"Women who like yaoi" are usually women who fetishize gay men. Like... They literally sexualize gay men. A lot of yaoi is also really really bad. And I don't mean low quality. I mean filled with abuse and romanticized toxic relationships.

Queer people who "make fun of" (aka, call out the creepy behavior of) women who fetishize gay men and only ever engage with them in a hypersexualized way aren't being anti-masculine. Actually, the fetishization of queer men IS anti-masculinity.

"Fujoshis" have consistently made queer men extremely uncomfortable by engaging in queer sexualization and objectification while actively calling it sin. Like, were you guys not around in the early to mid 2010s when the phrase "sinning is winning" was a thing and specifically applied to these cishet teen girls consuming gay porn? "Fujos" are the female equivalent of cishet men who fetishize lesbians and only ever watch objectifying lesbian porn that was made for men.

I'm shocked that I just read the tag "the antifujo to transphobe pipeline is real" like???? Yeah, sure, there's some trans people who go from "watching gay porn" to realizing they might actually be trans but that's not the same as the cishet girls who like yaoi.

asking for opinions about armand on a friday night is crazy because ive been terrorizing the people in my life about him for a month and now?? im being asked to talk about him?? anyway so i couldnt get thru s1 back in 2022 bc it felt like a kind of rehash of hannibal (character dynamics wise) in a different setting and kind of bored me. i really liked louis in the pilot and honestly would just watch a historical drama about a black pimp and his gens de couleur family in 1930s nola and that was cruelly ripped away from me and ill never forgive lestat. BUT THEN s2 arrived and i gave it another go and armand just rose out of this show as a character ive truly never seen before?? his identity-lessness, his role as a bad stage director, that eager black hole growing around 500 years of life, its so fascinating. the Moment for me with him is obviously the donor painting seeing the whitewashed beautiful pleading garish (when compared with the real man) painting just shifted something in my soul. and THEN getting hit with the arun/maitre stuff and them the entirity of ep5 directly after? ive literally memorized the loumand argument from listening to it so many times Television of All Time fr. i love failmarriages that rot and decay and are inescapable and loumands whole thing felt so good and fresh and so so tasty. those bitches do not like each other. they dont even like each other and yet theyve stayed together for 77 yrs in a relationship built on abuse, spite, and 24/7 power exchange bdsm and thats CRAZY ! plus ive never seen toxic yaoi executed so well with two nonwhite, darkskinned characters and as a south asian that lowkey made me happy lol. anyway i love armand so much he sucks so bad but i do feel deeply seen and deeply compelled by his little gremlin ass

I miss Louis’ New Orleans era too. I get why Lestat fell in love with him, though, if I saw this beautiful creature pull a knife on his own brother in the middle of the street I’d stop at nothing to pursue him. It’s alluring. I think that’s the part of Louis Lestat has always loved and loathed most, his fierce independence and survivor’s instinct and capacity for violence. I say loathed because Lestat’s always torn between wanting Louis like that and wanting Louis to be his little housewife. He’s stupid like that.

I thought his stage direction was nice. Were his plays “good”? No. But were his notes well thought out? Yes. His notes for the trial were good. So it’s the playwright’s fault the scripts were bad, actually.

Re: his identity, I really think he’s doing fine. Not everyone needs a laundry list of hobbies and characteristics to “have an identity.” It’s true that Armand molds himself into whatever shape that’s required of him and sometimes he makes erroneous assumptions about it, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an identity. I think Armand doesn’t perceive himself as having an identity, and it’s obvious that he structures his life around whatever role he’s occupying, and that it’s all very fragmented and difficult for him to see the continuity in it, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an identity. His priorities and thought process are fairly obvious to the viewer, so that’s his identity. You can see the structure of his mind. That’s him. Right there. We don’t have to wait for the “real” Armand, he’s already here.

I don’t remember when I started loving him, but it was before the painting. Maybe the hunt, or when he starts participating in the interview. The painting did change something for me, though, and so did the bench scene. But I liked him from the start of season two, really, from the moment I found out he’d essentially been stalking Louis the whole time in Paris. I like him most when he’s got a little bit of edge, but then again, I love him when he lies. I actually have a shirt with their argument printed on it. It’s so fucking funny.

