Choosing the Right Concrete Companies Near Greenville for Your Project
Tumblr media
Often, the choice of material and services that are used in home improvement or constructions determines the success of the project. One component that is usually neglected is concrete. Whether you want to install a new driveway or pathway, construct a new beautiful sidewalk, or wish to install a decorative concrete patio, it is essential to look for a reliable concrete companies near Greenville. Due to the large number of players currently in the market, it is necessary that anyone making a decision on which type to use does so in a manner that is most suited to his/her wants, financial capabilities, and general taste.
King Concrete is a company that focuses on a number of concrete services and we know that your home is one of your biggest assets. This blog will explain why selecting a local concrete company is crucial, the advantages of concrete patios, and how to select the right contractors for the job.
Why Choose Local Concrete Companies Near Greenville?
Choosing a local concrete company offers numerous advantages, including:
1. Knowledge of Local Regulations
Local concrete companies such as King Concrete are well aware of the statutes and ordinance governing construction in your region. It also helps you avoid legal discrepancies often practiced in that particular region and can be costly to your project.
2. Quick and Efficient Service
Local companies often are also more nimble and can provide service more quickly. Since they are local, they can easily evaluate your site, give a quote and set your project in progress not in weeks but in days.
3. Community Reputation
If you choose a local company, you will be able to rely on recommendations from other people in your community. It will be easier for you to get first-hand information regarding the company’s credibility and efficiency from people in your region.
The Benefits of Concrete Patios
In the list of concrete projects that you can embark on, concrete patios are some of the most common ones. Here are some of the benefits of opting for a concrete patio:
1. Durability
The most appreciated features of concrete are the great strength and durability. A good concrete patio has the ability to stand the vagaries of weather and is also able to handle a lot of traffic especially if it is to be used for outdoor activities. Wood on the other hand is susceptible to rotting, warping and insect infestation hence your patio will not remain attractive after some time.
2. Low Maintenance
Another advantage of concrete patios is that they require little or no maintenance at all. Concrete or polymer concrete, for instance, does not have to be sanded, painted, stained or sealed like wooden or composite material. This makes concrete ideal for use by homeowners who may not find time to carry out frequent maintenance on the floors.
3. Versatility
Each pattern and texture of the concrete can be shaped as well as painted depending on your personality. Concrete can be tinted to give it a plain gray appearance or it can be imprinted with a stamped design that mimics the look of natural stone, making it easy to improve the appearance of your outdoor area.
Finding the Right Concrete Patio Builders Near Me
Tumblr media
When searching for concrete patio builders, consider the following tips to ensure you choose the best company for your project:
1. Do Your Research
Search for concrete companies in the surrounding area of Greenville which have a good reputation and predominantly favorable feedback. Customer experience can be gained from websites, social media and local business directories.
2. Request Quotes
Make sure to contact several companies to get the price quotes for your project. This way you will be able to glimpse at the most appropriate prices as well as the kind of services being offered. Always enquire about the material they use and whether they have dealt with concrete work before.
3. Check Portfolios
Look through the portfolios of the contractors what they offer to judge their level of work. Most of the well-established companies will display the works they have done on their websites as a glimpse of their work.
Concrete Services in Fayetteville NC
If you are planning to embark on a concrete project but you are not in Greenville then you should also consider concrete services in Fayetteville NC. There are many well established firms within the region who can provide various services for residential as well as commercial purposes.
Here are some typical services offered by concrete companies in Fayetteville:
Concrete Driveways: Long lasting and easy to maintain driveway surfaces can improve the appearance of your home while giving your cars a firm and solid ground to stand on.
Concrete Sidewalks: Properly built sidewalks enhance safety and are an additional value to your property.
Decorative Concrete: This service involves the use of stamped, stained or polished concrete that adds beauty to any outdoor area.
Foundation Work: Some concrete companies offer foundation services to guarantee that the foundation of your home is well laid.

🇵🇸 From BDS:
This year’s Israeli Apartheid Week will be the most important since IAW was launched 20 years ago! With the ongoing Nakba at its height, Israel is carrying out the world’s first ever live-streamed genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza while it continues to entrench its 75-year-old settler-colonial apartheid regime against all Indigenous Palestinians. Over the past few months, people around the world have carried out inspiring actions building people power to end state, corporate and institutional complicity in Israel’s #GazaGenocide and contribute to the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice, and equality. With the failure of the international system, under US and Western hegemony, on full display, we will organize IAW throughout the month of March to bring justice from below. Save the date - March 1st - March 30th; an entire month of action and BDS mobilizations to end complicity in genocide, build grassroots power towards liberation and the dismantling of Israel’s settler-colonial apartheid regime. Let’s make this year’s IAW our most impactful ever!
In anticipation of the upcoming Israeli Apartheid Week, BDS has called for an escalation of our boycott campaigns.
To find out how you can join a specific BDS campaign, or how you can contribute towards IAW, you can use the search function on their website to find a BDS-affiliated organization in your country.
Tumblr media
If you and your organization have an event planned for Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW), you can register them with BDS here.
🇵🇸 For individuals unaffiliated with an org, you can still support and participate in IAW by:
Boycotting all products from Israel and from companies profiting off the occupation of Palestine. Here are the official BDS targets. For a more extensive list of products, check in with one of the BDS affiliated organizations in your country (they might tell you, for instance, what processed food items at your local grocery store should be avoided).
Share information about BDS on social media, with friends and family, and with your local community.
