I know this goes against the Customer Service Canon but after three years of mostly being at home alone due to unemployment, I actually feel like it's been doing me some good being in my new customer service role where I have to be nice to people and act out being in a good mood. You know that rule about how faking a smile still releases the happy hormones? Feels kind of like that.
Like don't get me wrong, I'm still an introvert by nature so I'm exhausted when I get home. And I still get fussed at by angry patients sometimes, I still get rude people. It's not a walk in the park. But even when I wasn't working, I still ran into assholes everywhere that could ruin my day. Meanwhile being in a job where I have to interact with people and be helpful no matter what has led to me having a lot more positive interactions in a day than I've had in years. I get people expressing gratitude to me. I get to actually feel like I'm making a difference in someone's day and that I'm needed. Really feeling the pack animal dopamine that I've been deficient in for years that just isn't possible to get through the internet.

Sleepy but clingy SKZ
Masterlist
...
Bang Chan
Tumblr media
° Bang Chan doesn't get a lot of sleep, he's gone days without it and usually just stays up working while your cuddled into him dead asleep.
° So when he is tired, you force him to sleep. Because he will complain when you try to pull him away from his laptop. Even though he's fallen asleep sitting up 5 times now.
° Chan is very cute when he's sleepy and it isn't often that you get to see it, his lips are pouted and eyes are practically closed. He also tends to lean onto you when walking to bed.
° You take a couple photos while he's sleeping because he's so cute, cheeks squished against the pillow as he shifts his face closer into it. And very pouty lips.
° Makes soft groans when you aren't near him, pulling you towards his bare chest. When you are next to him, he'll place your hands on his back so you can hold him.
° Usually a big spoon, but when he is very tired and needs sleep. He is an adorable little spoon who wants nothing more than to sleep and have you holding him.
Lee Know
Tumblr media
° When Minho is tired he usually will just fall asleep in bed or on the nearest furniture whether you are there or not. But when he's sleepy and clingy, he'll need you with him.
° He only gets tired and clingy when he's had a bad day, his eyes will resemble a sad puppy and his lips are naturally very pouty. Then he'll just curl up into your arms.
° Likes it when you play with his hair, it makes him fall asleep faster and distracts him from the minor headache he has. He'll literally melt when you do this.
° Do not mention his clingy state to any member, or he won't cuddle you for a week. The members will tease him non stop and it embarrasses the hell out of him.
° He's not mad at you, he just gets embarrassed and is cautious doing any affection when he is rethinking his life choices at the moment.
° Even though he is labelled the savage member, he can't be mad at you. He sees you as an angel and is glad he has someone to hold him when he needs to be held.
Changbin
Tumblr media
° Shy when you first began to date, but now he is very very clingy. He'll randomly walk up to you and just peck you hundreds of times before walking away like it's nothing.
° Can get a bit whiny when he's tired, begging to go to bed and cuddle him. It gets to the point where he doesn't care who hears him begging for your attention.
° When you finally give in, he'll murmur the softest 'thank you' before cuddling into your chest. He'll sigh in content once he is comfortable before falling asleep.
° Knows when you aren't with him, and will wake up instantly. Understands if you need to use the washroom or grab a drink/snack, but will complain if you just leave to leave.
° Tracing his jaw line will soothe him tremendously, he'll fall asleep in seconds. Changbin enjoys the feeling of your fingers against his skin, it is comforting to him.
° Once talked in his sleep lightly, whispering about how much he loves you and even mentioned how he wants to marry you. Whispering a small 'I do'.
Hyunjin
Tumblr media
(Our prince is coming back soon!! ❤️❤️❤️)
° Clingy is his middle name, the only member more affectionate than him is Felix. And it's only because Minho slightly intimidates him.
° Will walk into your shared bedroom and just flop next to you, or gradually lean all of his weight onto you. He always greets you once he's comfortable, making you laugh.
° Will talk about how tired he is from the day while you stroke through his hair. If he isn't feeling talkative then he'll just lay there, enjoying your warmth and presence.
° Will fall asleep accidently most times, not wanting to sleep because he missed you but ends up doing so anyways because he is so tired. You understand nonetheless.
° Once wrapped himself around you during movie night with Stray Kids, and ended up missing the whole movie because he fell asleep on your shoulder during the opening.
° Will tease you if you are being clingy, but it doesn't last long since you remind him of all the times he clung to you and whined for your attention. Making him embarrassed.
Han
Tumblr media
° When tired he zones out alot, you usually just hold him while he slumps into you and thinks about the creation of life itself. You'll sometimes laugh at how serious he looks.
° You can't get over how cute his cheeks are when squished against you or a pillow. It pouts his lips out and makes him look like an adorable soft baby because of it.
° Will fiddle with your fingers to try and stay awake, but it ends up soothing him at one point and he falls asleep anyways. His head will fall back onto you once he falls asleep.
° Will randomly ask you questions he was thinking about. Like 'why is blue called blue?' 'if I punch myself and cry, am I too strong or too weak?' 'what if unicorns are invisible?'
° Some of them do stick with you, so your up at 3am wondering why blue was called blue. But you won't tell him that since it will only encourage him to ask more questions.
° Likes to be the little spoon in general, and he will become more curled up when he is tired. Burrowing into your body as you hold him, he usually will fall asleep in seconds.
Felix
Tumblr media
° The only differences between sleepy Felix and regular Felix is that he is quiet and is wearing pajamas, and the pajamas aren't a guarantee depending where he is.
° Felix is a naturally affectionate person who is impossible to dislike, he's a literal angel that makes you wonder how you ended up with him. But you are grateful that you did.
° Half of the time he will come home for work and whine until he finally reaches your embrace. Immediately letting out a content sigh as he turns into putty in your arms.
° The other half of the time is he will be waiting on the couch in a onesie, waiting for you to come home. Once you do he'll giggle softly and open his arms wide for you.
° Rubs his cheek against yours like a cat, and can't stop his smile from beaming brightly at your presence. Felix also has a habit of of burrowing into the crook of your neck.
° He'll fall asleep on top of you, whispering one last 'I love you' in his deep but now groggy voice. Resting his head on your shoulder as you fall asleep seconds later.
Seungmin
Tumblr media
° Is probably the member who is the shyest when it comes to affection, no matter how long you two have been together. He prefers soft and short affectionate touches.
° His favorite type of PDA is hand holding, and when in private he will embrace you gently in bed. Usually being the bigger spoon, but isn't opposed to being little spoon.
° Will become more clingy when he is tired, wanting to go to bed with you very badly after a long day. He'll look at you while resting on your shoulder, waiting for you.
° Doesn't want to force you into a cuddle session, but will hint that he wants one to happen. You catch onto these hints eventually, but it can take some time.
° The main hints that you know are, cuddling on your lap, looking at you with puppy eyes, kissing your neck, rubbing your tummy, and talking about dreams that he's had.
° When you finally go to bed, he'll scoop you into his arms. Usually placing soft kissing on the top of your head, and whispering how much he appreciates you.
Jeongin
Tumblr media
° Your usually more of the clingy one in the relationship, but there is a rare occasion where the roles reverse. And this happens the week he returns from tour.
° Jeongin will be exhausted from going nonstop and reaching his limit multiple times, but he'll be so happy to be back home and have you right there beside him.
° His eyes will be very sparkly when looking at you, just so happy to be back home with you. And he notices your blush when you see his gaze but is too tired to tease you on it.
° Will chat with you in a hushed tone, asking about how you were when he was gone and what you thought of the the performances you saw online. Tiredly smiling throughout.
° Smiles when you kiss him softly, missing the way your lips felt against his. He'll cup your face before resting his chin on top of your head as you curl into him.
° Falls asleep with you as his last thought, and his dreams continue his thoughts by making him imagine how truly beautiful you would look walking down the aisle.

Tumblr media
“I’m going out!” Jisung slung his bag behind his back, heading towards the front door. You, sitting on the couch with your head in your phone, give him a quick mhm before he went on his way. You didn’t know where he was going, and frankly, you didn’t care. Jisung out of the house gave you the chance to invite Changbin over, assuming they weren’t hanging out.
You haven’t seen Changbin in two days, but the two of you have been texting nonstop, mostly at night when you were both tired and horny. Changbin hasn’t seen Jisung since he almost caught you, but they’ve been texting with Chan in their group chat. Unfortunately, that’s about it. Jisung was making his space away from Changbin.
Hey, wanna come over? My brother left
You wait a minute. Then a minute turns into 30, and 30 turns into 60. You start to regret sending the text considering he isn’t replying. You’ve given up hope before you hear your phone ring: It’s a call from Changbin.
“Hey!” You answer way too eagerly, probably freaking him out. “What’s up, Binnie?”
As much as he loves when you call him Binnie, now was not the time for his heart to flutter.
“Y/n, can I still come over?” You had no clue why he had to call you for that, but regardless, you obviously said yes. “We need to talk, for real this time.”
🍓🍰🐤🍀💐🍯
Jisung couldn’t look at you. He was repulsed by our actions to the point where he would cringe whenever he heard your voice, because he knew your mouth belonged to his best friend. He didn’t want to think about it, and he needed to get his mind off of it. Since he clearly couldn’t hang out with Changbin, he called his next best friend, Chan.
“Hey, Chan!” Jisung sounded happy though the phone, although he’d just been pounding his fists into his steering wheel out of anger moments ago. “Can we hang out in the studio? I need to let off some steam.”
It was about a month ago at a stupid house party. Chan was DJing while Jisung and Changbin were off partying, and he was doing a damn good job if he had to say so himself. Of course, just like every party, when the noise died down and people started to leave, Chan was dragged into a random drinking circle with several strangers, but most importantly, his best friend Jisung, although Chan would never call him that infront of him, because he knew Jisung and Changbin were closer than Chan and Jisung could ever be. Chan let the music run a random playlist of his while he sat, casually drinking and chatting before the game started.
Never Have I Ever: Ten fingers up, and if you’ve done it, put a finger down. Go around in a circle until someone, probably the most innocent out of the group, has won. It always goes wrong for Chan, though.
“Never have I ever…” a random girl looked around the circle, pausing to ponder what she’s never done, “had a crush on someone of the same sex.”
Most of the girls put a finger down, and the guys awkwardly looked back and forth until Chan slipped his pinky finger down. He couldn’t tell a lie, but he didn’t want to admit that he had conflicting feelings for other men, let alone his best friend.
The circle went quiet as they stared at Chan, eyes unmoving. In Chan’s head, it felt like the world was imploding around him and at any moment he could combust, but the game simply went on. No questions were asked, and they moved on. When it got around to Jisung, his galaxy brain sparked and he knew a way to get all the girls out with one hit.
“Never have I ever fucked a man.” A simple command, and all but one of the girls put down one of their fingers. Jisung didn’t know it, but he lit a fuse that led directly to Chan, and if he wasn’t careful, Chan was going to be set off.
Chan didn’t put a finger down for that, and he didn’t have to, but the idea of Chan being the man that got to make Jisung put his finger down was bubbling in his brain. It had been for months, but now that he heard the words come out of Jisung’s mouth, it felt real. It felt right there. At an arm’s reach, Chan could propose the idea to Jisung and end this party with a bang (quite literally.) Ever polite, Chan stayed quiet, remaining in his spot, letting the night go on without a hitch.
There was no way Jisung could know.
Being invited to the studio to be with Jisung was nothing new. They’d worked on tracks alone before, but Chan always had to leave early, his thoughts getting the best of him as he ran to his car to jerk off in an empty parking lot before driving home to go through the motions again. There was no chance of Chan getting together with Jisung.
“Sure! I’ll be down in a few.” Chan sighed, going to collect his things and head to the studio.
“It won’t be long! I just need to talk for a minute.”
Talk? Talk about what? Music? Friendship? Did another girl break his heart? Was he still going on about Changbin and his sister?
Chan had no idea. He just wanted to hear Jisung’s voice.
At the studio, Jisung got there before Chan. He sat patiently, hands folded in his lap, going over what he wanted to say. He had practiced his speech for Chan in his head, in the mirror, in his car, and even in his phone notes, but nothing could prepare him for actually facing Chan.
As if on cue, Chan walked in right as Jisung finished his mental monologue. A quick wave sufficed as a greeting, but before Chan could take his laptop out, Jisung told Chan to sit down and listen.
“This is going to sound crazy, but hear me out.” Jisung always sounded crazy, but Chan just nodded. “If you’re all caught up, you should know that Changbin is fucking my sister.” Again, a gentle nod. “Obviously, I don’t fucking like that, so I want to get back at him!”
“And what?” Chan laughs, rolling his eyes at the younger. “Fuck his sister?”
“No way! She’s way too out of my league.” He was only partially true. “I’m going to fuck the one person he cares about more than his family.”
“So, you’re gonna fuck yourself?” Chan was genuinely confused. He had no clue where Jisung was going with this insane plan, but as his brain slowly put the pieces together, his eyes got more wide. Jisung noticed his flushed expression and began to shake, scared of what was going on in Chan’s head.
“Chan, if it’s okay with yo-”
“Yes.” Chan placed both of his hands on Jisung’s knees, leaning forward to get closer to Jisung’s face. His features looked so detailed and pretty. They’ve never been this close before. Chan’s heart was beating out of his chest while Jisung’s heart was racing for another reason. Neither of them knew what to do.
“You’ve been waiting for this, haven’t you?” Jisung’s voice wavered as he asked the question. His eyes were glowing with the realization that Chan had some sort of sexual or romantic feeling for him. Chan cupped Jisung’s cheek, petting him before nodding in approval.
“What made you think of this plan?” Chan’s eyes left Jisung’s and wondered to his lips, cute and plump. Jisung had a slight pout, and it made Chan just that much harder.
“I…” Jisung trailed off, looking to a corner of the quiet studio. “I didn’t think much about it before, but to get back at Changbin, I want to fuck someone close to him, and you’re the only person I could think of.”
“I didn’t know you liked guys.” Chan admitted, leaning even closer and making Jisung sweat. He could feel Chan’s breath on his face, and just his presence was intoxicating.
“I didn’t know either,” Jisung paused, “but the more I thought about you…”
“You don’t have to explain yourself.” Chan’s hands crept up Jisung’s thighs, sliding up to his hips and pulling Jisung onto his lap. “Just let me make you feel good, baby boy.”
Whenever Jisung would describe his sex life, he was always on top: railing women and never looking back. He always depicted himself as being in control, but right now Jisung had no control. He was at the will of Christopher Bang, and Chan knew all too well what he wanted to do to the poor boy.
🍓🍰🐤🍀💐🍯
Changbin yawned as he rounded the corner, heading towards the 3Racha studio where he assumed he would be alone. As he approached, he noticed the blinds on the door were down although they always left them up. That’s weird, he thought, taking hold of the door knob before being stopped by the lock.
There was a commotion inside. It sounded like scrambling, things hitting the ground and other things being swept up. He thought it was just Jisung throwing a tantrum and wrecking the place, which would be a little funny, but a minute passed before the door swung open, revealing a disheveled Chan welcoming him in and a lazed Jisung, sprawled out on the couch, equally disheveled and a little sleepy.
“What-” Changbin looked around the room. The desk with the expensive equipment was safe, but one of the swivel chairs was pushed over and the pillows from the couch were on the floor.
