Bingo: Comfort, no hurt TW: General anxiety

General info: Parks and Recreation, Mama Ann & Little April

As Ann walked through the halls making her way to the parks department for the the 10th time that week alone she checked her bag again. It wasn’t her fault her anxiety was taking over; she had gotten a text from April that simply said ‘Mama :(‘ She saw the black blanket in her purse and relaxed a bit more before walking into the department. She glanced around and didn’t see April but she was quickly bombarded by a hug from Leslie. One glance down at her outfit and noticing Ron’s careful eye on her she can tell Leslie is little.

“Hey sweetie” Ann murmured her eyes still flitting around searching for April “have you see April perchance?” She asked and Leslie’s face crumpled. “Oh she um she got she” Leslie stumbled over her words and Ann raised an eyebrow usually this happened when Leslie was excited but not now. “Leslie? Sweetie? Where’s April?” Ann asked a hint of urgency creeping into her tone. “Don know” Leslie finally admitted and Ann froze if Leslie didn’t know than Andy must.

Ann gently pried Leslie off of her guiding her back towards Ron before booking it to the shoe shining station. Where she found Andy sitting on one of the chairs and bobbing his head to one of his band's songs playing through his earbuds. “Andy” she said tapping his shoulder and he jumped “where’s April?” She tapped her foot, her eyes flicking back to her purse. “She walked past here and it was kinda weird she didn’t say hi or pretend to slit my throat or anything just kept walking. She looked kinda upset but I figured it was just one of her April moods y’know?” Andy explained and Ann nodded slowly.

Ann walked back to the elevator trying hard to stay calm as she messed with the straps of her purse. She clicked the button for the fourth floor and made her way up. When she arrived at the floor she was walking out quickly and making her way to the back finding the area of desks that April had claimed as her hide out when she and Andy had come exploring. Sure enough she found April underneath one of the desks sucking on her sleeve and looking exhausted. “Oh ‘pril” Ann murmurs, holding her hands out to coax April out. “Mama” April said her head snapping up “came” she added as she somewhat reluctantly crawled out from under.

“Of course I did baby bat” Ann replied with a smile as she brushed away the faint tear marks on her cheeks. April sniffled and buried her face into Ann’s neck “I know you’re not feeling good right now with your big feelings but let’s let mama see your face and get you comfy cozy okay?” Ann cooed as she slowly walked back to the elevator. “I think the button is a little too hard for me to push ‘pril…hmm do you think my little girl could do it?” She asks and April peeks her head out to nod and gently push the floor button.

“Is being around people going to be too much?” Ann asks and April quickly nodded “we’ll go out to the courtyard if that’s okay?” April nodded again and Ann felt a small pang of worry. She was used to April being quiet but this time felt different. She walked them out to the courtyard and set April down just to hear a small whine “one second love” she murmured as she pulled out the blanket and her baby bat pacifier. She wrapped April in the blanket and offered the pacifier before pulling out the yes/maybe/no button for her. 

April was completely relaxed in the blanket now as she sucked on her pacifier and clutched the button. Ann took a quick stealthy picture before putting her phone down and tugging April down onto her lap. “Do you wanna talk about it?” She asked softly into her ear as she undid April's messy ponytail. Ann kept a careful eye on the button as the maybe button lit up. “Did someone hurt you?” She asked and suppressed anger buzzed through her veins even at the thought of someone hurting April.

The no button lit up but Ann noticed April's tension “Do you not wanna talk about it anymore?” She asked, taking a quick guess and the Yes button lit up. She cradled her girl on her lap adjusting the swaddling and just listened to the suckling of aprils pacifier. She pulled out a tablet from the bag and opened up April's favorite cartoon “I don’t want you just swirling around in your head baby bat” she explained when April gave her a questioning look. She had already used her screen time before work and unfortunately Ann had been switching out the books like she did every two weeks and only had one left in there and it was too big for her baby right now.  

After almost an hour of the cartoon playing while Ann just comforted April and played with her hair, April looked up. “Messed up wif Ron I did some works wrong n was aleady bad day cause fogot I was pposed get Andy coffe n me too n I think made him sad” April explained softly looking ashamed as her eyes brimmed with tears. “That’s what’s being swirling around your head all day baby?” Ann asked cupping the younger girls chin with a gentle smile and April nodded sniffling again.

