one thing I'll never let anyone forget is that Bones did not include this scene of Higuchi rescuing Akutagawa after Atsushi absolutely destroyed him in the anime đ and with the injuries he suffered I am so sad we didn't see the immediate aftermath of this...he's either coughing up water and blood and in so much pain that he can barely move or he's completely unconcious and comatose already and Higuchi can't wake him up, she is in absolute go mode to get him medical attention before it's too late, but she's so worried that she's crying the whole time and beating herself up for not being there as backup ughhhđđđ

Okay, maybe Iâll get roasted for this, but I still have to tell the truth: I canât stand Dr. Hiriluk. First of all, because he believes that the âdo not harmâ principle does not apply to him, but letâs start from the beginning.
Robbery and arson are strange signs that a good guy has come into your house, but mmkay, maybe heâs like Robin Hood - stealing from the rich to heal the poor, like that. Thereâs also the apocryphal Hippocratic oath, where there is a phrase "may the gods curse the one who heals for free".
Wait, whatâs an all-purpose drug? Is it like an all-purpose cleaner?
Take this pill of rabbit's dung, Â
It's been really well done! Â
It's much healthier than honey Â
Though it doesn't taste so fine. Â
And although it isn't sweet, Â
And some people die from it, Â
Those who manage to survive Â
Live a long and healthy life!
Come again? He was testing his drug on people without even knowing how to administer it? Did he know the dosage? He didn't even know what kind of disease the patient had. If he wanted to help him, he could have just left the syringe with the family.
Maybe the drug should've been administered via an enema? For some reason he didn't want to try it on himself, I wonder why.
Annnnnnd... It was the last time we saw this family or heard about it. Hiriluk wasnât shown to subsequently wonder what happened to them or try to make amends, so the father's ultimate fate remains unknown. Looks like the anime makers also thought it was kinda wrong.
But, as far as I remember, they didnât change this scene.
What Kureha said doesnât mean âabout a hundred peopleâ, itâs ä˝çžäşş, hundreds of people. I honestly donât know what else to say.
But when he meets Chopper later in this chapter, Hiriluk will do a really noble and brave deed, I mean it sincerely.
Whyyy did he feel the need to ruin everything after such an inspiring scene?
Why is he like that with his friend? What did Chopper do wrong to him?
He doesn't even deny that Chopper could've died. I always crack up at how they reconciled after fight, but Hiriluk never apologized, this is a special kind of funny XD
But still, after this incident, Chopper was truly happy during the year he was Hirilukâs accomplice apprentice.
I can hardly say what's going on in this frame, but Chopper seems to have returned the sentiment. In fairness, the guards here are still far from them, and Chopper couldâve turned into his giant form and throw Hiriluk far, far away, just like he did to him. A good joke is funny on any day...
But still they could only be together for one year.
Itâs a heartbreaking scene, I don't feel like blaming Hiriluk, because it caused him a great deal of pain... But wouldn't it be more sparing to prevent Chopper from becoming too attached and keep him at a distance from the start than to painfully tear him off later on?
It amazes me how Kureha is worried about how Chopper will feel, but doesn't understand that if his only friend in the world suddenly hates him and drives him away like everyone else has done before (and breaks his promise to never ever shoot at him, btw), it will cause him much more serious trauma.Â
The same thing happened later in One Piece Film: Red when Shanks took the blame for destroying the island in order to save Uta from guilt and left her. Did he really think that it would be easier for her to survive that her closest person in the whole world massacred the population of an entire island, and then betrayed and abandoned her?
Anyway...
Because of all of this, this motivational speech makes me think âWow, this guy really has a nerve, I even envy that confidenceâ. In Chopperâs case, people were saving their lives (at least, so they thought). In Hirilukâs case, it was basically the same.
Interestingly, people didnât resent him...
...They'd think twice before saying this if they knew what Hiriluk would do to them if they stood in his way (just stood, in the literal sense of the word).

Chapter Nineteen: You Know Where to Find Me
Notes:
Hii everyone!! I hope you're having a lovely tuesday <33 This chapter includes the brilliant Jen from She-Hulk! There's very minor spoilers for the series if you haven't had a chance to watch it yet (you absolutely should, it's so good!) but I mostly wanted to say that we're sticking to all the canon of the show, except for her and Matt being a couple. They're cute, but unfortunately for canon, Matt and Foggy are cuter :D
Sneak peek:
Peter has only been sitting in a cell for twenty-two hours and he already regrets his decision.
He's made the right choice â he would sacrifice himself a thousand times to save his friends â but he didn't realise how boring prison would be. All the movies make it look dangerous and exciting, but when you're the only superhero in a block of cells designed for enhanced people, there isn't anyone to chat to.
If there wasn't a power dampening collar around his neck, he would literally be climbing the walls by now.
Peter will be the first to admit that he's never been the best at sitting with his thoughts for extended periods of time. But after explaining the plot and production history of all twelve Star Wars films to a brick wall, he's losing his mind.
When the metal door at the end of the corridor screeches open and Matt steps through, relief courses through him.
"Mr. Murdock!" he exclaims, walking up to the reinforced glass at the front of his cell. "I'm so happy you're here. I'm so bored."
Matt chuckles, but his expression quickly turns serious. "Are you alright?"
Peter sits down on the edge of his metal bunk. "I'm fine. They took the suit, but only a handful of people know my identity. The food's kinda gross."
"They've announced a trial date for you," Matt says, dragging a plastic chair over and taking a seat. "Monday."
Time has lost all meaning for him, but... "That's less than a week away!"
Matt folds up his cane. "I know. I imagine it's not the only thing they'll rig against you, but Foggy and Karen and I are doing everything we can to help."
"I know," Peter says. Foggy must be somewhere important if he isn't here with Matt, because the two are attached at the hip.
"Your friends are helping as well," Matt adds. "MJ has set up a campaign, and she has someone else your age financing the whole thing. He even offered to pay us."
"Ned?" Peter guesses. He has no idea how much a lawyer costs, but he's pretty sure Ned doesn't have that kind of money. The only thing he saves for is buying new LEGO sets.
"I believe his name was something ridiculous, like Flash," Matt says.
Peter groans. Of course Flash is inserting himself in this whole catastrophe. After finding out that his hero and the nerd he bullied were one and the same, he'd been insufferable. How on Earth he'd published his book so quickly is beyond him.
"I don't have much time," Matt says. "I need you to tell me every detail of what happened with Mysterio, if that's okay."
"I've been thinking about it, but I can't figure out the hole in his plan," Peter says. "The guy was clever. Even though he lost, he still managed to get his revenge."
"We're smarter. All we need is one piece of evidence, and the entire case starts to unravel." Matt rifles through his bag, pulling out a sheaf of papers covered in braille and a small recording device. "Remember, this is confidential. You need to tell me everything, even if it paints you in a bad light."
Matt insists on talking him through the entire school trip twice, including all the embarrassing moments. Peter lies a few times to omit MJ and Ned from the story, but tells Matt every other detail that he can remember.
"One more time," Matt says, pressing the button on his recording device again.
"Do we have to?" Peter groans. "There's nothing new to say." And he'd rather not keep relieving one of the worst few weeks of his life.
Matt lowers his voice. "Peter, I can tell when you're lying."
"What?"
"So either tell me what really happened, or we can sit here in silence until someone throws me out."
Peter swallows. He trusts Matt, and he understands why he's frustrated that he isn't telling him the whole truth. But how does he begin to explain what really happened? 'Oh, sorry for lying to you, but you see, Mysterio revealed my identity and then I nearly broke the multiverse. By the way, we've met before.'
Matt folds his arms and Peter sighs.

Is it just me or is Twice's death entirely pointless now.
Twice's death serves three narrative purposes:
Showing the bond of the league by demonstrating how much Twice was willing to sacrifice for the sake of his friends, even refusing a hero's help if it meant abandoning the rest of the league.
Showing how the older generation of heroes fail to save the villains by Hawks wrongheaded approach, saving twice just because he's a good guy is just repeating the cycle of heroes picking and choosing who to save which Twice criticized in his first backstory chapter.
Catalyzes the long foreshadowed downfall / icarus girlbossing to close to the son of hawks. Hawks as a morally ambiguous figure was foreshadowed to either cross into full villain territory, or be called out for his actions. At which point he'd have to reform or atone for the death of Twice or likely die.
Number one, Twice's sacrifice is pointless. The man who gave up his life wishing for the rest of his friends to live died a meaningless death now that Toga, Spinner, Kurogiri and Shigaraki are all most likely dead, with Comrpess in super jail and Dabi teetering on the edge.
Number two, we assumed that Twice would be the only member of the league or villains to die. After seeing the failure of the adult heroes broadcast on live TV, the kid heroes would call out Hawks actions and try to find another, better way to save them. None of the kids even talked about Hawks. Toga and Uraraka never had to discuss the fact that one of Togas friends was killed in cold blood and that's why she doesn't trust uraraka because she thinks the heroes will put her down just like they did Twice. Toga even commits suicide because she thinks death is a better option than super jail for the rest of her life
Shoto had a plan though, so good for him.
The third one is also entirely pointless as listed above no one ever questioned Hawks. Hawks got to lead the entire hero effort against AFO and got several hero moments. Post twices death Hawks is basically presented like an uncomplicated selfless hero and leader figure to the point where Twice's death may as not have happened. When he was annd he was presented with the return of Jin by Toga using the dead man's parade he immediately called for all the heroes around her to kill her indicating he didn't learn his lesson one bit and would have done the exact same thing in the situation.
I guess Twice died for literally nothing I guess because the none of the heroes (except for my boy shoto) actually bothered to learn from Hawk's mistake.
"Even though I reached into his heart and smashed his hatred, Tenko was the leader of the League Of Villains to the very end."
This is weird because it's like. Was Deku expecting Shigaraki/Tenko to ditch the League the moment his 'hatred was smashed'? He thinks it's a bad thing that Shigaraki/Tenko didn't renounce the League? Hatred = League Of Villains, and that's the only meaning they had, despite Shigaraki saying out loud wanting to do something one of his teammates would look forward to, despite Shigaraki wanting to be their Hero. Has Deku ever listen to a single word Shigaraki has ever said?
Deku's confused about why Shigaraki/Tenko stayed loyal to his friends?

I'm on break.
Some of you may have noticed that I have been inactive for the past week or two, save for replies on comments and reblogs. I have mentioned before that I have a full time job as a retail manager. I want to stress that when I am active (posting every day, twice a day), I do nothing else with my time other than working and writing. I mean that entirely literally. I work from 3 pm - 10 pm, and during those times, I write in the mornings and afternoons before work, and then again in the evenings after work. On my days off, which vary between one and three, writing is all I do. That being said, it quickly becomes very hard to keep up this routine, as I don't usually find time for myself or people in my life.
I don't ever plan to simply leave and stop posting all together, but I may decide to be more selective about the asks I fill, and post less frequently. I have a deep passion for writing on this platform, and the happiness I get from you guys and your feedback is unmatched, but the last thing I want is for my hobby for become a job (especially one I don't get paid for). That's the best way to make me resent what I do, and nobody wants that.
I want to express my gratitude for all the continuous love and support over the last eight or so months. I never thought I could reach the follower count that I have now and I'm so flattered that so many people care what I have to say. Secondly, I want to apologize for only just now making an official post for my hiatus, save for a few replies. It wasn't cool of me to just ghost my account like that, and I'm sorry.
Updates
The 600 follower special is now going to be a 1k special, and, despite what feedback you've been giving, I'm leaning toward a ST theme for it, mostly for the fact that I have more followers from that side of my page. I do still plan to do something nice for my TMNT fans, it may just not be quite as big. I had thought maybe a peak into a possibility of the direction 'Your Obedient Servant' could go in, or maybe some sort of separate oneshot placed in that universe.
The Gareth x Munson!Reader series will be concluded in part three, so please try not to ask for a fourth part, as I will not be continuing it further. I may be open to other oneshots that take place in that same story line, (ect: Gareth taking you to prom and having to pick you up from Wayne's trailer) but let's get through the main story first!
I have a series of ST HCs in the works, exactly like the ones I did for Jonathan, he was actually the first installment of that series. Next should be Steve, as I've already got half of his done.
'Your Obedient Servant' is on a separate hiatus. Admittedly, I rushed into it, and I'm not at all proud of how either chapter have turned out. I have a vision for it, but I want to make sure the story line doesn't deviate, as well ensure that every installment has the level of quality I've come to expect of myself.
I think that's about it! Thank you for taking the time to let me be honest and update you guys on what's going on in my life!

BnHA Chapter 306: the beginning of the WHAT
Previously on BnHA: Nana and the Gang were all, âhey Deku, we can read your thoughts and feelings so we should already know the answer to this, but for some reason we want to quiz you on whether or not youâd be down to kill Shigaraki Tomura.â Deku was all, âum okay, well tbh, probably not seeing as Saving People has been my entire thing since literally the start of the series.â The Vestiges were all, âyes that makes perfect sense and again we already knew that, but well, good for you buddy and Iâm glad we had this talk. Anyway I guess we should ask these two cryptic fuckers in the corner to finally turn around now before we run out of -- â and then the chapter ended. Because OF COURSE IT DID.
Today on BnHA: Horikoshi is all âYOU DONâT NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, WOULDNâT IT BE SO MUCH BETTER IF I GAVE YOU A CONFUSING CHAPTER WHERE EVERYONE FINALLY LEARNS ABOUT OFA, AND GOES BACK TO THE DORMS, AND THEN THE CHAPTER ENDS WITH DEPRESSED NOMAD DEKU STANDING ON A PRECIPICE WITH GRAN TORINOâS TATTERED CAPE FLOWING IN THE WIND.â Everyone is all, â???????????â Horikoshi is all, âalso the parents are moving to the U.A. campus, and Jeanistâs neck is two and a half feet long, for everyone that was wondering.â Everyone is all, âWHERE ARE KACCHAN AND TODOROKI AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHO ARE THE SECOND AND THIRD USERSâ, and Horikoshi is all, â:)â and fades away into nothingness like the fucking fae he is. Like a fucking imp whoâs kept his end of the cursed bargain. What, the, fuck.
okay guys, so after the longest Thursday of my fucking life, during which I was secretly hoping that my spoiler containment net would be somehow be breached, inadvertently exposing me to theta spoiler radiation, so that I could be all âoh no... spoilers... thereâs nothing I can do... I have no choice but to lookâ (which sadly did not happen), it is finally Friday and the chapter is finally out. so Iâve got my clown kit at the ready and other self-deprecating memes on standby, and Iâm ready to go. and I should note that Iâm also ready for Horikoshi to pull some absolute bullshit and be like, âoh you know what, we havenât checked in with Rat Principal in a while have weâ and spend the entire chapter on nonsense like that. IâM READY FOR FUCKING ANYTHING so bring it
(ETA: it would be nice if this man wouldnât call my bluff every now and again.)
oh, right, we were due a color page! wow look at this
isnât this supposed to be the future?? whatâs with all of these staticky CRT TVs
anyway, so! is this the first time weâve seen Tomuraâs stylish finger prosthetic glove thingy in color?? because I didnât expect it to be red. also, at some point you just have to give in and change your pants into cutoffs or something, Tomura. start a new trend of stylish villain capris
meanwhile Deku is dressed like heâs going on a journey into the desert to find a mystical oasis. actually this cape looks a lot like Gran Torinoâs. I have to go back and see if Granâs is all raggedy like this
(ETA: it wasnât before but APPARENTLY IT IS NOW. I also forgot that Horikoshi had showed it sitting on a side table in the hospital a few chapters ago.)
lastly, AFO looks like someoneâs thumb after theyâve been washing dishes for twenty minutes. you are just the ugliest dude in history, and as always, fuck you
HAHAHA SOB I KNEW IT
oh, Twowy McTwoface is finally starting to turn around? better CUT BACK TO DEKUâS HOSPITAL ROOM THEN. wouldnât want to accidentally ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS or SOLVE ANY MYSTERIES, god forbid
well, whatever. whatever!! anyway so now someoneâs knocking at the door. I say âsomeoneâ but we all know itâs Hawks
yep
they were actually standing outside the door for a while hoping theyâd overhear another juicy plot conversation, but no such luck this time
lmaooo Jeanist wtf
acting all embarrassed, but youâre really just as curious as Hawks is. making him do all the dirty work for you huh
ARE YOU SERIOUS THIS IS AN INJUSTICE
so like two seconds after Katsuki gets dragged away you open the door for the rest of them!! well, fine!! I really want it to be a more private/personal moment between the two of them anyway so let the other kids check in on Deku first then
and in the meantime, time to see Hawks put the thumbscrews to All Mightâs resolve lol
I wonder how much of it Hawks has already put together in the last five minutes. One for All is something connected to All for One that Tomura seems to want. Tomura was apparently targeting Deku. thatâs more than enough to make a few deductions right there. I wonder how much Hawks knows about Dekuâs quirk. he did watch the sports festival, and he ran into the kids interning under Endeavor that one time
okay well maybe he hasnât put the rest of it together just yet, but Hawks is making a pretty reasonable pitch here to All Might
also this is a pretty spectacular view. is this a hospital or a hotel??
AHLKJLKJLKJ ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO TELL THEM
OH MY GOD HE IS?!?!
JUST LIKE WE ALL EXPECTED, THE NEXT TWO PEOPLE TO LEARN THE TRUTH ABOUT OFA ARE GOING TO BE HAWKS, AND BEST FUCKING JEANIST
-- LFKLKKLDK ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS. ARE YOU --
( â˘Ě_â˘Ě )
[sitting cross-legged on the ground pulling up little clumps of grass and letting them fall from my fingers one by one] yeah. sure. okay. fine. sure
-- OKAY, NO. NUH-UH. NO
everybody better hold tight cuz Iâm about to pick up this whole chapter and yeet it into the ocean like a fucking frisbee lol
HORIKOSHI I DONâT CARE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE SITTING HERE WATCHING TV WTF
-- OH
well okay then. proceed. though lord help me if theyâre about to reveal the secret of OFA to the whole fucking world skdkj
oh snap
well, there it is. pretty much what I expected, but itâs good to actually get to see this moment with him taking responsibility
though at the same time, thank you Horikoshi for not forcing us to sit through the rest of that
their fucking faces omg. okay but seriously, what nation doesnât secretly love a good scandal
the Endeavor Pamphlets, part two. thank you for giving the country something to opine about on twitter in these trying times, Enji
so now theyâre asking about Hawks and Jeanist but I cannot even focus on anything all of a sudden because what?!
is Jeanist even a real actual human being you guys?! are we sure heâs not three kids sitting on each otherâs shoulders?? are you related to that one guy with the really long neck from the Jedi Council?? are you Orochimaru, bro??
so now Hawks is apologizing for the murder of Twice, and for hiding the connection with his dad
the fact that he has to give this serious formal apology and beg forgiveness for the shameful crime of Having An Abusive Father is really something else, though. just. itâs realistic, but I still hate it
moving on now to the one thing he actually does owe the public an explanation for
not to go all âHawks did nothing wrongâ on you guys yet again, but seriously. 100% facts. fandom can (and no doubt will) debate this until the end of time, but if Twice had gotten away they wouldnât be having this press conference right now because there wouldnât be any heroes left to give one. anyways though, Iâve already said more than enough about that in previous posts
so now some severe-looking lady with the weirdest fingers Iâve ever seen is saying that her mother was injured during Machiaâs rampage
and sheâs basically all âa fuck lot of good âIâm sorryâ does us all about now.â true true
wow sheâs really getting fired up
and now Enji is basically saying that he understands that an apology isnât enough, and what they really need now are solutions. okay, well! SO THEN WHAT IS THE PLAN THEN
hmmfsdgh
this eloquent PEZ dispenser makes a good point you guys
wait, hold up
CERTAIN citizens?? um excuse me, what??
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shit
holy shit. well, this will go over well
okay! so this tells me a number of things, though
basically the minute that Hawks learned about One for All, he realized that anyone connected to Deku (e.g. Inko) would be a target for AFO. AFO wants OFA, meaning AFO wants Deku, and one of the easiest ways to get to Deku would be to target his family
Hawks therefore realized that Inko needed to be placed into protective custody
but the fact that ALL of the hero course studentsâ families (and is it only the U.A. hero course, or all of the hero course students across the country?) are being given protection tells me that Hawks and co. donât want to single Deku out as being important. so then it looks like theyâre not going to tell everyone about OFA (or at least not the public. which, good). so rather than drawing suspicion by saying âweâve got to protect everyone connected with this one kidâ, theyâre making it seem like all the U.A. kidsâ families are getting this treatment
but since the heroes are now spread so thin, they canât just send a protective detail to each and every family, so theyâre bringing all of the families to the same place instead to better keep an eye on them
so thatâs all well and good, and a very smart move. except that idk how all of this is going to go over with the general public, all of whom are probably feeling unsafe at the moment, and who will probably see this as preferential treatment -- basically just the heroes looking after their own and leaving everyone else to fend for themselves
(ETA: okay so @hanashimasââ translation clarifies that U.A. is offering their services as an evacuation shelter for everyone who wants it, not just the families of the U.A. students. thatâs much more appropriate so I withdraw my previous âwtfâ reaction lol.)
anyway though hereâs Mitsuki and Inko
can we take this as confirmation that the two of them really are friends? thatâs one piece of fanon that Iâve always hoped was true, so Iâm gonna go ahead and say itâs confirmed
(ETA: also this means that Hagakureâs parents (or maybe âparentsâ in quotation marks) will supposedly be moving in as well. sure am curious as to how thatâs going to go.)
now someone in the press crowd is asking whether U.A. can provide adequate security, which is honestly the LAST thing I expected these people would be outraged about lol. shows what I know I guess
(ETA: again though, this makes sense if the âcertain civiliansâ thing was just a translation error.)
LMAO DAMMIT ENJI
YOU CANâT JUST ALWAYS PULL THE âJUST WATCH MEâ TRICK AND EXPECT IT TO SHUT DOWN THE CONVERSATION EVERY DAMN TIME YOU ASSHOLE
-- OH MY GODÂ RED ALERT
TIME TO ANALYZE THIS BECAUSE OMG
WASH CANâT BELIEVE HIS FAMILY GROUP CHAT IS STILL SENDING HIM FUCKING MEMES AT A TIME LIKE THIS. HE DOESNâT GIVE A FUCK IF THE DABI DANCE IS TRENDING ON TIKTOK, MOM!!
FOR A MINUTE I THOUGHT MT. LADY WAS HOLDING MIDNIGHTâS TORN-UP MASK, AND BY THE TIME I REALIZED THATâS ACTUALLY HER MASK AND NOT MIDNIGHTâS, I HAD ALREADY CONSTRUCTED AN ELABORATE HEADCANON IN WHICH MT. LADY AND MIDNIGHT WERE SECRETLY DATING BUT HADNâT COME OUT TO ANYONE YET, AND THEN TRAGEDY STRUCK, AND NOW MT. LADY IS GETTING READY TO SET OUT TO SEEK VENGEANCE. AND WELL, NOW THAT THIS HEADCANON EXISTS IN THE WORLD, IâM NOT SURE IF IâM READY TO GET RID OF IT
MIRKO HAS GOTTEN HERSELF A PROSTHETIC (ROBOT??!) ARM, NOTHING ELSE THATâS HAPPENING IN THIS CHAPTER IS EVEN SLIGHTLY IMPORTANT!!! HELLO!!!!!
AIZAWA WITH THE EYEPATCH GOOD LORD. THE WORLD ISNâT READY. HE LOOKS LIKE HE HASNâT SLEPT IN NINETY-EIGHT YEARS, BUT SOMEHOW HE MAKES IT INTO THE HOTTEST THING EVER AS PER USUAL
WHO THE FUCK IS THIS FUCKING GUY. ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW HIM? IS THIS KAMUI?? WAS THAT THING WHICH I ALWAYS ASSUMED WAS HIS HAIR ACTUALLY A HELMET OR SOMETHING WHAT
LOL AND MEANWHILE
you tell me, Dabi! werenât you the one who said that wouldnât be enough to kill him? what even is your endgame here. Iâm starting to worry about the villain brain cell supply you guys. I feel like Compress took most of them with him when he left
OH??
âwhen asked about One for All, Endeavor fucking lied through his teeth.â well, well, well

