lonely, and cant imagine where hed be in the future. he starts to feel like hes becoming a dead weight for his friends and causing them too much secondhand distress . he thinks it would be better if he ripped the band aid off so to speak, it would hurt for a moment but never again *. he finishes tying up the rest of his loose ends, and commits suicide by jumping into the ocean from a cliff with a lighthouse where he and kanata spent a lot of time as children. (this isnt canon i made it up for impact) he felt it fitting to meet his end where it all began, in the water that acted as his red string of fate, remained a constant in both his best and worst memories, and has long since become a symbol of his grief.
* he is wrong about this.
his grave is on this cliff. kanata visits often to talk to him. kohaku also does. his family did in fact come to the funeral. chiaki feels a little guilty despite knowing it wasnt his fault. its easier with kanata supporting him. madara left a note telling him to take care of kanata. leo locked himself in his room again and would have followed madara if izumi hadnt snapped him out of it. kohaku wears his hair in braids regularly now. no one mentions it or double face. rei is coping well, he recognized the signs and had anticipated this might happen but knew he wouldnt be able to talk madara out of it, so he focused more on making the most of the time they had left together. he seems a little more distant these days though. tsumugi tries not to think about it. sora thinks about it a lot, but the feeling eventually stopped aching and became more of recalling fond memories. keito and mitsuru feel sorry for madara. kuro is still in shock since he had no idea about madaras history, and it probably wont ever fully sink in, which might be for the best.
also as a little bonus , read the lyrics to hey you by pink floyd after you read this post.
so yeah! thats my catharsis fuel. dw im in therapy.

5 for the enstars ask game
ask game
5. what's your favorite headcanon about the character you produce?
I produce too many characters so we are going to do uh. Crazy:B + Mama + Tattsun for this.
Rinne: I think he used to watch 2wink's street performances before he ran away for good/right after he left and recognized them at ES and feels a sense of pride at how much they've grown since then (and also just wants to take care of them which is why he messes with them so much)
Niki: He should have been a guest judge on whatever version of Nailed it or Failed it exists in the ES Verse when they were in America. HiMERU could interpret for him and I just think it would be funny to watch Niki critique beginner/bad bakers at their craft and offer advice to them. Also his iron stomach could potentially be fun for everyone else to watch if someone fucked up real bad.
HiMERU: Did acting in college and was a part of several productions. Some of his old classmates recognize him vaguely but can't put a finger on it when they see CrazyB lives and interviews with him.
Kohaku: His sisters used to braid/style his hair growing up and he always claimed to hate it but he kinda misses it after moving out until Niki starts brushing it for him one day and Kohaku asks if he can try putting it in a small pony tail like Niki's.
Madara: Actually really good at flower arranging. Got into it while he was figuring out what flowers to put in the field for Kanata and wanted to be able to express his feelings to people in a way they probably wouldn't go out of their way to learn because being honest sucks but everyone likes flowers and nobody actually pays that much attention to flower language.
Tatsumi: I cannot for the life of me remember if this is canon or not but to me he watched over the kids and ran Sunday school programs at his parents' church and really enjoyed it. He doesn't have any siblings of his own so his own house was kind of lonely but he enjoyed getting to play with other kids even if it was just once a week.

MY DARLING DOLLS 69
PREVIOUS || PT 12 CH69 || NEXT
-FUTURE PRESENT-
He don't know how long it been since he was stuck in this black and white world without motion.
It's probably days... Or weeks. All he did was look around for a sign of life. Yet he can't find any. Nor sign or anything colorful in this dull world.
He don't see that weirdo again. It's both a blessing and tragic. Because he realize he have nothing to do in this dull world but look around for a sign of life.
"Sometimes I wonder if love can make people go crazy in such level..." The lone human mumbles as he stared at the sleeping Kanata who's hugging a doll that look like you in his arms. It been a long while since he was stuck in this monochromatic world.
He gotten use to walking up to this rooftop but decided that moving back to where jun and Hiyori where is quite troublesome, so he move those two on the rooftop.
He did that to the other crazy b and alkaloid too since they would be more be happy if they wake up beside that Ayase and his big brother.
Through there's one problem with that, he can't find that shiina and Oukawa anywhere at all. It was weird that everyone was present, but those two.
