Surgery Headcanon

How would my favorite Marvel men react to you having surgery. 

I'm getting my gallbladder taken out in a couple of weeks, it will be my first surgery ever, so this is 100% self-indulgent. That's part of why I've been so absent this year, I've had an organ rebelling.

Doctor Stephen Strange 

Will ask who your doctor is to see if he knows them. If not, he may send a referral to a trusted former colleague on your behalf. He's not letting you under the knife unless he knows you have a good surgeon.

Will tell you how routine the surgery is if you are starting to worry. Almost a bit blasé about your concerns, after all, bedside manner was never his strong suit as a surgeon. Plus, it really is a routine, laparoscopic procedure. Way less intricate & dangerous than neurosurgery.

1000% will try to micromanage everything once you're at the hospital prepping for or immediately out of surgery. He wants to see your chart. He wants to know what your most recent vitals are. Hell, he may have even asked if he can observe the surgery. Partly, it's him being overprotective, partly it's because he misses being a doctor.

Definitely breaking into the doctor's lounge for the good coffee, not the instant crap in the cafeteria.

After you are home, he will be vigilant about making sure you take your pain meds & will check your incisions to make sure everything is healing well. You are in very safe, if slightly neurotic hands.

Secretly, or not so secretly, enjoying getting to play doctor again to take care of you. Looking forward to when you are well enough that you can play doctor and patient the really fun way.

Bucky Barnes 

May actually be a bigger mess than you are. Thanks to Hydra, medical anything makes his anxiety shoot through the roof. Now piled on top of that, he feels out of control & helpless to make you feel better.

Would have to be physically dragged out of your hospital room, so the hospital staff just lets the whole “visitors hours” thing slide.

The second you wake up, he is by your side asking if you need anything. Probably didn't sleep or even sit down the entire time you were in surgery.

If you even make an odd face, he's asking if you are in pain, and he has become a huge pain in the ass for your nurses. 

May have thought about threatening your surgeon about if something went wrong.

Either guard dog mode, or he completely shuts down. There is no in between. 

Afraid he's going to break you while you are recovering. Offers to sleep on the floor or on the couch just in case. Doesn't want to let you out of his sight until you are healed. 

Steve Rogers

Tells you over and over how everything will be okay and that you are in good hands.

May tell you stories about how much hospitals and medical stuff has improved since he was so sick before the serum.

Reads up on your surgery and your doctors. He wants to understand as much as he can about what is going on. He probably has more questions for the doctor than you do.

Puts on a brave face for you but secretly will be a little nervous. He hates seeing you sick or in pain, and he can't help but worry a little bit.

Will respect hospital rules but will stay up until the very last minute of visiting hours are over. Knows the names of every nurse and doctor treating you. 

Definitely has flowers or a stuffed bear for you as soon as you wake up from surgery. 

Dotes on your every need once you are home and watches you like a hawk. The first few days, he doesn't even let you go to the bathroom by yourself. You can't get away with shortcutting your recovery under his eye. 

Sam Wilson

Buys you a cute, silly stuffed version of whatever you are having surgery on to make you laugh. See my new stuffed sad gallbladder plush as reference here.

All the nurses love him, and he likes to crack jokes with all the staff. Offers to help with anything he can but mostly tries to stay out of their way.

Trying to make you smile all the way until they wheel you to the OR. He doesn't want you to be scared or nervous. 

Like Steve, he will put on a brave face but will be nervous once you are in surgery. Lots of pacing back & forth. Lots of trips to the coffee machine.

Takes care of you once you are home but not quite as mother hen as Steve. Will let you judge what is best for you, but will 100% call you out if he sees you doing something the doctor told you not to.

Will also rat you out to your doctor if you don’t follow their instructions. He doesn't want to snitch, but he'd also rather not be the one to scold you.

Loki

Doesn't like the idea of someone operating on you. Trained surgeon or not, they are still just a simple Midgardian.

Doesn't like the hospital one bit. Comments on the color and decor, even the hideous hospital gown you have to wear. Partly to make you laugh, partly because it was all truly hideous.

If your surgeon even hesitates on a question you ask, Loki will assume they aren't the best and demand another doctor. You may have to talk him down a bit. He's a prince, after all, and he wants to make sure you are in the best hands possible.

The whole thing seems a bit barbaric to him. He would much have preferred using magic or Asgardian ways to heal you, but alas when on Midgard. 

Secretly terrified something will happen to you, but would never tell you he's worried. Doesn't like that he can't do anything to help you.

Is not very used to taking care of people, and as royalty, he's the one used to being waited on, but he will try his best to do whatever you need him to do.

Will probably mostly ignore instructions from the doctor so you are in charge of that part of your care, but he will beg to accelerate your healing with his magic if he can.

