Dear Zel, i hope this letter finds you well,
I WANNA TALK TO YOU ABOUT A COUPLE LESBIANS IF THATS OK :333
Idk if you’ve read young justice 98 already but you haven’t posted anything about these two as far as im aware so…
LOOK AT THEM! They’re rival-ish friends to lovers(canon TO MEEEE) and dude they are sooooooooo TvT im so incoherent about them
Like there’s an issue of young justice covering a few short stories in forms of different characters’ dreams, each being sort of an au and guess what these sapphics dream about-
^GAY!!!! (Lmao i just realized its a dixon story.)
GAY!!!!
This room is also pretty gay if you ask me.
(There’s even more panels that can be interpreted as romantic attraction (having a crush on your best friend in high school and being in denial about your sexuality specifically) but i haven’t got them in my gallery for some reason.)
Yeah. Thanks for listening to my cissiecassie propaganda.
I ALWAYS WANT TO TALK ABOUT LESBIQNS THATS ALWAYS OKKKK
Oooo omggg this was actually very very functional propaganda!!! I am a raging sucker for lesbian ships and they look like absolute homosexuals 💜💜💜
You’re right, I don’t know much about them aside from some mutuals rbs (including yours!!!) But I’ve always looked at them and kinda gone ooo they look fun maybe one day I’ll read their stuff, but never really had the push I needed UNTIL NOWWW
Okioki so in terms of reading for them, is yj 98 the place to start??? I believe that they’re Wonder Girl and Arrowette, right??? So do they have solos or something im meant to read? (I am gonna start yj rn bc you sent this at the perfectttt time but if there are any others you know pleaseee tell me
(Lesbian fancy dress castle exploration is sooo wlw core I love ittttt omggg)(alsoooo rival friends to lovers????? I’m literally so hypedddd)
Thank youuu smmmmn for sending this wlw propaganda is the best sort of propaganda and i am always game for new wlw ships
(Screaming incoherently bc I loveeee this ask its made me really happy)
(ALSO I SWEAR YOU WERE RBING SOME OF MY BUT IM A CHEERLEADER STUFF LAST NIGHT IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THAT I AM SO GAME I LOVE THEMMM)

hello yuri timber enjoyers, here is regency era timber inspired by @littlegreekhero and my pride and prejudice obsession
possible au yappings under the cut
ok so we have bernadette dowd and timothy drake
bern is from an upper middle class family (father is a rather succesful merchant) and lives a rather simple life
tim is from an aristocrat family who after the passing of his mother moved to the town bern lives in so his father can start a new with his new wife without high societies eyes on him and their family
they meet and almost instantly become friends, tho its mostly due to bern’s pestering. they end up relating to each other (being different from everybody (read being gay)) and swap stories abt their lives
they slowly fall in love, though neither of them really realize until tim is to be betrothed to either male steph or kon (depends on if everybody gets gender bent or not lol)
anyways they both kinda have an “oh shit I love her but she’s gonna be outta reach if I don’t do something right now” moment and bern has the very sensible response of deciding to start cross dressing so she can become tim’s secret lover to prevent her getting married
the thing is neither of them is honest abt why they’re going on along w the honestly kinda stupid plan. bern says she doesn’t wanna see tim unhappily married and tim says she doesn’t wanna be married bc she’s not ready
oh yeah and the plan literally only works bc bern is basically a recluse since her parents are almost always away on business and she didn’t care for anybody in the town until tim came along so a haircut and binding did wonders for making her unrecognizable
#anyways i love regency era#I think its so interesting#and the fashion ahsgahsgsha#I wanna do sum actual studies of clothes b4 I do more for this au#timber#timbern#tim drake#bernard dowd#nicomoon69#regency au#timber yuri verse

Hi casscainmainly!!!!!! I was wondering which comic your pfp and header is from?? The artstyle is so pretty and i swear i saw it somehwere but cant remember the comic TvT
Hi littlegreekhero!!! My icon/header is actually a redraw (not by me but by someone I know who was nice enough to endure my Cass obsession), but the original panel is from Batman vs. Robin issue #5, drawn by Mahmud Asrar. I just love how Cass looks here, the art style is soo cool as you said. Up there with the Jamal Campbell Duke Thomas panel for one-off drawings I think about all the time.