OCHAKOâS HAND IS SHAKING OH MY GOD
THEREâS YOUR KAMINARI, EVERYONE!!
RHAâS SCANLATION TEAM REALLY THREW DEKUâS HANDWRITING UNDER THE BUS HERE HUH
HE TOLD EVERYONE!?
WHY THE FUCK IS HE WRITING IT AS A LETTER
(ETA: 9. also if he really wrote every kid in his class then that means the U.A. traitor -- or Hagakure as we like to call her around these parts -- also knows about OFA, and knows that Deku has run the fuck off and isnât at U.A. anymore. so thatâs just great!)
OH HELL NO
the hell does that mean, you must leave. leave to go where. son you are not up and leaving to go power up and lead us all into a timeskip. and I swear to GOD, if you left Kacchan too...!!
MY GOD I CANâT PROPERLY ABSORB ALL OF THESE OCHAKO FEELS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IâM TOO TERRIFIED TO SCROLL TO THE LAST FUCKING PAGE, FUCK
I JUST GOTTA DO IT. I JUST GOTTA SUCK IT UP AND DO IT. FUCK
FUCK
WHAT. THE. FUCK
yâall Iâm not even gonna waste your time with more keysmashing, JUST ASSUME THAT I AM DOING IT NONSTOP, FOREVER. and letâs just jump RIGHT IN HERE
okay so here I thought that All Might and co. had taken him away somewhere to train, but that is CLEARLY not whatâs going on here. this kid is standing here in his Apocalypse Aesthetic hero costume which has CLEARLY seen better days, with Gran Torinoâs cloak (GUESS THAT EXPLAINS THAT, THEN?? SO DID GRAN FUCKING DIE EXCUSE ME WTF), and a fucking backpack. this little green idiot has RUN AWAY FROM HOME. this is the absolute LAST THING ON EARTH I ever expected to happen so PARDON ME WHILE I SCREAM CONFUSEDLY INTO THE VOID
he does not look okay. you guys he doesnât look okay at ALL. he has NEVER looked like this. this isnât just a âIâm sad because Iâm leaving all my friends behindâ kind of look on his face, or even just a âGran Torino died maybe and Iâm still having emotions over itâ look. this is an EXHAUSTED, dead look in his eyes. something terrible has happened
WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR ARMS DEKU. THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING DOWN WITH YOUR ARMS GODDAMMIT
love how this random building is just straight up collapsing, like thatâs just a normal thing that happens every day now. lovely
APRIL MEANS ITâS NOW FULL ON SCHEDULED ALL-MIGHT-DYING-HOURS, BUT LETâS COMPLETELY IGNORE THAT THOUGH BECAUSE FUCK THAT NOISE
âTHE SECOND USER? WHO KNOWS? CERTAINLY NOT MEâ HORIKOSHI I SWEAR TO GOD
âBAKUGOU? NEVER HEARD OF HIM!â HORIKOSHI PLEASE
WHERE. IS. KACCHAN
did he go with Deku?? did he get a chance to talk to him before he left?? did he get his own private letter which he read and then promptly blew up in a fit of panicked rage?? is he going to go after him?? DOES HORIKOSHI KNOW WHAT HEâS DOING TO ME RIGHT NOW?? OF COURSE HE DOES, DONâT BOTHER ANSWERING THAT
omg. though actually the fact that weâve already jumped a few weeks forward makes me hopeful that there wonât actually be another timeskip, or at least not much of one. Iâm sure thatâll be the big debate of the week, but I donât think we can jump too far forward here. for starters because of that All Might prophecy I mentioned. and also because TomurAFO isnât just going to wait around for months. and also because Iâm 100% sure that Dekuâs running-away backpack is just filled ENTIRELY WITH NOTEBOOKS and this asshole cannot possibly survive more than 3 days on his own. UNLESS SOMEONE COMES TO HELP HIM THAT IS. OR SOMEONES, EVEN. OMG. omg omg omg. fuck this chapter lmao

Recently, I'm seeing a rise in the most awful misinterpretations of some characters in Six of Crows, so I'm gonna address how wrong they are.
Before I start: if you haven't said any of what I'm going to mention here, then it means I'm not pointing fingers at you. Don't take offense for something you didn't do.
Now I'm gonna try to keep it as short as possible...
Part 1
"I don't think Inej loves Kaz." "Inej doesn't love Kaz as much as he does her." "Inej is ignorant." bla bla bla...
A cousin of mine (15 yo) read the books and said the same things as above.
I asked her what does love mean to her and she responded it meant "two people showing their emotions by acts like kisses, cuddles, etc." and "by being together with that person by the end of the story".
Obviously, that's not all to love. Younger audiences tend to not take note of the faint nuances the same way grownups do. Its just like watching disney movies and only later realising the ambiguous meanings in certain dialogues. But we can't simply say that age plays a major factor here.
While SoC is a YA novel and aimed for age groups 13-17 mostly, many adults enjoy the books.
I myself read the books this year (23 yo) and my perception of love is different from my cousin's. Love isn't simply an emotion or feeling or gestures. LOVE IS WORK. It requires both the parties involved to put in equal effort.
And so, when Inej says "I will have you without armor." , she isn't being ignorant at all. She does mean it in the literal sense. But also more than that. Inej is an honest person and says whats on her mind freely. She expects the same honesty in return. She says this dialogue because while Kaz seems to know a good amount about herâ her full real name, how she was taken to Ketterdam and sold to Tante Heleen, etc. Inej knows nothing about him, not even his real name. The first thing she learns about him is that he had a brother and a vague "i had a lot of things."
And even with things Kaz doesn't know about her, she's ready to share. She tells him that it was easy for her to entirely dissociate when seeing her clients but she couldn't do it with one guy, the guy who'd seen her perform on the high wire as a kid. She shares this deep, awful experience with him and says its not easy for her either. In doing so, being honest about her past, she encourages him to take a step as well. To try and be a little honest about himself, share a small part of himself. She wants him to put some effort into their relationship because a simple "i want you" isn't enough. They both need to work on a lot of things to reach that "i want you". SHE ISN'T IGNORANT.
Later on, Inej realises, she can't ask so much honesty of Kaz because that one bathroom scene is an eye opener for both of them. She realises that she may have handled that kiss on the neck but what if she couldn't have? What if she had dissociated on instinct, as her defense mechanism? What if? Kaz adds to all that when he tells her to take the money and leave, forget him. But does she do that? NO. She thinks whether it would be better for her to find a kind man, bear his children and then sharpen her knives at night. And she realizes she doesn't want that because she can only be her true self (a kind woman who wields knives) with Kaz. She can only be her genuine self with Kaz. She thinks "he'd tried, they'd tried. They could try again." She wants to try again with Kaz. SHE WANTS HIM JUST AS MUCH.
Now for a moment, lets consider the other female character in SoCâ Nina Zenik. We all call her an "Unapologetic Queen" for being herself, being proud of her body proportions and such. But if Nina was a woman of color, would she get the same hype? Don't say "Yes" because we know that won't be the case. Nina wouldnât get the same hype for her plus sized representation if she was a poc.
And this, I'm speaking as a Desi. I know what I face in real life from people of other cultures. I've experienced a lot of stereotypes about myself as a South Asian woc. And while not everyone treats me the same, I do encounter alot of obvious stereotypical assumptions about myself.
Similarly, so many people when they read the "I will have you without armor" dialogue, completely stop looking further into Inej. Age factor is very miniscule. Most of this, whether you like it or not, stems from the internalized stereotype that "brown girls are mean and insensitive". Thats how we've typically seen them portrayed in majority of media and that's where many readers' thoughts immediately head to when they read the "without armor" dialogue. Those of you who say the quoted things mentioned at the top, don't bother to look as deeply into Inej's perspective as you do for Kaz or Nina or the others. You simply settle for calling her ignorant.
Did you ever give her more thought instead of reducing her to the stereotypical brown girl?
Did you ever consider that this girl has her own demons? That this girl was captured forcefully and sold into prostitution at 14!? That this girl sometimes even gets scared of touches from her own friends? That this girl finds it harder to handle contact that she doesn't see coming? That she suffered abuse and was rewarded with kindness by the same hands that touched her at the Menagerie!? That at some point she just fearfully anticipated for whatever was to come, be it a gentle caress or a harsh slap across her cheek? That this girl was raped again and again and again every single day when she was only 14? That she was violated and touched in places too private without her consent? That she was continuously treated so by men twice, thrice, even four times her age!?
Did you ever consider that this girl who struggles with so much didn't let her suffering define her!? That she rises above these atrocities and finds a purpose!? That she chooses to pursue her own goals and save any other kids from whatever horrid things she went through!?
Did you ever consider that despite everything this girl suffered at the hands of innumerable people, she wants to try again with Kaz?
For a girl like her to let Kaz kiss her neck completely unguarded (she doesn't have her knives with her in that scene)..to still be able to give her heart to Kaz, is a very beautiful thing. It means she trusts him so much more than she'll ever trust any other person..
Everyone expresses themselves in different ways. Thats what makes each human so unique. Just because Inej isn't saying poetic things in her pov chapters, doesn't mean she loves Kaz any less.
Inej Ghafa loves Kaz Brekker. And she always will. But her love doesn't mean she must give up on her own purpose. Kaz doesn't ask her to. And she doesn't ask Kaz to give up his position as the new King of the Barrel. They're equals who support each other in their goals. They're two people in love who will take their baby steps towards healing together.
Inej and Kaz love each other.
Inej and Kaz are together.
Inej isn't ignorant, just misread.
Rant over for now. Next I'll be talking about Matthias Helvar..:)

Going Angst Week 2021: Birth
I wrote a short five part fic for this yearâs Going Angst Week! Fair warning as the event suggests, no one in this fic will make it out on top.
Chapter One: Birth
---
âDonât think of it as a death, think of it as a sort of rebirth.â
Thatâs what Vlad had told him anyhow, after he discovered whoâor rather whatâDanny was at their college reunion.Â
âWho were you before this? A nobody, right? Just some little hormonal fourteen year old from the weirdo family, unpopular and bullied. No real hobbies or activities to speak of, aside fromâŚâ Vladâs red eyes pierced down at him. âVideo games, am I correct?â
Danny diverted his gaze to the floor. Vladâs aura only increased in amusement.
âBut now,â the ghost continued. âNow youâre something else. Something different, more powerful. The world is your oyster, and all you have to do is reach down and take it.â
âI donât know,â Danny finally spoke up. He had been hoping that speaking to the older halfa would begin to patch things up between them, but so far every word out of Vladâs mouth seemed coated in poison.
He knew that deep down he shouldnât trust a damn word Plasmius said, but Vlad was the only person in the world who he could relate to. And according to the Vlad, there was no one else like them in the Ghost Zone either.
âWhat is there to be afraid of, Little Badger? Youâre a half ghost, you can do whatever it is that you want and nobody, nobody can stop you.â
âItâs not that Iâm afraid.â Lies, lies, all lies. âIt just doesnât seem right, is all.â
Plasmius leaned down, forcing Dannyâs eyes to meet his. He grinned, bearing his fangs at the boy, as if he could see through all the fear that Danny was desperate to mask.
âOh Daniel,â Vlad said. âYour parents will never accept you. No good you do in your ghost form could ever convince them that ghosts arenât all evil, that some are good, that you are good. Donât you see?â
âNo, youâre wrong. My parents will accept me. I just have toââ
âOh, will they?â Vlad laughed. âYour parents? The same ones whoâve dedicated their careers, their lives to developing ecto-weaponry meant to kill our kind? The people who have written countless academic papers as to the dangers of ecto-life on Earth?â
âIf I can show them that weâre not all bad, then maybe theyâll see.â
âAh, so I bet that explains why you havenât told them about what really happened in the lab, right? You just wanted to wait for the âright timeâ to tell them. Foolish boy, donât you know?â Vladâs cocky tone died down, as did the power of his aura. In the first moment of sincerity Danny had witnessed from the older man, he turned to Danny and warned, âYour parents are too blinded by their ignorance to ever see the truth.â
---
Danny had been alone the day of the accident. He wasnât sure why he did it, why he strapped on the hazmat suit (not before ripping off the Jack sticker), why he stepped in the portal, why he tried to figure out how to turn it on. Was it boredom? Teenage rebellion? Curiosity?
But delving into his reasoning was too little too late. Because the moment he tripped over the wire and hit the misplaced power switch, his life ended.
Literally.
Dying hurt. It was terrifying, waking up as something else entirely, and passing out all over again.
At first, he could almost pretend that he was okay. But then he woke up the next morning and felt like heâd been hit by a truck.
And then he fell through his bed, hitting the wood floor below his bed frame.
And then he dragged himself out and saw the extensive scarring on his arm.
And then he knew. That what had happened in the lab wasnât just a fluke, that whatever the portal did had changed him forever.
That he wasnât okay.
Still, he tried to carry on as normal. Eventually, the lightning scars snaking across his arm faded (even though they remained when he transformed), and the aching of his muscles subsided (but the coolness in his chest never went away), and his relative anonymity at his school meant that people hardly noticed a change in him (even though his two best friends seemed to hover more now than before).
Everything was going to be normal. Even if he wasnât okay anymore. Even if he wasnât human, even if he was...some monster.
What even was he?
âDanny?â Sam poked his shoulder. âHey, space case? You havenât touched your food. Are you okay?â
The world snapped into focus, and he realized that he was in the cafeteria at school with his untouched lunch tray splayed out in front of him. He couldnât even remember getting out of bed this morning, much less making it all the way till lunch.
Regardless, he picked the cardboard excuse for pizza from his tray and took a bite, chewing slowly, and tried not to choke as he forced the food down his parched throat.
âIâm fine,â he said.
Heâd been saying that a lot lately.
âWeâve been trying not to pry, butâŚâ Sam looked helplessly at Tucker. âDanny, is...is something going on with you? Youâve just seemed off lately.â
âNo, nothing happened. Iâm fine.â
âYou sure dude?â Tucker asked.
Danny set his school-issued pizza back down on his tray. âGuys, seriously. Iâm your best friend. If anything happened, I promise youâd be the first to know. Iâve just been stressed about school, itâs nothing.â
Sam and Tucker exchanged a glance, evidently not looking too convinced. Regardless, Sam gave him her best fake smile and a, âIf you say so. Just know weâre here if you wanna talk.â
But he didnât want to talk. They were human, he...wasnât. They wouldnât get it. Theyâd think he was a freak, theyâd stop talking to him, theyâd tell Jazz who would tell his parents who would kill him trying to save him.
No one could help him.
They finished lunch in silence, and then it was back to class where Danny managed to fall out of his chair twice and drop his pencil too many times to count. In biology class a glass microscope plate flew past his fingers, shattering against the tiled floor, and in English class when Lancer handed him papers to pass out he dropped those too, sending them scattered along the ground.
He saw the way Lancer peered at him as he stumbled to the ground, hands shaking as he desperately tried to grab the papers while everyone laughed at him. He felt coldâhe was always cold since the accidentâand he was sure that he looked just as much of a mess as he felt.
Mr. Lancer sent him down to the nurses office after that.
But he couldnât go to the nurse because his heart rate was slower than a humanâs and he didnât need to breathe as much and he was so cold.
And he was fine.
So he took the hall pass and hid in the bathroom for the rest of the class period.
âThink of it as a rebirth,â Vlad had told him.Â
Except Vlad was wrong. Danny wasnât stronger now, he wasnât more powerful. In fact, Danny Fenton had never felt more powerless, lost, and alone in his entire life.
If this was the start of a new life, then he was terrified to see what would follow.