"... My hair gotten longer for some reason." He mumbles as he stared at the reflection of his. It's getting in his view now. He hold his bang and played with it as he look around.
His eyes saw the braided hair of that phantom of opera and thought about it. In the end he decide to tie it with a side braid down the side of his face.
The moment he did that, he felt his whole being pulse and he heard something start to break. "...???? What ? " He looks around and saw no sign where that sound come from.
"I'm becoming crazy..." He mumbles as he eat some fries he gotten from a random store, since all the food will stay good and fresh, he can just eat them.
Somehow those food return back to what it was when he slept for a while.
.
.
.
"Never be a loser~" since he have nothing to do, he decide to sing one of his big brother idol unit song. He did went and grab a unit outfit as well to match, no one will tell him off after all.
"Which One Is Lucky Guy?Make a bet!
The safe is for the swarm of boring bees
A sting on your heart
A pain that numbs
Will it be a mortal wound? Goodness knows!
.
.
.
Crazy Roulette! Spin the roulette!
Feel the buzzy beat that shakes your fate!!!"
He felt himself lost in the song, he don't realize someone is singing along with him. Having his eyes close as he thought of the time where everyone and everything have it's color and moving. He wonder if his a lucky guy in this crazy Roulette thing called destiny or unlucky to be the only one in motion.
"..." He stopped singing as he open his eyes, his vision become blurry as tears fall from his eyes. "Ah.....ahh...." He felt himself in a breaking point. Loneliness... It's too much.
Someone...
Anyone...
"Kanamechii do you need a handkerchief?" His ears almost rang as he heard someone spokes to him. He stared up to the blue eyed friend of his brother and yours. Giving him a handkerchief.
"....Niki?" He mumbles in disbelief. One of the two people he cannot search for appear before him. "Hmm?" Niki realize Kaname won't wipe his tears on his own, he wipe it himself before he help the poor fellow up to his feet. The other who was lonely for a long time, at the sight of a living and breathing friend, he suddenly found himself crying even more.
"Ahhhh... I'm... Imm.... Not .
. Alone..
Anymore....!" He weep like a child as Niki sigh, trying to weep the others tears away. "Shh.. it's ok, it's ok. Everything would be ok soon..." Petting the head of Kaname, Niki start to humm to comfort the fella.
.
.
.
"How come I don't see you for so many days or months even..." Kaname stared at the other as Niki prepared some meals. "Ah? I was travelling the whole country to eat some food! When the times is on pause, everything is free estate!!" Putting some butter in the heated pan, Niki ready his pancake butter mix.
"...oh..." -kana. Knowing Niki, that's probably the truth ' he thought as he take bite of what Niki puts on the table. Which is a warm and delicious pancake!
"Hmm, Through I don't think anyone would be up till Shinkaichi will resolve the issue.." The cook mumbles, thinking how odd it is to see Kaname up.
"... What?" The young tojou stared at him in confusion. "What issues?"
"...well.
the flow of time comes to a stops
thuz, the tales have come to a pause.
Dear little amber wish for it to continue..
But all wish from the mad man comes with a price."
Blue eyes glow in golden for a moment, an image of a clock in those blue eyes appear for a brief moment as the voice of monotone spoke out a riddle like tone.
Kaname nom his food, wondering what's up with this weardo, but then remember everyone around you are bunch of weardo. Like him too! But his a cutie one!
"Oh... That's Seems a fair trade." He thought nothing much of it as Niki chuckle at the other nonchalant. "How come you react quite different from what I expected?"
"In the end, the story would continue." Kaname pointed out. "It's just the part where in is the middle part before the said goal." Nomming his pancake with syrup, he suddenly realize that Niki was able to use the pan and the cooker.
"YOU!!" he pointed at Niki who's cooking the next batch of pancakes for him to eat. "How ... How did you do that?" He pointed at the fire."
"I light it up obviously???" Niki was confuse what's wrong with the youngest tojou. Almost wondering if the little one have gotten some..
Screw lost when he was alone.
"..." Kaname went to the ref and realize he still cannot access it. He went to the blender and he still can't press and make it work.
"What do you want from the fridge?" He watch Niki open the fridge without a problem and gets some milk to drink.
"......... Ah. Himeru is quite smart!" He suddenly thought of very smart plan. He chuckle in Trump, almost making Niki worry again of what he will tell meru about his 'insane' brother when he wakes up.
