WOOT. It's not just gym memberships, despite the headline. It's every subscription product and service sold in the US.
Under the rule, businesses can’t force customers to cancel a subscription using a method different from how they signed up. For example, if you signed up for a subscription with an online form, companies can’t require you to call them or chat with a live agent to cancel. The FTC will also require businesses to clearly disclose the terms of their subscriptions and get customer consent before charging them.
The rule, which was first proposed last year, applies to any automatically renewing subscription, ranging from difficult-to-cancel gym memberships to magazine subscriptions, and monthly payments for services like Amazon Prime. It also covers free trials that charge if you don’t cancel in time, along with continuity plans where you’ll receive periodic product shipments until you cancel.
The FTC actually doing its job and acting to protect customers instead of businesses has been such a wonderful change over the last few years.

Xianyun had learned that Rex Lapis was having the time of his life living as a mortal in Liyue Harbor, but couldn't figure out why.
She loved humanity, but upon moving to the harbor to emulate them herself, she quickly realised how wide the gulf was between immortal leisure and mortal struggles. Taxes...mortgages...customs that had been watered down through the centuries, morphing into ideals and practices that Xianyun could barely recognise. And as impressive as the Jade Chamber was (though the crane was too proud too admit it), there seemed to be a dearth of intriguing mechanisms and contraptions that could hope to hold a candle to Xianyun's own wondrous inventions.
And she had to find a job to be able to earn Mora to exchange for goods and services?! Surely even one as patient and accepting as Rex Lapis would find many of these day-to-day human tasks quite tedious, no? So then why...
She's pulled out of her thoughts by the unmistakable sound of Rex Lapis' laughter, ringing like ceremonial bells that could render even the most chaotic of crowds silent in reverence. Intrigued, she follows the sound and finds him sitting on some steps - but he's not alone.
You're sitting beside him, sidled up to him and chatting away animatedly, your words prompting even more pleasant laughter from the old god. He's feeding you little bites of almond jelly from a cup, keenly watching while you relish the taste. He lights up even more (Xianyun didn't think that was possible) when you give him a thumbs-up and lick your lips with a smile.
The emotion swirling in Rex Lapis' amber eyes...there is no doubt about it, it is love. Xianyun then notices the matching rings you and him wear, and suddenly it all falls into place.
It is you who makes even the mundane seem exciting to the god. When you have a beloved companion to brave the challenges of mortal life with, anything seems possible. Evidently Rex Lapis himself understands this, and that's why everyday, he comes home to you as the mortal named Zhongli, happily taking on the role of your husband.
Xianyun turns away from the scene, a newfound understanding dawning upon her. No wonder Rex Lapis always looks positively radiant these days.

Lesson Learnt Pt. 2 | John Price x Reader
Summary: After the initial incident that caused your meeting, Johnny sets you and Price up on a date at a little diner nearby.
Word Count: ~ 2.5k
Warnings: can’t say much w/o spoilers but random men, ghost being moody, Johnny being overly friendly, working in customer service…
A/N: idk what happened something possessed me when I made this, it was supposed to be fluff but then it exploded. hope you enjoy<3
Requests are open!
Previous | Masterlist
Weeks had passed after the initial incident, and your life had quickly changed.
You’d broken up with your toxic boyfriend, now wondering how you hadn’t seen it earlier, and why you hadn’t listened to all your friend's advice and thoughts on him. You’d moved out, blocked him on everything, and found a new apartment closer to your simple job as a barista. It was enough to keep the bills paid, for now. At least until you finally got out of college with your doctorate in nursing science.
Having been in college for nearly eight years now, and not living in the dorm (there were far too many incidents on campus for you to trust any sort of campus police, not to mention the generally shady system of coverups) made it a little bit harder.
Student loans were threatening to suffocate you, but for now, you would focus on one day to the next. All of this, the annoying days that drug on, or the hard times, would all be memories before you knew it, and it would be worth it. Or at least you hoped.
Today wasn’t one of those super slow-moving days where customers were ordering hyper-specific drinks or getting the suspiciously old lemon cakes, only to complain about how stale they were, as if you could do anything about it. No, today was relatively normal, customers minding their own business after ordering, coworkers having idle chatter.
“M’ taking my lunch break.”
You said to your close coworker, Laney. Her honey-brown eyes shifted over to you, and she nodded with a little smile.
“Don’t take too long, might miss some cute boys.”
She teased, knowing full well all of your opinions on relationships right now. You wanted to wait until you had a stable income and were out of school. She’d heard it only about a million times. You huffed a soft laugh, deft fingers untying the knot in your apron as you set it up on a hook, walking out to your car.
Lunch break was about 30 minutes, which was more than enough for you to drive to the nearest cheap restaurant and pick something up. Clicking your key button and heading towards where you heard the beep of your car, you opened the door, sliding into the worn leather. It wasn’t a new car, not by a long shot, but it was your old faithful, and it had served you well for nearly ten years in a row.
You started the car, muscle memory kicking in as you drove to that place right down the road from your work. It was past the chicken shop, a place you would refrain from visiting for a while after seeing some undercover cops staking out there one night.
