Alright. I assume it’s been long enough I can post… well it’s a big Pluto spoiler so scroll now if you care. I’ll do the stars- ** ** ** ** **

Best and most tragic part of Pluto is Gesicht revelation that he had a (robot) daughter who was horrible murdered -and later all memory of her was erased, except it couldn’t take. Part of him wouldn’t forget! Which you’ve possibly figured out when it’s revealed. But what really got me was it wasn’t like, normal adoption. No! He found her in the actual trash. In the garbage dump! All broken and he immediately fell in love with his new child and presumably takes her home where he and his wife repair her and name her Robita. Like. The levels of wholesomeness in all that. And the “we (androids) have found our beautiful robot daughter (child sized bipedal wall-e) and she’s just (re?)learned to walk and talk. We shall call her Robita!” What?! What do you mean she was murdered, and it’s already done and in the past?! What do you mean it’s even more tragic yet beautiful and resonates perfect with the theme. And the child was named Robita?!! What?!!

I loved it so much. Idc if she’s probably a preexisting character. Just another testament to a masterclass on taking a lighter hearted old comic/manga and making it more serious without becoming too edgy and loosing its heart.

I mean. Her name was Robita! And she was adorable.

And then Gesicht gets murdered. By the same model. As he is having this twisted beautiful tragic traumatic flashback! And somehow the balance keeps if just on the right side of edgy and heartfelt. Just a masterclass in emotional storytelling.

also. They just give this child a gender. I didn’t know until they named her. Like there’s no… she’s a robot. I love the robots having gender just because. Look, she’s wearing an apron! Woman! Look he’s got a hat! Man! I love it. I got maybe one or two notes but I can work with that.

she's canonically older in the last pic than in the others. in the show they made her consistantly look like a larger version of her movie appearance cub form.

if her cub form was dolled up with hairspray for some fucking reason.

i know this isnt "just the style" because we have smoke-demon-scar looking more or less the same.. for a cluster of smoke. like in the sense that they didnt give him a fucking nosejob. for some reason. why give one and not the other a nose job if its an artstyle thing?

i get that they wanted to "make her design more consistant" since her cub form looked noticeably different but that's the thing. people change as they grow up, and even if we ignore the blatant nose job (???) she had her fuzzball volume throughout the entire show, she's an outlander. they're canonically underfed, "we have no food little water" even if she got more rations due to her place in the outlanders pride she wouldve been less fed than kovu, who they were obviously putting the most resources into making strong. you know. to eventually have him kill simba. she would have thinner fur as a result, even as a cub in the movie her fur quality was still clearly less fluffy and full than this adult version of her in the show. the entire point of why she (spoilers) got to get the roar and become leader of the lion guard is because she was willing to fight kion, even though she'd have lost since she had no The Roar tm op-cheat-code like kion did. so her being a fighter despite being malnourished wouldnt have gone against the show even, much less the movie.

i honestly partially blame the fans. some of them anyways. there was a sub-sect from the beginning that always made fanart of her in a dolled up cubbish looking "redesign" because heaven forbid an adult looks different from what they did as a cub/child. heaven forbid that adult be a good guy and not be conventionally attractive. Nevermind the people who grow up not being able to look in the mirror because a physical trait or even a large portion of their face looks like their abusive parent. WOULDNT WANT TO STAY TRUE TO THE MOVIES PREMISES OF: LOOKING LIKE AN EVIL PERSON DOESNT MAKE YOU EVIL

i was originally going to put a side by side picture of a celebrity as a kid and as an adult to show that people dont look like children when they grow up, they look different after puberty, but honestly that felt kinda scummy since child stars often get compared to when they were kids, often in a demeaning way and i feel like maybe theres possibly something to be said about that in relation to whats going on with vitani but at the same time.. i dunno, still seems scummy

it's not the end of the world obviously there are worse things, it just rubs me the wrong, pet peeve, kinda way. like maybe they wanted vitani to be pretty to appeal to kids, but, she was already appealing to me as a kid, i dont think it was from sexist intentions specifically, they clearly wanted to use her to teach kids that girls can be strong too, like a 90's girls can do everything boys can do in heels sort of pop feminism. i get it. but i think people in general just have this weird need to make good characters "pretty" and bad characters like villains "ugly". i take issue with that specifically. because it's fucking weird. her character design was already good. in the first pic you wouldnt guess her to be evil, but she can easily fill that role and look intimidating. like her character's essence. they didnt need to revamp her. lookit that smile, she's a fucking delight, lookit the sinister grin that takes place in the exact same scene, she's a menace. she fills both rolls of her character well visually aaaa.