.
.
.
.
- PAST PRESENT-
"... What's 6 + 9?" You heard Kuma the cat starts, you give him a stare for a moment.
"obviously it's 15—" shu rolled his eyes as he heard the question.
"wrong!!!" You and grey cat pointed out. "It's 69!!" You both said unison. "Aiyo? Omg... Are you my soul mate?" Your eyes sparkle at the grey cat who purrs in your hand as you tickle his belly.
"Nyoooo... I'm ur legally wedded chief for life silly!" He pointed out.
"... Not only your a fluffy grey ball of fluffy thing, you can also cook?! What a deal!" You give kisses to the fluff ball while shu who have gaze that said: fucking idiots.
Turning away that said: I don't fucking knows that idiot(dm)
In the black car corner who yawns after getting the attention of those two was flicked by Kanata. "Little kitty, don't break the forth wall ok?" The dragon kin whisper to the cat.
"the other options is to make some unfortunate soul kiss that silly dollmaker." The black cat rolled his red eyes. He give a side eyes to the dragon kin. "You, that phantom nor that pinky or at least anyone here is a good choice by any means.... Well except for that Tojo kid." Licking his paws he stared at the green eyes of the dragon, not daring to look away to see what he will react.
"... What about you then?"
"... That's too over kill~ after all~ at least what made them who they are, 3/4 of them favors and loves me <3 than any of you :3" he then wink at me.
Breaking the forth wall for the second time today.
"hmm... " Wisteria thought about it, he suddenly transform back to his doll self and went toward you.
"Aimcee... Oh... NOOOOO... I need... Kisses.... ::(" he weep in front of you. As if saying he needs love to get back to his human form. His not lying anyway but Kuma give him a bombastic side eyes as you scoop him up and give him kisses and Niki give Kuma look with a sigh.
"okii!!" As if forgetting he have wrong you before as you see his very cute doll form, all have been forgiven. You give him kisses.
"Me too! Me too!" The pink cat who awaken from all the noises scream out in his very small 15cm form, meowing and meowing. "Okii!!" You give kisses to the pink cat too.

Dude did you know/read -2+2 before i started interacting with your posts here or did you heard of it from seing me ramble about it? Also PLEASE get your work done first! This chapter is enormous and i wouldn't want it to ruin someone's schedule.
Also I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, not necessarily just the trial it could be of the story in general, if you feel like rambling that is ^^'
Don't worry, I spent my entire morning finishing my textbook chapter and completing a video question that I could finish in like, five minutes tops. I even shut off Discord to focus. It took four hours of my day to complete cause that's college for ya, haha. :']
Yeah, I read -2+2 before we ever interacted on Tumblr! Ngl, I didn't realize the author was you until I scrolled through your Kizuna tag on your blog and went, "hey, wait a minute, I read this fic-!" As for my thoughts on it so far, I loooove it! I love how Kizuna is forced to face the consequences of her actions while Ayame is grappling with the fact that she was this close to choosing to kill someone to save another and that her motivations weren't as pure and good that everyone makes it out to be for saving Kizuna. I love seeing how different the group dynamics have become thanks to how everyone is split up: the majority of the students sticking together, Yuki being forced out of that group due to his secret note but ultimately forming a little trio with Akane and Ayame (and I think Kizuna and Kanata, too, but they're more focused on each other atm when it comes to her recovery), and the lone wolves of Rei, Tsurugi, and Kinji. It really shows how fractured the group has become and that everyone's opinions are pretty complex and different from each other's, even when they stick to one side. I have yet to read the trial as of writing this, but Kanata's death hurts to witness, especially with how...simple it was. I believe she didn't even struggle, she was just sleeping and now, she can never wake up because someone (Kinji) took advantage of that vulnerability and killed her. I'm thinking that Kakeru, at some point, seemed to have walked in and saw what happened, whether it's his attack on Kizuna or Kanata, and tried to attack Kinji or stop him or something but I'm not sure. But her death definitely hits harder due to how simple it is and we can focus on the tragedy that Kizuna will never be able to fulfill the promises she gave to Kanata, her first friend. And how her grief quickly transforms into anger...ooooough, that's so good and in character for her, especially with how hard she's trying to improve herself now. Also, can I just say, I love how socially smart Kizuna is with her words and how she was able to bypass the third motive just by being clever with how she says things. There are many different ways for being intelligence, so seeing that play out with a character that is trying to redeem themselves is great. Ayame is also just...doing her best while grappling with herself and the thought of almost actually murdering someone, but is trying to be supportive of the others. At least being able to confide in Akane allows her to keep going, and she gets to befriend Yuki! It's so sweet...until you remember the twists with these two, haha, gotta love that dramatic irony. Oh, if (or when) we actually get there, that angst is going to huuurt. </3
Anyways, I do love rambling. And I love this fic! (Totally off-topic, but I hope my boy Teruya is gonna be okay from the whole near death experience of guns and stuff. He's gonna be okay, right? Right? I hope he's okay. I don't want anything bad to happen to him even though I know that's gonna be impossible in a killing game genre although I know his survival is pretty much guaranteed since you mentioned that you don't plan to change the death order. Doesn't mean I don't worry for his mental health though.)