You turned and pulled into the parking lot, glancing around before opening your door, only for the cold air to nip at your bare arms, when you decided to slip on the warm leathery jacket, with the fur on the inside. The one that the man, John, maybe, had given you. You’d lost the piece of paper with their numbers on it to the washing machine, but oh well. He didn’t look like the type to live around here, anyway, so it wasn’t like you were going to see him again.
Walking into the restaurant, you strode to the front, placing a quick little order and paying with your card, before choosing a small circular table in the corner to wait for your food. This place was usually quick. You idly scanned the guests. Two large men sitting together, chatting. An older woman and what was probably her husband seated with a younger man and woman. Maybe some sort of family double date? A nervous-looking teenager sitting alone, knee bouncing. An old, thin man seated at the far end, mumbling incoherently to himself.
Not unusual.
You pulled your phone out, idly scrolling through social media before your name was called, and you got up to go collect your food.
~
“You sure?”
“M’ tellin’ ya, it’s exactly what Gaz said she looked like.”
Simon glanced out at the girl his sergeant seemed so certain about. He wouldn’t lie, you did match the description pretty decently. Just as he opened his mouth to point anything out that fought against Johnny’s claim (just to spite him, obviously, not because he liked watching Soap get all frustrated and start rambling on for an hour on end), he noticed it.
“She’s wearin’ cap’s jacket.”
Johnny’s brows rose as he snuck another glance at you. You grabbed your tray of food, walking back to the small little corner where your bag was on the seat. You were wearing their captain’s jacket. The brown leather, the slight fuzz in the sides and insides, the buttoned pockets….he wasn’t sure how he hadn’t noticed it earlier.
“Hell’s bells, been wonderin’ where that thing went.”
Simon only gave a little grunt in reply, eyes narrowed on you before he glanced back at his food. He didn’t want to seem a creep. He already knew he was intimidating enough to the normal civilian, and one of his “I-want-to-eat-your-firstborn-child” glares (named by Johnny and Kyle) probably wasn’t helping.
“Sounds like Price’s found ‘imself a pretty birdie.”
Johnny lit up at those words, a devilish grin lighting his features, one that Simon usually only saw before he demolished buildings or people with explosives. He was already dreading it before it came out of his mouth.
“We shoul’ set ‘em up on a date.”
“No.”
“Don’ tell me it wouldn’ be a good idea. Might keep him from giving us so many sprints at training, yeah? Ya know he’s been overworkin’ us lately…”
The slight pause Simon took was all Soap needed to continue spewing his disarming, convincing words that usually always worked on his Lieutenant. His lips further curled into a grin as he went on.
“He’s been so tense lately, jus’ let us do this for ‘im, help him relax some…”
“Fine. Get on wit’ it.”
Simon finally relented, suddenly finding his food very interesting to look at as Johnny got up, striding over to you with a confidence one could only expect from the Scotsman.
He glanced up, trying to subtly watch as his sergeant approached you. You were on a call with someone, the phone held up to your ear by your shoulder while you ate your fries, the main entree of your order already gone. When Johnny walked up, you immediately sized him up.
Paranoid. Simon didn’t blame you, living on this end of town. The only reason he and the guys stayed here was for the cheap flats they could get when on leave for a few months. Price had a little house more up South, but never visited it much, letting it gather some dust.
You took the phone from your ear, muttering something to whoever was on the other end, and hanging up. You raised a brow at Johnny, who in turn gestured to your jacket and struck up a conversation. Johnny was trying to look unthreatening, he could tell. Sitting down so he wasn’t standing over you. A small, easygoing smile. Trying to make you laugh, and succeeding a bit.
Five minutes in, and you were seeming more comfortable with him. He wrote something down on a napkin from your table with a pen in his pocket, handing it to you, giving a teasing wink which you snorted at, and walking back over to his and Simon’s table with a huge smile.
“Wha’ did you just do?”
Simon asked, suspiciously eying Soap.
“I set our cap’ up with a date.”
He beamed, and Simon only sighed, knowing that Price wouldn’t take it too well to be sent on a date with a girl he’d only just met a few weeks ago. A girl that hadn’t texted him since. But maybe, just maybe, it would go decently.
~
That had been one of the strangest encounters in your life.
A Scottish man introduces himself as a friend of Price’s, saying something about working together at their jobs and telling you he recognized the jacket you were wearing. So much for not ever seeing John Price again, considering his friend had just set the two of you up, and given you the man’s number too. All the while the gruff-looking man had sat at Johnny’s table, watching the interaction.
It had made you more than a little nervous, but nothing had gone bad. The Scotsman had been friendly, and even funny, but not pushing too far.
And now you had a date on Friday night.
When you got back to work, off of lunch break, Laney helped you into your apron, tying the knot for you like she always did.
“You’re late, what took so long?”
She knew you weren’t usually ever late. Always on time, punctual, even. You managed your time properly.
“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you.”
She grinned at that, nudging you with an elbow as you started taking orders.
“C’mon, spill it.”
And you did.
You began with the incident a few weeks ago, which she’d mostly already heard about, then told her all about the Scotsman and his friend, and finally the date on Friday. Right when you were about to finish the story, you felt your phone buzz, and you took it out to check it despite usually keeping it on Do Not Disturb. A text from an unknown number, but you knew who it was.
