PIF and DBK tried for kids during the 500 years Wukong was imprisoned, but it never went well.

So they ask their long-time friend Princess Jade-Face for an unusual favour...

A tiny little girl is the result: 1/3 Fox spirit, 1/3 Demon Bull, 1/3 Celestial. Having the floppy ears like a cow calf and the bushy tail of a fox kit, little "Ping Ping" still clearly takes a lot after her second mother - her silky black hair and large beauty mark making it obvious that Iron Fan had a hand in her creation.

Wukong meets his niece for the first time and is immediately wrapped around her little finger. :3

(*at Flaming Mountain; the pilgrims and the Bull fam are all sitting down for tea. Ping Ping is running around playing with Ao Lie.*) Wukong: "So how did our little firecracker get here?" PIF: "It's a little complicated... me and Bull tried to have a baby on our own for many years." DBK: "Sadly it wasn't meant to be." PIF: "And we could not bare another disappointment. So we reached out to Jade-Face here." DBK, flustered: "And well er... since my queen could not carry our child, we made the offer to Jade Face to um..." Jade-Face, teasing: "He speaks as though it were lewd!" PIF: "We simply asked her to be part of a chi-sharing ritual, and to drink from the Mother-Child River so she would carry our combined child." Jade-Face: "I was overjoyed honestly! Father had been pressuring me to marry for a while. By declaring me their partner and mother to their baby, it solved two issues in one!" PIF: "Then around nine months later, Guanyin blessed us with our perfect little Ping Ping." Wukong, adoring: "Awww!" Zhu Bajie, finally speaking: "Why did you name her Duckweed?" PIF & DBK: (*both try to suppress laughter. Jade-Face looks dramatically embarrassed.*) Jade-Face: "My cravings were horrible! Normally I adore tofu, but when I was carrying Ping Ping, I couldn't stomach it!" DBK: "Thankfully, Nezha visited early on and introduced her to duckweed to help meet her nutritional needs." Jade-Face: "It was so tasty, I couldn't get enough!" PIF: "And soon we joked that the baby might as well be named after it." Wukong: "Ah! So, Píng [萍]-Ping!" Ping Ping, wandering over: "Yes?" (*the family shares a happy laugh as Ping Ping wonders what was so funny.*)

Ping Ping is an energetic princess, rarely staying still for long. Which can be a hassle for her worrisome parents, when they find her room empty after a long day of studying.

She loves stories about her Uncles, and how they and Baba stormed Heaven, only for Baba to meet her Mama, and they decided they wanted each other instead. She's also told stories about her Aunties, and how they can't visit too often because Heaven is really mean to Mama for leaving it.

Jade-Face isn't absent from the picture either, despite the family's unusual situation. Having an extra doting parent comes in handy whenever the two Bull royals are busy with governing or negotiations. Ping Ping takes to calling Jade-Face and Iron Fan; "Jade Mama" & "Iron Mama" respectively.

Ping Ping is an absolute Daddy's Girl, no matter how old she gets. This makes DBK's imprisonment especially hard on her emotionally.

How does Red Son happen then?

Well... Iron Fan and Bull had been so deep in parental bliss that they had an "accident" where they forgot to take a certain potion to prevent pregnancy. The fact that the resulting pregnancy was developing strong and healthy was a huge shock to both of them! They def had a long conversation with Jade-Face about what they might do, and how she might feel about the pregnancy. Jade-Face was firm that she wasn't going anywhere, and that if the second Bull calf is born' they will need their Jade-Mama to spoil them as rotten as she does their big sister! Lots of emotional hugs are shared between the three.

Wukong is the next informed about the second baby since he missed out on the first. He's a blubbery mess when they ask him to be the godfather.

The later pregnancy and birth turn pretty scary at some points... but thankfully Iron Fan and the baby turn out safe and healthy. Ping Ping is overjoyed to meet her baby brother! And she declares him under her protection, no matter whay!

Sadly, the little Bull's powers begin to creep in...

The Samadhi Fire ritual is quickly organised after Ping Ping suffers a burn stopping her baby brother from hurting himself. Things occur as they do in canon, with Wukong slipping at the last moment, and the True Fire splitting into four rather than three.

Ping Ping is happy to have Red back after he comes home "from the doctor" - overjoyed that he can now finally run around and play with her without setting their surroundings aflame. However, the burn scars on Ping Ping's body are a stark reminder to the family that their younger child's powers need to be tamed as he grows older.

Ping Ping is only the demon equivalent of a pre-teen when her father is imprisoned for his rampage. The event has a lasting impact on her as a young girl.

Whilst her little brother dove into his research and his inventions, Ping Ping went into melancholy. Her mothers tried their best to meet the teens' emotional needs, but it was difficult. Ping Ping would always be her Daddy's Daughter - no sentence from Heaven could change that.

Though while Ping Ping can be withdrawn, she makes sure to be the pedestal that raises her little brother up. The young bull doesn't like possibly making his Mamas sad, so Red Son comes to his sister with questions. What is their Baba is like? What's his favourite food? Will he even like Red Son now that he's grown up? Ping Ping always makes sure to answer Red's questions enthusiastically - making sure to include how much Baba cried with happiness when he met Red for the first time! She doubts he'll ever think if his children any less than that.