Also little Steph is right next to her on the page :))).
#cassandra cain#ask#im surprised not more people have this as their cass icon but ive seen at least one other person#the cut off face is damian btw#the 'it is tim or damian' game gets harder the more recent a comic is tbh#anyway thanks for the ask!! and thanks for your art so far this week im eating it up its so good

9 people you'd like to get to know better
tagged by: @nightwvngss :))
three non romantic duos: Duke + Dick and Duke + Damian people will realise how good you are eventually!!! And obviously Babs + Cass, the best DC relationship of all time possibly?? Also kinda a fan of Azrael + Batwing (Luke Fox)
a ship that might surprise others: hmm people would know this if they scrolled my blog, but I'm a hardcore Tai'Darshan believer so Cass/Tai'darshan. Non-DC wise I kinda love AdoraBow from She-Ra (I still like Catradora!! I just love Bow okay)
last song: snuper's Platonic Love
last film: ........... Uglies
currently reading: catching up on Absolute Power and Tynion's Detective Comics! As for books, I just finished Otto Penzler's American Golden Age Locked Room Mysteries anthology (highly recommend), and am now reading Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five
currently watching: nothing, but just finished Mai: A Mother's Rage on Netflix
currently consuming: water
currently craving: food-wise - korean fried chicken, reading-wise - need to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, comics-wise - Batgirl 2000. I'm always craving BG 2000.
Some of these answers are uh something please don't judge me

10 people i'd like to get to know better tag game:
tagged by @franollie tysm for the tag
last song: red light heaven by Bess Atwell
favorite color: pink ml, unless it’s for hair dye in which case purple any day
last book: got bored last night and finally read the sequel to AGGGTM last night in 3 hours which mentally wiped me out, but I loved it
last movie: the half of it! I recommend (not all of it is good, but the first half of it is epic) I actually want to eat all of their relationships so bad it’s centred around two kids who never get together and focuses on their friendship, and also the 3rd girl that they’re both in love with!
last tv show: arcaneee I love love love it
sweet/savory/spicy: I love sweet but I can only have a little and then savoury all the way. Tragically not got the spice tolerance for comfortably having more spice than chilli heat wave Doritos
relationship status: situationship is low-key over so single and sad about it. I never want to make a move on a friend but I very rarely flirt with ppl I don’t know yet
last thing i searched: was Christina Rossetti a lesbian, I think? I believe she was at least somewhat queer still no matter what Google says
current obsession: women, always. Spent ages today explaining just how beautiful my friend is with another friend who hasn’t met her but knows what she looks like. I don’t even like the friend romantically whatsoever but like she is stupidly beautiful. Vibing with arcane rn and also the odyssey!!! Homer really cooked imo.
looking forward to: arcane finale also!!! Tdp s7! And also I get to go to a ball soon so fancy dresses!!!

Hi! Your post about Tim's approach to premaritial sex was so great and the fact that in the comics the subject was handled alongside an SA story was interesting as i was reading it. Which, reminded me of another SA story, during Lewis' run, Steph telling Tim what happened during her childhood results in such a different reaction from tim. He goes all "kill all men" and stuff TvT. I know you dont like Lewis and especially his fake feminism so id really like to know how you would assess these two instances side by side?
ahaha my reputation as a lewis hater precedes me! (for the record, i don't actually *hate* his run persay....it's fine enough, i just think he gets away with a lot of things he shouldn't by virtue of being not!dixon & i get deeply annoyed that he gets praised and a pass for things that women writers get lambasted for and so i tend to be very vocal with my criticism)
under cut for length
as for comparing dixon's sexual assault storyline versus lewis's hmmm. i do honestly think they're more similar than they let on, especially in regards to tim's reaction, it's just the motivations for writing them and conclusions are vastly different. because, if you take them side by side (robin #40 vs robin #111) in both, tim:
listens to his girlfriend tell her story without interruption & keeping respectful physical distance while she
doesn't judge her or place any fault on her, instead placing the fault on the guy in question & thinking something should be done about him, & importantly, doesn't try to minimize her pain or question if she misunderstood.
