More dragon rider disability headcanons for disability pride month!

(Ones specifically abt Hiccup are here)

Ruffnut has hypermobile EDS (when the twins were doing some bit that was basically Guinness book of world records she said smth abt 'worlds stretchiest skin' and my mom made a joke and said 'ruff has eds!' And it stuck)

A joke Ruffnut loves to make is saying Tuff is so insufferable she should just run away to join a circus and become a contortionist. She thinks it's the funniest thing ever

Hiccup also has some weird hypermobility stuff going on, when Ruff learns this she calls him a fellow circus freak (affectionate) and offers to let him come with her when she runs away. The response she got was "I'd rather stick my hand in Fenrir's mouth."

Tuff is visually impaired in his right eye from a childhood injury (another joke taken seriously)

All the riders are neurodivergent!

Snotlout has a frequently irregular heartbeat as well as memory issues due to how many times he's been struck by lightning. His whole book he wrote in that one episode isn't the only writing he does, he keeps a notebook to help keep track of minor things he might forget.

Astrid tries to make Hiccup breakfast in bed when he's having bad pain days and is too tired to do it himself. She almost burns the house down every time, so Toothless will go and get the other riders to help out while Astrid is kicked out of the kitchen and sent back to bed

Hiccup can be really fucking mean sometimes! Usually it's intentional bc he's in a bad mood and wants to be left alone. If it's seemingly unprovoked though, the others know it as a sign he's likely in pain and needs to be left alone (he still insists on getting work done but usually Toothless annoys him into resting)

Astrid has aches in her leg from when she got shot with that arrow, it being poisoned with dragon root did something to mess up the healing process so its worse than other old injuries (Dragon root isn't poisonous to humans but still having it in your blood stream isn't a good idea). She's also very mean when she's in pain, especially because it ruins her schedule since she can't train. Eventually her and Hiccup come to an agreement when they're having bad pain days they'll meet up in one of their huts and just. Sit together enjoying the others comforting presence but rarely talking

This is because Hiccup and Astrid both hate being in pain in front of people, they both share that almost extreme fear of vulnerability and the best they can do is take comfort in each other

Hiccup and Fishlegs are hyperfixation buddies! Fishlegs is the only one who doesn't get mad (it's just fond exasperation) when Hiccup wakes him up in the middle of the night to infodump, they just bounce off each other talking about dragons until woah suddenly the sun is rising and that is when Fishlegs gets upset because he values his sleep

All the riders have burn scars of varying severity. They literally work with dragons there's no way they wouldn't. And they all deal with their pain in different ways, but are unwavering supportive of each other when they can be

I've said it before and I'll say it again, a lot of characters should be disabled.

I know, cartoon logic and all, but the things that happen to these guys are things that should affect them for the rest of their lives. And watching characters struggle with permanent change like that, the realization you can never go back to how things were, and eventually healing and learning that's okay! You can still find happiness and be happy and it doesn't make your pain any less valid! It's so important to me and that's obviously reflected in my interpretations of my favorite characters lmao

May 2023

band: the whole eurovision journey from befriending all the contestants to Bojan's date and eventual engagement with Käärijä to the band giving condoms to everyone and their mom to the rehearsals to the iconic turqoise carpet to the Käärijä sauna to the voting promo to the qualification to the finals to Bojan licking the camera and to Joker Out becoming pretty much esc legends despite finishing 21st in the final. the beginning of everything, absolutely chaotic but i wouldn't imagine it any other way

fandom: the formation this sounds cliche yes but i was here since April 2023 and it was... very silent. the non-esc related jo stuff were limited and people were still discovering them so yeah i was sitting here hoping that after esc people would stick around so we can scream together about the band as a band and not only as esc contestants. and thankfully people did that and here we are now 🥹

June 2023

band: first international gigs the gigs in Dublin are one thing but then came the announcements of the Nordic tour, the Warsaw gigs, the headline gigs in Novi Sad and Zagreb... honourable mention to Stožice going sold out

fandom: Tavastia 1.0 there's absolutely no way i will even forget how the jo, ka and esc fandoms had a collective meltdown when Bojan casually showed up in Helsinki and then joined Käärijä on stage on both his Tavastia gigs (mind you both as a singer and as a dancer lmao). no wonder why this moment still has a chokehold on all of us. 9th of June 2023, you will always be famous

