Chapter 6: Stories and Warnings

Curveballs leads to unexpected reactions. Stories are told, emotions begin to show and warnings have been presented. Ch5

Long Xiaojiao, or Mei to her friends, couldn't believe what she had just recorded. Learning that Astra was from another universe and her taking them to said universe was one thing. To watch this same woman encourage then curb stomped her best friend for several years alongside his mentor into the ground.

Or the fact that said mentor was the very immortal who unleashed absolute hell in heaven, got 5 times immortal, and was one of the members to the greatest journey in China, Sun Wukong! Yet, it was true upon the sight of the board.

Both her friend and her teacher's health bars were completely empty. It definitely hurt upon the stipulations for this specific battle, a loss meant the Monkey King would lose his privilege to teach MK. Mei was about to say something, to interject when…

Astra Valorous let out a hearty chuckle, a sincere smile on her face. "Congratulations, you've passed!" And the entire battlefield went silent in seconds.

...What?

The Frontier Brain couldn't help the loud snort upon the stupored looks on her companions' faces. Only one who didn't seem so shocked was Sandy, an all knowing look across the man's bearded face. MK was the first to speak.

"But...we lost the battle?" Hearing the pained tone of disbelief made the ginger woman wince a bit. Clarification was in serious order. "Sun Wukong's test was to prove himself, not win the battle." Astra's words were followed up by Sandy.

"What the missy is getting at, is that she wanted to see if the Monkey King was actually willing to help MK. He could have fought Atlas and Bao Chang by himself instead of allowing his student to fight alongside him! A first step to actual trust, something needed for a teacher and student!"

Bao Chang, who was now standing in the middle of scorch dried mud, and Atlas nodded their heads in agreement which further cemented it. "I've passed?" Wukong froze for a second trying to register the words that had escaped his throat. Once it did, he began running about the battlefield with a large mad grin on his face.

"I've passed! I've passed! I've passed!" In a burst of light Sun Wukong shapeshifted into a tiger who rubbed himself happily against a now giggling Bao Chang. Morphed into a colorful bird that flew on top of Atlas' head to nuzzle the Continent Pokemon. He turned into a butterfly which flew over to hug his apprentice's face. And finally back into the Monkey King who stood in front of a stupored Astra. He took that chance to hold the woman's face and gave her a big fat kiss on the lips.

Such an action had the Frontier Brain stunned silent, her mind trying to register what the hell was going on. Her apple green eyes then spotted Mei and Mars, the little imps were taking pictures. Enough incentive for Astra to shove the Monkey King off before harshly slapping him across the face.

Meanwhile, the little moth form of a certain Six Eared Macaque currently stewed in the ginger's hair. Whether the reason being his archrival's victory or the kiss was unknown. It was as clear as day that the shadow demon was absolutely pissed.

"If you try that stunt again, I'll skin you alive, ya damn dirty Infernape rip-off!" Shaking off her coat, Astra put it back on while she still glared at Sun Wukong. He didn't seem that bothered by the slap or the insult since he hadn't lost that cheeky grin.

"Mukasa, would you be so kind as to heal this nimrod and MK with Jungle Healing?" Nodding, the Rogue Monkey Pokemon then plunged the vines around his arms into the ground. A bright emerald light shone from the plants that spread across the entire battlefield in mere seconds.

MK watched in awe at the burns and injuries on his body quickly fading away, only perfectly untouched skin left behind. Even the battlefield itself began to mend, any scorch marks or damage becoming undone. It all ended once Mukasa had pulled his vines from the ground, the plants reverting back to their natural state.

"You did very well today, Atlas. Now go get some rest, you might be a Legendary Pokemon but you're still a growing juvenile." The Groudon lowered their head down so Astra could give the large Pokemon a kiss on the cheek before returning into their Pokeball.

Of course, one word immediately stuck out to MK. He couldn't help the look of disbelief upon the mere implications. Juvenile was a term used for young animals, and the Frontier Brain put growing in front of it. "Atlas is a kid?!"

Sometime later, Astra had led the group to the private lounge for it made no sense to stay at the battlefield. She left them alone there for three reasons. First reason was to grab something from her lab since MK blurting out about Atlas' age had gotten a lot of questions from Mei.

Second reason was to deliver the group's food from the kitchen. Pigsy wanted to help her cook but Astra didn't think it was appropriate. The restaurant owner never cooked with Berries before and there were actually some that can cause harm if not prepped right. Plus it was rude to make a guest cook. A minor debate later, Pigsy would help her make dinner but have a crash course on using Berries.

The third reason… a certain violet moth had decided to turn back into his true self. He now stood over Astra much to the woman's minor annoyance especially considering their audience. Some of her workers were making their lunches when Macaque decided to make a scene.

The ginger, currently placing her guests' meals on a serving cart, kept her gaze firm. Lunch consisted of sliced berry salad made up of Pecha, Oran, Pinap, and Sitrus berries, homemade potato chips, a few types of sandwiches from Veggie, Grilled Cheese, PBJ made with freshly made jelly and peanut butter, and some malasadas. "Have you heard of personal space before?" Spoke the ginger woman, apple green eyes still glaring into the dark amber.

"I'm surprised that you somehow managed to outsmart Sun Wukong. Not many have been able to pull the wool over the Great Sage's face, and I can count them all on two paws." Macaque smiled so largely and deviously that his razor sharp predatory fangs were now on full display for all to see.

The idea was truly ironic to the black furred monkey. All of Heaven had trouble dealing with Sun Wukong for centuries. Mainly from the fact that the Monkey King was as crafty as he was powerful. Something which forced the almighty Buddha to come down to seal the immortal under a mountain for 500 years.

Yet, here was this mortal woman standing before him. Someone brave enough to not only call out the powerful hero on his flaws but manage to beat him in a mock battle. To the Six Eared Macaque, these feats were impressive as they were almost impossible.

"Foreseeing an opponent's actions is an important skill for any Pokemon Trainer. It weeded out a lot of trainers who were too inexperienced to earn my badge." Astra then handed the shadow demon something. Macaque looked down to see it was a dark violet Pokedex with his logo on the back of it.

"You're going to need it once you start assisting me. Do not even think of messing with MK or any of his companions. Keep your grudge against Wukong to yourself and under wraps. Especially away from my observatory." The demon gave her a false hurt look before nonchalantly waving his hands.

"Oh you wound me. Thinking I'll cause trouble for the hell of it. Don't worry Apple, I won't mess with Sun Wukong and his group. I'll be on my best behavior." Rolling her eyes at the mischievous tone in Macaque's words, Astra reluctantly trusted him to properly behave.

If he didn't listen to her warning earlier, the Frontier Brain had multiple ideas for a very nightmarish punishment. She didn't like rule breakers nor betrayers. Astra handed the demon his lunch in a neat paper bag. "Go eat Macaque. You'll need the energy since we'll be checking on the more nocturnal Pokemon later."

Licking his lips, the monkey demon greedily took the bag from the ginger's hands. Astra thought Macaque would walk away once he had received his meal. Nothing could've prepared the Frontier Brain when the shadow user instantly pulled her into a deep kiss.

Her employees' reactions were mixed: some were gasping in shock, a lot of them were wolf-whistling, and a few older ones could only shake their head at the monkey in pure disdain. Astra, however, was beyond pissed at not only Macaque but herself to think the demon wasn't that petty.

She shoved him off and promptly punched the shadow demon in the face. "Get your fuckin bootleg Zarude jackass self out of my kitchen before I chop off your tail and use it for Slowpoke Tail Soup!" Maniacally laughing at her threat, the monkey disappears into the shadows with his now undeserved meal.

Astra spun around to glare at her workers, specifically the ones who were whistling. The silent threat of 'Speak this to anyone and you're dead' was very clear from how quickly all of them paled in horror. Once the warning was made crystal clear, she carted the food over to the lounge.

