Local Master Locksmiths Are Safest
When you’re locked out of your car, home, or office, who do you call? If you’re in a rush, you may choose to hit the quick-fix stores and hope for the best. But if you have a steady stream of customers, your local master locksmith is probably your best bet. Why? Well, because master locksmiths are experts in their field and know how to take apart and reassemble different types of locks. This means they can get you back inside your property as quickly as possible—no matter what type of lock is preventing you from leaving. If this sounds like your situation, make sure to reach out to a local master emergency locksmith today. They will be able to help you get back in control of your life and possessions.
What is a Master Lock?
Master locks are the most popular type of lock in the world. They are used in everything from banks to hospitals to schools. Master locks use a special type of key that is not available to the general public. This makes them one of the safest types of locks to use.
How Master Locks Work
Master locks are one of the most common types of locks in use today. A master lock is a type of lock that can be operated by one person, typically the owner or manager of the premises. Master keys are also sometimes available to allow people with access to the keyhole to open any door or drawer containing a master lock without having to use the code or key that originally came with it.
How to Choose the Right Local Master Lock
Master locks have been around for centuries and are known for their high security. There are many types of master locks, each with its own unique features. It can be tricky to choose the right one for your needs, so let's take a look at some tips.
First, consider the purpose of the lock. A standard door lock is suitable for securing a single door or room, while a cabinet or safe lock is designed to secure multiple items within the same room. Next, consider the type of locking mechanism. Hand-operated deadbolts use simple levers to turn the bolt, while keypadlocks require a numeric code to open. Finally, make sure you get a master key if you plan on rekeying all of your locks. A master key allows you to unlock any other master lock without having to remember a code or fumble with keys.
Conclusion
If you're in a bind and need to get into your home or office, it's important to know who the best local automotive locksmith near me are. Not only will they be able to help quickly and efficiently, but they'll also provide you with a high level of security when it comes to your belongings. If you're ever in a pinch and need someone on your side, make sure to give these professionals a call!

Grand Bank to Sturgeon Bay, (Part 2)
As the sun was setting we pulled off the main Mississippi River into Kaskaskia River. A half mile up the river is the Kaskaskia Lock. This is the only other spot in the Mississippi to pull off the river to get out of the current and away from barges. The lockmaster said we could tie off to the outside wall of the lock. We were told we could step off the boat, but not leave the lock wall. No problem!
Tumblr media
The entire wall was taken by multiple “loopers”. They were all sitting around in folding chairs sharing stories, “docktails” and appetizers. A nice couple very graciously allowed us to tie up to their boat. Since we had already been where these “loopers” were heading, I gave them some information on the anchorages to the south. So it was a win-win for all.
Tumblr media
Next morning the fog was pretty thick. One boat headed out at daybreak. Shortly afterwards we heard a “Security” call on the VHF radio. They were blind and in heavy fog, relying on radar for navigation. I chose to stay for another 30 minutes allowing the fog to burn off. We were only able to get a couple of miles upriver before a solid fog bank was in sight. We spent another 40 minutes waiting for it to burn off. Fog builds up in the river bends where there are hills keeping the wind from dissipating the fog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, mornings were chilly. Notice the front window is open so we can see through it with heavy dew.
Tumblr media
Above is the fog bank, we had to wait on.
Tumblr media
This was an interesting sight. Along the banks are multiple gravel operations where huge dump trucks back up to either barges or conveyer belts that lead to a barge. Here is a back hoe grabbing a bucket of river water and washing down the conveyor belt in between dump trucks. The operator was very talented. Not sure about you, but I can’t imagine waking up in the morning and knowing I would be running a back hoe back and forth, back and forth for an eight hour shift.
Tumblr media
This is the famous “Hoppie’s Marina”, one of only two places to find fuel on this 217 mile stretch of Mississippi. And the only thing loosley considered a marina in this stretch. Started In the 1930’s(?). It is a barge with metal building on it. Downstream is a floating dock that can handle 3 boats on each side of it. We did not have reservations, but we arrived towards the afternoon shut down time. So they said we could dock at the fuel dock as long as we left first thing in the morning.
I thought we were going to dock at the forward section of the barge that is only a foot or so above the water. At the last minute I was directed me to the higher sided barge. All of the fenders had been tied down near the water line. Fighting the 2-3 kt current, I banged into the barge and made contact with the toe rail up high on the hull. WHAM! Ugh!!!
So I have now damaged the owners pristine boat. Lesson learned, have some fenders high as well as low.
Each evening while “loopers” are heading south, the daughter gives a presentation on where to anchor heading down to the Ohio River. This is a tradition that started with her mother, Fern, doing it in the past. This is a highly attended event every evening. While we were there, I saw the dockmaster wrestling a very thick hawser down to the barge from the shore. So I went out to help him. He was concerned that the while barge and all of the boats tied to it would break away and float downstream. So the two of us, warped the hawser to a large cleat on the barge. I did not sleep that well that night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the daughter who gave the presentation. Looking back from our boat. You can see a sailboat tied off of the side of a boat behind us.