Well, I think there was love, at least before Armand strangled it to death. I don’t know if Louis ever loved Armand again, not after the trial, but I think Armand loved Louis, although not in a way that would really be comprehensible as love to anyone else. Maybe only the way you love something you own. But I think he at least enjoyed the performance of it. Besides, all the best relationships are 24/7 BDSM built on abuse and spite. You don’t agree? I think it’s very romantic.

Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve seen something like that too. And it was the greatest thing ever and I’m really glad we got a South Asian lead, even if I’m unsatisfied with AMC’s promotional strategy. And in another one, she runs away from Glaukos when he tried to charm her. And yadaya he went to Circe to ask for a potion to charm Scylla. Circe thought the gods wouldn't like something like that (idk that's what happened in the myth. But we all know our Greek mythology so this is kinda weird-) and offered to be Glaucus's lover instead. When he refused her, she got so angry and jealous she turned innocent Scylla into a monster.

Oh, I absolutely get where you're coming from. In general, when it comes to "toxic ships", it'll always be so much fascinating to me to just have them fucking hate each other. No romance or attraction and/or "hate-fucking".

I can understand the appeal of toxic yuri in a way (I've always preferred yuri in general over yaoi lol) but like, I think it's juicier even to have that visceral fucking hatred. Especially from Scylla's end. And even then, Circe talks mad shit about Scylla in the Odyssey.

It's kind of a curious thing in which Circe seems to imply that Scylla was BORN as a monster based on how she mentions Scylla's "mom". I don't know if this is just "Homeric version" of the myth or what but it's something neat to think about.

And honestly? My Circe, being the wacky potion making scientist gal I have her as, would probably be even more of a bitch in how "ooooo experiment time." only to realize "Oh wait, I made her too scary and TOO powerful. hm. nevermind. Not going near her."

With Circe and shipping, idk, I've always felt like she'd be like "messy". It's not that she's not capable of love, I think she's just like, so much of a "I do whatever the fuck I want" that she probably wouldn't really respect her partner's boundaries. She's like Maureen from "Rent" and/or PotC's Calypso where the only reason why she didn't see Davy Jones after he waited was "It's in my Nature".

The smell of sweat and blood filled the dark underground room of Lou’s tavern as you pushed your way through the crowd of shirtless men. You stepped on a puddle of blood, and what you only believed was a tooth, before taking your place in the circle.

Tonight was your second night at the illegal boxing club, it was something you had never seen or experienced before. It was better than any drug, alcohol, or therapy session you could buy, and it was completely free, currency wise; you paid with your health.

It was just the thing you needed, the release your mind needed. It didn’t matter how much money you had in your bank, or how society viewed you, in Fight Club, you were equal.

Equality came by getting punched in the jaw as hard as the other guy next to you.

A new face stood across the ring from you, he was on the leaner side, with bleach blonde hair and eyebrows, he looked like a punk rock star. You would be lying if you didn’t think he was attractive, but you knew this wasn’t a place for those thoughts.

The fight ended with one of the men throwing up a huge puddle of blood along with some vomit. It was a disgusting sight, yet reminded you of why Fight Club existed, to show you you’re alive. Only those who are alive can feel pain.

Tyler stripped the two men from each other and scouted the ring, picking out the next two fighters. He chewed on a toothpick as he walked around slowly, you swallowed thickly, watching as he chose the blonde boy, then turned on his heel and pointed at you.

The bruise on the boys forehead led to believe this could be his second or third fight, and his nervous shaking also led you to believe he was generally scared but excited to throw a few punches.

The two of you walked into the inner circle and stared at eachother, and you took a moment to soak in his beauty. He had sharp blue eyes that were incredibly lit despite the overwhelming darkness in the basement, his jawline was sharp enough to cut diamonds and his big hands allowed your mind to wander.

You were snapped out of your daydreams as the men’s screams and cheers brought you down to earth, and you got in a position for the fight.