For BDS targeted brands, refrain from making or sharing any content that helps that company's outreach and branding. No more memes mentioning the brand, no pictures showing their logo, no more free advertising. Boycotting here isn't just about the loss you as a costumer can inflict on the company by not purchasing their product, it's also about damaging the brand's reputation, and limiting their customer outreach.
I highly encourage you to join a BDS-affiliated org, but if for whatever reason you can't, then these are concrete and actionable steps you can take.
Again, for more information about BDS and Israeli Apartheid Week, you check in with the official BDS website.

Yandere! Yakuza x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been plagued by this idea for a while, so let me know what you think! This is just the character introduction. Your new landlord is a Yakuza boss, and his scary looking underling has been tasked to deal with your tenant needs! Although he didn't expect you to be this cute. And you didn't expect him to be this unhinged.
Content: female reader, violence, mentions of stalking
[Part 2] | [Yakuza Masterlist]
Tumblr media
This was the last straw.
You're angrily stuffing your suitcase with necessities before the moving company arrives. Each glimpse around the cramped apartment fills you with outrage, as you're still heavily shaken from the events of last night.
You first begun to suspect you might have a stalker when you found your outer lock with a fresh dent in it. You then picked a small scrap from the ground nearby and assumed it was leftover damage, but upon further inspection you discovered, disgusted, that it was part of your peephole. Someone must've fiddled with your door a fair amount. You tried to approach your immediate neighbors for help, but they either refused to answer your persistent knocks or downright scurried away when faced with your questions. They didn't want to deal with a foreigner.
You tried to put it behind you. The police advised you to be cautions, as there was nothing else they could do without concrete evidence. And thankfully, you had several peaceful weeks following the incident. Last night you were suddenly awakened by faint scratches coming from your balcony. You groggily got up and wondered if your recently added bird feeder was attracting nocturnal visitors. You got up without turning on the light, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious animal. As you pulled the drape, however, you were met with the large frame of a man plucking your laundry in a hurry.
A panicked scream erupted from the depths of your chest and you slapped the light switch, erratically searching for your phone. By the time you dialed emergency, the intruder had vanished. You were sobbing against the wall under the fake reassurances of the operator, eyeing the sliding door that had no lock. Had he wished, the masked man could've easily invited himself in. You were at the mercy of a lunatic and no one seemed to be impressed by your situation.
No more. Ideally you'd go back to your home country and forget about your plans to build yourself a life in Japan. What were you even thinking? A lonely girl, low on funds, signing a contract to be relocated across the ocean for work. You barely scraped the first months of a mandatory year.
You close your suitcase with a satisfying click and on your way out you wipe the table of all the newspaper clippings. You've been scanning the potential offers on the market. The ones within your budget, of course, which means you don't have to worry about being picky. Until you find a new place, your belongings can wait in storage. Dusty furniture is a better prospect than waking up with a pervert looming over you.
By the time the clock hits evening hours, you're sipping on your iced coffee with a defeated sigh. Most of the cheap apartments seem to be given to locals. Not outsiders like you. At least they spared you of the false hopes and curtly told you to not expect any call back, so you can swiftly move on to the next circled address. You pull out the crumbled sheet of paper from your pocket. Reading over your list of crossed out lines like this deflates you greatly. At the very bottom lies your final hope: the ad you'd stumbled upon this morning was too good to be true and the realtor was available for viewing at any time, so you're almost certain it's some sort of scam. Yet you can't afford to skip it, can you? You stand up, pat your jeans and take a deep breath in.
As you check your phone to confirm the location, you begin to doubt your decision. It's hard to believe no other potential renters have showed up. The apartment is in a convenient area, very close to public transport, at a great price, on what looks like a busy street. Isn't it the dream? So why? You glance around, examining the surroundings. The shops are bustling with people. You try to come up with possible explanations, when a deep voice startles you.
"You must be (Y/N), right? You sure are easy to spot."
You turn around to greet the person. Although the second you spot him, you take an unconscious step back. You'd expected a middle aged man dressed in formal attire with a shy bow and clumsy movements. The one standing before you resembles none of that. He's imposingly tall, with a muscular built and slicked back hair. You can discern the tattoos peeking out from under the rolled up sleeves. His face has multiple deep scars and you can only assume that the pale, discolored eye that's transfixed in one direction is a fake made of glass. One might call him handsome, if you're into the kind of appearance you see in documentaries about the mafia.
"Y-you're the landlord?" You stutter, immediately covering your mouth and regretting your lack of tact.
"Nuh uh, Boss sent me to deal with it." He flashes you a genuine grin, completely unperturbed by your offhanded implication. "I'm Daitou."
He continues towards the entrance and you follow behind, too awkward to back down now. He describes the living quarters with surprising enthusiasm. If you were to close your eyes and disregard his heavy Kansai accent, you could very well be convinced it's a professional real estate agent hard at work.
"Excuse me for asking, but..." Once he finishes his marketing presentation, you cannot help the increasing anxiety. "What's the catch?"
"Huh?"
"For something like this to be so cheap...and no one else being interested...may I be frank and ask what's wrong with it? Please understand, I just left my previous apartment because of a stalker. I don't want to be packing again anytime soon."
"Well, isn't it obvious?" He searches your gaze for a moment, before gasping as if remembering something. "Wait, you're a foreigner, so I guess you don't know. Ah, that explains it."
He lets out a hearty laugh, satisfied with his conclusion.
"You didn't notice anything strange outside?"
You ponder his question before slowly shaking your head in denial.
