This was your second time performing at the O2 Arena in London. The first time was on your second tour and you were sure you’d never felt nerves like it. But the show had gone wonderfully. It was two hours of pure serotonin. Having fans scream lyrics you’d written back to you was one of the most exhilarating feelings you’d ever felt coursing through your veins. And after your first show at the O2, you assumed the second would be a walk in the park. Your nerves for the show had died down immensely. That was until your darling boyfriend, Harry, informed you that his mum and sister had purchased tickets. Now you were even more nervous than you had been for the first show. 

You and Harry first met in 2018 at the BRITs. He’d won the British Video award, whilst you had snagged the British Album award for your second album. Mutual congratulations were exchanged after your managers introduced the two of you. It was only at the end of 2018, after your world tour had finished, that you became something more than friends. And when your fans began to notice lyrical parallels in both yours and his songs towards the end of 2019 when Fine Line was released, they were sure the two of you were dating after seeing so many paparazzi pictures of you on dinner dates and hanging out in the streets. What really pushed it over the line though, was when they connected a sweater you were wearing in a picture you’d taken with a fan to a picture of Harry in 2016, coming to the conclusion that you were wearing his sweater. And, finally, when you were listed in the writing credits of She and Falling, they were sure the two of you were an item. Neither of you had necessarily confirmed it, but you hadn’t made the effort to deny it. 

With the added pressure of Harry’s family seeing you perform live for the first time, it was also the first show of your entire tour. You’d start in London and finish in Tokyo. Your third album had been well received, the fans adored it. And, as soon as the promo and press stuff was out the way, you were on the road again. Which brought you here, sat backstage at the O2, waiting for your cue to go on stage. Your show had sold out, meaning 20,000 people were watching you perform. When you heard your name being called, you got up to head onto the stage. 

The screams of your name lit something up inside of you, a large smile working its way into your features. Your bassist, Delilah, smirked at you. You loved your band, they were your best friends. “Good evening, London,” you grinned, standing in front of the microphone in the centre of the stage. “How are we all feeling tonight?”

You were met with screams from your fans. You smiled, something they never failed to make you do. You introduced your first song as your band began the intro to the song. As you were singing, stopping occasionally to let your fans sing the lyrics without you, you couldn’t help but skim across the sea of screaming people in an attempt to spot Harry and his family. And finally, as the first song came to close, your eyes landed on Harry, Anne and Gemma in the crowd. Harry was busy talking to a fan who was sat beside him. Gemma cheered loudly as you made eye contact with her, forcing an amused grin onto your face.  

As the evening progressed, you couldn’t help but get lost in the electric atmosphere. Joking around on stage with your band and interacting with the audience was one of the many lights of your life. You were eternally grateful that you’d made it; you were doing what you adored as a career. “Now, before we wrap it up, I have one final song to perform. It’s a song I wrote in 2018 after I met someone very special. So, if you know the words, sing along. This is February,” you said, beginning to pluck the strings on your guitar. 

The crowd screamed so loudly, perhaps the loudest of the evening. This was definitely a fan favourite. It was common knowledge that this song was about Harry, having met him in February of 2018. Amongst themselves on Twitter, had made a rule to stay silent during the chorus of the song, isolating your voice across the arena. Something about Y/N and only Y/N singing to Harry. It was sweet really and you loved how much your fans banded together on social media to pull off little things like that. And as soon as they figured out that Harry was attending your show, they were all the more determined to make it happen. And, as you began the chorus, the arena went deathly silent. Your amplified voice rang across it and you couldn’t help but look to Harry as you sang. Like you were singing to him. 

The rest of the world, it felt, just slowly drained away and all that mattered to you was Harry. He stared back, his eyes full of what could only be described as such immense pride. It was only when the song finished you were pulled back down to the present. “Thank you to every single one of you for being so perfect tonight! I love you all so much!” you yelled, blowing kisses to the cheering crowd.

You took a bow, your band following suit. The lights faded and you vanished into the blackness, the fans still screaming. Even when you left the stage, still sweaty from some of the livelier songs, the buzz did leave your body. It took about five minutes for Harry to meet you backstage. “You were so incredible,” he whispered, kissing your forehead as he wrapped you in his arms. 

You grinned up at him, your eyes full of admiration for the taller man. Shortly afterwards, Gemma and Anne emerged. This only left you to be swept up into another hug by the two women, who had become somewhat of a second family to you. “Is tomorrow’s show sold out?” Anne asked. 

You nodded. Your next show was also at the 02. Your tour management team added an extra day due to the tickets selling out so quickly. “That’s a shame. I want to see you do it all over again!” she grinned. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“Oh, thanks, Mum,” Harry said, though he couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips. 

“You ought to take some notes from Y/N,” Gemma added, smirking. 

“Wow,” he laughed. “All my life I’ve known you… betrayal hurts, guys. I’m human too, you know?”

The three of you laughed at his pout. It slowly moulded into a smile, “You were amazing though, love.”

You smiled gratefully at them, “And you weren’t underwhelmed or anything?”

That was your main worry. Harry had been talking about how brilliant your shows were, so Anne had told you. The night before the show, when she’d been round at yours and Harry’s flat for dinner, she was explaining how excited she was to see you live after all of the footage she’d seen of you performing. And you’d been worried for the 24 hours that followed that conversation that she had her hopes up too high for your show. “Underwhelmed? Of course not! You were wonderful, Y/N,” Anne assured you, squeezing your arm. 

“You were so golden on stage,” Gemma grinned, glancing between you and her brother.

He rolled his eyes at her, “Okay, well now you’re just stealing my lyrics.”

December 19, 2019.

Harry had a concert in London tonight. It has been almost a week after his second album dropped, and he's been spending a lot of time doing promo for it.

Fortunately, both Artemis and Y/N were on their winter breaks and were able to join him. But as much as they loved traveling, it was good to be home again.

Tomorrow Artemis would celebrate his sixth birthday. A pretty fucking big deal if you asked Harry. This would be the first birthday he'd spend with his boy as his official daddy, and he wanted to make it as special as possible.

So he ordered the biggest cake he could find, asking the shop to make the cake in a shape of a robot.

Perhaps he was being a little bold, but lately he felt the need to shout it to the rooftops, he had a son, he was in love, he had a family of his own and wanted to show them off.

He told Y/N his plan to get her and Artemis onstage so everyone could sing happy birthday to their boy, and although she had her doubts, she couldn't overlook the way Harry's eyes lit up, his voice giving away how excited he was for it.

So she agreed.

Artemis isn't very acquainted with the whole concert world. The only concerts he's ever gone to are Harry's (oh, and to a Little Mix one because he's the biggest stan out there).

Gemma, Y/N, Artemis and Anne would be watching Harry from the side of the stage, he did not tell her when the staff would bring the cake onstage, claiming it would be a surprise.