Okay I've got one: Prompt 15 with Reds. đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
15. âI canât hear a word youâre saying, I just keep thinking about how good that mouth feels.â
Somehow they can make even breathing a competition.
Send me a prompt and some characters! Reminder that the challenge is to make everything SFW, so we're getting creative here.
List of prompts

âSo, weâve called the paramedics and theyâre on their way, but until they arrive itâs up to us. Remember the acronym, kids: C-A-B. Whatâs the first thing you do?â
Aiyeesha Simpson, a gunner in the making destined for academic greatness and social ruin, raised her eager hand. âFind a flat surface to lay him down!â
âCorrect.â Blossom took Brick by the shoulders and shoved him down to the floor. A gaggle of Girl Scouts gathered around him as he wheezed for air.
âOw,â he said.
Blossom patted his chest. âPlease choke more quietly.â
I will end you, he thought so loudly he hoped she could hear him through the murder in his eyes. There was community service, and then there was cruel and unusual punishment. When his required hours were up and his record expunged, he was going to write a very negative Yelp review of the local Townsville Girls Scouts of America chapter and tank this yearâs cookie sales. Supremely annoying, outrageously petty, and totally legal. That would teach Blossom for sure.
âPlace your hands here between the nipples.â
Some of the Cadette Girl Scouts giggled. To be fair, Blossom of all people saying the word nipples in reference to her former mortal enemy as she trained a room full of twelve-year-old girls in CPR using him as the dummy was a perfect storm of absurd and kinky that he did not see coming. And now he was giggling himself, because he was a teenaged boy who thought the word nipples was funny regardless of the very clear contextual cues, and that pubescent shame was on him, one hundred percent.
Blossom, an ancient and inconveniently attractive evil resurrected in a lab for the sole purpose of making his life miserable, did not appreciate his amusement. âPush hard at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. Remember to put your bodyweight behind it, like this.â
Brick flexed, and Blossom pushed against his heart like she was trying to crush it in her hands. Once, twice, three times she administered compressions, and Brickâs eyes glowed red with impotent rage.
âAssist Blossom with her CPR lessons to her satisfaction, and we can forget this ever happened,â Mayor Bellum had promised Brick when he lost his temper and blew up an (empty) ambulance. Butch didnât need his Super stomach pumped no matter how much he drank, so the ambulance and the four-figure bill that came with it were completely unnecessary. This defense did not convince the mayor, however.
The promise of the bill forgiven and his record clearedâand the deterrence of Aiyeesha Simpson filming the whole thing to upload to YouTube laterâgave Brick the strength not to eye beam Blossom in front of the children.
âOkay, who wants to try chest compressions on the dummy?â Blossom offered to the girls.
You evil bitch, thought the aforementioned dummy.
After the third little girl properly placed her sticky, little girl hands between his nipples, Brick had had enough. âHey, Iâm still dying over here. Can we move on already? Jesus Christ.â
âOf course.â Blossom smiled, and she had never looked more terrifying.
Brick hoped Butch was suffering. He hoped he was hung over so bad he couldnât piss standing up. He hoped Butch tried going online only to find that Brick had disconnected the Internet and cut him off from all his online games and porn because fuck Butch and his weak-ass stomach.
âWho knows what the next step is? Maybe someone other than Aiyeesha this time?â
None of the other girls seemed willing to stick their hands up. The carpet under Brick had scorched where his power leaked out in his building resentment for this entire situation. The smell of burned polyester just made him feel even more powerless to stop this.
âNo? Okay, well, remember the acronym. A is for airway. You want to be careful about a possible neck injury, so gently lift the chinâŚâ
Blossomâs hands were not sticky like the Girl Scoutsâ hands, but they were cold where they touched his skin and forced his head back.
âAre the paramedics here yet?â
Brick got a tight fist in his short hair for that one, and he considered it a small victory. âNo. Something about a shortage of ambulances, apparently.â
Biiiiiiiitch.
God, he was going to destroy her so bad.
âOnce youâve cleared the airway and confirmed there are no obstructionsââ
âThen you kiss!â
Some girls picked up the giggling again. Blossom, ever the professional, cleared her throat. âMouth to mouth is a life-saving procedure and not something Iâd recommend doing to someone you plan to kiss.â
Wow, great advice.
Some girls still giggled and whispered to each other. Brick had a sinking feeling that this was only going to end with his embarrassment: everyone knew that the cold judgment of pre-pubescent girls was the absolute worst type of judgment a person could suffer.
âAre you gonna show us?â
âWell, I donât think I need to show you all how to breatheââ
âItâs in the manual! You have to demonstrate every step.â Aiyeesha waved the CPR manual, and Brick realized his misjudgment. She was no vapid goody two-shoes in the making, but a future Honors Student with a secret, a Work Hard Party Harder, an Ivy League Early Decision candidate with all of senior spring semester to slack off because no one was ever going to touch her 4.3 GPA.
Aiyeesha beamed a winning smile at Brick, and it was as chilling as Blossomâs.
Jesus Christ, there are two of them.
True to form, Blossom had never been able to defy a good instructions manual. âI suppose if it says so in the manualâŚâ
Locking lips with Blossom was not a big deal. Heâd done it before when they were kids, and he could appreciate the irony of a gesture meant to save his life this time rather than end it. She didnât even try to mess with him by using her ice breath, just went through the motions as described in the instructions. The girls were disappointed with the lack of hormonal fanfare of it all, which was probably for the best. Leave it to Blossom to make mouth to mouth the sexless, medical act it was literally intended to be. He was almost upset, because it felt like sheâd won something here, which could only mean heâd lost.
Disappointed but more educated than theyâd been when theyâd arrived two hours ago, the Girl Scouts dispersed after the lesson, leaving Blossom and Brick to put away the equipment theyâd used.
She held a dummy torso, and she was looking at him with that pinched, constipated look she got when she was about to say something especially snobby. Instead, she surprised him. âBrick, thanks for being mature about it. I can honestly say you surprised me.â
He stared at her.
âIâll talk to Mayor Bellum. Iâm sure youâve done enough to meet your hours quota.â
He had not fulfilled even half of his required community service hours and they both knew it.
âSo yeah, thanks. I can finish up here if you want to leave.â
Was she trying to get rid of him? Why?
âBrick? Why are you looking at me like that?â
When Blossom was winning, he was losing. That was simply the way of the world. So, if she was losing, it could only mean he was winning.
âAre you listening to me?â
Brick smiled in what he hoped was a cool, sexy way if he imagined looking at anyone but Blossom. âI canât hear a word youâre saying. I just keep thinking about how good that mouth feels.â
Blossom stared. âIâm sorry?â
He would make her sorry.
âYeah, youâre a great teacher. I could really feel your passion for demonstrating the lesson correctly. With your mouth.â
Her staring intensified. âDid you.â
âOh, yeah.â He leaned his hip against the table like heâd seen in the movies. It worked for Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, and that guy had convinced Eva Green. Iconic. âI could really feel you trying to save me.â
Where was Aiyeesha with her phone to film this? There was so little he could do to rattle Blossom as they got older, and while the challenge delighted him, it was also exhausting being constantly a step behind her. Was this truly her demise? Had he won the Teenage Experience? Was this poetic justice for how sheâd once killed him with a mere kiss, only to suffer the same fate in turn? He could have cackled. This was better than trolling the Girl Scouts of America reviews, although he might still do that because it was a genius idea and he had always indulged his own genius ideas when they came to him.
So infatuated was he with his own self-fellating digression that he was slow to react to Blossom sidling up to him. Her hand was still cold on his chin, and it sent a shiver down his spine. âShall I save you again?â
Brickâs dignity drained with his blood, which was an unfortunate side-effect of being a teenaged boy that he would just have to suffer. But winning was about recognizing oneâs weaknesses and working around them. He leaned into her personal space. âPlease.â
He wasnât sure who kissed who first, but it was happening and all he could think was I am better at this than you and I hate you and also Do that again. He tried holding her waist, and she fought back with her fingers in his hair. Not one to be deterred, Brick tried some tongue but pulled back when he tasted thirty degrees below zero. He immediately went back in because he could feel her superiority, her Got you, you horny idiot, but the joke was on her because he liked her cold, always had when it was hot as balls out and heâd make up any excuse to pick a fight with her just for the chance to cool off.
The Girl Scout troop leader walked in on them competitively making out in the classroom like it was an Olympic sport and put an end to things, leaving them at a frustrating draw for now. They said barely a word to each other when Brick glared at the troop leader so bad she flustered and didnât even question them before running out of there with some excuse about getting the wrong room.
Later that evening, Brick caved and changed the Internet password back just so Butch would quit whining at him. He Googled kissing techniques and spent the next hour and a half watching YouTube videos and reading GQ articles about How to Please Her Like a Champion, because he was a champion and a winner and he was not going to lose to Blossom in this. Not a chance.
This had to be what they meant when they said kill with kindness.
âIâm going to end you,â he muttered to himself as he read about the top ten highest voted movie kissing scenes, which he would then stream and commit to memory in order to be fully armed and armored for the next time he encountered Blossom alone in a classroom. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe during their shared free period.
Truly, he had the most genius ideas.

That anaversary aizen looks absolutely fabulous, he looks like a figure skater xd.
I heard along time ago the last arc of the anime was being animated finally bc they pulled a 90s sailor moon were the last season was not either animated or dubbed untill decades later.
I recall near the end of the current 366 episodes there was an episode were the creapy demon ppl woke up in hell and we're all bitter, and there was the other guy who was like, iM cOmEiNg FoR u IChIgO, but then is never mentioned again after and I'm like, why? Why is lt there just plopted randomly into a different arc that seams unrelated.
And locking aizen up underground seems ok, but It deff won't hold, and he will. Escape, and he will kill, you either need that one spell from star, dubbed, the darkest spell of moon the undaunted, a powerfull dark spell that killed immortal beings, that came from best character, eclipsa, the queen of darkness.
We need that.
Or stick him I'm crystal like eclipsa was in star. Is there no one who could trap him in ice or crystal for all eternity.
How about throw him into the centre of a volcano trapped and caged , forverr being killed by heat?
I assume there's space travel, send I'm into a black whole, were a black whole don't fuckin care if your immortal or fat, you will die
:3
Yes, I love anniversary Aizen. His original octopus-butterfly hollow design was ugly so I'm glad he's back to being the fashion icon he is.
Locking Aizen up underground once is one thing, doing it twice after saying he got more powerful by just sitting there, and he escaped to battle the Quincy Soul King God... is another. I think he should have escaped at the end of the Quincy arc. That is the only feasibility.
I heard the anime is coming back for the Quincy arc as well, but because of COVID its probably going to be delayed. (I'm not gonna watch it until the Rain section of the arc then I'm dipping out. I'm only here for Zangetsu)
and funny that you mention that hell scene in the manga :)
-> spoilers for the new BLEACH 73 page anniversary chapter / thoughts/critique on it
So hey you had a premonition! Syazel .... returned? And his hole is outside of his body??? for some reason???
(I didn't understand the explanation or why / how that happens and what that means for the hollow)
And my friend and I were laughing because out of ALL the things. Kubo could do in this anniversary. He gave Syazel his dick back after going to hell. That is iconic. (that's where his hole was located, and now that its not on his body ... well...) This is the funniest thing Kubo has EVER pulled. Kudos to you, sir.
The entire internet is freaking out over Ukitake being in hell. Honestly Kubo has done far worse, and we've established that Soul Society is a corrupt system that hasn't changed, so I'm not surprised he would pull something like this.
At the same time, Kubo 1. cheated his audience. 2. continues to prove me right that he cannot bring himself to kill his characters
1. Hollows who have commit murder in their human life are sent to hell. Syazel and Aaorniero are two of these hollows, and yet, when they are killed, there is NO gates of hell scene. We see them there later in the hell chapter (which was more of a promotion for the fourth movie and I didn't believe it would hold any merit)
But the same goes for Ukitake. We never see the gates of hell take him. What, was hell late? Did hell's gates get lost like an uber before picking him up? It's bull. Withholding such vital information from your audience, not showing the gates of hell when they should pick up this soul IMMEDIATELY is ... I mean its a lie. Kubo lied to his audience.
2. Now we are told powerful shinigami are sent to hell when they die. First of all that sounds like a security threat. Wouldn't shinigami want revenge for that? Or attempt to escape? Why would they still hold loyalty after being sent to a prison of eternal suffering?
Also "Yhwach and Aizen" were the only ones keeping Hell's gates closed is way too convenient and doesn't really make any sense. I feel like Aizen should have deliberately gone to hell to retrieve powerful shinigami / hollows for his army instead of keeping it /closed/.
This is definitely a Kubo-doesn't-know-what-he's-doing-and-is -making- stuff-up-as-he-goes, but it might have a pinch of merit because of previous plot lines.... but either way, there's some big plot holes here, but again, its Kubo, so I expected nothing less.
Again, he can't kill off his characters. He introduced zombification, he introduced immortality through the hougyoku, he has Orihime and Hachigen's reversal / rejection abilities. He brought back Luppi, friggen.... a character who's entire upper half of his body was incinerated. Like.... come on. No. He's dead, you can't bring him back like that. That's a cop out and just weird. You're taking away consequences and grief.
(Also Yamamoto and Unohana deserve to be in hell far over Ukitake, they've done some fcked up stuff in their pasts unlike him)
Also Kubo's favorite character is Mayuri, which.... you're allowed to have a favorite problematic character. But Keeping said character alive and bared from the consequences of abusing his daughter, murdering innocents, and experimenting on your own squad members? Nah. Nope. Kill him, Kubo. Kill this dude.
(his weird attachment to Mayuri is probably why he keeps bringing Syazel back, since Syazel is Mayuri 2.0, but Syazel is the bad guy who does face consequences for his actions while Mayuri is not)
~
Also, I'm certain Kazui and Orihime are going to be THRILLED that their precious husband/dad is going to hell when he dies :)
(I just... Rukia teased Ichigo about leaving Orihime at home. She teased him about having a house wife who he leaves all the chores to. Orihime had two panels. She checks on her son who promised he would be at home and sleep. Kazui fcking breaks his promise like it never mattered to him and JUMPS out the window after pretending to sleep in front of his mother. ... An 8 year old... alone... in the middle of the night.)
Orihime is abandoned. She is not invited to SS, she is not informed of what is going on, her son leaves her.... I...
Orihime is a side character. She doesn't matter anymore. She hasn't mattered for a long, long time.
A part of me is glad she had little screen time, since she tends to waste it, but another part of me is embroiled with rage.
I've even see people try to defend this. "Orihime and Ichigo can't be together ALL the time, that's an unhealthy relationship!" and I'm like guys... that's not the point. The point is Orihime is not part of Ichigo's other life. Any shinigami stuff from now on is none of her business. She's going to stay at home while Kazui and Ichigo go off and save the world. Ichigo is going to be fighting by Rukia and Renji while Orihime watches from the sidelines, or worse, doesn't even know what is going on with her husband and son. Orihime is going to be uninformed and abandoned, because she has not proven she is capable of fighting by their sides(go on, @ me. I will fight this. She's a failure.), and also because she prefers a human life over a dead one. Which is ironic, because she married a dead man. Ichigo is a shinigami, and he will be one forever. god forbid she ever meets his Zanpaktou. She would tremble in fear at the monsters her husband harbors in his soul, especially when she realizes they don't care about her and would rather see her dead. (Zangetsu would absolutely kill Orihime. Not sure about Kazui, but Orihime has not accepted Zangetsu, she does not like either of them, and the feeling is assuredly mutual.) frick now I want to make a comic about this
Also still frustrated over Zangetsu's shikai / bankai regression. Kubo once again lied to his audience. Ichigo has no bankai. How ridiculous is that? The main character of BLEACH doesn't have a bankai. Insulting.
(RIP to Chad. He doesn't exist anymore. He's just gone. No mention, no cameo. Gone.)
Kazui is a demon child. That character from the novels? Hikone? They're the same character. Literally same personality, same power level. Its worse because Kazui is a liar. He constantly goes behind his parents' backs. He can summon creepy fish and creepy eyeballs and open portals like is ANYONE aware of this? How has SS not kidnapped Ichigo's son and experimented on him / locked away his powers yet? All substitute shinigami require a reiatsu controlling / spy badge to keep them in line. Where is Kazui's? Or is he just a weird fullbringer?
I was worried Kubo was gonna try and pull a knock off Boruto but luckily he kept the focus on Ichigo and the others. But that being said, Ichika and Kazui are now just... sort of there? Kazui was kinda just.... having his own adventure that doesn't matter to the plot at hand, and Ichika had some nice characterization at first but she just hid behind her dad the whole time.
I have a feeling Kazui is gonna step in at the last minute or do some major behind the scenes thing that indirectly interferes with the main plot so no one will realize how powerful and dangerous he actually is. Its sad because Ichika is the superior character in personality and likability, but she clearly is not going to have a bigger part in this.
Ichigo having a normal life after everything still feels extremely boring and uncomfortable to me. Everyone's like 'I'm still bLEACH!" but.... BLEACH just... doesn't feel like BLEACH anymore. It hasn't for a while now.
~~~
There's two new shinigami characters. Didn't care for the girl, but the Sign Language kid who talks to animals is adorable ... however... he just reminds me of Chad, and I just... it hurts knowing Chad has essentially been deleted. Chad and Orihime are officially benched. They have chosen the human world, and Orihime has given Ichigo his spawn so she has no more use/purpose to him anymore... ////sigh
~~~
Also. This is claimed to be a new "arc". So is the BLEACH manga coming back? What is happening. I thought Kubo was tired and didn't want to do BLEACH anymore. I thought Shounen Jump cut him off. People made so many excuses for Kubo and why the past two arcs have been so badly written the past 6 years and now almost everything they've attempted to defend him with has been revoked.
BLEACH is going to continue to screw up its plot lines and characters, so Its probably best for it to stay dead but I've seen a lot of Kubo stans drooling over this content, they're desperate for BLEACH's return, but its already given out all its possible revelations. There's really nothing else to top here. It's just going to make things up as it goes along ,and I'm not really here for half-assed writing like that, especially since the damage of rushing the previous manga has already been done. Kubo and Shounen Jump are riding off a money nostalgia. None of this was planned.
Honestly though.... overall feeling of this chapter, not as bad as it could have been.
Syazel stole the spotlight, and he's my friend's favorite character, so that's all that really matters.
#bleach#bleach spoilers#spoilers#text post#anti bleach 686#anti ichihime#ask#tite kubo#technically anti renruki too but#ichihime destroys the plot more than renruki#renruki feels like an after thought#they're only together for kazui and ichika's existence#but if these two are lacking in use if BLEACH were to continue then why have them at all#even tho ive tagged this as anti ichihime#interestingly enough there is no ichihime interaction or really mention at all in this chapter