The blonde threw the first punch, it missed you by a hair, and he began to laugh. It wasn’t a mocking laugh, but yet a soft and lighthearted laugh. You threw a right hook, connecting it on his cheek, and causing him to stumble back. He groaned loudly, almost losing his footing but adjusting his posture just before he could fall.

The blonde threw his next punch straight at your nose, causing both of your nostrils to instantly begin bleeding. A yelp escaped your mouth before punching him in his ribs back to back, resulting in the man falling flat on his back due to the injury and hitting his head, making a loud thud.

You could see a small pool of blood begin to form from his head and he tapped out. You bent down and reached out your arm, pulling him up and helping him to his feet. He held his head in pain as he took your hand, surprised by your kindness since the last time he got whooped, the only one who would help him get up was Tyler.

You walked him out of the circle as the crowd cheered and yelled at the two new fighters beginning their work. During Fight Club, you would stick around for every single fight, it wasn’t a rule persay, it was more of a sign of respect. Though as you watched the blonde groan in pain from the head injury you gave him, you felt obligated to help him.

Without word, you took him by the hand once again and snuck out of the basement, thankfully, no one noticed your absence due to the entertainment infront of everyone. You began to lead the now confused blonde to the dingy bars bathroom.

“Hey, if you want me to fuck you, just ask, you don’t have to drag me around.” He said with a laugh as you pushed the men’s bathrooms door open.

You left him infront of the mirror while grabbing toilet paper for him to dab the blood from his head.

“I got you good, didn’t I?” The boy said cockily, gesturing to your half-dried-half-bloody nose.

You let out an airy laugh and nodded your head, handing him the wad of toilet paper. He smiled with a light ‘thank you’ under his breath, reaching to finally attend to his bleeding wounds. “Ah, fuck..” he said with a whine, shooting you a pitiful glance.

“You’re, fuck—, good at this whole fighting thing, huh?” The boy said in obvious pain, he looked like a kicked puppy and you couldn’t help but feel terrible for your actions.

“Here, let me, I’ll help you.” You took the toilet paper back from him, and leaned up against the sink while pulling him closer by grabbing on his belt loop.

He smirked and put his head against the wall, staring at you with those piercing eyes again. You began to tend to his wounds, keeping your head down, too embarrassed to look him in the eye.

“Is this what you do to all your victims?” He chuckled and put his hand on the wall next to your head, completely trapping you in his arms.

“Only the ones whose asses I kick severely.” You joked with him, the attraction you felt towards him was palpable and you wondered how obvious you were, desperately trying to hide your red cheeks from him.

“Oh come on, it wasn’t THAT bad of a loss, I got some good hits in there too!” He said in rebuttal, nudging you with his elbow and trying to get you to look at him. “But you were, really, really good.” He said in a lower voice, making goosebumps on your exposed and bruised arms shoot up.

“I feel bad, I didn’t expect you to fall like that.” You admitted bashfully, throwing the bloodied tissue down on the already disgusting bar floor.

Your eyes widened as he gently gripped your chin, lifting it up to make you look him. You swallowed thickly as you made a mental note of how hot he looks with a busted lip and his hair sticking to his forehead due to sweat.

“Don’t sweat it, I thought it was fun.” He grinned, letting go of your chin and watching you squirm under his touch, he definitely knew he was hot, and he was using it to his advantage. “You look sexy like that, you know, with the nose all bloody.” He scanned you with his eyes, taking in every little detail and movement you made.

You scoffed at his comment, not being able to contain your embarrassed smile, gently pushing him in a playful way. He had you absolutely whipped, and he was well aware.

“That face punch was dangerous, you know, you would be damaging merchandise, since they call me Angel Face and all.” He laughed, slowly moving his hands down to your waist, keeping eye contact with you to make sure you were okay with everything he was doing.

You were completely frozen, your mind was completely empty with nothing except the weight of his hands against your bare skin.

“Angel Face? That’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard today.. I’m not calling you that.” You giggled, the awkwardness slowly melting as you allowed yourself to be in the moment with him.

Angel Face, as you now knew him, slowly got closer to your face, ghosting his lips over yours.

“Yeah, but it’s a fitting name, no?” He grinned against your mouth.