Whenever i reread a bit of an enstars story that mentions how lonely and alienating being a solo super idol at the top was (and how things are surely changing for idols now through the unit system) i look back at war era yumenosaki and i really cant hate the student council for setting up and taking down the 5 eccentrics. A plan with many shortcomings that ultimately was for the best, as they envisioned, no matter how much eichi mightve regretted his actions in the moment or afterwards.
Through stripping them of godhood (which too was placed upon them before by people, these characters were never actually gods nor monsters), "falling" or being freed to become humans and to form human connections with their units was the happiest outcome. Of course there was a lot of external help to move on from the war, receiving support from people who believe in you and becoming stronger together is also a part of being human. For rei and kanata it's obvious, the godhood was literal and eating them away. Wataru who decided he wants a more satisfying ending for more people, and joined eichi in writing the sequel, finding a unit he can now be comfortable with (the lunch scene in Atlantis is one of my favorite fine moments). Shu whose fall eventually led to the shift from doll to human treatment of their unitmates, a complete reassessment of his worldview and order (even if the doll treatment was done out of a desire to protect and preserve these unitmates, it was undeniably hurting everyone involved). And natsume...for natsume getting to be in the 5 eccentrics, to know unexpected friendship, to find the things he wants to protect and goals to work towards, to not want the past to be forgotten, to "switch" the pain and grief into happiness... natsume didnt experience the same loneliness of a genius idol the other eccentrics knew because of their presence, he got to live out his highschool years surrounded by warmth and humanity at first from the oddballs, a chance of fate perhaps, and then from switch, a conscious decision.

It was always just you and your mother.
That ended when you both suddenly moved far off from your hometown without so much as a word to anyone. Your mother swore up and down this would be the last time this would happen, that where you were going was a perfect paradise for the two of you to stay from now on.
And then, you were surrounded by too many people all at once when you had finally arrived; people clad in strange robes and wearing odd expressions. After a discussions between your mother and one of them, she was led away while you were held back from following after her by a gentle-looking woman who smiled at you far too falsely to soothe your cries and wails.
Upon entering this place grander than any house you had ever lived in, she was assigned as your guide.
From then on, Lorie never seemed to want to let you see your mother anymore after entering, always ushering you off to the morning sessions or to complete your daily chores when you were idle enough to request such things like visits or ask when you’d see her again.
You complied with her demands even if you wondered what she was doing without you around; you hoped she wasn’t lonely at least.
But as a child, you could only do what these people told you to. You were given to eat along with the other children your age after your prayers had been said, and it was never freezing inside nor did you have to be ready to leave at a moments notice during the night, so you didn’t mind it as much as you should have.
You figured you were happier here; warm with a full belly and more playmates than you knew what to do with.
Sometimes after supper had been served and devoured, your guide would come and tell you the stories of the god that came from the depths of the sea; how you were all here to protect him as the ones before him protected all of you in return, saving the people on this land devoted to him.
Just as the previous god did, and the one before, and so forth.
And so would the next.
“But… where is he?” You asked her one day, clutching onto her robes with curiosity glimmering in your eyes.
“If you offer your heart and your utmost care to him, he’ll be there for you when you need him most.”
… A pause.
“But if you’re lucky…” She paused for effect, a hopeful expression suddenly crossing her face. “—perhaps he will call on you for your help one day.” She patiently smoothed over the crinkled fabric when your hands ceased their grip; her smile as present as ever.
