The LGBTQ+ community has forgiven Taurus
Transcription for people who have trouble reading my handwriting:
Comic 1:
Taurus: “MS. LUCY! You may think yourself weak and cowardly, but know this! You are a kind, smart, charming, pretty, talented, beautiful, incredible, and gorgeous leader! You alone hold the key to my being… and my heart. I can’t imagine a higher honour for a celestial spirit such as myself than to—“
Lucy: “IF I’M SUCH A GREAT LEADER THAN COME HELP ME TAURUS!”
Taurus: “Sorry!”
Happy, removed from the conversation: “Good job Natsu!”
Comic 2:
Loke: “Hey Taurus! Long time no see! You get bigger or something?”
In Taurus’ thought bubble, he imagines a sad Lucy due to Loke’s avoiding her.
Loke: “Pal?”

I feel like I would love Fairy Tail even more if it focused more on the celestial spirits and heavenly body magic
We focus a lot on all aspects about dragons and dragon slayers, but the stars are constantly important to the plot and the answer to many things. Being a celestial spirit is also really OP cause you can't die, not even if your key is broken, only if you turn human by breaking the laws
There's so much more I want to see, more stardresses in action, the silver keys, acquiring more silver keys, learn more about the spirits and what their previous life with other masters were like, their customs and dynamics, and more of all the lost magics of celestial users (because urano metria can't be the only one)
Honestly, if Fairy Tail started focusing more about Celestial Magic I would love it, and i know a lot of watchers would too

Nope. Nuh uh. Nah just. Nope.
What’s even… what’s even the point? What’s the. Nope.
spoilers I guess ⬇️
Mirajane is tough. I get it. But “I’m the leader of the zodiac, I can do things the other spirits can’t, love makes us stronger, yada yada-“
Does Mashima regret creating Loke? He clearly just doesn’t care about him anymore. What’s the point? What’s the point.
I honestly don’t even know if I can keep watching if this is the kind of crap that’s gonna happen in this sequel. Like I was already not very impressed by the start of this story. I was almost pulled back in with the bait that Lucy, Loke and Virgo would overcome the freakin Strauss siblings. But nah, no. Once again, Lucy’s spirits are the laughing stock of Fairy Tail.
I’m fckng done.

I’ve been reading a lot of Fairy Tail headcanons so I thought I’d throw some of my own out!
-Gray has permanently black finger tips. A side effect of his magic. Every doctor thinks it's frost bite, but he has no actual symptoms besides appearance so they leave it be
- Bickslow sends his babies to spy on other guild members. He knows all of the tea
-Wendy's senses are more amplified than the rest of the dragon slayers. It's a side effect of her ability to boost others powers. She absolutely hates it. She's heard way too much and is traumatized
-Loke still has his guildmark and he wears it with pride. Some of the other spirits want one too because of his and Lucy's love for Fairy Tail
-Every time Gildarts finishes a job in a new town, he buys Cana a shot glass. She claims she doesn't want them, but has a special shelf to display them
-The dragon slayers are always given dragon themed gifts. Wendy has so many white dragon plushies, she's drowning in them. Gajeel has a million metal dragon figurines (the guild assumes he eats them but he actually really loves and cherishes them). Natsu has the biggest collection and keeps a little note next to every item he gets reminding him of who gave it to him and when he got it

bouncing off of this hc a little bit.
the ophiuchus isn't a 'thirteenth gate', it is a black key. one of twelve, all of whom are older than the current iterations of the golden zodiacs. because they were the golden zodiacs.
to start near the beginning: zeref and anna didn't create the eclipse gate. they found uncompleted schematics for it and finished it. its first creation was thousands of years earlier. it was the turning point in time, causing a distinction of 'before' and 'after'. 'before' being 000x, with 'after' being x000.
the twelve golden zodiacs and their masters were the ones spearheading the creation of the gate, but there were plenty of silver keys that had helped in secret. they wanted to go back in time and stop a particularly devastating war from wiping out too many humans.