"Really? A bunch of heavily tattooed guys with family pins on their suits...This is a yakuza quarter. Our Family owns most businesses here. But lately we've had a lot of police on our backs, ya know? Bound to happen when the street is swarming with us. So Boss had this great idea - he's smart like that, ya know, I've never been the bright one - anyways, he suggested we rent some of our housing to regular civilians. Less suspicious that way."
He crosses his arms and nods to himself proudly.
"I myself think it's a great deal. You won't find anything cheaper for the kind of stuff you're getting. All you have to do is, you know, mind your business. If some weasel questions you, no Sir, you haven't seen or heard anything suspicious. That's all."
You can only stare wide eyed, somewhat taken aback by his honesty.
"Uh...Are you sure you were supposed to tell me all of this? I feel we're skipping some steps before admitting to organized crime."
Now it's his turn to consider your inquiry.
"Probably not, but I'm not good with words. You look like a smart girl, so I thought I won't sugarcoat it. I'm sure you already know that if you leave and rat us out I'll be throwing your chopped up remains in the nearby river. Or would you want to be shipped home instead? I'm a nice guy like that, hehe."
You return a crooked smile and purse your lips in the process. You'd rather not learn the percentage of truth in his humor anytime soon.
"You mentioned a stalker? I can guarantee you he won't follow here, miss. And if he's that dumb to wander on our turf, well, me and my guys always hang around the block. Leave him to me and I'll bring you his teeth in a box."
"I-...Why teeth of all the things?"
"Just easier to pull out, ya know." He winks and reaches for his back pocket, revealing an old pair of pliers with childish delight. "See, I'm a bit of a handyman, so I always have some tools on me."
Strangely enough, you're not as terrified as you would expect from someone in your shoes. Certainly your knees are weaker when compared to your pre-encounter state, but there's something about his demeanor that doesn't feel malicious or threatening. Like conversing with an old friend at a pub.
"Will I truly not get in trouble? You guys do your thing and I'm 100% not involved?"
"You have my word." And with that, as if closing the sale of his lifetime, he confidently slaps a stack of papers on the nearby counter and hands you a pen. "You already have my number, if anyone pisses you off just hit me up and I'll be at your service. Boss left everything to me."
No perverts and less of your monthly allowance going towards rent. Maybe it's your despair talking, but you've been persuaded nonetheless. You scribble your name in the designated field and shove the documents towards your new acquaintance.
"Pleasure doing business with you, miss (Y/N)." He cheerfully dangles the keys before dropping them in your hand and heads for the door.
"Oh, is shipping included in the rent?"
He stops and turns to you, mildly confused.
"You said if I mess up you'll ship my remains home. Do I pay for the postage myself, or is that part of the monthly tax?" You ask with a cheeky grin.
His eyes narrow in delight and you can tell he's greatly amused by your words.
"Nah, consider it a gift from me. Gotta treat a lady nice, 'specially if it's a pretty one like you."
And with that, you're alone again. You look around the room, trying to visualize your new home. It's already getting dark outside. Now that you've had the situation explained to you, you can definitely see what Daitou meant. There's the occasional police officer patrolling the street, and plenty of men dressed in similar fashion walking in small groups.
"And?"
Outside the building, a young man is leaning against the wall with a cigarette in his mouth. He seems to have been waiting for Daitou.
"It's done. Some cute foreigner is moving in." He lifts an arm in a flexing motion, patting his bicep in a congratulatory manner. "Boss will be surprised, eh?"
"You're fucking with me."
"What? You wanna go back upstairs and check?" He responds, appalled. "Might've taken longer than expected, but I told ya I can manage!"
"Are you sure you didn't threaten her or something? I still don't know what Boss was thinking when he asked a nutcase like you to deal with the civvies."
"Hey hey hey, I may not be all fancy speaking like you or Kazuya, but I'm not dumb. Matter of fact, she already signed the papers."
"I never said you're dumb. Just batshit crazy." The young man sighs and flicks his cigarette butt away, stomping on it.
"Let's go and tell the others."

𝓻oom 𝓯or 𝓶ore ??
pairing : dean winchester x female!reader warnings : food mentions, forced proximity, frenemies to lovers, crying, hurt / comfort, offhand comments, fluff, kiss wc : 3.3k a/n : hello supernatural fandom🙋‍♀️ i’m only on season two yet sorry if anything seems off, also taglist form here (i’ve finally added dean + sam)
Tumblr media
the diner was loud, the clatter of plates and hum of conversation filling the space as dean leaned back in the booth, looking way too pleased with himself. he’d already finished his burger, one arm slung casually over the back of the seat while his other hand nursed a cup of coffee. sam, as usual, was glued to his laptop, scrolling through case notes like his life depended on it.
you stabbed a fry into a pool of ketchup on your plate, glancing between the two brothers. "so, what’s the deal with this case? anything concrete yet, or are we still chasing theories?"
sam didn’t look up, too focused on the screen. dean, on the other hand, smirked and tapped the edge of his mug. "chasing theories, sweetheart. that’s the fun part."
"yeah, nothing screams fun like getting blindsided by a vetala or a skinwalker because someone didn’t do their homework," you shot back, arching a brow.
dean grinned, the kind that always made you want to smack it right off his face. "don’t worry, i’ll save your ass. again."
"oh, please," you scoffed, shaking your head. "the only thing you save is your own ego."
sam finally chimed in, his voice calm as he flipped his laptop around to show the two of you a map. "four victims, all found in their homes, all with the same m.o. blood drained, no signs of forced entry. we’re looking at a vetala, but the pattern doesn’t quite fit. usually, they target travelers, not locals."
"so, what’s the plan?" you asked, leaning forward.