Eddie Brock & Venom

Venom brings you chocolates, which he then eats after you tell him he can, and says not to worry because if the doctors don't take proper care of you he will bite off their heads and eat their brains.

Eddie is nervous but trying to be brave, so you won't be scared. It doesn't help that Venom keeps telling Eddie not to make you nervous, which then, in turn, makes him nervous. He will try to make jokes and keep you entertained however he can.  

Eddie and Venom try not to argue while they wait for you to get done with surgery. The last thing you need is to wake up and find out that they ended up in the psych ward for talking to/arguing with themselves in the waiting room. They are on their best behavior.

Both of them try to wait on you hand and foot after you get home. You've had to eat several well-meaning but truly gross breakfasts in bed so as not to disappoint either of them. They mean so well, but neither of them can cook beyond tater tots.

You have woken up to Venom staring at you because “one of us has to watch you at all times until you are recovered”. He took that 100% seriously. He has also stuck tendrils under the bathroom door like cat paws.

One great thing about Venom is the fact that thanks to his tendrils, he can literally get anything you need from around the apartment in seconds without you or Eddie having to get up. This makes him one of the best nurses ever. All you have to do is hint that you want something and boom, it's there.

Yours and Theirs

You stood by the bar, sipping your drink and staring at them from across the room. You watched them talking and laughing and all you wanted was to be the cause of that laugh. You'd been in love with them for longer than you'd care to admit but it felt like a lifetime. It felt like you'd known them forever, through all of your past lives. The past few months you thought you'd seen something in them, you thought they might finally return your feelings and if so tonight would be the perfect night.

You were at a themed party, 1860s era. There was an extremely talented string quartet playing beautifully in the background. You were in a gorgeous time appropriate outfit that still accentuated all the best parts of your body. Then there they were. They were truly amazing at all times but tonight, oh tonight was the epitome. They looked breathtaking, if you didn't know better you'd be sure they were a god and anyone who'd disagree would be sorely mistaken.

You watched as their perfect lips took a sip from their glass, you'd swear they were taunting you. You looked into their eyes, beautiful pools you wished to dive into. All you wanted was for them to be yours and for you to be theirs. You decided to take your chance. As the previous song was starting to fade out, you walked over to them. They saw you and began to creep closer, the two of you locked in heated eye contact, stalking towards each other like predators to prey. You met in the middle of the dance floor just as the quartet began to play 'Clocks'. You raised your palm just below your face and theirs followed. Your hands maybe an inch away from each other. You started to move in a circular fashion, chasing each other. You brought your hand down, as did they, only to switch to the other, as did they. You chased each other once again, this time in the opposite direction. You walked up to each other again, just as close and before but this time, you touched. Both of your hands found their way to hips and shoulders. You felt your fingers interlocking and you wished they'd stay that way forever. You danced around the room dipping down and bobbing back up like you were gliding through the water. With every stroke and strum of the strings your love grew fonder. The way the bows swept across the instruments in swift movements matched your own and the slow gliding was your favourite part. You continued, your eyes never parting for a second. You saw into their soul when you danced with them. You saw the love you felt being returned. The strings began to quieten down and you began to stop moving. The song reached its end, far too quickly, and you stood there, with them. Their lips parted for a moment as they began to say something but before they could finish, you stopped them. Your lips clashed with theirs in the most passionate kiss of your lifetime. Your lips moulded with theirs like a fine clay sculpture, the finest. You separated, only out of fear of suffocation, if not for breathing you would have never stopped kissing them. You didn't take your eyes off each other as you gasped, catching your breath. You couldn't wait any longer, you had to say it.

'I love you' you uttered, breathlessly. You stood there for a moment, your words hanging in the air.

'I've been waiting for you to say that since the moment I met you, I love you too' they said as a tear rolled down their cheek.

You moved and hand to Their cheek to wipe away their tears as you let your own out, feeling a huge sense of relief and belonging, finally. Their words melted your heart, you too had wanted this since you met them and you finally had it. They were yours and you were theirs, as it should be, as it will always be.

And yes the dance was inspired by The Vampire Diaries, I'm watching it for the first time and I just had to write something about that scene!

The MCU didn't need to use time travel and their decision to do so directly led to their downfall

If they hadn't done that time skip they could've used that time to slowly rebuild the team and set up for a huge collaboration that solves the issue phase 4 started. (that issue being the fact that it no longer feels like one cohesive mcu)

if the time between the snap and endgame was spent introducing the characters and storylines we now have in phase 5, you can correlate many of them to the abilities of infinity stones.