all was fine, with the celestial spirit king either none the wiser or purposefully turning a blind eye--no one could tell. until they needed to activate the gate. that was the main part of the schematics that were missing, and anna heartfilia learned that all twelve of the golden gate keys could sustain it without any sacrifice.
that was not known in 000x.
ophiuchus was known at the time as 'pisces'. a daughter and her father, for every iteration of pisces has to be a duo of some sort.
the daughter sacrificed her unwilling father to open the gate. two became one.
the only reason she is called anything other than 'the disgraced pisces' is because yukino agria has the current pisces key. and it is... not quite forbidden for the current zodiacs to interact with the black keys, but it's certainly not looked upon highly.
aquarius sacrificed his and his master's weapon and the plans to make more. one that was a fusion of celestial steel and mortal iron. a harmony between the two realms, destroyed forever.
taurus spilt the blood of his master's lover despite multiple orders not to. there was no compulsion to follow the order. no magic binding his will to his master's. now there is.
sagittarius threw his horse into the spell. two became one, once again.
gemi and mini split themselves in half and sewed one half of their bodies together, using the other halfs as their sacrifice. they shared one head, fused two halves of a brain into one, and only had two arms and two legs. they kept one heart for themselves.
cancer and her master had built the gate in their estate, purposefully drawing the magic circles big enough to swallow the grounds whole. a family house, cut out of existence.
virgo dressed her masters up in the prettiest of celestial clothing. she fed them well and with ingredients gathered from the celestial realm. they drank from the milky-way and feasted upon the stars. and she tied them up like hogs and left them within the consumption circles.
aries took the prized statue he made for the spirit king and ripped it from their realm, letting it break and shatter across the marked circle.
scorpio made a deal with his new master, one that came about after the gate began construction. an elderly widower ill with heartbreak. if he helped with the creation of the gate, scorpio would ensure that he meets his husband in the afterlife. a promise he was unable to keep, for the gate took hold of everything given to it and did not let go.
capricorn gave up his own body. he transferred his consciousness to a goat and used his magic to mold it into a humanoid shape.
libra gave up everything that was hers. her home in the realms, her magic, her symbol. she became little more than dust until her master helped her succeed at gravity magic.
leo had no master. he had no home in the realms, no art that he mastered, nothing in particular that he could give up. except for the one that gave him this freedom. his human wife. and their daughter. and their granddaughter. he wasn't able to use the granddaughter in the sacrifice--his daughter had a vision mere days before the gate was finished and sent her daughter to an orphanage.
the gate didn't work. it took and it took and it took, but it did not rewind time. the celestial spirit king, who saw all that was fed to this faulty device, knew he had to do something.
he banished all twelve of the golden zodiacs from the celestial spirit realm. this was long before he knew how to bar them from the stars, however, so the most he could do was rip them from their constellations and keys and place them within a new part of the sky. place them within darkened keys that had another part to them--a magical and mechanical piece that had to be near the keys in order for a summoning to work.
for pisces, it was a flower that the father gave to the daughter before they were golden. the very one that rests within yukino agria's hair, that changes color and is never destroyed.
despite the many millennia that separates them, the current iterations of the golden zodiacs can still remember parts of their first lives. not the contexts, not the reasonings, not the minutiae of it all. just little snippets.
loke wasn't as surprised as he should've been when karen died. he's always had the resolve to kill his masters, after all. he's just thankful that he feels remorse for it this time. he's grown since that first life, with his heart and his little philea's blood on his hands, a distant and cold sense of triumph barely remembered.

Au ish thing where fairytail meets the Chinese zodiac spirits and the year of the dragon wants to make a contract with Lucy and natsu gets get jealous
I like it! But I don’t feel like Natsu would get jealous of celestial spirits. He’d be PUMPED that Lucy had a dragon at beck and call though! He LOVES it!
