Ok! After over a month of working on it I finally have a chapter to post!

Introducing Tumblr, Tantrums, and Trauma

This fic is about Grian, Mumbo, and Scar who are roommates! The first main arc involves grian going through some stuff and starting to experience regressing. It's something the 3 of them aren't familiar with but they'll have to figure it out and handle it the best they can!

Let’s talk about Grian!

As a little…

His age is all over the place, and changes quite consistently when he is regressed depending on what he’s actively doing/who he is with

Does lot often drop below 4 or over like 13 I think? More of a middle of the pack kinda guy for the most part, like 6-10 is most common, but where in that range he’ll be is different every minute

Loves to pull pranks, surprising no one, but is much less inconspicuous about it when little. Much more muffled giggling from the distance when a hermit stumbled upon a primed prank.

Loves to have his wings preened/taken care of when small, but absolutely despises flying. Cannot stand it. It’s too overwhelming and stressful, and will take him right out of headspace because it’s just not safe for baby birds to be flying.

For S10, when he’s feeling small, he’ll mostly just wander around his bass/the mountain until he stumbles upon someone. Lots of people + cool things to see around there.

Scar lets him play/hang out with the animals which Grian thinks is the coolest thing ever and will actively seek him out just because he wants panda cuddle

As a CG…

Loves helping littles pull pranks, and will take the blame for them, winking at them and holding a finger up to his mouth when the victim hermit makes a fuss about it. No real harm is ever done, everyone’s a great sport about it, but littles love to feel like they’ve done something bad, and Grian will indulge this as much as he can.

Is better at taking care of more active littles who like to go out and do things, but will also happily stay at a base and just vibe if that’s what they want to do.

Encourages tantrums/crying/physical expressions of emotions, because it’s bad to keep that stuff locked up inside. Big on finding healthy ways to deal with negative emotions, even if it means taking a very long time to calm down.

ETHO

Etho uses a paci under his mask on anxious little days - not just when he's regressed young either. it mostly goes unnoticed bc he goes quiet or fully nonverbal often when regressed, so he just communicates with head nods and shakes and hand movements

when he's using his paci he gets super shy, cuddly and clingy, so it usually becomes a quiet day with his caregiver/sibling, watching movies and snuggling on the couch or bed. all while trying to suck the paci as quietly as he can

don't tell anyone about his secret paci btw, he's painfully embarrassed

the only person who knows (at first) is Skizz, his primary cg, and that's only bc he's the one who suggested it and Etho made him promise he wouldn't tell anyone or bring it up ever again...

who's to know if Impulse found it one day when making the beds and promptly placed it back under Etho's pillow with a soft smile

Grian on the other hand wasn't so gracious or subtle when he found out

GRIAN

Grian has on a couple of occasions been babysat by Joel and Jimmy together... he affectionately calls them the Juncles and gives them the hardest time, using his littleness as a scapegoat for pranks, insults and deathloops

(Jimmy has sworn he will never babysit Grian alone again after one terribly long day doing it on his own)

evidently, little Grian is just as much a menace as he is when big

actually, a lot of people find it hard to tell when Grian is regressed - when he is fully little his voice does change considerably and he has clear tells such as sucking his finger, but most of the time (especially when not at home with a primary cg) he is only half-regressed

and the difference between half-regressed vs big Grian is indecipherable to most; it's the same playful mischief, the same childish whining and awfully loud screaming, the same impish giggles, the same constant shy twisting of his jumper in his hands

[angst alert] this has unfortunately lead to times a babysitter reacts to his incessant bothering or pranks with annoyance or anger (as adult Grian can handle and bounce off of) but too-late realised Grian was actually half-regressed and their reaction pushed him all the way going by the sudden tears in his eyes and voice dropped to a shaky whisper saying 'sorry'

GEM

Gem has the most toys out of all of them. She has no shame or qualms around any childish things (unlike the other two) and most all of her littlespace revolves around playing games

the reason she has so many littlespace items is she needs the visual help to feel little, having her peripheral vision filled with kiddy stuff keeps her in the mindset - if she was just out in the world or somewhere without any input telling her she can be a kid, she just doesn't feel the pull towards it

she is actually age dreamer; very voluntary and conscious littleness that she decides when to indulge in. Not necessarily needing it, just enjoying it!

and the initial reason she decided the try out littlespace in the first place is she saw how close Etho and Grian were getting since spending regressed time together and sharing cgs

after her being the one to inform Etho she suspected he might regress involuntarily and triggering this whole situation, she felt just the slightest bit jealous that the person reaping the rewards of Gem knowing Etho better than he knew himself was Grian, not herself...

she wanted quality time with Etho when he was little (feeling desperate to find out how adorable he was when he regressed) and decided her being little too would be the best way to do it since Etho was so shy letting her see him regress. but as soon as she tried being little alone for the first time, she realised it was just fun in general and was hooked :3

imagining a hermit learning / getting comfortable w regression on Hermitcraft. okay gonna use solar waltz Grian here . As example hear me out.

So he’s getting more comfy w his regression! And what’s a builder to do? Make himself a safe corner of course !! So Grian makes all these plans. Designs himself an entire room or small base for him to be small in.

He starts working on it and doesn’t get very far before he regresses. Imagine someone coming to check up on him. Mumbo asks how’s the new project going? and comes in to an empty room and grian’s lost in a trance over toys he brought in to decorate with. Bonus points it’s like not even proper toys. He’s playing with a kid core patterned curtain.

When Grian is really little he likes to build little rustic houses from lincoln logs :]! They're easier for clumsy fingers than legos, you don't have to worry about making a fancy back, AND they make a REALLY fun noise when he knocks them down >:3

He loves knocking down his builds! The sound is always soooo fun and the fact that he gets to topple something over and destroy it makes his little gremlin brain go nuts! He's a mischief maker even when little!

I love your headcanons! I’m not sure if you’re up to date with Limited Life, but what if Grian’s AFK episode was instead Babyspce!Grian taking a super long nap and everyone in the server wanting to protect the baby?

Thank you anon, I'm really glad you like my stuff ^^ This ask actually really inspired me so thank you for sending it.

The whole 3rd episode of Grian’s gives me vibes of unsupervised children trying their best to take care of a baby and not knowing how to do that without causing chaos.

-Grian’s very happy to sit up on his llama, get taken for walks, and nap the day away. He doesn’t need any more entertainment after that. He’s just a tired baby who wants to sleep. Seems like no one got the memo though...

-Joel and Jimmy doing their best to be big brother’s a keep him safe while partially regressed themselves.

-Joel running to Grian every couple of minutes where he’s sat in his play pen to inform him of what is going on, not quite understanding why Grian doesn’t want to play with them like he usually does, but happy to try his best at including Grian in any way he can

-Scar and Cleo coming over to check on/babysit Grian for a bit. Or more like Cleo doing the actual babysitting while Scar just coos at the little. Joel being very hurt that Cleo thinks he and Jimmy can’t handle watching over the regressor for one day.

-You know those seats that allow babies to bounce up and down slightly? That’s what was trying to be recreated for Grian when they were dangling him from bread bridge on the llama. Once again Grian didn’t want entertainment, he wants a nap. It was all going fine till he bumped his head really badly and started crying. Then it was a panic to try and get him down because no one thought anything through.

-Grian just getting considerably crankier from not getting any proper rest with the amount of chaos going on around him

grian and gem's mental ages, energy levels, speech, behaviours, likes and thoughts all match up so directly when they're little that the caregivers, babysitters and etho all refer to them as the twins - which soon becomes the Twings (twin Gs)

scar calls them the Twigs because dyslexia
