thinking about this 85 year old customer we had that came in. the cashier said she looked good for her age and she said something along the lines of “Thank you. I’ve got all these wrinkles and I deserve ‘em’!” in the most enthusiastic tone.

she said that she thought skin care and anti-wrinkle products were ridiculous and that our skin is our history of where we’ve been. i cant remember what she said word for word but i know whatever she said brought me comfort.

Sometimes my grandma will do things that shows how much trauma she's been through and it makes me so sad and mad.

Like how she called me without texting first this weekend while I was at the store. I answered the phone and was like "Hey grandmommy! I'm at the store so it might be a bit loud!" And she almost immediately hung up. Then I get this long text from her where she's apologizing for being inconsiderate, that I'm young and free and she should have never thought to call me without asking first and how she'll never do it again.

And I was like "No no I swear I don't mind at all! Please call me whenever you want, I'm serious."

And she said "Thank you for being so kind to me, baby I really appreciate it."

Like...you're my grandma, why wouldn't I be kind?? Who has been yelling at you for calling them? Tell them to turn on their location, I just wanna talk.