Let me tell you someone who gets insanely jealous though: Loke. Ooooh he’s so mad. He and the dragon spirit are complete rivals. Both call Lucy “my wife”. It’s basically Jet and Droy fighting over Levy while Levy is looking at Gajeel.

Lucy's telepathic connection with her spirits is so underused, especially because it would let her grow her bond with her spirits without having to summon them
My girlfriend is a DID system, so all my thoughts about this are DID adjacent lmao
Just living life:
Lucy wakes up and has a debate with Cancer about which outfit she wears. This is daily and nonnegotiable
Levy spots her best friend when she comes into the guild and excitedly walks up and greets her, only for Lucy to not respond at all. She tries a couple of times, seeing that Lucy is clearly spacing out, only for Lucy to jump when she sees Levy. Apologizing because she was talking to Aries and forgot the outside world existed for a few seconds there.
Lucy is walking with her team. Natsu and Gray are arguing, Erza is teaching Wendy how to read maps or something (and also contemplating murdering the two behind her), and Lucy, who was lagging in the back, randomly burts out laughing bc Gemini told her a joke
Lucy and Loke are sitting pretty far away from each other at the guild, and both of them stand up to start shouting at each other because they absolutely got into an argument (some massively stupid shit, probably like which outfit Mirajane modeled in this week's edition of sorcerer's magazine was the best stupid shit) and they accidently scare the shit out of everyone around them
Lucy dances around on the river bank edge, scaring the poor guys that always warn her not to fall because Lyra is playing music for her in her head
She is literally never late to anything. Never over sleeps. Never. This is 100% because of Horologium and Capricorn and 100% agaisnt her will, but it does give her an impeccable reputation so she's not too mad
If you think Aquarius, Loke, Virgo, and Gemini wouldn't pop in to randomly give commentary on her life, you'd he so wrong. Their all nosey ass bitches and the celestial spirit world is boring, they need their drama somehow
Aquarius will randomly pop up when Lucy talks to a cute boy to ask her why she isn't shooting shot, much to Lucy's loathing. It gets worse when Loke starts doing the same thing but for women. Why are you bi yourself Lucy??? She hates them both
Gemini will show up, say the most impulsive terrible idea ever, and then immediately leave, just letting Lucy sit with that. Have a nice rest of your day. That or they say some gruesome shit while she's in the middle of a fight. Kids, please lighten up
Lucy knows in her heart that when she asks a rhetorical question and Virgo answers that Virgo is actively trying to scare her. She fucking has Virgo's number. She can pretend to be emotionless outside of being a masochist, but Lucy knows she's a little fucking shit
While on jobs:
Lucy is fighting a mage with her whip, trying to figure out what kind of magic they're using so she can properly pick a spirit to counter them and Virgo just pops in like "It's wax magic, princess", scaring the living shit out of Lucy but also helping her in the battle
Lucy is wandering around during a job, sees some big footsteps, and Sagittarius is like, "Those are Tarasque tracks." Unprompted and Lucy starts bemoaning her stupid baka life where she has to fight shit like Tarasques
She could set up some truly bullshit turnarounds with Loke's ability to summon himself. No!! Bad guy!!! I'm running to this dead end all alone :( and my hands are nowhere near my keys :( I'm so scared. Pov: Loke appears right the fuck behind them
Not to mention Loke's ability to switch out with other spirits and have other spirits switch out with him??? If other people couldn't hear them talk, they could do all sorts of insane shit. It would be so much fun. That time Loke blinded Bixslow, and she got his ass except more and funnier bc they know it's coming even less
Also, the spirits' ability to shapeshift is underused. Lucy summons Taurus during a guild brawl. Everyone is expecting a bull man, and no one expects a literal giant bull. She wins that fight, thank you