You tensed up, feeling your face heat up against his. Angel noticed your nervous expression and began to slowly rub your waist with his hand, bringing you to a calmer state, and holding you closer to him. You were not even an inch apart from eachother and you could feel his breath against your lips. The two of you were waiting on the other, and you could hold back any longer.

You pushed yourself into his lips and placed your head on his chest, dripping with sweat. He held you close and began to kiss you hungrily, gripping your waist harder. You pulled away to come back for air and saw as your blood had transferred just above his lip, oddly making him hotter by the second.

Kyman YouTuber x Twitch streamer au where they are both popular creators on their both respective platforms yet literally both them and their fans hate each other with a extreme burning passion

Cartman was already like canonically a YouTuber(the cartmanbrah thing) but I do think he'd fit better as a twitch streamer, anyways he would definitely be like a ishowspeed type of streamer, where he's so controversial it leads to infamy to actual fame, for every hater he has, he has 3 more fans that find him incredibly hilarious. He'd definitely be aware of his notoriety and try profitting off of it, although he'd probably slow down over time because he doesn't want any of the sponsors to drop him LMAO.

Now over to Kyle, I think he'd have like the total opposite of Cartmans career, where Cartman blew up incredibly fast because of his persona, Kyle would have started earlier and overtime rose to popularity,at first he'd definitely be one of those "hidden gems" type of youtubers, where he has a small but dedicated fanbase that enjoy the variety of his content. I think he'd have like many types of videos(video essays and raising awareness for other important topics) at first, his videos are quite awkward and janky but overtime you can see him improve him as his mic quality gets better and his videos get more detailed, he'd be known for a few very popular call-out videos he made for other creators, his fans would love him because of of his sincerity and how he isn't afraid to call out other people on their bs, and whereas Cartman is loud and brash, Kyle is very polite and civil(even in his call-out videos) and he very rarely gets mad or rages out loud in his videos(well until cartman shows up in his videos LMAO)

I think they'd both blow up at the same time and get extreme amounts of attention, Cartman because of his streaming and his very horrid remarks and Kyle because of a very well-researched 3 HOURS long video essay where the topic/title is basically "How content creators breed toxicity in their community and others" with a HUGE png of cartman slapped onto the thumbnail. (Most of the segments are basically about Cartman with passing mentions of other creators) Anyways his fans would notice a big difference in his behavior in this new video because of how frustrated he is LMAO and how much he uses subjective language, "HES A RUDE, MANIPULATIVE SOCIOPATHIC ANTISEMITIC ASSHOLE WHO HAS NO REGARD FOR ANYONE ELSE AND HIS FANS AND SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE PLATFORM" he'd def gain new fans from this but I think cartmans fans would find the video and start clowning/spam the comment section and Kyles new and old fans would defend him and now both of their fambases are basically waging war on each other

Also they would narrowly avoid being cancelled because of their behavior towards each other, Cartman for his (implied) antisemitism calling Kyle a jew many times as an insult and Kyle for his (very direct) fatphobia towards Cartman lmao fortunately when anyone tries to cancel the two of them, both of their fanbases put aside their differences and defend them from everything.

mizutaigen is literally like. the first "toxic" m/f ship i've ever cared for. cuz like usually my taste in m/f ships is basically "unhinged baddie" x "badass wifeguy" *

She is part of a weird fucked up love triangle with two dudes. All three of them are honestly kind of terrible for each other but she gets shoved aside in favor of the two dudes in most fics and is not allowed to grow past the toxic relationships of her past. Also she’s a cis woman who dresses pretty masculinely (because she’s in a mercenary band) so she gets type casted as the mean lesbian friend, when she’s straight in canon

I've seen more than one Yaoi Shipper say that Casca should have died during this one big canon event as opposed to being assaulted by one of the people in the Yaoi Ship, which of course conveniently would remove her from the narrative and as an obstacle to said Yaoi Ship. Aside from that specifically, though, I think it's particularly cruel to imply that being killed is a better outcome than being a victim of SA, and is an example of the contempt fandom on the whole has for female characters who act traumatized - particularly when both male characters in the ship have similar trauma and its never implied they should have died rather than be assaulted.

