‘20/20’ EXPLORES GIRL SCOUT CAMP MURDERS THAT TURNED OKLAHOMA COMMUNITY UPSIDE DOWN AFTER CASE WENT COLD FOR DECADES
Two-Hour Program Includes Interviews With Parents of Victims and Key Investigators on the Decades-Old Case
‘20/20’ Airs on Friday, Nov. 4 (9:01-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC, Next Day on Hulu
*ABC News
In 1977, three elementary school Girl Scouts were murdered on their first night at summer camp, a shocking crime that turned Locust Grove, Oklahoma, upside down and catapulted the small town into the national spotlight. In a new “20/20,” 20/20 contributing anchor and ABC News senior national affairs correspondent Deborah Roberts reports on the case, unpacking the evidence that originally pointed authorities to convicted rapist Gene Leroy Hart. Family and police were shocked when the jury found Hart not guilty, and he returned to prison to serve time for previous crimes, only to die of a heart attack months later. Forty-five years later, a new sheriff looked at old evidence with state-of-the-art DNA analysis to explore one of the most notorious cases in Oklahoma history.
The two-hour program includes interviews with Sheri Farmer and Bo Farmer, parents of victim Lori Farmer; Bettye Milner, mother of victim Denise Milner; Carla Wilhite and Susan Emery, camp counselors who were at the camp on the tragic night; Mayes County Sheriff Mike Reed, who worked on the case; journalists Mike Boettcher and Michael Wheat, who originally reported on the case; acclaimed actress Kristin Chenoweth, who shares a personal connection to the case and others. “20/20” airs on Friday, Nov. 4 (9:01-11:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC, next day on Hulu.

We love being able to drive right to the water on the some of the rivers and creeks in Oklahoma. Spavinaw Lake State Park was the next stop on our NE Oklahoma swimming hole tour. Its 30 minutes north of Locust Grove. We stopped here in June last year and wanted to return. The water was warmer and shallower due to less rain and flow over the dam this time of year. But we still enjoyed the stay and ability to cool off in the water. . #spavinawcreek #lakespavinaw #swimminghole #oklahomastateparks #findyourwild #getlost #thinkoutside #staywild #keepexploring #rvliving #adventureiscalling #thegoodlife (at Spavinaw State Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf9KfCAOC6j/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