"we’ll hit the victims’ homes tomorrow," sam said, shutting the laptop. "for tonight, there’s a motel nearby. we can regroup there."
"works for me," dean said, already sliding out of the booth.
the drive to the motel was tense but quiet, aside from dean insisting on blasting some alice in chains track while you stared out the window, trying to ignore the knot of exhaustion twisting in your chest. by the time you pulled into the parking lot, all you wanted was a shower and some peace.
"i’ll grab the rooms," sam offered, heading toward the front desk.
dean stretched as he got out of the impala, giving you a sideways glance. "bet the rooms are gonna be just as glamorous as last time."
"as long as they’re clean, i don’t care," you muttered, slinging your bag over your shoulder.
a few minutes later, sam returned, holding two keys. his expression was almost apologetic as he handed one to dean.
"is there a problem?" you asked as you approached him.
sam glanced back at you, looking sheepish. "there are only two rooms left."
"that’s fine," dean said easily. "i’ll take one, and you two can share."
"not happening," you and sam said in unison.
dean held up his hands, grinning. "okay, okay, relax. i’ll bunk with sam."
"actually," sam said, cutting in, "i already grabbed a key. figured i’d get first pick since i’m the one doing all the work."
your jaw dropped. "are you kidding me?"
"sorry," sam said, though he didn’t sound sorry at all. "but hey, at least you’re stuck with dean and not some random stranger, right?"
you glared at him, but he just flashed you a smug grin and gave a quick peck on the cheek before disappearing into his room, a soft chuckle coming from his direction.
"great," you muttered.
dean jingled the remaining key in his hand, smirking. "c’mon, sweetheart, don’t look too excited. i don’t bite. unless you’re into that." he muttered, winking at you.
"don’t call me sweetheart," you muttered, snatching the key from him and stomping toward the room.
"aw, come on," dean said, following behind. "it’s not that bad. i’m great company."
you didn’t dignify that with a response, shoving the door open and flicking on the light. the room was standard cheap motel fare: scratchy carpet, ugly wallpaper, and one double bed smack in the middle.
"of course," you muttered under your breath.
"well," dean said, tossing his duffel onto the bed, "this’ll be cozy."
"you’re sleeping on the floor," you said flatly, dropping your bag onto the chair.
he scoffed, already kicking off his boots. "yeah, that’s not happening. bad for my back."
"your back?" you repeated, turning to glare at him. "what about my back?"
he grinned, flopping onto the bed like he owned it. "you’ll survive."
"you’re unbelievable," you muttered, running a hand through your hair.
"relax, sweetheart," he said, propping himself up on his elbows. "it’s just one night. unless you’re worried about me stealing the covers."
"i’m worried about strangling you in your sleep," you muttered, grabbing your toiletries and heading for the bathroom.
his laughter followed you, low and smug.
when you returned, showered and slightly less irritated, dean was still sprawled across the bed, flipping through channels on the ancient tv.
"move," you said, gesturing for him to scoot over.
he rolled onto his side, patting the spot next to him. "plenty of room, baby. don’t be shy."
you froze at the word, heat creeping up your neck. "don’t call me that."
"what? you don’t like pet names?" he asked, smirking.
"not from you," you snapped, climbing into bed as far from him as possible.
he chuckled, clearly enjoying himself. "suit yourself, princess."
you turned your back to him, willing yourself to sleep. but after a few minutes of silence, dean spoke again, his tone lighter now.
"you know, for someone who acts so tough, you sure get wound up over the little things."
"what’s that supposed to mean?" you asked, not turning around.
"just saying," he said, and you could hear the grin in his voice. "you’re always trying so hard to prove something. it’s like you’re afraid if you’re not perfect, you’ll just... fade into the background or something."
the words hit harder than you expected, and you felt your chest tighten.
"wow," you said quietly, your voice colder now. "thanks for the psychoanalysis, dr. winchester."
"hey, i didn’t mean - " he started, his voice accompanied by a hint of amusement.
"forget it," you said, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself.
dean didn’t say anything else, and after a while, you heard the tv click off. but sleep didn’t come easily, the sting of his words lingering long after the room went dark.
the room was too quiet. the kind of quiet that made every little sound seem deafening: the creak of the mattress springs when dean shifted, the low hum of the heater kicking on, the rustle of the thin motel sheets.
you lay on your side, staring at the wall. the pillow beneath your head felt stiff and lumpy, but that wasn’t what was keeping you awake. it was his words - flippant, thoughtless, but sharp enough to slice through you like a blade.
"you’re always trying so hard to prove something... like you’re afraid if you’re not perfect, you’ll just fade into the background or something."
dean didn’t get it. he never did. it wasn’t just about proving something. it was about survival. you couldn’t afford to screw up - not in your line of work, not with the stakes so high. the constant pressure to be sharp, to be reliable, to be good enough - it wasn’t a choice. it was a necessity.
and then dean had to come along and throw it in your face like some stupid joke.
you rolled onto your back, staring at the ceiling. the tears prickling at your eyes were unwelcome, hot and stubborn. you didn’t cry often - not over things like this. but tonight, with exhaustion weighing heavy on your shoulders and his words still echoing in your head, it was harder to hold back.
on the other side of the bed, dean was still awake. you could hear his steady breathing, the faint rustle of fabric as he adjusted his position.
"you asleep?" he muttered, voice low in the dark.
you didn’t answer.