She's an incredibly interesting character in her own right with really good dynamics and parallels to Griffith and Guts, and the way those three play off of each other is integral to the story, but most of what I've seen completely ignores her in favor of focusing on only Griffith and Guts

As Fruba fan, are you team Yuki/Kakeru or Yuki/Machi? Why?

I'm a multishipper at heart so I never feel the need to choose uwu (multishippers, we stay winning). But to be honest, Kakeru and Yuki's relationship feels more brotherly to me. Sorry YuKakeYu shippers, I personally don't see it but I can see why y'all do. Considering the canonical bi/pan characters we have like Ayame and Hatsuharu, I don't find it out of the realm of possibility to see Yuki as pan or demi (which I personally do).

Bro connects with who he connects with, gender and sexual orientation have little to do with it.

But if we're talking about who I ship Yuki with above all else? There is a character I firmly believe Yuki would have ended up romantically with if things in the story were different and Kakeru and Machi don't come close at all to being that other person.

It's Kyo.

I am deadass serious when I say it is Kyo.

This is not some toxic yaoi shipping bullshit, I have evidence to back up my claims!

No one will ever be able to convince me that Yuki's first crush wasn't Kyo. Yuki was literally smitten with Kyo and his hair upon their first meeting, the pink on his cheeks wasn't just coming from the snow. This is a hill I will 100% die on. It was Kyo but then Kyo's hostility and the complications with Akito and the entire zodiac curse got in the way of that.

Hell, I don't even really have to imagine what that relationship would have likely been like either because by extension of Hajime and Mutsuki, we get to see that.

Their sons who are literally so close that it is a joke-that-isn't-really-a-joke at the family functions that if they're even left alone together for one second, they'll start hanging all over one another. Their sons who, narratively, are supposed to represent what their fathers' relationship could have been if there had been no curse or any other sort of negative influence tainting it.

And with the very clear romantic overtones of Hajime and Mutsuki's relationship, I think it is subsequently clear where Yuki and Kyo's relationship would have headed if that night they met as kids went differently. Or had someone decided to intervene and get the two of them on more amicable terms as children.

Hajime and Mutsuki have adored each other since they were children, spent most of their time together which they continue doing in the present and they balance each other out by supplementing for each other what the other lacks. And, of course, their chemistry is extremely good.

Whatever happened in the past, we're just us, but… maybe it's really special for our dads to see you and me standing side by side like this. ー Mutsuki, Yuki's son to Hajime

(Like, they literally spend Valentine's Day together when they could easily just spend that day apart. I know they live together but they don't need to be that damn close to partake in the romance holiday goodies.)

And to me, Kyo and Yuki have some great chemistry not only when they're arguing with one another (which I say it's great chemistry because of the envy they feel towards one another, how they only see what is good in the other rather than the flaws. Ex, Yuki's great at everything in Kyo's mind while Yuki desires Kyo's ability to easily connect with people despite his social awkwardness) but during the moments they aren't at each other's throats as well.

Admittedly it could just be my multishipper goggles, but there are 2 main character relationships/dynamics in Fruits Basket where I think 'if you didn't end up with A, you definitely would have ended up with B'. One is more subtle, the other is extremely obvious (I just think some people will be mad at me if I say it lmao, y'all can boo me all you want though I'm right!!!!).

YuKyo is one of those ships for me and it's the more subtle of the two.

Like it is there but it doesn't become obvious until you get to Furuba Another and get introduced to their sons. So I really don't think it is much of a stretch to say that had things been different, we would have seen Kyo and Yuki have an entirely different relationship.

"Adoration turned into envy"??? Yuki, my lad, you couldn't be more obvious that your crush on Kyo became something bitter.

Yuki wanted Kyo to like him, a fact he admits to Kakeru when we dive more into his past. There's a part of him that still wants Kyo to like him and have some sort of positive relationship with each other. And by the end of the main series, there's peace with one another. An acceptance that their relationship may never get to the 'what it could have been' but they have each other's back regardless.

Which I think is lovely. So even with my love of the canon ships we got, YuKyo is one of my favorite Fruits Basket ships that live rent-free in my head.