“And only then will you meet him. Do your best, okay?”
You nodded your head to her words, and she chided you to return to the devotees quarters along with the other children, figuring she had kept you from sleep long enough for tonight.
You bid her goodbye with a smile, and run off, much to her displeasure. You’d surely trip one of these days, maybe then you’d learn to listen to her warnings.
It wasn’t until some years had passed that you met that god she spoke of.
Your guide seemed overjoyed at the summons, all-too-eager to tug you away from your beloved companions and lower herself to your eye-level, speaking in a frenzied voice.
“You must be on your best behavior. He’s just your age, so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting along, just as you do with the others. Mind your tongue and stand up straight.” She continued to fuss over you, fixing your hair as quickly as she could while she lectured.
Knitting your brows together, you didn’t have a chance to clarify exactly who she meant, before two figures approached the both of you silently. Only then did it click that something was off, summons were never really good.
“They’re the best pick, I swear on it. They’re just what you’re looking for, can’t you tell? You won’t regret this.” She chattered away, but they didn’t seem to be listening to her words, instead starting to walk after glancing at you and giving you a curt nod.
She gave you a light push in their direction and you followed reluctantly after them, looking back at Lorie until you went down halls that stretched and twisted too far for you to see her outline as you walked with the two unfamiliar figures. You couldn’t tell their features due to the hoods obscuring their faces, which only proved to add to your nerves in flames.
They wore slightly different garments than all the guides you’d seen. The embroidery was far more symbolic and detailed, nothing you recognized at all, so you’d have to ask Lorie why that was once you returned. Swallowing down your questions at hand as best you could, you continued on.
Stairs leading downwards revealed an entirely different area in the foundation you had lived the past few years, and you soon reached a hall at the very far side of it.
The two had come to a halt before two large sleek doors, and you marveled at their size; golden carved handles placed in the middle and engravings splayed all over the wood surrounding them. Nothing like the simple ones up stairs, you noted. One pried them open, while the other motioned for you to go in and held the door open. Upon you entering, they took post and gave you a watchful stare as you turned your back on them.
Immediately you were greeted by large bamboo blinds obstructing your view of the middle of the room; a shadow of someone jolting up from what had to be a raised platform, their head previously turned had snapped around to stare straight ahead as if they could see through the blinds, peeking through the thin cracks.
The intensity of the stare made the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, goosebumps rising on your arms as you threw a nervous look back at the two guards…? behind you.
“Open them.” The person behind the blinds spoke with a firm tone, but it didn’t seem directed at you, and someone stepped forward to part the blinds in half. Once seperated, you were able to finally see whom you had been taken here to meet.
On a cushioned platform raised to the height of your chest, stairs curled around it, laid a half-sitting up boy with long, vibrant blue hair. His green eyes bored into yours without relent, and filled you with an emotion you couldn’t quite identify aside from fear. The pit in your stomach grew, feeling put off by the large lavish room yet void of any other people aside from you, the strange boy, and the figures that had accompanied her you.
He raised a hand that beckoned you closer and you approached the stairs hesitantly, before he began to scramble towards you to meet you halfway; and only then did you realize the boy had been slightly shaking.
Not with fear, but… desperation. You could recognize it now, after spending your time in this religion; you had seen some often reflect his current state of being without being given guidance.
“What is your wish? What do you wish for?”
You froze.
“Tell me! What is it you want?” The boy repeated, his gaze remaining unchanged, and you got the feeling he was analyzing you for something you weren’t sure of. Your hand moved to grip at your light garbs, all the other children your age wore them, aside from the boy in front of you. Dressed ornately and more elaborate than anyone else you had seen in the institution, you got the feeling he resembled the portraits of the current god far too much for it to be a coincidence.
His hands dropped down to ball into small fists, knuckles turning white, the tense demeanor only served to further scare you; and you hurried to blurt something out.
“M-…Mother? I want my mother, to see her. That’s… That’s my wish.”
At your words, he shifted all of his attention to the remaining guard standing post. You weren’t even sure if he heard you, but the guard wasted no time at all to exit hasilty but not without direction. He remained taut like an arrow even afterwards, but he addressed you once more after the doors slammed shut resoundingly behind the guard.
“The devotee shall attain what is sought.”