“Hey, Bin! We were just working on something!” Chan was glowing, a smile wide across his face. Looking at the black computer screen, Changbin inhaled the scent of the room.
“It smells like balls in here, what the fuck were you two doing?” Changbin takes a step in, not taking off his bag, because honestly, he wanted to leave.
“Working.” Jisung’s voice was hoarse, and he quickly coughed to reverse the effects of having a cock down his throat minutes before. “We were making a new track.”
“Oh, really?” Changbin rolls his eyes and looks at his phone. He hadnt noticed before, but you texted him.
“What is it? A text from my sister?” Jisung began sulking, all the memories of the past couple days returning to his fuzzy post-sex brain.
Changbin stopped. He had never fully admitted his involvement with you to Jisung, and considering he totally just got railed by the only other person Changbin trusted, he thought this was the time.
“Yeah, actually.” Changbin smirked, raising his brows and Jisung. Chan’s jaw dropped as if he didn’t know what was going on. Jisung’s face went red with anger, and before he could stand up and yell up a storm, Changbin turned around to head out. “She said her brother isn’t home. I should go take advantage of that, right Jisung?”
“You fucker-”
“Oh, and your sister gives great head. Maybe it runs in the family.” Changbin shoots a look at Chan before slamming the door shut behind him and heading back to his car.
🍓🍰🐤🍀💐🍯
You sat in the living room, waiting to hear Changbin knocking at your front door. You were terrified that he was going to try to break your relationship like last time, but it seems like he was content judging from texts. Maybe he just wanted to talk, or maybe he wanted to break your heart. No matter what, you wanted him here.
Three knocks at the door startled you out of your daze. You welcomed Changbin inside and you sat on your couch with him. This was the first time Changbin was sitting with you instead of Jisung, and it felt strange and familiar at the same time. Changbin’s heart was racing, and you felt the awkward tension as Changbin looked around, refusing to look at you.
You placed your hand on his thigh, bringing his attention to you. “You said you wanted to talk?”
“Yeah.” Changbin gulped, unsure of how to bring this up. “So, I told Jisung a few things, and he fully knows that we’ve been…”
“Oh?” You blush, afraid of what your brother was going to say to you and if he’d ever be able to look you in the eyes again. “Was he okay?”
“I didn’t give him much time to respond, but it looked like he was pretty pissed.” Changbin chuckles, and you do the same. A silence fell over the room as Changbin prepared what he was going to say next. He didn’t want to out his brother to his sister, especially if it was all a misunderstanding and Changbin just walked into the studio when it coincidentally smelled like balls. He just folded his hands and leaned back into the couch, resting the back of his head on the back. “What are we?”
His question hit you like a brick wall, because you didn’t have an answer. You’ve been an ace in all your classes and yet you couldn’t answer this simple question. You bit your bottom lip in concentration, replaying every conversation and moment you two had shared since the night Changbin so rudely barged in on your wanking session.
“Do you want to be anything more than fuck buddies?” Changbin reenters the silence with another headsplitting question. You’ve always wanted to be the girlfriend of Seo Changbin, but now you are clamming up. Did you want to be his girlfriend, or was it all fantasy?
“I want to be with you, Changbin.” Your eyes met each other’s for the first time, and it felt heavy, as if the air got thicker just by meeting the other’s gaze. “I don’t know if that means I want to be your girlfriend, but I just know I want to be with you.”
“Alright.” Changbin nodded, leaning closer to you. “Let’s forget labels for now.” He catches your lips in a kiss, holding your chin in one hand while your arms wrap around his neck, pulling your body towards his. He pulls away, breathless and calm. “I want to be with you, too.”
The next kiss is sweet enough to give you a cavity. It’s warm and inviting. No tongue, just lips on lips, appreciating the taste of the other.
Regardless of what your brother thought, you were content in staying with Changbin. No amount of family disapproval or shunning could stop you from being with Changbin. It was as if your world had begun to revolve around Changbin. He took real estate in your mind every day and night, consistently keeping you awake for hours on end from your heart beating too fast at the thought of seeing him again.
Changbin didn’t notice, but he had grown feelings for you. Before the first time you were together, you were nothing but a hot girl he thought about when he jerked off, but it quickly became more than that. He was infatuated with your existence. If you thought about him 24/7, he thought about you 25/8. He’s been with many girls before, but never one like you. No one made him feel like his world could fall apart at the removal of their presence like you. You were precious to Changbin, and he wanted to make you his and his alone.
You were sitting in his lap, legs spread around his hips and you grinded into each other, feeling each other up like it was the last time you were going to be together. His hands cupped your breasts, kneading you through your shirt and bra, while your hands rested on his thick arms, holding on like you were about to drown. Everything felt rushed while simultaneously being drawn out. You were both so desperate for the other that you didn’t even care about the clothes in your way.
No matter how much stamina Changbin had regularly, whenever he was with you, it always felt like he could pop at any moment and make a fool of himself. He loved your body so much, it was absurd. When your hands circled his nipples and gently pulled at the nubs, he felt his cock twitch in his pants.
“I need to be inside you right now, princess.” You loved when he called you that, and even more, you loved when he showed how needy he was for you. He stood up with you, kissing your face all over before meeting your lips in a deep kiss. You felt so overwhelmingly heated, and when Changbin’s bulge brushed against you, you couldn’t help but let out a choked moan into the kiss.
He pulls away and pulls your shirt over your head, throwing it somewhere behind him to bring attention to your chest. He’s quick to remove your bra and properly worship your tits like he’s been wanting to do. He kisses down from your lips to your chest, attaching his lips around one of your nipples, but not before leaving a bright red hickey to form on your neck. His tongue flicked against your sensitive nub while his free hand gently twisted your other. Your legs were getting weaker by the second, and you couldn’t help but have moans escape your lips. His hand that wasn’t playing with your tits snaked around your body, holding up you by the waist. Unfortunately, he didn’t want to be bent down forever.
He stood up, slightly towering over you. His hands snapped to your hips and pulled your pants down, exposing your pretty lace panties. Changbin licked his lips at the sight, taking it all in for a moment. You felt his eyes gracing over your body, and you shivered from the intense look in his eyes. You were already dripping wet from his touches, and Changbin could sense that you were as needy as he was.
“Let’s go up to your room, baby.” Changbin took your hand and turned around, heading towards the stairwell. “We don’t want your brother coming home and finding us here.”
You headed up to your room, not bothering to pick up your clothes from downstairs. It wasn’t until you were in your room, laid back under Changbin that you realized he was still entirely dressed while you were only in your underwear.
“Changbinnie,” he lifted his head from your neck, arching an eyebrow at you, “let me see your body. I want to see you.”
“Anything for my girl.”
My girl. Wow, you were his girl. His girl, all for him to use like a little cumrag. You were so high strung, and it felt like the only two people in the world were you and Changbin. He leans up, taking off his shirt and pulling down his pants, letting you see the impressive bulge in his boxers. You could practically feel his cock inside you just from seeing the outline. The whine you release is pathetic, and it makes Changbin laugh at your desperate state, but it also made him want you more.
He pressed his bulge against your cunt, dry humping you and feeling your wetness transfer to his boxers. You looked so hot while squirming under him. “Beg for it, baby. What do you want me to do?”
“Ch-Changbin,” you slurred your words, already going dumb from a few teasing touches. You felt so small under him. Not physically small, but mentally small. He could form a full sentence and you could hardly think straight. “Please fuck me, please~”
He pulled your panties down your legs, tossing them to the floor. His cock popped out of his boxers as he pulled them down, finally being free. He pressed his tip against your clit, circling it and feeling your hips jolt.
“More, Y/n. Beg more.” Changbin’s brain was starting to get fuzzy too. His tip was so angry and red. You whined at the friction of the tip of his cock going through your folds. You wanted him inside you so bad, but you couldn’t articulate any of your very few thoughts. All you could do was whine.
“P-please.” Your breathing was heavy. Without another word, you lifted your hips into his cock, hoping he understands your message, which he fully does, and as much as he wants to fuck you brainless, he also wants to hear you.
“Cmon, doll. You got this.” He holds your hips down and thrusts his cock through your folds without ever entering you. “Beg for my cock.”
You practically scream, “please fuck me, Changbin! I need your cock! I want to cum so bad for you, please.” You lose yourself at the end, unable to think any sort of coherent thought. Luckily, you didn’t need to speak anymore. Changbin was satisfied.
He lined up with your entrance and pushed in, going about half way before stopping and making sure you were okay. The stretch was painful again, but it felt so good. You loved being filled by his cock, especially since it dragged across your walls so perfectly. When he finally bottoms out, he waits for you to slightly return to your senses. Your breathing begins to even as you grow comfortable with Changbin inside you.
“Ready for me to move?” Your nodding is frantic, and your eagerness only eggs him on. He nearly pulls entirely out of you before pushing back in with one strong thrust, feeling somehow deeper than he was before. It felt like a new feeling. It felt different. He felt closer, warmer, better, but you couldn’t figure out why.
No condom. Changbin knew he didn’t put protection on, and he didn’t want to. He wanted to feel you around him. His stamina was good enough to make you cum plenty before he needed to pull out. He loved the way you felt with the condom on, and without, you felt a thousand times better. Fuck, maybe he wasn’t going to last as long as he thought.
His thrusts sped up, and he held himself closer inside you, hardly pulling out before plunging back in. The sound of skin slapping filled the room as Changbin leaned down to kiss you. Your tongues swirled together, and he ate up all your pretty moans of his name.
Your tight cunt hugged his shaft so well, and the way his tip prodded at your g-spot made your head spin. His lips on yours kept you grounded, you passionately kissing back regardless of your breathlessness. His hands cup your tits, playing with your nipples with his thumb and forefinger. Even though you hadn’t been together too long, he knew just how to make your body feel best. He was an expert at everything he did, and fucking you was no exception.
“Bin, ‘m close.” You spoke against his lips, him humming in response. His thrusts were rough, drilling you into the mattress. His groans sounded so hot, you never wanted them to end. He was right next to your ear, praising you and telling you how tight you were.
“Ah, turn over, princess.” Changbin pulled out and patted your thigh, promoting you to push your face into your pillows and put your ass up. The view was beautiful, but now was no time to admire your body. Changbin needed to be inside you again.
His abrupt re-entrance made you moan loudly while his cock stretched you again. His thrusts were even faster and deeper than before, and your orgasm soon returned to the edge. The bed was creaking loudly, and the headboard pounded into the wall.
In a flash, your head was pulled up by your hair. Changbin had your hair around his fist, pulling you violently out of the pillows and onto your hands. Your mouth hung open as he continued to violate your hole, brushing past your sensitive walls and pounding into your g-spot with every trust. His groans got louder and his pace began to fray.
“Cum on my cock, Y/n.” His voice was hoarse and demanding, as if he was about to bust inside you at any moment. “Let Binnie feel you cum, sweetheart.”
“Ah~ Bin!” You felt the knot in your stomach tighten, threatening to snap. Your mind was so foggy, and all you could think of was Changbin’s amazing cock and the way he was railing you so well. “Changbin, so good…”
“Yeah, baby?” He pursues you, egging you on to say more. “What’s good?”
“Your cock! Your cock is- ah!” You’re screaming at this point, begging that your orgasm washes over your fucked out body soon. Changbin pushes you back down into your pillow, muffling your moans until you can turn your head and breath again.
You bite down on your lip hard enough to bleed before your mouth goes agape, slurring every curse word you could think of as your orgasm hit you like a metal bat. Your cunt began convulsing, making it harder and harder for Changbin to keep from cumming inside your hot pussy. He looked down at where you two were connected and saw the abundance of your creamy release coat his cock thicker than before. Your hands squeezed the sheets as you began to become overstimulated, your body becoming sore fast.
“Changbin, it-” You’re still breathing heavily, thoughts slowly coming back to you. “It hurts.”
“Ah, princess,” Changbin pulls out, stroking himself intensely before cumming on your ass and your back. “Fuck, you felt too good.”
🍓🍰🐤🍀💐🍯
Jisung leads Chan into your house, holding his hand just to guide him upstairs. Before he can even put a foot on the bottom step, he sees your bra on the floor. He isn’t entirely sure that it’s yours, but he knows it can’t be anyone else’s. Chan’s ears perk up at the lewd sounds coming from upstairs, and Jisung soon notices too.
“We could go to my place-”
“No!” Jisung interrupts Chan just loud enough for it to be jarring. “They won’t mind a little more noise.”

Tumblr media
there you are again, wide awake in your room, staring at the ceiling and unable to sleep. you’ve shifted your position for about seven times now and you just can’t find the right position for you to even feel slightly sleepy. even using your phone to make yourself sleepy isn’t helping either, it just makes you more awake.
honestly, you have been thinking about this one person in your dreams. that person has been appearing in your sleeping state for weeks now and you are eager to figure out who that person is. you just want to know who he is and why the hell he keeps appearing in your resting brain.
and you wonder, do you also appear in his dreams? or is he even a real person? or is he a ghost?
you scratched your head from frustration and sat up on your bed.
12:18 am. you sighed and checked your phone, you swore to yourself this is going to be the last time you’d check your phone before you go to sleep, for real.
you even asked your friend huening kai if he ever encountered something like that before, he said no, but his older sister did. his older sister said that through people’s dreams, soulmates connect. you were confused at first because you never really believed in love, let alone soulmates.
“well guess what, i don’t really care about soulmates. i just need my peaceful and quiet sleep in. that person does not need to bother me and has no business to be in my brain at all.” you remember telling huening kai. you cringed at that thought but just brushed it off.
you have to attend your 8:30 am English class tomorrow morning and overthinking about that person isn’t helping you at all. you covered your face with your blanket and it’s good enough for you that you fell asleep after a few.i
Tumblr media
you found yourself in your all white clothing wandering around a grass field alone. you looked at the horizon and it’s sunset. trying to look for your phone in your pocket, you found it and checked the time. 5:53 pm.
you frowned and looked for someone around, but you’re alone. there’s literally no one but you.
so you gave up and just sat on the grass to watch the sunset. i mean if you’re gonna be alone in an unfamiliar place, why not just sit down and appreciate the horizon right?
you sat and laid on the grass, you watched the sky as it turned dark but you couldn’t help but to be awed by the blue-orange hues of the sky with the sun setting. you smiled to yourself and sat up, you lifted your right hand and pretended to grab the sun as if it was a cookie.
“if you were to eat the sun, i don’t think it would be very pleasant.”
you quickly whipped your head around to see a blonde guy, also wearing all white just like you are. your brows met as you pointed.
“it’s you! again!” you yelped and faced him, now standing up. a gust of wind quickly brushed through your face and it made you squint and once you opened your eyes, the guy isn’t there anymore.
“actually, it’s you, again.” the guy said, now sitting on the grass next to where you were sitting. you frowned.
how the heck did he get there so quick? and what is he anyway?
“who are you?” you asked him, daring not to sit down because what if he just attacks you?
“i should be asking you that because you’re in my dreamland.” he looked up and raised his brow.
your eyes flew wide eyes and your hand involuntarily placed itself on your chest. “excuse me? your dreamland? YOU are in my dre-- wait, i’m dreaming again!” you turned around and grabbed a bunch of your hair out of frustration.
omygosh don’t tell me kai’s sister is right…
the guy chuckled and paid attention to the setting sun. “tsk, you’re being overdramatic.” he said and laid on the grass just like you did. you looked at him and you saw him resting on the grass, looking peaceful as ever.
you pouted and looked around to see if there is any exit so you could leave the place, but no. this place is just a never ending grassfield and horizon that there is no building structures or any door to leave, just grass and the sky.