Expanding on my bpd green and avoidant red. I think green swings between horrific guilt for being mean to red when they were young and wanting to make it up to him (red has already forgiven him but green is still worried that he might change his mind) VS reds avoidant behavior confusing and irritating green bc he's trying to be honest and vulnerable but red is Not. (green later feels guilty for even being irritated with red at all.)

Red genuinely listens to what green is saying and nods in understanding, but is Not sure how to comfort green beyond being very direct and matter of fact: "I'm not going to leave." "No I'm not upset with you." Which. Like true and Red is being Honest however it comes off sounding a bit...cold? Distant?

Like red is just stating facts without actually opening up in detail about how things/their past makes him feel. Like it's "I'm not upset about that" and nothing about how it made him feel at the time, or his thought process about why he isn't upset anymore or if he ever was, or anything like that.

It lacks the true vulnerability and emotional labour that comes with actually talking through uncomfortable or serious things with someone important to you, instead of talking about things as if you're an outside observer. From greens pov red is closed off and it makes his insecurities and frustrations worse when red doesn't respond the way green wants/needs him to.

Their conflicting attachment styles and approach to discussing/processing difficult topics causes a lot of tension for awhile after their reunion. Idk if they'd be dating yet but if not it might also drive green insane that he Likes red but feels like red must not feel the same bc of how "closed off and distant" he is.

Then he feels guilty for being upset at that because "of course he wouldn't like someone who bullied him as a kid/whatever else green is insecure about" Meanwhile green is one of like 3 people red would willingly talk to and he likes green very very much. Always has and always will. To him it seems kind of obvious so he doesn't need to say it out loud (green is absolutely dying at the lack of assurance of mutual feelings platonic or not).

Reds truly not inconsiderate or being distant intentionally. Hes just srsly totally inexperienced with externalizing how he feels instead of internalizing it and ignoring it in favour of more important things (anything other than his own feelings)

It's seriously emotionally draining for both of them to have completely clashing approaches to Whatever they have going on. It's okay though. They figure it out eventually though. Green learning that red really means what he says, there isn't a hidden meaning or fine print that would make red change his mind/secretly be lying. And red learns that green/people who care about him really genuinly want to know how he feels and that he doesn't need to be 100% self reliant when there's people who Want to support him and desperately want him to be more open and be more outspoken with how he feels/his opinions/etc.

Side effect is red goes from refusing to voice a single thought to being more outspoken than predicted and very bluntly voicing(signing) how he feels. Which is usually "I want to leave." "This is boring" "that guy is annoying" "he has no idea what he's talking about. It's more like [insert random fact about pokemon behavior.]"

Green is thankful red is more outspoken but also very thankful that most people don't know the hater ass stuff red is saying to him via sign language. Red isnt actually a hater of course he just still doesn't mince his words and to it very literally when green asked him to tell him what he's thinking more often. Its okay green finds it charming.

I was worldbuilding two bog standard fantasy species, wise old tree dudes and impulsive little rat guys, when I realized it was far funnier if they had each other's personalities.

The rat guys think fast and talk fast, but they're incredibly conservative and like to cover all the angles before they take any action. This comes with being a prey species: their ancestral environment had lots of clever traps and devious hazards, so you get rat councils wisely working the problem.

The tree dudes speak and move slowly, but they will propose and then do the most insane things you can imagine. They can slot together a rocket in an afternoon and will then use it without so much as a test fire first. They test new potions by quaffing them down, sometimes not even waiting for it to cool (though they're tree dudes, so I guess quaffing a potion just means pouring it over their root legs). This comes from the ancestral selection process too: the tree dudes that won were the ones that took big risks, that grew faster, stronger, and tried new things without worrying about consequences. The tree dudes evolved in an era when they had no natural predators and their only competition was each other.

And this is, of course, initially confusing for any human who makes contact with them. If a giant bearded tree nods at you solemnly and tells you to go through a portal, your first thought is not that he's curious about what will happen to spacetime. And if a hyperactive little rat guy tells you with some urgency that you must accompany him into a ruined city, you won't immediately think that this is step 11 of his branching 27 step plan.

Omg so like 12 years (?) ago I had a friend who was 16 and having The Worst time at home, like just an absolutely atrocious time with a REALLY. REALLY badly abusive parent, and was very suicidal and talking about running away. And I was like, in my Harm Reduction brain, well how can I help this friend get out of their home life at least for a little while in the least dangerous way possible. So I was doing some googling and calling of like, runsway/youth centers near me and such and investigating the legality of "harboring a runaway" on a state by state basis (these were parents who VERY much would have pressed charges) and so on.