Before he went onstage, he lifted Artemis and planted an obnoxious kiss on his cheek and off he went to entertain all the fans that came to see him.

The first few songs went smoothly. He'd occasionally would see from the corner of his eye how his mum would hold Artemis hand, swaying back and forth along with the music.

Halfway through the concert Harry stopped to talk for a moment. "So... tomorrow is a special day for me. you'll see, my boy turns six years old tomorrow" the crowd went wild, a mix between screams and 'aws'. "And i thought you could help me wish him a happy early birthday, what do you think?!" again, the room filled with screams, everyone letting out a collectively 'yes'

He turned his face to where his loves were standing and motioned for them to come onstage with him. Artemis looked up at Y/N with his eyes wide open, but she only smiled at him, nodding to make him know it was okay.

The three women let Artemis run towards Harry first, who as soon as he saw him run, kneeled down to receive him with his arms open.

The fans awed when Artemis much smaller body crashed into Harry's. He proceeded to lift him, balancing his microphone in one hand and his boy in the other. "Say hi, baby"

Artemis hesitated but still leaned towards the microphone. "Hi" as soon as his tiny voice filled the room, he hid his face in the crock of Harry's neck.

He then motioned again to his mum, sister and girlfriend to come as well. They walked on stage and, if it was even possible, the screams grew louder.

A crew member walked in strolling the cake on a little trolley. The mic caught Artemis little 'wow' and the fans laughed.

"Are you ready?" Harry asked the crowd. The band started to play the happy birthday song and everybody started singing.

When the song ended, Harry leaned his body over the cake so Artemis could blow the candles. The fans, the band and his family started clapping.

"So... this next song... is actually this lad's favorite from the album" He pointed at the boy in his arms. "What do you say all these lovely people here join us for it?" He asked, referring to the three woman on his left.

After a wave of sounds of approval came, he smiled. "This is adore you"

Harry placed his son on his feet but grabbed his hand right after. Y/N, Anne and Gemma were dancing on their places, singing the lyrics at the top of their lungs.

Surprisingly, Artemis was dancing too. Harry's presence has always given him confidence on himself, and he imagined as it was only his daddy and him dancing in the kitchen to his songs.

When the guitar solo reached, Harry crunched down to Artemis' level and started dancing with him. Artemis would try to copy Harry's hands and head movements, making everyone go wild because not only they were wearing matching suits, but they looked exactly the same while dancing.

Harry leaned his microphone towards his boy and he sang the little 'walk through fire for you, just let me adore you' before shying away.

After he sang the last lyrics, he pressed a kiss on Artemis' cheek.

As if the fans haven't received enough content yet, the microphone caught one last thing from Artemis...

The relationship between A-list muse and lauded designer is nothing new. But few have been as serendipitous that of Harry Styles and Alessandro Michele: the pop star’s solo career coincided neatly with the designer hitting his stride as the game-changing creative director of Gucci. Theirs is a mutually beneficial partnership that has elevated the former to new echelons of style, while the latter has become something of an icon to an unexpected fandom.

Unlike the large-scale productions of recent show seasons, Michele first presented his vision for Gucci with a quietly confident collection on 19 January 2015 — reportedly pulled together in just five turbo-charged days. The collection had all the signifiers of the retro-inspired aesthetic that has since become Michele’s beat, introducing the fur-lined loafers, pussy-bow blouses and florals that still form the backbone of his work today. A 20-year-old Harry, meanwhile, was still a long-haired One Direction member set to embark on the band’s biggest ever — and as it turned out last— tour. Just as One Direction’s days were winding down, Michele was picking up speed. Gucci reported a five per cent rise in sales in the last three months of 2015, amounting to 1.1 billion Euro in the final quarter.

Stylist Harry Lambert, who had been working with Harry for a few years by then, decided it was time for the boy-bander to try something new. A floral suit – that floral suit – from Michele’s spring/summer 2016 collection would be just the ’fit for the American Music Awards in November 2015, they decided.

Looking back it was a “very bold move,” Lambert admits. Styles was the first to take one of Michele’s full menswear looks from the Gucci catwalk and wear it on the red carpet. “It was very exciting to see everyone’s responses, but also how great he looked in it,’’ Lambert told Miss Vogueof what he still views as a turning point in his client’s fashion journey. This winning suit encouraged Styles and Lambert to pull more Gucci, and Harry gave his final performance as a member of One Direction wearing a suit in the retro petal print that defined Michele’s early collections.

In fact, Gucci was just about the only thing that the 1D alum carried over to his solo career. Even his shoulder-length curls were shorn. The music videos that accompanied Styles’s eponymous number one album, released in April 2017, all incorporated Gucci, as did his appearances on the promo trail. A navy tailored coat floats through the sky in the video for “Sign Of The Times”, and he wears floral tailoring in the clip for “Kiwi”. When the time came for Harry to take his record on the road, he wore countless bespoke Gucci suits on stage. Most were floral brocade with flared trousers, and paired with pussy-bow shirting.

By June 2018, the relationship had been formalised. Styles was revealed – in a series of photos taken by Glen Luchford in the suitably English setting of a chip shop – as the face of Gucci’s tailoring campaign. Two more campaigns followed, in which Styles models the most exuberant of Michele’s creations without ever sacrificing his schoolboy cheekiness, not even with a lamb slung around his shoulders. The campaigns, two by Luchford, a third by Harmony Karine, helped to usher in a new dawn in menswear advertising.

A year later Harry was unveiled as part of a diverse line-up in the campaign for Gucci’s Mèmoire D’une Odeur — the near century-old house’s first gender-neutral scent. Yes, he was the main event, but Styles shared the spotlight with other creatives in what became an unavoidable campaign, covering buildings, beauty counters, column inches and iPhone wallpapers across the globe. Styles has since quipped that he wears it to bed,making a bottle a necessary purchase for even half-dedicated Harry fans.

That Harry’s work with Gucci has proved so popular with his dedicated fanbase is a key component in the success of their collaborations. Though — and again, this is likely owing to Harry’s own allegiances — his followers do tend to have a keen interest in fashion compared to other fandoms, it’s down to their idol that Harries know the artistic director by his first name alone. “It is really exciting for us fans to see another facet of Harry as a creative individual, and his Gucci partnership cultivates that and gives us an even more in-depth perspective of who he is,” Nadhila, a 26-year-old fan in Indonesia told Miss Vogue.

Nadhila, who has been a part of the team behind the Twitter account @HSNewsUpdate since 2011, believes that the fluid nature of Michele’s vision has contributed to the interest in Harry’s Gucci looks. “There are no boundaries on what he might come up with, so fans are always excited to see what look [Harry] might step out in next,” she says. Styles’s efforts to be a fan-focused, ethical pop star – his motto is “treat people with kindness” – are relevant, too. “He has inspired us to be bold, unique and unafraid to experiment when it comes to fashion,” she adds. “He has shown us that there is no such thing as too feminine or too masculine, we can be both and we can be ourselves.”