“maybe if you stopped panicking there your body will just wake up by itself and you’d be able to leave in no time.” the guy told you, body still relaxed and eyes are still closed. you sighed and sat on the grass about six feet away.
you hugged your knees and looked at the sun again, gosh why can’t i just wake up?
“why are you so far?” now with his eyes open and looking at you. you rolled your eyes and shook your head.
“just practicing social distancing.” you said and dug your face on your knees.
you heard the guy chuckle as he sat up. “you believe in soulmates right?” he asked you, you paused before answering him. “no.” you admitted. “i think it’s stupid.” you added.
he shook his head, “you’re one dense of a person.” he stood up and walked towards you and held his hand out. “get up. let’s take a walk. i don’t think our bodies will wake up anytime soon.” he offered.
you just stared at his hand then to his eyes, you gave him a questionable look and not moving at all. “why would i take your offer?” you asked.
sigh, he is actually so done with you, your nonstop questions and your bratty attitude, but he’s just keeping his cool because he knows you are his soulmate. although he doesn’t want his soulmate to be this bratty, there’s really no turning back anymore. he can’t just throw a fit to the heavens above to take you back and change his soulmate.
“cause i’m your soulmate, smarty pants. now get up before i leave you here.” he said still having his hand out. you bit your lower lip before taking his hand and getting up.
he gave you a simple smile before walking ahead of you and you just followed him, not asking where he is heading but you actually want to know where he is going.
“where are you going?” you asked him, though he didn’t answer. he just kept walking without looking back, walking like there’s no end. well, literally there is no end.
you waited for his answer but you didn’t get any at all. so you threw in more questions.
“who are you?” “how are you my soulmates?” “so you believe in soulmates?” “why are you not answering me?” “why are we in each other’s dreams?” “why do we have soulmates?”
he stopped walking and took a very very deep breath. he turned around to meet your gaze and that caused you to feel flustered and stop breathing. you saw him purse his lips and sighing before saying something.
“soulmates connect through dreams.” he finally said, “god, why are you so annoying.” he said and continued walking.
you pouted and stomped your way to follow him again, now with your arms crossed. “i don’t even know your name.”
he shook his head and looked back at you still walking. he smiled at you, “it’s bleep”
you frowned at him. “what?”
“bleep is my name.”
you looked at him weirdly, “all i hear is bleep.” you said and rolled your eyes.
he just stared at you without any emotions, “why don’t you introduce yourself?”
you squinted and scrunched your nose. “my name is bleep.”
he laughed at you as if you were crazy, “well i guess both of our names are bleep.” he looked at the sun, now almost down to the ground.
“well this is it.” he turned to you and waved his hands. “see you around!”
and with a blink of an eye, you saw his body disintegrate into the air which caused you to be scared.
“wait!”
Tumblr media
your phone alarm woke you up and you got up groggily, having only five to six hours of sleep when you knew you needed more to keep sane throughout the day. you massage your temples and turn off your alarm.
having to dream about that guy again, you’re kinda disappointed that you didn’t even catch his name and all you heard was bleep, which was very odd.
but you just shook it off, you’re not really interested in meeting him soon anyway. you don’t even believe in soulmates.
kai gave you a ride to your first class since you both have the same morning class together.
“i dreamt about that guy again.” you started while taking a bite of your bagel on the way to you lecture hall. he giggled and teased you.
“did he kiss you?” you pouted and took another bite of your bagel. “heck no. he was annoying.” you got in the lecture hall and walked towards your usual spot.
but your mood immediately fell down seeing another person sitting in your usual seat. you shook kai and pointed at the spot. “someone is sitting on my spot.”
kai looked at the direction and just shrugged. “you can sit on the opposite spot, still next to me.” he said, you frowned even more. “but i want my spot.”
kai pinched your sides before pulling you towards the seats. “stop being a brat and don’t give a tantrum. you’re an adult, you know better.” he shook his head and patted yours.
you gave the person a death glare before going to your new spot. but you couldn’t see the person’s face since they’re wearing their hood on and it’s covering their face. you sat on the chair next to kai with so much anger, wanting your seat back.
kai glared at you and sneered. “stop being a brat.” you rolled your eyes and took out your laptop to start taking notes.
15 minutes in the lecture you started to feel sleepy. you smacked your face lightly to keep yourself awake because you don’t really want to fall asleep at the lecture hall because one, you’re gonna fall asleep until later later, or two, you’re not going to be able to eat until later when you get home.
“lemme go to the restroom for a moment.” kai tapped your shoulders before heading to his business. you just nodded without looking at him and rested your chin on your hand, and sighed. gosh why does english lectures have to be this boring?
“even in real life you’re bratty.” the guy next to kai’s seat blurted.
you peeked to his direction just to be shocked it’s the same guy in your dreams.
your hands immediately covered your mouth from keeping yourself from screaming and yelling at the guy from first, stealing your seat, and second, oh shit he’s that guy in your dreams.
you pointed at him and whispered-yell, “it’s you!” you looked at your professor’s direction but he wasn’t really being mindful what the students are doing.
“what are you doing here? why are you here? you’re a student here?” you asked him, he just shook his head and rolled his eyes then paid his attention back to his tablet. “even here you ask so many questions.” he said and gave you a smile.
you crossed your arms and leaned on your chair, “you literally stole my seat and i always sit there.” you said.
he looked at you, “you’re unbelievable, it’s just a seat.” he got up and grabbed his stuff and walked towards you, “we can switch seats. it’s really not a big deal.” he said and pulled you up.
you excitedly got up and took back your seat, settling you laptop and bag on your usual spot and sat on the chair the guy was sitting on.
“omygosh, your butt is warm.” you said.
“stop complaining, i just gave you your seat back.”
you didn’t answer and there was an awkward silence between the two of you until kai came back next to you. his brows are furrowed to see that you have switched seats with the guy. “you switched seats?” he asked you and you happily nodded.
“got it back, thank god.” you said and hugged the desk in front of you. “i missed you.” you said to the table. kai just looked at you with disgust and went back to writing on his notebook.
“are they really like that?” the guy asked kai. kai quickly looked at the guy and shrugged. “yeah, they're always a brat. sorry about that, they probably bugged you when i was gone.”
taehyun just laughed and shook his head, “nah, they didn’t. i offered to switch seats since, well, they looked very upset. and i already knew they’re gonna be… like that…” kai gave the guy a smile before giving a small bow.
“thanks. and your name?”
“i’m taehyun. i’m new here so that’s why i accidentally got their seat.”
“hey stopped talking to him.” you told kai, kai whipped his head towards you and gave you the look. “and why not?” he asked.
you glared at taehyun and hissed at him, “he’s that person who keeps bugging me in my dreams.” you admitted.
kai’s jaw dropped opened and turned to taehyun, “oh my, you’re that guy?” he said. “you’re THE soulmate?”
taehyun let out an airy laugh before nodding, “unfortunately, that would be me.” he said.
kai shook his head and pinched your sides, “ouch! kai!”
“well, you’re going to treat him to lunch today, y/n. you’ve been acting bratty towards him and you should give him a pay back.” you rubbed your sides and hit kai’s arm.
“he should be the one treating me lunch since he’s been keeping me awake the past nights.”
“actually, you’re sleeping and resting when we meet in the dream so you’re actually not sleepless.” taehyun pointed out. you glared at the guy again attempting to throw your pencil at him.
instead of taking sides, kai just blocked his arms in between you and taehyun to stop the bickering he’s witnessing in front of him. “okay okay, how about we just take lunch together since taehyun is new here, yeah? and no, y/n you can’t complain, again.” kai said before you could say anything.
you pouted and looked away. “as if i could do something about it. i’m practically stuck with this guy forever.” you said.
an hour has passed of you and taehyun arguing in class, you finally decided to take an early lunch since you have another class at 12. and yes, kai dragged taehyun with you both to tour the new guy around campus and meet new people around.
“hey bleep, what are you getting?” taehyun asked you, you scratched your head and answered. “i’m getting carbonara. Why?”
“okay, i’m getting carbonara too.” taehyun said. kai walked towards you and taehyun and teased you both. “did a hear a secret nickname between you two?” kai wiggled his brows.
“ew no.” “yes we did.”
you kicked taehyun on the shin before walking to the counter to order your food.
“that hurt!” taehyun ran to you as you order your plate.
“one carbonara with breadstick please, and iced tea.” you said, “make that two.” taehyun said before pulling out his card and giving it to the cashier.
you looked at him handing his card as it was swiped on the machine, “why?”
“take this as my apology. and you’re my soulmate, you’re basically my other half or whatever. so drop the attitude and let’s be friends for once.”
you stuck your tongue out to him and walked to an available table and taehyun sat next to you. “my name is taehyun.” he said and offered his hands for a handshake.
you didn’t hesitate but to take, “y/n”
“at least we’re not bleeps anymore.” he said, which made you giggle. “don’t tell me you’re gonna be in my dreams again tonight.” you frowned.
taehyun held your cheeks between his fingers and gave it a slight squeeze. “yes, i am and get used to it.” he squeezed your cheeks a little harder and he cooed at you.
“maybe you’re cute, you’re just annoying.”
“hey!”
“omygod, can you two get a room. we can see that you’re soulmates, jeez.”

I’m sorry Y/N, but if you’re not here in the next 5 minutes I need to keep going.
That text haunted you– it was all you could think about the moment you got off of your flight. The uber your sister had ordered for you was close to canceling– all because there were too many planes taxiing on the airstrip and your stupid flight ended up circling in the air for thirty minutes. If this were any other airport, no doubt you’d be screwed. Luckily though, you knew good ole St. Louis Lambert International like the back of your hand. So getting from point A to point luggage claim would be no problem at all. The only delay would be the luggage getting put out onto the carousel.
Which of course, did prove to be the problem at hand.
You were the first one from your flight at the carousel and hoped to be gone before any disgruntled passengers you managed to bump into, could show up. Unfortunately for you, just as the bags were being loaded onto the carousel, your fellow passengers were arriving too– more than a few giving you a look that would normally result in you rolling your eyes in response. Yet, your focus wasn’t on them, it was glued to the small carousel door, keeping an eye out for your suitcase.
Teal bag with a grey handle. Teal bag with a grey handle. Teal bag with a grey handle. Teal bag with a grey hand–
“Ah-ha!” You smiled, catching eye of your suitcase and rushing to meet it instead of letting it eventually make its way to you. You grabbed the suitcase and extended the handle to drag it away, already walking towards the exit.
One minute.
You had one minute to catch your uber before they left you and you hoped and prayed that luck was on your side and the black Toyota Corolla just happened to be parked near the door you chose to exit from. The warm summer air of the Missouri summer weather practically smacked you in the face and it fit wasn’t for the awning covering the pick-up zone, you would have no doubt been blinded by the sun too.
“Oh, thank God,” you sighed, catching sight of a black Toyota Corolla that your sister said to find, parked just six cars down to your left. You sped walked to the uber, coming to a stop at the window and waving at the driver, catching her attention. “I’m so, so sorry I’m late.”
The woman, probably in her early 60’s gave you a friendly smile instead of the scowl you were expecting. “Are you Y/N?”
“Yes ma’am,” you replied, nodding.
“Go ahead and put your suitcase in the trunk, it’s opened for you.”
You walked to the trunk and lifted it open, placing your suitcase inside before closing it and walking to the back passenger door, getting into the backseat. “Again, I’m so sorry for making you wait. We had to circle in the air for 30 minutes because of the traffic on the airstrip and,” you exhaled, relaxing back into your seat. “I’m so sorry.”
She laughed, pulling away from the airport. “It’s no problem sweetheart. I saw your reply. I was going to give you a little extra time. I know how hectic airports could be. Especially this time of the year. Everyone’s traveling for vacation.”
“Yeah, I think I might have accidentally elbowed one too many people trying to get to luggage claim.”
“Are you visiting or coming home?”
“Coming home…kind of,” you laughed, staring out the window at your hometown. “I actually just graduated from college a few weeks ago, so my roommates and I rented a house on the Jersey Shore to celebrate. But, my sister is getting married tomorrow, so that’s why I’m back.” You looked back towards her, laughing softly to yourself. “But then come September, I’ll actually be moving to Calgary for a new job and to get my Masters.”
“So a lot of traveling, I see.”
You took a deep breath and sighed, nodding. “Yeah, but I’m glad to be able to spend all of this time with my friends and family before I start working. Especially since I’ll be moving so far away.”
“It sounds like a great time,” she smiled, looking at me through the rearview mirror. “I’m a sucker for weddings, why don’t you tell me about it?”
Normally, you weren’t one to talk a lot whenever you and your friends would take Ubers downtown on the weekends– but this driver was sweet and you found yourself talking nonstop as she drove you towards your final destination. After all, she didn’t abandon you at the airport like you thought she would.
~
The car ride to your parents' place went by a lot faster than you thought it would and it was all thanks to Mrs. Sheila, your lovely uber driver. Whom, you learned, started driving after she lost her husband late last year. Her kids lived out of state and once they went back home after those first few weeks, she wanted to find something to do to keep herself busy and get herself out of the house– so, she became an uber driver.
Walking into your parents' house, you were greeted with empty echos of your footsteps. Your parents were still at work and wouldn’t be home until just a little before the rehearsal dinner tonight. Your brother, well, as far as you knew, he had absolutely nothing going on, so you didn’t know why he wasn’t around. If anyone was guaranteed to be home, it was your sister. She was the one who ordered your uber and had them take you here, so she was more than well aware of what time you’d be arriving home.
“Hello?” You called out, leaving your suitcase by the door and making your way to the living room. “Char, are you here?”
“Is that my favorite sister?” You heard her voice call out from upstairs. Looking up, you could see her rounding the hallway corner, carrying a closed laundry basket full of, no doubt, stuff for tonight’s bridal party sleepover.
“I’m your only sister,” you laughed as she made her way down the staircase.
“Unless you count all of the times we got bored and turned Nick into Nikki,” she giggled, reaching the end of the staircase and putting the basket down before stepping forward and hugging you. “How was the flight?”
“It was great up until our 30 minutes of circling in the air,” you laughed, pulling away from the hug. “Where’s my dear brother?”
“Working out with some friends. We probably won’t see him until tonight.”
“Nothing says welcome home like being greeted to an empty house.”
“Excuse you, I was here to greet you.” She laughed, picking the basket back up. “But if you really want to be upset, you should see all of the packed boxes in your room.”
“I leave in three months! Why are they packing me up now?” You gasped, acting dramatically.
“Nick and dad are planning on transforming it into some kind of training room or something.”
“But they–“
“Already took over the garage? Yeah, I know and mom is pissed.”
You rolled your eyes, grabbing the handle of your suitcase again. “He literally told the Blues that he was going back to Michigan in the fall to try and win a championship. Why the hell are they even treating him like he’s already a hall of famer?”
“Perks of being the youngest, not to mention dad’s only son,” she laughed, looking at the door. “Ready to head to the Airbnb?”
“Can we get food first?” You asked, dragging your suitcase along. “I’m starving.”