“Sorry for my muppets bothering you, they don’t know how to keep their mouths shut.”
You snorted in undignified laughter, replying while an older customer complained, mumbling something about ‘this generation and their phones’.
“I’m assuming you’re talking about Johnny?”
“Yes, the one that barely talks in coherent English.”
“Aw, he was funny. I liked him.”
“Don’t go liking him too much. We apparently have a date on Friday.”
“I’ll see you there, then?”
“See you there.”
You finally silenced your phone, slipping it back into your pocket as you went back to work with a noticeable pep in your step and a warm, fuzzy smile you offered to customers.
Laney certainly noticed.
When your shift was over, ending quickly, she talked to you while walking out to the parking lot through the back exit.
“I can help you get ready for the date, if you want?”
She offered. You’d be stupid to deny, with the impeccable makeup and fashion sense that she had.
“Sure, I can swing by at 3. That’ll give you plenty of time.”
“You have any shifts the rest of the week?”
“Barely. Just little half-times I squeezed in between lecturers. Last year’s always the busiest.”
“See you Friday, then.”
You beamed at her, sliding into your car as she walked to your own.
“See you Friday.”
~
Some of the days passed in a blur, some dragged on slower than ever before.
Eventually, though, Friday rolled around, and you were sitting in your friend’s chair as she did your hair, your makeup light, but good. You were wearing a simple outfit, some clean jeans, and a cute brown sweater over your white shirt.
It was 4:30, and you had only thirty minutes to haul your ass out to the nice diner the both of you were meeting at for dinner.
“It’s fine, I need to go. Seriously.”
Laney gave you a look, but reluctantly started putting all her things away. You hugged her, mumbling thanks in her ear, before grabbing your purse that had all of your things in it and walking to the exit of her quaint home.
You drive to the diner, finding the parking lot to have the familiar old car you’d seen Price driving in the first place. You parked got out of the car, and walked into the diner, only for the server up front to inform you that you’d already been paid for, and she led you to a table where Price was seated.
He’d tried to dress nicely, you could tell. Beard combed and hair done, dressed in jeans and a comfortable-looking dress shirt. He gave you a small smile as you slid into the booth, and there was already a tray of crinkle-cut fries in the center.
“Hope you didn’ mind that I ordered, big fella like me needs a lotta food.”
He said with a chuckle, and you grinned.
“I don’t mind, trust me, my older brother devours food like no other.”
He smiled, a little bob of his head before his brow raised in mild curiosity.
“You got a brother?”
A nod.
“Yeah, name’s Gary. He’s quiet, but we love ‘im for it.”
“Me and the boys are just about brothers, wish they’d be quiet for once.”
You snorted at that, taking a sip of your water before the waitress came by and you ordered your meal. Price’s was the first to come out, he’d ordered a full English breakfast that the diner somehow served, despite it being around dinner time. Yours came out next, and you both idly chattered about your life, family, jobs (he was apparently military and off on leave right now, not that you minded), and whatnot.
When he was about more than halfway through his food, his phone began buzzing, and his face went serious as he held a small finger up to you with a slightly apologetic expression, taking the phone call.
He listened, and you simply continued eating your food, not minding. Everyone had to take important calls every now and then, sometimes it just wasn’t avoidable.
He gave a few gruff yes’ and no’s, before sighing as he replied for one last time into the phone.
“I’ll be right there.”
When he clicked off the call, shoving his phone into his pocket, he gave an apologetic look.
“It’s an emergency, can’t stay. ‘M sorry.”
You nodded in understanding.
“Is everything alright?”
You asked, and he nodded, face set in what looked like a grim determination. He called a waitress over, paying the bill before you both got up. He gave you a light pat on the shoulder as you both walked out, right before you went to your car.
“We could do this again, if you’d like. With no interruptions.”
“I’d like that.”
He breathed an audible sigh of relief at that.
“I’ll text you when I can.”
Before he began walking to his car, getting in. You walked to yours, opened up the driver’s side door, and slid in before you saw his jacket sitting on the passenger seat. Cursing to yourself, you grabbed it, having it in mind to go take it to him before he left.
Before you could move, though, a hand clasped over your mouth.
A cold prick of pain in the back of your neck. Liquid.
“Don’t scream.”
A voice warned as if you could make any noise at all with a hand over your mouth.
An overwhelming sense of heaviness overtook you, and your vision began swimming, before turning black as your eyes fluttered closed.
“What’re we getting ‘er for?”
“Bargaining chip.”

Whispering
Lilette Suarez x fem! reader
Warnings: age regression, sickfic, fluff, mentions of vomiting
“I’ll be right beside you, holding your hand.”
You were currently in the middle of an eight-hour shift. Sometimes, you’d be bored out of your mind because no customers come in at all, other times it’s so busy you had no time to catch your breath. All in one shift. Thanks to a lack in manpower lately, you’ve been working several consecutive shifts per week for the last few weeks.
Saying you were exhausted was an understatement. However, you didn’t want to just be home all day. You could never sit still if you were home just doing nothing. At least you could earn some income while at work. At home you were just…resting. When you could’ve been productive. You were at shift four out of five for the week. And even though the job didn’t require a lot out of you, it was a heck of a lot of dealing with people. Having a customer service job at this (dying) cinema had its perks. But five days a week times 7 to 8 hours? Once you got home your whole body ached and you just felt like crying because you were not an extrovert. Why this job? This was the only place that got back to you out of the countless others you applied to.