It sounded as if it had been recited countless times before, but it made you feel a bit nauseous nonetheless. You asked for your mother, but you hadn’t seen her in so long, something felt odd. It was the only thing you could think of, suddenly face-to-face with the being that could pass judgement on you, or retribution on those that threatened the peace of those residing in the foundation.
Under his level gaze, you wringed your hands silently, not knowing what else to do.
You were only snapped out of your thoughts by the approaching footsteps of two people.
Your mother stared at the ground as she walked alongside the guard, wringing her hands just like you with a blank expression. The guard halted, and she raised her gaze upwards, settling on you both.
“Mom?” You climbed off the steps all too quickly, away from your god, carelessly made your way towards her with bubbling excitement and blind rushes of bursting happiness.
“Mom!” You immediately wrapped your arms against her upon nearing the two, pulling her into as tight of a hug you could manage. You weren’t sure what you had been so worried about earlier anymore, you couldn’t help the smile that bloomed over your face. She looked differently now, she had let her hair grow past her shoulders instead of cutting it like usual with dull scissors to avoid having it pulled; despite her nervousness, you thought she seemed less stressed than the last time you’d see her.
You felt so strongly such joy, your previously suppressed longing resurfaced suddenly, so strongly and threatened to overwhelm you as you were; you practically buzzed with content as you relished the feeling of holding your mother once more, her child could hardly contain their happiness much longer.
Yet, she never embraced you back.
She stood too still for you not to notice the lack of reciprocation after your head cleared, and you tilted your head up curiously to look at her once again, still caught up in your joy albeit calmer.
She stared at you right back with a sense of mute horror, and panic began to fill her widened eyes.
Your mother closed her eyes tightly for a moment, as if trying to endure the moment for just a little more, before she couldn’t take it anymore and shoved you off of her with a quick push. It was too rough for you to maintain your balence, and you fell backwards onto the smooth floor; letting out a pained grunt. The guards didn’t move an inch, but gave eachother a silent, knowing look.
She took two steps away from you, eyes trained on your fallen figure as she made no attempt to help you up.
Despite this, you ignored the stinging in your palms and reached your hands out to her again.
“Why…” She began, more steps away from you crumpled on the ground.
“Why did you call for me?”
Silence.
After a long beat,
“You look more and more like him—!”
You blinked. And furrowed your brows, trying to understand what you had done wrong. What happened? What was going on?
At your lack of response and her growing anger, your mother suddenly scowled and raised a hand upwards as if to strike you, and fear suddenly upsurged you once more. But before any painful contact could be made, she was suddenly restrained by the two guards; she struggled as best she could, her eyes not leaving you, as they began to drag her out of the room and down the halls. She yelled various things you couldn’t hear that well through the guard’s hand muffling it, but the tone was clearly soaked in resentment.
The doors slamming shut once again did little to reach you.
A lone trembling child remained on the floor, not any older than the one on the platform.
Tears began to slowly seep from your eyes quietly, trailing down your cheeks without end. And before you knew it, you began letting out small little sniffles that grew into choked off breaths, before you were fully sobbing by the end of it. The pain of your mother’s forced return stung your heart far too deep for you to remain composed, something you were always better at than the other children.
The boy’s clothes rustled as he pushed himself closed to the edge of his platform, but never stepping off it; his legs dangled over the edge and peeled out from plunder his long clothes, a red ribbon binding them together way past his ankles, like a mermaid’s tail. Not seeming to understand how things had gotten out of hand so quickly. Not seeming to understand why you were suddenly in pain, after he had granted your wish, puzzled by your sadness. A beat passed, before his trembling returned worse than before.
Panic was clear on his face, but you remained caught up in your grief until that fist came down onto the edge suddenly, snapping you out of your daze briefly with the loud bang. He beckoned for you to come closer once he had your attention on him, unmoving on his platform.
Your tear-filled eyes were roughly wiped by your still stinging palm, but you raised your head to nod. With unsteady legs, you pushed yourself back up and towards the set of stairs in front of him. At this, he pushed himself backwards into the cushions he had originally been resting on, sitting up to face you with his bound legs folded beside him.
Unsure of what to do, you took a seat in front of him. Heart still hurt, you only hated the fact you couldn’t run to Lorie right now.
You didn’t even know why you were away from her, you suddenly felt as lost as when you first arrived, just as helpless as back then.