"look, i didn’t mean anything by what i said earlier," he added after a moment, his tone uncharacteristically hesitant. "i was just messing around."
still, you said nothing.
he sighed, and you could picture him scrubbing a hand over his face in frustration. "fine. be mad. whatever."
you turned back onto your side, curling into yourself as quietly as you could. you just wanted him to stop talking, stop prying at the wound he’d opened.
a tear slipped free despite your best efforts, quickly followed by another. you pressed your face into the pillow, hoping the darkness would swallow your silent crying.
but then dean spoke again, and his words hit you like a brick.
"are you hugging the damn pillow?"
your breath hitched. you weren’t hugging the pillow exactly, but you had one arm curled around it for some semblance of comfort. you stiffened, waiting for him to make another joke.
and he did.
"what, you need a cuddle buddy?" his voice was teasing, laced with that stupid humor he always used to deflect.
"shut up, dean," you said, your voice cracking in a way that made you wince.
the laughter in his voice faded immediately. "wait... are you - "
"don’t," you snapped, your throat tight. "just don’t."
the room went dead silent. for a moment, you thought maybe he’d dropped it, that he’d roll over and go to sleep. but then the bed shifted, and you felt him sit up.
"hey," he said softly. "what’s going on?"
you shook your head, not trusting yourself to speak.
"come on, talk to me," he pressed, his voice gentle now. "did i say something? because if i did..." he trailed off, exhaling a long breath. "damn it. i’m sorry, okay? i’m an idiot. we both know that."
you let out a shaky breath, wiping at your face with the sleeve of your shirt. "it’s fine. just forget it."
"yeah, no," he said, moving closer. "you don’t get to say ‘it’s fine’ when you’re over there crying into the pillow."
"i’m not crying into the pillow," you muttered, your voice muffled.
"baby," he said, the word soft and warm and startlingly tender. "you can’t lie to me. i can hear it."
your breath hitched at the nickname. it wasn’t one he used often, and when he did, it wasn’t like this - low and soothing, like he was trying to piece you back together.
"just drop it," you said, curling tighter into yourself.
"not happening," he said firmly. you felt the bed dip as he leaned closer, his hand brushing your shoulder. "look at me."
"no."
"please," he said, his voice quieter now, almost pleading.
you hesitated before slowly rolling onto your back, your arms still wrapped protectively around yourself. his face was close, the dim light from the streetlamp outside casting soft shadows over his features.
"what did i say?" he asked, his brows furrowed in concern.
you bit your lip, the words sticking in your throat, tears rolling down your flushed cheeks. but the way he was looking at you - like he actually cared - made it harder to hold them back.
"you said..." you started, then stopped, your chest tightening. "you said i’m trying too hard. like... like i’m afraid i’m not good enough."
his face fell, and you saw the exact moment he realized how much his words had hurt. "oh, sweetheart," he murmured, his hand finding yours. "i didn’t mean that. i swear. i was just being a jackass, like always."
you shook your head, blinking back fresh tears. "it’s not just that, dean. it’s... everything. the way you always joke around, like nothing’s serious. like none of this matters. but it does. it matters to me."
he didn’t say anything for a moment, his thumb brushing over your knuckles in slow, soothing circles. "you’re right," he said finally. "it does matter. and i should’ve thought about that before running my mouth."
his honesty caught you off guard, and you glanced up at him, your defenses wavering.
"you’re good at what you do," he said, his voice steady. "better than good. you’re smart and tough and... and hell, i don’t even know how you put up with me half the time. but you do. and i..." he hesitated, his green eyes searching yours. "i don’t want you to think i don’t see that. or that i don’t appreciate you. because i do."
your breath caught, and for a moment, the only sound in the room was the faint hum of the heater.
"dean," you whimpered, your voice barely above a whisper.
he leaned closer, his hand moving to cup your cheek. "i mean it, baby," he said softly. "you mean a lot to me."
the words hung in the air, heavy with something unspoken. before you could second-guess yourself, you tilted your head slightly, and his lips brushed against yours - tentative, testing.
when he felt you kiss him back, his hand slid to the back of your neck, pulling you closer. the kiss deepened, slow and unhurried, like he was trying to say everything he couldn’t put into words. his hands found their way to your waist, pulling you closer until there was no space left between you. he was solid and warm, his body pressing into yours with an intensity that made your heart pound. his fingers traced the curve of your back, dipping under the hem of your shirt just enough to make your skin tingle.
you felt the roughness of his fingertips, the callouses from years of hunting and fighting. they were a stark contrast to the softness of his touch, a reminder of how layered he was - how carefully he’d built this facade that now felt like it was falling away. he moaned low into the kiss, the sound vibrating against your lips, and you responded with a shiver, your hands finding their way to the hard lines of his chest.
you couldn’t help but feel his breath hitch as you pressed your palms against him, as if the simple contact spoke volumes. his mouth moved against yours, claiming, exploring, every stroke of his tongue leaving a heat behind that was making it hard to think straight. his hands shifted, one moving up to cradle your face, his thumb sweeping over your cheek, the other slipping under the edge of your shirt again, skimming just above the curve of your hip.
he pulled you tighter, until you were pressed fully against him, the soft fabric of his shirt brushing your skin. you could feel the heat radiating off of him, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, the way he seemed to anchor you to the moment, making sure you were there, right with him. it was dizzying, intoxicating, a heady mix of familiarity and newfound wonder that made you feel like you were on the edge of falling.
his mouth traveled to the corner of your jaw, down your neck, leaving open-mouthed kisses that made your skin burn. you gasped, a soft, involuntary sound that sent a surge of pride through him, made him growl low in his throat as he pulled you back into another kiss. his hands moved, now tangled in your hair, tilting your head to deepen the kiss, making sure you felt every ounce of him, every single unspoken word he hadn’t said yet.
when you finally broke apart, his forehead rested against yours, his thumb still tracing gentle patterns along your jaw.