Waiting for the time to go by was like torture. It feels like you’ve been stuck in an endless loop, living the same day over and over again. Little things were starting to set you off, you were growing irritated very easily and you had to physically stop yourself from ‘giving attitude’ to a customer.
“y/n! The iPad’s been going off for so long— do you not hear it?! Accept the order and make it!” Your co-worker yelled from the little break area in the back. You snap out of your daze, doing as she told you to, on autopilot. You were even thinking. You just went up to the iPad, hit the ‘accept’ button and made the snacks then brought it to the outside of a hall to meet with the customer.
Then, silence. You stood in the concession stand/box office, back leaning against the countertop staring at your shoes. A few seconds later, abrupt laughter from the same coworker startled you. Your heart began to race momentarily, so you took deep breaths. Which…turned into a sigh, honestly.
The staff door slams, jolting you as your head snapped towards the direction. Coworker number two has returned from their lunch break. Well, extra break. They went to smoke outside.
“Can I go for my lunch break? I get off at five and I usually don’t go this late.”
“We have a lot of patrons coming in for the next show. Go after that.”
You inhaled sharply, biting the inside of your cheek, “Right. Gotcha.”
You made it through that showing, then was finally on your lunch break. What made you lose it was dropping one of your gummy bears on the floor. You literally started weeping as you sat at the table. Then your phone rang, which you answered without checking.
“What?” You sniffled.
“Are you okay?”
Shit. It was Lilette. You thought it was your mom calling to talk to you about something absolutely redundant. Lilette doesn’t call you while you were at work, ever. She knew you couldn’t be using your phone at work other than during break times.
“…no.”
“What happened, baby?” She asked.
“I’m just tired.” You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose as you sniffled. “It’s been too much. I feel myself wanting to regress but I can’t— Lil, I can’t be doing this.”
“I can come get you.” She offered softly, “Do you want me to?”
“No— no, I— I’m not allowed to just leave like that. I have two and a half hours left.”
Lilette sighs quietly, “Will you let me know if you need anything at all? Stay online with me, alright? Text me whenever you can, we don’t have to stay on call.”
“Kay.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” You confirmed feebly.
“Okay, baby.” Lilette said before you hung up and finished your lunch then went back to work. Like you’d promised her, you chatted with her via text as often as you could while you worked. It was honestly a way for her to figure out how you were doing without directly asking you. She knows from the way you text how regressed you are.
You knew she was worried about you, but there really was no stopping her from doing that. You’d be telling her that you were okay but Lilette could see right through you all the time. After clocking out, you grabbed your bag and just sped out the door before anyone could stop you. You didn’t even take off your name tag. You were simply focused on getting the hell out of there.
“Hey.” A familiar face causes you to stop in your tracks.
“Lilette?” You squinted at her. “Why—”
“Wanted to pick you up.” She leads you to her car. You sat in front with her, like usual. She buckled your seatbelt before you could and then got into the driver’s seat and promptly started driving— to her apartment. She knew after all, she knew you wouldn’t be able to get any rest at your own home since you still lived with your family. They always wanted you to do something, so Lilette took you to her apartment instead. Plus, they didn’t know where she lived so they could never locate you.
————
“Baby— your name tag. Take that off first.” She reminded you, your grip on the hem of your shirt loosens and you removed the pin from your shirt. While you did that, Lilette got a change of clothes ready for you. Took her a moment to consider, but she quickly decided on a comfy pyjama set. You followed her instructions without saying a single word. Lilette watched you closely as you carried out the task, her worry for you was immense. Her knowing exactly why you were in such bad overall condition was because you have been seriously overworking yourself.
You plop onto her bed, sitting with your legs on the side and looking up at her. You pout your lips, doing grabby hands to get her attention. Not that you needed to because she was watching you very closely. It was almost instantaneous, that switch flipping in your mind—metaphorically.
“I got you, mamita.” Lilette swiftly sat next to you and wrapped her arms around you. “I got you. It’s okay, you can rest now, baby. D’you wanna lay down?”
You shook your head, burying your head in her chest, tears just falling from your eyes with no pause. “Don’t feel good.” You hiccuped, struggling to even get those words out in the first place. She shifted herself so she wasn’t sitting on the side of her bed, then urged you to move up too. You did that, then you were swiftly attaching yourself to her side once again. “You don’t feel good?” She asked, running her fingers through your hair and massaging your scalp. You nodded, one hand clutching at the fabric of her shirt.
“Is it your head? Or your tummy?”
“My head.” You could barely talk, your voice was shaky and you were trying your hardest not to cry. The motions of her fingers on your head proven themselves to be helpful are several minutes, because she saw that you had nodded off. So she tried to remove herself from the spot beside you and go grab you your meds from the kitchen just to have them on standby for when you woke up. You got startled awake though. Then you were crying once again, so she got shocked and rushed back to your side. “Honey, what’s the matter? Hey, I’m right here, alright? I’m gonna stay right here, I promise.”