Another of Harry’s biggest fan accounts, @TheHarryNews, is run by four women in their mid-twenties: Annie, Océane, Lena and Rachel. “You can really see the confidence he’s gotten from working with Gucci,” they share collectively over email. “[He’s] taking more risks and letting more of himself show… In a lot of ways we’ve seen Harry really come into his own. I think that really resonates with people, especially his fans, who get tiny pieces of [who he really is] through fashion.”

Two fans who have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of this fashion partnership are the transatlantic duo behind @HSFashionArchive. Since April 2016, London-based Lu and Washington DC-based Alex have documented every look worn by Harry in meticulous detail, all to act as “a resource for fans”. Its posts lets his followers know how they might go about procuring these items, but also sheds light on key house codes – thus enabling fans to quickly identify which of Harry’s looks are Gucci, and which aren’t. “We have noticed that fans buy the Gucci pieces that Harry has worn,” 29-year-old Alex explained. “Though some pieces are pricey, we’ve seen people buy the loafers, boots, and bags that Harry has sported over the years. Lots of our followers bought the £34 Gucci lipsticks he wore in Beauty Papers.”

The pair believes that the relationship works because Gucci is able to offer Harry such a broad spectrum of looks to choose from. “Gucci’s looks range from wearable to outrageous, so Harry’s continued partnership with Gucci guarantees both attainable style and flashy moments. There’s nothing like seeing him in a wild new outfit that we couldn’t have anticipated.” And though one might assume the scene-stealing suits are most popular with fans, according to Nadhila, they like his low-key looks best, given that “they show a more casual and intimate look into who he is as a ‘normal’ person”.

Of course, there is a notable exception: the 2019 Met Gala. For the opening evening of the “Camp: Notes On Fashion” exhibition Michele and Harry acted as co-hosts, and arrived on the pink carpet together. “After such a colourful tour wardrobe it was nice to do something a little unexpected,” Lambert told Miss Vogue of the black blouse Styles wore. “[It was about] taking traditionally feminine elements like the frills, heeled boots, sheer fabric and the pearl earring, but then rephrasing them as masculine pieces set against the high-waisted tailored trousers and his tattoos. Camp, but still Harry.” Lambert explained at the time: “We met up earlier this year to share mood boards with the Gucci team. We had pages of printed references all on the table from Alessandro, myself and Harry, then we edited them down.” Today, the @HSFashionArchive duo agree the night “was a massive deal amongst fans”.

There was the now pearl earring-wearing fashion darling of the music world, standing alongside the closest thing to a rockstar the fashion industry has at present. “I love dressing up and he loves dressing up,” Michele told The Face in 2019. “The moment I met him, I immediately understood there was something strong around him. I realised he was much more than a young singer. He was a young man, dressed in a thoughtful way, with uncombed hair and a beautiful voice. I thought he gathered within himself the feminine and the masculine.”

Since the Met, the relationship has continued to go from strength to strength. Styles wore a custom look on the cover of his second record, Fine Line, shot by Tim Walker, and Michele and Styles collaborated on a T-shirt to coincide with it, with a percentage of the sales going to the Global Fund For Women. Gucci’s high-waisted trousers, cropped blazers and dazzling shirting now takes up even more space in Styles’s wardrobe, and bring as much attention to the star as his sophomore record’s commercial and critical success.

Sightings of Styles in Gucci have become a source of comfort for fans in a turbulent 2020. From his Mary-Janes at the Brits to his oversized turquoise blazer and crochet gloves in the “Golden” video, by way of outré sunglasses and floral sunglasses in the clip for “Watermelon Sugar”, Harry’s recent sartorial choices have managed to be pleasingly familiar, while simultaneously keeping his followers on their toes.

A bit like the chicken and the egg conundrum, the question remains: is Harry very Gucci, or is Gucci very Harry? The verdict is out. But without each other, both might be missing a little something.

DNA dir. Maïwenn

French actress/director/writer Maïwenn steps in front of and behind the camera once more with the semi-autobiographical DNA in which a woman from an abusive family reluctantly reunites with her toxic family members after her beloved grandfather dies.  Maïwenn has a stellar reputation among the French critical elite but it would be nice if one of her films could break out beyond that. Here’s hoping DNA is that film.  

Emma dir. Autumn de Wilde

Yes, I am a Janite, thank you for asking. Jane Austen has long been reverred, adored, propped up and consumed: mainly by women. So it makes sense that finally after a bajillion adaptations we’re getting one directed by a woman. Can’t wait to see how photographer turned director de Wilde interprets the classic tale and how it will measure up against other adaptations including Amy Hecklering’s genre bending modern adaptation of the tale, Clueless.

The Glorias dir. Julie Taymor

I don’t always love Taymor’s films but I am a huge admirer of all of them; it’s so clear watching each one that she’s a genius with incredible vision. The Glorias has her turn her remarkable eye on the life of American feminist Gloria Steinem played across several generations by several actresses including Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore. Can’t wait.

The Half of It dir. Alice Wu

It’s been sixteen (!) years since Wu’s debut feature film, the lovely lesbian rom com Saving Face. Wu was a software designer before coming out of nowhere to direct Saving Face, and then disappearing just as abruptly. I was thrilled when Netflix announced that her latest film would be a loose adaptation of the play  Cyrano de Bergerac and would focus on a nerdy teenage girl who helps the school jock woo the girl they both have a crush on.  

Happiest Season dir. Clea Duvall

Actress turned director Duvall makes her transition to mainstream studio work with a romcom about a woman who plans to propose to her girlfriend at her girlfriend’s family’s annual Christmas party only to discover that her partner isn’t out to her parents. Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis play the conflicted couple. 

Kajillonaire dir. Miranda July

It’s been nine years since the release of July’s last film which is sort of crazy given how consistently well reviewed and critically loved her films are. Kajillionaire has been in the works for a few years and stars Evan Rachel Wood as a young woman from a crime family who (falls in love? Unclear from the vague plot description) is shown another way of life by a woman who unwittingly is tangled up in her family’s latest schemes.    

Marry Me dir. Kat Coiro

Coiro burst onto the scene nearly a decade ago with a trio of easily consumable indies and then got swallowed up by TV. It’s nice to see her back and directing her first feature film in 7 (!) years. An adaptation of a graphic novel of the same name Marry Me is a romcom about a star who is jilted at the alter by her celeb boyfriend and then, to cover her humiliation, abruptly marries a random fan she picks from the crowd. Not only does the concept sound like the tooth achingly sweet premise needed to kick off a decent romcom but Jlo herself plays the star. Bring on the Jlo-naissance!