"you okay?" he almost cooed at you.
you nodded, your heart racing. "yeah. i think i am."
"good," he said, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. "because i’m not going anywhere. not tonight. not ever."
you didn’t trust yourself to speak, so you just leaned into him, letting his warmth and steady presence chase away the lingering ache in your chest.
you woke to warmth. a heavy arm draped over your waist, the quiet rise and fall of his chest pressed against your back. for a moment, you didn’t move. you let yourself sink into the comfort of it - the weight of his arm, the steady rhythm of his breathing, the faint smell of his aftershave still clinging to the air.
then reality crept in, and your eyes blinked open. the events of the night before played on a loop in your mind: the fight, his apology, the kiss.
you turned slightly, just enough to see him. dean was still asleep, his face softer in the early morning light. his lips, which had been pressed to yours just hours ago, were parted slightly, and his hair was sticking up in a way that would’ve made you laugh if your heart wasn’t pounding so hard.
you were so caught up in watching him that you didn’t notice his eyes fluttering open until it was too late.
"morning," he said, his voice low and gruff with sleep.
"morning," you murmured, suddenly hyperaware of how close you were.
he didn’t move his arm, didn’t pull away. instead, he tightened it slightly, drawing you closer.
"you okay?" he asked, his tone soft but cautious, like he wasn’t sure where you stood after everything.
you nodded, your cheeks warming. "yeah. i’m okay."
his lips twitched into a small smile, the kind that always seemed to disarm you. "good."
for a while, neither of you said anything. the quiet was comfortable this time, filled with the unspoken understanding that something between you had shifted.
eventually, you spoke, your voice barely above a whisper. "so, uh... about last night."
his smile faded slightly, replaced by a more serious expression. "yeah. look, if you’re having second thoughts, or if - "
"i’m not," you said quickly, cutting him off.
his brow furrowed. "you’re not?"
you shook your head, your fingers nervously fidgeting with the edge of the sheet. "no. i’m not."
relief washed over his features, and he let out a breath you didn’t realize he’d been holding. "good. because, uh... i meant what i said. all of it."
"even the part where you called me baby?" you teased, a small smile tugging at your lips.
he chuckled, the sound low and warm. "especially that part."
you couldn’t help but laugh softly, the tension in your chest easing. "you’re such a sap."
"yeah, well, don’t get used to it," he said, but the teasing edge in his voice didn’t quite mask the affection in his eyes.
before you could respond, there was a knock at the door.
"you two decent?" sam’s voice called from the other side.
you froze, your eyes widening as you looked at dean. he just smirked, clearly amused by your panic.
"yeah, come on in," he called back, his tone casual.
"dean!" you hissed, scrambling to sit up and tugging the blanket higher over yourself, even though you were fully dressed.
the door opened, and sam stepped in, his eyes immediately darting between the two of you. his brows raised slightly, but he didn’t say anything.
"breakfast?" he offered, holding up a brown paper bag.
"thanks, sammy," dean said, sitting up and stretching like he hadn’t just been caught in bed with you.
sam set the bag on the table, his expression carefully neutral. "we should hit the road soon. got another lead a few towns over."
"got it," dean said, already reaching for the bag.
as sam left, you turned to dean, your eyes narrowing. "you’re impossible, you know that?"
"what? it’s not like we were doing anything wrong," he said, unbothered.
you rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at your lips. "you’re lucky i like you."
"damn right i am," he said, leaning over to press a quick kiss to your temple.
and just like that, the tension was gone, replaced by the easy banter that had always defined your relationship - only now, there was something softer beneath it. something real.
as you packed up and got ready to leave, you couldn’t help but feel a quiet sense of hope. the road ahead was uncertain, as it always was, but for the first time in a long time, you didn’t feel like you were facing it alone.
you glanced at dean as he loaded the bags into the impala, the sunlight catching in his hair. he looked over his shoulder, catching you watching him, and smirked.
"you coming, baby?"
you rolled your eyes, but your smile didn’t fade. "yeah, i’m coming."
and as you slid into the passenger seat, the familiar rumble of his impala’s engine beneath you, you couldn’t help but think that maybe - just maybe - this was the start of something good.

Good News - June 8-14
Like these weekly compilations? Tip me at $Kaybarr1735! And if you tip me and give me a way to contact you, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week!
1. Rare foal born on estate for first time in 100 years
Tumblr media
“The Food Museum at Abbot's Hall in Stowmarket, Suffolk, is home to a small number of Suffolk Punch horses - a breed considered critically endangered by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. A female foal was born on Saturday and has been named Abbots Juno to honour the last horse born at the museum in 1924. [...] Juno is just one of 12 fillies born so far this year in the country and she could potentially help produce more of the breed in the future.”
2. The cement that could turn your house into a giant battery
Tumblr media
“[Scientists] at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have found a way of creating an energy storage device known as a supercapacitor from three basic, cheap materials – water, cement and a soot-like substance called carbon black. [... Supercapacitators] can charge much more quickly than a lithium ion battery and don't suffer from the same levels of degradation in performance. [... Future applications of this concrete might include] roads that store solar energy and then release it to recharge electric cars wirelessly as they drive along a road [... and] energy-storing foundations of houses.”
3. New road lights, fewer dead insects—insect-friendly lighting successfully tested
Tumblr media
“Tailored and shielded road lights make the light source almost invisible outside the illuminated area and significantly reduces the lethal attraction for flying insects in different environments. [...] The new LED luminaires deliver more focused light, reduce spill light, and are shielded above and to the side to minimize light pollution. [... In contrast,] dimming the conventional lights by a factor of 5 had no significant effect on insect attraction.”