Astra silently cursed the two monkeys in her head on the way to her destination. The lounge wasn't anything extravagant since it was a place to relax after all. A few plush sofa couches, a bunch of Pokemon plushies that laid in the corner, some magazines on the table, a TV, and a PC device.

Other than that, there were a few photos hanging on the shelf alongside what appeared to be a trophy case. These rewards consisted of a gold Pokeball trophy with a small plaque at the bottom, a small square case holding some badges inside, a large certificate, and another small container which held 5 different ribbons. There was also...

"Grookey!" Astra stifled a small chuckle at the sight before her. Standing on top of a bookcase with Wukong's cap perched on their head was a small Pokemon. A green furred monkey barely 7 inches in size, brown wedge shaped ears, yellow mask pattern on their face alongside a round orange snout and obsidian eyes, hands and wrists were covered in orangish fur, two leaves on top their head that was partially covered by Wukong's cap, small brown feet and a brown tail which held a small wooden stick.

The Monkey King was trying to sweet-talk the Pokemon to the amusement of his companions. Bao Chang, Mukasa and Mars weren't helping either. Former currently laughing, the middle shaking his head, as the latter was taking pictures. MK took out his new Pokedex.

"'Grookey, the Chimp Pokemon. A Grass Type. It attacks using the special stick that it carries around. The sound waves produced with each strike revitalizes nearby plants and flowers in the area. As it strikes with amazing speed, Grookey gets more and more pumped.'"

The hat stealing Pokemon happily chirped hitting the bookshelf and Sun Wukong's approaching hand with said stick. "Alright Grookey. Trade you this Pinap malasada for the Monkey King's hat." Astra said, holding up one of the jam-filled breads.

"Key gro!" In an instant, the Chimp Pokemon leapt off the bookshelf while dropping the gold cap on Wukong's head. Next it snagged the malasada from Astra's hand and landed on the couch to take a bite of their treat. All in one single motion.

"Sorry about that. I forgot to warn you guys about this little Grookey here. He likes to collect hats and would often snag them off people's heads." She sheepishly scratched her head before she put down the cart of food. The Monkey King didn't seem that bothered, nonchalantly waving his hand in dismissal.

"It's fine. Some of my monkey subjects on Flower Fruit Mountain have stolen stuff from me over the years. Nothing new but I have to give props for the little guy's first successful attempt." MK took a few sandwiches off the cart then sat next to the eating Grass Type.

Mei's eyes shot open when she took a bite of her malasada. "OMG! This is sooo good! So sweet and tangy but not too much!" Her statement quickly led to Tang, Pigsy, Sandy and MK taking a bite of their food. And their reactions were just like the pig tailed girl.

Out of everyone, Pigsy took the cake for Astra. He was frozen solid in shock for a few seconds. A large smile came on his face and he took another bite of his sandwich. "Can we share some recipes from time to time?" The Frontier Brain had to hold down her laughter.

It looks like she knocked the socks off of Pigsy. "Sure if you give me a culinary tour on Chinese cuisine. I'll even let you pick some Berries from my Berry Garden if you give me pointers on making noodles by hand." Astra's offer was met with a thumbs up from the restaurant owner.

MK was about to take a bite out of his fruit salad when he noticed the Chimp Pokemon looking at his food. The brunette took out a chopped berry off his plate and offered it to the Grookey. "Here you go. We can share." Chirping happily, the Grass Type ate the offered fruit.

The sight was apparently cute enough for Mei to snag a picture of the two. "By the way, is that little guy yours Astra? Or do they belong to a different trainer?" Tang's inquiry was met with a shake of the head.

"Nope. This Grookey lives at the Observatory and has no trainer. Found the little fellow back when he was ill. You see a sickness broke out in the forest Grooky lived which made any Grass Type Pokemon who caught it severely weak. Apparently the cause was spores from a rampaging Amoonguss. Once the fiasco was finished, Grookey somehow snuck into my bag without me noticing and has been living here since."

Tang decided to pull up the entry out of curiosity. His new Pokedex pulled up the image of a large light grey mushroom whose cap had the pattern of a PokeBall with two smaller ones on the arms, white eyes that held only a black pupil, and a pink snout of some kind on their face.

"Search results found! 'Amoonguss, the Mushroom Pokemon. A Grass/Poison Type. Amoonguss generally don't move much as they are lure type predators and often hide behind dropped Pokeballs. Once spotting potential prey, these Pokemon move their cap shaped arms and dance to distract their target while getting closer, not many Pokemon are fooled. These Pokemon puff out poisonous spores at opponents that could grow into mushrooms if not washed off.'"

Grookey angrily blew a raspberry at the picture. Guess the Grass Type was still sour about that whole fiasco. "Yeesh. This is one weird nasty mushroom. At least the little guy and his forest are safe now. What I want to know is how you met Atlas?! Did you raise him or something?!" Mei was practically bouncing in anticipation.

It made some sense when Astra opted to learn more about each member of Team Monkie Kid. Apparently, the girl's ancestor was one of the great dragons that lived in the West Sea, some speculation being Bai Long Ma. Her draconic aura was a natural trait alongside a connection to the weather.

Who wouldn't be more curious about dragons or creatures who could manipulate weather other than a descendant of one? Astra went to the cart and took out a small brown box. Opening the item, everyone had gathered in wonderment at the box's contents. Fragments, to be precise egg fragments around the size of orange peels per piece, red as blood and detailed in black ancient markings similar to the Groudon.

"You raised Atlas from a small egg!? And you even kept the egg shell pieces too. Aaaw, that's cute!" Sandy looked ready to shed another tear from the thought. The man owned a lot of cats, some having different needs or were raised from kittens so he can see a parental kinship like Astra and Atlas.

"Yep. I accidentally stumbled upon his egg when I was exploring the Hoenn Region's Mount Pyre around 8 years ago. Was tucked within the tall grass on the mountain top, no possible parent Pokemon in sight. You can imagine my shock once Atlas hatched and I admit raising him was a bit scary." Her smile soured upon the thought.

They needed to know this since there would probably be more visits. "There are people out there who abuse the power of Pokemon. I have my fair share of encounters with awful trainers. Those that treat their Pokemon like tools and bastards who saw them as mere playthings. What's worse, there are some organizations made up of these people that often threaten our peaceful lives. Sometimes by hunting Legendary Pokemon."

Every bit of cheerfulness in the room became replaced with dark tension. Astra could see the looks of horror, disbelief and sympathy throughout Team Monkie Kid. "These organizations often vary between regions but they usually go after Legendary and Mythical Pokemon for dastardly schemes, even stealing people's Pokemon to further that goal."

A snarl crossed her face of one particular man that had visited her observatory when Macaque and Wukong first came in. He had an aura around him that made her want to punch the man's face. Something quite foul.

"I kept Atlas secret for a very long time because these people are opportunists and a baby Legendary is an easy target. For Hoenn, there were two organizations people had to worry about. Team Aqua who wished to abuse the power of Kyogre to control the sea and Team Magma that wished to rule the land through Groudon's strength. Both teams had already aggravated a different Groudon and Kyogre in the past."

Sun Wukong surprisingly decided to finish Astra's explanation. "And you were worried that this 'Team Magma' would try again with Atlas! Quite a clever move by keeping the big fella hidden. I can only imagine what those people had done to that other Groudon and Kyogre."

The Frontier Brain nodded in agreement. Evil such as Team Magma and Team Aqua don't go down so easily. Who knows when someone decides to bring them back anew after both leaders were apprehended? Only time would tell.

"I can't keep Atlas secret for the rest of his life. That's why I'm training him so he can defend himself properly. He deserves to see more than just the Battle Observatory and Life's Cradle. People like Team Magma and Aqua could target you all as well. Visitors from another world are a big enough priority for them."