She takes a job in the desert, and Scorpio is like??? Insanely knowledgeable about how to survive, which shouldn't be surprising now that Lucy is looking back on it, but man, is she happy to have someone who knows exactly what their doing
This isn't always helpful. A village describes a problem to her, and all her spirits end up in a round table discussion about what creature or magic is most likely to actually cause this problem, giving her a massive headache. Guys please shut the fuck up and have this conversation literally anywhere else, thank you
#they also give fun suggestions like murdering people. there is no way at least most of her spirits didnt want Hibiki dead on Loke's behalf#this is also the reason why im a Lucy should have less keys truther. more time to devlope each spirit. and their all fucking immortal#they should know shit and be a lot more useful than they are. plus the less she has the more powerful they are ect ect#insted of gold keys looking like something she gets like candy#i mostly included all the spirits bc if i just did the ones i think she should have that felt rude fnjskssjissi#fairy tail#ft#fairy tail lucy#fairy tail celestial spirits#ft lucy#ft celestial spirits#celestial spirits#Celestial spirit magic#ft loke#ft Aquarius#ft virgo#ft gemini

Doodle of my Fairy Tail rewrite AU! With Lucy, Kai (Oc), Loke, Eridanus and Mard Geer
More brief info under the cut
This isn't really canon compliant at all, it's a rewrite and I make my own rules based on what I think is cool or on my feelings
It takes place after the one year Natsu was away and Fairy Tail disbanded, Lucy depended a lot on her spirits, being her only comfort and company. While she never gave up on Fairy Tail, and still loves her family so much, she grew resentment towards them (especially because of her grief), and when Fairy Tail is back together, after a while Lucy goes on a mission alone to organize her feelings better
There, she meets Kai, a Heavenly Body Magic user and a Celestial Magic User (that has only one silver key lol, but he cherishes it a lot), and very fast they become friends, talking and sharing about spirits and the stars
Kai joins Fairy Tail, and he makes a team with Lucy, while this all started so Lucy would resolve her feelings, she found herself happier with this new dynamic. Loke is, ofc, a big part of this rewrite and so are the other spirits, but he's always there to support Lucy and opening his own gate just to talk to her. I think it's so interesting that Loke is part of Fairy Tail, the leader of the zodiac spirits, the strongest losing only to the King himself, is part of the messiest guild in Fiore lmao, so he becomes part of their team too and goes on missions with them
Eridanus is, well, Lucy's whip! In this story, he gets banished (for reasons) but instead of becoming human, he falls inside the river he represents and gets locked inside the whip. Lucy gets him out, and sorts everything with King like she did when Loke needed her, now she can use Eridanus as a weapon, or 'summon' from inside the whip, but it takes a lot of magic from her. Eridanus acts a bit insane, sometimes too clingy, and he has no filter
Mard Geer is, well, a spirit! Similarly to Ophiuchus he's not part of the 12th zodiac. In this AU he doesn't die after Tartarus, and comes back to try to kill Lucy for ruining his plans. It's a fight with a lot of stakes, and then King appears (as a projection to not ruin the sacrifice that Aquarius and Lucy made) to banish him (Kings favorite thing to do) to the celestial world as a spirit, becoming a key, and having to work with his master, Lucy!
Mard Geer is extremely mad and unstable in the start, but after a while he starts appreciating his new life, because at least he's not dead! He has a funny dynamic with Lucy and Loke
That's it! In this au I want to explore Lucy's feelings and growth with magic, the spirits, heavenly body magic, and characters that aren't from Fairy Tail guild

Here's my Leo/Loke!! I took big inspo from his Eclipse form because I genuinely think most if not all the Eclipse deigns are better than their base forms ''''-v-
I was originally going to give him a big sword like a King Arthur sorta vibe but I thought a shield would fit more with his personality and make him a lot more unique in combat.
The form on the right in the suit is what I imagine Loke looks like in his human disguise.