âHumans are so funny. You make up false stories about us and refuse to believe anything that isnât the same as your imagination,â the siren said.
Harry tossed his head back and laughed. He held out a finger at her. âNo, mermaids arenât supposed to exist. Youâre not supposed to exist.â
The siren narrowed her sharp gaze, and Harry quickly moved back a bit in fear of her grabbing his leg and pulling him into the water. To his surprise, she said, âAnd who are you to decide that? A useless human with a useless tailââ
âOkay, enough with the tail joke.â
ââcanât even survive the drowning deep. You donât want to believe we exist, so you wonât have to carry the guilt of trashing our homes and murdering our kind.â
Baffled, Harry worked his jaw while silently cursing himself for never taking part in those debate classes back in school. Well, to be fair, he couldnât have known that one day he would have to debate with a deadly siren in a cave on his goddamn birthday!
He shut his eyes and sucked in a breath. âLook, lady. Iâm only one small human, with a bigger than average human tail, FYI.â The siren eyed at his crotch in disbelief, so he quickly crossed his legs. âBut thatâs beside the point! What I was trying to say was that, if youâre seeking revenge, I canât satisfy you because Iâm not responsible for trashing the ocean or shit like that. Iâm a singer, alright? And I donât even live here. Iâm from London. A land far away. If you wanna murder a human, I suggest looking for Elon Musk.â
The siren stared at him like he was the mythical creature. âIâm not familiar with all the names you mentioned,â she said, folding her arms across her chest, which had been a big distraction for him. Good to know that he could still get horny while facing death.
âDonât you guys have fish Wikipedia?â he asked, and she tilted her head, looking rather confused. Harry pinched the bridge of his nose. âSorry, I shouldnât have assumed that you should know all the facts about humans. That sounded like discrimination against sirens.â
For the first time since Harry met this siren, she actually smiled at him. âYou have a lot of funny words, you strange creature,â she said, her eyebrows knitted in fascination.
âYou know what?â Harry exhaled sharply. âSince youâre my kidnapper, Iâm gonna stop arguing with you in case you still wanna kill me. But today is my birthday, so I canât be kidnapped. I havenât posted a thank you message on Twitter yet, and I might get cancelled for that. Celebrities get cancelled for literally anything nowadays. Itâs annoying.â The siren blinked at him, her pink lips slightly parted. âRight,â he breathed. âYou donât have a Twitter account.â
âYou said you were a singer.â
âThatâs all you got from my long speech?â
âWhat is it? Singer.â
Harry bit his dry lip and frustratedly combed his fingers through his damp hair. âI sing. Use my voice to entertain other people.â
âOh, like sirens.â
âI guess.â
âExcept that we use our voice to kill people.â
âWhat?â
âSing for me,â said the siren despite Harryâs horrified look. She seemed excited as she rested her folded arms on a boulder and gazed up at him with a twinkle in her crystal clear blue eyes. âLetâs hear it. I didnât know humans could sing. Letâs see if itâs good.â
âFine.â Harry blew out his cheeks and cleared his throat.
He began to sing.
âWalk in your rainbow paradiseââ
âWhatâs a rainbow paradise?â the siren asked, but he didnât stop singing to answer her.
ââbrown skin and lemon over ice.â
âWhy are you singing nonsense words?â
Once again, he ignored her, this time, closing his eyes. âI get so lost inside your eyes. Donât you believe it? You donât have to say you love me.â
âLove,â the siren repeated the word as if she had never heard of it in her whole life.
Harry opened his eyes and found that she was looking at him as if she could see right through him. He went on, âYou donât have to say youâre mine. Oh honey, I-i-i-i walk through fire for you. Just let me adore you.â
âWhy would you walk through fire for someone?â the siren wondered out loud as she stared off into the distance, her strong brows knitted. âThat's stupid. Fire is hot. I saw the humans on the boats use it one night. I almost burned my fingers trying to touch it.â
âYeah, donât play with fire.â
âThen why would you walk through it?â
The siren pouted, and Harry caught himself smiling at her naivety. âItâs supposed to mean that youâd do anything for the person you love. Even risking your life.â
âThatâs stupid,â the siren repeated her earlier remark. For a second, Harry saw a curious little girl and not a dangerous sea creature from earlier.
âWell, itâs just a song,â Harry told her. âI personally wouldnât do that for anyone, either, but some people do love with all they have, and would sacrifice everything for the one they love.â
An angry frown had replaced the sirenâs previous perplexed expression. âSome humans murder the ones they claim to love,â she said in a cold voice. Harry felt a chill running down his spine, but then the siren went on with a softened expression. âSirens are not supposed to love. Love is a weakness for my kind.â
Harry nodded. âBet you donât even have a heart.â
The siren cocked her head; a corner of her mouth raised subtly. âEvery living and breathing thing has a heart. Sometimes itâs valuable. Sometimes it's not.â
âOnly valuable if itâs the heart that you want,â replied Harry.
For a long moment, the siren looked into his eyes as if she was trying to read his thoughts. Could she do that? Read his thoughts?
Beads of sweat were trickling down his back as his heart began to race; he could hear it in his ears. Suddenly, the siren was pulled beneath the water. Harry stiffened at once. The ocean was still for a moment, then two sparkling tails burst through the surface. Harryâs jaw fell slack with a soundless scream when he saw another siren sinking her fangs into the first one's neck.
The other siren had bright red hair and a silver tail. There were visible scars all across her pale, lanky arms, and he couldnât see her face. Legs too stiff to run and hide, he stood on the edge and watched in absolute terror. The scene in front of him was madness as the sirens screeched, their tails flapping, creating violent waves as they sank their claws and teeth into each otherâs flesh. Harry could see blood. The first siren was not as strong as the one that was attacking her. He must save her. Maybe a part of him knew that she wasnât entirely evil. Maybe because she was the only hope for him to get home. Either way, he couldnât just stand by and watch her die.
Before Harry could even think of a way, a bony hand wrapped around his ankle and dragged him into the sea.
.
.
.
Harryâs dreams were thick with blood and haunted by the sirenâs face. Heâd been in the dark water, drowning, and the last thing heâd seen was her sapphire eyes glowing with the sunlight above as sheâd stretched out her arm to grab him before he sank deeper. He woke up gasping, still feeling the saltiness of the ocean on his tongue and the pressure of water on his lungs.
He found himself lying on his bed, fully naked under the covers. Had he been dreaming?
Kneading his temple to chase away the headache, Harry scanned his sore eyes around the room and screamed when he saw her sitting in the corner. Naked. He looked away as soon as he caught her ocean blue eyes staring back.
The siren was in his room. And she had legs!
âYouâre alive!â she exclaimed.
He heard her standing up but couldnât bring himself to look. She sat down on the edge of his bed, smelling like the ocean. Not the fishy kind of smell; one that was unique, and Harry liked it even though he shouldnât.
âThis is a dream. This is a dream. This is a dream,â he mumbled to himself while clutching the duvet to his chest.
The siren, now a human girl, let out a sigh. âItâs not. This is real. Iâm real.â
âYouâre not.â
âLook at me.â
âI canât.â
âWhy?â
âYouâre...naked.â
Even though Harry wasnât looking, he could feel her questioning gaze pinning on him. He grabbed the covers and shoved them at her. âCover yourself.â
âOh...okay.â The siren did as she was told as Harry quickly placed a pillow on his private part. He finally looked at her, and she smiled while covering her upper body and the area between her legs with the duvet.
Harry let out a sigh of relief. âBetter. Okay, why are you here?â
The sirenâs eyes widened. âYou donât remember?â
Harry shook his head.
âWe were talking when my sister attacked me, then dragged you into the water. You were lucky I saved you twice and brought you back to where Iâd found you. This is the only palace on this beach, so I assumed it was yours.â
Harry sat and stared her face, trying to detect a lie but failed.
The siren rolled her eyes. She seemed disappointed as she swept her long black hair over her shoulder, exposing the huge bite mark on her long pale neck. The skin had healed, and the blood had dried, but the area was still bruised. Harry fought the urge to touch it. There was no way this was really happening.
The siren shot a glance at his ankle. And that was when Harry noticed the red claw mark around it. He shivered at the flashbacks of a siren with red hair and a silver tail charging straight at him with her mouth wide open, her sharp teeth ready to tear off his flesh.
âSorry about my sister. She could be very...deadly,â the siren in front of him said, looking remorseful.
Harry eyed her up and down once again. Finally, he broke his silence, âWhat happened to your tail?â
The siren refused to look him in the eye as she said, âMy mother found out that I saved you, a human, so she cursed me.â
âCursed you?â
The siren said nothing; the corners of her mouth lowered as she stared down sadly at her legs.
What kind of The Little Mermaid plot is this? Harry thought to himself, yet didnât say it because it shouldnât be a joke. Sheâd lost her tail, which meant she couldnât go back to the ocean. Ariel from The Little Mermaid had wished to become a human. This girl had been cursed with the life she never wanted just to save him twice.
Harry buried his face into his palms. âShit. Fuck. Iâm sorry. This is all my fault.â
âIt is your fault.â
His head whipped up at her honest response. âYou always say what you think, donât you?â
âWhy shouldnât I?â
Harry sighed and ran his palm over his face. âNever mind. How...how do I get you back to your mermaid form?â
âSiren.â
âSorry, siren. How do I help turn you back?â
âI donât know,â she said sadly, clutching the duvet to her chest. âBut I need a place to stay until I figure it out.â
Harry thought for a moment and nodded. âIâll pay for your hotel room.â
âWhatâs a hotel?â the siren asked, her eyes round. âAnd why canât I stay here in your palace? Itâs big and you live alone.â
âThis is a house, not a palace,â Harry said. âBut Iâm going back to London tomorrow, and I canât take you with me.â
âWhere is London? I want to see London.â
Seeing her so excited made Harry laugh. âNo, you donât; trust me. Itâs not sunny there. Always dark and gloomy and raining.â
âItâs not sunny underwater, either.â
Harry held up a finger and kept his mouth open for a moment as he pondered over what sheâd said. âGood point. But Iâm still not taking you to London. Thatâs not a good idea.â
The sirenâs eyebrows drew together. âIt was your fault Iâm in this situation.â
Harry gasped. âYouâre so manipulative!â
âI donât know what it means.â
âIt means you say things like that to get me to feel sorry for you, and so I have to help you.â
âOh, then, yeah, Iâm manipulative,â the siren said. âTake me to London with you, or Iâll find you in London and make your life hell.â
Harry tossed his head back and groaned. As if he hadnât been traumatised enough by all the events that had happened today, now he had to take responsibility for the life of a mythical creature. If he had been a bad guy, he would have just let the government have her and keep her in a lab like that Oscar-winning movie about the dead girl and her fish lover. But Harry wasnât a villain. Sure, he could be an asshole, but he couldnât betray someone whoâd risked her life to save his. Twice.
Maybe if heâd just say yes and then leave quickly in the morning, he wouldnât have to deal with her. Heâd ask someone to take care of her, pay for a place for her to stay and her food. Her mother would have to take her back eventually. He didnât know about sirens, but even in the animal kingdom, mothers never abandoned their children.
âFine, Iâll take you to London,â he said. Seeing the smile on her face, he was lowkey thankful that he was so good at lying. âFirst, you have to put some clothes on. Wait here.â
Carefully, he slipped out of bed, holding a pillow in front of his crotch and one behind him to cover his butt, then padded awkwardly to his closet to change and get her something to wear. When he returned, she was still sitting on his bed, humming a familiar song and kicking her feet as if testing out her new body parts. He found it endearing, but of course, he wouldnât tell her.
He handed her a bathrobe. âPut this on. Iâll find some real clothes for you later.â
The siren accepted the bathrobe and stared at it as if sheâd been told to put it in her mouth and chew. She glanced up at him. âI donât understand the purpose of this.â
âTo cover up your private parts.â
Suddenly, she seemed sad. âI think Iâm broken.â
Harry blinked. âWhat?â
She looked at him again, pouting. âI donât have a tail.â
âI can see that.â
âNo, I mean, a tail like yours.â
When Harry realised what she meant, his face burned, and he cleared his throat into his fist. âYouâre not supposed to,â he said awkwardly. âYouâre...a female. I bet male sirens donât look the same as you, right?â
âThereâs no male sirens,â she told him.
Harry cocked his head to the side, squinting his eyes. âHuh? Then how do you guys...you know?â
She blinked innocently at him. She didnât know.
âMate.â The word made Harry cringe. âHow do you mate?â
âSirens mate with mermen. We only need them for children.â
âOkay, thatâs...newâŚâ
Harry would be glad to find out more, but this was definitely not the right time. He waved his hand, urging her to hurry up. Clumsily, the siren got to her feet. Harry didnât intend to stay here while she changed, but since she could barely keep her balance, she had to hold onto his arms. He stood there, staring at the ceiling as the duvet dropped. She was completely naked in front of him now and so dangerously close. The voice inside his head was telling him not to peek. Fuck. Why did she have to be sexy?
âDo you...um...do you need help?â he asked as she seemed to be struggling with the bathrobe.
âNo, thanks. I got it!â she said between ragged breaths, then, âHey your tail is growing!â
Harryâs eyes dropped to the front of his boxers, his face heating at the sight of his erection. He gently pushed her back onto the bed and rushed to the bathroom.
âWhere are you going?â she shouted after him. âI need to see it in its full form!â
âThis is its full form!â
âItâs still small.â
âShut up! Itâs not!â

