My favorite danmei novel: Little Mushroom

Little Mushroom is a science-fiction post apocalyptic novel. While sounding rather boring, the novel definitely surpasses my expectations because of reasons such as

The characters :

Each character is not flat, and they feel human. Everyone has their own reasons and circumstances for the paths they’ve chosen. Their experiences made them who they are, and it is what drives them. I especially like Lu Feng’s character. Also the author did a good job of portraying human characteristics on an ‘inhuman’ character (An Zhe), and how he gradually becomes more and more human throughout the novel.

The world building :

The world is explained really well. A destroyed world where humans could become monsters just because they made accidental contact. The writing also made me understand how horrible it is to live in a world without hope.

The themes of morality :

Hope and despair. Human extinction or salvation. The ongoing question of what is good or evil, or does it really matter? Is it okay to kill the minority for the majority? To make a vague judgement (judges killing those who “might’ve” turned) just to eliminate an uncertain possibility. Do we, as humans, really have to write to past judgement?

What would you do if you woke up and were a gnome in a littlemushroom village PMD style

im not sure what pmd is but i think if i was suddenly a gnome i’d be pretty okay with it. if my friends were gnomes also or if i still had contact w them that would be nice. i think i would be the town baker and make a living selling little tarts and cakes in a stump. and i would sleep in a matchbox i found on the side of the road i think a gnome style of living would really suit my needs. i think i would sell my treats for a coin or a cool button each per dessert but i would also be nice and give out free stuff to people too