After leaving Hoppie’s early the next morning, we enter a very commercial barge area of the river. There are multiple barges anchored along both sides of the river. Tow boats zipping about, multiple no wake zones making it a slog to get past St. Louis.
Tumblr media
Finally we made it to Alton Marina late in the afternoon. We did two locks this day. Chain of Rocks Lock with a lift of 12 ft. and Mel Price lock and dam lifting us 23 ft. This is a first class marina which actually has a pool inside of the floating docks. Nancy did laundry at the marina. I gave a short presentation to south bound “loopers”. One of the loopers asked where I was from. At some point in the conversation, my father and his record setting sailboat came up. He surprisingly said, I have been by his house several times and always salute his Marine Corp flag. Small world! Nancy was not going to be able to finish the trip due to a doctors appointment coming up. So I invited a fellow sailor we met in the Bahamas to finish the trip as paid crew. Dave drove from his home in Florence, AL. Nancy used his car for the last grocery run of the trip.
Tumblr media
We pumped out the waste water tanks the next morning and headed north. Below is a photo of the “American Symphony” a river cruise ship. Also a photo of Dave getting a feel for the helm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had finally made it out of the major towboat and barge area and were now on the Illinois River. We anchored below Twin Islands off the side of the main channel. There was a gentleman on shore who was inviting us to shore, if we wanted. Next morning we were talking to him some more while waiting on the fog to lift. When we told him we were from Islamorada, it turns out he pulled Crawfish traps here for several years. We had mentioned that we had stayed at Alton Marina the night before. Turns out he was at “several of Karen’s weddings”. She was the owner who we had met at the marina. Small world!
Tumblr media
Here is a photo of a tow boat and barge passing us while at anchor below Twin Islands. They have a small yellow light on the front edges of the forward barges.
Tumblr media
Below is a photo of Nancy at the helm heading for a “lift bridge”. We were able to pass under these with a couple of feet to spare. The first time we snuck under one. I had Nancy at the helm, inching under the bridge. I had unzipped the Bimini over our head and was balancing on the rail with my head sticking up. Trying to see if our mast would clear. It did, but was still very stressful.
Tumblr media
Today was a 67 mile day, with us anchoring at Sincarnet Island. After waiting on the fog to lift, we started northbound. Three powered gliders came by us early. As cold as it was they had to be bundled up. If they lost their engine and ditched in the Illinois river, they would have died. Three weeks later a powered glider pilot went missing in the Missouri River.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above are photos of “light barges” and another lift bridge. The river is so low tow boats are required to run reduced barges. See how high these barges are out of the water.
Tumblr media
We spent the night tied to the fuel dock of the Spring Valley Boat Club after a respectable 57 mile day. Interesting place, it has a bar up on shore. Members come down and pump the fuel. Look at the tall “I-beam” in the foreground. Towards the top is a sign showing the high water mark. There was 4 ft. of water in the bar.
Tumblr media
Here is David being a deck mate. Nancy spent a couple of days showing him the ropes. At this lock there are no floating bollards. Both Nancy and David are holding us close to the lock wall as we ascend in the lock.
Tumblr media
Here is the anchorage that night. We were the last boat in. As we were coming in someone said, “Watch out, there’s a snag”. Sure enough, there was a piece pf wood sticking a couple of inches out of the water. We anchored for the night, deploying a stern anchor. When I prepared to leave in the morning. I ran around the hull with a flashlight looking for the snag and any other ones that drifted in overnight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look closely behind the stern as the sun sets. There is the snag 20’ behind the boat. It was in the same place in the morning.
Tumblr media
Another great meal being prepared by Nancy. Note the aluminum window shade behind the stove top. It keeps any splatters from getting on the curtain.
I had called the Peoria lockmaster ahead of us the afternoon before and asked if it was a good idea to anchor below Duck Island. He flatly said, “NO!”. So when I went by, I took a photo of it. Below is the photo, you can see the whole creek bed is dry enough to walk across.
Tumblr media
As we waited for a towboat to come out of Peoria Lock, I eased over to the wide area where the river comes around the lock. The depth should have been 11 ft. and we draw 4 feet. But we ended up stuck aground. We notified the lockmaster we were clear of the chute but stuck. Dave walked around the boat with a boat hook. There was no deep side. It appeared to be about 4 feet around the entire boat. My depth finder was reading 11 feet. I could not figure it out. I had both Nancy and Dave walk back and forth on the stern trying to rock the boat while I gunned the engine. I could not get the boat off. There are no TowBoat US on these rivers to help stuck boaters.
The next drop of the lock had two boats came out of the chute. One boat was another trawler similar to us and a small john boat towing a second john boat. The trawler offered to pull us off. But he could not get close enough to grab a line. The only john boat that we ever saw was perfect to carry a line to the trawler.
Nancy had him take a series of lines that Dave had tied together over to the trawler. Between him pulling us and my gunning the engine we were able to get free. Below is a photo of where we were stuck the anchor symbol was where we were.