Ezili felt bad for lying to this human.
Well, lying was the whole point of her mission, but he had been so nice to her when he found out she couldnât return to the ocean. She blamed her new human heart for these emotions. Siren Ezili would never feel sorry for this ugly creature. No, wait, this one wasnât ugly. The mermen were ugly. As much as she despised humans, she must admit that most of them were beautiful.
When this human wasnât looking, Ezili would regard him with as much curiosity as he had regarded her in secret. The way his brown curls swept back messily. His defined jawlines. The deep dimples in his cheeks. The look of wonder in his eyes. He looked about her age, but his eyes were innocent, greener than seaweed.
She looked away as he caught her gawking. They were sitting at a small table on the floor. The room was darkly lit by the light in the corner. On the table was a mushy pile with little fire sticks on top.
âWhat is this?â Ezili asked, inspecting the object.
The human smiled at her, the firelight dancing in his leaf-green eyes as he said, âItâs a cake. Weâre celebrating my birthday.â
âYou told me not to play with fire.â
âWeâre gonna put it out anyway.â He winked at her. âA little fire wonât hurt.â Ezili watched the human take out a little black thing and flick his thumb. Fire flared out, making Ezili flinch. âRelax,â he chuckled and the fire vanished. âThis is called a lighter. It makes fire. This is a cake. These are candles.â
âWhat do we do with the cake?â
âWe eat it.â
âYou eat fire?â
The human laughed at Eziliâs distressed look. âNo, silly. We blow out the candles, then eat the cake.â
âOh,â she said, making him laugh harder. She found it disrespectful and annoying. Was this creature making fun of her? âWhatâs so funny?â she asked through gritted teeth.
The human stopped laughing, yet his dimples were still visible. âI canât believe Iâm celebrating my twenty-fourth with a siren,â he said.
âWho do you usually celebrate with?â Ezili asked.
âMy friends or family,â the human said. âMy friends were supposed to be here but their flight got cancelled due to bad weather.â The sadness in his eyes disappeared as he gave a dismissive wave and laughed. âOh well, itâs not bad being alone. In fact, Iâve been alone my whole life.â
âThatâs sad,â Ezili murmured, mesmerized by the candles.
âItâs not,â replied the human. âSome people live their whole life surrounded by others, and yet, theyâre still lonely.â
As he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, smiled, and blew out the candles, Ezili sat there and pondered over his last words.
They didnât eat the cake right away, because the humans said they ought to eat it after dinner. Apparently, humans ate three main meals a dayâbreakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sirens ate when they were hungry, so this was very new to Ezili. She picked up the small shiny thing that shaped like her motherâs trident and pushed around the foods on her plate. âWhat is this?â
âFish,â the human said with a smile.
âDead?â
âYou expect me to eat alive fish?â
Ezili scowled at him. âThatâs what we eat.â
âYouâre human now. Try cooked fish.â
When she didnât do anything but stare at the plate, the human nudged her hand with his knuckles. âCome on. If you donât like it, Iâll get you the raw fish in the fridge.â
Ezili doubted that this imbecile creature would poison her with these colourful foods to get away with his responsibility, but at the same time, nothing was impossible.
However, she would probably faint if she didnât eat. This dinner actually smelled good, and her stomach was rumbling because she hadnât eaten since yesterday. And so she stabbed the fishâs burned flesh with her little trident, closed her eyes and put it into her mouth. It was soft, salty and a bit spicy, and...surprisingly delicious. She quickly took another bite, and another, and another.
âWow, youâre really hungry, huh?â The human chuckled. âYou like it?â
Ezili nodded fast, unable to answer because her mouth was full.
The human seemed satisfied. âGood. Means Iâm a great cook.â
Ezili chewed fast and swallowed as the human began to eat. She tried to copy the way he held the little trident and the knife, and felt like sheâd changed. Her mother would hate her so much for enjoying this. And Koa would make sure everyone in their kingdom knew and turn her into a laughing stock.
âDo you have any questions for me?â she said, breaking the silence, mostly to distract herself from thinking about the mission and her family.
The human thought for a second. âHmmm, I have a bunch so I donât know where to start.â Then, after a pause, âWhy did your mum do this to you? Doesnât she love you?â
Ezili wished she could stab him for bringing up the topic sheâd been trying to avoid. Instead, she sucked in a breath. âShe does. Itâs just...the way sirens show love is different from humans. We teach our children to be strong from the moment they are born. Sirens live dependent on one another to survive, and so we always have to look out for one another. I guess thatâs love for us. My mother is the Sea Queen. Sheâs very powerful, and so she has high hopes for my sister and I. My sister is better than me, though. Iâve always envied her.â
âYour sister is scary as hell,â the human remarked. âBut if your mum is the Queen, you must be a princess.â
âYeah.â
âWow, so does that make me Prince Eric?â
âYour name is Eric?â
âNo,â the human chuckled. âItâs a reference from The Little Mermaid. You should watch that film. Youâd probably hate it though. Anyway, itâs so weird that we donât know each otherâs name. Iâm Harry.â The human, well, Harry, put his hand across the table. Ezili didnât know what to do with it so she just stared.
âIâm Ezili.â
Harry smiled, picked up her right hand and shook it. His hand was bigger than her and warm. She liked it.
âCool name. Can I call you Ezi?â
Ezili instantly pulled her hand back. âNo, you filthy creature. Thatâs not my name!â
âEzi is short for Ezili.â
âWhat?â
Harry ignored the look of confusion she was giving him. âOr I could call you Bubbles. Thatâs a cute nickname.â
âWhy Bubbles?â
âBecauseâŚâ He tossed his head back and groaned. âDamn, woman, you gotta read the story, too. I canât make these jokes if you donât get the references.â
Ezili had so many questions. Just as she was about to ask, the black thing on the table lit up and started playing a song that startled Ezili.
âSorry. My mumâs calling,â Harry said as he picked up the thing and swiped his fingers across it. âRight on time.â
âIs your mother trapped in that thing?â Ezili asked, clutching the hem of the shirt Harry had told her to wear. It was too big on her but she loved that it was comfortable and kept her warm.
âNo, this is a phone,â Harry said, shaking the magical device with light coming out of it. âSo my mumâs in London, and when she calls me on the phone, her voice gets transferred through it, and I can hear what she says.â He pushed himself up and told Ezili, âIâll be right back.â
Once Harry was gone, Ezili sat there and tried her best to process all the new information. It was only her first night on land and she was already going through it. This mission was harder than she thought. Still, she had no choice but to continue. She must have that heart, and her mother would be so proud.
.
.
.
When Harry woke up this time, he was on his private jet.
âHey.â
He screamed, causing Ezi to fall back into her seat in front of him. He whipped his head around and saw that they were the only two people in this cabin. Before he could even come up with a question, Ezi got up, her hand resting on either side of his seat as she leaned forward, until her face was so close to his that he could smell the vanilla scent of the cake in her breath.
Her eyes sharpened at once. âI know you were trying to get rid of me.â
âNo...I didnât.â
âYou did, Harry. You were going to leave me at your beach house. I heard you talking on the phone last night with someone else after talking to your mum. You mentioned a hotel room.â
Harry had booked a room for her on the phone last night. He should have done it on the website.
âBut guess what?â A corner of her mouth lifted. âI might not have the ability to control tides anymore, but I still have my voice. And so I can control humans with it. I sang you to sleep last night. Then when your servants came to take you to this metal bird, I made him carry you to the magic black carriage and I came here with you. You think youâre one step ahead, youâre wrong. Try that again. I dare you.â
Harry swallowed hard. He could feel his palms sweating as he rubbed them against his thighs. âOkay, Iâm sorry for that,â he said. Â âBut you canât control people like that. If someone found out what youâre capable of...what you are...youâd be in big trouble.â
Ezi arched an eyebrow as she slowly backed away and stood straight with her arms across her chest. Thank God, Harryâs mother called just in time. He immediately got up and excused himself to answer the phone. He left a pouty Ezili in the cabin and went to the exit to talk to his mother.
âMy precious boy, are you on the plane right now?â
âYes, Mum,â Harry sighed.
âGood. I just need the name of your date for the seat arrangement.â
Harry stiffened for a second then quickly glanced over his shoulder to check if Ezi was eavesdropping. Fortunately, she was distracted by a magazine.
âLike now?â he asked his mum.
âYes. Last night you told me you found one.â
Yes, Harry remembered that part, but heâd only said that so his mum would stop pestering him.
He took a deep breath. âYeah, I did.â
âHer name?â
He hesitated before saying, âEzili Hans.â
Hans as in Hans Christian Andersen. The writer of The Little Mermaid. If he had the energy to be happy, heâd give himself a pat on the back for the creativity.
âGreat,â his mother said, sounding as if heâd just told her he was getting married. âIâm so excited to meet this girl.â
âNo, youâre not.â
âYes, dear?â
âI-I said âWell, of courseâ,â Harry said and covered it up with a nervous laugh.
When he got off the phone with his mum, he felt a light tap on the shoulder and turned around to see Ezi. Shit, had she listened toâ
âI promise I wonât use my singing voice to control you again,â she said, to his surprise. "Please. I cannot survive on my own." She twisted the hem of his band-tee uneasily. Even though she looked super cute in his t-shirt and joggers, she was still too underdressed for someone that was travelling on a private jet.
âFine. You can stay,â he heard himself say while trying to imagine her with actual clothes that fit her.
Eziâs blue eyes lit up, and the smile that rarely showed up on her face caught Harry off guard. He almost forgot what was happening.
âReally?â
âYeah.â He nodded. âBut we need to set up some rules.â