The room remained still, everyone processing this new information. Quite a common reaction for a lot of people. All of them had faced danger before but not from another world. "Of course, you guys shouldn't worry yourselves." Everyone's eyes were now on the redhead, a large smirk on her.

"I am part of this team now so I'll do my best to help you all out in any way I can. Plus, we're friends now and friends help each other!" Astra gave everyone a thumbs up, her smirk now a proud smile. Something that made the tension in the room vanish and merriment had returned.

Within the darkness, a certain shadow demon observed the group. A pain of jealousy burning in Macaque's dark amber. He was taken aback when Astra's eyes locked onto his hiding spot. Despite chatting with her guests, she never broke eye contact. Softly smiling, the redhead quietly mouthed something to the hidden monkey.

The demon disappeared immediately after that. Uncertainty building up in his chest would've compromised the shadow monkey otherwise. Macaque couldn't help thinking about Astra's silent words while he quietly sat in his room.

'It's okay to feel left out. If you ever want to talk or just spend some time together, just ask. No one deserves to be lonely. After all, shadows need a companion too.' What was wrong with him?

And that's it. I really don't know how the kiss scenes got added since I wasn't trying to do a pairing. A friendship between Macaque, Astra, and Sun Wukong were what I'm aiming for but it might end up in ship territory. 🤷

You guys will be seeing more of that Grookey soon. Will there be Pokemon villains popping up in this story?

Yeah but I want the bad guys to stick to their respective worlds. I don't want to mix it up unless for like a chapter or two.

After the next chapter, we'll be heading back into canon territory with the Duplication episode.

The next chapter for Broken Toys will be coming out soon so hold on for a bit longer. Life's been hectic and writer's block keeps coming back.

So for the Pokemon LMK AU I have a few HCs for gyms.

Pigsy: The Fire type gym leader, known for both his fiery temper and his great noodle soup.

Sandy: The Ground and Water gym leader, he's known to be a rather chill and nice guy but get him angry the earth will shake

Tang: Psychic Gym Leader, a great scholar and reasearcher he'll tell any story you want if you give him some of Pigsy noodles.

Yes, yes, yes!

Xiaotian knows Sandy already, he's his adopted uncle, but both Pigsy and Tang took one look at these two kids and decided to adopt them.

Pigsy's gym is where the duo also meet Red Son, who was distracting Red while his parents messed around in town. They met Bai He doing the same thing to Sandy while Fake Mayor and the Spider Gang did something.

Chapter 5: Battle to Prove

The time has come for Sun Wukong to face against Astra. Stakes are however raised when Team Monkie Kid sees a side to their new friend and that this challenge is more than it seems. CH4 CH6

Docks, Secret Base

Sun Wukong, Great Sage Equal To Heaven and the Monkey King, was a bit nervous to say the least. He thought his retirement plan would go perfectly. Find a successor to take his place, train that successor and then enjoy a lifetime of eating peach chips in peace. Not so hard right?

That was until he ran into Astra Valorous who took his idea then threw it into a wood chipper before igniting said chipper on fire. A woman who wasn't going to take his sweet-talk *bullshit* without a fight. Yank his successor from his hands then tell him straight to his face that the, SUN WUKONG, wasn't worthy of being a teacher.

He never turned down a challenge, especially one as interesting and rude as this. This was how the Monkey King found himself travelling down a cramped secret elevator with: a crazy Monkey King fanatic, grumpy noodle chef who hates his guts, a big burly sweetheart of an aquatic demon, his successor and his successor's hyperactive female best friend.

"Can't believe we are actually going to another world?! Luckily I was able to make an awesome jet that could withstand travel through Ultra Space as our Shooting Star called it! Finding stuff for the brand new Ultra Nova Jet was surprisingly easy with enough scrap!" Mei exclaimed, probably would have jumped around in excitement if the elevator wasn't stuffed.

"I will admit that I am super curious to see what Astra's home dimension is really like too. What kind of knowledge we can learn could be even equal to the Celestial Realm itself." Tang added, holding a notebook in his hand that read: Pokemon, Analysis of the Unknown.

Pigsy didn't seem so enthusiastic like the rest of the group. "The only reason I'm here is because the kid asked me to come. Plus, the stove needs to be repaired so I had to close up shop for the day." For a second, the Monkey King thought the pig demon came to see him clash with Bao Chang.

Sun Wukong and Pigsy really didn't see eye to eye, the restaurant owner looked ready to clobber the immortal monkey with a frying pan at any chance he got. He probably didn't since MK would want everyone to get along. The Monkey King eyed his successor at the thought.

The brunette was currently chatting with Sandy about what they could do upon arrival. "I wondered if Astra would let us meet some of her other Pokemon. Honestly, I wonder if there's any Cat Pokemon that live at her observatory./ She just might Sandy. I really want to meet Mukasa though."

Wukong softly smiled at his successor, he was happy that the young man could get some enjoyment from this trip. The elevator soon came to a stop. Sun Wukong took a deep breath, his face hardened into one of composure. It looks like the time of judgment had come as the elevator's doors opened.

Standing with her back to them was Astra Valorous, the Frontier Brain stood at the large jet that would take the group through Ultra Space. It looked like one of those jets that astronauts used for travel except it was painted red with gold accents and clouds, the wings were jagged that they imitates claws or feathers and the Monkey King's logo could be seen on the right of the ship with the Nova Badge logo on the left.

Next to the redhead was Aniani, the Necrozma body had darkened a bit but still held some semblance of a golden hue. Astra turned around to greet them with a small grin. "Glad that all of you could come. I just finished looking over the ship so it was travel worthy for Ultra Space which it did pass with flying colors."

Mei excitedly fist pumped with a quiet 'Yes', clearly proud of her latest achievement. "I'm usually the designated driver of the group, so is there anything I need to know before we leave?" Sandy questioned, much to the Frontier Brain's pleasure. "Correct. You need to stick close to Aniani. My precious starlight knows the safest route we can take since Ultra Space can be quite unpredictable without proper measures."

Unnoticeable to all except for Astra, a certain purple moth had flown into the more secluded part of the ship. 'You better be on your best behavior, Macaque. I'll send ya skyward if your dumb fuzz butt tries anything.' The redhead thought watching everyone else board the aircraft.

Once the door to the jet closed, Aniani picked up the redhead in a strong but careful grip as kaleidoscope eyes began to glow. "NECROZMA!" The Prism Pokemon's howl overlaps the sound of the Ultra Nova Jet's engines, a large rip tearing through reality upon the Psychic Type's command.

Astra and her Pokemon were the first ones to dive into the much larger rift with the jet following from behind. The redhead could see the curious gazes of her companions looking out the side windows inside their ship. She silently chuckled when Mei mouthed something to her.

'If you ever go on another expedition, take me with you!' Is what the Frontier Brain guessed the energetic girl was saying. Aniani had to take a silently longer route since the other path would lead the ship into her poor ill-suited lab. So Astra decided to take the path that led to the near edge of the grassland by Life's Cradle.

Her reason was to see the group's face once they finally reached the other side of the portal. Everyone within the ship, even Sun Wukong, were in awe when the blueish void was replaced by an entire utopia of various biomes and their residents. MK pointed down at a large herd of Wooloo grazing near different sheep Pokemon and horse Pokemon that even had manes made of fire.

Mei was recording various Pokemon that flew past the ship, even squealing at those who resembled different kinds of dragons. Sandy just watched the sight shedding a small tear as Mo wagged his tail in excitement. Even Tang and Pigsy's composure broke upon a few airborne Pokemon waving at them, one being a golden cicada that had a white halo over its head.

Sun Wukong couldn't help thinking about his mountain from this spectacular view. Life's Cradle was almost like an alternate version of his kingdom. "... and that would make Astra Valorous this place's queen." The Monkey King softly whispered, golden eyes drifting to the redhead in Aniani's arms. She flashed the group a big smile before the Prism Pokemon began to descend.