Following my posts about Owen and John/Johnto, there is something I would like to put out there that I feel like is very important to say.

You can like ANY torchwood character/ship.

I saw a post on twtwt saying “all Owen fans agree with SA” no they don’t! You can like Owen and acknowledge his actions are bad and the same with John. The problem arises when you deny their actions, defend them or you attempt to justify them. That doesn’t just matter for these two characters, but any of them.

Every character in Torchwood is morally grey; none of them are good people. That is what is so great about the show. HOWEVER, if you cannot criticise these actions and try to pretend that they never happened for the sake of your “perfect character” because it removes what makes them so interesting.

I will never not like someone because of a fictional character they like or a ship they ship, however if they start actively defending an action such as literal SA then I won’t associate with them because that is disgusting. Realistically only a VERY small portion of Owen, John etc fans are like this.

Also a very small thing I want to add because while I’ve only seen this once or twice it made my blood boil. Yes TDOCJ was an AU and yes In the shadows was a hallucination. However you cannot say that to excuse Johns actions only to use those exact scenes to back up your “toxic yaoi” ship in cannon. SA isn’t fucking “Toxic ship! :3” it is a crime.

I really liked your analysis on the discourse around flower husbands and I would like to give my personal perspective from someone who’s been here since the end of third life.

The fandom was 100% still reeling over from negative effects of no shipping in the hermitcraft fandom. The majority of life series fans came from hermitcraft as well, after all nearly all of the players in third life were hermits. You could joke about treebark and maybe scarian being gay but I remember seeing a lot of homoerotic art being tagged “THIS IS NOT SHIP ART ITS PLATONIC” and later on a few of those artists would post shipping art without fear. If you had a romantic interpretation of a relationship in third life, you would quickly chalk it up to being friends. Shipping was still uncomfortable territory for many. Maybe because they didn’t like shipping themselves and weren’t expose to it or maybe they did but was still feeling the effects from others in 2019/2020.

Flower husbands you couldn’t chalk it up to just being friends. If you didn’t like shipping you can make everything platonic but you would look like an idiot trying to say that they were “good friends” or “roommates” in third life. No, Scott and Jimmy were known as husbands, they did it themselves. Not the fans, the creators themselves. Yes there will be dramatic and angsty ship art of the two. For everyone else? Not really. Like I said, people would have to explicitly say it wasn’t ship art between Ren and Martyn or Scar and Grian. If you didn’t want that type of art you just wouldn’t look at Scott or jimmy’s tags. Simple as that.

As time went on I would say around double life shipping had coursed its way back into the fandom. Having a romantic interpretation of Treebark was fine, just properly tag it and everyone was chill. Same with Scarian, hell, I would say the shipping lens started taking over more than the platonic one lol. And with double life having soulmates, that gave the shipping culture a big boost. You don’t like it? Well it’s gonna be hard to avoid Bdubs or Impulses tags when they’re making “honey imm home!” jokes or BigB and Grian literally in their own words “cheating on their soulmate for their secret soulmate” Grian saying “I’m gonna take your man” is just fuel to the ever growing fire. If you didn’t like shipping then buckle up because double life was fruity as hell with nearly all of the creators. Mother fucking Joel Smallishbeans made a ship called “The Relations” and put Etho’s face on his skin’s shirt. You couldn’t avoid shipping at all when the creators are also the ones doing it.

So shipping is wild spread now and more accepted. As for flower husbands well you couldn’t really make the ship more than “tragic gays with fluff and angst”

Scarian you could make it toxic, you could make it healthy, you could make it whatever you want because it was never “canon”. Flower husbands was built in a time where shipping was uncertain and a lot of their early day works was either them being fluffy husbands together or tragic yaoi. To make one of them toxic it was out of the question.

I however could not tell you why it’s only Scott being the “toxic” perpetrator in flower husbands. Could be an individual’s bias and own experiences, could be how they view the creators, maybe a bit of projection or maybe they have only been exposed to toxic!scott that branching out to toxic!jimmy, something that’s extremely rare, might be hard and they don’t want to put the work in to make it themselves.