MVA In Memoriam (4/5)
The Comprehensive Account of the Butchering of My Villain Academia
(Introduction and Part One, Episode 108: My Villain Academia) (Part Two, Episode 109: Revival Party) (Part Three, Episode 110: Sad Man's Parade)
Part Four, Episode 111: Origin: Shimura Tenko
Chapter 233 â Bright Future
⢠Twice clearly having arranged a Skeptic puppet to where its arm can be used as a pillow for Togaâs neck. A cute little character detail while also being kind of disturbing? Very on-brand for the League! A not-immediately-plot-crucial visual of a member of the League demonstrating obvious care for another member? The guillotine awaits!
⢠A little explanation about how clonesâ physicality and memories work relative to the last time Twice saw the people the clones are based on. This is a very useful little nod of explanation to something that remained unclear from the dialogue of Mr. Clone-press last chapter. Twiceâs quirk is pretty arcane in its ins and outs, frankly, and the clearer those details are, the fewer plot holes youâre leaving for later.
⢠The scene of Skeptic being right on the verge of confronting Twice. Skeptic has, oh, about five moments where heâs obviously a big tense neurotic whoâs unpleasant to be around if things arenât going his way, and the anime deleted or downplayed all but two of them. As ever, itâs obscenely damaging to the characterization of the MLA cast, who we have little enough time with as it is. Further, it was a particularly weird choice to make with Skeptic, who is as of this writing the only major MLA character whoâll emerge still free and active from the War Arc. Why shaft the characterization of the one of new characters whoâs going to be getting the most attention out of any of them in the next arc, with yet more scenes yet to come after?[1]
⢠A full pageâs-worth of Spinnerâs rationalizations on targeting Trumpet and ordering the Twice doubles to do the same. This lays out the details on why targeting Trumpet stands to relieve some of the load on Shigaraki. It isnât because Trumpetâs quirk makes the crowds more dangerous, though that is true. Spinner targets Trumpet because heâs seen enough to know that attacking the MLAâs leaders gets them crazy riled up; he knows that if he makes himself a threat to Trumpet, then all Trumpetâs followersâ attention will shift focus to Spinner, leaving Shigaraki with less to deal with.           Spinner also knows that that is ludicrously dangerous to him personally, given his weak quirk, but he actively makes that choice anyway, because thatâs how much heâs devoted himself to Shigaraki without (yet) quite articulating the nature and reasons for that devotion. Targeting Trumpet without any of that reasoning made for a perfectly sound tactical decision, but it missed the regard Spinner shows the unnamed mobs of the MLA, and it really missed the probable savage beatdown and even possible death that Spinner consciously chooses to risk for Shigarakiâs sake.           Of course, a chunk of what the episode deleted is flashbacks to scenes the anime also cut, so they couldnât figure into Anime!Spinnerâs reasoning. This does not excuse yet more cuts to Spinnerâs arc and characterization; it only adds to how badly the anime maimed him.           Also, on a less salty but still confused note, deleting all the Twice clones from the beginning of the scene and just having Spinner running along a wall past mobs of people instead of laboriously fighting his way through the street to the van was really dumb. Why did all those MLA people just stand there and let him run by? Where did all the Twice clones that just helped save Spinner from a huge flurry of long-distance attacks disappear to? Come on.
⢠Trumpetâs thought that using Sevens Loud will draw every bit of strength from their warriors, but that itâs necessary. Setting aside that it looks far less necessary when there hasnât been a crowd of Twice clones fighting Trumpetâs people this whole time, just Spinner by his lonesome, we still lost quite a bit to this cut. Firstly, a nuance on the trade-off Incite givesâthat its stat-boost is temporary, and that itâs borrowing from the future to pay for the present, a stock that is limited and a bill that will come due when the effect wears off.           Secondly, itâs another demonstration that the MLA leaders arenât just thoughtlessly wasting their followersâ lives; theyâre very consciously doing cost/benefit analysis on how much danger their people are in versus what stands to be gained by the potential exertion or outright deaths those people will suffer. Itâs cold reasoning, yes, but thatâs how the Liberation Army operates: not for the personal gain or lackadaisical ease of the people on topâTrumpet would just have been in the tower speaking through city-wide loudspeakers, if that were the caseâbut for the advancement of the groupâs ideals.           It also just grants Trumpet some interiority, but of course the anime canât have that.
⢠The note in Trumpetâs meta-ability explanation that the more his voice causes the air to vibrate, the stronger Inciteâs effect. This isâgood god, it is literally the entire design mentality behind Sevens Loud! Sevens Loud purpose isn't to make his voice louder so more people can hear him (which I would think is the most logical assumption an anime-only person would make as to why he puts it on); itâs to make himself louder because being louder enhances the boost. Itâs about the quality of the effect, not the quantity of targets. This is why Trumpet has the thought about how using Sevens Loud will drain the strength reserves of his people. Thereâd be no correlation there if Sevens Loud were only about boosting his range.
⢠When Spinner got porcupined in the anime, they did a close-up on his face, possibly to avoid the gore of showing the spines piercing through his forearm. Thatâs fine, but they also emphasized the reaction by having him lose his grip on the huge fuck-off knife he had clutched in his teeth. In the manga, sure, he yells in pain, but he doesnât lose the knife. Indeed, he gets the guy off him by slashing at him with itâa shot the anime dropped. So Spinner doesnât even get to keep displays of his pain tolerance, a trait he doubtless improved during those six weeks against Machia. Why does the anime hate Spinner so much, you guys? Why did it go out of its way to make him look lamer, when Dabi and Toga were out there getting anime-original flourishes to make them look cooler?
⢠Spinnerâs thoughts, âWhen I get inspired to act, I donât know what the heck Iâm doing! Iâm just a loser jumping on a bandwagon. Or at least thatâs what it looks like.â A humorous bit of self-awareness from Spinner here. The anime got at the self-awareness. The humor, as weâll see, not so much.
⢠Spinnerâs thoughts, âLook at me. Look at me!! With all that prejudice in your eyes!â Hah hah, laughed BNHA the anime nervously, what prejudice are you talking about, Spinner? No idea what you could possibly be referring to there! This oneâs particularly annoying because, while one might think that the anime was just dodging the heteromorphobia angle it eradicated all references to back at the beginning of the arc, the prejudice line isnât even about heteromorphobia, not really.           See, the Japanese line there literally translates to, âWith those colored glasses!ââto see with colored glasses being a Japanese idiom for seeing something from a biased viewpoint. So aside from being a wordplay jab at Trumpetâs choice in eyewear, itâs also about Trumpetâs expressed view that Spinner, having been a shut-in with a weak quirk who decided to take his resentment out on the world, canât possibly amount to anything much. So, what, did the people in charge of making those cuts think Trumpet was right? Why even keep the line where he disparages Spinner if youâre not going to let Spinner call it what it is? Heâs not calling out fantasy racism there, anime! Heâs calling out the bias against weak quirks that even the good guys in this world sometimes partake in!           Possibly itâs because non-villains in the world[2] sometimes use reasoning that leads logically to quirk supremacism that the anime got gunshy with it, or it was more reluctance to give the villainsâand the Too-Real Iguchi Shuuichi especiallyâmoral ground for accusations against their society that get too close to real life. Whatever the motivation, itâs a bullshit cut.
⢠Shigaraki calling RD âDetnerat,â presumably because he neither knows RDâs real name nor cares to dignify him by using his code name. The anime, again, made neither the connection nor Shigarakiâs recognition explicit, so it lost the specificity and pettiness of that little snub.
⢠A little exchange between Giran and a Twice clone as they flee. It doesnât give you much you wouldnât assume just from seeing them flee, but it always feels more immediate and empathetic when the characters talk and you can see their expressions, instead of just a quick shot of them from behind as they run away in complete silence. Heck, running away in complete silence is actively out of character for Twice!
⢠Because the anime has some kind of aversion/restriction on showing hand-related violence, it radically changed how Shigaraki lost his fingers,[3] resulting in the loss of several important shots. To the best of my parsing, in the manga, when Re-Destro makes that first big jump to avoid Shigarakiâs decay wave, he comes back down specifically aiming for Shigarakiâs outstretched left hand, spread wide and flat on the ground. Shigaraki tries to evade (you can see the blur of his left arm in the panel where RD lands), but either RD does manage to clip the hand or he simply hits the ground with so much force that the sheer explosive burst of rock shreds Shigarakiâs hand and part of his coat sleeve. Being so much larger, RD then simply snags Shigaraki by the wrist before he can get out of range. Itâs very fast, a burst of speed and violence, and very different (read: cooler) from Shigaraki flipping end over end in slow motion in a way that seemed to imply visually that he was thrown well out of RDâs grabbing range.           As to the shots we lost? I counted three. First, Hanaâs hand crumpling amidst all the flying debris. Second, that big dramatic panel of Shigarakiâs maimed hand ribboning blood into the air as the narration box finally drops Re-Destroâs identity and code name. Third, the shot of him catching Shigaraki, almost delicately, between one thumb and forefinger and delivering the, âWas it this hand that committed such evil acts?â lineâa clear threat to what of that hand Shigaraki has remainingâas we find out what his meta-ability is.           This is all hugely dramatic in the manga, because, of course, readers always assumed Shigaraki needed all five fingers to activate his quirk, and here Re-Destro nigh-effortlessly robs him of fully half his capacity to use it. Itâs a shocking turn-around and instantly ups RDâs threat level by allowing him to permanently maim Shigaraki in a way that no one, hero or villain, has done before or since. Robbing Re-Destro of the immediacy of that seemingly devastating blowâinflicted within moments of meeting the real Shigarakiâdid immeasurable damage to his credibility as an arc boss.           The shot in the manga is also just arresting visually, with RD finally getting to properly loom over Shigaraki. Most of the shots up to this point have been framed such that, while RD is obviously bigger, he and Shigaraki have still been moving and fighting in a pretty level way. This is the first place where the viewer is situated so squarely behind Shigaraki that they can really feel how massive RD is in comparison. Itâs certainly a more impressive visual than this messâthanks, anime; thanks, whatever broadcasting standards forced overworked and uninspired animators to undertake a redraw of RDâs quirk reveal panel when every other member of the MLA brass had theirs carried over directly from the manga.
⢠A chapter-ending cliffhanger of Slidinâ Go helping direct traffic on the outskirts of Deika and the warning rumble as Gigantomachia approaches. Aside from being a nice little tension boostâWill Gigantomachia roll up just in time to see Re-Destro making a mess of Shigaraki? Who will he target? Will Shigaraki ever be able to win him over if he sees a scene like that?âitâs good foreshadowing for what the news reports will eventually be saying. Remember, the claim is that a bunch of villains lured Deikaâs heroes away and then attacked the city while it was defenseless; thatâs why we never see any of the MLAâs heroes involved with the fight once it starts. And now, here, we find out where theyâve been the whole time: making sure no outsiders get in who might be able to undermine that narrative.
Framing Shifts
⢠Once again had an MLA member using their Detnerat item say its name out loud, when itâs clear in the manga that theyâre just thinking the names internally. Once again, it was kind of silly.
⢠When Spinner flashes back to watching Stain on TV and being inspired, the manga uses a shot of Stainâs face, snarling and defiant. The anime usedâa shot of Stain from behind, only visible from the shoulders to the knees, hunched so that his lower back and ass were towards the camera. Bones⌠What exactly were you implying lit Spinnerâs fire there? Or did you just not have the time or budget to go pull Stainâs reference sheets for drawing his face?
⢠A tone issue, but a major one: Spinner should be grinning, face alight with accusatory challenge, as he hurls his accusations of the MLA/Trumpet being the same bandwagon-jumping nobodies that he is. This is the moment in the manga where we see Spinner truly throw his hesitations and his doubts to the wind and embrace Shigarakiâs nihilistic fervor and the beauty, value and profundity of emptiness. So what if Iâm empty? So what if he wants emptiness? Who cares about other peoplesâ ideals if their ideals leave no room for me? Itâs not a heroic triumph, but itâs a triumph all the same, and losing Spinnerâs smile made the moment far too bitter.
⢠Meanwhile, in exactly the opposite problem, Shigaraki by this point is not smiling. In fact, heâs barely on his feet, swaying violently in place with accompanying sound effects. While his words are openly mocking, he seems to wholly lack the energy to back them up with his usual verve. The anime didnât have him smiling, admittedly, but the whole time the âcameraâ wasnât directly on his face, his voice actor was reading the lines with an uneven, chuckling cadence that suggested Shigaraki was seconds away from breaking into howls of laughter. He was also, of course, impossibly clean, at a point at which his manga counterpart is muddy, bloody and tattered from the horrifically extended combat heâs been living for six weeks. Itâs stuff like this that made it so impossible to take the Army or even Machia as much of a threat in the anime, when, other than the red cords on his hands being broken, Shigaraki looked absolutely no different than usual.
Additions
⢠Gave Spinner a tiny bit of new animation when he got mobbed by people hopped up on Incite. It was nice, but if they were going to give him a flourish, Iâd rather it have come when he swipes Porcupine Dude off him with a combat knife. Or, you know, just kept the bit of him telling the Twices to attack and his reasoning on why.
⢠Cut inside briefly to show a ballerina girl dancing through a darkened apartment right before she sliced a neat circle out of the wall. I love it, A+, exactly the kind of expansion on the action of the manga I wanted to see. My only complaint is that her manga self looked more like Pearl from Steven Universe.[4] XD
⢠A quick new shot of RD when Shigaraki was hounding him about his feelings. His teeth were visibly gritted, the corners of his mouth pulled down. It stands out because thereâs only one shot of RD there in the manga, and in it, heâs smiling, close-mouthed and calm. The anime copied said shot, smile and all, then cut away, and when it cut back, Re-Destro had a totally different expression on his face. Baffling. Anime!RD having a dour scowl everywhere manga!RD is smiling in a tight, controlled way was all over the fight scene, and it detracted from the sense of RDâs menace every time.
Chapter 234 â Destruction Sense
⢠The illustration(s) accompanying Re-Destroâs, âLetâs not judge people by their quirks,â line. The pictures are cute, but the real loss there was the note informing us that theyâre excerpts from a childrenâs book published by ShoowayshaâCuriousâs outfitâcalled Quirks and Us. Thatâs a very concrete illustration of the kinds of things the MLA is getting up to in the world, and an equally concrete thing an anime-only viewer lost. Of course, that viewer never even found out Curious was in publishing, so it wouldnât have meant anything on that front, but there is one other thing I think is notable: the way that book implies that the only people explicitly pushing a âdonât judge other people by their quirksâ message are the radical Liberationists.           See, the rest of the story touches on the virtues of a nonjudgmental attitude here and there, but actually finding people willing to say it out loud isâunprecedented, I think. Deku comes across situations where he could say something like that multiple times and he never, ever doesânot to Shouto, nor to Shinsou, nor to Eri, nor to the giant fox lady. And thatâs not even touching on Shoujiâs mask, or the discrimination Spinner faced, or the CRC âlosing supportâ without being declared illegal. I think the manga itself is against judging people by their quirks, but itâs interesting that it doesnât make its characters into mouthpieces to say as much. This is because its characters are thoroughly enmeshed in a society that very much does judge people by their quirks, regardless of whether or not it will say that doing so is bad or rude or prejudiced.           Re-Destro and the MLA arenât immune, of courseâRe-Destro himself says that quirks are linked to personalityâbut they adhere to a different set of values than the larger society does. While Hero Society talks about quirks in terms of being heroic and/or useful versus villainous and/or useless, the MLA spectrums instead emphasize how capable a personâs quirk is of helping them exert their will and how ambitious the quirkâs bearer is in that exertion. That is, their ethics are less about morality and utility-to-society than they are about aspiration and utility-to-self.[5] Both worldviews have their pros and cons, but that, I think, is what the childrenâs book is getting at when it says not to âjudgeââdonât assign an arbitrary moral value to a quirk; judge a person by their actions.           And isnât it interesting, that the only explicit verbal statement of that value comes from the leader of a radical cult descended from a famous insurrectionist quoting a childrenâs book published by a member of selfsame radical cult? The value is not ever stated by a member of the heroic cast, so are we to assume that the heroes don't actually believe it? Do people profess to believe it but everyone knows itâs only for courtesyâs sake, with only the MLA willing to breach that wall of âthings we donât talk about in polite societyâ to actually talk about it in anything other than platitudes? Obviously, you lose this entire line of discussion when the "don't judge people by their quirks" value is just never mentioned at all.
⢠The phrase, âIn that case,â from RDâs, âYou will never measure up to me.â It establishes continuity to what RD was saying before. Heâs not taking breaks from talking while Shigaraki has flashbacks; the two are happening concurrently.
⢠RDâs, âCracking apartâŚ?â reaction to his Decayed fingertip, and the dripping blood from the injury. Iâm not hugely fussed about the former, but I like the latter as indicative of what Re-Destroâs Stress powers actually do. That is to say, he isnât covering himself in a thick shell of Stress power or something; his Stress powers make him physically larger, infusing his body and swelling his size. Thatâs why he bleeds when Shigaraki touches his fingertip.           Admittedly, the size distinction was more obvious in the anime, where the audience watched RDâs shoulders inflate like balloons last episode, compared to the manga, where you donât get in-between animation. Still, given that RD still has that wound even when he goes back down to normal size, and is still wearing bandages for his speech a week later,[6] itâd be nice to mark the severity of the wound with a bit of blood. Oddly, the anime did keep the wound for the crater scene, visible red slices opened in the flesh along the length of his finger, very obviously the sort of injury that would have bled upon being first sustained. Maybe RD ran afoul of whatever the studio mandate is on when Decay has a dust effect and when it leaves gore? (More of that later.)
⢠Shigarakiâs, âMother!â for the first panel we see of her. Itâs obvious enough who she probably is, but odd that we got a whole bunch of narration for Hana, and likewise an acknowledgment of his grandparents, but not even a single word for Nao.
⢠Very significantly drops the grandfatherâs, âEating yummy things helps make the sadness go away.â Grandpaâs not just randomly handing Tenko his favorite snack in that memoryâheâs trying to treat some kind of grief or wrong without actually addressing the wrong, opting to just put a flavorful band-aid on it. That could be fine if it were something outside Grandpaâs control, but weâve already gotten some early hints from Hanaâs phrasing that things are not okay in the household, and thus the grandfatherâs attempt to bribe Tenko with sweets is just as ominous a sign of whatâs to come as the grandmotherâs attempt to guilt him into not crying lest he make her cry too.
⢠A little shot of Shigaraki stirring in the rubble when RD answers the phone. Itâs a nice demonstration of their size difference, especially comparing both of them to Machia, who we just saw tearing through buildings like the kaiju his theme music declares him to be.
Framing Shifts
⢠When Shigaraki narrates that Hana always took him by the hand when he got weepy, she actually does take his hand in the manga, her fingers wrapped around his, his clasped over hers. It emphasizes that this is what he canât do anymore, simply hold hands with people, the innocence lost aspect, and it suggests the closeness he once had with his sister.           In the anime, she reached out a hand but wound up taking him by the wrist instead, his hand splayed open beneath hers. This suggested, albeit very implicitly, that maybe that innocence was something he never had from the beginning; it also suggested less reciprocity in his relationship with Hana. Even though Tomura said in narration that their hands were joined, what we saw was that Hana just pulled him where she wanted him and he didnât fight her on it, not that he held her hand in return.           Alternatively, the anime could have been drawing a parallel to how her hand would eventually be gripping his wrist in a much different context (a more necrotic one, for starters) later in life, though if that's what they were going for, they could have stood to tweak the dialogue so it actually matched the onscreen action. (Credit to @robotlesbianjavert and @aysall respectively for these two theories!)
⢠Shigaraki still having his fingers when Re-Destro squeezed his hand made RD look like a real moron. I assume the intention was that he assumed heâd done enough damageâbroken bones, torn ligaments, etcâto prevent Shigaraki from being able to move his hand in more than spastic twitches, but like, if all it takes is a hard enough spasmodic clench to dust you, you are playing much riskier games than the MLA is generally portrayed as favoring. (Not that the anime kept many of the scenes that demonstrated all the planning and prep that the MLA did as groundwork for their attack, as I have complained about at length.)           In the same sequence, Anime!RD turned and bodily hurled Shigaraki away from him, while Manga!RD threw him a similar distance with nothing more than a flick of a finger. Anime, why you gotta make Re-Destro look so lame all the time?
Additions
⢠Just one episode prior, the anime managed to turn in an entirely reasonable assemblage of swiping and dodging between Shigaraki and Re-Destro while RD was rambling on about the Mother of Quirks. What the hell was the excuse for this episodeâs ridiculous shot of Shigaraki literally running circlesâbig, broad circlesâaround RD multiple times in the time it took RD to finish one (1) thought? For heavenâs sake, if you donât have the budget for flashy, just use slow motion or more flashback animation or something. I know thereâs more leeway for long thoughts in manga, where the reader understands that thoughts are moving far faster than action, and that it can be hard to bridge that gap for anime, where motion is motion but voice acting still has to rattle its way to the end of a sentence. I understand that measures have to be taken to account for that. Still, I promise, something that just looks a bit padded is much preferable to something that looks outright dumb.
⢠I admit to having found huge Stress monster RD pulling out a teeeeeny-tiny cellphone very funnyâeven more so the distinct cracking sound it made when Skeptic reported in bad news and RDâs fingers tightened infinitesimallyâbut the manga suggests fairly strongly that RDâs just answering on some kind of earpiece or micro-receiver, the same kind of thing Ujiko hands out and that Skeptic is associated with on multiple occasions. Itâd be nice if RD could have kept more of the jokes he actually makes, the ones that stem from his native good humor, rather than the anime making up new ones based entirely in the contrast of Re-Destro and the viewerâs expectations of Re-Destro.
Chapter 235 â Shimura Tenko: Origin
⢠The man at the door, whom Nao is apologizing to at the beginning of the Tenko flashback and the apparent reason Tenko got busted for playing hero. I donât love the way deleting this obscured that Tenko, in some fashion, troubled someone to lead to Kotarou dragging him down the hall (the anime also dropped Kotarouâs subsequent line, âCausing trouble?!â thatâs supposed to supplement his, âPlaying hero again?â), but itâs not like the manga doesnât imply that the same thing would happen for any hero-based rules infraction, regardless of whether it troubled strangers or not. No, the much, much funnier thing to me is how it just fuckinâ torpedoed the most obvious thing people point to when they posit that All For One gave Tenko Decay, kicking off the entire tragedy: the man at the door with the conspicuously shadowed face and the even more conspicuously AFO-like suit and dress shirt with the top button unfastened.           Listen, I hate that theory and what it would do to the narrative of Shigaraki Tomura/Shimura Tenko as Hero Societyâs long-overdue reckoning, the villain they canât put down and the victim they canât silence, so watching the anime summarily cut out the scene that really kicked the theory into overdrive was very validating! Conversely, I still can't deny that it's a plausible theory, so if it does turn out to be true, that means the anime shot itself in the foot on the most obvious bit of foreshadowing this side of AFO addressing Tenko by name when he finds him in the alley. The schadenfreude of that would also be very funny. Really, unlike every other cut this season, I regard this one as win-win for my personal experience with the anime.           Incidentally, I was very prepared to complain about the anime dropping all the changes of clothes the Shimura family goes through over the course of the flashbackâI regard the timelapse as one of the major points against the AFO Gave Tenko Decay theory, since itâs never taken a quirk bestowed by AFO multiple days, maybe even multiple weeks, to kick in beforeâbut it turns out Iâm a lot less bothered about them not taking the time to change the side charactersâ clothes when the anime also deletes the dude at the door who is the only reason I care about clarity re: how much time the flashback covers! But just for the record, while they had more outfits than I was expecting them to, the family did go through fewer changes of clothes in the anime than in the manga.
⢠The full echo of the line about kids being sneaky and simple in favor of Narrator!Shigaraki just letting out this exhausted, rueful, âAhhh, kids areâŚâ I actually rather like it. Itâs a clear reference back to the earlier line without having to restate the whole thing, and Uchiyama Koukiâs delivery is really excellent.
⢠Kotaroâs first slap of Tenko, the only one directly portrayed on-panel, and Mon-chanâs barking in response. On the one hand, I think thereâs an argument to be made for the scene flowing a bit better like thisâwhy wouldnât Grandpa try to stop him from going for that second slap; why wouldnât Nao pass Hana off to Grandma and do something instead of just standing there yelling for the entire scene? It makes a bit more sense if theyâre hesitant to intervene because Kotarou has âonlyâ grabbed at Tenkoâs collar and they donât yet know how that itâs going to escalate to naked physical violence in a way that it never has before.           On the other hand, that first slap is so visceral and shocking. Nowhere else in the manga is domestic violence portrayed more sharply and directly, in greater detail or more cruelly generous panel space than in this moment. Itâs in the difference in size between Kotarou and Tenko, the force behind the hit thatâs enough to knock Tenko clear off his feet, the pages upon pages of gut-churning lead-up to this moment and what we know will be following soon after.           Also too, it makes the familyâs failure to help Tenko much worse that no one else acts when Kotarou pulls back for a second hit. The first one, you could almost excuse because no one saw it coming; the second throws those justifications out the window and spits on them afterward. Two hits are importantânot only for what they tell Tenko in the moment about his family's inaction, but because two hits speak in ways one hit doesn't to how wildly uneven the power balance is in the house, that Nao and her parents could witness something like that and not only fail to intercede, but then take who knows how long to work up the courage to confront Kotarou afterwards.           I understand very well the fear of showing this in a family TV timeslotâthe violence is so much more real than any big fantasy beat-âem-up could ever beâbut itâs the kind of thing that really drives home what Tenko needed to be saved from even back then, a social issue that heroes as they currently exist were in no position to address. Far from demonstrating that heroes aren't at fault for what happened to Tenko, though, what this scene truly does is vividly illustrate the flaws in All Might's social contract, in which his power and smile seem to promise that he can save absolutely everyone, only to leave children like Tenko out in the cold with no explanation as to why. It's brutal because it has to be, and the anime shying away from depicting Kotarou's physical abuse undercut that.
Framing Shifts
⢠There was a bizarre, nonsensical change to the scene at the beginning of the chapter where RD is figuring out how Shigaraki survived/got back up after taking a Burden attack head-on. The mangaâs explanation is that Shigaraki didnât actually take a full force hit because he was Decaying it even as it was blowing him back. This is somewhat silly, given that even a reduced-strength Burden is still strong enough to put him through multiple buildings. It is, however, less silly than the animeâs take, in which Shigaraki touched Re-Destro rather than the corporealized Stress of Burden. How Re-Destro survived a full-fingered touch from Shigarakiâs completely uninjured right hand[7] went totally unexplained; the problem was then compounded by Re-Destro delivering manga-accurate lines about Burden not being an evadable attack despite âevasionâ having nothing to do with Shigarakiâs actions.           Anime!Shigaraki didnât dodge the Burden attack any more than Manga!Shigaraki did; unlike Manga!Shigaraki, however, Anime!Shigaraki also did nothing to reduce the impact of the attack. So not only was how Shigaraki survived the Burden attack not explained, the change to the material also opened up the plot hole of how Re-Destro survived a direct touch attack that Shigaraki in the manga never lands.
⢠There was also an extremely weird decision made to give Tenko dark, gray-blue eyes, obviously reminiscent of Nanaâs, and suggest that they became red at the same time as his hair was changing to white. But in the manga, other than the size, thereâs no difference between young Tenkoâs eyes and how Shigarakiâs eyes have always been drawnâan unshaded iris with a visible pupil and a relatively thick line delineating the iris from the white of the sclera. Tenkoâs eyes never matched those of anyone else in his family, least of all his dark-eyed grandmother. His hair changed color because of a trauma response,[8] but his eyes were always red.
⢠Relocated Shigarakiâs first, âLittle kidsâŚare sneakier than youâd expect. And simpler,â to underscore Hana showing him Nanaâs picture in the study, squarely centering the line on her. And like, yes, that line does get its bitter echo later when Hana panics in the face of her fatherâs fury and throws the blame onto Tenkoâbut that line isnât just about her; itâs also about what Tenko wanted to hear from the other adults in his life. It didnât matter that his father didnât approve; if he could get at least one adult to say he could be a hero, to take his side, then he could feel vindicated.           Itâs a childâs sneaky, simple reasoning: if an adultâs words are absolute, you just have to get one (1) adult to agree with you. Itâs asking Dad if you can do something you donât think Mom will agree to, and then going to Mom with Dadâs permission held defensively in-hand. Laying the line over Hana obscures that itâs as much about Tenkoâs craving for external validation as it is Hanaâs (entirely understandable) deceitful streak.
⢠After half a season full of internal monologue being voiced aloud even when it made little sense to do so, the anime decided to render clearly talk-bubbled dialogueâTenkoâs chatting at Mon about how he feels like he could take on the worldâas internal monologue instead. Who talks to their animals in their heads when they could be talking at them directly like pet owners the world over?
Additions
⢠Added a few extra stills of Kotarou rebuking Tenko and dragging him around. I donât think theyâre inaccurate to the situation, though I wonder if it really needed to be underlined two more times than the manga did. Maybe they were trying to make up in advance for deleting the first slap?
⢠Added a few new stills of Nana and child!Kotarou. They hurt my soul and I love them without reservation.
Chapter 236 â Shimura Tenko: Origin, Part 2
⢠Hanaâs second apology. What needs to get across was communicated with her first apology, but I do think the second one adds some naturalism to the dialogue. It feels very normal for a child feeling extremely guilty to apologize multiple times, like the more times they say it, the more true/convincing it will become.
⢠A bit of Tenkoâs internal monologueâthinking Hanaâs name, and Monâs, and that he canât talk. The anime slipped some attempts at verbalizing âMonâ into the dialogue, and it was painfully obvious just from listening to him gag and choke that he was too horror-struck to get words out, in ways that would be a little harder to convey on the page. Also, he thinks again that he canât talk just as Hana runs away, so it gets across regardless. No real complaints here.
⢠Some thoughts about how heâs itchy, which, given what his itch represents (or at least what he thinks it does), they probably should have kept for continuityâs sake.
⢠Tenkoâs last, âHana-chan!â just as he grabs for her. I can imagine it having just that little bit more desperate impact, especially given Sekine Arisaâs great delivery of the first âHana-chan!â but his delivery of the first one was greatâweeks later, I can still remember it clearlyâso itâs not a snip Iâm inclined to doomsay about.
⢠Hanaâs verbalization as the Decay hits her. Given that they kept Mon-chanâs last whimper, itâs kind of inconsistent not to keep this. Itâs grueling, sure, but no more so than the rest of the horror show shortly to follow.
⢠An echo of Naoâs defense of Kotarouâs anti-hero stance. Frankly, I think anime already over-indulges in echoing dialogue weâve heard not ten minutes prior, so I donât mind losing thisâin the manga, the moments would have fallen in different chapters, so it makes more sense to squeeze in the little reminder, but that wasnât necessary for the anime, in which the original moment and the callback happened barely more than five minutes apart. It was obvious what the mental image was meant to draw attention to, since Tomura was narrating about exactly what his grievance was, and the image was followed by the two equivalent moments with the grandparents. (Admittedly, it hurt that correlation a bit that Grandpaâs line about the ohagi being intended to make the sadness go away got cut, but the sentiment was pretty clear from the manâs expression of nervy, abashed guilt regardless.)
⢠The line of Decay that splits Naoâs eye, one of the more vividly horrific little grace notes in the chapter. It undercut the grotesquerie just the tiniest bit, but the sceneâs grotesque as-is, so I can understand that slight edit for TV standards. The discrepancy between Decay-to-dust and Decay-to-gore, discussed below in Framing Shifts, was much more damaging.
⢠A shot of Kotarou just after he hits Tenko with the tree pruning shears in which he looks, briefly, incredibly distraught, like heâs just realized what a monster heâs become. The anime didnât make the slightest of attempts to keep that spasm of horror, grief, and regret, and thus lost that last moment of sympathy for a man deeply traumatized by a heroic characterâs actions. Itâs my only complaint about Anime!Kotarou, who I was otherwise far more pleased with than I was afraid might be the case, but itâs a complaint I must register nonetheless.
⢠A bit of inarticulate yelling before Tenko screams, âYou... Die!!â It helps get across Tenkoâs rage overflowing, to have that wordless garble before he can actually wrap words around it. He was still having trouble talking, too, so it makes sense that his first vocalization would just be a long, incomprehensible screech. That said, with the music there to supplement the mood in a way the manga would lack, I donât think the animeâs rendition of the scene suffered overmuch from its absence.
Framing Shifts
⢠The anime, of course, has always gone the dust route for Decay because Decay is a little too gruesome for family hour TV, and anyway, when Tomura gets as fast with Decay as he is in Deika, he really is just insta-dusting people, such that not even blood remains. But he wasnât that fast or that thorough as a child, hence why itâs all so much gorierâand it needs to be, because itâs hard to imagine Hana freaking out like she does if all she sees is a pile of dust instead of, well, dog gobbets. (Also, if his family had gone the dust route, it would have been very hard to convince the audience that Tomuraâs hands are his family hands and not fakes provided to AFO by Ujiko.)           This obviously put the anime in a difficult spot, but apparently the decision they settled on wasâto not decide? Everyone we saw in the active process of decaying decayed into dust as usual, but then once they were done decaying, once that transition from person to ruin was complete, there were all these heaps of gore everywhere. It was a very strange and distracting inconsistency that hurt the scene much more than any of the nearly invisible cuts, and I hope the blu-rays will change it.
⢠Added Grandpa catching Grandma as she staggered at the sight of things in the yard. Since his body language in the manga (the only non-Decayed shot of him in the sequence) has him leaned more forward, like heâs still halfway through running towards the kids, I thought this was a nice little touch on why he stopped, for reasons other than just the obvious.
                                                         ---
Episode 111 was about half of a really strong episode. Most of my complaints about the Shimura Family flashback are very minor, and most of the ones that are less minor are still easy to overlook when the rest of the presentation was so strong. Unfortunately, the non-flashback half of the episode had as many problems as ever, and those aren't over yet.
Come back next time for Part Five, Episode 112: Origin: Shigaraki Tomura. Assuming my complaining about the finalized gutting of Spinner's arc doesn't get too out of handâwhich it may; if so, I'll tack on one final part to wrap things upâI'll also be running down a quick overview of the Paranormal Liberation Front scenes in the Endeavor Agency arc and some various odds & ends.
FOOTNOTES
[1] Yes, I know the Skeptic Confronts Twice scene goes nowhere, but maybe, instead of deleting it, they could have patched it up by showing Skeptic turning away from the confrontation when the tower went down? You know, actually made an effort to improve on the material?
[2] Bakugou, of course, but also Inko, Kotarou, and, very prominently, even All Might. Deku circa MVA has an entire arc lying in wait for him about how much heâs internalized All Mightâs paternalism re: having the strongest quirk.
[3] Indeed, as of the scene in the crater, he still hadnât lost them at all! He had his prosthetic by the time of the speech, so I guess weâre meant to assume that Ujiko or some MLA doctor declared them past saving and amputated them. I hope I donât need to tell you how unbelievably lame it is to have a shounen manga character sustain a permanent injury like that off-panel.
[4] Itâs the pointy nose.
[5] That, at least, is the best way Iâve found to reconcile all the related-but-distinct values professed by the various members of the MLA brass, from Re-Destroâs focus on liberation and purpose, what exactly Trumpet chooses to cite when heâs talking about Spinner not âamountingâ to anything much, Getenâs open extolling of quirk supremacy, and so on.
[6] In the first big double-page spread. Oddly, no bandaging is visible in the other panel that has a good shot of that hand, possibly because Horikoshi was more focused on drawing RDâs empty pant leg. The anime kept the obvious wound during the crater scene, but not the bandages during the speech.
[7] I assume, anyway, that Re-Destro only survives Shigarakiâs first touch because itâs a weaker Decay, coming as it does from only from two fingers rather than five.
[8] The fabled Marie Antoinette Syndrome. Never been scientifically documented as such (hair can whiten because of extreme stress, but not overnight) but it endures in fiction because itâs pleasingly dramatic. Trauma-based eye-color changes, not so much.