Everyone on board watched the duo head to a cliff at the side of the grasslands. On top of that very landform sat Mukasa, the Rogue Monkey waving over for the group to land. Sandy carefully landed the plane while Astra got out of her Necrozma's hold.

"Brace yourself Mukasa." Once the door of the ship opened MK and Mei ran outside towards them. Both young adults bouncing around with a million questions per second that only made Astra wonder if they were breathing. Her Zarude companion merely raised an eyebrow before holding up one finger.

Mei and MK immediately went silent at the gesture much to the surprise of Pigsy who just stepped out of the shuttle. "Mukasa here handles the more rambunctious Pokemon so he knows how to deal with hyperactive people too." Astra answered, satisfying the pig demon's curiosity.

A certain shadow moth stealthy slipped into the Frontier Brain's sleeve before Wukong finally stepped off the ship. She nearly whacked the moth as he went up her jacket and made himself comfy in her fluffy white collar. Astra didn't have to look to know Macaque's beady little eyes glinting in amusement, the tiny prick. Anyway...

"I humbly welcome you all to my facility: The Battle Observatory! As I said before, I am Astra Valorous, the Frontier Brain in charge of this observatory alongside Life Cradle and its Pokemon inhabitants. Before beginning the tour, there's a few things I need to get out of the way." Mukasa took out something from the redhead's bag.

The group noticed they were small pocket sized tablets, each with a different color and symbol representing a member of the group. There was a magenta one with Pigsy's Noodles logo, jade that held a chinese dragon, light golden bearing the emblem of a cicada over a black book, sea blue that had an icon that resembled Sandy and Mo, an orange gold with MK's jacket logo, and a dark gold bearing the emblem of a monkey that held a staff while they stood on top of a cloud.

"These are your Pokedexs. You can use these to scan any Pokemon you come across or look through in your free time. All of them have a communicator so you'll be able to talk to me or each other, built-in camera for both picture and video alongside an audio recorder, an emergency signal that will activate if any of you are in serious trouble and is customizable. They're also solar powered and store whatever energy that isn't used for further usage in the future."

Mukasa immediately raised his hand up at the slight twitches from Sandy, Tang, Mei and MK knowing what they were about to tackle Astra in a grateful hug. Once it seemed she wasn't going to get tackled, the redhead continued.

"Next thing to address is the certain monkey in the room. I considered the Monkey King's ability to train MK is very inadequate and said I will be taking over. To agree and disagree, we settled on a battle to test if Sun Wukong can truly take on a successor. I just left out a tiny detail."

The Monkey King immediately froze hearing that. She said he was going to battle Bao Chang so what exactly did the redhead leave out??? "The battle isn't a single battle. It shall be a Double Battle! Sun Wukong and MK vs Bao Chang and one of my Pokemon in training."

Sun Wukong felt like he was crushed under a mountain again, everyone else crying out in shock behind him. The Monkey King and Monkie Kid looked at each other, a single thought in their head. 'I'm fighting alongside my apprentice/ the Monkey King.' Astra quieted the group before speaking up again.

"It isn't going to be a serious battle. I want to measure MK's capabilities at the moment to see what to work on and how to improve. Any possible injuries will be tended to be Mukasa here with his move Jungle Healing. If things get out of hand, the battle will immediately stop. Are there any objections?" The Frontier Brain looked at every member of the group.

None of them seemed to be against the idea, good to know how much they trusted her and their companions' capabilities. "After the tour and the battle, we will have a field day around Life's Cradle. Do any of you guys have food allergies or are on certain diets? I would like to know so I can properly make lunch and dinner without any trouble."

After getting everyone's food preferences, the tour began for the group. Like before, Wukong noticed that the workers were respecting everyone's personal space. There were a few stops on the trip. Mei wanted to film some Pokemon training, Sandy saw a few researchers with Cat Pokemon and asked to pet them, Tang and MK asked questions upon seeing something interesting.

Pigsy did ask where the kitchen was which Astra was happy to oblige. The Monkey King did wonder where they were going to host the battle at. He had a feeling the private battlefield was out of commission after his spat with Macaque. All that would be left was…

"Since my personal battlefield is out of order, we'll be using my observatory's battlefield." Astra proudly opened a set of double doors for the group. Neither Sun Wukong and his companions could comprehend the sight before their eyes.

The battlefield was stinking HUGE. It was the size of a grand football stadium, the field itself had thin lines marking the trainers stood and where the Pokemon will fight, a large flat screen tv on the wall, the clear screens protecting the viewer's stand looked a lot more sturdy than the personal battlefield's, and even a collapsible roof seen on certain sports stadiums.

Sun Wukong and the hidden Macaque felt a strange unknown energy flow underneath the ground. Almost like a well of untold raw power dwelled beneath their feet. Whatever it was, it must come from this dimension.

"Pretty big, right? It's for a specific type of battle that I'll explain later. May my observers please enter the stands? These blast proof screens should be able to protect you in case of a stray attack. Unlike the practice field, these are made from an invention of mine: Elemental Gel. Mars, can you please referee?" MK's companions seated themselves in the stands while Mars flew out to the middle of the field from Astra's bag.

The Frontier Brain walked over to the trainer's base on the opposite side of the field. Suddenly the large screen came to life bearing a display of sorts. It was a status board that had Astra's picture on the left with six slots resembling Pokeballs under her picture. Meanwhile the right displayed Wukong and MK's pictures with a yellow bar under their names.

"I, Mars, shall be the referee. This is a Double Battle between Astra Valorous and her opponents MK and Sun Wukong! The Frontier Brain is allowed to substitute or trade out any Pokemon except for Bao Chang upon agreement for this battle. If an attack lands, the target's respective bar will drop! The battle shall end once one of the bars on either side fully goes out." Mars explained, looking at the two sides.

The Monkey King let out a soft hum at the explanation. It was a pretty sound idea and layout, plus it limited any serious injuries too. "Challengers get ready! Frontier Brain Astra, bring out your Pokemon!" MK immediately took out the Monkey King's Staff and got into a battle stance alongside his mentor.

A calm sensation washed over Astra as the woman closed her eyes. "This may be a practice battle but I will not go easy on any challenger." The redhead gripped the side of her coat causing the hidden Macaque to hide in her hair. "Sun Wukong, Great Sage Equal To Heaven and the Monkey King. MK, Monkie Kid and Successor to the Monkey King…"

Astra tossed her coat skywards, revealing to everyone could see her heavily scarred arms. All across those firm muscles were large gouges from claws or blades and punctures made by sharp teeth. Something that made the manic feral smile on the woman's face even more terrifying. The kind Astra Valorous they knew was gone and in her place…

'So this is a Frontier Brain.' Macaque couldn't help shivering a bit. It was bafflingly how a nice yet sassy woman could change like this. A manic gladiator with a taste for adrenaline that came only from the harshest of battles. Made sense why Astra was called the Battle Frontier's Shooting Star. She's the fire of nova standing between challengers and victory.

"...show me what you're capable of!! BAO CHANG AND ATLAS, GET READY FOR BATTLE!!!" In seconds, Astra pulled out two Pokeballs from her pant's pocket and brought out her allies. From the two bursts of light, the Playful Pokemon emerged alongside his partner in battle.

"WE'RE FIGHTING THAT?!" MK ludicrously pointed at his supposed opponent, praying it was a joke. Standing around a scary 11'9 inches was a large bipedal dinosaur, black ancient carvings blanketed thick crimson armor plates covering the entirety of its backside leaving a smooth gray underbelly exposed, large white spikes that came the sides of its head and plated back, four fingered paws bearing sharp claws, sharp three toed feet, a long lobster like tail ending with four dozer like blades similar to the ridges on top of its head, razor sharp teeth and bright yellow eyes that stared through the darkness of the head plates.