Wanda (reality) and Loki (time) are obvious ones but it doesn't stop there;

with a little work space (America Chavez), mind (Professor X), power (Starlord/Peter Quill), and soul (Jean Grey/Phoenix), can be slowly established. then, endgame can be the realization of these connections.

this would clear up the common misconception that infinity stones are this all-powerful, vague, items w abilities beyond anything else in the galaxy because if masters in each ability working together could very easily have the same result as wielding all six infinity stones then, it's a whole lot easier to continue the steady rise in stakes without ppl saying stuff like "wow so all those heroes died for nothing" when they watch the first episode of Loki.

the reason thanos needed to collect all infinity stones was bc he, alone, would be a master in all forms of power in the universe.

you can still retire original characters in this storyline, as well as explore a much wider universe. everything could still work and you wouldn't have been accidentally concluding your story.

"Pleasantly enough." His voice dropped octaves and you let out a soft moan of surprise, eyes fluttering open as you felt tentacles caressing your skin. 

"L-Loki." You looked over your shoulder to observe the beautiful green tentacles that were wrapping up your legs, a soft feeler dipping lightly over your clit. "But i-it's morning." 

"And you're already so wet." Loki whispered, more tentacles encasing your body, tying you to him completely. Your head laid against his shoulder as one of the tentacles plunged inside of you. "Oh I can feel all of you. .." Lokis' face showed as much ecstasy as yours.

You loved the brilliant green of the thick appendages. It was such a beautiful colour and when you saw it (especially moving in or on you) you knew you were loved and safe. Not like the purple ones of that Dark Stephen Strange. . . 

Stephen reached out at that moment, his thumb sitting heavily on your bottom lip. You parted your lips, letting him slide his thumb into your mouth to suck on. "God you look so beautiful like this Y/N."

Lokis' tentacles slowly disappeared as he released his magic on them and Stephen sat up in bed with a sigh, "I suppose a shower is in order now." 

"Yes indeed." Loki chuckled, his eyes flashing green. "And it'll be my turn to fuck you." Stephen went red while you giggled.

Despite the lovely morning, the rest of the day was a drag. Your training was brutal and you simply wanted to go home with Stephen and Loki and curl up with something warm to drink and cuddle.

But your report wasn't going to let you do that anytime soon so after a quick call with your lovers that you weren't going to be home until late, you head upstairs to a private office and sat down on the couch to get the report done. 

You must've fallen asleep, because you slowly came around as you felt tentacles wrap around your body in a hug. You smiled into your arm, forgetting where you were or what time it was, "Morning Loki." 

"Not quite." The voice in your ear whispered. You tried to bolt upright, completely forgetting your entrapment. Your eyes shot open and you stared up into the face of a man you thought you'd never see again. 

"What- How- Stephen banished you." You gasped, struggling in the grasp of his tight tentacles, knowing it was futile. 

"He certainly thought he did." This darker version of your husband sounded amused, his fingers caressing your chin while his tentacles pulled and teared at your clothing, leaving you naked in his arms. "But I have been in your world this entire time. . . watching." 

"Why?" You demanded, hoping to either stall or potentially get answers out of him. You didn't know how much time had passed, but if you were really late, either Stephen or Loki would come looking for you to make sure you were okay. 

"Because I will not let anything keep me from what I want, not even another version of myself and that trickster God." Dark Stephens' tone turned to disgust at the mention of Loki, making your defensiveness flare. 

"Don't you dare speak awfully of him!" You snapped. "Loki-" You gasped, which turned into a groan as the tentacles squeezed you tightly, making it harder to breathe. 

"The only name I want dropping from those pretty lips is 'doctor', understand darling?" He asked with a sneer, making a mockery of the nickname your Stephen normally called you. 

But you could barely breathe so you nodded a little quicker than you would have liked, sucking in air as you were somewhat released. 

"I can't wait to play with you again." Dark Stephen muttered, almost to himself. "Despite what a pain in the ass and a bore you are in my  world, this version of you is quite responsive. It almost makes me want to travel back to my world and see if you're the same in that respect there." 

"You're disgusting." You spat, watching one of his tentacles warily as it creeped up your leg, closer and closer to your aching hole. You hated how wet you got when tentacles were involved, even if the man in front of you was evil. 

"And you seem needy." Stephen said, and you shuddered as he ran one of his tentacles against your sensitive clit. "It's almost like those two don't do a good enough job of taking care of you. . ." 

"Well I disagree." A cold, hateful voice responded from the side of the room. 

"Loki." You gasped, snapping your eyes over to both him and Stephen, who were standing in the middle of the room. They'd obviously portaled and were standing at the defensive. Loki had two knives in his hands, Stephen had his hands raised, ready to use his sling ring in whatever way he could. 

You suddenly gasped again, back arching in pleasure as a tentacle plunged into you as  the Dark version of Stephen was displeased with you calling out Lokis' name. Another tentacle parted your lips, plunging into your throat, making you choke suddenly, eyes filling with tears. 