She laughed as you held the door open for her. “Good, because we’re most definitely getting food before we go and take a nap.”
You laughed, walking out of the house with her and then closing and locking the door behind you. “I knew we were related.”
~
Lunch and a nap turned out to be exactly what you needed. The two of you had stopped at a subway to get some food before driving over to the Airbnb that you, your sister and the rest of the bridesmaids would be staying for the night.
It was a beautiful three-bedroom, modernized cottage that looked like it was stripped directly from the pages of a fairytale book. It was tucked away, just off to the side in the backyard of a beautiful colonial house, whose farm would tomorrow be transformed into a whimsical fairytale wedding location. The men would be getting ready in the house, while the women would be getting ready in the cute cottage. Sort of like a secret getaway paradise before the wedding.
When you got back with your food, your sister took you on a tour of the property while the wedding planners and staff were setting up all of the bigger decorations for tomorrow. You were off at school during the entire planning process, only ever seeing every one of her ideas in pictures. The only things you were able to take part in, were the dress shopping and her bachelorette party since they were both held at a time you were on a fall break from school. Besides being there for those two things, the only other thing you helped with– was the proposal.
Colton has been in your life for as long as you could remember. He and Charlotte have been best friends since Pre-K. It was the cliché friends to lovers kind of story that was told time after time– but in theirs, there were no other people in it. It was just them. There were no other boyfriends or girlfriends, no other crushes– from the very beginning, they were it for each other. They were each other's first everything– kiss, date, girlfriend/boyfriend, time– in their love story, they had found their one great love…all before they turned five.
Wherever Charlotte was, there was Colton– they were stuck like glue and your parents loved it. It was their friendship that brought both of your families together to the relationship that you all had now. Your families were best friends, all because of their relationship. You often took vacations together, spent holidays together, hell, you and Colton’s middle brother, Mason, even had joint birthday parties– as did your two younger siblings, Nick and Addie. Your families even try to go as far as to dropping hints that all three kids should date.
Colton and Charlotte. You and Mason. Nick and Addie– all the same age and practically family already.
It was perfect.
Until you and Mason tried to date in the tenth-grade and realized that kissing the person you’ve shared every birthday party with, used to take baths with and shared every key moment growing up– wasn’t all that great. In fact, it was weird. So the two of you remained as the almost black sheep of the families, especially since Nick and Addie were headed down the same path as Charlotte and Colton. They started dating in eighth-grade– like Colton and Charlotte– and have maintained a healthy and strong relationship to now, even long-distance, when they’ll both be sophomores in college in the fall, Addie at the University of Missouri and Nick playing hockey at the University of Michigan.
You and Mason were there, always making jokes about how it runs in the family but skipped a generation. Never letting your siblings live it down that the two of you will be the ones to break the cycle. Funny how you two were also the ones who played the biggest roles in Charlotte’s engagement.
Both of your dads are huge St. Louis Blues fans. So naturally, they tried to rub that off onto their children. And it worked, all except for you. You tolerated the blues, but never really adopted hockey as your favorite sport. You understood it, watched it whenever you never had a choice– but like your mom, you gravitated more towards football and adopted her hometown team as your own– the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Colton and Charlotte, however, were both diehard Blues fans from day one. There were even pictures to prove it. They even went to a game on both their first ‘supervised’ date and ‘unsupervised’ date. So, when the Blues were making a run for the Stanley Cup– it was imminent for your families to attend at least one game. You and Mason did everything in your power to get the Blues attention. You emailed anyone and everyone who worked in their front office, you spammed their social media accounts– anything and everything to get their attention so you could share their story and Colton’s plan.
And at game four it all came to life. Charlotte was ‘randomly’ selected to participate in an intermission event after the first period where she’d be blindfolded and needed to walk along the ice to find Louie after collecting ‘Blues momentos’ along the way. The Blues had played the short slideshow of Colton and Charlotte that you and Mason had sent them, as they introduced her to the crowd. Unbeknownst to her, both of our families were on the ice with her, standing behind her while she was blindfolded. You and the other three siblings were scattered in front of her, each holding a single rose.
The Blues staff member helped her walk along the ice and the moment that she took a flower from someone, they needed to go back to where she started, which was where Colton was standing with the ring in his pocket. The four of you each had a sign, that when held up together read ‘Will you marry me?’ Once Charlotte neared Louie, he cut the distance to just by center ice where all of you were waiting. And when she found Louie, the entire crowd had erupted into cheers as she took off her blindfold, all smiles until she turned around to see the signs and Colton on one knee.
She said yes. The Blues won. The proposal went viral and your families were given a box to game seven where the Blues won the Stanley Cup.
All in a day's work between the two middle siblings, and one that led you all to this moment– the wedding tomorrow. Where Colton, who was already like a big brother yo you, would officially, pretty much become your big brother.
“Y/N,” your sister said, shaking your arm. “Y/N, get up. We’ve got like 45 minutes to get ready for dinner before we have to leave and no offense, but you need to shower.”
“Your lucky that you’re getting married tomorrow or I’d kill you,” you mumbled into the pillow, taking a deep breath and exhaling before pushing yourself up. “Can you charge my phone for me? I won’t take too long, just need to rinse off and I’ll be back.”
“In your backpack?” She asked as you walked out of the room.
“Mhhm, small front pocket. The charger is with it.”
You walked out of the room and into the connected bathroom, closing the door behind you before walking towards the shower and turning on the water. Your nap was more than enough to help you make it through dinner. You hadn’t thought that you were even that tired, but the moment you laid down to relax after eating your sandwich– you were absolutely knocked out.
To be fair though, you had spent the last two weeks partying it up on the beach with your college roommates, trying to relive every moment from your last four years of partying, downing booze, and making out with any attractive guy who caught your eye. You know what they say, no rest for the wicked– and boy, oh boy, were the wicked actions of shotgunning beers with strangers in the hot summer jersey sun, coming back to haunt you.
At least you got one hell of a tan and more memories to last you a lifetime, out of it all.
You turned off the shower before you stepped out and wrapped a towel around your body, then wrapping your hair up in a second towel. You walked out of the bathroom and back to the bedroom, only to find it empty. "Hey, Char?"
"In the living room...er, kitchen, I guess!"
You walked out of the bedroom and into the living room to see Charlotte sitting at the kitchen counter, a make-up mirror propped up in front of her and hot curling iron in her hand. "Why are you doing your hair in the kitchen?"
"You were in the bathroom and the lighting is lacking in the bedroom." She let a curl, fall from the iron and turned to you. "What's up?"
"Well, for one, the bathroom is free," you laughed, looking around. "And two, I was wondering where you put my suitcase? It was in the room and now it's not."
"No," she dragged out her reply, focusing on wrapping another piece of hair around the iron before averting her eyes towards the door. "You left it by the front door. Never brought it in."
You turned towards the front door and sure enough, right there not even three feet away from the door...was your suitcase. "Awesome, thanks!" You said, walking over and tugging on the handle, extending it out before walking back to the room. "And my phone?"
"Charging in the kitchen. It was dead by the way."
"Great," you huffed, walking into the bedroom and over to the bed. You lifted up the suitcase, letting it plop down onto the bed and exhaled a deep breath. It was a lot heavier than you thought it was. But maybe your body was just tired from traveling and last night's final night out.
You caught a glimpse of the alarm clock that was set up on the bedside table and saw that your getting ready time was vastly starting to dwindle. So, not thinking anything more of the heavy suitcase, you unzipped the zipper and threw the cover back, ready to grab the romper you had placed directly on top, just so it wouldn't get wrinkled. You stared down at the contents of the suitcase, quickly grabbing the cover and shutting it again.
Okay, maybe you were imagining things.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, exhaling, and then opening your eyes and opening the suitcase again.
No, you definitely weren't imagining things.
The same spike ball netting was still staring you right in the face. Surrounding it, were three spike balls and a crumbled up bag that was supposed to house the set. Beneath it, a bunch of crumpled up clothes and other things.
"No," you shut the suitcase again, repeating the same steps: close your eyes, take a breath, hope you're dreaming, open your eyes and then the suitcase, only to be disappointed. "No, no– oh my God, this can't be happening. Charlotte!!"
You heard her footsteps echo off of the wooden floor as she made her way to the bedroom, half of her hair curled and set. "What?"
"This isn't my suitcase."
"Of course it is," she scoffed. "Colton and I got you that big traveling set for graduation, and that," she pointed at the suitcase, "is it."
"No, it's not," You opened the suitcase and reached in, grabbing the first thing you felt and holding it up to show her. "See? Not mine!"
"Y/N," her eyes widened before she started to laugh. "You might want to put those down."
"It's just the spike ball bag, it's not big–" you turned to see what you were holding and sure enough, it was not the spike ball bag you thought you had picked up. It was a pair of Ant-Man boxers, and it was unknown whether or not they were clean or not. "Ah, ew!" You tossed them back into the suitcase, wiping your hand on your towel. "Ew, ew, ew, I just touched a stranger's dirty underwear."
"You don't know if they were dirty."
"You don't know if they were clean!" You argued back, looking around the handle for an identification tag. "This definitely isn't mine. My travel tag isn't on the handle."
"Who uses a travel tag?" She laughed, shaking her head.
"Me," you turned towards the suitcase, slamming it shut and zipping it. "I use a travel tag, so if my luggage gets lost or switched, they can contact me. It's common travel knowledge."
She sighed, walking over towards the suitcase and unzipping the two pockets on top, looking in and shaking her head. "Nothing hidden in those pockets. Did you think to go through the rest of the suitcase? Maybe they have a tag in there."
"And risk touching another pair of possibly dirty boxers and God knows what else? No thanks," you zipped up the suitcase and picked it up, placing it back onto the ground. "I'm doomed. That suitcase had all of the clothes that I took to Jersey, in it. It had my outfit and makeup for tonight."
"I have something you can borrow," she walked over to the closet, opening it to reveal it was empty besides two dresses hanging up. "And I've got make-up and whatever your little heart desires for your hair."
"Your wedding present was in there too," you sighed, walking over to the closet. "Which one?"
"This." She held out the rose-colored dress, handing the hanger to you. "You can get away with no bra and I can give you a pair of underwear from the new pack I bought this morning–"
"Why would you buy new underwear?" You asked, taking the dress.
"In case of emergencies," she closed the closet and turned back to you, nodding. "Which, this is. Unopened pack in that laundry basket I was carrying, feel free to take a pair and keep them. As for shoes...you're kind of on your own on that one."
You sighed, defeated as she walked out of the bedroom, leaving you to get dressed. You unwrapped the towel around your hair, letting it drop onto the floor as the towel wrapped around your body went with it. You took the dress off of the hanger and untied the straps, lifting the dress over your head and tugging it down. Your mind was going over every detail of just how you picked up the wrong suitcase. Fair, it was a dead-ringer for the suitcase you took with you to Jersey, but even you should have known to realize that there was no bright red luggage tag hanging on the side handle. And it was all you could do but hope that whoever picked up your suitcase thinking it was theirs, would at least call or text.
"Oh shit," you said, holding onto the straps that hung down on the side, trying to tie them in the back. "Charlotte! My phone!"
You ran out into the living room to see her now finishing up her make-up at the counter, turning to you with wide eyes. "Okay one, sit down and let me brush your hair," she stood up and grabbed your wrist, bringing you over to counter and sitting you down. "And two, your phone is right there."
"If they figured out our luggage was switched, they'd call! My luggage tag!" You reached across the counter, grabbing your phone and turning it over to see that the screen was still black. "Oh come on, my phone wasn't that dead!"
Charlotte tugged you back and started to brush your hair, not bothering to go slow. "I plugged it in the moment you went to take a shower, just give it a few seconds."
If looks could kill, your phone would be nowhere ready to turn on. You were glaring at the screen as if pure intimidation would turn it on. This could go one of two ways:
1) This person left your suitcase in the dark abyss that is lost luggage at the airport.
or
2) Like you, they didn't realize that they had grabbed the wrong luggage until they went to open it and they'll find your luggage tag and call you.
"Ah!" You yelled, jumping out of the chair as your phone lit up. You leaned over the counter, your heart racing as Charlotte tried to keep brushing your hair. "Come on, come on, come on..."
"Right there," Charlotte said, pointing at your screen as a text message notification popped up on the screen from an unknown number. "That has to be them!"
"Oh thank God," you sighed, thumb ready to swipe the message open. "Oh...yikes."
"Uh," Charlotte laughed as the two of you continued to watch your messages pour in, at least 5 coming in from the unknown number, along with three phone calls. "Yikes indeed, I guess they're panicking just as much as you are."
You swiped on the notifications, unlocking your phone, and going to the message.
unknown: hi y/n i think you grabbed the wrong suitcase...
unknown: yeah, uh, you most definitely grabbed the wrong suitcase.
unknown: is there any way we can switch in the next 30 minutes before i reach my house?
unknown: ok, so i'm sorry for the spam texts and calls...but this is kind of urgent.
unknown: like life or death.
"Life or death?" Charlotte asked, looking at you with a raised eyebrow. "What the hell was in that suitcase?"
"Spike ball and dirty clothes," you replied, shrugging. Your eyes went wide before you turned back to her. "What if they're a drug smuggler and there are drugs in there?"
She opened her mouth to speak before looking down at your phone, nodding. "Now's your chance to find out. Look who's calling."
You looked back down at your phone to see the unknown number flash on your screen. You looked back at her, shaking your head. "You answer it."
"Your luggage, you answer it," she laughed, pulling back segments of your hair to tie back. "But put it on speaker, I'm curious what the drug dealer sounds like."
You shoved your elbow back, avoiding her as you nervously slid your thumb across the screen, answering the call and pressing the speaker button. "Hello?"
"Oh thank God," the unknown called sighed, clearing his throat. "Sorry for the spam calls, I've just been panicking."
"Yeah, I’m sorry...my phone died," you replied, looking at Charlotte as your voice dwindled off.
"The suitcase," she mouthed, nodding her head back towards the room.
"Oh, the suitcase!" You said, almost a little too excited. You cleared your throat, calming yourself down. "I most definitely have your suitcase...maybe."
"Well I have yours," you could hear rustling in the background. "Y/N L/N, right?"
"Yep, that's me," you looked at Charlotte again, shaking your head. "Sorry to kind of do this...but how do I know I have your suitcase? I mean, what if I grabbed someone else's and you grabbed mine and there's three of us in this and–"
Charlotte smacked your back lightly with the back of the brushed, shaking her head as the voice on the other side of the phone laughed. "Um, shit," he coughed, smacking his lips. "Uh well, there should be a spike ball set in there. If not, then I left it at Johnny's. Otherwise, it's just clothes."
"Congratulations," you laughed, leaning back into the chair. "I've got your suitcase."
"Oh thank God, I was really worried there for a second," they replied. "Is there any chance we can exchange them soon?"
"Okay, so about that," you sighed, biting the inside of your cheek. "I kind of have a wedding rehearsal and dinner to go to in 20 minutes...and I don't think that will be over with till about...two hours from now. Is that okay?"
There was silence on the other side and you couldn't help but feel horrible at the fact that you were keeping this stranger away from his luggage and that he had to keep yours until then. "My family and I are going to dinner in two hours, reservation and all."
"Where at?" You spoke before your brain could even catch up with what your mouth was doing. "I'm sorry that was creepy."