July 2023

band: the appearance of Demoni scream i know that festivals and the first UK run were important and gave us some iconic moments too (like some slay outfits and Jan's sparklative confusion), but the damn Demoni scream is so dear to me it kinda tops it all. it's so good to see how Bojan embraced it after that first time (2/7/23 in Škofja Loka) and now there can't be Demoni without the scream/growl/whatever you wanna call it

fandom: the Jance wedding on stage iirc the Jance brainrot had started spawning before 29/7 but that Saturday night was the cherry on top. so glad we got to experience this live as well since there was a livestream going on that night and we saw Jan putting the veil on Nace himself <3

August 2023

band: the Koper gig i wasn't even there okay but judging from the content and people's comments on it, it was probably one of the most iconic jo gigs. also my favourite jo video in existence is coming from that night (here) side note: i've been to Slovenia once in my life, 11 years ago, and funnily enough we were staying in Koper and i recognised the place they had the concert. anyway, visit Slovenia and Koper, it's a very nice small seaside town and it's worth the visit <3

fandom: the collective screaming about things to be completely honest i don't remember much from that month in terms of fandom, but i kinda remember how most of us had started diving into the band's past more and more and “new” old content was posted almost every day. videos, photos, gifs, interviews, the amazing @jokeroutsubs translating more old content...

September 2023

band: Nordic tour i won't even start talking about this because you'll never hear the end of it. we all know what the Nordic tour was. even the release of SSOL, the first single after esc, can't top this whole thing, sorry

fandom: google drive content and *shocked gasp* Nordic tour another collective meltdown for the fandom. first being bombarder with backstage videos on a damn google drive folder (that ended up being a frequent occurence in the following months) to the whole run of the Nordic tour. do i need to say more? i feel like i can't. only this: Nordic tour, you will always be famous

October 2023

band: Stožice not much to say here either. they sold out a whole arena months prior to the actual concert date. it was their moment. a milestone (probably their biggest to date). and it was amazing to witness this in any possible way, whether it was by attending the concert or watching an ig livestream or keeping track of the photos and videos of that night

fandom: Stožice and Halloween outfits the chokehold both the Stožice and the Halloween (aka pilots and flight attendands) outfits had on the whole fandom... also love how we collectively agreed that Kris' Stožice outfit was his version of Princess Diana's revenge dress and how the Halloween outfits sent the fandom into a spiral in means of creations (fanart, fanfics etc)

November 2023

band: the whole touring well they did have a number of gigs during November and they seemed to be having so much fun 🥰 so much that at the end of November they announced their first proper european tour

fandom: collective screaming about things once again i mean all the gigs were feeding us well. the outfits alternating or not, Jance/Bokris moments, Bonace getting more spotlight (Bojan was and still is going through something during Demoni and Ona like wtf was he doing to Nace was it the serbian lyrics waking up something wild in him 😭😭😭). there was a lot going on back in November… honourable mentions: this Bokris moment, cvjetits (x x) and Kris riding Jure

December 2023

band: the whole Munich experience there's a good chance jo don't remember their whole stay in Munich for the first time as one of the best ones ever, especially if they think about the 1,5k euro taxi they paid as part of making it to The Hague in time for the next gig. but if anything, i feel like this captures their whole vibe as a band; ✨purely chaotic✨

fandom: european tour vlog and Bojan with the bi flag we waited for a long time for a Nordic tour vlog. maybe we didn't get it as an individual video but even as part of the whole tour vlog it was great and definitely worth the wait. also it was a great xmas gift let's be real 😌 now Bojan with the bi flag was probably not a very huge fandom moment and my bi ass may be biased here (this rhymed lol), but seeing him wrap himself with the bi flag followed by that speech before Barve Oceana in Barcelona will always be such a precious moment to me and i'll cherish it forever 💖 note: when i saw them last month in Munich i immediately started crying when i heard the first notes of Barve Oceana live; not only because i love the song and i finally heard it live, but also because i instantly thought of that moment of Bojan with the bi flag and the speech)