Your god seemed extremely out of his element when faced with you in such close proximity, arms far too stiff and bent squarely to be useful in wrapping around you with an actual hug, but his limbs mimicked what he had seen you do to your mother; recalling how joyous you had been while performing the strange act. Without any understanding, he attempted to replicate the motion in order to hopefully pry that same emotion out of you once more.
“It is ‘okay’… No more…”
An unsure voice, but a clear attempt at consoling you.
That was all it took for you to crack again, far too sensitive to keep yourself somewhat calmed. With watery eyes, you held onto him tightly and crushingly, bawling loud and wounded cries until you could no longer find the tears to. His clothes had been long soaked by then, but he didn’t notice, or didn’t care enough to stop you.
When your fit had finally subsided, you found yourself feeling a bit better and… warm.
You couldn’t remember the last time you had cried so strongly, usually Lorie was adept at handling you before it could take a turn for the worst like just then. Letting go of ‘Kanata’, as you’d seen written and spoken various times by those higher in power than Lorie, always in deep and strict respect; you avoided looking at his face directly, only out of the corner of your eye. You couldn’t bare to see if he had the same expression your mother had.
“I’m sorry… A-And… Thank you.”
Shame suddenly overcame you, and you scooted backwards to put some inches of distance between you two.
He seemed dazed upon separation, not having moved as best he could during your breakdown. A small, faint smile appeared over his face for a reason he didn’t dwell on. Although he had never been embraced so, the warmth remained as if to taunt him that it had left his reach, but he managed to control his urges to repeat the action to squeeze more of it. The feeling ghosted over his body despite this.
Kanata had asked the two high-ranking officials for someone he could help after a string of failures, pleading for someone to grant a wish for, and they had obliged with uncertainty if it would worsen his condition or improve it.
If only to soothe his torment over failing to cure one of the children, and end his hysterics, lest they need to seclude him for a while in the empty water tank. A wish so sincerely given to him, becoming soured with his inexperience, had proved enough to warrant his desperate request.
Now in his reach was someone he could help, someone he had already helped now after his blunder. This new experience cemented his position as a capable god once more in his mind after being shaken so disastrously, finally able to breathe without tight panic gripping at him. One failure had managed to uproot him entirely, and left him unable to cope as a young god.
As you gave him a wobbly smile, drying tears still staining your cheeks, you kneeled down in front of him with your head lowered to the floor just as your guide had taught you repeatedly without fail, the very picture of sincere gratitude.
You were both alone in the room, but you sensed none of the hysteria he was nearly thrown into from him now.
He paid no mind to the doors reopening, unblinking eyes remaining fixed on you.
“Devotee, your time has ended.” announced one of the guards, while the other furrowed his brow at you positioned closely in front of the deity.
“Escort them to the quarters. If you’re needed again, you will be informed through your guide. Pay your respects accordingly and you’ll return in time.” The first one acted on the others orders and approached to seemingly drag you off the platform, but a raised palm from the silent Kanata stopped him in his tracks immediately.
You nodded in understanding and faced Kanata once again, bowing deeply before following the guard out into the hallway; escaping his burning stare. He watched you as you retreated, until you fell outside of his sight completely. The remaining official repeated your last actions before excusing himself, leaving Kanata in the room alone to himself.
His hand reached up to clutch at his face shakily, far too much on his mind now, yet thrumming beneath the surface of it all was the sense of pure satisfaction, undeniable and certain contentment. Frantic nearly-incomprehensible mumbles spilled from his lips, shaky words of a barely-used voice.
He would have to issue new orders soon. This would not be the last time you meet, if only to stabilize himself more. He didn’t understand why he felt so strongly that you both could not part ways, but he didn’t dare to question it. He would do better now, he was sure of it.
It had to be, he thought as he looked down at his trembling hand and hardened his determination.
If this was your effect, you would need to visit him again soon. Perhaps as soon as possible in time for the next ceremony with the purple-haired boys family.
Kanata had wished for someone he could help. And in return, he was granted you.

Every time I try, my sister’s face keeps coming to my mind.
…I keep wondering if she was a happy bride. Maybe she didn’t want to get married at all. All these thoughts keep coming in my head…
I know this sounds like an excuse, but the moment I heard about her Omiai [1], I kept fooling around and sleeping it off in class. It just made me feel better.