4. When LGBTQ health is at stake, patient navigators are ready to help
Tumblr media
“[S]ome health care systems have begun to offer guides, or navigators, to get people the help they need. [... W]hether they're just looking for a new doctor or taking the first step toward getting gender-affirming care, "a lot of our patients really benefit from having someone like me who is there to make sure that they are getting connected with a person who is immediately going to provide a safe environment for them." [... A navigator] also connects people with LGBTQ community organizations, social groups and peer support groups.”
5. Tech company to help tackle invasive plant species
Tumblr media
“Himalayan balsam has very sugary nectar which tempts bees and other pollinators away from native plants, thereby preventing them from producing seed. It outcompetes native plant species for resources such as sunlight, space and nutrients. [...] The volunteer scheme is open to all GWT WilderGlos users who have a smartphone and can download the Crowdorsa app, where they can then earn up to 25p per square meter of Balsam removed.”
6. [Fish & Wildlife] Service Provides Over $14 Million to Benefit Local Communities, Clean Waterways and Recreational Boaters
Tumblr media
“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is distributing more than $14 million in Clean Vessel Act grants to improve water quality and increase opportunities for fishing, shellfish harvests and safe swimming in the nation’s waterways. By helping recreational boaters properly dispose of sewage, this year’s grants will improve conditions for local communities, wildlife and recreational boaters in 18 states and Guam.”
7. Bornean clouded leopard family filmed in wild for first time ever
Tumblr media
“Camera traps in Tanjung Puting National Park in Indonesian Borneo have captured a Bornean clouded leopard mother and her two cubs wandering through a forest. It's the first time a family of these endangered leopards has been caught on camera in the wild, according [to] staff from the Orangutan Foundation who placed camera traps throughout the forest to learn more about the elusive species.”
8. Toy library helps parents save money 'and the planet'
Tumblr media
“Started in 2015 by Annie Berry, South Bristol's toy library aims to reduce waste and allow more children access to more - and sometimes expensive - toys. [...] Ms Berry partnered with the St Philips recycling centre on a pilot project to rescue items back from landfill, bringing more toys into the library. [...] [P]eople use it to support the environment, take out toys that they might not have the space for at home or be able to afford, and allow children to pick non-gender specific toys.”
9. Chicago Receives $3M Grant to Inventory Its Trees and Create Plan to Manage City’s Urban Forest
Tumblr media
“The Chicago Park District received a $1.48 million grant [“made available through the federal Inflation Reduction Act”] to complete a 100% inventory of its estimated 250,000 trees, develop an urban forestry management plan and plant 200 trees in disadvantaged areas with the highest need. As with the city, development of the management plan is expected to involve significant community input.”
10. Strong Public Support for Indigenous Co-Stewardship Plan for Bears Ears National Monument
Tumblr media
“[The NFW has a] plan to collaboratively steward Bears Ears National Monument to safeguard wildlife, protect cultural resources, and better manage outdoor recreation. The plan was the result of a two-year collaboration among the five Tribes of the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition and upholds Tribal sovereignty, incorporates Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and responsibly manages the monument for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreation while ensuring the continued health of the ecosystem.”

Warnings for gore, death, blood, panic attack, etc. F!Reader.
Tumblr media
Your body shakes violently, blood dripping down like crimson tears from your hands. The overwhelming sense of dread sits with bullet fragment aggression in the delicate make-up of your psyche.
You weren't meant for this.
Not the blood or the terror. Certainly not the body laying out in the hallway.
"Oh, fuck," you gasp out, shuddering as your throat swells in on itself. Your form had slipped down the wall just across from the door not minutes prior, legs weak and heart pounding like a war call. Now all you can do is stare into the vacant eyes of some random burglar—at the knife you'd stuck in his chest when he'd backed you into Simon's office.
It was a miracle that you remembered where your husband's combat blade had been, seen on some off chance when you'd been cleaning. He tries to keep this all separate, you know.
The blood just keeps slipping out of the corpse. It's a pool now, and you don't know how long you'd been huddled like this until the sounds of rampaging feet and hurried yells of your name bounce off your eardrums.
All you can see is the uncleanable amount of red.
Simon had only gone out to the corner store half an hour ago, getting a quick supper so you both could sit in each other's company. You'd been hesitant to watch him leave so soon after getting home, but he'd sworn he'd only be a few minutes.
None of you had thought too much about the local break-ins. After all, Simon was...well, Simon. And he was home.
S-Simon was home.
There's a loud, barked, curse when the body is discovered, stomping feet that make the entire house shake like it was the epicenter of an earthquake. Your husband's form slashes the front of your vision as he kneels in the blood on the floor. Frantic brown eyes behind his balaclava snap from place to place; taking in the familiar handle and blade in nanoseconds. In his left hand he clutches a pistol, white-knuckled.
But you can't even say anything, because you're as still as stone—breathing in concrete as the gravel shreds your vocal cords and trachea. Reality slips in quick streaks of color as Simon's face flashes into the open doorway.
He sees your wide eyes with a mirroring of his own, bone-deep fear striking in his head with a heated pulse.
"Love!" Simon's rushing to you. Your body can't help but startle back, spine shoving into the wall; fingers still saturated and stained.
Inside your chest, your lungs jerk in a strained whimper.
Your husband freezes, one foot ahead with his widened legs as he fights his mind to rush to you and take you into his arms. Simon puts the gun away with little thought to look for more assailants—all that matters is you.