Mr. Malcom’s List dir. Emma Holly Jones

In 2019 Refinery 29 released the short film Mr. Malcolm’s List, a period piece romcom about a wealthy gentleman with ridiculous standards for what he wants in a wife and the woman who schemes to win his affections. The twist? This neo regency tale went full colour blind and cast poc (including Gemma Chan) in the lead roles. The short was so successful that it was announced that a full feature film would be developed with Jones and Chan returning.

Never Rarely Sometimes Always dir. Eliza Hittman

I remember Hittman talking about this film during the promo tour for Beach Rats, back when it was going under the title A. The film is about two teenage girls, one of whom is pregnant, and a day trip they take to NYC to experience the magic of the city and to access abortion services they can’t in their homestate. Hitman is a delicate and thoughtful director and this film promises to hit all the subjects I’m interested in including the power of female friendship and the importance of abortion rights.

Nomadland dir. Chloé Zhao

One of two films Zhao is releasing in 2020 (she’s also directing a little film for Marvel, maybe you’ve heard of it, called The Eternals). Nomadland cleaves closer to Zhao’s indie roots and stars Frances McDormand as a woman made homeless by the Great Recession who lives out of her van. As someone who was scared that Zhao’s work with Marvel would flatten out the lush and beautiful cinematic style she developed in her previous work I’m so glad that in 2020 their will be at least one Zhao indie that promises to stay true to her early vision.

Not to be rude or anything but do people not realize how promotion for movies works? Because the LW 2019 was pretty standard especially for a oscar bait movie? When you are promoting something you go with the narrative that best suits the project. For example on the promo tour for MQOS 2018, Saoirse and Margot said a lot of stuff that wasn't really true but it fit in with the #girlpower spin that the movie tried to take and was promoted like that. At the end of the day most of these people just repeat stuff they were told by their publicists who in turn were told what to say by the studio and their marketing department.

That's just it--I don't think a lot of people do get how movie promos work. Think of the Marvel promos and everyone gushing about how tight the cast seems, etc. I'm not saying that there's zero authenticity to these things; it's kind of like a PR relationship. People could be totally legit friends having a great time on a PR tour, but they also are selling a narrative. With Little Women, the narrative was that at last we were getting Little Women from a female director (and like... that does matter. Yes there had been Little Women adaptations written by women before, but this was written and directed by a woman, versus handing off a woman-written script to a male director), with an Avengers movie the narrative is that this is a huge movie made by people who are all pals, just like~ the real~ Avengers!

And the bigger the movie, the more the narrative is drilled in. While I'd hardly call Little Women a GIANT movie, it did good numbers for an adaptation that could have scared a lot of people off by virtue of being an adaptation. Which will hopefully open the doors for more adaptations.

I think the big thing to remember is that very few things in interviews are... not at least somewhat staged.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

Running through the crowded backstage area of the arena in a town that I cannot recall is somewhat normal in this business. Time often pasts by so far when RAW/Smackdown/a PPV starts backstage. All the moving parts moving together to make the thing that the people want.

Right now, my part in the complex puzzle called WWE main roster is late to get to Gorilla for my tag team match with Becky to promote HIAC. 

Getting dressed in my normal glam-punk ring gear and leather jacket (with my logo) painted in a messy orange paint on the back) is becoming my new normal since Jon left the company back in April. 

Jon, why did you leave me here, I asked myself as I dash past fellow Superstars to get to Gorilla.

Made it to Gorilla without a rant from Vince and the other road agents, sliding next to Becky waiting for our cues to go out to the ring.

“Another RAW, another tag match with the two of us. You ready, Beck,” I asked as I adjust the red-lensed sunglasses to my face from the top of my head.

“The Man and Queen of Hardcore. Are you sure that you did not want to face me at HIAC instead? I know that you wanted to get back in the title picture..”

“You and Seth deserve your titles. I have no idea what Vince and Creative have for me. It seems like after Jon left that Roman and I are stuck in limbo for a title picture.” Becky gives me a concerned look. We trained together in NXT when I was about to leave for the main roster and she was about to debut for NXT. Next to my SHIELD brothers and Renee, she became my closest friend in WWE. She gave me a quick hug.

“You are one of the best wrestlers that I ever worked with..” Her entrance music cuts her off. She mouths to me “we will talk about this later” before she walks out to the ring. 

“Next, their opponents. First, from Dublin, Ireland, she is your RAW Women’s Champion. The Man, Becky Lynch!!!”

I take a quick breath and then my music plays. {play Mz. Hyde by Halestorm}

“And her tag team partner from Seattle, Washington. The Queen of Hardcore. Stefanie Rox!!!”

The crowd was being themselves. Our opponents being Natalya (who apparently is a heel) and Lacey Evans. 

“The Internet Wrestling Community is going to be having a fit for this match,” I thought as I get into position to start this match with Natalya. She gets me into a headlock and I counter her with a leg scissors takedown. As the match goes back in and forth, the crowd chants for Becky. So I dragged Natalya to the corner and tagged in Becky. Often times, our double team moves are usually a double assisted suplex with a double elbow drop from the both of us. Today, it is finally time to use that “being the only high flyer in the SHIELD” to good use. I lift up Becky for an elbow drop so in return she can give me a boost for a moonsault of my own to Natalya. 

The crowd goes insane. Becky goes for the pin on Natalya. After a while, the match goes to its somewhat natural conclusion, Becky goes for the Disarm-her in which Lacey taps out immediately.

“The winners of the match: The partnership of the Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, and Stefanie Rox!!”

As we head into gorilla from the stage, I see my SHIELD brother, Seth ready to go out for his promo against the Fiend for their match at HIAC.

“Good match, guys! I am so glad to see my favorite women in my life kicking ass in that ring.” Becky gave Seth a quick smooch before she gave her quick thanks. I smiled at the newly engaged couple with a new sense of happiness.

“How have you been, Stef?” He gives a kind smile and brotherly kiss to my head like he always does.

“Not bad. I’m glad to see that championship on one of my brothers.” I gave him a hug that reminded me of the good old times. His music hits before he could have a chance to respond.

Seth and mine’s relationship over the years is complex to say more than one. I came into FCW as a bright-eyed 21-year-old who made her name across the West Coast indies and in CZW (in which is how I met Jon). When the idea for Jon, Roman, and Seth to become the SHIELD came to be, Jon convinced Vince to have me join and help me pose a credible threat to AJ Lee’s Divas Championship reign. Even after Seth’s betrayal on the SHIELD, we were also so close. I cried when all three of them won the WWE Championship. They supported me when I became third-ever RAW women’s champion. 

In 2017 on the tour through Japan, I met Kenny. We clicked right away. It felt like we were the Romeo and Juliet of the wrestling world. The Cleaner and the Female Hound of Justice having this torrid love affair. Two of the best wrestlers on the planet dating each other made a lot of people uncomfortable backstage. Seth was one of the few people in the business who was not really accepting of our relationship. Both me and Kenny agreed that we should keep our relationship private outside of a few people that knows us best.