band: Joker Out cooking livestreams London era my beloved (i never thought i'd say this about a city in the UK out of all places). their whole stay in London was an Experience both for the band and the fandom but well they got their chance to show the world they can cook besides playing music and they did. now let's not get into the kind of cooking they did, but the livestreams were very entertaining and bless them for doing them 😅

fandom: death by Damon Baker's photos yeah no i don't think i need to say more here, i'm still not over those photoshoots and i still can't quite believe they actually happened. like?????????? jo???? photographed individually or not by Damon fucking Baker???? ugh 😫 on that note i want to add that i loved and still love how those photos sparked the creativity in this fandom. from analyses of each photo to fanfics to fanart to creating anything in general. one of my favourite moments of the fandom <3

band: release of Everybody's Waiting the whole road to the release of this single was Something with the band continuing the usual shenanigans and with Damon still releasing unseen photos of them. the release of it may have gotten us divided because of its language or the path they chose to take music-wise (it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's more than fine), but personally i like this for them. it's different, it showed a different side of them which they wanted to explored; they got a chances to do it and they did it. and you know what? it's so good live

fandom: death by Damon Baker's photos, Jure edition this could be merged with my fave fandom moment of January 2024 but this one is special because we just saw another Jure like WTF WAS THAT 😭 anyway i loved how we all kind of lost it when his photos dropped note: the moment Damon posted Jure's photos i was on my way to meet my friends in Dresden of all places and i was so shocked by what i saw i almost ran into a lighting column on the street 💀💀💀

band: Jan and Bojan playing the piano at every gig of the tour i could've said the whole tour is my favourite thing from this March and it's not like it's not, this is a big moment for the band. it's just that once again i'm a bit biased here. many people, my pianist ass included, wished there would be a piano or some keyboard on stage during the tour because come on if Jan plays the keys for Everybody's Waiting studio version then why not do it live too? and you know what's better? not only there was a piano on stage for the whole tour, but not only Jan but also Bojan played it. however, Bojan playing it for Everybody's Waiting and Jan playing it for Padam, Metulji and the cases where they had special guests (like in Estonia with Alika, Lithuania with Monika and Belgium with Gustaph)... those were not on my bingo card and they were the most pleasant surprise ever 😌

fandom: meeting each other at the gigs when the tour started and even though i knew i would go to at least two gigs, i was extremely nervous because this meant i'd probably come across other fans from here and social media in general. as a person with anxiety, one of my worries was how i'd be perceived and how i'd manage to not come across as a snob person because i'm shy and scared to talk to people i don't know. as the tour went on and i saw people meeting each other irl after only knowing each other via tumblr/twitter/instagram, i got more nervous but also had a warm feeling in my chest because seeing people meet, bond over things they like and have fun at gigs together is actually very wholesome 🫶 i hoped i would get to experience this too at the italian gigs but i was still nervous. and then, around the middle of March, i made the spontaneous decision to do the Munich gig too, but instead of getting even more nervous i just got myself on autopilot. and i'm glad i did because if i hadn't i wouldn't have met some of you neither in Munich nor in Milan or Padua. i wouldn't get to trade stuff and joke about things and talk about fandom stuff or even about fanfics lmao 😂 anyway, point is that i most probably was worried about nothing. i got to meet so many people at the gigs and i had so much fun despite the inconveniences that may had showed up in the way (i don't wanna talk about it tbh) and everyone was so welcome and lovely i'll never shut up about it 😭 also i’m taking this opportunity to say that if we attended the same gigs but didn't get to meet, i'm so sorry about it really but we will do it at some point i'm telling you! and i also wish i get to meet more of you from in here so we can yap about things outside of tumblr too. btw i still have stickers to give away and i will make more whenever the time comes again <3

Demo. Weirdly enough, this man hates fireball and whisky in general. He's drank the most foul shit before, like even hard-core drunks would be nauseous at the thought, but no, the cinnamon gets him. He also just doesn't like how whisky feels and tastes.