"GROUDON!!!" Atlas' roar held so much raw power that the ground shook followed by a rise in heat and brightness. It felt like someone brought a small sun from how hot it became. Two slots on Astra's page were filled with a picture of Bao Chang and this new Pokemon. Mei pointed her Pokedex to Atlas for answers.

"'Groudon, the Continent Pokemon. A Ground Type. Special Ability is Drought which brings harsh sunlight upon being summoned to the battlefield. Groudon is said to be the living personification of the land itself. By using intense heat, it expanded land masses through evaporating water. It's titanic battles with its opposite Kyogre for the power of nature usually causes Groudon to go into a deep slumber underneath molten earth to regain its strength. When this Pokemon awakens from its deep slumber, volcanoes above shall erupt. It is seen as a savior to people suffering from harsh floods. This Pokemon is classified as Legendary.'"

The explanation from Mei's Pokedex shook everyone in the group, mostly Wukong and the hidden Macaque. Power like that was often in the hands of dragons, elementals and even gods. Magic spells controlling the weather were much rarer too. Living forces of nature with one under the command of a single mortal woman.

"Atlas, this is your first Double Battle so do your best. I want you guys to work together with everything you have." Spoke Astra, a sincere faithful smile on her face. The Playful Pokemon gave a thumbs up in response while the Continent Pokemon did a short but enthusiastic nod.

"Very interesting. Astra clearly has a strong bond with her Pokemon and sees them as equals which is reciprocated by the other side. Her team appears to be quite diverse from the various types of each respective member." Tang wrote it down while he silently muttered his analysis.

"If Atlas is anything like Sandy here, then they know how to handle their strength. Otherwise, Astra wouldn't bring out a Pokemon like that." Pigsy did have a point. She wouldn't bring out something equal to a land god without properly knowing their strength.

Hearing that from his boss helped ease MK's nerves knowing everything would be alright. Sure he never saw Sandy fight but believed that the river demon must be really powerful. "Are both sides ready?" Mars looked at Sun Wukong's team for confirmation. The Monkey King nodded his head while his apprentice gave him an okay.

"Let the battle begin!" Sun Wukong was above Atlas in mere seconds, fist already outstretched for a punch. The Monkey King dove towards the Groudon only for his hand to be blocked by a layer of thick shadow. Bao Chang had intercepted him! Using his free hand, the smaller Monferno tauntingly wagged his finger at the demon while grabbing him tightly with his shadow claw.

"Bao Chang is your opponent, Sun Wukong. Punish this naughty monkey with Focus Blast!" His eyes barely caught the growing blue light from the shadowy claw before the Monkey King's world went up in blinding pain. The monkey demon crashed into the ground in seconds barely catching himself. Some of his gauge however dropped by the direct hit.

"Monkey King!" MK cried out seeing his injured mentor. "Pay attention to your opponent! Thunderbolt!" Electricity crackled around the Continent Pokemon, a sight the brunette didn't like. And the Monkie Kid was right from the huge lightning coming towards him out of Atlas.

MK quickly swung the Monkey King's Staff at the bolt of lightning. It's magically nature thankfully reflected the Thunderbolt straight back at Atlas causing a medium explosion. "Alright M... Wait, look at the board!" Hearing Mei's shout and picking himself up, the Monkey King saw what was wrong.

Atlas' bar didn't drop as the smoke cleared to reveal the large Pokemon completely fine. "Nice idea to reflect the Thunderbolt. Sadly Electric Type moves have no effect against a Ground Type like Groudon." Astra flashed the duo a feral grin.

"Let's try this on for size! Mud Shot, Atlas!" MK barely had any time to dodge when a giant mudball nearly blindsided him from the rear. His hazel eyes watching the Groudon shoot large glowing balls of mud everywhere as if they were spitballs!

MK had gone to a full-on sprint while the Monkey King went airborne to avoid the large splotches of rapid fire mud. Sun Wukong pulled out a few strands of his hair then blew on them. Those strands suddenly exploded into an army of clones diving for Bao Chang like bullets.

"Climb up with Flame Wheel." Wait what? The Monferno engulfed himself in a large spiral of flames before bouncing right towards the closest clone. Inside the fire, Bao grabbed the incoming fist from the duplicate and launched himself forward with a downward throw.

This action not made the clone explode into hair upon hitting the ground but boosted the Monferno's momentum. And the Playful Pokemon brought down clone after clone as he continued to the top. In seconds, Bao Chang was above Sun Wukong and headed straight towards the Monkey King.

The Great Sage quickly held his hands to block the fiery monkey. However Bao Chang had collected enough speed and momentum to send his larger opponent straight into the ground upon impact.

Wukong's student wasn't doing better as he kept trying to outrun the barrage of mudballs. Being on the move made it impossible for a well aimed counter and he had a feeling the same trick won't work twice. Suddenly the brunnette found himself airborne, a dragged chunk of mud catching his eyes before a large mudball came down on him. MK's meter dropped a bit just like his master.

From the stands, the rest of Team Monkie Kid could only shake their heads at the already disastrous start. "Ooh! That looked like it hurt. Don't know what's worse: getting blasted in the face or sloshed by mud." Mei cringed slightly from her two associates looking a bit worse for wear.

Tang merely adjusted his glasses with a soft hum. "Astra easily calculated everything before the battle even begun. Sun Wukong would try to end the battle as quickly as possible and she turned it against him. Those Mud Shots weren't random either. Every strike had the purpose of driving MK into an already established mud puddle." Now that they looked, everyone could see a collection of mud puddles had decorated the battlefield.

"This may be a practice battle but she surely isn't playing around. Those two are going to need to get their heads in the game if they don't want to get steamrolled." Pigsy watched his young employee and the monkey demon pick themselves off the ground.

MK wiped the mud covering his face and Sun Wukong dusted himself glaring at their opponents as they did so. Bao Chang had an impish smirk and Atlas looked unimpressed. "Come on boys! Shape up now or get left in the mud!" Astra had yet to see anything convincing from the Monkey King.

It was time to give them a little push. "If this is what the rest of the battle is going to be then you might as well leave. When it comes to teaching, you must put everything you have into helping your student grow. So far, I see a monkey with an overgrown ego dragging an innocent young man to an early grave."

The Frontier Brain stared at the duo in utter disappointment. "MK can't thrive if you don't get off your high horse and actually help. You tell him to 'Believe in himself' but you have yet to show that you believe in him or his capabilities. He didn't begin as a warrior like you Sun Wukong. He's a young man working at an earnest noodle shop and trying to find his path in life before you came in." Astra then looked at MK's friends in the stands.

"These people believe in MK and always have his back. I may not have known them for long but I bet they would put down their lives to help him. It is the same with me and my Pokemon as well. If we don't work together, then none of us are going to grow properly not just in strength but as individuals." The Frontier Brain then bore her apple greens into the Monkey King's stunned amber.

Despite the difference in age, her eyes held a type of wisdom that even he couldn't compare to: the ability to unite others. "Are you going to start acting like a proper teacher and work alongside your pupil? Or are you ready to be responsible when he falls to an enemy he was unprepared to face because of your ignorance?"

Sun Wukong for once truly looked at his successor. He could now see how scared and worried the young man was, the weight of his position weighing down on MK. And in those brown eyes were a silent plea for help. Astra Valorous was right, he needed to clean up his act.

The Monkey King flashed his pupil a confident smile. "Hey bud. We can't let these guys stay in the lead. I think it's time we put our game faces on and truly act like teammates. What do you say?" He outstretched his paw to the young man.

Disbelief flooded MK before it slowly ignited into confidence and determination while taking the monkey's paw. "Yeah! Let's go get them, Monkey King!" A feral smile grew on the Frontier Brain's face at the sight before her.

"Finally got your confidence, eh? Then show us the strength of your newfound spirit! Atlas, use Dragon Claw and follow it up with your Thunder Punch, Bao Chang!" Jade green light in the form of dragon scales swallowed the Continent Pokemon's right arm while electricity engulfed the Playful Pokemon's left arm, both lunging at their respective opponents.