Within a giant main roster, we became a family with me becoming the younger little sister. Even though, me and Jon’s relationship became the “true little brother-sister” relationship based on our experiences on the indies. It all changed in late December when Jon told me and Renee during the Christmas Break that he was not renewing his contract. I was shocked and surprised when he told me. He explained he told Renee before me.

“ Are you sure about this, Jon?” Tears start coming to my eyes.

“Yes, I made up my mind about this since I went out on RAW in the backstage segment when I had to get shots in my ass.”

“I know that it sucked but you can move past it.”

“I cannot move past this anymore. I need to get out and try something new. Roman is out. Seth is being positioned as “the guy” now. You are the same position that Becky was a year ago, Stef.” 

“What are you going to do when your contract expires then?”

“Maybe start crossing off the bucket list items for my career. Maybe work in Japan. Maybe have a match for your boyfriend.”

“Kenny would love that. He keeps telling me that in the new year everything is going to change for the better.”

The big thing that Kenny mentioned was All Elite Wrestling. A new promotion that gave WWE a run for its money. No BS, just good pro wrestling. I was so proud of him when I found out the news from him. I was in Japan with the Elite for the New Year as a way to get away from the stresses of being a WWE superstar and the stress that came with hearing about Jon leaving WWE. The minute came backstage for the first RAW of the new year, everyone was talking about AEW and people asking for their releases. Some had gotten them, some didn’t. The backstage environment became tense towards the loyalists of the company and everyone else. I had a six-month extension added to my contract from when I used my injury leave to spend time with Kenny during his G1 run.

As Seth cuts his promo on “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, the lights in the arena cut out. Even though, I have been watching these segments for the past month backstage. I still react like I have seen the Fiend for the first time. He destroyed Finn at Summerslam. Now, Seth is going to be the second in-ring opponent of the Fiend on PPV. If Seth wins, he would get booed out arenas like Roman did for years. If Wyatt wins, the Universal title will be on him until Wrestlemania. When I heard about the feud, I started becoming more and more concerned about Seth and his well-being. 

I knew that Seth had the company on his shoulders since winning at Mania against Brock but it became more apparent when Jon made his debut at Double or Nothing by attacking Jericho and Kenny. I was already backstage in support of my boyfriend not knowing that Jon would be there. Kenny and I were both excited about the potential feud against Jon. I even supported my friend when he did the G1 (and recommended shops he should check out for the wrestling nerd in him). In the meanwhile, Seth became the company man-criticizing AEW, Jon, and Kenny Omega when given the chance. I’m so glad that he did not expose our relationship...yet.

As I watch the segment with terror and horror, a strange thought came to mind. The same thought that I had when Seth had the guts to hit me and my brothers with a steel chair over five years ago. Hungry dogs are never loyal.

Emma Watson skips entirety of ‘Little Women’ press tour

Pagesix 18 Dec 2019: Emma Watson refused to join the promo tour for “Little Women,” Page Six can reveal.

Watson’s been MIA, and we’ve been told that her reps informed Sony Pictures she would join co-stars Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet and her royal highness Meryl Streep only at the premiere at MoMA on Dec. 7.

While the rest of the cast has been hitting the promo circuit hard, with late-night appearances, morning-show spots and touring the globe, a movie source revealed: “Emma’s reps told Sony that she would only do the premiere. We don’t really know what happened, if she wasn’t happy with the movie or fell out with the cast.

”However, a source insisted that Watson was thrilled with the film, pointing out that she had flooded her Instagram account — she has 52.9 million followers, more than anyone else in the cast — with photos of the movie, and said she’s also not a lead character. (She plays Meg — 1 of the 4 little women.) Having such a massive social-media footprint means that she could easily skip the tour and have equal impact, the insider pointed out.

Reps for Watson declined to comment, and Sony didn’t respond.

So yeah, she just doesn’t want to promote the movie alongside her co-stars. ‘Why’ is of course still up for debate, but I still think it’s because she wasn’t willing to share the spotlight. And, as has been pointed out above, she isn’t the lead, so focus would definitely not be on her.

If it isn’t the whole “I’m not going to be the center of attention” thing, then she probably would’ve shown up for a Q&A at least. Not being a lead character isn’t a good excuse to skip the entire promo tour.