Yep, she wasn’t going anywhere now.
“Baby, stop pulling your ears—” She says, but you were wailing. So she stopped talking, hands holding onto your wrists.
You were completely incoherent even when trying to tell her something. Eventually after a full minute of full tears and snot, you went ‘ow’. Lilette sat up straighter, hands now off your wrists.
Gently cupping your face in her hands, she swipes your tears away with her thumb. “Hey.” She shushed you softly, “Hey, baby, look at me.”
While blinking profusely, your eyes slowly looked up into hers. “Your ears hurt?” She asks, pointing to her own to make it clear to you.
You nodded, sniffling. She wipes your nose clean with a tissue before asking, “Can I take a look, mamita?”
You nodded again, lips still quivering. She was being very careful not to pull on your ear to hurt you even more. “Can you close your eyes for me one sec, baby?” She requested. Once your eyes were closed, Amber took a peek into your ears with the help of the flash on her phone to see if there was any visible redness. She couldn’t see any of that so she figured it must’ve been an inner ear thing.
“Baby, you have to see a doctor.”
Oh boy, you heard that last word and begged her not to take you.
“You’re not feeling well, baby. We need to make sure that owie goes away.” She strokes your cheek, “I want you to feel better.”
“…’m scared.” You revealed timidly, choking on a sob.
“I’ll be right beside you, holding your hand.” She whispered, “I promise.”
You agreed, so she immediately took you back to her car after making sure you had your ID with you for registration. Oh, and your favourite plushie(that she definitely had to wash later). But her priority was making sure you got checked out and had the medication to improve your ailment. “Here, baby.”
“Thank you.” You told her in a quiet voice.
Rubbing your back, her hand stayed there as she led you to her car. “Alright, we’ll be back home before you know it.” She very cautiously shut the doors because she noticed that louder sounds and noises hurt your ears right now. Thankfully, you managed to doze off on the twenty-minute car ride to the nearest clinic so it went by without a hitch.
Hugging onto your purple tie-dye stuffed frog tightly, she held onto your hand after locking her car doors and walking with you towards the clinic. You were wearing a flannel of hers that she’d left in her car since you were cold— the infection had you running a fever. As if it wasn’t already going to be a heck of a few days, maybe even a week. Lilette signed you in and told the front desk what was bothering you when they asked. They told you both to go sit down and wait. From the second you walked in, you’ve been staring at the ground. Only accidentally making eye contact with the nice lady at the front desk. She smiled at you.
You two wound up waiting for nearly half an hour before you were called in. As promised, Lilette hasn’t let go of your hand once.
Lilette knocks on the wooden door, only opening it when she hears a ‘come in’. “Hi there. They said you were having an ear infection?” The doctor asked immediately. While looking at you. You obviously were not going to be answering that. You never talked to strangers when regressed because you didn’t want to, or just didn’t feel familiar and comfortable enough with them. “She does.”
The doctor quirked a brow, gesturing for you to sit down on the examination bench. You don’t budge, then of course Lilette told you to before you went ahead. “That’s…an interesting thing to have here, isn’t it?” The doctor looked at your stuffed frog, “How old are you— 22. Oh.” He scoffed.
Lilette squinted, “Excuse me?”
“Yeah?” The doctor glances at Lilette as he reached for the otoscope.
“What was that?”
“What was what?”
“That comment you just—” Lilette bit back her words, pulling the curtain by the bench to shield your eyes from that anger bubbling up within her. She didn’t want you to see that. “Your job is to make sure a patient gets the help they need. No matter who they are and how they’re like. Who is she harming by bringing a stuffed animal into this doctor’s office? It’s an intense, scary place to be in. You don’t have her medical history and anything else related, you have not a clue what she’s been through. So just focus on what’s being presented to you that’s actually a problem you can and are supposed to help with. Do your job, care for your patients, not make fun of them and make them feel bad when clearly it’s the last thing they need.”
The doctor was silent. Lilette opened the curtain slightly, “Baby, could I borrow Ellie for a sec?”
“I’m sorry.” The doctor answered flatly.
You furrowed your brows together in thought, but handed it over. Lilette pulls the curtain open more. “Are you sorry? No, are you afraid of this harmless thing being in your space?” Lilette held it up, scoffing, her eyes nearly rolling in annoyance. “Take a good look at it, watch.”
The frog flies a short distance and hits him in the face before falling onto the floor. He didn’t react. At all. But his facial expression showed his embarrassment after Lilette’s words. Lilette hands the toy back to you, “Thank you, baby.” You smiled at her, confused. Then he just silently checked your ears then told Lilette the situation. With your hand back in Lilette’s and her brushing her thumb over your knuckles, you braved through it. Soon, he was writing you a prescription then sent you on your way.
Buckling you in the seat, she studies your face. “You good, bubby?”
“Wanna sleep.” You mumbled.
“That’s okay, mamita. Go ahead, hm? We have to pick up your medicine on the way so it will be awhile. I’ll wake you up when we get home.”
You murmured an ‘okay’ then just went to sleep, head resting on the frog’s. Lilette parks in the lot outside the pharmacy, right by the entrance so she could see you. She didn’t want to wake you up because you absolutely needed as much rest as possible. Thankfully, she was in and out of the pharmacy quite quickly.