•ends things with an assurance of his love for the her
in both situations, he's willing to believe the victim wholly and blame the perpetrator. his overall reaction to her is actually fairly consistent & honestly pretty good for a teen boy--in many ways it's pretty close to how you'd probably want a teen boy to react in the situation of finding out his girlfriend got assualted.
now, i will note--both of these stories are flawed and do have the unfortunate reality about being more about proving what a good, understanding, noble boyfriend tim is than is it about the girl and her experience of being assaulted. that's truly another similarity they have. which is nagl ofc.
but that is what that is, unfortunately, and we just have to work with what we've got. the main difference in the conclusion--obviously dixon goes for the weird doorway no sex until marriage where you find your true love and have sex with them forever psa and lewis has tim complain about how men are the worst, which, frankly--in dixon tim is 14 and in lewis tim is almost 16 and a lot of kids can and will change drastically on their opinions in that sort of time frame so tim going from a kid who is understanding but moralizes in his limited worldview at 14 -> kid who is understanding and gets angry at the world's unfairness at 16 is a pretty understandable and fairly realistic growth, especially considering there are consistencies in the core of his response. but lewis's conclusion is overall less moralizing and more what people want to see, which is why he tends to get more of a pass than dixon for making the whole assault in question more about tim's response than the girl in question. which, egregiousness here is a ymmv thing--in many ways, especially after steph got introducted as the secondary protagonist of tim's robin series, ariana very much became a tertiary character, despite being tim's girlfriend--we never really see her personal life or day to day outside of dates with tim or hanging with friends they way we see steph's more independent personal life from the beginning (the issue that delves into ari's sexual assault and tim's reaction to it is peppered with steph also having an independent story of her own--compare that to steph's pregnancy arc which is focused on her and her decision to keep the baby and her conflict and resolution with her mom alongside the "tim is a supportive nice good boyfriend look at him and his noble reaction" plot). ariana is an underdeveloped, tertiary character who and as a tertiary character it unfortunately makes more sense for her character to be more wrapped up in tim (the protagonist's) development. is it unfair? yes! it is true that tertiary characters don't get to have quite the focus on their feelings and exist more instead to create conflict to showcase the protagonist? also yes. is it potentially less egregious to have lack of focus on a tertiary character in comparison to the protagonist's feelings vs an actual secondary protagonist (the way that the focus is on "look at what an understanding boyfriend tim is" instead of actually focusing on the co-star woman character's feelings about her assault). like. the answer is yes to me, which is only my opinion and someone else might think differently, but going back into my general usual complaints about lewis--this why i do tend to be a little more forgiving of dixon's writing (despite hating him as a person). dixon is at least overt. he makes no illusions about what he is or what he believes. he believes premarital sex is wrong. he tells you premarital sex is wrong. a spade is a spade.
and tbh. though he makes his views on the matter very clear, with this & the steph pregnancy arc--the one thing i will allow him is that these preachy storylines of teens dealing with Problems--drugs, sex, pregnancy with the lessons of don't have sex or do drugs--was, in fact, extremely par for the course of 90s teen media. it was responding to the culture of the era--and i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that tim, who was largely being written for teen boys at the time, was shown to try and be understanding about the situation and believe the victim, even with the accompaning preachiness.
and lewis. lewis presents his sexual assault story in 2003 in a different culture now--gone were the psas of the 90s, derided as cheesy and dumb and preachy. edginess was starting to be in now. and the culture of how society started to view the PSA nature of Teens Dealing With Problems and how women were treated in media with things happening to them was *also* starting to shift--also in comics in light of gail simone's women in refrigerators website. which. a lot has been said about what fridging means, but as i've spoken about before--the purpose of the website itself was gail asking a question: do women get assaulted, traumatized, maimed, murdered more than men do in comics and if this is a problem with a disparity--we should be trying to be better about it. and all she did was ask a lot of creators--both male and female--to get their thoughts on the matter and make changes that need to be changed.