GG Magazine Puts Health on Center Stage
The latest issue of GG Magazine is now available. Explore this season’s edition of your global guide, dedicated to the preservation of our most precious possession: our health.
This season’s issue of GG Magazine is known as The Wellness Issue—introducing us to several exciting individuals and brands that are advocating for both mental and physical wellness.
Including the refreshingly down-to-earth Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner, who has also started a career as an organic entrepreneur, and the founder of Deliciously Ella, Ella Mills, whose vegan food blog has made her a role model for an entire generation. Also covered in this issue is the Wim Hof Method, a technique combining breathing, cold therapy, and personal commitment to help people connect more deeply to their bodies. And, as usual, you can look forward to industry news from Engel & Völkers CEO, Sven Odia.
Mrs. Feelgood
Jennifer Garner spreads good vibes like confetti. On her Instagram account, she sings, dances and bakes for 11.4 million followers; on Netflix, her family comedy Yes Day reached 53 million viewers within a month of its release; and, in the future, Garner plans to produce and star in a number of new projects with Netflix.
Hollywood’s most cheerful superstar is more than just an actress; Garner recently started a new career as an organic farmer. Her mission: to improve our children’s nutrition.
In 2017, Garner bought back her grandparents’ land in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Her uncle now farms it, growing fruits and vegetables for Once Upon a Farm’s line of organic baby food. Using high-pressure processing methods, he ensures the company’s pumpkins, blueberries, kale, sweet potatoes and persimmons retain their nutrients and vitamins. Garner serves as the public face of the whole operation, promoting the brand heavily on social media. She even has her own limited-edition blends named Farmer Jen.
Deliciously Ella
With her laid-back charm and plant-based cooking, the United Kingdom’s favorite food influencer, Ella Mills, is inspiring a whole generation. On top of creating apps, cookbooks and healthy snacks, the founder of Deliciously Ella has opened her own restaurant.
While she’s currently a superstar among clean eating advocates, Mill comes from humble beginnings.
”I was really ill, lacking in direction and totally unambitious when I wrote the first recipe on our original website.“
Ella Mills
Her original documentation of her new diet stemmed from a neurological condition called postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS). Ella, who then still went by her maiden name Woodward, was diagnosed with the condition in her second year of studies at St. Andrews University in Scotland. The 21-year-old spent months in the hospital and was put on steroids and beta-blockers with no results. After 18 months in bed watching television, Mills needed a change; so, she started researching nutrition and how others had improved their health through changes in diet. In time, she banned sugar, gluten and animal products from her kitchen.
Mill’s culinary creations struck a chord with a whole generation of millennials interested in cooking. It changed their lives, as well as Ella’s, and Deliciously Ella was born.
The Iceman
Intense cold, a special breathing technique, and personal commitment are the foundation of Wim Hof’s world-famous healing method.
He starts his day with a 30-second cold shower, which lowers blood pressure, improves cardiovascular health and increases the level of oxygen and nutrients in the blood. The Wim Hof breathing technique asks practicers to take deep, controlled breaths in and out. After 30 of such breaths, the body is largely cleared of carbon dioxide, and suddenly, you can hold your breath for several minutes. As more blood is pumped into the heart, the body releases adrenaline at levels higher than those of a first-time bungee jumper. These two practices, combined with a committed mindset, make practicers’ bodies stronger by sheer force of will.
“Reclaiming our self-control makes us strong. This is how I would like to help people around the world get and stay healthy – and happy.”
Wim Hof
Palazzo Fiuggi
Less than an hour’s drive from Rome, sitting above the rolling hills of Lazio, Palazzo Fiuggi shines a bright new light onto the wellness world. This exciting destination mixes high-tech cuisine with medical science to soothe the soul.
The spa-town Fiuggi has been famous since the Middle Ages when Pope Boniface VIII and Michelangelo visited, hoping the healing waters would relieve their gallstones. Now, the impressive new health temple has one ambitious aim: to become the most luxurious and modern medical health and wellness destination in Europe. Built in 1913 as a hotel, the stunning palazzo was the first European hotel with a pool; today, it offers three, in addition to 102 luxuriously furnished rooms and suites, a massive, 6,4583 square foot spa and an impressive, 4,305 square foot gym in the former ballroom.
Heinz Beck—a famous cuisine master and the only chef in Rome decorated with three Michelin stars—runs the kitchen and brings two decades of research on food’s influence on our health.
“Part of our groundbreaking concept: Food is our medicine.”
Heinz Beck
Since proving food’s impact on our insulin levels, medical professionals have invited him to the table, and the Italians have awarded him an honorary doctorate for his research. The Deep Detox program at Palazzo Fiuggi features a whole line of recipes that Beck has carefully developed with Professor David Della Morte Canosci, who holds professorships in internal medicine and neurology.
Curative Architecture
Sometimes, architect Tomoaki Uno leaves out windows entirely. Sometimes, the residents of his houses float in the air like birds. In all his designs, however, the Japanese architect creates energy-giving environments where health is derived from beauty. He builds houses using the Wabi-sabi principle, which is an intuitive experience that is difficult to translate. It takes inspiration from the Japanese tea ceremonies, ikebana and Japanese poetry.
His designs pay special attention architecture’s effects on overall health. Homes can stir emotions, provide a sense of relaxation and awaken self-confidence or pride in ownership. They can be calming or energizing. Uno believes they can also heal, ease suffering and even promote improved wellbeing.

My former boss is from Hooker, Oklahoma( a state that also contains a town called Locust Grove), and as I was researching to prove to myself that it was a real place, I discovered that there are beauty pageants in Hooker, where they crown a Miss Hooker.
To avoid that image becoming a meme I will not be posting proof for the benefit of those girls so you’ll have to trust me on this.
They crown. A Miss Hooker.
It might be a little low brow, but still map porn.

David Allen Crabtree
Missing Since: April 9, 2000
Missing From: Locust Grove, Oklahoma
Sex: Male
Race/Ethnicity: White and Native American (Cherokee)
Missing Age: 13 years old
Current Age: 33 years old
Height and Weight: 5’5’ and 125 lbs.
Distinctive Physical Features: Short dark brown hair at time of disappearance, brown eyes, scar on the center and front of his head, scar on eyebrow (believed to be on the right eyebrow)
Clothing: Last seen wearing grey shirt and black pants
Circumstances of Disappearance: David Allen Crabtree had run away from his Locust Grove, Oklahoma home on April 5, 2000, and was picked up by the police fifteen miles away in Pryor, Oklahoma, drunk, and returned to his parents. His parents sent him to a juvenile center in Claremore in an effort to change his behavior, but the center quickly discharged him back home after he was caught drinking alcohol again.
David’s mother Brenda Miller, stated that David was once a “cheerful and silly” boy but something about him had changed and she did not know what it was. He had been acting out in school and sneaking out at night.
On April 8, two days after he came home, he ran away again. That evening David told his parents and sister he was going to bed and that he loved them. He crawled out of his bedroom window sometime between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. and never returned.
He may have been sighted in the towns of Prylor, Tahlequah and Kenwood, Oklahoma after his disappearance, but that has not been confirmed. He has never been heard from again.
David’s brother believes that David had met some new friends that lived around the area that knew people from a different town and made it farther than he ever could’ve on his own.
Although he had a history of running away, David would always either return home of his own accord or be seen around town with his friends. There has been no solid indication of his whereabouts since April 2000 and the circumstances of his disappearance are unclear.
If you have any information on where David could be, or any place he went after his disappearance, call OSBI at 1-800-522-8017 or email them at [email protected]. If you cannot reach the phone number or email, call the Locust Grove Police Department at (918) 479-8121