He laughed and you felt a little flutter feeling in your stomach. "No, it's fine. I think we're going to Maggiano's in–"
"In the Westfield town center?" Your eyes widened as Charlotte placed the brush down on the counter behind you, looking at you with a smile. "We're going to Pieology in the Westfield town center!"
"Pieology for a wedding rehearsal dinner? Sounds like my kind of party," he laughed. "So, do you just want to exchange then? When I get there and you're leaving?"
"Sounds perfect!"
"Great! So I'll just, text you when I get there and I promise I won't forget the suitcase."
"Okay, I'll see you then."
"All right, bye, Y/N!"
"Bye!" You hung up the call and Charlotte leaned against the counter a smile on her face. "What?"
"He sounded cute." She stuck placed the extra bobby pins she didn't need, onto the counter. "Maybe he can be your date for my wedding."
"Not this again," you groaned, getting out of the chair. "For the last time, I don't need a date. Besides, this guy is a total stranger– I don't even know his name!"
"You can learn it later," she laughed, wiggling her eyebrows. "Either way, do your makeup quickly because we need to leave in ten."
She walked off towards the bedroom the two of you had claimed and you sighed, sitting back down into your seat, grabbing her mascara, blush, and golden liquid shimmer eyeshadow. It was the best you could do for now, until you got all of your stuff back from this stranger. As you applied the eyeshadow, you couldn't get Charlotte's comment out of your head. She was right, he did sound cute. But who's to say that he's not a total creep? Or that he's even your age? He could be in his 40's or even barely cruising 18. And then stood the real issue, you didn't even know his name.
Your phone screen lit up once again and you looked away from the mirror, seeing that you had another text from the unknown number. You furrowed your eyebrows and unlocked your phone, opening his text.
unknown: my name is matt, by the way 😊

Tumblr media
22 Jun 2017
It was just an ordinary school day, doing English in maths, chit-chatting in VA, and sneaking phone out in Science. Yes, very typical.
Your friend, Chaeryeong decided to bring you to her dance studio after school. You were never really into Kpop. You were more like a "Twinkie" who seems intimidating to others. However, you and Chaeryeong knew each other since forever, she knew the real you.
Sometimes, she felt like you just hanging out with her and her sisters is not enough. She wanted you to have more friends and join more activities but you just said it's fine. She was hoping bringing you to the studio will help.
Entering the studio, you sat down at the back.
"You're not going to join?"
You looked up at her. "Nah... I can't..."
"Well, okay. I hope you will change your mind though..."
"괜찮아..." (It's okay...)
She nodded and went to warm up.
You started scrolling your phone until you heard footsteps, and you looked up. A cat-eyed girl ran in, hands on her knees, breathing heavily.
"Hi... I... I'm sorry I'm... late-"
She looked at you and froze, with her eyes wide open. You started to worry, 'Is there something on my face? Do I know her? Oh my God-' Your thoughts were cut out by your best friend, "Oh right, Y/N, this is Yeji unni, she is from school. And Yeji unni, you know Y/N." She said with a smirk, the cat-eyed girl started to blush and looked away.
'Oh, she is from school.' You thought.
You caught her staring at you a few times through the mirror's reflection, she looked away quickly.
'Cute' You thought.
They started the practice when Chaeryeong's sister, Chaeyeon finally arrived. It was not the first time you see the Lee sisters dance, but Yeji, she is something else. The way she looked at you through the mirror when she was dancing gave you chills. It's like her glances can kill.
'Oh wow.'
When the practice ended, the four of you stayed because the Lee sisters suggested a get-to-know-each-other-more gathering. Well, they ordered chicken, you can't say no to chicken.
As you guys were waiting for the food, Chaeyeon suddenly pulled her phone out, "Have you guys listened to the latest Blackpink song yet?" 'Blackpink? As in black and pink???' The three of you said no. She signed and played the mv. It was like just Kpop at first, but when you listen to it the second time, you started to get addicted. The Lee sisters knew you way too much, "Y/N si, do you wanna learn the dance?"
"What- No-"
"We saw you nodding your head to the music, also the rap part!"
It's not a secret that you like raps but the girl with bangs just did so well and you're obsessed already.
"Come onnnnnnnnnnnn, you love to danceeeee."
Chaeyeon said and Chaeryeong pulled you up. Even though you acted like you didn't want it, you were glad your friends knew you that well. All of you picked your parts and started to learn the dance.
Chaeyeon saw you were struggling and got behind you to help you with the moves. Little did you know, someone was watching the both of you.
"Ohhhhh, okay. I got it now, Chaeyeon unni. Thank you."
"It's okay, haha." She said as she petted your head before hugging you.
Yeji watched with a pout, "Are you jealous, unni?" Chaeryoung teased. "Wha- No-" The cat-eyed girl got flustered again. Was it love at first sight? No. You were the "Twinkie" of the school which amazed her, you and the Lee sisters are best friends, it's hard not to notice you.
"They look good together..." She mumbled.
"THE FOOD IS HERE!!!" Chaeyeon screamed.
"Yah, unni! We're just right here." You said as you rub your ears.
"Awe, I'm sorry, my poor baby." She said as she hugged you and kissed you on your forehead.
Yeji pouted again, not knowing how to react. She wanted to get out of here and cry, but she can't. It'd be weird, and she wanted to get to know you. Maybe not as a love interest, but at least being friends would be nice. She held herself together and sat down on the floor with you all and ate.
7 Aug 2017
Three had turned to four, now that Yeji knew that you and Chaeyeon are just good friends made her relieved. You four hanged out even during summer, and Yeji finally dared to ask you to hang out with her, just the two of you.
"So."
"Yeah?"
"Where are we going?"
"Oh right, sorry haha. We're going to the carnival!"
"Wait, really?" You've been talking nonstop about the carnival but the Lee sisters were just too busy to get there with you while Yeji wanted to impress you by showing you that she did listen.
She nodded.
"OH MY GOD, I LOVE YOU!" You screamed as you threw yourself onto her to gave her the best hug she's ever received. She hugged back softly, cherishing every second of it.
24 Dec 2017
You and Yeji had grown extremely close in the past few months. The Lee sisters had been teasing the two of you being wives as you two weren't separated from each other.
"I think I'm losing my best friend to Yeji unni..." Chaeryeong said dramatically while having a hand on her chest, faking a pain. "I'm losing my baby too! Oh, this is so sad!" Chaeyeon said as they pretended to cry together.
"You guys... We're literally just here..." You said as you held Yeji closer.
"And you two are cuddling in our living room!"
"It's cold, and she is soft," Yeji said as she snuggled into you more.
"Get a room already!"
'These two... Aish...' Well, you love your best friends. Even when they tease you.
With all the teasing, this had made you wonder what would it be like if you two are actually something. It would be... Nice? It's quite hard to picture as you've never imagined anything like that. A few months ago, she was just the shy girl you didn't know, and now, she's one of your best friends that you're cuddling with on Christmas Eve.
"What are you thinking?" She asked and you snapped out of your thoughts.
"Nothing just got distracted."
"Awe, okay."
You wondered why she was so shy the first time you met her. And was she... Blushing? But that also brought you back to how she dances. How her body moved so smoothly, and those glances. They're just wow.
Was it love at first sight? Probably not, but you definitely had a little crush on her when you saw her dance.
These thoughts kept you up all night, wondering what would it be to date your best friend, holding hands, cuddling, and going out, as a couple.
5 May 2018
It was the game season, Yeji invited you three to the game. You've never watched her play before so you were very excited. On the other hand, she was as nervous as hell. She wanted to impress you but she also didn't want it to be too obvious.
"You're gonna do great, I just know." You said to her with a smile before hugging her.
She really needed that kind of support at that moment, from her "future" lover.
"Y/N..."
"Hm?"
"Can I get something if I am the MVP of the season?"
"Sure, is there something in particular that you want?"
"Yeah, but I will tell you once I am the MVP."
She's always so determined, and you love that about her. It's one of her charms.
"Mhm, okay. Well, good luck!" You gave her a peck on the cheeks, not thinking about her awkwardness.
The cool air hit the baseball player's face yet her cheeks were still burning. 'But no, Yeji. You have to get your head in the game.' She thought to herself.
17 Oct 2018
The day before the last game. She was practising hard. Seeing her so serious always amazed you in all the ways. You decided to bring her lunch as she probably forgot to eat due to being so focused on practising.
"Hey there, champ."
She stopped and looked at you with a smile. That smile you adore. So pure and just pure happiness to see you.
"Hey!" She said as she wiped her sweats away.
"I brought lunch!"
"Ah, this is why I love you more than the Lees."
It's not like they don't bring her lunches during practice. It's just someone who has a favourite.
18 Oct 2018
It's the final game. Yeji tried her best to get as much point as possible. And her posture looked so good. Seeing her efforts really impressed you. You also started to wonder what was that something she wanted.
"Hwang Yeji! Hwang Yeji!"
"SHE WONNNNN Y/N!!!" Chaeyeon screamed.
You waved happily to her and she waved back.
You guys met at the changing room after everyone was gone.
"So, unni. What was that something you want? Is it a shirt? Or you want me to treat you-"
"You." She stopped you.
"It's always been you. I just want to hold you and kiss you as my girlfriend. I'm in love with you, Y/N."
Oh... That's why she acted so awkward sometimes...
"I mean I get it if you don't feel the same, but like I can't hold this any longer. Before actually knowing you, you were this cool kid that everyone secretly admired. But after knowing you, you actually have a soft side. A loving side. You're so much more than just your looks. I am so in love with you..."
"Yeji... I think I'm in love with you too... I love how you put so many efforts into everything. I love your smile and your eyes. I adore them."
She looked down after hearing that.
"Please never hide your eyes, I know how you feel insecure about them, but they're so pretty, so unique, so... You. You're you and I love you for that..." The two of you stared into each others' eyes, slowly lent in. When your lips touched, there were like fireworks inside your stomach. Your heart was skipping like crazy.
The kiss was soft. You pulled away and rest your foreheads against each others'. You both closed your eyes with a smile, just enjoying each others' company. Until one of you finally decided to break the silence.
"So... Y/N..."
"Yes... Unni?"
"Do you... Wanna maybe go out with me?"
"Of course I do!"
You hugged her tightly and she hugged you back. You still didn't let go for a while. "Y/N? Are you okay?" "Mhm" "We've been in this position for a while now." "I know." You held her as if it's your last.

Badass lady from SWAT coming and Spence always gets nervous about seeing her even though it’s painfully obviously that she feels the same way :) but Spencer is just baby af 🥺
I think this idea is so cute, and I hope I did you justice!! Thank you for requesting, i made it a fem!reader x Spencer fic :)! (So sorry this took forever!)

SWAT
———————————————————————
You walked into the bureau building tiredly, you were grateful the events of yesterday had somehow wrapped themself up into a neat little bow. But now, you had the aftermath to deal with.
The aftermath of beauacracies, of files and paperwork, of court hearings. Because yesterday was a lot. There was an attempted bombing in downtown Quantico. Key word being attempted, thankfully though- it never happened. And your SWAT team had a big hand in helping.
So yeah, now you were here, meeting up with the BAU- who had lended your team a helping hand in finding where the bomber was located.
~
You entered into the bureau building, making your way up to the BAU’s floor through the elevator. As the machine whirred to life, taking you up to the floor- you were suddenly hit with the fatigue.
You were tired, you had worked nonstop yesterday to prevent a catastrophe, and then when you got home, you couldn’t sleep- who could expect you to? Especially after something like that, your mind was racing. You did eventually get to sleep at around 3 in the morning, but that didn’t help much considering you had to meet with agent Aaron Hotchner at 8 a.m. sharp.
So, fuck. The adrenaline and anxiety of the events had passed, and now you were feeling tired.
It’s not like you could do much about how sleepy you were, though. You had to talk to Hotchner, then you had to speak to their technical analyst to help you input your files into VICAP (SWAT’s computer system wasn’t as fancy as the bureau’s, so you weren’t fully familiar with the system.) but then, maybe after you spoke to the analyst you could get some coffee and go home. That would be nice.
~
The elevator got to your stop, and you stepped out with ease. You hadn’t been in the BAU’s office before, but the layout was simple. Bullpen was straight forward, there was a hallway past that (but you weren’t sure where that exactly led to, you supposed you’d find that answer out when the time came.) and you could see the larger offices past the bullpen, you were guessing that’s where you needed to go.
You entered through the glass doors into the bullpen, there were a few agents sat behind their desks, on phone calls or typing out on their computers- after all, the aftermath was always a lot of work.
~
You didn’t really know anyone in the BAU, except for Aaron Hotchner, Derek Morgan, and one very awkward guy- Doctor Spencer Reid.
You met Spencer a while ago, a few cases back when there was a local robbery turned hostage situation. That’s when your teams first interacted. As a local law enforcement group, you weren’t used to working with the feds- but the BAU was surprisingly tolerable. They let you and the police do what was necessary, all they did was observe and figure things out.
But how they figured things out, you’d never understand. You’d especially never understand Spencer, he would walk into a crime scene and be able to figure out the unsub’s mental state just by how the room was organized. It was surprising, and it was fascinating.
Though, that wasn’t the only reason Spencer especially took your attention when you first met the BAU. The other agents you met were very cut and dry, their personalities were kept mostly separate from their work. Spencer wasn’t like that, his work self and his regular self were one and the same. It was refreshing to see an agent so personable, you found it as a handsome quality.
He was awkward at times as well, which you thought was also an adorable quality. He’d go on to in depth explain a behavioral trait and how that probably meant the unsub was abused as a child or something, and before you knew it the conversation somehow shifted into his favorite medieval weaponry.
So whenever you got the chance to work with the BAU, you embraced it. Mostly because of the cute and awkward doctor, but also because if that meant you could solve a case and arrest a sick son of a bitch, you would.
~
You walked through the bullpen, making your way up the stairs to the larger offices you had seen earlier. You looked for a sign on the door to tell you whose office was whose, and thankfully the first door you saw said in simple lettering “SSA Aaron Hotchner”.
You knocked, hearing agent Hotchner’s voice say a simple “come in”. You opened the door, stepping into his large office.
“Agent Hotchner, good morning.” You said, a polite smile on your face as you made your way to the nearest seat across from his desk, Hotchner rose from his seat to give you a handshake. All these manners and rules were so tiring to do, but you could understand why- especially in such a beauracractic setting. Maybe that’s why you loved being in SWAT, though. There was no time for niceties or manners. You just got to go in, kick ass, and go.
“Good morning, y/n.” He replied as he sat back down into his chair, he reached down to a desk drawer, pulling out a fresh file.
“We just have to recount everything from your point of view, just so the bureau understands what the SWAT’s role was in our investigation.” He spoke as he reached for a nearby audio recorder on his desk, pressing the button on its side to turn it on.
“Sounds good.” You nodded, “Great, I’ll be taking some notes within the file as well. Just start talking.” Hotchner explained simply, before quieting down. You took a breath in before starting to speak, after all- the story was a long one.
~
Once you finished with Hotchner, you decided to wait on going to their technical analyst. After all, they were probably swamped at the moment. So, as you headed out of Hotch’s office, you weren’t sure what to do.
But then, it hit you.