Wukong leapt off the ground after his respective opponent but MK did something else. Looking at the mud puddles all over the ground, an idea popped up in the young man's head. The Monkey King turned his head to look at his successor only for a blur to pass by.

MK was sliding through the mud as he used Riyu Jingu Bang to push himself across the ground for extra speed. A smile overtook the Monkey King while using his cape to block Bao Chang's Thunder Punch. Atlas brought his arm down to swat the Monkie Kid away but missed the young man as he slipped underneath the Continent Pokemon to come out from behind.

"Here comes the Monkie Kid!!" MK then swung his cudgel as it's magic made the staff extend forward. "Don't forget the Monkey King either!" Wukong's tail wrapped around Bao Chang's waist much to the Playful Pokemon's surprise. "Brace yourselves, Atlas and Bao Chang!" Astra's only warning before the cudgel crashed onto the Groudon's back while her trusty Monferno was tossed into the ground at supersonic speed.

Bao Chang managed to curl himself in time to minimize the damage from impact, Atlas skidded across the mud but stopped themselves by stabbing their claws into the ground. Both of their gauges went down as they were now tied up with the opposing team via critical hit.

"Quite crafty using the field to your advantage MK and nice thinking with the cape too, Sun Wukong. This is what I really want to see!" The Frontier Brain couldn't help grinning wildly. A sympathy shared by Bao and Atlas, both Pokemon were raring to continue the fight.

"I wonder if you guys can handle this! Bao Chang and Atlas, show them a taste of your teamwork!" A warning for MK and Sun Wukong to be on guard as Astra was up to something big. "Brace yourself bud!" Warned the Monkey King when his Monferno opponent leapt high into the air.

"Bao Chang, Flame Wheel full power!" The Playful Pokemon spun in place creating much larger and intense flames that swirled around the Fire/Fighting Type. "Now for step two! Atlas, use Flamethrower on Bao!"

"WHAT?!" MK and his companions watched in utter shock from Astra's Groudon exhaling a large stream of fire at their partner. Instead of breaking through the fiery wheel, Atlas' fire made it bigger and even more powerful to the point that spiralling streams of white flames descended onto the battlefield!

MK tried to use the mud on the battlefield to avoid the fiery ribbons but all of it had dried up from the intense heat. Wukong was fairing a bit better than his younger teammate, the monkey demon was a blur across the battlefield heading straight for Bao Chang.

"Atlas, leap into the air and spike Bao Chang with Dragon Claw!" The ground intensely shook when the 11 ft behemoth used their powerful legs to jump into the ground. Pure green energy circulated around the Groudon's right arm that once again hardened into large emerald claws.

"GROUDON!/ Team Attack: Draconic Inferno!" Howled Astra and Atlas, the Continent Pokemon brought down his energy claw straight onto Bao Chang with all the power they had. Something that turned the large wheel of spewing flames into a high speed meteor.

Bits of the dragon energy intertwined with the fire and its ribbons transforming it into a green tinted 12 tailed comet. Sun Wukong immediately braced himself for the blow only to see Bao Chang fly past him. His golden eyes barely caught the smug look on the Playful Pokemon's face.

It immediately hit the Monkey King that he wasn't the target… The target was…! "Hit the deck!!" Yelled the Great Sage at his young apprentice. Neither of them had a chance to react when Bao Chang crashed onto the battlefield itself, a massive explosion that made a fiery tornado on impact.

Both MK and Sun Wukong were immediately pulled into the vortex of greenish flames, their bars depleting to zero from the continuous strikes. Soon the storm cleared with both members of Team Monkie Kid were on their backs dizzy and a bit motion sick but not badly hurt.

There were some burns ranging from first to second alongside a few mild bruises. However it hurt mentally to both members, more so for Sun Wukong as his eyes saw their empty bars on the screen. The Handsome Monkey King, Great Sage Equal To Heaven, Sun Wukong…

...had suffered his first defeat in a very long time.

And that is it! I had to come up with a way to write this battle properly. Sun Wukong has faced gods before that's something people need to take into account despite his 500 year disappearance in the series.

As for sicking a Groudon on MK, I actually asked some of the people in my Discord about it before writing this. Atlas is a reserved Pokemon and I'll getting into that reason next chapter. Just know he's a little bit stronger than our Monkie Kid but not near the Monkey King's current level.

Stone Novas

Chapter 1: Noodles and Other Worlds

Astra and Bao Chang managed to escape their run-in with Macaque and get some assistance by one of the city's dwellers. They decide to explore Megapolis and what the city has to offer. Click here for Prologue. Ch2

Astra and Bao Chang had continued running on foot for quite some time, trying to get some good distance from Macaque's theatre. Did the monkey with a fire at the end of his tail was going to bring unwarranted attention? Yes, which was why the two went through alleyways with any good chance they got.

By this point, Astra could guess they were somewhere uptown since the area seemed more cleaner and decent unlike it's lower counterpart. The duo had slowed down their run to a walk before finally coming to a stop. Bao fell on his butt landing on the sidewalk in exhaustion while his human partner had her hands on her knees and tried to catch her breath.

"I think we're safe for now. *huff* What is with today and monkey yaoguai of all things? *huff* The redhead panted, all the adrenaline in her system finally petering out. "Mon ferno mon fer monferno!" Bao began making gestures with his fingers, pointing at himself and then at Astra in a self hug motion.

She was about to say something snarky when a voice caught her attention. "Hey! Are you okay?" Both members of the duo were greeted to the sight of a young man. He was about 5'7 in height and was a young adult who seemed fresh out of his teenage years.

Wild chestnut brown hair separated by a red headband with a bang hanging over it, orangish brown eyes to soft tan skin, a lean but strong frame from what could be glimpsed by his clothing. His outfit was a white shirt with a red and black target, red sweatpants, black sneakers and a yellowish orange jacket with the image of a smiling monkey wearing a circlet on the back alongside some cloud patterns.

The redhead merely gave him a smile before correcting her posture. "I'm fine. Bao and I just had a bad encounter is all. Right bud?" Astra questioned her Monferno companion. The Fire/Fighting Type gave a thumbs up in response as he got off the ground. Neither of them expected the young man to go starry eyed at the sight of Bao though.

"Oh my gosh! He looks so cute! I've never seen a type of monkey like him before! And his tail is on fire but in a non-hurting way!" The young man's child-like excitement paired with an energetic, soft and peppy voice made him seem more like a precious child than an adult. A sight that nearly made Astra chuckle at the display but she didn't want to be rude.

"My buddy Bao Chang is a Monferno so the tail fire is pretty normal for him. I'm Astra Valorous by the way and we just arrived in the city today." The redhead gave the young man a peace sign while the small monkey gave him a playful grin. "Wow! Your names are pretty cool! The name's MK! If you guys want to, you can bunk at my apartment for the night!"

Bao and Astra looked at each other for a moment. It was too late for any pawn shop to still be opened and it didn't seem like a good idea to sleep outside either. The answer was very obvious so MK had taken the duo back to his apartment.

Apparently the young man worked at a noodle shop called Pigsy's Noodles and was heading home after his shift when they crossed paths. Or that he was a huge fan of Monkey King as Astra was greeted to a few posters featuring the infamous monkey yaoguai himself in various roles.

And oh boy did MK flip when he found they didn't know about the Monkey King. "WHAT?! How can you guys not know about Sun Wukong, the Monkey King and one of the greatest legends to ever appear in China?!" Astra tried to not choke on her cup of noodles when MK nearly broke the sound barrier with a single scream.

The trio were seated in the living room of MK's small apartment, the brunette fixing some instant ramen for the odd pair to eat. Bao gave the young man the stink eye from the loud shout, the Monferno had put out his tail flame so the fire alarm wouldn't get set off. A natural born skill that she had explained to the brunette.