WWE Raw - March 18, 2019: Highlights and Review

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman open the show This week WWE Raw got opened with a promoas usual. What wasn't usual though, was that Brock Lesnar made an appearance on Raw after god knows how long. He got booed by the Chicago crowd as he made his way down the ring. Heyman starts the promo with his usual schtick introducing Brock Lesnar to us. He challenged the statements made by Rollins the previous week. He said Brock Lesnar defeated all the man that Rollins said he had a hard time with. In the end, he was the victor against Styles, Bryan and Balor. He hyped the main event of the show saying that what was Rollins thinking challenging a career killer like Drew McIntyre for a match days before his match with Brock Lesnar. This brings out McIntyre who is happy that he is finally getting the respect that he deserves. McIntyre suggests to Heyman that he must find another opponent for Brock because after McIntyre is done brutalizing Rollins, he won't make it to WrestleMania. Seth Rollins comes from behind and hit McIntyre with chair shots on the back. He looks at Brock and heads towards the ring with the chair in his hands. Lesnar just jumps out and leaves. This was a fine segment. It is always nice to see both the competitors hyping up their match instead of the same promo by only one of them. Also did a decent job to hype the audience for the main event of the show. Rating: 3.5/5 Finn Balor is out next. He will be in a tag team match with a mystery partner against Lashley and Rush. Blair grabs a mic and said that he wasn't a lucky Irish last week when he lost his Intercontinental championship match to Bobby Lashley. He said he wouldn't be a former champion for too long though. Lashley and Rush interrupt. Lashley poses with the title. Balor said he will get his hands on the title very soon. And his partner will get his hands on both them. Brain Strowman us revealed as Balor's tag team partner Finn Balor and Braun Strowman vs Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush Lashley and Rush dominate Balor. Balor gets very little offence in the match. The heels tried to avoid Baloe tagging in Strowman into the match. Strowman finally gets in the ring with Rush. He throws Rush across the ring before stomping him on the chest. Rush almost made a comeback when Lashley hit a spear on Strowman. But Braun kicks out after a frog splash attempt from Lio. Rush tried to run away but he is caught by Balor. Balor got shoulder tackled by Lashley, who got run over by Braun. Braun throws Rush into the ring for a chokeslam and then a running powerslam for the win. Winner: Finn Balor and Braun Strowman I am not that much invested in the IC title storyline. The match was fine. They are still booking Lashley to be strong. Balor barely got any offence in the match which is not great. Rating: 2/5 Backstage, Ronda Rousey is walking into the arena with her husband, Travis Browne. They walk into the referee John Cone who told Ronda that she is late. He also told her that in addition to the fine on Ronda, they have also increased security. Rousey just ignores and walks away. A Moment of Bliss w/ Elias Bliss hyped herself up as a great talk show host. She said she has inspired Lily Singh to be a talk show host before she introduces Elias. Elias comes out playing his guitar. He announces that he will be the headlining musical act at WrestleMania. He made some field goal reference which I didn't get. But the Chicago crowd did who booed him. He is talking about how if someone interrupts him at Mania he will... But before he can say anything else he is interrupted by the No way Jose's conga line led by Otus and Tucker. One of the members hit Elias and it was revealed that No way Jose was an intruder in his own conga line. Okay... No way Jose gets into the ring for a match with Elias. Elias vs No Way Jose Some back and forth action in the match. The crowd was dead for this one. The conga line tried to rally the crowd chanting his name but no one else made a sound in the arena. The finish came when Elias hit Jose with an elbow drop led by the drift away. Winner: Elias I guess this is a feud now. No one is interested in it but it is a feud. The match in itself was nothing special. Rating: 1/5 Kurt Angle announces his WrestleMania opponent Kurt Angle reminded us that he will have his farewell match at WrestleMania. He also said that his farewell tour will continue tonight. A "Thank You Kurt" chants by the crowd to which Kurt thanked the crowd back. He went on to thank the McMahon family to allow him to choose his WrestleMania opponent. And he announced that he will face the man who made his life living hell when he was WWE Raw General Manager. And that man is... BARON CORBIN. The crowd booed hearing his name. He said he will make Corbin tap out at Mania. Oh it's true... It's damn true. I will give this announcement and the following match separate rating. With all the dream matches that you could have had, with the roster depth that you had to choose an opponent for Kurt for his last match. They seriously went for Baron Corbin?! This is furious. The crowd booed not because he is a great heel but because we don't want to see this match. When Kurt said those line, that felt so scripted and badly acted too. Rating: 0.5/5 Kurt Angle vs Chad Gable Gable shaped Angle's hand and said that Angle is his hero. They did some technical wrestling in the ring. Kurt delivered a belly to belly suplex to Gable. Angle tried to go for the Angle Lock but Gable gets out and rolls him up for two. Kurt tried to hit three German suplexes but Gable got out of the second one and locks in Angle lock which got booed by the crowd. Angle gets out and tried to go for Angle Slam, Gable countered with a DDT. Gable went on the top rope for a moonsault. Angle moved out if the way and applies Angle Lock. Gable tries to fight but taps out. Winner via submission: Kurt Angle I will take this match over Angle vs Corbin at any damn time. This was not a great match. Just an average match with some spots. But still, Gable is a great wrestler and deserves much better. Rating: 2.5/5 Corbin comes out in a sea of boos by the crowd after the match. He said he will humiliate him in his last match. The crowd chanted for Cena. And I also wanted Cena to come out, but he is nowhere to be seen. In-ring interview with WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Boss & Hug connection Before the segment, Baron Corbin is talking to The Revival backstage. He is interrupted by Apollo Crews who challenged him for a match later tonight. He said that no one likes him to which he replied that The revival likes him. Revival just walked off saying "Hell no!" Carly Caruso is in the ring to interview Boss & Hug. She mentions that IIconics think that Banks and Bayley are ducking them by not appearing on SmackDown. Bailey announces that they will fight anyone. That's why they will appear on SmackDown tomorrow night and It'll be iconic, mocking the IIconic's pose. Natalya and Beth Phoenix interrupts them and gets in the ring. Beth said that Nia and Tamina ignited the fire inside her and now she is ready to step out of retirement to fight for the one thing that she has never held - The women's tag titles. Bailey and Banks cut a bit heelish promo on their opponents. They said that Competition is now evolved and Beth should take more time to prepare. This got heated and led to a mild brawl between the teams. Sasha Banks w/ Bayley vs Natalya w/ Beth Phoenix This was a short match. Both the women hit some of their signature moves. Banks is out recovering after a discus clothesline from Natalya. Nia Jac comes out on the stage. Nia mocks Beth and said she had accomplished more in her 3 years than Beth ever did in her career.. This was all a distraction as Tamina comes out from the crowd and throws Beth to the post before super-kicking Baykey and Banks to end the match. Winner by Disqualification: Sasha Banks Tamina ran away from Natalya back to Nia. They both laughed on top of the stage. Fine segment Beth Phoenix stepping out of retirement didn't feel like a big thing as we all saw it coming. The match was nothing. This was just to build a multi-team match at Mania, I believe. Rating: 2/5 Mojo Rawley is talking with himself in the mirror. I can't recall what he said. But I don't think it matters either. Ricochet vs Jinder Mahal w/ Singh Brothers Mahal dominated some of the match with chin locks and with the help of Singh Brothers. Ricochet made a comeback later he hit a running shooting star press. Mahal was pulled out by the Singhs. Ricochet got everyone with a dive on the outside. He throws Mahal in the ring and hit 630 for the win. Winner: Ricochet I hope this is not a feud. If it is it will be a lacking one. You can't even say it was a squash match as Mahal did get some offence in it. It was just there to showcase Ricochet's moves. Rating: 2/5 It was announced that Sue Aitchison will receive the warrior award at the Hall of Fame Ceremony. WWE Raw Women's Championship Match: Ronda Rousey (c) vs Dana Brooke Brooke had a backstage interview with Charly, who said that Ronda beat the likes of Becky and Charlotte and she is... Dana get what she meant and said that she might not be better but she needs to be better than Ronda for three seconds. The match starts. Dana blocked on a kick from Ronda but she caught Brooke with a jumping knee. She hit some more knees before applying an armbar for the win. Winner via Submission and still Raw Women's Champion: Ronda Rousey Rousey didn't let go of the armbar even after the bell rang. Dana was shouting in pain. She finally let go as a ref ran down the ring. She pushed him away and more security ran down. Ronda went to kiss her husband in the front row and slapped a security guy down. Travis pulled her in the crowd and calmed her down to walk away with her. This was more of a segment after the match than the match itself. I didn't mind the badass Ronda it is always good. I hope she just does it without reminding us that wrestling us scripted off TV. Loved how she just squashed Dana too. Rating: 3/5 Baron Corbin vs Apollo Crews Apollo dodged a slide out clothesline from Corbin. Corbin did his deadly move - the chin lock. He also hit his secondary moves like Deep Six but Crews kicked out. The crowd was chanting for Cena. Corbin went for end of days but Crews countered into a roll up for the win. Winner: Apollo Crews Not bothered by this match if they are working as they are doing a great job as I was bored by this match and hated them for this. Angle joined Crews on top of the ramp. Rating: 1/5 Interview with Batista via Satellite Michael Cole is conducting the interview with Batista who is live from Tampa, Florida. Barista said that he just doesn't like Triple H and he never did. Cole asks if it goes back to their Evolution days. He said it goes way beyond than that. He said Triple H just uses people to make him look good. Whether it was DX or Evolution. Cole asked why he quit in 2010. Barista replies he didn't quit. He was not getting opportunities that he deserved by his Boss Triple H. That's why he quit. He made a huge name for himself outside of WWE after that and become famous. He just hopes that Vince McMahon fires Triple H and end his professional career. At WrestleMania, he will end his in-ring career. He announced the interview to be over and demanded that camera crew got out. This was a great promo by Batista. He has just one goal and that is to end Triple H's career at Mania Rating: 3.5/5 Brain Strowman announced that he will be in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in a backstage interview. Drew McIntyre comes out to cut a promo before his match against Rollins. He said that he wants to talk to Joe the man, not Roman Reign. Joe, the father and the husband. He challenged him for a match at WrestleMania and said he may have been able to beat leukaemia but he won't be able to beat him. Rollins and McIntyre brawls midway in through the ramp as the match is going to start next. Drew McIntyre vs Seth Rollins There was action all around. Rollins avoided getting thrown to the steel steps and hits a moonsault, but Drew moved out if the way. McIntyre was going for a powerbomb in tge ring but Rollins countered with a hurricanrana. Rollins tried to go for a suicide dive on Drew but Drew caught him and throw him into the barricade. Later Rollins did two consecutive suicide dives on McIntyre and even hit him with his Superplex into a falcon arrow for a near fall. Rollins stomps his feet on the ring calling for the curb stomp. Before he could hit it Lesnar music hits and he comes out with Heyman to distract Rollins. As Rollins turns around to take care of Drew he ran straight into a Claymore. Winner: Drew McIntyre This was by far the best match on the show storyline wise as well as wrestling wise. I didn't like the booking though. You could have had Lesnar just laying out Rollins to end it a DQ or some way. I know you want to build Drew up for Reigns but you gotta build Rollins up as well. Rating: 3.5/5 This week's WWE Raw was very boring and frustrating tbh. It felt like a lot of fillers and boring matches. The bits I liked were the opening segment, Batista's promo and the main event. First, a little history.