and not everybody agreed! a lot of writers felt that there wasn't a problem that targeted women in particular--lots of male characters also got injured, maimed, assaulted as well, it was just the nature of conflict for these stories. a good portion argued that it was just par for the narrative in a medium like comics--jason todd's death was a huge reason given by a lot of writers as to why it wasn't abnormal or inherently bad for bad things to happen to women characters. but the conversation was certainly happening in comics and comics fandoms (in fact--and i say this as someone who emphatically believes barbara should do back to being oracle because hers was a story that did reclaim her disability in an amazing way and give her back her agency--this is probably the start of the fandom arguments that were occuring in the mid-2000s re babs--was it really fair that she, a female character, had to live with the mark of being abused and shot by the joker forever when male characters get to return to status quo all the time.) why does the woman character have to live with the mark of her sexual and physical trauma forever when bruce wayne gets to get magicured after bane breaks his back? i don't agree with the arguments, but these were the fights that were happening around women and their trauma at the time. in fact, why was women's trauma always about terrible things happening to her. this is the culture that lewis would have been writing when he decided that he would write a story where a bad man tries to assauly stephanie as a kid. and honestly. lewis seems to fall in the camp that there's no issue with giving women sexual trauma as conflict. don't try to tell him that men shouldn't get to write women being assaulted. because let's look at the framing for steph coming clean about her trauma--she decides to confide in tim about it after she sees a certain entertainment news segment at the diner-
now, i'm gonna explain the reference here. the show on is probably a reference to entertainment tonight or e! news. the show feliciatown starring kelli russet is a direct reference to felicity starring keri russell (a show created by jj abrams and matt reeves). now i can't speak 100% to whether this is in reference to something that actually ever happened (whether they had to do a rewrite for a controversial sexual assault line, all i know is it apparently got cancelled because ratings tanked bc she cut her hair) as i didn't watch felicity, but lewis has steph get mad over the fact they would dare to rewrite a show just to remove a female character's trauma! giving female characters rape trauma doesn't just reduce them to victims! look at steph! lewis is gonna give her sexual assault trauma and then make it more about tim's response than her just to prove you wrong! wait, what-
....which. considering the cultural conversations of the time, to me, seems to show that lewis is kind of on the pro-"men need to be able to give women sexual trauma for conflict it's good, juicy writing" side. which. this is my problem with him istg he can't keep getting away with this. at least dixon is frank in his biases. lewis dresses it up, but it's still shit. he proves that....steph is more than just a victim? by giving her unnecessary victimhood? and wrapping in nicely in a bow of tim being a good boyfriend who totally thinks rapists should be beat up? like yea, his conclusion is far more likable than dixon's but what was he really trying to achieve there. steph's story of assault wasn't about her being more than just a victim of assault. it was creating her as a victim of assault to kind of have a small little bitchfit about how men can't write about anything anymore, they just wanna tell good stories and people are so sensitive about not wanting bad things to happen to women in writing. don't you know assault is a great way to create conflict for women. it's so authentic and realistic. fuck all the way off with that. at least dixon's SA storyline is exactly what is appears to be on the surface: a PSA to avoid premarital sex. lewis just hides his shit under a veneer of pretending he treats women any better.
so anyways. in conclusion. side by side, tim's overall response to both situations is fairly consistent and makes coherent and realistic sense as far as how he goes from premarital sex is bad at 14 conclusion to wow what a jackass men are the worst at 16 conclusion, while still keeping the overall understanding and immediate belief in his girlfriend's story, which is actually a pretty good and supportive way for a teen boy to respond to his girlfriend confiding in him about abuse and assault and there's no reason to think that even if the stories were about the girls, as they should have been, his response wouldn't have been anything different and far as his belief and support of the victims. is steph's story of assault by lewis better than dixon's story of assault for ari? lol no. they both suck deeply. they both are sexist. like, of course, i do like tim's response better in lewis, but lewis's reasons for the story even exising are just as awful as dixon's moralizing.