Hi ^^ I've recently found ur blog and read ur meta. Ur analysis is great! I'm kinda new here but I've seen so many ppl talk about Levi's guidebook page, referring to it as "the confirmation of what Levi was solely fighting for in the final battle i.e revenge by fulfilling the promise" I'm sorry if this has been pointed out before but as a Levi fan who believes otherwise, I'd love to read ur interpretation. Also u also believe the GB is implying this? I think ppl are having the wrong impression.
Hi! :) Thank you so much! I am glad you liked my meta! English is not my first language, so I try my best to express what I want to say.
Almost everyone agrees that the final guidebook is just an ABSOLUTE hot garbage! xD At this point that no one is taking seriously anymore! xD It straight up contradicts what happens in the manga, has VERY reductive and nonsensical descriptions of the characters and is FULL of errors.
The main reason to why many people have issues with Leviâs part (apart from it having nothing new or because it mainly focused on the promise) is one word that was used in the text that has been translated by some biased people into âobsessedâ.
I asked 3 Japanese people (including my teacher) about the word that was used in the text and the meanings that I was given were: (be) dedicated to; have an uncompromising commitment to ; to really focus on; to be determined to; etc. From what I understood, this term is always a headache as it truly depends on what the writer wants to convey and what it âfeelsâ right in the context. "Obsessedâ is like, the most reductive reading of that word, and it's the exact word that Er_ris chose to use xD
Japanese is often qualified as vague, and it CAN leave room for interpretation. For example, the word (ăăă) Isayama used to say Levi was the opposite of Rorschach could mean "pretty" or "clean" based on the context, but here's the thing: Rorschach is notoriously ugly, so it makes sense that Isayama meant that Levi is "pretty" (and it IS officially translated to "pretty" ), but I have seen MANY Japanese people say that Isayama meant "clean" not âprettyâ! This word meaning in the text literally and solely depended on Isayama's intention even causing translators to get confused and translate it to âprettyâ! If we look at the context of Leviâs character description in the last gb, the last line mentions that after his final mission, Levi âmeets his friends with a calm heartâ. Why would Levi be able to meet his friends with a âcalm heartâ if his entire arc was about him being âobsessedâ with a personal goal and revenge?! Is this why he salutes them and they salute him back in the final chapter?! I am 100% sure that the word âobsessedâ was not the one that the person who wrote the description wanted to use.
Now letâs stop talking about language translation and focus on Levi in the manga xD Is the gb version Levi the same Levi whom Isayama described as "as an existence more superior to myself" during Leviâs statue reveal just last March?!
You know, when I asked my native Japanese teacher to help me translate Isayama's statement about Levi, she sent me a 4 minute voice note breaking down the terms Isayma used and explaining how much respect the person speaking (Isayama) has for the person he's talking about (Levi). I was embarrassed to tell her that the person heâs speaking about is actually a fictional character lol
Isyama used é ăŽä¸ăăăŞă which literally means âcanât raise someoneâs headâ but it actually means âcanât raise someoneâs head in front someone else for how much respect they have for this personâ
Now letâs look at Leviâs actions in the manga to see if we can reach to the same conclusion.
Levi is one of, if not the most, perceptive characters in SNK. In one the official short stories, he was described as a person who is able to âknow the true nature of Manâ. For Levi, Zeke is a man who cheered with satisfaction as he threw rocks through fifteen year olds. Heâs the person who nonchalantly explained to Levi the process of gassing an entire village of unsuspecting civilians and flinging them into an eternal nightmare in order to weaponize their bodies. Zekeâs manipulations are the origin of almost all of Paradisâ problems, whether itâs encouraging Marley to ramp up aggressions or pulling shady shit with Kiyomi, Yelena and the Jaegerists that destabilizes their already vulnerable island. And whatâs worse - because weâre reading a story where torn-up characters are often excused by circumstances of coercion or perceived necessity - he doesnât care. He feels no remorse. He wants to do this. Levi doesnât know Zekeâs ultimate reasoning of course, but he recognized through the smoke of the campfire a man who doesnât give a fuck about the wishes and agency of others. Who will force his own will on a race of humans and call it mercy. AND YET, Levi stays with him for A WHOLE MONTH in the forest bringing him books, drinks and a pillow to sit on. He keeps asking him about what happened in Connieâs village trying over and over to understand him. And then the guy transforms Leviâs own teammates in front of him, forces him to kill them and taunts him with their suffering. Levi perceives a person whoâs arrogant enough to consider his cruelty compassion as he decides whether the lives of their children are worth living.YET, Levi decided to keep him alive because he believed that it is whatâs the best for Paradis; a decision that eventually caused Leviâs severe injuries and the activation of the Rumbling!
During the final battle, Levi offered to act as a bait for Mikasa so she can try to bring back Armin and risks his life TWICE to save Jean and Connie risking his chances to ever fulfill his promise to Erwin.
Please tell me now that these are actions of an âobsessedâ man who is only focused on killing Zeke and revenge.
The first time Levi mentions the vow after the time skip, he says: âErwin, I think I will be finally able to fulfill the vow I made to you that day. Your deathS had meaning. At last I will be able to prove itâ Levi clearly associates giving meaning to his comradesâ deaths WITH fulfilling his vow to Erwin. This is the line that proves that the vow has always meant something more.
Levi made a promise that came to represent the fulfillment of the goal all his former Survey Corps comrades laid down their lives for. Slaying the Beast Titan took on symbolic stature, a tangible way of giving their sacrifices meaning - especially in a world where the circumstances had drastically shifted and enemies, allies, and other were suddenly seen from a completely different perspective.
In Ch. 136, Levi remembers his friends and reflects upon their sacrifices and what they meant. They did not sacrifice their lives to âtrample the lives and hearts of othersâ.
We never got a SINGLE panel in which he says that he fulfilled his promise! In the last apparition of his fallen comrades, Erwin isnât even in the center. He salutes his fallen comrades for devoting their hearts for humanity and they salute him back for honoring their sacrifices.
If there is one thing that Levi was âobsessedâ about, it is him trying to give meaning to the deaths and sacrifices of the people who truly devoted their hearts to humanity and whom he truly loved

Keys to the Kingdom Preview
So I'm having... a fucking week. Between the Smash reveal and a number of other IRL things, focusing on this chapter has been a bit... tricky. But here's a bit of what I've managed to write so far, enjoy more of Sora interacting with the Mystery Twins idk why but these interactions are really easy and really fun to write ahahah ^_^
***
âOk,â he says, much to the twinsâ shared relief. âI⌠guess I can make some time to stick with you guys a little while longer.â A little while longer before he can give the heirloom back to Bill, before he can get the reward he so desperately craves. Before he can finally be free.
And really, after waiting this long for that freedom, certainly he can afford to wait just a little bit more.
âThanks, Sora!â Mabel exclaims warmly, bounding ahead to join her brother. âSee, Dipper?â she whispers to him, aside. âI told you we could trust him!â
âSeeing as how heâs the only person we know who can actually get rid of those monsters, it's not like we really have too much of a choiceâŚâ Dipper says, though he wears a smile all the same. âBut⌠I guess you werenât wrong. This time, anyway.â
Sora swallows hard when he happens to overhear this, the sizable knot of guilt already settled in his stomach tightening to an almost oppressive degree. Whatever trust either of the twins might have for something is something he knows he hasnât earned, something he definitely doesnât deserve after what heâs just done. As he trails a few paces behind them, his hand drifts down to his pocket, to the heirloom, to reveal his crimes and come clean like he knows he should. And yet⌠at the same time, he knows he canât. Not when this is perhaps the last and only chance he has at turning the tide, at undoing whatâs been done, at saving his own life. Certainly, if Dipper and Mabel knew just what heâs up against, if they knew everything heâs already lost and still stands to lose, then theyâd understand the lengths heâs taking to finally stop it all⌠wouldnât they?
âHey, Sora?â Mabel pipes up, pulling out of his fretful thoughts as they venture back into the woods. The dark path ahead is only sparsely illuminated by the flashlight Dipper had grabbed back at the shack, though that light does little to chase away the oddly ominous aura the forest carries at night. Or at least, an aura thatâs even more ominous than the one that had filled it during the day. âIâve been wanting to ask you for awhile now: whatâs that Key thing that Xamnams guy wants you to get so badly?â
âOh yeah, I was wondering about that too,â Dipper glances back at the older boy. âIs it the same key you fought those monsters with, or is it something different?â
âOh, um, yeah, itâs different,â Sora nods, more than happy for the distraction this kind of conversation can serve his troubled mind. âItâs a special kind of Key thatâs one out of thirteen that my--I-I mean his master has been looking for. And if they get their hands on it first⌠letâs just say something really⌠bad could happen.â
âWait, so that guy isnât actually your boss?â Mabel asks.
No, of course heâs not, Sora thinks, though the words refuse to leave his mouth. A small burst of pain constricts around his heart, one that feels far too familiar to the point that he doesnât even think twice about where it could be coming from. That same pain bars him from saying what he really wants to, though this time, it doesnât force him to say something else against his will. What heâs able to get out instead is still far from anything substantial though. âUh⌠w-well, heâs my⌠I-I, uh⌠Itâs-â
âLet me guess,â Dipper cuts in knowingly. âItâs something else thatâs âcomplicatedâ, isnât it?â
The most Sora can do is nod, rubbing his arm as he apprehensively glances away from the twins. Mabelâs quick to fill in the newfound silence, however, with a small coo of curious fascination. âOoo, Sora, youâre such a complex guy!â she grins, a smile that turns a touch coy as she twirls a lock of her hair playfully. âYa know Iâve always had a thing for men of mystery.â
Naturally, Sora still isnât quite sure of how to respond to the younger girlâs persistent brand of âuniqueâ flirting. Fortunately, he doesnât have to as Dipper dryly interrupts. âWhat, you mean like that âmysteriousâ guy you dated who turned out to be a bunch of gnomes stacked on top of each other?â he asks, flashing his sister a bit of a teasing smirk.
âYeesh, I accidentally go out with some creepy gnomes one time and suddenly I never hear the end of it,â Mabel huffs, rolling her eyes. âAt least I didnât spend the entire summer desperately crushing on someone whoâs waaaay too old for me.â
âSays the girl whoâs literally doing that right now,â Dipper retorts, catching Mabel in the middle of the affectionate wave sheâs sending Soraâs way.
â...And your point is?â
As the twinsâ next round of insincere bickering kicks off, Sora does his best to try and focus on it, only for his thoughts to drift internally once more. As far as he knows, Xemnas, or any other Organization member for that matter, isnât anywhere in the immediate vicinity, so how does their power still have such a restrictive hold on him, to the point that he canât even speak freely? Has he really fallen so far under their sway that he can be forced to do their bidding from a distance? Does he really have so little freedom left that heâs bound to obey them even when not a single one of them is around?
Itâs a grim, downright horrifying thought, a reality he knows he ultimately canât escape from, at least not on his own. He draws in a steadying breath as he gently pats the pocket the glass globe is resting in, shuddering as he feels another wave of its palpable power wash over him. Regardless of whatever it is that globe actually holds, right now, it also holds all of his once-faded hopes, his nearly-dead dreams, his last chance at living the life he longs to lead instead of the life thatâs fallen apart all around him. And all itâll take for him to finally get that life is to take that globe back to its rightful owner, to give it back to Bill so that Bill can give him back everything heâs lost in return.
So thatâs exactly what heâll do. No matter how uncertain his mind and heart alike still are of whether or not he should.
#hahaha sora is having a moral crisis what else is new#dont steal kids stealing is wrong and it gives you Guilt#jen writes#keys to the kingdom#keys preview