#fairy tail#redesign#undescribed#celestial spirits#concept art#leo fairy tail#loke fairy tail#Made his upper body a touch thinner than I actually imagine him to be#omg the typo in the caption was so embarrassing guys plz

A Celestial Promise: For The Lucy Heartfilia Zine
I Can Finally Post the Piece I Wrote For @lucyheartfiliazine . Leftover Sales Released January 22nd - so pop on over if you'd like to snag one for yourself! This One-Shot Was Written as a Partner Piece to @phoenix-before-the-flame art submission for the Very Same Zine. I'll link to it here once I know it's been posted, so be on the look out for that! [Partner Piece]
The tick of the clock was louder than the sounds on the streets of Crocus. Lucy Heartfilia moved with the time, fingers tapping to a frustrated, staccato beat against the grain of her desk. The thud of her heel striking the floor soon joined in for an orchestra of thinly veiled desperation. The paper before her was a stark contrast from the dark wood, its white pages littered in red corrections. All things that were meant to clarify her errors, but only mocked Lucy as she struggled to understand her blunders. Jason, as goofy as most would think him to be while interviewing the many Guilds in Fiore, was a strict teacher.
Too Vague. He said on one line. Too descriptive on another. Too opinionated, not subjective? Without the guild to call her home, Lucy thought she could finally, finally, make one in Sorcerer Weekly, writing their articles and bettering her craft. But this made the fifth rejected article since she began her apprenticeship under Jason and a strange, empty hopelessness began to seep into her limbs.
“What am I doing wrong?” Downcast eyes tore themselves away from the offending parchment to meet the worried, small pupils of her current companion: Plue, her little Nikola. He sat on the edge of her desk, a half-eaten sucker dripped from his mouth as he tilted his large, bulbous head to blink curiously at her. “You wouldn’t happen to know, would you?”
Lacking an answer beyond the little dog Spirit’s general babble of ‘puhn, puhn!’, Lucy turned her gaze towards the large wall by her bedside. In time, it will be covered in papers and documents listing all the locations and going ons of all her friends, but now, it was half what it would be, with a few papers pinned against it. Not all of her previous family, her friends, her Guild, have been located, but the few that were held empty smiles along the vast amount of saved photographs.
None of them gave an answer either. What else was I expecting?
“Pu-puhn!” Plue, ever the optimist on a bad day, regained Lucy’s attention. His gentle, tiny paws patted her arm and directed her back to the papers before her. The sucker, left behind to stick to the wood grain, was a minor concern Lucy would clean later.
Plue was still directing her. Patting his soft head, Lucy thanked him and retrieved a fresh, clean sheet of parchment.
“You’re right. I can do this. Thanks Plue.”
Nothing was ever gained by wallowing, was it?
Rejected. Again. And Again. How many times now? The scrunched papers of her previous work littered the floor and Lucy sighed, biting back bitter, frustrated tears. How many days, weeks even, would she have to go through? “Am I just not cut out for this?”
Listless. Directionless. The night Plue had directed her was a moment of respite, but days later, Lucy found the thought of summoning the spirit a worthless pursuit. He would want to help, of course he would. The cuddles of a little dog spirit were nice, but she didn’t have the time to cuddle. How many more rejections until Jason gave up on her? Until she was pushed back to modeling in a line of work that didn’t interest her?
Was she… not good enough?
“Can I really do this?” She whispered, not for the last time, her gaze tilted to the wall again, eyeing the ever constant growing images of all her friends. They were moving on. They were making more of themselves than the life they previously had. A recent news clipping of Levy being accepted into the counsel burned into Lucy’s retinas. She remembered seeing Gajeel’s own acceptance in those clippings, and the hints of her previous family joining other guilds. They were moving forward.
The one blank space saved for her previous team stabbed Lucy’s heart and she struggled to breathe. There was no Wendy, no Gray, no Erza to calm her down; to chase her horrid thoughts away. And no Natsu to cheer her on and tell her she was over thinking.
“I was a low-grade wizard in a world full of superstars, and I’m silly enough to think I can write?” The laugh that escaped was a hollow, empty thing and Lucy wondered when her light had faded to a dull shine. Rather than a pen clinging to her hand, urging her to continue her pointless endeavor, Lucy looked to the keys on her hip, fingers gently brushing along the sleek metal. Her grip tightened on the jagged, broken reminder beside them.