“Oh baby, I bet Ron isn’t mad. He probably didn’t even want to do that work. And Andy adores you in fact he was worried about you” Ann says, pressing a small kiss to her girl's forehead. And April's eyes widened before melting into Ann. Her pacifier bobbed in and out and it seems like just a few words from her mama made her relax.

 “We’ll go talk to them in a little bit, okay baby bat?” Ann whispered as she watched April's eyes droop and April nodded “good” she mumbled “gotta makes sure.” Then she was popping her head up as if she hadn’t been half asleep “then can Andy n I haf our concert? N if Leslie still little her too?” She asked and Ann chuckled softly “if uncle Ben says it’s okay. And Mr. Ron” she added and April nodded contentedly. She snuggled into her blanket and mama before drifting off to sleep the pacifier moving in and out as Ann watched over her.

Okay so I didn't have time to make art for the themes of the last couple of rounds for the TMNT AU Competition, but I did this time!!!

I love the steampunk aesthetic, I don't love drawing it as much though lol. There are a lot of gears and little mechanical contraptions and doohickeys which can be a bit tedious to draw. I still had fun with this though!

Mama Ann & Little April

April IS baby bat. And a teething baby bat she will put anything and everything into her mouth. Ann always has to keep her eyes on her but when it’s around Ron? Ann is overprotective as heck because April once put a grenade shell in her mouth when she was really little.

Anns facial expression? The exact face April gets when she whines about not wanting to have to go to bed or wanting to play with Andy.

Ann loves to write little notes for April and hides them around both Ann and Aprils house (later in the show w/ Andy & Ben) and the parks department sometimes!!

I’ve said this before but April loves scooby doo therefore scoping snacks so Ann has some at all times and it’s one of the easiest ways to convince her to behave

Aprils favorite movie is Coraline & asks for it every movie night. This movie just seems so on brand for her and she quotes it to Ann on a normal basis.

April absolutely has non verbal episodes and therefore Ann found a Yes, Maybe, No button for her to use.Definitely inspired by that bluey episode

April just looks adorable here with the sweater paws and her hair that’s my main explanation here

Ann is Prepared with a capital P. She is a nurse she knows how to handle things that come out of nowhere so she always has a bag for April!

Headcanons:

🩺🦇: April and Andy are best friends and they have a little band for when they’re little and Ann and Ben and Leslie and even Ron all show up for their mini concerts.

🩺🦇: April loves to listen to music when she’s little and/or overstimulated and so Ann convinced Andy to make clean versions of his songs for her.

🩺🦇: On a similar note just like the written messages Ann leaves audio messages for Ann!!

🩺🦇: on days when Ann has long nursing shifts and April is little April sets up a little fort with Andy (big or little) while Leslie babysits and they play in the fort until Ann gets home and she and April cuddle.

🩺🦇: CLINGY APRIL! This is dear to me and April refuses to admit it but she loves clinging to her mama! Sometimes it’s just been a long day and she needs Mama and a switch game.

🩺🦇: there are times when April insists shes a big girl and goes to do something scary or something that will make her anxious in littlespace and Ann has to gently and quickly divert away from it.

🩺🦇: When April is big and clearly needs to be little April makes her a little nest with scooby snacks and a tablet and a few picture books and a sippy cup and her pacifier. April will reluctantly sit on her lap and Ann will coo and praise her and April slips very quickly.

🩺🦇: April babbles in Spanish and slips between that and English when she’s small and Ann has been doing duolingo and learning it ever since they started their dynamic.

🩺🦇: April loves oversized clothes and especially sweaters. What does she love more than that? Ann’s sweaters. 8/10 times Ann’s ‘missing sweaters’ are with April. (2/10 times they’re with Leslie). But they smell like Ann and April adores it.

Ok one really goofy pet peeve for fics I see but isn’t addressed ever that could be utilized for a fic is a Bat taking a random USB from someone that told them to look through it and just straight up plugging it into the batcomputer.

If you work with sensitive information at ALL your job will drill into your mind to never plug in anything ever that isn’t company approved into a computer because that’s one of the easiest ways for your company’s systems to get hacked.

So consider: Danny gives one of the Bats a USB on GIW info, a ghost encyclopedia, Fenton blueprints, you name it. They plug it directly into the batcomputer. Normally it has some safety’s in place to prevent hacking from foreign software but they never had any way to defend their tech against ghost software.

With the combined minds of Technus and Tucker; they successfully made an undetectable backdoor into the Batcomputer.