"I banished you." Stephen said firmly. "How did you get back here?" 

"You never banished me." Dark Stephen answered with a smirk. You were kind've wishing they'd all shut up and let your brains be fucked out, but that was probably just the pleasure coursing through your body speaking. Dark Stephen looked down at you with a smirk and voiced your pleasure aloud to your husbands, "That first orgasm came so easily. Are you sure she's really loyal to the two of you?" 

You cried out in protest around the tentacle, which you swear grew in size to press against the inside of your throat, effectively shutting you up. 

"Of course she is." Loki practically snarled. 

"If you unhand her now," Stephen said while the tentacles played with your clit, twisting the sensitive nipples of your breasts. You swore you were going to cum again and you were squeezing around his tentacles, trying your best not to. "you can go back to your world with no unnecessary conflict."

Faster than you could've predicted Loki was behind Dark Stephen, knife in hand, to plunge it into his back. But Dark Stephen was even faster than him, his tentacles wrapping quickly around Loki, lifting him into the air. Loki gritted his teeth, before crying out in shock as he was flipped upside down, tentacles wrapped solely around his ankles. 

He was bare at that moment, his clothes falling to the ground in the same pattern of ripped scraps as yours. 

"I guess I get both of your lovers." Dark Stephen said casually. You moaned then, watching as a thick tentacle wrapped around Lokis' cock, while the Gods' face turned steadily pink. 

"Unhand me you foul-!" Loki choked as one of the tentacles shoved its way into his mouth. Loki looked like he wanted to bite, but Stephen was to thick to bite- you knew from experience. 

"Ah if only the Loki in my world were so easy to tame." Dark Stephen said with a sigh, running a tentacle across Lokis' flushed cheek. His brow was pinched as he tried not to give into the pleasure he was feeling as the tentacle stroked him.

"Let her go now!" Stephen and Loki both shouted in sync. 

Lokis' eyes rolled back into his head as the tentacle jerked his cock in a way that made him want to cum. It was taking all of his willpower not to give in to the pleasure. "That's it." The variant Stephen smirked, tasting his release. "You're quite an interesting plaything Loki." 

Loki gasped as he found the ground coming closer to his face as he was dropped, barely catching himself and twisting sideways to land better on the ground. The variant of Stephen had withdrawn most of his tentacles back into his body, except for a few that he kept wrapped around Y/N. 

"I suppose this fun time is over." Variant Stephen said in an almost bored voice now, before lunging for the glass window of Y/Ns' office. Lokis' heart clenched in panic until the dark sorcerer smashed against the window, falling back to the office floor as an orange symbol appeared there. 

His Stephen acted quickly, trapping the variant in a box of sorts. Loki didn't know what the magic was, but it clearly pained the other as he writhed and screamed in pain. 

"Give her back." Stephen said in a warning voice and slowly the variant released Y/N. "Take her Loki, get her home." 

Loki scrambled forwards, picking his sweet girl up in his arms. "You're okay." He mumbled, before turning on his heel and teleporting home.

You groaned as you came around, slowly peeling your eyes open to find that you were laying in a warm, clean bed. Arms were holding you from behind, your head resting against the softness of someones' stomach. Based on the flawless skin, you knew it was Loki and not Stephen. 

"Loki?" Your voice sounded awful, croaky and dry. One of the hands retreated, before bringing you a glass of water from the bedside table. You drank it greedily while Loki spoke softly. 

"How are you feeling pet?" 

"Really sore." You mumbled, "Where's Stephen?" 

"Kitchen." Loki said quietly. "He wasn't sure if he should be here or not when you woke up." 

You sat up gingerly, feeling how sore you were. Dark Stephen had really done a number on you. "Oh wow." You gave a short laugh, noting how off you felt. You glanced up at Lokis' face, seeing how serious he looked. "What's wrong Loki? Did something happen?" 

"Besides us allowing you to be raped?" He questioned softly. 

You nearly rolled your eyes, but knew he was being serious. You took him by the hand, standing up. "Come on, let's go find Stephen." 

He let you lead him to the kitchen where Stephen was sitting with a cup of tea. "Y/N." He said, standing up slowly. You let go of Lokis' hand, hugging Stephen tightly. 

"Is he gone?" You asked. 

"Yes." Stephen said firmly, hugging you tightly. "He's gone." 

"Thank you." You said quietly. 

"Y/N-" 

"No." You said, pulling away and holding each of their hands. "I love you both. And let's be honest." You smirked at them both. "I enjoyed myself. I really do love tentacles." 

And that made Loki smirk and with a quiet chuckle he said, "As do I." 

Stephen smirked and rolled his eyes. "I suppose a round three is in order?" 

You grinned, "Oh yes."