Save The Cat! The Last Book on Screenwriting You'll Ever Need, was written in 2005 by Blake Snyder. Raise your hand if you read the reviews on Amazon before you buy a book? If your hand is up, you’d have to read through over a thousand five-star reviews on this little baby. Since then, it has grown in notoriety and influence, with at least four other books in the series (covering movies, novels, blogs and indie publishing) and even a website (with options for printing worksheets, taking classes, signing up for coaching and a discussion forum). To say that Blake and his team are a helpful bunch is a vast understatement. I could ramble and rave about the expertise they have to share, but this post specifically is about their newest development, Save the Cat Software.

This software is essentially a digital bulletin board… big enough to keep track of every scene, character trait, location detail and theme. There are tabs to sequence scenes, pin inspiration images, nudges to include both internal and external conflict and more.

Let’s think back to the two basic problems we started with at the beginning of this blog.

Obstacle #1: What should go into your story?

As a life-long reader, I am aware of a good story when I see one. However, recognizing a good story and creating one for yourself are two entirely different things. This software takes out some of the guess work by laying out specific elements you should include… possibly elements you might not have even considered without its helpful suggestion.

My favorite part of the “board” is the beat sheet that lays out (in order!) the major components of a story that you should include. If you follow its lead and write out a description for each “beat”/scene your basic story outline will be done! Isn’t that amazing? I think so!

A side note, if you head over to Blake’s Save the Cat Website, you can see the beat sheets for several films. I found it really helpful to see example stories broken down… both so I can understand how to do it for myself and also check out possible ideas/scenarios for each beat.

Obstacle #2: How should I organize my story?

I have always been a paper and pen kind of writer, and so in the past I have done most of what this software does, in my brain. Usually, I am able to successfully accomplish the storytelling I set out to do, but occasionally I get frustrated and overwhelmed as I attempt to piece it all together… in the perfect order.

I recently heard this quote on a podcast (I’m sorry I can’t remember which one… I listen to a few!).

In my early days I would print out a whole manuscript and lay out the chapters on my floor, rearranging their order and taking notes, and then attempting to copy and paste full sections of my novel from one place to another… the whole time DREADING that I would lose or misplace something.

This software eliminates that fear and helps a writer easily accomplish this task with their scene management tools. And because the software is helping me hold my ideas, safely, in an order than can easily be arranged, my mind is free(er) to wander, work, and explore other concepts. It sounds like a win-win to me.

A few of more of my favorite features include the helpful how-to videos that are imbedded in the platform. These videos quickly erase any confusion you may have with experiencing a new platform. I also like that you can choose the kind of project you’d like to work on, each specifically formatted for the type of story you want to tell.

After working with Save the Cat Software for a bit I will confess that I am still a paper and pen kind of girl. However, Blake’s Save the Cat framework gave me new story insights to consider and I have decided that the workbook is definitely more my style. However, if you are a tech-advanced kind of human and writer, especially one that could use a framework and easy to follow guidelines for storytelling, I’m certain that you will fall in love with this software quicker than you would a cuddly kitten.

BIO

Born on 23 August 1990 in Kishinev, Moldova.

Alina Nanu studied at the Moldavian State Dance Conservatory and subsequently at the Prague Dance Conservatory, graduating in 2010. As a member of the conservatory ensemble, she made a number of tours, including of Spain, Germany, and the USA. While still a student, she participated in numerous competitions, with the most noteworthy accolades including second prize at the International Ballet Competition in Brno (2009) and first prize at the International Ballet Competition in Romania (2009).

She launched her professional career in the 2010/11 season as a member of the ballet company of the State Opera Prague, where she was named a soloist in the 2011/12 season. Audiences have seen her performing the roles of Odette/Odile in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Myrtha in Giselle, etc. She has been a soloist of the Czech National Ballet since the 2012/13 season.

Zendaya’s Top 10 Red Carpet Looks

This has taken me two days, because narrowing down my top ten looks from Zendaya Coleman is not easy feat.

I almost gave up entirely, because I haven’t worked this hard my university exams, but it would be a crime not to pay homage to one of the most inspirational women to grace the red carpet, who – at the tender age of 23 – already has more hits on the red carpet than some people twice her age.

She is a fashion force to be reckoned with.  

I remember back in 2017, some people claimed her style to be overcooked. 

Do you still share that same sentiment?

1. Zendaya in Moschino – ‘The Greatest Showman’ Sydney Premiere

Once again I couldn’t figure out an order, so the only place to start was with her most iconic look in my eyes, her butterfly dress from Moschino.

I’ve said many times that I feel that this was her coming of age look.

A butterfly has always been a major symbol of transition.  Some will say that her official transition came at the 2019 Met Gala, but others will point to this moment.