So I found out like, it's really dangerous for runaways and unfortunately it looks like without parental permission or legal emancipation I can't let you crash here etc. But winter break was coming up for them and so I was like, well, would you parents let you visit me and my dad for a week or two just to get you out of the house and give you a break. So we had their parents call and talk to my parents and determine that we were all above board and such, and the friend came to stay with us and it was really nice! And good. And they did go back and somehow made it thru and we are still friends and now they are in grad school and wow time flies. Anyway. FRIENDS

I just found out that this friends abusive mom STILL HATES ME for having had the opinion at the time that my friend needed a break from their home life

And I have ADDITIONALLY BEEN TOLD

That this friends mom said "the jews stole my daughter from me" bc this friend has, in the last decade, come out as trans and converted to judaism

I wish my dad was alive so I could tell him this and we could make ourselves some medals to wear about it.

I’m deeply in love with your artstyle! What do you headcanon for the Naruto characters appearances and how did you come to that?

thank you!! assuming you mean facial features + body types and the like, it's honestly a very "vibes"-based approach AKSDMKM i wrote down a feeew of my thoughts in [ this post ] (which i doodled as i was still not done watching naruto LMAO) but it's mostly about like.. picking aspects of the character that jump out to me and thinking about how to incorporate that in my interpretation of them, a lot of the time it's their eyes (for example i Adore itachi's stupid prettyboy eyelashes so i knew i wanted to draw those) but it could be just about anything; some examples of my beloved Guys:

with itachi i wanted a 'ghostly' kind of look to him because he is very aloof and distant, i also like having him be Long and Bony for a lack of a better word for the same reason?

with sasuke i wanted a very sweet and earnest "trying to look tough but failing because he's a little guy" vibe, mostly because those are the thoughts that were going thru my brain in any given sasuke scene in our naruto watch

for kakashi i needed his prettyboy charms coupled with his depressed everything

etc! it's hard to convey how/why something comes off a certain way, and that's mostly because imo any given appearance can be used to convey any sort of idea depending on execution! it's not Just "round = friendly and triangle = angry" yk you gotta like. flavor it for the lack of a better word

i'll put the rest under a read more so it's not too long ^^

for more general examples here's my kabuto (yeah i'm a kabuto liker. woe.), konan and nagato

kabuto (esp. in shippuden) has sharper features and i also wanted to go with a face type i'm not AS used to drawing for funsies, i also think the Angles contrast well with his (...stupid...) glasses.

kabuto is an adult but he's still very young esp when we first meet him so when drawing his younger self i'd like to put emphasis on that (especially because he presents himself as friendly), thus the slightly rounder features. by contrast in shippuden he's Going Through Some Things so the spikes in his hair are emphasized and he looks a bit more mature

konan for me sticks out as like, "bold"? not aggressive but very intense if that makes any sense, she's a very serious person and you can tell from the moment you see her, nagato ofc has the rinnegan so his eyes have to be the main feature of his face, and similar to itachi he has a thinner body type... what i wanted with him was similarly a very serious person with a lot of edge to his gaze due to his special dojutsu. and finally on a more subjective level i wanted them to look like they match/belong together because i'm very normal about them ♥

i also enjoy conveying character through how hair is maintained, so for nagato he lets his hair grow kind of however it wants to, konan is more meticulous about hers (tho i forgot to draw her bun in that LOL), and kabuto (given when his design transitions to the shorter hair) i very much picture cutting his in a moment of crisis (pictured below. <3)

there's also always like.. the Fullness of the hair if it makes sense, i enjoy drawing 'fluffier' stereotypical anime hairstyles a lot but i also really like having people like itachi with finer hair and such, i also think varying that between characters gives each a more unique charm :)

one should also note that a lot of the times the physical features are only half the impression, the other half is how they carry themselves and body language conscious And subconscious!

i think in general studying from life will never lead you wrong (even if your style isn't 'realistic', like, mine certainly has anime leanings), and being mindful of what kind of choice/feature you give someone and what you think that implies about them is always important :) the characters i draw are all characters i like so i try to let whatever makes me fond about them have an influence ^^

it's a constant learning process imo i personally find that even if i like how i draw faces Now i often find them wonky like, 6 months later? but i take that less to mean that i drew them Bad and more to mean i've improved lol

*I am counting anything that requires you to make a change in your day-to-day life to accommodate it while it heals(stopping sports, avoiding stairs, crutches, ect). ie sprained ankle, torn muscle, cut that requires stitches, broken bones, ect ect