————
You unwillingly got out of your seat and had her lead you back to her room once home. You were so ready to just get back to sleep but she had to get you showered, or at least change into a fresh set of clothes and take the medications. “Mamita, I’m just gonna need you to stay awake for me a few more minutes, please?” Lilette coaxed. “What snack do you want, baby?”
“Wanna sleeeeeep.” You sulked.
“I know, baby.” She bites back a sigh. You needed to have something in your stomach before you took the painkiller and antibiotics— your stomach was sensitive. And the latter tended to be quite harsh on your stomach, too.
“I’ll be back in a minute, okay? Lemme get you some milk.”
You laid down cautiously since the pressure hurt your ears. Also, your beloved stuffed frog was gone from your sight since Lilette left it in the kitchen to wash in the machine. So you settled for a teddy bear instead just to have something to hold onto. You hear her in the kitchen, the fridge door opening and closing. Then footsteps. She’s returned with your sippy cup of milk and the meds. You started to cry again while she convinced you with every way possible to drink them. “y/n. Your owie’s gotta go away otherwise you’re just gonna be not feeling good for a long time. Please? I’ll get you a popsicle when you wake up later?”
You didn’t say anything back, so she didn’t say anything and simply handed you your sippy cup. You were defeated, and honestly? So tired thanks to being sick. Lilette fed you both medications when you had drank half the cup of milk before she let you finish that off. “Ellie’s in the wash, okay? She’ll be all clean and dry tomorrow.”
You only gave her a nod as you handed her your sippy cup, your eyes were closing. Lilette however, sets your cup back down instead of bringing it to the kitchen so she could hold you while you slept. Without you mentioning anything whatsoever, she propped her own pillow under yours so your head was elevated hence taking the pressure off your ears and alleviating the ache. She sighs softly, watching your face. “You’ll be okay.” Lilette says while soothingly patting you to sleep.
Somehow, you were still in tears. It was such a pitiful sight, Lilette herself wanted to cry. Yeah, it was going to take a bit of time before the painkiller kicked in. The constant nagging ache coupled with the occasional sharp stabbing pain in your ears was like a combination from hell. Quite frankly, your whole head felt like it was going to explode and it scared you so you were basically clinging onto Lilette for dear life. “You’ll be okay soon, I promise.” She whispered, her hand continually going up and down your front in a comforting manner. You were now laying on your back, closing your eyes again like she’d asked. It was difficult to fall asleep being so uncomfortable.
“I love you, baby.” She presses a kiss to your cheek.
“…luv you too, mama.” You sulked, she cups your cheek and gave you another kiss.
“I’m sorry you don’t feel good, sweetie.” Lilette’s thumb still stroked your cheek. “Go to sleep. I’ll be right beside you, holding your hand.” She intertwined her fingers with yours and squeezed your hand, “Okay?”
“…‘Kay.” You mumbled, finally giving into the exhaustion. You fell asleep in seconds. But much to her shock, you woke up two hours in all flustered. Shit, the nausea you would get after taking antibiotics.
Lilette rushes to you from her desk, bringing the trash can to your feet. You swallowed thickly but it was terribly hard and painful to fight the urge after your stomach swiftly did that somersault. Before you knew it, you were bent over and spilling your guts into the trash. Lilette cringes internally but did what she had to do and rubbed your back. She’d luckily put your hair into braids earlier so it didn’t get dirty with the throw up. You didn’t have much in your stomach either, it was obvious. After a short while, you were dry heaving and crying your eyes out from how sore your stomach felt after the fact. Lilette was shushing you and whispering sweet words of assurance into your ears. She was whispering, yes. Terrified to be too loud and hurting your ears. Hurting you.
She helped you up to go rinse out your mouth in the bathroom. Once that was done, you basically just turned around and wrapped your arms around her, leaning your chin on her shoulder. Lilette’s palm reflexively found its way again onto your back. “You wanna sit down? I’ll get you a popsicle. A purple one.”
“Uh-huh.” You answered, nodding your head, your voice unclear and shaky.
She unwrapped her arms and walked you over to the couch to sit before grabbing that exact popsicle for you. “Here you go.” Lilette knew that it would soothe your throat for sure but definitely needed some more food in your system— actual food that could fill you up. Even if just for a little bit. So you weren’t even more uncomfortable from hunger.
“Thank you.” You gave her a tight-lipped smile.
“Want some soup?” She suggests hopefully. You agreed, she was expecting a ‘no’. Or more crying, to be honest.
————
While she was cooking in the kitchen, you stayed curled up on the couch hugging that same teddy bear for some level of comfort.
“How you doing, mamita?”
“…m okay.”
“That’s good.” Lilette hums.
After awhile, Lilette joins you on the couch when the soup was simmering on the stove. “You want a hug, baby?” She asks, smiling at you adoringly. Without a doubt, you leaned onto her and let her wrap her arms around you. You were cuddly when regressed and she knows and loves it. “Do you wanna watch some TV?”
You shook your head.
“No?” Lilette stroked your hair— which was slightly sweaty, from the day you’ve had. Carefully, she took off the hair ties and was massaging your scalp for you. It gave you some more relief, so you happily let her.