Engie hates classical music to an insane degree. Like he doesn't hate the the music itself, he can admit the fact that Motzart and Beethoven sometimes go hard as fuck, but this man definitely emotionally tied to his emotions, it just makes him anxious.

Heavy hates mice. Like give him any other rodents, and he's fine, but he despises mice. And he's not even scared of them or anything. He just has this irrational hatrid of them. (No doubt when he was young, his mom made him chase off mice that wound up inside and made up a reason for him to hate mice that he just can remember).

Medic hates bugs. If anything in nature should be able to have multiple limbs and eyes, it should be something he made goddammit. (Half kidding) Also, they just think they're annoying. They tend to bother him while he's working because of the bodies he keeps. It's not fun to pick up a corpse you didn't know was rotting already and have maggots fall all over you.

Scout hates those like Live, Laugh, Love signs, and the wine mom decorations he just thinks they look so stupid, his mom has so many 😭 Also, he can not stand peppermint or mint in general It makes him so sick.

Sniper can't stand slugs. He likes snails, thinks slugs are natures greatest mistake. Ask him why and all he can say it "Well, it's naked, innit?"

Spy hates when he's already mad about something, and then someone says something about it. Like when he's obviously pissed and someone goes, "Jeez, someone's in a mood today." He has grabbed people by their throats over it.

Soldier hates when you have something in your hand, put it down for a minute, and then it disappears. Like it drives him insane, well, more insane than he already is.

Pyro hates q-tips, cotton balls, and Styrofoam. They hate the textures, the feelings, and the noises they make. It makes their skin crawl.

in all, piper can't compete. she also can't do much to percy either except being a bitch. (i also loved ur characterization of drew in the essie book and i'm looking forward to meeting her in act 4).

percy would totally be like "omg what's her damage" every time piper acts cuckoo, but eventually she'd start to see the red flags due to her experience with.... you know.... her yanderes.

🍭 i always use my own first name in my drs, but switch up my nicknames (which sometimes dont sound anything like my real name). the reason for this is because if i can't have anything but memories from my dr in my cr, i'll bring something from my cr to my dr. hearing my s/o call me by the name my parents gave me would feel so intimate and personal, and makes it more special imo. it's the name i'm used to, whether it's aesthetically pleasing or not. i also feel that it'd help me adjust to my dr quicker after shifting in - because if i woke up in a whole different place with a whole different face and a completely new identity, i already know ill be going bonkers. hearing someone call my cr name will help calm me down, and i'll feel more in tune with my dr self.

🍭 i have a light case of synesthesia (tasting shapes, hearing colors etc) and it definitely affects the way i approach scripting. each of my drs has a highly specific color, theme, taste, and/or sound; and to be honest, i feel like this made meditating and hyperfocusing on my drs super easy. hearing a certain song immediately makes me think of a scenario i scripted, or helps me embody the person i am in that dr. because of these connections i make subconciously, i'm able to enter the void state pretty easily and experience intense symptoms. i have other mental blockages that have been stopping me from shifting thus far, but we're working through them! it's only a matter of time.. ヾ(`ヘ´)ﾉ

🍭 one thing i'd like to add is: i feel like we all subconciously associate things in a similar way, whether you have synesthesia or not. my stance is that making connections to your dr through music / mood boards / colors / sounds / etc is super helpful, and helps you slip into your dr headspace in a much shorter amount of time. the connections you make literally become triggers, and once you shift for the first time, you'll likely be able to do so again if you use what triggered you previously.

About Santino and John having arguments

Yeah, I actually didn't talk about this AHAH but now I will!

Before anything have this:

Santino x John headcanons

Alright, they would usually fight over Santino's stubbornness and about something that has to do with his job. For example, Santino had enough of smth and he just wants to send his squad over to kill half of the other clan, but obviously that isn't the best idea bc High Table stuff yk, and John has to talk him out of it. In that case, Santino just doesn't want to admit that he is wrong. His idea makes perfect sense to him because he is currently feeling like that, but John is thinking clearly and knows that if Santino does that, it will start a war in the High Table. So, Santino just becomes a little asshole to John because he is convinced in his plan. John doesn't yell at him like Santino does at him, he tries to handle this all calmly.