SECOND INDIAN CAVALRY BRIGADE As the Civil War progressed in Indian Territory, in late 1863 and early 1864 Maj. Gen. Samuel Bell Maxey, commander of the District of Indian Territory, recruited additional regiments, sought new sources of resupply, and reorganized his Confederate command into two brigades (a third was planned but never effected). The Second Indian Brigade, under Col. Tandy Walker, comprised primarily veteran soldiers drawn from numerous Choctaw and Chickasaw units. In late 1864, for example, it contained the Second Choctaw Regiment, led by Col. Simpson N. Folsom, the First Chickasaw Battalion, under Lt. Col. Lemuel N. Reynolds, the First Choctaw Battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Jackson McCurtain, the First Choctaw and Chickasaw Battalion, under Lt. Col. James Riley, and Capt. George Washington's Reserve Squadron. The brigade participated in the Camden campaign in Arkansas and was commended for its performance at the Battle of Poison Spring in April 1864. During that engagement about 680 members of the command spearheaded an assault against the Union escort of a large supply train. The Federal troops were routed, an artillery battery was overrun, and about two hundred wagons captured. The assault began with shouting of the Indian rebel yell and an aggressive advance. Officers were concerned that the undersupplied and hungry Choctaw soldiers would halt to pillage the captured supplies, but they continued to fight until Texas units moved past them in pursuit of the fleeing Union forces. During the battle the Choctaws also visited retribution on black Union soldiers, whom they had faced with less success the previous summer at the Battle of Honey Springs. After the return of the Second Brigade to Indian Territory and a furlough of its members, the Choctaw troops reaffirmed their loyalty to the Confederacy and reenlisted for the duration of the war on June 23 at Camp Green in the Choctaw Nation. The Confederate supreme commander at Trans-Mississippi Department headquarters had the reenlistment resolutions printed and circulated to inspire loyalty among other Indian peoples in the region. In July the brigade participated in aggressive operations near Fort Smith and were present at the capture of a Union outpost at Massard Prairie on July 27. Offensive activity thereafter was limited until the early fall, when runners were dispatched to bring in all absentees and have them report to their regiments. Once mobilized, however, the command to some extent was still inadequately prepared to enter the field. An ordnance officer's report concluded that the troops were poorly armed and had few guns that were "entirely serviceable." The First Choctaw Regiment was armed with an assortment of weapons, but most members carried Texas rifles. The report complained that these latter firearms "are nothing more than a cheat, badly put together and very unreliable, being liable, a great number, to burst." Other soldiers carried sporting rifles in ill repair, short-range, double-barreled shotguns, or antiquated muskets. During the Second Battle of Cabin Creek in September 1864, Walker's brigade advanced to the Canadian River to cover the extraction of Watie's and Gano's commands from north of the Arkansas River after their successful expedition. Little activity occurred afterwards until the spring of the next year. Finally, in May 1865 the brigade was called one last time into camp. Scouting parties were dispatched to monitor river crossings, and other details spent time bringing in cattle from surrounding areas for use as subsistence for military personnel and for civilian refugees clustered in camps along the Red River. The Second Indian Brigade dissipated shortly thereafter, following the signing of a temporary treaty with U.S. officials by Choctaw principal chief Peter Pitchlynn. Info courtesy: Oklahoma Historical Society Photo of Cherokee Braves flag courtesy Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, National Park Service, Springfield, Mo. About the photo: This flag was carried by Colonel Stand Watie’s Cherokee Mounted Rifles; the body of the flag is the First National pattern flag of the Confederate States; the canton is blue with eleven white stars in a circle, surrounding five red stars representing the Five Civilized Tribes (Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw and Seminole); the large red star in the center represents the Cherokee Nation. “Cherokee Braves” is lettered in red in the center of the white stripe. The 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles was organized in July 1861, under the command of Colonel John Drew, and consisted of full-blood Cherokees. The 2nd Cherokee Mounted Rifles was organized under the command of Colonel Stand Waite, and consisted of Cherokees of mixed blood. Due to the wording of the constitution of the Confederate States of America, a military unit could only be commissioned in one of the states that was part of the Confederacy. Arkansas being the closet to the Indian Territory, the units were formed under the State of Arkansas. The 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles was first formed as the 1st Arkansas Mounted Volunteers [Rifles]. A portion of Drew’s regiment deserted in late 1861; the majority of the remainder deserted following the Confederate defeat at the Battle of Fort Wayne in October 1862. The remaining members of Drew’s regiment combined with Waite’s and were reorganized as the 1st Regiment Cherokee Mounted Rifles; during the Civil War Waite’s regiment participated in twenty-seven major engagements and numerous skirmishes. Most of his activities utilized guerilla warfare tactics. The flag was one of two captured by Lieutenant David Whittaker of Company B, 10th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Infantry at Locust Grove, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, on July 3, 1862.
