hi! I was wondering if you knew of somewhere streaming three body with english subs? I just finished the first book, looked at the netflix version, saw they seem to have split wang miao into three americans????? and now I'm scrolling through your three body tag and the chinese show looks incredible but I've never tried to find cdramas online before and don't even know where to start! thank you ☺️
HELLO THIS IS FANTASTIC NEWS TO ME yeah that's why I haven't watched the netflix version yet 😅 apparently they completely removed the cosmic horror element which was, to me, one of the most compelling parts! the tencent version of three body is incredible but unfortunately since it aired a while ago its slightly harder to find for free online now.
It's on YouTube here! https://youtu.be/CzHJK4Qsrow?feature=shared on the MiGu channel, it looks like its been taken off the Tx channel for some reason? Still the same show, still amazing!
You can also get the WeTV app and the episodes are there if you get vip ($5.99 per month, cancellable at any time). These are 4k just in case you want to see Zhang Luyi (Wang Miao)'s face in superimpressive detail lol
I hope you enjoy, please feel free to make posts and @ me i LOOOVEEE three body im always happy to talk about it :3
#three body#the three body problem#three body tx#tx = tencent = 🐧 but i dont usually use emoji slang on Tumblr lol

“a pride month thing” I’m afraid the gamer brain rot is terminal….
”sweet baby inc dude” that’s literally George R R Martin. “they kidnapped Miyazaki” he hired and paid George R R Martin to worldbuild the videogame you’re playing. on purpose
#tbh I always thought the consort terminology was overshot by guys who wanted to believe they were going to fuck ranni anyway but this was#such an insane way to put it LOL#ER was a mistake sisters we needed bloodborne2…this was like FS released a gacha in terms of the gamer guys who it attracted lol#actually I read Tencent got FS stocks and wants to make an ER gacha. hope springs eternal for that Genshin killer they want LOL

just saw a bunch of posts about netflix's "3 body problem" reblogged on my dash, so a friendly reminder that the chinese adaptation, which has entered multiple lists of best c-dramas in 2023, is available for free on youtube with engsub & also on tencent/wetv app (where' i'm currently watching to spite d&d lol).
eta: i probably should have added this a while back; i didn't check the notes until recently. but i have been told by someone in the replies that there are only 2 of 30 episodes available on youtube now. idk when this change happened. as i mentioned above, i watched the drama on my local wetv app for free. however, i'm aware that the app in other countries may have different rules or w/e. so, yeah, please be kindly informed.

xiao zhan - tencent video ruxi interview 3/3 🎤
Q: These characteristics of him will also resonate with you
XZ: I feel like I want to be that kind of person
Q: At what moment do you feel that you have entered the character state of Shiying
XZ: In the first two weeks when I was doing preparation. actually I was in this type of role in the first week, it was quite worth it, and then I would watch the replays and so on, first to find out the problem. Let’s make some adjustments first, and then discuss it with the director, because I prefer a character who drives the rhythm, but for Shiying, he is a listener and he then he will do something.
#i just realized the full version is on tencent video but the rest will be a problem for future me lol#i hope they upload the rest on weibo#xiao zhan#shi ying#shiying#yuguyao#the longest promise#accio victuuri translation

Saw this under the post about Arcane 2 and thought "yeah right what about the WGA strike?"
So here's some reasons why I don't think Arcane 2 will face repercussions from the strikes (these are just hypotheses, clearly I'm not Riot Games so there could be something I'm missing but I thought it was interesting to analyse some facts):
- The writing is already finished. Arcane 2 writing process is probably already finished since the creators and composers were already talking about the soundtrack on X. The various scenes are strictly coordinated with music so I really think that all the episodes scripts are already finished by now.
- It's an animated series. Animation has different guilds and different rules regarding law and workers rights so it might be influenced in a different way compared to some Hollywood movies like Dunes etc. However, recent news suggests that even videogames could be involved in strikes so it is definitely an evolving situation.
- It's a french production. Although Riot Games is based in L.A., Fortiche, the animation studio behind Arcane, is based in Paris. The WGA strikes do not involve European countries so this could be a work around to prevent repercussion.
Also a personal note:
Of course seeing your favourite shows being postponed is terrible and disappointing, but the entertainment business is really going through hell right now especially after COVID and the current economic crisis. I give my full support to everyone who decides to strike and raise their voices against a system that doesn't allow creators to be treated fairly. The same creators that prevented us from losing our mind during lockdowns I would say. Fortiche isn't just "lucky". There are laws in Europe that protect writers and artists and I would like to see the same in America.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