"Well, Bao and I are from Castelia City in the Unova Region. A place that is super, super, super, super, super far from China so the legend hasn't really reached it." Astra's answer seemed to suffice as MK had calmed down from his large outburst. He put his hand on his chin, a thoughtful look crossing his face as he mulled over the given information.

"Oh. That does make sense actually. I would love to tell you the story but all of us need to get some sleep and I have to work tomorrow." It was super late after all and Astra would admit she was running on fumes. A long story wasn't going to be good for anyone.

"Maybe some other time. Bao and I are planning to get a place here in the city anyway. Who knows? We can even share stories since Unova has a ton of interesting legends and history." A large giddy smile grew on MK's face upon the suggestion. So, Astra and MK promised to share some stories when the redhead got settled in.

Despite a massive debate about sleeping arrangements, Astra managed to sleep on the couch with Bao as their host reluctantly kept his bed. She was telling the truth about being out of town even if it was super stretched. It was a different world to be more accurate and Astra rather not have that particular information widespread.

It was almost comical on how she even got to this world. The redhead was an explorer of sorts, she likes to learn and thus travels a lot when the opportunity arises. Astra was actually travelling to a different world but had gotten her trajectory wrong and ended up here instead.

It wasn't a total loss though. She could easily go back to her dimension, although she had to find a reclusive place to do it. Plus, there was a lot for Astra to learn about in this new world. Would she probably tell someone about her otherworldly origins? Maybe depending on the circumstances and if they were a friend.

MK would be the first though. He didn't have to house them for the night after all. Kindness deserves kindness in the redhead's opinion. Plus, Astra had a feeling that there was something special about the young man. Like she could trust him against all odds.

Morning came at a slow pace thankfully so the trio wasn't as tired as they would normally be after staying up late. All of them had shared a decent breakfast consisting of eggs, cereal and toast before going their separate ways. First thing to do was get the natural currency then find a possible place to live. Astra decided to have Bao accompany her for these tasks.

A necessary precaution if they ended up running into Macaque again. The redhead knew it would be stupid to fight him by herself without backup. Finding a pawn shop was actually easy since there happened to be one near MK's apartment. Astra had a lot of good stuff to sell since exploring was a great way to find rare items.

In the end, she left the pawnshop with 3,500,000 yuan and the shopkeeper crying tears of joy. Next was to find a good place to live. Astra wanted it a decent distance from the city, secluded but not too far from the noodle place MK worked at in case things went south.

Luckily one trip to the library and internet search later, there happened to be an old house located in a decently forested area on the outskirts of the city. It was a fixer upper as the image showed broken windows, missing doors and vines entangling part of the infrastructure but it wasn't so bad. The home had two different floors, a basement, an attic, five bedrooms, a master bedroom, three bathrooms, and two kitchens for just 950,000 yuan.

Even with the cost of repairs, Astra would still have a sizable chunk of cash left to live on. It was around 12 when she was finally done with everything needed at the moment. Astra and Bao were currently walking down the street, the deed to her house safely pocketed in her bag.

"Okay. It took some time but we have a place to live. Do you mind setting up camp until we get a replacement door and fill in some of the holes in our new house?" The young woman looked down at her partner. Bao gave a thumbs up before a small look of surprise crossed the Pokemon's face.

Following her partner's line of sight, Astra realized he was pointing at a noodle restaurant. There was a sign at front with a logo of a smiling pig and the words 'Pigsy's Noodles' in large bold font. It was the restaurant MK said he worked at.

A mischievous grin crossed the ginger's face as she let out a chuckle. "Looks like we have some decent luck, Bao. Let's pay MK a visit and have some fresh noodles for lunch." The Monferno cheered happily and dragged Astra over to the restaurant.

It seemed to be a slow day as the restaurant was mostly empty. The place was quite modest from the simple booths on each side, the chairs set at the bar with a low hanging banner to obscure part of the kitchen except the cooking station, a few potted plants and portraits scattered about. A home type of feeling for relaxing any stress.

Astra had spotted MK sitting at the bar with two other people. The first was an older man with short dark hair, green eyes behind large glasses, and light tan skin around a few inches taller than the redhead. He wore a simple red hanbok tied by dark red string with gold lining around the edges, dark brown scarf and sandals. The few books on him gave the man a scholar-like aura.

The other, who Astra assumed was the owner and MK's boss, was a pig yaoguai about 5'2 in height. He seemed a bit rugged from the wrinkles around his eyes, calluses on his hand and even sweat seeping through the white polo shirt, white apron, work shoes and obsidian pants. MK was in his work clothing since he didn't have his jacket and the white shirt he had the shop's local on the back.

"Hey MK!" Astra called out, grabbing the trio's attention. The boy in question nearly shot out of his seat but managed to stay. It was probably because he didn't want to accidentally hit either of his friends. "Good to see ya Astra, you too Bao! This is my boss, Pigsy and my friend Tang. You guys, this is Astra and Bao, the ones I was telling you about!"

Astra seated herself at the stand next to MK as Bao sat in the chair next to her. "So you're the duo my young employee ran into the other night? Megapolis can be quite dangerous depending on the circumstances but I'm glad MK was able to help you." Pigsy spoke, his gruff voice filled with sympathy.

Tang seemed a bit more focused on Bao Chang from the inquisitive look on his face. "Very peculiar. Never seen any species like him before. MK said your friend was a 'Monferno', correct?" The slightly older man questioned as curiosity could be heard in his soft wise tone.

Bao merely gave the man an odd look but opted to stay polite and gave a nod in response. "Yep! Bao Chang is what people in my region call a Pokemon or Pocket Monster, his species name is Monferno. He's also my partner and best bud. In fact, Mars can explain it better for the group." As if on cue, something large and dark blue flew out of Astra's bag.

What appeared was an unusually large dark blue tablet around 16 inches in size, a blue horn sat on top while four metallic paws were on the corners, the lit up screen had two blue eyes and a large mischievous smile reflecting back at the group and a USB cable for a tail. Looks of wonder and intrigue crossed the faces of the four upon seeing the odd device.

"Greetings! I am Mars, Astra's handy Rotom-tablet! If you're looking for information on Pokemon or the various regions they inhabit then I'm your go-to guide!" The slightly mechanical voice of a young boy came from the peculiar device while they respectively bowed.

MK had a constellation of stars in his eyes that made Astra want to take a picture. And it was only going to grow upon her next sentence. "Please pull up the Pokedex entry for Monferno, Mars." The Rotom-tablet raised a paw in agreement before the screen quickly changed.

It now displayed an image of a Monferno alongside a back and side image with a pastel blue background. "Entry found! 'Monferno, the Playful Pokemon. A Fire/Fighting Type. It intimidates attackers by stretching the fire on its tail to look bigger. The larger the flame and brighter blue markings on their face shows high ranking amongst the group. Monferno's tail is just one weapon as it also uses walls or ceilings for aerial attacks.'"

MK had a look of understanding since he remembered seeing Bao's tail on fire before, Pigsy seemed off put by the info although it was probably because he doesn't want a wildfire in his restaurant, and Tang had an intrigued look as he pulled out a small notepad to write something down.

"You're so cool Bao! And you too, Mars!" MK said, sharing a fist bump with the Monferno and then the Rotom-tablet. MK's boss handed the odd duo a menu before giving Tang a sharp look. The glasses wearing man somehow had gotten a bowl of noodles from who knows where. "Are you going to pay for those noodles or do I have to chase you out again?"

Astra had a feeling that this wasn't the first time the scholarly man had dined and dashed the pig yaoguai. To probably save what's left of the peaceful mood, the redhead tapped Pigsy's shoulder to grab his attention. "I can pay for his noodles." All three friends had suddenly froze and just stared at the redhead. Mixed looks of surprise, shock and hopeful disbelief were written over their faces.