After turning the stove off, she decides dinner could wait and helped you with a shower instead while the fever reducer/painkiller was still in your system. You were too sick to object so you just let her, it went by faster that way. Because you were back on the couch soon enough, now watching some cartoons while she got dinner for both of you from the kitchen. You sat down on the floor when she walked back, so she did the same and both of you ate the food in relative silence. While you were engrossed in the show, Lilette slips away to prepare the next dose of your medications. Not forgetting this time that she had something to settle your stomach too this time. She found it in the medicine cabinet in her bathroom.
“Would you wanna do some colouring, my love?” Lilette smiled at you proudly when you swallowed the meds in no time. “Good girl.”
You smiled back at her, chuckling. Lilette pulled out a colouring book from the low shelf of the coffee table along with a box of crayons. “I’ll be right back, okay? Just need to wash these little cups and put the bowls in the sink right there.”
“Okay, mama.”
Not gonna lie…her heart melted whenever you called her by that term. It was sweet, there was a complete sense of trust she felt that you had for her. Helping you heal has been helping her too, she’s created a calm and loving environment for the both of you. Taking care of you made her feel a great sense of comfort and you being so cute just made her happy to see you smile. She’d do whatever it takes so you were happy especially when you were regressed. It heals. Both of you. There was no anger, no resentment, no unnecessary screaming. Just love and care and support.
She could feel you watching her. So she turned around and looked over her shoulder. Lilette smiles when she sees your face. “Hi, baby girl.” She grins. You laughed happily, the first time all day. Maybe all week, or all month.
“Hiiii.”
Lilette chuckles, “I’m coming, you cutie pie. Just one second.”
She kept the tiny medicine cups back into the cupboard then returned to her spot next to you. Actually, she even pulled you onto her lap after a short while, watching you colour while resting her chin on your shoulder. “That’s a really pretty colour, mamita.”
“It’s purple.” You beamed.
“It is, honey. Good job.” Lilette chuckles over her words. ”Who’s your favourite?”
“Mmm.” You hummed in thought, “The little ones.” Flipping through some pages, you stop at the sticker page. Peeling one off of the said character and sticking it onto Lilette’s arm, “That one.”
Obviously tickled, she laughs, “Oh, this one? Kinda reminds me of you, baby. Apple Bloom’s so cute.”
“Am I gonna fhrow up again?” You wondered.
“No, mamita. I promise, that medicine you took will help with that, alright?”
“…’Kay.”
“Okay.” She plants a kiss on your shoulder.
It started raining soon after, causing you to feel a little too cold for your liking. “You want a blankie?” She asks, palm against your abdomen, the warmth was comforting so you didn’t want to leave you alone even for just a moment to let her grab the blanket for you. “You don’t want me to get up, baby?”
“No.” You pouted.
“Baby.” She chuckles. “How about you sit here just for a second and colour?”
“Noooo.” You whined, clinging onto her tighter
Defeated, she picked you up. She actually picked you up for the first time and carried you then walked to the cupboard to get you a blanket. Granted it was only a few feet, but you didn’t want her to leave your side even for just a minute. “Alright, here you go.” She says while sitting down on the couch with you on her lap. She drapes the blanket over your shoulder then hugs you again, letting you snuggle up against her while you two watch the rain falling outside.
She kisses your cheek, “Do you feel a lil better?”
“Lil bit.” You smiled, showing a tiny space in between two fingers.
“I’m so glad, baby. Do you want me to read you a story?”
“No.” You said.
“You just wanna watch the rain?”
“Yeah.” You sat on her left thigh, both your legs resting across her lap as you nestled your head in the crook of her neck.
“Let’s do that.” She agrees.
“Thank you.” You sat up straight, holding her face in your hands and squishing her cheeks. Lilette chuckles, “Don’t need to thank me baby.”
“You help me.” You said, still holding her face, “I need say thank you.”
Lilette smiles, “You’re so welcome, mamita. I love you.”
“Luv you toooo.” You giggled, squishing her cheeks harder, so she laughs harder and peppers soft kisses all over your face. When she stopped, you kissed her back on the cheek.
“You’re so sweet, baby.” She smiled. You were just happy to be called baby, “Hehe.”
“If you wanna sleep, just sleep, hm?” She whispered, once again, her palm was going up and down your back very easily coaxing you to sleep. You were comfortable— the weather was nice and cool, it was the perfect way to fall asleep for the night. “Don’t fight it.” Lilette continues, “Rest up. You deserve the rest, baby. We have all the time in the world to do everything else once you feel better.”

Heya, could I request a secretly demon MC? They’re using some type of magic to hide their true appearance (basically one like a tiefling from DnD) and have a pact with The Devil, but are now suddenly trying to break it because the M6 gave them some type of hope for their life again?
Before the M6 even discover this, the MC was brash and selfish, also fairly quick to jump to violence (though probably not Vulgora level) and quiet about their past. How would the pieces click into place for them? In case you need any extra info you can just post that mentioning this ask and I’ll try to help
So sorry if requests aren’t open, your blog description says they are but I can’t find if there is a post also saying that so I’m not fully sure. If not feel free to ignore this!