Tumblr media
So we finally made it through the Peoria lock. Below is photo as we lifted up enough to look over the lock wall.
Tumblr media
The locks were built and are run by the US Army Corp of Engineers. Check out the logo over the door of the building. In the foreground is a yellow metal cube a little over a foot wide. These are placed up and down the lock. Each has a line attached to it. In case someone fell in the water between a boat and the wall. These could be lowered to wedge between the wall and boat, preventing them from being crushed. Since it is flat on the bottom an does not. Have a wedge shape I doubt it would work.
Tumblr media
That night we anchored off of the Peoria dock well out of the channel. The free dock is pretty rough. I watched a trawler move three times. The water is to low to get into Illinois Valley Yacht Club (IVY). The high light was the beautifully lit up bridge.
Tumblr media
This is one of the more tow boats we have seen. They are popular on the upper Illinois river. The cab can lower down to go under bridges without having to wait for the bridge to open. Then it can raise up to see over top of the barges it is pushing. Check out the ladder that goes to the cab. It slides up and down the top of the towboat. So sometimes it a gentle slope up to the cab. Sometimes it is much more vertical.
This is the end of Part 2. See part 3 where Nancy leaves, then my first mate panics and threatened to hit me.

New OC introduction (at long long last) : The Lockmaster
Okay so-
No need to keep it up any further ; here’s my new kid. Better get belted up because it’s rather dark. You’ve been warned.
Tumblr media
Originally created as a ‘CTCD’ OC, Faith can nonetheless be fitted in any sort of context. But here’s it’s origins concept. (WARNING ANGST, CHILD DEATH & ABUSE MENTIONS)
I picture them to be the “Forgotten Antagonist” of a Courage episode which would have never made it to the show, like ‘creepypasta-style’. Here’s the pitch.
It is the ghost of a child who has been assignated by the US governement -in the context of a repopulating strategy- to the previous owner of the Bagges farm. Thing is, as it occured said owner was a cruel son of a bitch, and Faith got basically treated as a slave and suffered horrible treatments, to a point of madness where the guy kept them locked and chained up in a secret ‘double basement’ (where they straight up knew hell); until one day the guy decided to simply never come back up again at all, and Faith died neglected, of cold, chained up in this dark cage. Since they died an unfair death, they went on as a ghost, and their grudge cursed the farm (which may or may not explain why the farm is so exposed to harmful, supernatural events) ; but were still bound to the basement, until someone would find their body- and could not rest until the guy has paid and they’d be given a proper burial.
Tumblr media
Years after the Bagges purchased the deserted farm (asshole had ran away because he had many debts), and Eustace accidentally found the buried trapdoor to the secret basement -and discovered Faith’s corpse. Faith thought their misery was finally over and had a bolt of hope ; except Eustace, being Eustace, refused to have anything to do with that and locked back the cell as if nothing has happened. Faith ? Well, they... took it extremely bad. Like, REAL bad. They got absolutely furious. That’s the thing. The condition of finding their body has been fulfilled, so now they could finally roam around. And they were resolute to torment the Bagges into giving them their post-mortem respects.
Now, here’s the thing : Faith’s powers and abilities are based entirely on locks, and chains -control and summoning, due to their death circumstances. This is what makes them, the Lockmaster -the ‘lost episode’’s title ; and also what makes them frankly dangerous, has they are prompt to demonstrate to the Bagges, and Courage.
Tumblr media
Basically the episode then consist in Faith wreaking havoc and terror, Courage having to confront them and find out what’s wrong, explaination done to the Bagges (and severe Eustace scolding when Muriel finds out), the perpetrator gets what he f***ing deserves and after the burial and everything, Faith finally can rest in peace, after thanking tearful Courage, and everyone’s happy, except Eustace and the guy. The end and everything.
Now, that’s what would have happened, if the episode ever came out. But it never did. And in things’s currency, it’s Bianca who finally finds out about Faith, in the deserted house, after poor little thing has been staying stuck, as an Unused Character, bound to the rough of the never used hidden cell basement. And awoken, and finally Concretualized by Bianca’s powers, as her new protégé.
Tumblr media
-Flat design concept-
Tumblr media
[Some additional information about Faith.]
Now, to insist on that (I can’t emphasize it enough), its powers are entirely based on locks and chains control and summoning, which means they can not only lock their foes away, but also cancel people’s abilities, certains attacks, and even, with special chains (like the ones in Luigi’s Mansion 2, for reference) lock away magical abilities of/or supernatural beings. They can as well totally kill, even though they don’t like to, by strangulation, quartering or dragging in someplace extremely inhospitable.
So yeah. It’s Faith, or Lockmaster, to you. Scaredy cat, too serviceable, weary of people reactions and pacifist, and yet ready to break bones and minds in a vengeful mindset at any abusing sight. Be gentle with them, but don’t underestimate them. You’d be sorry. Oh, yes, you’d be sorry.
That’s one of the few characters with which I feel could actually do something.