You couldnât recall a time you had woken up earlier than nine a.m. in the past month.
In all honesty, you had considered just sleeping in until the very last minute scramble to get dressed, rush out the door, and get back before Dustin got home.
Unfortunately that plan could not be executed as your mother woke you up, knowing you well enough that she could predict your plans.
And that was why you were at the mall at 10 a.m., your gaze focused on the floor as you made the trek over to Scoops Ahoy. Surprisingly, there was a small line in the shop, considering it wasnât even lunchtime yet.
As you finally stood at the counter and lifted your head, Steve visibly relaxed, his âcustomer serviceâ persona fading. âOh thank god, itâs just you,â he sighed, leaning against the counter.
âJust little olâ me,â you hummed, absentmindedly rubbing at your eye. âGod, has the day already gone to shit for you, Steve?â
âWell, heâs already struck out twice if thatâs any indication,â Robin piped up, peeking through the window that peered into the back area.
âTwice? Didnât you guys open just an hour ago?âÂ
âDonât rub it in,â Steve huffed, a frown sinking onto his features.
âFine, fine.â
You and Steve had grown close in the past six months, sharing a special bond that you honestly needed. Though you couldnât decide if the bond grew from him literally saving your life, or from your significant others (well, for Steve at least) dating each other rather than you two. Both, probably.
âAre you here to order something or just to bully me?â he spoke finally, pulling his ice cream scooper from his makeshift-holster.Â
âRight, right. Just a pint of cookie dough and a pint of strawberry,â you instructed, pulling a ten out of your pocket.
He nodded and began scooping the two pints of ice cream. âWhoâs the cookie dough for?â
âDustin.â
He looked up at you, his brows furrowed in confusion. âHeâs coming back today?â
âYeah!â
He sealed the lid of the cookie dough pint. âNo one tells me anything!â
You rolled your eyes. âSteve, I told you this two days ago.â
You heard Robin let out a laugh in the back room and Steve pressed his lips into a line. âDo you want ice cream or not?!â
You laughed. âCome on, you know youâd never deprive your two favorite people of ice cream.â
He rolled his eyes and finished up the second pint, sliding both of them over to you as you handed him the $10 bill. âDo you work today?â
âUnfortunately. Iâm just hoping Iâll be home before dark tonight because theyâve been fucking keeping me for hours after closing.â
âDoesnât the pool close at like five?â
âYup,â you huffed, popping the âp.â âAnd, to top it all off, Iâm stuck with Heather  and Billy today.â
The two of you cringed simultaneously. âCanât say Iâd rather be you.â
âThanks for the support.â You took the change from Steve and stuffed it into your pocket before cradling both pints of ice cream in your arms. âWell, I gotta drop these off at home and then sit in the sun for a few miserable hours. Iâll call you when I get home.â
***
Your soul nearly left your body when a chorus of screams erupted in the kitchen as soon as you stepped in the front door. They fell silent a moment later, though, and a voice echoed out, âOh, itâs just you.â
With a hand clutched over your chest, you rolled your eyes. âSorry to disappoint you guys with my presence, but can we avoid killing me the next time you see me?â you huffed, still struggling to take in a proper breath.
We thought you were Dustin,â Lucas explained, a party blower between his teeth.
âYeah, I figured.â You brushed past the group and put the ice cream in the freezer. âCan someone make sure that Dustin gets his ice cream? I wonât be able to see him until later tonight.â
âI can,â Will spoke up, raising his hand in the air.
âFinally, someone I can count on.â You grabbed the drawstring bag that held all of your items and slung it over your shoulder. âHowâs Jonathan enjoying his job at the newspaper?â
There was a small silence. âYou havenât talked to him about it?â Mike spoke up, and Max swatted his arm.
You shook your head, the healing scratch on your eye beginning to burn slightly. âNo, not yet. Weâve, uh... Weâve both been too busy. We havenât talked in a couple of weeks.â More like a month.
There was another silence before Will spoke. âHe likes it. He has the dark room all to himself,â he explained, his voice gentle and hesitant.
âGood. Thatâs good. Tell him I said hi, or something.â You cleared your throat before turning to the group and giving them a smile. âI gotta head to work. You guys have fun, okay?â
***
God, you felt like vomiting.
Everything seemed to be going wrong today, like you forgetting to bring your sunscreen and sunglasses, Billy and Heatherâs constant pestering and gossiping, Billy ignoring his job so he could flirt with Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. Wheeler completely ignoring you so she could flirt with Billy, the dozens of kids that had coined multiple nicknames for you and your scar, and the 101 degree temperature that was unrelenting.
Luckily, though, the day was close to coming to an end. Most of the crowd had thinned, excluding a couple of kids who spent the whole day there anyways and adults who insisted on lingering until they absolutely had to leave.Â
The shriek of a whistle startled you from your thoughts, your head slipping from your hand and making you lurch forward slightly. A group of muffled cackles sounded to your right, and you rolled your eyes. âCan I help you, or are you just here to make my life a living hell,â you grumbled, snapping your gaze over to Billy and Heather.
âWell, I was gonna ask if you wanted a water, but I guess not,â Heather huffed, stubbornly crossing her arms over your chest.
You gave her a doubtful glance. âWere you really?â
She laughed. âNo. Now get up, Itâs my turn on deck.â
With a huff you stepped down the ladder and tucked your book and raft under your arm. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Billy step closer. âBilly, if you push me in the pool youâre gonna wake up with no fucking mullet tomorrow.â
The pair just laughed behind you condescendingly, and you stomped away with a scowl etched on your face.
Ever since the... altercation that occurred months ago, Billy had kept his distance from you. It was a relief, knowing that he wouldnât test your limits for the sake of his own health. But that didnât stop him from sprinkling in some teasing every single time he spoke to you.
The hot concrete stung the soles of your feet, and you picked up your pace so you could get to the office before your feet blistered.
âHey, no running!â You froze at the voice, your eyebrows knitting together in confusion. Slowly, you turned on your heel to face the source.Â
Jonathan stood behind the fence, his hands in his pockets and a shy smile on his face.
âJonathan?â you whispered, tilting your head slightly as if you were a dog.Â
âHey Y/N,â he hummed, awkwardly shifting from foot to foot.
A small smile settled on your face and you walked over to the fence, a silent sigh of relief leaving your lips when your feet settled on the grass that bordered the fence. âHey! W-What are you doing here? I thought you got out the same time that I did?â
âI do, I just uh... I wanted to go on a walk.â
You nodded. âOh, okay.â
âAnd I uh, I wanted to see you. Just see how you were doing, I mean.â
You let out a small chuckle, hooking your fingers through one of the chain links in the fence. âIâm doing good. I mean, as good as I can be sitting in the heat for five hours straight with no sunglasses. How have you been?â
âI-Iâm good. Isnât Dustin back in town?â
âHe is, he just got back today. I havenât seen him yet, though. Howâs your job at the paper going?â
âItâs good, really good. Iâm enjoying it a lot.â
âThatâs good to hear.â
The two of you stood silently, avoiding each otherâs gaze except for the spare glances youâd risk.Â
âI should get going,â Jonathan spoke finally, a hint of reluctance in his voice.Â
âRight, yeah,â you hummed, clearing your throat. âIt was good to see you, Johnny.â
âYou too.â His mouth opened as if he wanted to say more, but he decided against it, giving you an awkward wave before walking away.
You lingered there for a moment, an all-too-familiar ache in your chest as you watched him walk away from you.
***
After rinsing off, getting changed, and making a final check of the area, you were finally off for the night. You could feel your shoulders nearly weighing your entire body down and your eyelids were extremely close to falling shut at any moment. Silently, you made the trek through the parking lot and over to your car.Â
You hopped in the driverâs seat and fished your key out of your bag before putting it in the ignition and twisting.
And twisting again.
And one more time.
Shit.
You slammed your hands against the wheel and let out a groan, throwing your head back against the headrest. âOf course. Of fucking course,â you grumbled.
Then you began to weigh your options. The first idea that came to your mind was walking home, but you quickly decided against it as you were too exhausted and it was too far.Â
Your next idea was to walk over to The Hawkins Post and see if you could catch a ride with Jonathan. But you knew that wherever Jonathan was, Nancy would also be. For a moment, you contemplated swallowing your embarrassment and fear and just do it, but again, you decided against that option.
Then you thought about using the phone in the office to call Steve, but you had no idea if he was even home.
And after running through all of the ideas in your mind, you last ditch plan walked past your peripheral.
You shoved all of your disgust down and hopped out of your car, rushing to try and catch up.
âBilly!â you shouted, trying to stuff your keys back in your bag as you jogged over to him.
He stopped and turned to look at you, part-confusion and part-annoyance wrinkling his features. âWhat?â he huffed.
âCan you, um...â You shifted awkwardly, the reality of the moment catching up to you. âWould you mind giving me a ride home? My car wonât start.â
He rolled his eyes, fishing a pack of cigarettes out from his leather jacket. âYâknow, any other night Iâd love to, but Iâve actually got plans tonight. Call a tow truck or something.â
âBilly, please.â Your shoulders slumped. âI donât live that far from you.â
âWho said I was going home?âÂ
Your jaw tightened and you pulled your bag higher up on your shoulder. âIâll pay you $20. Just please.â
âWhy donât you ask your boyfriend to do it? I saw you talking to him earlier.â
âHeâs not my boyfriend! Goddammit-â You cut yourself off, taking a deep breath and scrubbing a hand over your face. â$50.â
He stood there a moment, placing a cigarette between his teeth as he silently debated it. âFine. But youâre paying me upfront.â
You bit your tongue and refrained from snapping at him, instead pulling your wallet from your bag and handing him a $50 bill. He snatched it from your fingers and shoved it in his back pocket before nodding his head over to his car and heading that way.Â
Though the anxiety from asking him was gone, it was replaced with the anxiety of being in a vehicle with a man who very clearly hated your guts. Your brain was nagging you to just walk home, but you pushed the annoying warnings away and got in the passenger seat.
Billy had exited the parking lot before you even had a chance to put on your seatbelt, the engine roaring as he tore down the empty streets. The ride was silent other than that annoying engine, his godawful music, and your heart racing so loudly and harshly that you felt as if you were about to have a heart attack.
Whether it was your panic or your swarming thoughts, you had zoned out for the first few minutes of the ride. When you finally came to, you realized that you were nowhere near your house. âDid you take a wrong turn?â you mumbled, brows furrowing confusedly.
He scoffed, pulling his lower lip between his teeth. âNo, I have an errand to run,â he explained as if you were stupid, as if you were already aware of his plans.
Oh my god, heâs gonna kill me.
You gulped, gripping onto your drawstring bag. âWhat errand?â
âWell, I had already made plans with Karen before you decided to ask for my help, so youâre tagging along.â
Your jaw dropped and you turned in your seat to face him. âYouâre making me sit in the car while you hook up with Mrs. Wheeler? You said you were gonna take me home!â
âI did, but I didnât specify when.â He was grinning from ear to ear, and you had to move your hands under your thighs so you didnât smack that look off of his face.
âYou motherfucker. Literally.â
He rolled his eyes. âShut up and get in the back seat. I don't want her seeing you.â
It was your turn to scoff. âExcuse me?âÂ
âI said-â
His words were cut off by a large object hitting the windshield, making both of you jump and causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car spun off of the road and collided into a tree on your side, making Billyâs head collide into his door and crushing your door into your body.
A slew of curses and grunts fell from your mouth as you worked your way out of the seat, feeling your ribs ache with each breath as you finally got out from between the door and the center console. You sat down on the center console and gripped onto the back of the seat for balance.
âOh, no,â Billy grumbled from beside you, eyes wide as he took in the damage. The stereo still spat out a distorted and garbled sound that resembled the music that were playing earlier as Billy tried to restart the car, to no avail. âPiece of shit.â
You finally glanced over at him. âYouâre bleeding,â you wheezed out, watching the blood drip down his forehead and into his eye.
He reached up and touched the wound, pulling away and glancing down at his fingers with disdain. âShit.â He slammed his hand against the steering wheel before shoving his door open and crawling out. You followed behind him, collapsing to the ground beside his feet. You gripped onto his arm and heaved yourself up.
Billy left your side to attempt to pry the passenger door open, only for a spew of expletives to fall from his mouth. âYeah, Iâm good, thanks for asking,â you huffed, leaning against the car and clutching your right side as he stomped past you and over to the front of the car.
âShut up,â he grumbled, leaning close to the windshield and gliding his finger along the spiderwebbed glass. What the hell?â
A strange ooze clung to his finger, stretching between his hand and the windshield with a strong elasticity. âFuck.â
A rustling in the shrubs near the building you stood by attracted both of your attention, your heart leaping to your throat.
âWhoâs there!â Billy shouted, his body standing straight up.
âI donât think itâs a who,â you grumbled, reaching for your pocket knife in your back pocket. âWhat the fuck is that supposed to mean?â
As you opened your mouth to explain, Billy fell to the ground and was lugged away by a snaking vine. You screamed, but before you could move onto the car and off of the ground, a similar vine wrapped around your legs and dragged you through the dirt

Faking It Chapter 1
Rowaelin Fake Dating High School Au
A/N: This is going to be told through Aelin and Rowanâs POVâs but will also feature other characters.Â
masterlist
Aelin Galathynius had never been this pissed off in her entire life.Â
âI need to focus on myself.âÂ
âYou can be a lot to handle sometimes.âÂ
If Aelin hadn't been so shellshocked she most definitely would've slapped that grimace off his ruggedly handsome face. Chaol Westfall and her had been dating for as long as Aelin could remember. Grade six graduation, he was there. Grade eight dance marathon, him again. First day of high school, Chaol. Junior prom night, guess fucking who.Â
Now, she was barely a week into senior year and everything was already going to shit. Itâs not that she was completely torn up about the breakup - she wasn't - it was more about her pride. Aelinâs bitchy side could not believe that she hadn't been the one to dump him first. Theyâd barely spoken to each other all summer long. Aelin had been lifeguarding at a pool on the south side of town and Chaol had been a camp counsellor on the north. Still, their friend groups crossed over in every way possible. Aelin was the head cheerleader, leader of about every committee you could think of, and as Aedion liked to call her, âQueen of Terrasen Highâ. Chaol was, you guessed it, the football team captain and starting quarter back. They were the textbook couple in every way possible. Still, despite the cheerleaders and football players hanging out nearly every night, Chaol and Aelin had barely talked. It had been that way since their huge fight on the last day of junior year. Theyâd claimed to forgive each other, but never really had. Theyâd both said some really fucked up shit. Still, Aelin couldn't bring herself to be completely regretful of what sheâd said to him.Â
âThis is a good thing A.â Her best friend Lysandra was saying beside her. âYouâre way hotter than him anyway.âÂ
Snapping back to attention, Aelin smiled. âI am aren't I.â She laughed.Â
âHell yes.â Lysandra assured her. âHe was never in your league.âÂ
Aelin laughed and threw her arm over her best friends shoulders. School was out for the day and they were heading out to meet Aedion for a drive home. Ignoring the faint anger in her gut, Aelin had to admit she felt more free. She hadn't been single since the sixth grade - save the small break her and Chaol had taken in 10th year. Aelin didn't like to ponder too much on that time in her life.Â
A blast of warm air hit her as they pushed open the heavy doors to the school. Aedionâs face broke into a wide grin as he spotted them. As soon as her and Lysandra reached him he pulled her into a bear hug. âWelcome to the world of miserable and lonely single people. Youâre gonna love it.â He messed with her hair and she groaned for him to put her down.Â
âHow the hell do you know already?â She asked.
âOh my sweet naive cousin. Everyone knows.â He smiled sympathetically.Â
âEveryone?â Aelin said, a hint of desperation in her tone.
âEveryone.â Aedion echoed. âItâs the biggest news to hit the school since, well, you and Chaol took break.â
Aelin swore under her breath. âCanât people focus on their own lives for once.âÂ
Lysandra laughed softly. âWe need to find you a rebound.â She said, bouncing on her toes. âI finally get the chance to be my best friends wingman.âÂ
âI don't want a rebound.â Aelin said frowning.Â
âWould you rather Chaol find one first. He broke up with you, youâre already losing.âÂ
Damn Lysandra. She knew that Aelin was probably the most competitive person alive and could literally never shy away from a fight.Â
âFine. Who?â She swung open the door to Aedionâs car and climbed in the back.
Lysandra clapped her hands together and joined her in the back. âHow about Fenrys Moonbeam?âÂ
Aelin shook her head back and forth. âNo way.â
âWhy?â Aedion asked. âHeâs unfairly attractive.âÂ
âYou date him then.â Aelin shot back.Â
âMaybe I will.â He smiled wickedly at her in the rearview mirror and pulled out of the parking lot.Â
âHow about Sam Cortland.â Lys suggested.Â
For a moment Aelin considered it. Despite being a year younger than her, Sam was extremely cute. His messy brown hair and constant smile didn't hurt matters.Â
âToo nice.â Aelin insisted. âIâll feel too bad about using him.âÂ
Lysandra had just begun naming someone else when their car slammed into something else. Aelinâs body lurched forward uncontrollably, head slamming into the seat in front of her.Â
âFuck!â Aedion swore. âFucking hell!â
Aelin didn't even have time to revel in the fact that Aedion had actually cursed. Instead, she surveyed her body to make sure she was alright. Lysandra appeared to be doing the same and they both exchanged weak smiles of comfort. All three of them slowly got out of the car to see who exactly they had run into.Â
Aelin was stilling rubbing at her temples when a voice sent a chill down her spine.Â
âAre you fucking kidding me Ashryver?â He said.Â
Heart racing, Aelin lifted her head slowly and met the anger filled green eyes of Rowan Whitethorn. He looked absolutely flawless in his leather jacket and white tee. His too tight jeans were ripped around the knees and cuffed just above his black combat boots. Rowanâs silver hair was messy and unkept and his tattoo was just as beautiful as ever. The vibrant green of his eyes never failed to take her off guard. Eyes that were now staring directly at her.Â
He blinked twice, the only reaction he would show, and went back to yelling at her cousin.Â
âIâm sorry man.â Aedion was saying in the background. âI didn't see you.âÂ
âItâs not his fault.â Lysandra jumped in. âWe were all distracted.âÂ
âLet me guess.â He snarled back, tone as pissed off as ever. âDiscussing the recent breakup.â Rowan was looking at Aelin now, waiting for a response.Â
âSomething like that.â She mumbled, not looking directly at him.Â
âDidn't hear that princess.â He said loudly.
âFuck off Rowan.â Aedion yelled, subtly stepping between them. âIt was accident, send me the bill for your bumper. Weâre going now.âÂ
âWhatever.â Rowan didnât look at her once. He only got back in his dented black car, flipped Aedion off, and hit the gas.Â
âCome on A.â Lysandra said softly, wrapping an arm around Aelinâs trembling form. She pulled her gently back toward their car. Aelin could feel Aedionâs gaze on her, yet for some reason she couldn't bring herself to care.Â
After a few more minutes of silent and awkward driving, Aelin couldn't bear it anymore.Â
âIâm fine guys.â She said with as much confidence as she could muster. âPlease stop looking at me like I'm a time bomb.âÂ
Lysandra laughed and smiled. âWhatever you say A.â Aelin had never been this grateful for her best friend.Â
âHow about Rowan.â Lysandra continued. Every thought left Aelinâs head and she jolted upwards in her seat.Â
âAre you insane? Are you literally fucking mental. I would get burned alive then have a conversation with him.â Aelin was practically yelling now.Â
Lysandra only shrugged. âWhatâs the one thing that hurts more than sleeping with the best friend?â She asked Aedion.Â
âSleeping with the guy you told him not to worry about.â Her cousin recited, smirking in the rearview mirror.Â
âAbsolutely not. No way in hell.â She paused. âBesides, he wouldn't even give me the time of day.â
Lys squealed. âSo youâre considering it.â
âNo.â Aelin murmured, ignoring her friendâs pointed glares.Â
âAlright.â Lysandra finally relented. âJust think on it.âÂ
âFine.â Aelin nodded, and went back to staring at nothing through the car window.Â
                           ~~~~~~~~
âLorcan!â Rowan yelled out. âWhere are you guys?âÂ
âOut back.â Came the booming yell of Lorcan Salvaterre.Â
Sighing, Rowan put his coat back on and walked through the house to the back door. Only, Fenrys greeted him, patting him on the back and moving over on the couch. âHow was your day?â His friend asked.Â
âHorrible.â Rowan admitted.Â
Fenrys stuck out his bottom lip. âHow come?âÂ
âI talked to Aelin Galathynius.âÂ
The rest of the group instantly stopped whatever conversations theyâd been having and whirled towards him. Fenrysâ eyes were blown wide open as he struggled to find the words.Â
âExplain.â Lorcan said at last, falling back in his chair. Vaughn and Gavriel were staring at him cautiously, as if he might have another breakdown. âHer cousin hit my car.â He grumbled.Â
âThe first time you speak to Aelin in nearly two years is because you crashed into her carâ Vaughn reiterates.Â
Rowan only nods. Fenrys, bless him, somehow restrains from laughing.Â
âSo do tell.â Gavriel gestures for Rowan to go into more detail.Â
âI made some comment about the breakup, she refused to look at me, I basically mocked and condescended her, and then Aedion told me to fuck off and I left.â He reached down into the cooler for a drink.Â
âUm wow.â Lorcan sighed. âNice going asshole.âÂ
Rowan just held his beer out in salute and took a long drink. He was more than ready to forget about the whole day and move on. Unfortunately, his friends seemed less inclined for his plan.Â
âThe news of their breakup is all over the school.â Fenrys told them. He had always been their number one source of gossip, considering the rest of them despised most social interaction. âGuys are already placing bets on who can sleep with her first. Cairn bet Nox 1000$ he can nail her by Dorianâs party this Friday.âÂ
Rowan tried and failed to ignore the tightening in his chest.Â
âWill she even go to that?â Gavriel posed. âDorian is Chaolâs best friend anyway.â
âSheâll be there.â Rowan blurted before he could take it back.
All eyes again flipped to him. âWhy donât you make a move Rowan?â Lorcan asked, a smirk etched onto his lips.Â
âFuck off Salvaterre. I hate the bitch.â Rowan snarled.Â
âYou didn't seem to hate her so much when -Â â Fenrys began.Â
Rowan was already up and moving before he could hear the end of the sentence. He ignored their calls of apology and to come back, instead getting into his car and pulling out. At last, he pulled into the parking space in front of his auntâs house and leaned his head against the car window.Â
It had barely been a week and his senior year was already shaping up to be a fucking mess.Â