Aquarius would have scolded me, Lucy reminisced, barely recognizing her own tears. She would have scolded and insulted me for sitting here, until I was so mad I’d finish an entire chapter out of spite, but she’s-
The water spirit wasn’t there. She wouldn’t be there. Never again. In the moments of her drowning emotions, Lucy buried her face into her arms, a sob wracking her shoulders against the desk.
Lucy truly was alone.
The clock ticking echoed with a steady, loud rhythm that slowed Lucy’s cries, lulling her to sleep. Her blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders and off the table like a curtain. Lucy’s revised article for Jason would have to wait as Lucy succumbed to a sleep that muffled the sorrow chaining her.
The keys on her belt began to hum as a gentle glow surrounded them and one, silver key illuminated in light as a tiny little dog spirit opened his gate and joined the world. His gentle paws were unseen and unfelt, but the light of the keys grew stronger as Plue nuzzled his face into the depths of Lucy’s hair.
Lucy was floating in a blank space. Barely conscious of a soft weight against her head, but aware of the weightless air surrounding her. Her feet struck what felt like polished marble and a great staircase unfolded before her: ascending up and up into the clouds. She couldn’t see how far it rose, but with wide eyes, she began her ascent with soft, bare footsteps that echoed through the void.
She didn’t know how she arrived or where she was going, but with each step Lucy became aware of something new. Her clothes no longer constricted her body, but flowed into an inky blue. Her hair flowed gently behind like water and somewhere above, beyond the steps Lucy couldn’t see, a set of voices called her name.
“I’m,” She struggled to make a sound, mouth feeling like cotton as she croaked to the constant calling, “I’m coming!”
It takes a few moments, a few seconds of eternity, for Lucy to become rushed as recognition glints in her eyes. She knows these voices. She recognized the booming echoes that reverberated through the starry sky. These are her friends. Her dearest ones: Her spirits. The whisper of their voices become louder, beckoning her with the belief she can make it despite the climb. They coax her forward until the blistering pain in her lungs is forgotten. Lucy feels a burst of energy, gathering the dress in her hands to finish bounding up the last flight.
One voice, louder than the rest, represented a key that lay broken beside the others, called out, “Can you be any slower? Tch, hurry up already!”
Lucy knew her voice like it were a recording she listened to daily: Aquarius.
“I’m here!” She gasped, stumbling to the highest platform where she crumpled into a heap as she dragged air into her lungs with every gasp.
She made it; Floating just beyond her reach was the giant hand of the Celestial Spirit King hovering before her. His giant grin and mustache melded with the very sky as he watched from high above. His hand was huge, holding aloft the many faces of those she called friends. Those who had called for her.
“You made it.” Loke, her dearest friend and Guild Mate, called out from the tip of the King’s fingers, his own arm outstretched as he looked upon her with fond, endearing eyes. Beside him, the ever stoic Capricorn, nodded his head with pride. Virgo waved while Scorpio clung to the Celestial King’s Pinkie, dangling excitedly as Aries sat upon his rigid tail. They called to her, the twins of Gemini bouncing along in their excitement. And among the cacophony of their voices, Lucy met the eyes of the one she had missed the most in the passing months.
Aquarius lay against the King’s palm, propped by her own arm as she looked upon Lucy with a stern, warm gaze. It was familiar and cementing. Lucy knew it for what it was. She was there for a reason and ready to scold her if it were necessary. Lucy stopped breathing as she reached towards them all as if they could breach the distance with their arms alone.
“You made it up all those stairs? Excellent!” Scorpio exclaimed.
“S-sorry for the trouble.” Aries called, timidly.
“Piri Piri!”
“Miss Lucy, have you forgotten?” Capricorn interrupted, his gaze meeting Aquarius' for a moment as a silent understanding passed between them.
Lucy’s head tilted, blinking back the touched tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks. “Forgot what?”
They looked upon each other in silence, eyebrows raised and shook their heads. “That we’re right here, of course.”