But you know Santino can actually hit his nerve sometimes... and he snaps back, actually raises his voice at him, and that leaves Santino kinda schoked, stunned for few seconds. Because no one yells at Santino and John is the first person (and the only one who is allowed) to yell at him and not end up dead. Usually, John, after he yells at him, feels bad because in that very moment, he saw how Santino's inner child got scared. He feels guilty, he knows Santino's past, his childhood, and he just yelled at him. So, he quickly tries to apologize and explain what he meant to say and how worried he is for him, but sometimes Santino would just snap back, insult him in Italian and English and turn to leave into the bedroom. Or sometimes, Santino would actually realize that he was wrong and listen to John. Or actually just rage... like if he's in a horrible mood he explodes LMAO. But that really just depends on his mood. Basically, everything depends on his mood.

Another thing they would argue is about Santino's bad habits. That's usually when Santino refuses to eat because he is too focused on what he is doing. It gets sometimes childish when John goes "I'm not leaving you alone until you eat at least one piece." To which Santino just sighs so dramatically and is like, "Why are you acting like someone's dad? No wait... someone's mom." It's not a very serious fight, and John always explains that he needs to eat because it's really affecting him badly (for example, he lost weight but to the almost unhealthy amount, he is pale, he feels dizzy, etc) and he is worried, he cares for him. And well, Santino just can't say no when he John gives a whole speech on how much he loves and cares for him. So, he listens. Most of the times he does.

There are arguments where it gets a little intense. Like how I said, when John yells at him and just sees how Santino kinda... got scared in a way of his inner child responding to that. And he gets hit with feeling guilty. Or when he insults Santino because he gets so scared for his safety. For example, Santino got hurt, shot at or anything, and John found him like that and out of fear called him "idiot". Because at that moment, John doesn't know how serious the injury is. He just feels so scared, and the insult just slips out. Of course, he regrets that he loves him. He doesn't want to hurt him.

Santino does pretty much the same thing, except his insults are in Italian. But he does get extremely scared and worried if John is hurt. Yk, they insult each other when they're scared and worried for each other in dangerous situations. However, Santino can be very spicy. He actually admits that and always apologizes later on to John when he brings up his past. Just how John regrets yelling at him bc he sees how Santino gets watery eyes, it's the same when Santino uses John's past in arguments. He regrets it, he really hates that part of himself because he realizes how fucked up that is.

And just other stupid little arguments over anything. Like a basic married couple. They can argue about anything really lmao. But yes, John is the only one allowed to argue with him. Everyone else... should start planning their funerals.

John is usually the one that wants to reconcile first. Because well, Santino can throw the act of "staying silent". And John can't stand that because he feels so guilty and just wants everything to be as it was. "I'm really sorry, please talk to me." And John just becomes like a puppy wanting Santino's attention. But Santino can't stay mad at him for too long. Especially after he gives him those puppy eyes. And if he snuggles him, kisses his neck and keeps murmuring how sorry he is, eventually Santino stops with his act and snuggles him back. And John just becomes like a little puppy wanting Santino's attention.

Santino would want to reconcile when he feels really bad. If the argument was just because he was not feeling okay, he just feels so guilty. And his way of reconcile is slowly just getting closer to John over the day, starting a random theme, and then apologizing and explaining how he is really sorry and that he just didn't feel so good. (John finally taught him how to express himself ^ ^). And since John can never be angry at him, he hugs him and kisses him... and it would sometimes end up with lovemaking.

Lovemaking is a way for them both to reconcile. Either a nice slow, emotional sexy time, or more rough so they both feel how each other felt emotionally. And it's Santino who begs John to just be more rough then ;)

So yeah, these are all I could think of for now. They just can't really stay mad at each other for a long time. It's really like the intimacy of being understood 🖤💙

Azul and Riddle: Azul is more insecure between them, and Riddle is more awkward with romance, right?