It literally did hit you, and by “it”, it was Spencer. He was walking past Hotchner’s office at the same time you were exiting- you both practically collapsed into each other as the unexpected forces pushed against each other.
“Oh- shit! Sorry.” You apologized almost immediately, trying your best to pull yourself together. You were running on only about four hours of sleep, you were well aware you looked like shit- you were just hoping Spencer couldn’t tell.
“Y/n, I’m sorry- I was on my way to Rossi’s, I didn’t mean to-“ Spencer started, rambling again. And as much as you found it endearing, you didn’t want him to apologize.
“Don’t even worry about it, Spencer- you alright?” You asked him as you stepped back a bit to give him more room. He nodded, you’d swear there was a small blush on his face, but maybe it was the terrible fluorescent lighting off the office that was making it appear that way.
“I’m alright, thank you.” He smiled sheepishly, looking down to adjust the strap on his messenger bag.
“Thanks for your help with yesterday, by the way. I still have no clue how geoprofiling works, but it saved the day.” You complimented him, his sheepish smile only got larger.
“Well, we still couldn’t have done it without your SWAT team. I didn’t go in to stop the bomber- you did. That takes courage.”
Now you felt yourself blushing, maybe it was because you were so sleep deprived. But you had a feeling it might be for another reason as well. You just shrugged, though, doing your best to be casual about it.
“That’s what I train for, all part of a day’s work.”
Spencer nodded, “Still, though. It doesn’t make you any less courageous.”
You broke into a small grin, god- you’ve only spoken to this guy a handful of times. But you really enjoyed talking to him, and he seemed interested in talking to you.
“What are your plans after work?” You found yourself asking, mouth moving too fast for your brain to tell it to shut up in time.
“Uh, I don’t know..” Spencer started, awkwardly fumbling with his hands. “I just had to talk to Rossi, but then after that I’m free to go.”
“You already did all your paperwork?” You asked him curiously, surprised at how fast he could get it done. He nodded simply, “Yes, I didn’t really sleep a lot last night- so I got a head start.”
You frowned slightly, “How much sleep did you end up getting?” Spencer shrugged, “A couple hours.” You nodded silently, before the gears in your mind started turning.
“What do you think about coffee?” You asked him after a beat of silence, Spencer’s face twisted into a confused look.
“The concept of coffee?” He was lost, and it was adorable. You chuckled, “No- I meant, do you wanna get coffee with me after you finish talking to Rossi? I didn’t sleep enough last night either.”
Spencer nodded almost immediately in response, “Yes- yeah. That would be great, I would really enjoy that- you could, um, wait down in the bullpen if you want.” He offered, obviously unsure of what to do now.
You just found that once again, endearing, as you smiled at him kindly. “Sounds good, I’m excited.” You told him, he gave you one last smile before turning to go into Rossi’s office.
With that, you turned to go back to go down to the bullpen, waiting for Doctor Spencer Reid.

. . .
I don’t know why I’m still nervous now even when Jonghyun Hyung visited me earlier today during my performance broadcast to surprise me for celebrating my comeback. I am now at home, waiting for him to arrive from his parents house to announce his official discharge from the military. Even though we’ve known each other for more than a decade, I can’t help but worry that things might turn awkward for us.
I didn’t know how to react when Jonghyun Hyung surprise-visited me today, still in his uniform. I knew that I was extremely happy to see him but with all those people surrounding us and since I’m still new to this, I’m afraid they might suspect us. I hugged him properly and tightly only when we were finally left alone in my waiting room. Knowing him, he’d cry, which I always find endearing. I asked him why.
“I just missed you so much and you were amazing out there. I’m so proud of you,” he explained, his voice slightly faint and nasal from crying too much.
I looked into his puffy eyes and smiled goofily for seeing his face again after one long year.
“Okay, I have to save some tears for my family,” he joked, sniffling.
Jonghyun Hyung and I had been texting back and forth during his year of service. Almost every night, he would call me on video chat before he had to turn in his phone.
Around four months ago, it was a normal day for the both of us. However, he was acting strangely. He seemed extra jumpy and he talked so fast that I could barely understand what he was saying.
“What is wrong with you today?” I asked. He always told me whenever something was bothering him, but apparently, not this time.
“What are you talking about?”
“You’re acting weird.”
He paused for a while there. He aimed the camera away from his face for me to see only his shoulder.
“Hyung?” I called for him but he didn’t respond right away. We stayed like this for a whole five minutes, just me getting dizzy from watching my screen going round and round.
“Taemin, there’s something that I’ve been putting off telling you,” he started once the camera stopped spinning and I can see his face again. “You know how we’ve been spending time like this lately, and I must tell you, I’ve been very happy. Like, really very happy. I’ve been thinking about this a lot,” his voice sounded breathy.
I just continued to listen to him, quite confused, waiting for further information.
“I’ve been thinking about this a lot and...” he repeated, seeming fidgety. “I like you, Taemin.”
There was long silence. I had no idea what to say.
Next thing I know is that he said “Okay, good night!” and hung up. But he followed it by a text message saying, It’s okay, you don’t have to give an answer right now. Just tell me whenever you’re ready. Sleep well.~
We didn’t talk for a while after that, but we still texted. I began preparing for my comeback, weeks of practicing vocals and choreographies, plus video shootings. I became so busy that I almost didn’t think about what he told me.
After over two months of nonstop working, I finally caught days of break. I got to relax, thought about everything. My feelings for Jonghyun Hyung were always there but I guess I never really thought of it deeply since I didn’t think it was a big deal. When I heard it directly from him, although shocked and a little confused, I felt so happy as if my heart wanted to jump out of my body and run to him.
Talking to him by the end of every day is the moment I always looked forward to. I got unreasonably worried when I hadn’t heard from him all day. I was disappointed some nights that he’s too exhausted to talk and he had to go to bed early.
I had to tell him, too, how I felt so I decided to finally call him.
I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that he left to serve the military simply as Jonghyun Hyung and came back as my Jonghyun Hyung. It’s insane to think about. I don’t think I felt this blissful in my life. Talk about timing. I feel like running and jumping and screaming!
As I’m just sitting on my couch, still waiting for him to arrive, I feel restless, fidgeting my knees. My heart drops when I hear a knock on the door.
A gorgeous man appears before me holding a bouquet of flowers. “Congratulations, Taemin!” Jonghyun Hyung greets me with a sing-song voice.
I giggle at his cuteness of a smile. I gesture him to step inside as I took the bouquet from his hands. “Thank you, Hyung!” I say, trying not to sound too happy while I hug him.
After I offer him something to drink, we settle down on my couch. I inform him of my promotion process since he asked how I was doing first. Then I just watch him tell me all about his experience in the military. Eventually, his laugh is the only sound I’m hearing, and his smile is the only thing I’m seeing. It’s the most beautiful thing.
We talk for hours. Time passes by so quickly tonight that we lost track.
“By the way, where is your uniform?” I ask him.
“At home, why? Did you like how it looked on me?” he says, reading my mind.
I laugh. I’m too shy to admit that he did look hot in that military uniform. “Yeah, I think you looked taller in that,” I tease him instead.
“Hey!” he shouts, then punches me on my arm playfully.
I change the topic after we finish laughing. “It’s getting late, do you want me to drive you home?”
“Well...” He pauses for a moment, probably thinking how he should put what he’s about to say. “I was hoping I could stay here?”
“Huh?” Just like that I feel uneasy again. “Here?” My eyes eventually widen at him even when I don’t mean to. I don’t remember the last time I blinked.
“Forget it.” He’s laughing but I can hear the frustration in his voice. “I’ll just go.” He stands up from the couch and is about to head to the front door.
“Hyung!” I didn’t mean to yell. “I want you to stay,” I say gutlessly. He turns around to face me again.
“Why?” He reveals his frown this time.
“Day after tomorrow,” I try, but stuttering. “I will be busy again for the rest of the week so I might not be able to see you again for a while. So…”
“Taemin, obviously, you’re still not comfortable with this. It’s okay. I understand that this will take time. I’m still adjusting myself.” It’s true what he just said but I do want him to stay. I want…
Him.
My mind is out of control as my built-up desires take over. I run to him and clash my lips against his, drawing him even closer to me by his hips. I pull away after a moment. “But if you really want to go—”
He hushes me by clashing our lips together again even before I can catch my breath, this time it’s more tender but lustful.
His hands are now grasping my face and mine are starting to slide down at the top of his butt cheeks. Our bodies are colliding naturally, making me feel his hard-on against mine as our tongues taste each other.
He pulls away after a few minutes, already breathless. He looks in my eyes fiercely, biting his own lip. “I’m going to wash up,” he says, without changing his expression. He then goes running to my bathroom and slamming the door shut.
I’m finally able to breathe and just realizing that my heart is beating harder and faster. I can’t help but giggle at myself and fall back to the couch while I feel my face burning with my palms where he just touched me. “Hyung, what are you doing to me?”
. . .
I slowly open my eyes awake, feeling Hyung’s warm embrace wrapped around me from behind. I can also feel his breath against my ear. My heart is already full even when my day literally has just started. This has been the best sleep I’ve had in as long as I can remember.
“Taemin,” I hear him moan. He must’ve felt me waking up.
I carefully roll my whole body around to face him, then watch his precious skin shine along the morning light.
“How did you sleep?” he asks, his voice raspy.
“Perfect,” I say, smiling widely already.
I get out of bed to go to the toilet and let him linger on my bare ass.
I hear him sigh and chuckle, making me smile even wider.
I went back to the bedroom with a question in mind. “Hyung,” I call for him, rejoining him in bed. I hesitate.
“What is it?” He stares at me waiting to hear something else.
I look down for a second to think. “When did you start liking me?”
“Well,” he starts immediately, not breaking eye contact which makes my cheeks feel hot. “I asked myself that question a lot, too, way before I confessed to you. Of course it was confusing at first but it was no use fighting it. I have no idea when I started to like you, just like how no one knows when exactly the weather turns from spring to summer or from summer to fall. Eventually, I just started feeling differently towards you. A feeling that is hard to explain through words.”
I just nod lightly, looking down at his bare muscled chest. Once again, not knowing how to respond. He pretty much spelled out my answer to that question too.
He scoots closer to me and touches my nose with his, his forehead on mine. “I’m just lucky enough that you like me too,” he says, tears shape up in his eyes.
“Oh, Hyung,” I empathize, putting my arm around him. “I can’t wait to tell the guys.”
“Really? You want to tell them right away?”
“Yes, they’re our best friends. I’m sure they’ll be happy for us.”
“Okay, let’s tell them together then.”
After we have our little conversation, we just stay nose to nose and embrace each other’s blissful presence for a while. Then once again, our mouths touch, as well as our naked bodies, and experience the taste of pleasure we have for each other.

Somewhere Only We Know
“You’re gonna get pissed.” He warns.
“Seriously, Justin, just tell me what’s going on.”
“Fine,” He pauses again, this time so long Kat is about to lose it, when he finally blurts, “We could get married.”
A Spinning Out fic.
A/N: A few things to get straight: what little knowledge I have about the Olympics, the Village, and ice skating in general is very limited and based solely on what I can find online. Please go easy on me; I’m new to this world. Most of my research for Beijing’s Games is speculation based on past Winter Olympics combined with me also making some of it up.
Also, as we know, we only got one season of this amazing show. While I have done my fair share of research (aka watched every Katstin scene an embarrassing amount of times), if you don’t remember some of the smaller details I mention it’s quite possibly because I made them up. Bare with me and go with it. I’m doing my best.
-
She’s been staring at the ceiling for nearly two hours. She knows this because in those two hours, Kat Baker has looked at the clock more times than she can count. But she’s done her best to stay still and focus on sleep, because if ever a good reason to need a solid night’s rest, this is it. Plus, she isn’t alone.
But it’s been nearly two hours. And after feeling her bedmate shift for the third time in less than ten minutes, she can’t help herself.
“Are you awake?” she speaks softly in case she’s wrong.
“Yes.” Justin’s voice comes so instantaneously it’s obvious he has been for a while. He rolls over onto his side to face her, clearly fed up with the charade. “I know we’re supposed to be too excited to sleep or whatever, but I figured jet lag and exhaustion would kick in eventually.”
Kat sighs. “I don’t think I can lay here anymore.”
“Screw it. Let’s go walk around or something. Get some food. I don’t know,” He shrugs, “Everything is open 24/7 here. Might as well take advantage of it.”
Kat bites at her lip. They have practice tomorrow at 9am sharp and Dasha will kill them if they’re stumbling around exhausted, but she’s so stir crazy right now she can’t bring herself to care.
Alright, let’s go.”
They both dress quickly and head for the door, remembering to grab their ID badges from the nightstand and doing their best to remain silent as they slip through the common room. Their hands find each other in the elevator as they depart from the ninth floor, and they both give a courteous nod to security as they exit the dorm.
February in Beijing is beautiful, and despite being nothing more than a glorified college campus, the Olympic Village somehow still manages to blow both Kat and Justin’s minds. With a large handful of sky-high dormitories divided up by country, the Village is filled with basic amenities like a post office, bank, laundry facility, a convenience store, several gyms, and a huge cafeteria containing cuisine from around the world at every hour of the day.
Kat and Justin have been here for eight days so far. The first two days were spent getting settled with the other Team USA skaters and personnel, the third day they participated in the Opening Ceremony, and the remaining time has been spent using their allotted practice sessions, hitting the gym for light workouts, and enjoying the experience. They’ve also seen a few events, which is a highlight, and done a couple interviews (Dasha promises there are more to come- super) and some press work.
Mostly though, they’ve been staying close and trying to remain in a good headspace. Their competition begins in three days and their families arrive tomorrow, so for the most part they’re taking Dasha’s advice and focusing on each other.
“This is yours to lose,” she’d said. “Don’t over-think anything. Just stick together and enjoy it.”
This probably isn’t what she meant, but whatever.
After leaving the dorms behind, the duo makes the short walk into the heart of the Village, the nightlife scene far more alive than some might expect. The Village is open 24 hours a day for a reason. Some athletes prefer to train in the later hours, jetlag affecting a large amount, and some seem to need an escape to rid themselves of the jitters. One thing is clear though: everyone is tense. It’s like a university during finals- the pressure is on and everyone is feeling it.
“We should probably skip the caffeine, but how ‘bout hot chocolate?” Justin proposes, their linked hands swaying between them as they approach the commissary.
Kat nods. As much as a huge cup of coffee sounds appealing right now, he’s right. With any luck they’ll hopefully be able to manage at least a few hours of shuteye after this little excursion and a latte screams bad call.
After getting two steaming cups of cocoa (caramel in hers- she’d agreed to forgo the caffeine, not the sugar) they find an empty bench just far enough off the main pathway for a bit of privacy. So far it’s been a blast meeting and getting to know the other athletes from around the world, including several of Kat and Justin’s personal idols, but two AM just isn’t the hour preferred for socializing.
For a while they sit in silence, enjoying the peace and tranquility and the rare chance to people-watch the night owls between sips from their respective biodegradable cups.
“Feeling any sleepier?” Justin questions finally, causing the brunette under his arm to sigh.
“Will you judge me if I say that I’m even more awake than before?”
Justin lets out a curse. “I was hoping it was just me.”
“Gotta love Olympic life,” she ruses, “Well, I’m not going to the gym.”