2. Zendaya in Atelier Versace – 2018 Met Gala

Everyone knows Zendaya is a queen, and it looks like she took that descriptor literally by embracing the evening’s theme, ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,’ donning the armor of one of Catholicism’s most famed icons: Saint Joan of Arc.

Her custom metallic Atelier Versace gown features an armored neck-and-shoulder piece, sparkling chainmail, a spiked belt, and a modest train.

Zendaya also adopted a cropped wig in the style of The Maid of Orléans’ famous bob.

3. Zendaya Coleman In Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Couture – 2017 Met Gala

Third look in and I’m still on the Met Gala path.  That’s because this by this point Zendaya was somewhat of a veteran at this event.  Not in terms of age, but in terms of living up to the theme and the moment.

Some might argue that on this occasion her Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda ball gown covered in a tropical parrot print with vivid shades of tangerine, lemon yellow, and blue strayed from the avant-garde Comme des Garçons theme, it enlivened the red carpet with a fanciful glamour, yet the afro hair seemed to pay homage to Rei Kawakubo at the very least.

4. Zendaya in Vera Wang – 2019 Emmy Awards

Right around the time when Disney were shopping for their latest princess ‘Ariel’ for the film adaptation of ‘The Little Mermaid,’ Zendaya seemed to be placing her hat in the ring for the part of the lead actress with her newly dyed tresses and bustier gown by Vera Wang.

The Emmys are a jammed packed red carpet filled with both TV and movie star actresses, so it is kinda hard to stand out. 

Zendaya had no such issues.

5. Zendaya in Tom Ford – 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards

There were mixed reviews about this Tom Ford look, mostly because some felt the skirt felt too basic for the bustier, yet this still remains an iconic look for me.

6. Zendaya in Mônot – 2019 GQ Men Of The Year Awards

I think this was one of Zendaya’s best looks of 2019.  Simple elegance at it very finest from Mônot.   I hope she continues to spotlight more up-and-coming designers in the future.

7. Zendaya in Carolina Herrera – The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

Zendaya’s BEST look of 2019 was this tangy Carolina Herrera Resort 2020 dress.  It could’ve come off too contrived with the headband, and oversized pearl earrings, but it only added to the overall charm.

8. Zendaya In Armani Prive – ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ LA Premiere

Zendaya had more than on promo tour for Spider-Man, and several looks, but this black and red Armani Prive look was by far her best in my eyes.

9. Zendaya in Alexandre Vauthier  -‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ London Photocall

There are not many of us who can picture this Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2019 suit in its entirely working on anyone else without looking costumey. 

That’s the magic and brilliance of Zendaya.

10. Zendaya in Stella Jean – Live with Kelly & Ryan

This Stella Jean look still gives me chills. 

It’s oozing a cool, effortless, modern vibe, mixing prints that don’t belong, yet marry in a way that makes you want to reassess those “fashion rules.”

I realize that I didn’t get much passed 2015, and that Zendaya had many more great moments including her Elie Saab Haute Couture gown from The London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, the Front Row look at Armani Prive, her Vivienne Westwood gown from the 2015 Oscars, her Fausto Puglisi dress from the 2015 Met Gala, her Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown from the InStyle Awards, the Tiffany blue Dice Kayek Couture dress from the Tiffany & Co. Paper Flowers Event And Believe In Dreams Campaign Launch, her dual colour Viktor & Rolf tulle gown from ‘The Greatest Showman’ World Premiere and the Marc Jacobs feather dress from the Áme Jewelry Launch Event – to name a few – but I was determined to get keep this at a max of 10 looks.

As an indie author it’s important for word of my books to get out there. If I don’t go the extra mile to promote my novels, no one else will. So – how do I achieve this I hear you ask? 

    I achieve this by accepting invitations to appear at book fairs, signings, author talks or library visits. I use these events to create blog posts and  promos which I disseminate via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and two retweeting groups I belong to. This could be viewed as casting my bread upon the water in the vain hope that the fish will bite. However, I find that getting my name out there in a variety of ways reaps dividends.

Here are some of my top tips

There are many social media sites and they can be a real time suck, taking you away from your WIP. Experiment to find which ones work for you. I focus on: Facebook (personal, author page, groups) Twitter, Instagram and my website/blog. I also belong to many Facebook ‘groups’, it takes a little time to figure out which ones work get little or no traffic, so don’t be afraid to leave a group if you’re getting nothing from it. LIfe’s too short. 

Increase your social media presence

As a result of increasing my social media presence I have been invited to appear in Writers’ Magazine (blog tours – 2018), Writers Forum (my writing space – 2019) De Montfort University to lecture final year creative writing students, library visits, author talks and workshops. One word of warning – book sales are not always guaranteed so do check in advance that you will be paid for the talk, be offered petrol expenses and whether or not the venue will want 10% of your book sales. Yes, really (!)

Get out and about

I believe that my books deserve to be brought to the attention of the largest number of readers possible so I canvass different venues to see if they would like a visit from an indie author, or authors in the case of New Romantics Press. So far, I/we’ve appeared at Aspinalls of London, Waterstones Kensington High Street and hosted literary lunches at top Leicestershire venues to raise money for charity.  

Get organised

Keep your author bio, author photo, links etc up to date. Be organised, you don’t want to be hunting around for an excerpt of your novel when an outside agency approaches you. Invest in a mobile phone capable of taking decent photos and syncs with your computer.

Join author groups where you can learn from others. I’ve been a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association since 2006 and co-organise the Leicester Chapter with June Kearns. What I’ve learned from other authors has been invaluable. I used to belong to local writing groups where members critiqued each other’s work. They didn’t work for me, but they might work for you.

Don’t be afraid to enter competitions, but choose wisely as they can be time suckage, too. Remember to publicise the good bits which you’re happy to share and project a positive image of yourself and your novels. 

Check out the great promotional apps out there: Canva, Ripl, Photolab Photofunia  – you have to stand out from the crowd. 

Once you’re published and have proven sales, join professional groups such as the Society of Authors. It might not do much to raise your profile in the short term but offers invaluable professional advice on contracts, tax matters. Using the #SOA tag on your profile identifies you as a serious writer.

Remember your fellow authors

Make friends, be generous to other writers but don’t expect them to always return the favour. Invite authors on to your blog, ‘like’ any blogs you read and (if time allows) leave a comment. Read and review their books (don’t be afraid to ask them to do the same for you). Retweet authors in your genre, like their posts on Instagram etc. A good time for this is via your mobile phone when you’re watching tv (!) Remember the USA doesn’t come on line until (roughly) 3pm.

Over the past two years I’ve been offered an Amazon Prime Deal and an Amazon Kindle Deal in India. The former arrived via email when I was in John O’Groats on a research trip and I had to respond straight away. See what I mean about always having your phone with you, always being alert?!