And you looked terrified.
"Hey," hands reach up to this balaclava, slipping the fabric off as he kneels down slowly to one leg. He tosses it to the floor and you try to focus on the strength of his jaw; those scars and pale hairs as your eyes well with tears. A delicate sob builds. "Hey, now. It's just me, alright?"
Simon speaks softly, hands splayed out and a few feet from you. He wishes to hold you tightly but refrains even as his chest tightens at not being able to calm you. The man can't stand that look on your face.
Your fingers curl into shivering fists, "Simon," you cry, finally able to get a solid word out even if it sounds slurred and ragged.
It's all the permission your husband needs.
Simon jerks forward and takes you up into his large arms; the wide encompassing of his palm on the back of your head and the other circling your waist. He angles you away from the body as he glares into it with hatred and vile curses, hissing venom.
When he found the door busted off its hinges, he'd never felt so panicked. Even now as you release a small wail into his neck Simon's heart races, breath coming in short puffs.
"You're alright, Sweetheart. You're alright. I'm right 'ere." You sag into him, grabbing at his leather jacket with nails digging into the brown material. Simon nuzzles his nose into your scalp, muscles tense, "Breathe, it's over."
All you can focus on is Simon's scent, his words. They're the only thing keeping you from oblivion. Eventually, as your husband rocks you back and forth, you can gasp enough air down to push away the black at the sides of your vision.
"That's right," he whispers, gritting his teeth. "Good girl, keep focusin' on me, yeah? You're doin' perfect." Simon doesn't care about the blood or the screams of sirens in the distance.
For the first time in his life, he doesn't care if someone else happens to see his face.
Your husband pulls his head back and shifts his hold to your cheeks, angling your runny and chilled face upwards. He grits his teeth and his eyes bleed with concern; fear.
"...He do anything?" You can only make out half the words as the sounds all huddle together in a ringing tone, but you shake your head in small flinches. Lips find your forehead—heated and firm. Muttered words. "Did so good, Love, I'm so proud of you. S'not your fuckin' fault, you hear?"
Sniffling, you only whimper once more before lips kiss away your tears; thumbs coming up after to swipe at the remnants. Curling over you, this beast—defined so often as ruthless and deadly—shields you from the image of the man you'd killed in self-defense like a demon of smoke and ash. Holding you as if he can make everything else disappear.
After all, you weren't meant for this. You were meant for your soft skin and your loving eyes. Everything else that Simon tied himself to you for—goodness.
"Simon," you gasp again and shove your face into his chest. For the life of you, you can't say anything else. He knows what you mean.
"I'm here," he repeats. Caressing the back of your head, his hand tenses and softens with leaving adreanaline. "Nothin'll happen to you again. It's all gonna be alright."
You believe him.

the thing about antisemitism is that it instantly lowers the IQ of whatever group you are a part of. it takes over all other actions, moral principles, explanations, logic, and strategy to get a group to work together towards the ends you want. "the jews did it" becomes the only cause, "jews control everything" becomes the only effect, and "defeat the jews" becomes the only way to circumvent hurdles and achieve your cause. which is not going to help anyone, it's just going to make you into a group of bigots.
want to clean the litter out of local waterways? well if jew haters get in your movement then your water will get dirtier as the group starts targeting only jewish owned businesses in the area, totally ignoring every other industry that pollutes and ignoring any gov official that might propose a clean water bill or ordinance in your area, since any push back you get from them will derive in (((zionists))) having gotten to them. you won't spend any time cleaning the river or figure out which companies or fines should be leveled against polluters, because (((zionists))) will always be in the shadows to defeat any effort.
you know how Mulder from the X-files gets nothing substantive done because he is so paranoid about the shadowy gov and aliens to trust anyone? he literally "trust no one"-s his way into chasing his tail for the entire run of the show. now imagine he lives in a world with no aliens or deep state gov conspiracies to thwart him... you know... like reality? well that's where jew hate gets you. paranoid and chasing jewish shadows while unable to deal with real problems and ally with real people who have the power to get your goals passed.
jew hate is an unholy mix of racism and moon logic that explains gov corruption and incompetence. don't fall for it. it's jew hate that holds progress back, not jews. it's popular because it's easy and guarantees you won't get anything done and wont ruffle any powerful feathers. nothing changes, that's the defeatist appeal of jew hate. you have a concrete target, jews, to harass, that the "look ma, I accomplished something!" appeal of jew hate. fight it. it's the best rabbit hole/diversion ever invented.

Lake ‘bullicante’ and the anarchy of nature, Dario Li Gioi.
"In 1954, the Snia-Viscosa closed its operations for good. This area of Italy’s capital suddenly came to experience an unusual calm, with nature becoming the sole guardian of over one hundred thousand square meters of land for decades.
It was not until the early 1990s, after it was put on the market, that a new, possible future of this place began to take shape. The way it happened was completely unexpected: during excavation works for the construction of a shopping centre, the real estate company Ponente 1978’s bulldozers damaged one of the acquifers of a nearby volcanic complex. Water began to gush from the ground incessantly; water in such abundance that it filled the hollow created by the diggers.
On that day, in the area of the former Snia Viscosa factory, a lake was born. The locals called it lago bullicante (literally, ‘the boiling lake’), in reference to the sulphurous emissions that would make these once subterranean waters bubble. From that construction accident, where nature hurriedly covered the space created by human activity, what remains today is the concrete skeleton of what was conceived as a parking lot. It emerges from the water, surrounded by a thicket of locust trees, willows, and impenetrable marsh reeds."