hi kun! have you watched 3 body problem? if you have, what do you think about it? you don't have to answer this if you don't want to. have a very nice day!
hello friend! i honestly don't have the mental strength or energy to go into any details. all i want to say is that regardless if you like netflix's 3 body problem or not, PLEASE GO READ THE NOVELS if you haven't and if you have any long lasting interest in the subject, because this saddens me:
and to the novel fans who mainly watch western media, if you are ever open to try a chinese drama, you are welcome to try tencent's three-body (2023).
someone famous and not chinese also has the same 2 messages as me:
disclaimer: i don't even consider myself a fan of mr. kojima, but i kinda like him because we share similar taste in men lol...i showed his tweet because i want feedback from someone that's not "biased" like me.
Edit: yes, this makes me happy!

MOUSIE! LYF 2 TOMORROW! Are you ready??? I'm not sure I am! 🫣🫣 I'm already nervous tencent is gonna pull the same shit with the first day AI subs like they did with JoL and I'll fall behind! And also just slightly nervous about the plot and story but I'm an angst gremlin so if it hurts, it hurts lol. (Ps. Thank you again for getting me into this brainrot and I am already SO FUCKING EXCITED to read all your commentary and meta! 💛)
My body and brain and soul are READY!!!
I have full faith in this since it was filmed together with s1 and only split into two due to season length regs.
Also, thanks to my drug dealer @aysekira have Xiao Yao’s men:

Do you think they'll get mad over this in Hoyo's new game or am I making a stretch
the one that just came out right? my friend sent me this one earlier today to post here lol I think it’s from some in universe social media
I’m not totally sure but based on the circumstances regarding what they got angry at earlier I don’t think so. in regards to why it happened before, for Genshin Impact, there is a significant amount of these male gacha players (we’ve seen this in china & SK but also to a lesser extent worldwide) who do not like that it’s an extremely successful mixed sex gacha where the male characters are designed to pander to female players. there’s been a lot posted and written on this blog and across the web about how men do not want women playing games and coming into their “playground”- we saw this most explosively in the west during the “gamergate” fiasco. You typically don’t see this happening in all-male gachas like ensemble stars because the game is marketed as “for women” to begin with, male gamers don’t see this as “their territory” that you have intruded on. I’ve seen posts by these men bemoaning the “unsexy” newer female Genshin character designs and saying “what are they doing to our game?” so you see they have this type of attitude. Genshin had a very long stretch of time where only limited male characters were released back to back which I believe ended with the character Lyney being released- this was one of the first Genshin-related Korean incel freakouts that made waves in the west because of how ridiculous it was. they didn’t like that he was sexualized in the same way female characters were sexualized, they didn’t like all the male banners, they thought he looked gay etc.
this is a similar problem they have with a lot of the Honkai Star Rail male character outfits that have boob windows which female characters will typically have, this is a huge point of contention for them, I remember seeing them absolutely seething that the free 5-star from that game was a male with more than the usual amount of skin showing, I think the screenshots might be on this blog somewhere. they have had huge meltdowns about these cleave windows it’s absolutely ridiculous to read. you can scroll earlier in this blog to the post about the “if there’s male characters in the game don’t play” movement to see more about this. The second freak out over Furina’s designer happened only when they found out a Korean woman designed her. The company was further targeted during this time because they did not take down the animations Studio Ppuri had made for them like the little pissant coward company Nexon did.
The new game doesn’t really have the same “baggage” as these other 2 and doesn’t seem to market towards a female audience as much so I don’t expect something like that to blow up, but who knows. these guys are getting bolder, people are getting extremely like idk sports-fan or kpop-fan tier heated over Wuthering Waves/Kuro Games VS Mihoyo for whatever reason, I’ve read some crazy rumors about Tencent…. lol. but that’s my best guess on how to read the situation and the recent history behind some of this