“Fuck that,” he agrees. They’ve been practicing nonstop as it is. Neither of them is in the mood to ruin what little free time they do have, especially since Dasha never shuts up about the importance of not overdoing it.
“I don’t know. Nothing sounds appealing.” Kat continues, “But I don’t want to just sit here all night.”
For a moment silence falls again until Justin begins to fidget, shifting in his seat and catching her attention.
“What?” she demands, the look in his eye giving him away just like always.
“Nothing.” He quickly dismisses, shaking his head. “Never mind. I’m an idiot. Forget it.”
Kat rolls her eyes. “I know you’re an idiot,” she teases, “You’re my idiot though, which means I’m privy to all of your idiocy.”
“Seriously Kat, drop it. It was a dumbass thought. Let it go.”
“Hey,” the change of tone in his voice causes her to pull back, finding his eyes. Clearly he’s getting upset about something. “Talk to me.”
Justin stares at her for a minute. “You’re gonna get pissed.” He warns.
“Seriously, Justin, just tell me what’s going on.”
“Fine,” He pauses again, this time so long Kat is about to lose it, when he finally blurts, “We could get married.”
Silence.
“What?” It takes all of Kat’s strength not to screech the word. “Are you- what?”
“I said it was dumb!”
“It’s the middle of the night.” she sputters. “Our families aren’t here. We’ve only been together-”
“What feels like forever sometimes,”
Kat gives him a dirty look. “Really? You’re choosing now to fuck around?”
He raises his hands in defense.
“Look, it was just something that popped in my head.”
“Of all the possibilities, this was the random thought you had?”
Justin glances toward the ground, causing her eyes to go wide.
“This isn’t the first time?” Kat pauses, her voice finally falling back down to its regular decibel. “You’ve thought about this before?”
“Have I thought about marrying you?” Justin snorts, giving up on his hesitance as the insanity of the situation triggers brutal honesty. “I’m 25, Kat, and I’ve been in love with you longer than the two years we’ve been together. Yes, I’ve thought about it.
“Don’t look at me like that.” He says quickly. “I don’t have a binder filled with details or anything. It’s just something I’ve thought about, that’s all.”
This seems to catch her attention.
“Like what?”
“Like… I don’t know.” He shrugs. “You probably don’t want something too big or flashy. Which is awesome, because while my dad will lose his shit and it’ll drive Mandy nuts, I’m actually on board with small and simple. And I know you’ll kill me if I spend too much on the ring, which is the one thing I already have covered-”
“You have it covered?” she interrupts. “Like what, you’ve already bought it?”
He pauses for a minute, staring at her before letting out a sigh.
“I don’t want to freak you out.”
“Justin, seriously, I swear to fucking god-”
“Fine!” he holds up his hands in surrender. “Just give me ten minutes. Stay here.”
“Stay here? Where are you going?” she wants to hit him when he rises from the bench. “Are you kidding me right now?”
“Stay here!” He repeats.
“Fuck off!” she cries, yet for some reason her ass remains glued to her seat.
The following ten minutes pass in a slow blur, because what the actual fuck? Ironically it isn’t their relationship, but the fact that they’re skating for Olympic medals in three days that assures her he wouldn’t just leave her sitting in the middle of the Village like a moron, when Justin returns with his hands in his pockets, looking even more nervous than when he left. (Which is understandable, because there’s at least a 50% chance this could lead to his death.)
He lets out a breath as he sits back down next to her, finally revealing his hands and holding up a respectably sized (but not too gaudy) ruby in a band of gold. He places the ring in the palm of her hand, giving a small shrug.
“It was my mom’s.” he explains quietly. “I’ve had it since she died. Dad said she planned on giving it to me eventually.”
“Justin-”
“Look, it was a dumb idea. And I didn’t mean to freak you out, especially when literally the biggest event of our lives is in three days, but… I don’t know.” He shrugs again. “I just started talking and you didn’t stop me. So here we are.”
“So what, you just carry this with you everywhere you go?”
“Fuck you. It’s called being prepared, Baker.”
Kat goes quiet for a minute, her eyes falling from his understandably stressed face to the ring still perched in her palm. This is quite literally the last thing she ever would’ve expected, and yet for some reason the idea of turning him down isn’t her gut reaction. It’s crazy, yeah, but she does love him and they’ve been together for a while. Hell, practically everyone and their brother has brought it up, so it’s not like she hasn’t thought about it, and at the end of the day she could think of a lot worse ways to live her life than spending it with Justin.
“Your mom must’ve had small hands too. Although… I guess we won’t really know if it fits unless you put it on me.” She murmurs finally, causing his head to snap up.
“What?”
“I mean, I won’t be able to wear it on the ice, obviously,” she continues, “And we should probably wait until after the Games to tell anyone, because it’ll only be more pressure if we’re labeled the American Newlywed team. Plus, our families are no question going to kill us- Dasha at the front of the line. We’ll probably have to have some sort of party to make it up to them. Especially Mandy.”
“Are you saying yes?” he asks breathlessly, still unsure if he’s in a daze or acquired brain damage from the cold.
A small grin breaks out on Kat’s face. “I must be crazier than we thought.”
“You’re saying yes!” he surges forward to kiss her, hoping all of his joy can be transmitted through the pressure of his lips. “Holy shit.”
“Does it count if you never put the ring on me?” she questions through a giggle, causing him to let out a laugh of his own as he takes the ring and slides it onto her finger with shaking hands.
“Perfect fit.” He observes, part of him not even surprised because fate is just on their side tonight apparently, before leaning in to kiss her again. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She grins. “Mr. Baker,”
Justin laughs. “You joke, but I really could not care less.” He pauses for a second. “Hey, look, I’m sorry this isn’t something better. I mean, I wasn’t planning on renting out the Eiffel Tower or anything, but I wanted to at least make a speech or something. Most of all I know it’s something I planned to talk to you about beforehand.”
Kat shrugs. “Might as well have this be just as weird and dysfunctional as everything else about our lives, right?” She says with a dry laugh. “Besides, you can save the speech for your vows.”
Justin stares at her for a second. “You seriously want to get married at 3AM in a foreign country, in secret, three days before the biggest competition of our careers?”
“Are you getting cold feet already?”
He laughs. “I’m just making sure I’m not dreaming.” He says honestly.
“Oh, you’re awake. And it’s too late to back out now, Davis.” She holds up her left hand where the ring sparkles, looking, Justin can’t help but notice, like it’s always belonged there. “I’ve already got the hardware.”
Justin grins. “Guess I’m stuck then.”
“Looks like it.”
“Huh.” He stands up from the bench and offers her his hand. “Then let’s go get married.”

MATCHMAKER pt.1
pairing: roseanne park × fem! reader
genre: fluff, angst
about:
matchmaker /ˈmatʃmeɪkə/
noun
a person who arranges marriages or initiates romantic relationships between others.
"an enthusiastic matchmaker who continually tried to pair off the difficult bachelor with unattached ladies"
a/n: i'm back!!! hehe this goddamn thing took so long to write, i both despise and adore it with every fibre of my being. enjoy my blood, sweat and tears in the form of a fic.
Tumblr media
You loved your job. Very few people are lucky enough to be able to relate to that statement, and you were thankfully one of them. Hell, not only did you love your job, you were extremely good at it.
Since you were a little kid, writing nas always been your biggest passion. Wether it was writing short stories, poems or essays about the french revolution, you were always happy when you were able to put your feelings and thoughts onto paper. This was the main reason why you became the manager of your local newspaper during middle school, high school and eventually even university.
You've won multiple writing contests and even people who had no idea what your name was knew one thing about you: you were an amazing writer.
Years of practice, your impeccable set of skills and a recommendation letter from your university professor secured you a job at Vogue almost immediately. After all this hard work, you finally achieved everything you were looking for. You were truly happy.
Until this very moment.
"Well, I don't know," the woman sitting in front of you made a disgusted grimace, "it just lacks any emotion whatsoever. I've quite literally never read something so stiff and akward."
And here they were. The first words of criticism you have ever recieved. You were so used to everyone praising your work, you didn't know how to react or respond.
Three months ago, you would have never gotten into a similar situation: simply because there was nothing about your work to critize. But a lot has changed in the past few weeks, and not exactly in the good kind of way.
When you first joined Vogue, you were the head editor and journalist of the spread dedicated almost entirely to interviews. Thats what you did, talked to celebrities and wrote about them. And that's what you were good at, almost too good.
Just a year after working in the magazine you got promoted. You were still the head editor, but now of a completely different part of the journal: one dedicated to a single topic. Love. This was bad news, very bad news.
Why, you ask? The reason was fairly simple but no less embarrassing. Even as the head editor of a spread all about love, you've never experienced it yourself. In other words, you've never been in love. And how are you supposed to write about something you know nothing about?
Your boss looks at you and shakes her head. She reaches for the stack of papers on the table in front of her and starts reading, "For example; 'His lips brushed against mine. They were soft. The kiss was short but sweet. I loved it.' What the actual heck? I kiss my cat more passionately than this." she took off her glasses and started massaging the crook of her nose.
"Listen, Y/N, I've read your previous pieces and they were simply wonderful. But this? I don't even know what else to say without hurting your feelings."
"I'm so sorry. I know, it's just that I dont have much experience in said area." you don't finish the sentence, hoping she somehow gets the memo. She doesn't.
"What area?"
"Love. I dont have much experience with love." you blurt out the words that have been on your mind nonstop since the day of your promotion.
"Oh, you poor thing" she leans back in her chair, her eyes scanning your every move, "Isn't that unfortunate."
You nod your head slowly, trying not to get offended at her words full of pity.
"How are you supposed to write romance stories then? This won't work." the woman grabs a post-it note
"Are," your voice cracks in the middle of the sentence, "Are you firing me?"
"Are you crazy? Of course I'm not," she hands you the piece of paper with a phone number, "We just have to improvise for the time being. Do you know Roseanne Park? She's the manager of our Matchmaker spread. You can be her assistant for the next few months, help her around, learn a thing or two. Hopefully your writing wont be so...bland after."
To be completely honest, you didn't handle changes well. Maybe that's why you were standing in front of your new, and hopefully temporary, bosses office, trying to build up the courage to knock on her door.
One of the reasons why you were so nervous was that Roseanne Park, the manager of the Vogue Matchmaker was insanely attractive. Admittedly, you did some online stalking the night before- okay, a lot of it. Here's the thing; you were a planner. Whether it came to your career, writing or even relationships, you liked to beprepared.
That's why after a few hours spent on the internet, you knew everything. The name of her sister (Alice Park), if the had a pet (yes, a fish named Joohwangie) and who her favorite band was (The 1975).
You weren't usually like this, so head over heels for a girl you haven't even met. But your writing, the reason you were here in the first place, didn't usually suck so after all, some things really do change easily.
Just as you reached for the dark wooden door in front of you, it opened before your hand could even touch it's sleek surface.
"Oh!" the tall woman stopped in her tracks. Thanks to your thorough internet digging, you instantly recognized her. Roseanne Park. Your new boss. A 'matchmaker' if you will.
"You must be Y/N! I've heard that you're going to be my assistant for a bit." your cheeks heated up for no apparent reason. Did she know the reason why you got transferred here so quickly? Every molecule in your body wished and prayed to every possible god out there that she didn't.
"Yeah, that's me!" you finally composed yourself enough to speak, but that didn't mean your voice didn't sound like one of a twelve year old boy going through puberty- high pitched and squeaky.
You examined her face more in depth, and realized quite a few things:
She was somehow even prettier in real life. How? you had no idea. Some people just really won the genetics lottery, you thought.
Her hair was red. Like undeniably, undoubtedly red. In all of the pictures you found yesterday it was either brown or black, so this change caught you off guard. You couldn't complain though, because this girl looked like a hotter version of Ariel with a much better sense in fashion (and music).
"Have you been standing out here for too long?"
"Oh no, I just arrived." lying has never been so easy.
"Great! I'm gonna go downstairs to grab a package but you can look around the office while I'm gone," she opened the door a bit to let you walk in.
You did as she told you and entered the room. The door closed behind you without you noticing, the only thing you could focus on was this girl's office. It looked just like you would imagine heaven to look like- full of light, white furniture and expensive looking leather couches.
There were pictures everywhere: a dozen of four young girls (one of them being Roseanne), a few more of her with famous celebrities and one of a familiar looking face- her sister.
You carefully walked towards the table in the middle of the room, not wanting to damage anything. You noticed quite a bit of unexpected clutter, and above everything a print of the brand new Vogue issue. A woman on the cover flashed you a beautiful smile as you picked it up. The headline stated: Kim Jisoo talks acting, NYFW and love.
You flipped the glossy magazine pages to find the spread dedicated to said interview and noticed just what you were looking for: the author of the article. The credits at the bottom of the page revealed a nice surprise- Author; Roseanne Park.
"Well what do you think? Is it a good article?" your soul almost left your body when you realized who was standing next to you. You quickly put the magazine down, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to touch your stuff. I just saw the cover and..."
"Oh my gosh, are you kidding? That's completely okay, I don't mind." she pointed to the journal, "That interview is actually one of the favorite pieces I ever wrote, and not just because it's about Jisoo. Plus, my friend took the pictures, so it was extra fun." She opened the spread again and pointed to a name credited right next to hers, Photographer; Lalisa Manoban.
"Oh wow. I've seen her pictures before, they're really good. I with I could take photos like that. Seriously."
Here's one thing to note: when you're nervous, you ramble. Like a lot. Some people would say its better than staying silent, but let's be honest- it's like stepping into a puddle instead of mud. Not a disaster, but there's still plenty to complain about.
Thankfully, Roseanne only giggled, "I know exactly what you mean. I hope you'll get to work with her someday."
You both stared at the magazine spread for a second before Roseanne broke the silence.
"But now, let's get to bussines. Sit down please, this might take a while," she pointed tkwards one of the leather couches you noticed earlier and took a seat at the other side of the table.
"So, as you probably already know, my name is Roseanne Park. As a manager of Matchmaker, my job is to read these letters," she grabben a handful of papers for emphasis, "and respond to them, give advixe basically. The title 'Matchmaker' comes from the fact that the majority of the letters talk about love. Any questions so far?"
When you shook your head no, she continued, "As my assistant, your job is fairly simple. You're going to sort and read through the hundreds of letters I recieve weekly and pick the most interesting ones for me to feature. And occasionally, you might accompany me to a few interviews. Sounds good?"
You slowly nodded, processing all the new information. Letters, answers, interviews and a hot boss. That doesn't sound so bad.
"Great. So Y/N," she suddenly stood up, "Would you mind going with me to Subway? I'm starving."
By the time you were finished with lunch, you had a new point to add to your list of realizations about your new boss:
She loves food, and by loves I mean LOVES.
The moment you arrived at the restaurant, food was the only thing she would talk about. She told you about what she had for dinner and breakfast, what kind of snacks she hid in the office and what kind of salad she was getting alongside a baguette.
After she actually managed to get a bit of calories into her system (thanks to a foot-long chicken turkey sandwich) the conversation finally got more interesting.
Don't get me wrong, you could listen to this girl talk for hours, no matter the topic. But after listening to a thirty minute long monologue about why pineapple pizza is the best thing ever invented, even you have reached your limit.
"So," you start, in an effort to break the ice, "how long have you been working at Vogue?"