"REALLY??!" The trio exclaimu with their respective emotions. Astra merely took out her wallet to prove how serious she was. "How much does Tang owe? I can at least pay for part of it depending on the amount. Plus, I came here to celebrate since I found myself a decent house."

Tang looked ready to fly out of his chair in glee while Pigsy remained silent in absolute shock before slipping over the scholarly man's tab to the redhead. The Frontier Brain raised an eyebrow in mute surprise at how much debt this one guy had racked up. All of it by dining and dashing this one noodle shop.

"Here you go Pigsy. Oh and can I get a bowl of Zhajiangmian please? What do you want, bud?" Astra looked at her Monferno partner while handing the shop owner the money for Tang's tab. "Monferno ferno!" Bao chirped happily whilst his tail wagged happily.

"Bao wants a bowl of Sichuan Noodles." While Pigsy took the menus and went to fix their order, MK looked at Astra in pure confusion. His face made a bunch of mixed gestures like the brownette was trying to find his words. It took about a minute before the young man spoke.

"Hey Astra, can you actually understand Bao Chang? All I can hear him say is Monferno or bits of said word and that's it." Tang perked up at MK's inquiry, he was also curious about it too. Mars decided to answer for the redhead. "That's simple! When a person forms a strong bond with their Pokemon, they can easily understand the other. If the bond is strong enough, they can even communicate through eye contact!"

Seemingly satisfied, MK moved onto small talk for the duration of Astra's time at the restaurant with Pigsy or Tang joining in. The odd duo and Rotom-tablet had left once the brunette's break was over since he had some orders to deliver. With lunch out of the way, Astra decided to explore more of the city and what it had to offer.

"This place definitely earned the name Megapolis. It's so big that I'm pretty sure someone can get lost here for days!" Mars said whilst he sat on the young woman's head. Bao Chang had latched himself to her back with arms around Astra's neck and head pressed to the redhead's right shoulder. The trio were currently at a small park near downtown.

A sight that warranted looks from some bystanders than just Astra taking pictures. "You might be right about that. By the way, has enough sunlight been accumulated in the tank yet? Aniani would no doubt want to try a sample of the sunlight here." The redhead said whilst she took a picture of some finches bathing in a small bird bath.

Mars pressed a paw against their screen, the glass lit up to show a sun emblem with most of it red. "It's currently at 80% charge. The sunlight here is actually denser than back home so the charge will take a bit longer but it'll provide more energy!" Astra let out a pleased hum from the given information.

Apple green eyes drifted to a small hidden compartment on the side of her bag. The redhead had a small somber smile on her face and looked at Bao. "Mon fern fe monferno!" Astra giggled when the Playful Pokemon licked her face then began to groom her hair. Mars floated to her side giving the Monferno more access to his partner's red locks.

"You sure love being a little minx, don't you bud? Any sign of a frown and Goofy Bao makes a return to fix the problem." The redhead gave a few scratches underneath Bao's chin who cooed by the gentle affectionate touch. Astra looked up upon a sudden small odd shadow floating above her.

Flying before her was a small brown butterfly bearing beautiful wings decorated in different patterns consisting green, gold, orange and reds, bright sungold eyes alongside a long monkeylike tail. Something about the butterfly felt largely off to the woman as she couldn't help but stare.

A stare that broke when something dark violet a bit larger than the butterfly tried to ram it. It was a pure black moth with wings covered in violet moon like patterns, bright magenta eyes that held an eerie glow and a soft dark violet aura around the body similar to an outline.

Both insects didn't seem to like each for they were glaring daggers at the opposite. "Very odd." Mars spoke as he contemplated the peculiar behavior of the two animals before them. Astra took out her camera and caught a picture of the butterfly and moth who looked ready to attack the other.

She would've taken another picture if the sound of ringing didn't go off. Taking out a red cell phone from her pocket, Astra looked at the screen for a moment before letting out a groan. Looking back and forth, the redhead then made a brisk walk for one of the empty alleyways.

Both insects that were butting heads quickly went to follow the odd trio. The two bugs found the small group at the end of a dead end alley. Bao Chang was standing before Astra while Mars snuggled himself back into her bag. The redhead took out the pure red ball that Bao Chang had been summoned from.

"Return Bao Chang!" A bolt of lightning came out of the device and struck the Monfero. The Pokemon turned into light that was sucked inside the sphere as the item snapped shut. Astra then placed the item into her bag and took something out of the small hidden counterpart.

It was another type of ball like the other but was a soft pastel blue bearing a large gold star on the top and around the size of a marble. Well it was small until Astra pressed the white button on the front which made it expand to the size of a baseball. "Aniani, guide us back home!"

And she tossed it high into the air, it opened to shoot a large burst of golden light to the ground. What emerged from the bright bolt of energy was anything but that. To any witness, which were the butterfly and moth, this entity was a creature of darkness incarnate.

A vaguely humanoid being that stood around 8'9 in height whose body was made completely of dark crystals from unknown origin. These crystals were so dark that any light would be swallowed upon contact. It's torso and chest resembled the top half of a dragon's skull where the arms came out of the sockets, the head nestled into the back of the skull between the four back spikes and legs jutted from where the nostrils would be.

A large plating laid over the back of the head that had three spikes jutting down the center with the white back displaying a black star symbol in the middle, the face had only narrow rainbow eyes that could remind anyone of a kaleidoscope from the jagged red, greens, orange and blues that sparkle differently. Thin arms bearing large 3 fingered hands, spiked elbows with a large white crystal that darkens at the tips on the back of each hand alongside big draconic claws.

Spindly jagged legs that end with three odd hooked talons: two positioned a bit higher than the one at the bottom. "Necrozma!" The beast or Aniani let out a short roar that literally dimmed the light of the blue sunny sky for a split second before returning to its normal brightness.

"Sorry for letting you out a bit early, Aniani but apparently there's a problem back at the gym. Can you take us back to the Battle Observatory please?" Astra's voice was soft and gentle with every word she spoke that sounded truly comforting.

The crystalline beast responded by pressing their forehead against the ginger and carefully nuzzled her to avoid any accidental harm. She let out a soft chuckle and nuzzled the gentle creature back. "You're such a sweetheart, Aniani. I got a treat for ya once we get back." Aniani let out a soft chirp before gently picking up Astra in his claws.

Unknown to either of the two, both moth and butterfly had slipped into Astra's bag. The crystalline beast's prism eyes glowed brightly as a crack formed before them. It looked like a piece of reality was slowly breaking until the crack broke into the form of a large light blue portal that looked like it was leading to a cyan tunnel.

Aniani held the redhead tightly in their arms making sure she was secured before flying into the tear in reality. The portal slowly shrunk until nothing was left but untouched space almost if it never occurred at all. All that was left is an empty dead alley alongside the residue of leftover ancient magic.

Astra has now met MK, Tang and Pigsy but seem to have some hitchhikers on her trip back home. Mars also made his official debut, art of Mars, Astra and Bao Chang have been posted on my main blog so I will be setting a link for it too than just the previous chapter.

Is Astra going to be a mother figure for MK? Yes she is, it'll be a slow build for the parental bond to fully solidify. For anyone curious and also because I forgot to list this, Astra is actually 37. She just looks like someone in their 20s. Kudos if you have a clue on the moth and butterfly's identities. Bonus kudos if you can figure out the naming scheme for Astra's Pokemon.

There will be one more chapter before I go into the actual episodes of Season 1. Also, I do believe Pigsy will have a huge tab on Tang for all the noodles he tends to eat without paying. He probably wouldn't force Tang to actually pay in a threatening manner but still keeps a tab if the scholar does decide to pay it off one day. Any new Pokemon will have their pictures added at the bottom of each chapter. This is for folks unfamiliar with Pokemon.

I will be going back between the Pokemon World and LMK world with this fic. Next chapter Astra will return to her Battle Observatory and deal with some unwanted guests. Until next time folks, see ya back at Megapolis.