The Arcana HCs: When MC's natural patron is the Devil
~ disclaimer: this request was work shopped a little with my requester, so you'll be seeing some different info in the setting. It was fun chatting with you, new friend, I hope you like these! - brainrot ~
-- some background --
Nobody knew when it was time to go up against the Devil that you were tempted to join him. While you never let on, his voice always spoke the loudest to you in the cards, and you relished the way his cunning nature enabled your own aggressive tendencies. While in the end you were able to work with your lover to preserve Vesuvia, you still feel a little guilt for the way his words continue to provoke you.
Julian
He's not going to judge someone for their past. The way he sees it, you're working with what you've got, and you're doing a fine job. If you're a little aggressive about it, cool
No seriously, he's kind of a fan. He got to watch you kick a rude customer out of your shop once and he still lies awake at night fantasizing about it
Let out some of your aggression with him. Please.
On a less indulgent note, he knows what it's like to have tendencies he's not proud of
It was a little daunting to tell him that it had been tempting to take the Devil's side and not live with any more constraints, and that you still struggle with some guilt about it, but he listened closely
He understands the feeling of guilt for something he didn't do, but still wanted to. He's quick to tell you how he relates to you, and to remind you of the lesson you taught him to live looking forward
Speaking of looking forward, are you sure you want to stay at the shop forever? You're not that well suited to customer service
Just saying, you have the potential to make a fine pirate ...
Asra
They didn't know of your affiliation until it came time to re-teach you magic, and the strong link they saw scared them a little at first
To be clear - he wasn't scared of or disturbed by you. He just knew firsthand what the Devil could be like, and he worried what kind of harm that affiliation might cause to the person he loves so much
It was another reason for them to be so secretive about your abilities - they weren't just waiting for your mind to heal enough to hear about the past, they were waiting for you to be strong enough to navigate a connection like that
He watched you when it came time to bargain with and subsequently trap the Devil, and he is so, so proud of you
Your short temper, aggressive nature, and quickness to violence are a different matter entirely. Everyone has things they struggle to control, that's part of being a person
They've spent years teaching you not to be afraid of or upset by your tendencies
If anything, they love the chance to see you let loose for the right reason. You're stunning when you're in your element
Nadia
You shake things up and she likes it
She's so used to maintaining total control of herself and biting back her immediate responses that your impulsive aggression is hugely refreshing
It's also a nice change when most of the people she interacts with prefer to hide their thoughts and actions as much as possible
Half the time you lose your patience and shout you just end up saying what she was already thinking
She's especially happy to find that you give as good as you get, and that the chances of her doing something you don't like without you letting her know is next to zero
She was able to perceive quite a bit of tension whenever you spoke to the Devil. She could tell how tempting it was for you to join him, and seeing your decision to resist only made her fall harder for you
As a result, she likes to challenge you to see your aggression as a gift instead of as a struggle
Have you considered some form of combat training? Fencing? Wrestling? You have a gift for violence, would you like to join her royal guard?
Muriel
You shake things up and it's better for him than he'd like to admit
If you're too quick to escalate things, he's the type who doesn't escalate even when it would be the appropriate thing to do
It was hard for him to get along with you at first. You remind him a bit too much of Lucio with your quick temper and loud voice, but you have a good heart
He especially saw it when the two of you were training under Morga. He came to recognize courage in your ferocity, and started to question what made a good person a good person
Of course, he didn't appreciate it as much when he was a little too close to your sparring matches and they started to get more aggressive than necessary
He's also quick to help you re-frame your guilt around your connection - you don't think he's a bad person after what he did, why would he think you're bad for what you didn't do?
He does value peace and quiet though, so he usually suggests that you stay in charge of splitting wood and other more violent jobs, just so you have a regular outlet
Portia
You have a short temper? She has a short temper too!
You're quick to throw a punch? So is she!
You two do learn quickly that it's not the best idea to only egg each other on. It doesn't always go well when you keep throwing each other's impulse control out the window every time something happens
You'll eventually perfect the art of taking turns reeling each other in. Though sometimes you play rock-paper-scissors for the chance to demolish an especially annoying person
Being with her takes "partner in crime" to a whole new level
It's a good thing you have both Nadia and Julian willing to smooth things over with their negotiating skills if you both blow up at the same time
She never drew a connection between you and the Devil - you were too busy dealing with her Aunt Tasya
You did one day confess it to her when it was really getting to you
She doesn't think it's any bigger of a deal than you say it is. As far as she's concerned, you are you, and that's who she loves
Lucio
Honestly, it's an ongoing struggle for him not to be jealous of you
You have the same tendencies he does. You have the same affiliation he does. You were even offered a deal without having to seek it out, and he knows for a fact that it was tempting
And yet, you chose to say no
At the same time, it's a whole lot easier to accept help from you because he knows it comes from someone who understands and chooses to love him anyways
He chooses to be inspired by you instead
And he adores your comfort level with combat. You want a fight? He is so down for a fight. Say the word and he'll drop everything for a match
Let's just say that it's a good thing you two are in the career path that you are in, because if you didn't both have the chance to let off steam for a good cause that often it would be a recipe for disaster
Some people get concerned because of how quick you two are to argue with each other, but it actually works pretty well because you both get where the other is coming from and are quick to forgive