it honestly really upsets me that people act like being gay means you get shot on sight in china when the reality is that its not even ilegal to be gay in china right now. I don't mean this to say that queer people in china do not face any oppression, like conversion therapy is still legal and there's a lot of pressure for people to be straight, but people in the west really act like china is devoid of queer people, meanwhile being queer in china is not really all that different than being queer in a homophobic US state. And this isn't even like some hidden information you have to be chinese to know, i literally found out about it on wikipedia.
Tbh it's more of a culture/societal thing, and doesn't have much to do with the cn government. In China there is no legal penalty of any kind for being lgbt, and the law will not force people to be straight cis. The only thing is gay marriage isn't legal (yet), but aside from that, in terms of the law lgbt people are just like everyone else. Media-wise, so far as I know, the official policy is that official media outlets (such as cctv) are not against lgbt, but will not openly endorse lgbt either. If it's a privately owned media outlet/company, then obviously this does not apply; for example CQL/Untamed was produced by Tencent. For people who still don't know, all shows will need to be approved by government agencies before release, and people can say what they want about shows needing approval (that's another topic), the fact that shows like CQL, MDZS, TGCF, and various other audio dramas exist and we can watch them or listen to them should tell you that no, the cn government is NOT against the existence of lgbt content in popular media. Society-wise there is a lot of pressure against lgbt, however (more pronounced in older generations), but it's already getting better with the younger generations. This is all openly available information so yea, I definitely understand your frustrations. I remember my highschool teacher said "the internet is a great treasure trove of information and people will be better informed because of it", and yet here we are. The reality is that people will only see what they want to see, and that's it. People wanted to see China as "an evil country devoid of personal freedoms" because of propaganda and racism, and so they did, and they will find things to back up their bias, even if those things are blatant lies.
Honestly judging by how things are going in those homophobic US states right now, living in China as a lgbt person might actually be safer lol, since China doesn't have a mainstream religion that is so openly and adamantly anti-lgbt.

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy/The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus/ 黑莲花攻略手册 , 黑蓮花攻略手冊
Episodes: 32
Duration: 45 min.
Original Network: Tencent Video
Country: Chinese
Released: 2024
Spoiler free Review. There is dubbing, but mostly with actor's own voices, for the main. If you're asking about dubbing on Chinese dramas look it up. It is a web drama. As usual, reviewing based off of feels because the plot is listed, how much does it make you think, how much is there brain rot, etc. This is a puff rice cake drama with nuts. That's the flavor. Let me explain this review. So you go in and expect it to be fluffy, and it is, very, very fluffy and then you get this side of sweetness which is like, oh, fluffy and sweet. yawn bored. Fine, but is it going to be saccharine? Am I going to feel like my teeth are rotting and my brain is falling out? But then it hits you with the nuttiness of the drama, consistent jokes and just that little off kilter thing. And then the whole thing balances and you find out that there are a few calories to make you think about this drama. lol If you recognize this from the drama, yep, I decided off of that one. 'cause that's how this drama tastes to me. Overall, it's not heavy, an easier to watch, but it won't rot your brain completely. It'll give you a fast and good laugh.
Acting: I won't lie, the writing of this drama isn't very good at first--it's often a bit tropish, and you're kinda bored, but the actors rescue it with deadpan and other types of dynamic acting. Because Esther Yu and Ryan Ding have acted together before, their dynamic in the drama isn't as cautious as the first time around. Probably the acting will sustain you the most so if you don't like the body of work of these actors, probably not for you.
Visuals and Directing: However, I kinda like the visuals and details of the drama. The lighting choices are sometimes hilariously but subtly done and I like the music cues which line up well with the action and often enhance the laughter. Some episodes are pure laughter, especially later on as it gets more and more ridiculous. I like the light handed directing that gets out of the way of the actors and lets them do their thing, and you get a feeling of trust especially later between the director and the actors. BTW, if you're looking for realistic on costuming, doesn't have it, but I have to remind you, it's a game world and games are notorious for not having accurate costuming.
Music: Not boppers but support everything else well.
Writing: It takes a while for the writing to warm up, and even so, it's not top of the line, but it's better than the average lately for Chinese dramas so I would give it a 7/10? It starts out as a 4 for me and then warms up quickly to a 5-ish then jumps later to a 7 as it finds unique ways of expressing the plotline which isn't purely tropes or they are spins on tropes. BTW, you are warned that this is an extremely slow burn on the romance front, which makes it more enjoyable for me, but probably not for the crowd who want a kiss by episode 6 and expect it to follow the exact rom com beats of qichenzhuanhe.