Ping Ping is present the day her little brother raises the Monkey King's staff sealing their father prisoner.

And she may have been responsible for accidentally pre-ordering tofu and duckweed noodles to celebrate - causing them all to meet a certain cute delivery boy she's been crushing on! (ﾟωﾟ；)

Might call this Au; "first bull princess".

I've abandoned Ping oopsie, take some interesting interactions as I dabble on this story, doing some relation building through the flashback brotherhood era

Training requires new weapons. And under King Red's orders, the two monkeys train together inside the daochang.

Of course, they both get very different weapons from their usual skillsets as mandated, and with power restrictions as is they gotta work with what they got.

Wukong was granted a Máo, since it's close enough to the staff however is still different enough to be it's own thing. It's also what the former Monkey King is more comfortable with.

Macaque however, despite having access to some of his shadow powers, opted for some Shuāng Jiàn, which are dual blades for efficiency and fast movements.

Of course, King Red monitors their usage of these weapons to make sure they can't use them against him. As such he keeps a close eye on where the weapons are at all times and only allows them out of the Daochang during missions to recapture MK.

What Starstruck Dee theory have people made that is your favourite?

there have been quite a lot, and i genuinely love them all!

early on i think the most popular theory was that she was possessed or had been possessed at some point, most likely by dark matter. she actually debunked this theory personally, but i think people just assumed she was lying! 😂

my favourite part is not any one theory, but watching a shift in thoughts over time as more things are revealed, and seeing people share theories/work together in comments and reblogs. i like the "OOHHH WWWWHAT...!?!" moments a lot; whether they are a reaction to my storytelling or to other folks' detective work!

early theories revolved around how she was weird for a waddle dee, or at least a native of popstar. despite my never explicitly confirming anything to the contrary, theories have now broadly shifted to assuming she is not from popstar at all, and most people do now generally agree she's not really a waddle dee.

i don't recall exactly who first came up with each theory (though some big players are @the-void-is-a-disappointment who did a huge amount of early deetective work and encouraged me to build it as a story for solving, @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream, @graycoin and @jojo-schmo) and i'm not sure which of these theories are still held by anyone

but here a few of my favourites, roughly in order that they started appearing...

♻️ she's a total mimic species like kirby or void, copying things around her either by intent or by accident 🗑️ similar to above, but she's an incorrect copy or a "beta" mock-up type of a waddle dee 🧚 that she was just born different, like a fae changeling, and might have been hidden away when young as a result 🕰️ she is something totally inorganic and/or mechanical, created by or like the clockwork stars or stardream, perhaps wish contingent 🥇 sometimes attached to the above, she was created to serve some sort of Greater Purpose. she might have failed at it or been flawed, and was subsequently discarded on popstar 🌠 a dozen and one wildly different things connected to the "falling star that hit her". alien life form on the meteor transferred into her on impact. infection by intergalactic bacteria/dark matter. simply massive concussive trauma that fucked up her signature (back when we thought that was the only thing wrong with her). the star was magic and fused with her. she hatched from it and is literally a star herself. probably missing some here. 🪐 waddle dee from a different place/planet. this one is quite a sensible theory, given that we do see many quite different dees! 🤍 she is a fragmented piece of void/void termina. this one in particular i know is @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream 's ongoing theory and she's put in a lot of really cool work towards it! ⚔️ she's somehow connected to the heroes of yore. this theory i think has only started popping up since galacta knight has become a reoccurring visitor in her storyline and we've started asking questions about her familiar looking magic spears, but you can certainly 1hko @moonverc3x with this one 🧿 she's connected to the matters. sometimes soul, because it's sometimes star themed and lacks a token representative. where as a connection to dream might link her to fecto forgo/fecto elfilis in some way (a creature also well known for a catastrophic meteor attack). i've also seen folks confident that she's connected to heart matter as well, probably again due to everyone's favourite grumpy swan showing up

this is all i can think of or locate right now, but there's been a pretty wide range of things. i feel there has been a rather interesting transition over time from "she's a messed up waddle dee" to "she's probably connected to a universal superpower of some kind" which i am genuinely really really thrilled about?! 😂 what a glow up for a pathetic little wawa!!!

i'm also personally really fond of seeing how people's existing biases influence what they can find and draw connections in. for instance: i know @jojo-schmo loves the forgotten land and elfilis, and digs into those connections and draws out some really cool stuff because her knowledge is already so specialised! i think this is the true highlight of working on this story for me, people theorising and engaging in the lore, and laser pin-pointing things that tie into our personal faves-- the way we tend to do with kirby lore as a whole-- is such uninhibited delight

i sincerely hope people will enjoy where starstruck's story does go, in the end!!

hello hello sorry for not updating so long! (i’ve cooled off on the fandom rip, adhd is a cruel mistress and i’m simply her little lapdog.) but that being said i have some noid wips as a fun little exercise!