In conclusion, flower husbands was the only way you could ship in early days of the life series because you couldn’t ignore the romantic relationship Scott and Jimmy portrayed. If you did with other relationships it could easily be chalked up to being friends and if something could be seen as shipping you HAD to disclose that it wasn’t. Flower husbands was allowed but dear god if you said a king and his hand was tragic yaoi you would have been sniped.

People are attached to a ship that was the “acceptable” ship so having a negative interpretation can be viewed as bashing the ship or worse one of the creators (most often Scott) but now that it’s more open to other interpretations people are rightfully be a bit protective.

Also also if you have found any posts interpretation Jimmy being the toxic person with his relationship with Scott please do share. I haven’t seen any posts like that and I’m quite bored of toxic!scott within flower husbands shipping. I need a little bit of spice in my life you know? Anyway, have a good day.

I think I didn't make my point about Jimmy clear, my bad -- my point was that making FH toxic was always discourse that reflected back onto Scott, instead of Jimmy. I don't think it's the Jimmy fans up in arms was what I was trying to convey.

I personally see Scott as abusive towards Jimmy and have held this view since my first watch of Scott's 3L POV. I feel like it's almost hard not to arrive at this conclusion if you approach it in the same way you approach other ships. i.e. I've never seen someone storyboard the "go back and get the sugar cane!" sequence from episode 1 and have it not read as anything other than that (btw if anyone knows any way of making this scene not horrifying I'd be genuinely curious)

As for toxic jimmy posting, I'm not the biggest fan of these interpretations because I operate by a different school of thought when it comes to this series and I've found some arguments for Jimmy being toxic in the past a little uncomfortably reminiscent of irl victim-blaming but that being said who am I to get in the way of people making stuff they enjoy. I'm not the FH/Scott maintag 🤷‍♂️

Personally I have a whole AU in my brain made up for them, but I might write a fanfic eventually and I don’t want to spoil it too much, so I’ll try to stick to pseudo-canon.

The main gimmick of the ship is that Qi has reached an enlightened state where he is self aware of the player and the code and can break the fourth wall, whilst Dobson is quite literally stuck IN the aforementioned code. There are two main ideas I’ve been basing the ship on here— one, that Qi knows Dobson is stuck in the code (and possibly why), and two, that Qi is possibly the only one who would even know that Dobson ever existed in the first place.

With these basics, I think you can take the ship in a lot of directions. I joked about it in the tags of the fanart I made, but the idea of them getting romantically involved/having a dramatic breakup and Qi trapping him in the code out of embarrassment is kind of funny to me. That prompt specifically also means that there’s a lot of room for this shit:

RE; Qi’s role itself, I also think there’s a lot of room for Undertale/When They Cry/EEAAO timeline shenanigans (which is the idea I go for the most because i’m such a sucker for it!). I mean, it’s implied that Qi knows you’re playing a video game, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that he COULD find a way to be watching every player in every save file at all times. How Dobson is involved is up to you, but I just think it would be really fun if this was involved somehow beyond as a vague statement…

…Personally, I really adore the idea of Dobson and Qi being foils in the sense that Qi plays with the farmer for enjoyment, whereas Dobson plays with the farmer to win. I think if Dobson made it impossible for a player to complete the game, for instance, or if he was a particularly sore loser, that even a man like Qi who trusted and loved him enough to hand him the metaphorical Eden apple on a silver platter would take it away in a heartbeat for the good of the valley and the joy of the game.

My final real Thing Of Note is about the 2nd point I mentioned, because I think regardless of why Dobson was sealed away, the idea that Qi would be the only one to remember him is kind of tragic and haunting. I very much enjoy the idea that a man who lacks even the quality of basic existence would have such a profound effect on a man like Qi, who is, knows, and has everything anyone could ever ask for. This song reminds me of the situation a lot, especially this part:

…But those are just my takes. Like a lot of SDV side characters, they’re so malleable that within reason, you can honestly headcanon whatever you want about them (which is the part of the appeal to me!) I think part of me just likes it because the idea of Qi having more fanonical demons beyond like “might have been into your Grandpa” really gets me going.