It was Aquarius who spoke next, voice the sharpest among them, “That we’re always here, dummy.”
“Yes,” Loke cut in, his concern obvious as he looked upon Lucy through the tops of his sunglasses, “You’re not alone, Lucy. We’re right beside you: just call us.”
There was no stopping the tears. They flowed down like rain as Lucy’s shoulders shook, only now registering Plue taking his place beside her with a paw against her legs. His small shudders grounded her. When she glanced back, her friends' faces were solemn, serious, but brimming with a hope that left her lungs feeling too full, set to burst with emotion.
Loke leaned forward as the King’s hand shifted just enough to bring them closer, “You don’t have to cry alone. Every one of us is here for you.”
With heart wrenching sobs, Lucy nodded, smiling through the tears, despite the teardrops that landed on her hands, her dress. Each second she cried, the pain and loneliness that sought to drown her in her waking hours, slipped off her shoulders like melted ice. The burden weighing so heavily grew lighter and lighter. With a small apology, her hands met Loke's, grasping them tight enough to feel the gap between her and her dear spirits disappear.
“Thank you!” She sobbed, “All of you.”
When Lucy woke, she was startled to see the view of her apartment and not the stars above. Dizzy and thrown off, but safe and warm in the bed she doesn’t recall laying down in, but Plue’s paw grasped her hand hanging off the bed. He squeaked lightly when their eyes met and slowly faded back to his own realm. Lucy doesn’t know what his puhn’s often mean, but she can feel the relief they both shared and watched as he set her keys against the bedside table before his visage completely disappeared.
Perhaps… It was more than just a dream. And far more important at that. It took Lucy no time at all to dive towards her desk, fingers already grasping her quill to start writing her article once again.
“They’re right.” She said, eyes blazing, determined. “I’m not alone. I’m never alone. And I CAN do this.”
As the quick jots run across the parchment, Lucy thinks she heard Aquarius one last time, snorting derisively. ‘About time you realized that.’
For the first time in months, Lucy smiled.

I don’t reaaaally like the stardresses
But not for the same reason I’ve seen others dislike them? The biggest argument I see against Lucy’s stardresses is that it’s too much like Erza’s requip. I don’t disagree with that specifically. The thing is, in a roundabout way, I would argue that the issue with Lucy’s dresses is actually more of a reflection of the issue with Erza’s power (which I may or may not make a post about). What I mean is, if Erza’s magic was better developed, Lucy’s magic would seem more original.
Much like almost every other magic in this lazy-ass written universe, I don’t like the ‘rules’ (or lack thereof) for summoning them. The power scaling in FT is infamously terrible, so I’m basically preaching to the choir, but brain rot takes over my typey fingees sometimes.
So I’ve been reading the manga because the anime recently upset me, therefore I’d now rather quickly read through FT: 100YQ than invest a lot of emotional energy in an adaptation that really slows the pacing of its printed counterpart. That being said:
Part 1: Aquarius
First of all, I don’t agree with the fact that Lucy can still use Aquarius’s stardress. I understand that it was gifted to her by the Celestial King during Tartaros, but that only should have lasted as long as that war. I think it undermines Aquarius’s sacrifice and I also believe it would have benefited Lucy and her goals as a character for 100YQ. Giving Lucy Aquarius’s stardress could have represented the end of an era but the start of a new one. And it does, ostensibly. Aquarius is basically Lucy’s first spirit, someone who has both a strong connection with Lucy and with her mother. It’s a difficult bond to break, but a testament to Lucy letting go of a piece of her past to protect her present bonds. As a reward for such a sacrifice, the Celestial King gives her one last chance to fight for her future with an old friend’s power. It’s a beautiful moment that acts as closure for Aquarius’s “loss”, but also a hint at the new possibilities for Lucy’s new abilities. And that’s all it needed to be.