So at the beginning of their relationship, Azul is initiating way more, and Riddle can sometimes deffo be awkward when receiving affection. Dismissive about compliments, rolling his eyes at Azul's cheesy pickup lines, etc.

But the thing is: Riddle DOES love Azul (no really?!?!?). He's just awkward about showing it verbally. He invites Azul to Unbirthday parties and his mood is usually notably better with Azul there (Ace will never stop complaining about Azul getting preferential treatment from Riddle NEVER), gives Azul leftovers from stuff Trey made, introduces him to the porcupines, even helps him with Flight Class!!!! Helping Azul with Flight Class requires an insane amount of patience for obstinacy and consistent insistence that "i'm not struggling, I'm just admiring the scenery!" "no free lunch; I must repay you!!!!!!" and it is a testament to his character growth (and love) that riddle puts up with it without collaring azul at some point.

so basically gift-giving and quality time vs words of affirmation and touch as love languages. And Azul being insecure fails to realize that riddle is in fact madly in love with him and that he's just not good with expressing words of affection (because of his mom) and he's not used to affection (also because of his mom mrs. rosehearts PLEASE STOP CONTINUING THE CYCLE OF ABUSE YOUR SON WILL GO NC AND YOU'LL DESERVE IT)

And Azul gets upset but he doesn't ask about this openly or anything no no not at all he's ~ 𝓹 𝓮 𝓽 𝓽 𝔂 ~ about it (because as i've probably said before book 6 azul did NOT know what communication meant) and Riddle's upset because Azul's not telling him the problem and Azul's upset because Riddle's even colder and then-

Something pushes it all over the edge. Maybe a Heartslabyul guy tries to shovel talk Azul or something after seeing Riddle's bad mood or whatever, but it gets pushed and they have an argument.

Ofc because they're my otp and i can't have 'em breaking up it ends happily after the messy fight and they learn. Riddle realizes he can be too cold and end up not consider how Azul feels and Azul realizes he needs to COMMUNICATE HIS FEELINGS ffs instead of just being vaguely petty and hoping riddle takes the hint (like this one scene in the kaguya sama manga where to give kaguya the cold shoulder miyuki gives her slightly cheaper gum than he gives someone else,,, and he's like "omg I'm so cold" that's azul except unlike Kaguya riddle doesn't even notice lmao he's just like "thanks for the gum")

TRAUMATIZED BABY'S FIRST RELATIONSHIP!! YAHOOOO!

I has a bit written and then it deleted itself after I exited the app GODDAMMIT! But it was about Azul being an extra person and accidentally scaring off Riddle a little yeah! Azul's used to physical contact with Floyd who's constantly leaning on him and his supportive family (Mom, stepdad AND grandma? save some for the rest of us damn). It's an entire mission to so much has hold hands for longer than a minute.

Azul getting preferential treatment at Unbirthday Parties... god ace's always getting the short end of the stick isn't he?? I love the third wheel Ace joke so bad. Anyways back to it... hm.. Azul getting upset and not communicating. To be fair Riddle DIDN'T tell him that he was just following the law (You can't practice medicine on people under transformation potions without a specific license) by preventing Azul get hurt in the first place. He may have more experience talking things out (he's the overblotter with arguably the most progress) but he still may say or do smth inconsiderate and sour the mood unintentionally 😭 I can see it. Racking up those misdemeanors. Attempting to help him coming off as bragging and Azul's just too sensitive when it comes to food and is a subject that needs to be treated delicately (which isn't ANY of ncs strong point... especially considering the way the game itself treats it)

The little time they spend with each other becoming tense and Riddle can't figure out why, while Azul keeps thinking that his message is getting across though Riddle just starts getting snappy and curt back. The relationship becoming more stressful than it may be worth... they're BOTH sobbing into their pillows at night. Azul is a little crybaby during their confrontation, which probably kicks it off. It's more of an angry rant about how Riddle totally sucks and Riddles just like "why didn't you tell me any of this EARLIER???"