However, despite the fact that her contract with Aquarius is, for that time being, null and void, Lucy now overuses ‘Aqua Metria’ at every turn instead of bothering to actually summon the spirits with whom she currently has contracts (and seriously, is there no reason she can’t use Regulus Impact? I feel like it accomplishes the same… impact). This paragraph is just me venting, I find it quite annoying… Not to mention that not having the dress until she gets the key back could be something else to look forward to! Also Aquarius’s dress is probably my least favourite… so boring and just another excuse for Mashima to draw as little clothes on Lucy as often as possible.
Part 2: Borrowed power
Or at least, I feel that her stardresses should be considered borrowing a part of her spirits’ powers. Celestial magic is unique in that the wizard doesn’t just need to understand the mechanics of it, or how the magic flows within oneself. It also requires an extra level of bond and trust for it to function at its fullest. It’s actually a really beautiful power, one that I really admire. Which is why I’m so sad that it’s so misrepresented by its own creator. This is my opinion, but considering that summoning spirits is the main facet of her magic, I strongly feel that summoning a stardress should cost more power than opening a gate as well as be less powerful than the spirit whose dress it belongs to. That way, it’s still more worth it to summon the spirit, but is also a testament to the wizard’s magic power and their bond with their spirit since they are willing to expend even more power just to be able to fight alongside them. Not only that, but it feels to me like the dresses should be the spirits sharing their power with Lucy. However, it feels more like Lucy is summoning an entirely different entity that scales purely on her own magic power. Doesn’t that make her spirits obsolete? She barely ever summons them anymore because it seems that choosing to summon a stardress and skipping the spirit is not only more cost effective, but also makes her combat more efficient. If she fights better by herself than with her spirits, why even have spirits?
Considering how poorly written the spirits are, I’d almost argue that the stardresses, and only the stardresses, should’ve been Lucy’s power from the start. If you can’t do it right, then don’t do it at all.
On that topic:
Part 3: Is he bored of them?
I’m genuinely wondering if Mashima grew tired of his own concept. And by that I mean, the spirits specifically. Because he clearly loves the moral behind them. You love and respect them even if they’re not human. A moral developed really well, at least as far as I’ve seen in the anime, in Edens Zero. I won’t spoil it because this is a post about Fairy Tail, but I really like how that moral is done in that story. But he made 2 major mistakes in Fairy Tail. 1) Celestial wizards are rare. How can you fight for a cause if there is no cause to fight for? He tries to make up for this by Lucy starting to connect with other characters in the way the other protagonists just can’t, like Eclair from Phoenix Priestess and Athena from 100YQ. Great, point for Lucy’s character, really well done. Why can’t she extend that to her spirits on-screen? 2) he seems to have decided that because the spirits aren’t human, they must be one-note?? And only one spirit can have depth at a time. When he needed Aquarius to matter, Loke devolved into the thats-my-wife-guy. Meanwhile Aquarius evolved from raging PMS b*tch to ‘well maybe I do love Lucy after all -3-’.
He has written so so so many characters into his canon, but the celestial spirits, nooo that’s too much to keep track of. Despite how much he hammers home that they matter as much as everybody else. Worst of all, most of the time that they’re summoned, Lucy just seems annoyed or disturbed. So which is it???
Part 4: Help
I wish I could let go, someone help.
If you got this far, thanks for reading ✌️

Loke Headcanons:
-Loke summons himself all the time. On Lucy's days off, he's often seen hanging around the guild too. Fairy Tail is his family too after all
-Cana refers to him as a Cat Boy and often groups him with the exeeds when talking. She does it just to piss him off
-Loke does in fact purr. It's very rare but one time Gray scratched his head as a joke and Loke subconsciously started purring.
-Him and Hibiki have drinks every couple months. It started off as Loke wanting to apologize for Karen's death, but the two hit it off and have become good friends.
-No one is safe from his flirting. Everyone in the guild is fair game, including the men
-The first time he entered the spirit world after Lucy saved him, he just stood there and sobbed. The other spirits ran to greet him, making him cry even more.