She squints at the toast in front of her, trying to remember, "About five years? Yeah, it's gonna be five years in May."
"Oh wow, that's impressive."
She tilts her head, "Is it? I mean, when you work as often as I do, time just goes by. I don't even remember the last time I went out with my friends to discuss something that wasn't work related."
You pout, regretting the choice to ask her about work.
"But at the same time, I love what I do so I can't really complain. What about you though? Why did you decide to become a journalist?"
"Oh, I started just a year ago. And I studied literature, so I guess becoming a journalist made sense."
"Why did you study literature then? There's so many other better paying jobs out there."
"I don't think anyone works in such a field for money, that's for sure," you try to lighten the atmosphere, "Well, my mom wanted to become a writer, but she got pregnant before she could finish her book and she's been pretty much busy ever since. I guess her love for books kind of rubbed off on me."
Roseanne nods, to let you know she's listening. "I'm glad you and your mom have such an important aspect of your lives in common. My mother wanted me to become a lawyer, I doubt she's ever read even a single fiction book in her entire life."
"What does she think about your job now?"
Her lips tighten and she crosses her arms. "I don't know. I haven't talked to her since," her eyes seem empty, their signature spark gone. You can tell you struck a nerve. "I haven't talked to her since I moved out."
"Well, I'm sure that she's proud of you," you can't help but add.
Rosie lets out a dry laugh, "You don't know my mother then," she slowly pushes her plate away, "I think I'm full so I'm gonna head back to the office."
Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut. You learned this the hard way.
You head back after your lunch break ends, alone. Even though Roseanne walked you through everything she expects you to help around with, you know that your job doesn't start and end with sorting through letters.
You softly knock on the office door before heading in. She's already sitting there, behind her desk. Without looking up from her laptop, she scoffs, "You're late."
"It's just five minutes," you shrug, not taking her tone seriously. Finally, she raises her sight to meet yours. Even without her saying anything, you understand. Do not play around with fire.
You mumble an apology and quickly run to the small hallway at the other side of the room which leads to your own (significantly smaller) office.
"What makes you think I'm done?" Turning around, you notice that her eyes are piercing through your back. Unsure of what she expects you to do, you walk back in front of her.
"While you were out there doing god knows what for two hours," you resist the urge to roll your eyes, "I already did your job and sorted through the letters. You're welcome."
She walks around the table and pushes a thick stack of papers against your chest, "That means you'll be doing my job and write replies to them. Can you handle that?"
You try not to show her how terrified you are. You? Giving relationship advice? Sounds like a recipe for a royal disaster. Instead, you rise your chin and smile, "Yes ma'am."
She visibly winces at the formal title, but still nods and returns to her seat. You take this as a sign to head back to your spot and do your job. Well, her job for now.
You sit down calmly and shuffle through the papers, trying not to look too freaked out. What the heck are you going to do now?
A quick peek at your boss reveals that she's either busy with work or just flat out ignoring you.
Trying to remain collected, you pick out the top letter from the pile. The first paragraph reads:
Hi Rosie! I'm a huge fan of your Matchmaker spread :) I never thought I'd be the one writing you a message but here we are hahaha. (Let's hope this gets featured!)
You roll your eyes but continue reading,
Me and my boyfriend have been dating for just about two months and I would describe our relationship as 'lowkey'. We first met at a bar a last year but we surprisingly didn't immediately hit it off.
With a raised eyebrow you skip over a page full of sappy descriptions and relationship stories, before getting to the end of the letter.
So what should I do? He's really sweet but I'm not sure if I'm ready to meet his family just yet.... please help! Love, Courtney.
You fold the paper back to it's original state with a quiet gulp. What on earth did you get yourself into?

“You deserve to be treated like the goddess that you are.”  Virgil to Roman to counteract the Roman angst
I’m changing goddess to royalty because roman’s a prince and it makes sense haha sorry not really sorry
(food tw) could be read platonic or pre-romantic
Roman rose into his room, immediately putting his head in his hands. He was incredibly exhausted from the long day he spent brainstorming ideas and creating a video script for Thomas. He was grateful to finally be back in the comfort of his room.
He rubbed at his eyes; in Roman's personal opinion, the creative side didn't get enough sleep for the tasks he completed that day. This only caused him to be more exhausted. It was already draining to be working nonstop all day.
Roman stood almost still in the middle of his room for two minutes. He still needed to work tomorrow, but his future self would be incredibly grateful if he already got a head start.
Roman itched to change out of his princely attire and into some lighter, less warm clothes. But had yet to eat dinner so he had to keep looking his best.
What if you took a one hour break?
Roman immediately shook his head, dismissing the thought. He needed to start working on the short video for the following week. He couldn't afford a break, not even one shorter than an hour.
Roman sighed, exhaustion showing clearly in his face and shoulders. He massaged his temples, mentally preparing himself to get back to work.
A knock sounded at Roman's door. Roman tore his head from his hands and walked towards the door slowly, curious as to who it could possibly be at this hour.
He opened the door to find a nervous Virgil, who was shifting his weight between his feet as he waited for Roman. Virgil looked to the prince as soon as he registered Roman's presence.
"Virgil," Roman greeted curiously. "Forgive me, but what are you doing here? You rarely visit me, especially at this hour."
Virgil opened his mouth to reply, then but his lip. He frowned, brainstorming the best way to say what was on his mind.
"Well?"
"You weren't at dinner, Princey. Or breakfast. Or lunch. You've been helping Thomas all day, and when you aren't with him, you're working. Have you eaten?"
Roman's eyes widened in slight surprise. "Is it already dinner time?"
"It's past dinner, Roman."
Roman’s eyes widened further. He was going to make an exclamation over this, but decided against it. “Oh.”
Virgil crossed his arms and gave him a criticizing stare. “Patton missed you. I was worried.”
“I’m sorry. I was just working,” Roman apologized quietly. “You shouldn’t worry about me.”
Virgil’s arms dropped. “I’m literally Anxiety.”
Roman chuckled before correcting himself. “You shouldn’t worry about me any more than usual.”
Virgil went to speak again, contemplating whether or not to say what he had on his mind. “I...” he took a deep breath, “...I can’t help it.”
Roman frowned. “What?”
Virgil sighed. “Can I come in?”
“Oh, of course!” Roman said hurriedly, stepping back so Virgil could enter his room. “I’m sorry I kept you out, letting you in slipped my mind. I didn’t mean to be rude. Sorry.”
“Hey, Princey, it’s okay,” Virgil replied immediately, a bit startled by Roman’s lengthy and unnecessary apology. “You’re fine.”
“Sorry, Virge, I’m just a bit tired. It’s getting a bit late, isn’t it?”
Virgil nodded. “No need to apologize. And yes, dinner just ended so it’s not like it’s early.”
“What did you mean earlier?”
Virgil exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. “You...you’ve been worrying me lately, to put it lightly.”
Roman nearly choked on air. “Lightly?”
Virgil shrugged. “You’ve been working yourself past your limits. I haven’t seen you all day. You’re hardly eating. I don’t know how much water your drinking but dollars to donuts it isn’t nearly enough. Same goes for sleep. I did see your room light on at four a.m. two nights ago while I was going water in the middle of the night. That deeply worried me, but I was too tired to do anything right then.”
“Things have just stacked up a bit, Virgil. I have a lot of stuff to do, especially this week. Surely you understand,” Roman said, trying to excuse his actions.
“The work won’t be as good if you don’t at least do the bare minimum to take care of yourself,” Virgil pointed out. He paused for a moment. “But it’s not the work that matters.”
“It def-”
“No, it’s not,” Virgil interrupted. He put a hand on Roman’s shoulder. “Ultimately, if we lose our creativity to one project, we’ll never be able to do more projects. Or, at least, not as well as you could’ve. We can’t have you burn out.”
“So sacrificing one project for all the rest in the future is what you’re suggesting? How do you know that will work?”
“I don’t. And frankly, I don’t care,” Virgil said honestly. “I couldn’t care less about the concept of the work. All that matters to me is people being satisfied with what we put into the world. I have no attachment to creating content. However, in this situation, the work is what you care about. It’s all that matters to you.”
Roman nodded solemnly. Virgil’s disinterest to what Roman created didn’t surprise him. “It is. But if you don’t really care much about what I create, then why do you care so much right now? Why are you so worried?”
“I want what we put out to be good,” Virgil said, before pausing and then letting out a small laugh. “But, ultimately, what matters to me in this situation is you.”
Roman looked up at him, shock ghosting across his face.
“Don’t look so surprised, Princey,” Virgil teased. “I care about you. While I don’t have an attachment to creating content, I have an attachment to you.”
“You what-”
“Don’t make me sound more sappy then I intend to,” Virgil interjected. “All I’m saying is that you are important to Thomas, and by extension, important to me. If we don’t have you, what will we do? Who will come up with brilliant ideas? Who will go on Disney marathons with me? I need to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.” Virgil held Roman’s chin and stared him in the eyes. “So, Sir Sing-A-Lot, have you been taking care of yourself?”
Roman stared at Virgil for a long second, processing what Virgil said and wondering whether or not he could lie and make his neglection of self-care practices seem better than it was.
“Ye-”
Virgil gave him a scolding look.
Roman broke eye contact and whispered “no” in a small, quiet voice.
Virgil gave him a small nod, releasing his chin. “Alright. You have admitted it. Now, we need to get you some dinner and then some rest.”
“But the wor-”
“Shut up,” Virgil said quickly. “No more work for you tonight.”
“But Virgi-”
“I know you’re thinking you’ll be better off if you work now, that you’ll be happy with yourself in the future, but you won’t. You likely won’t notice the difference. But taking a break will noticeably affect you. You will thank yourself for taking a break later.”
Roman nodded, knowing he had no choice but to agree.
“So tonight, we will eat pizza, watch your current favorite show or a movie while eating ice cream, then we’ll get you to bed at a healthy time,” Virgil stated firmly. “Then, tomorrow, I can prepare you a nice hot bath with rose water in it or whatever, and then after you can work until lunch. After that, we are taking the rest of the day for self care or relaxing stuff.”
Roman was shocked Virgil would do all that for him, but also thought he needed to do work the next afternoon. “But I need to work in the-”
“No,” Virgil disagreed. “You don’t. You’ve done all you need to for today and most for tomorrow and the next. I checked. If you really want more time I can draw you the bath after lunch, but you seriously need to have a self care day.”
“But-”
“I am putting my foot down,” Virgil said, stomping on the floor for emphasis.
Roman stopped talking, looking at Virgil shyly for a few seconds. “What kind of self care, relaxing stuff?” Roman asked quietly.
“Whatever activities you prefer. This is for you,” Virgil said kindly. “But not work. None of that. If you want, we could do manicures, face masks, makeovers, whatever stuff you like.”
Roman couldn’t believe it. “And we’ll do it, together?”
“Oh, um,” Virgil looked a small bit frantic for a second, “only if you want me around. I don’t have to be; if you’d rather-”
“No,” Roman interrupted. “I’m just surprised you’re willing to go to all this effort for me. It just...doesn’t make sense. I’m supposed to work for us, not use up your precious time for my mental health. I don’t deserv-”
“You’re a prince, Roman,” Virgil said sincerely. “You deserve to be treated like the royalty that you are.”
Roman’s protests stopped and he was speechless. He never thought someone as wonderful as Virgil could care about him, especially considering their past. But somehow, Virgil did care. Roman could only relish it while it lasted.
“Where would you like to eat and watch TV?” Virgil asked. “We could go to the living room.”
“Can we stay here, at least for tonight?” Roman asked.
Virgil smiled and took Roman’s arms and led him to his bed. He snapped his fingers, a pizza box appearing on Roman’s nightstand. With a snap of his own fingers, Roman made a TV appear in front of his bed. He and Virgil got plates and sat on Roman’s bed. Roman put on a Disney movie and started eating his pizza.
“This movie’s alright, right?” Roman asked, wanting to make sure he wasn’t boring Virgil.
“What I think of it doesn’t matter,” Virgil said with a small smile, “but yes, it is alright.”
Eventually, the movie ended and they finished their pizza. Virgil made two pints of ice cream appear, one strawberry and another chocolate. Roman immediately took the strawberry.
“Someone hasn’t had ice cream in a while,” Virgil mused.
Roman gave him a playful glare. “Shut up.”
Virgil chuckled and put on Aladdin, knowing Roman loved that movie. Roman grinned when it came on and lied back in the pillows.
About halfway through the movie, a now very tired Roman reached out to Virgil’s arm. He got the anxious side to turn around.
“What is it?”
“Can we...” Roman started nervously.
“What?”
“...Cuddle?” he asked sheepishly.
Virgil laughed and leaned back, putting an arm around Roman. Roman snuggled into Virgil’s side.
By the end of the movie, Roman was fast asleep.

Sorry this was so late! School and lack of sleep are evil demons that inhibit my writing. Hope you liked it!

Chapter 17 | Chapter 18 | Chapter 19
Tumblr media
The following days were hectic as ever. They were spent at broadcasting stations for the nightly music shows, going to other short events in between rehearsals for the shows, and the boys squeezing in practice whenever they could. It was like we barely had time to breath.
The fan reception and general reaction to BTS so far wasn’t bad at all, but unsurprisingly their lack of popularity didn’t win them any awards on the music shows. We weren’t disappointed, we had fully expected that in all honesty. Winning the shows wasn’t our goal, but rather getting them more publicity was.
After about two weeks of moving almost nonstop, we finally got a day where we could all rest. Sejin and I worked a little extra on whatever else we needed to do during the times we weren’t as needed at the boys’ schedules, in order to make sure we would be able to take this day to relax with them.
By the time I woke up, it was already 11 am. I looked in disbelief at my phone, wondering how I managed to sleep in that late – even if I was completely exhausted when I went to sleep the night before. While I was eating breakfast, I got a notification from the group chat.
Hobi: Noona~ You’re stopping by today right?
Taetae: You can’t hide in your apartment all day just because you have the day off. 😋
Jimin: Yeah, noona! We haven’t gotten to properly hang out at all since we’ve been so busy 😟
Yoongi: Sorry for them, noona. You do what you want today, don’t mind them.
Kookie: Noooooo. Noona, please? Pretty please come over? 🥺
Jimin: Why isn’t she responding?
Hobi: Noona are you okay?
Jin: She’s probably still sleeping. She was just as exhausted as we were, you know.
Joonie: Yeah guys, stop it. You’re probably going to wake her up from all the messages.
Taetae: Well, you’re texting in the chat too, hyung 😋
Joonie: Only one time.
Jimin: Well now it’s twice.
Jin: Guys, come on. Just leave it be. She’ll reply when she can.
Me: You guys live together and are probably all sitting next to each other. Why on earth are you talking to each other via text?
Taetae: Noona! You’re awake! :D
Me: Yes, I am. You guys sent the messages so fast I couldn’t keep up, haha.
Jin: Did you sleep well, darling? 🤗
Me: Yes I did, sweetie. 😘 How about you guys?
Joonie: Not having an alarm to wake up to was amazing.
Jimin: Noona~ When are you coming over~?
Yoongi: You don’t need to come over, noona. Just relax today.
Me: Oh okay, I see how it is Min Yoongi. You don’t want to see me. I understand. 😔
Yoongi: What? No. That’s not what I meant.
Taetae: HYUNG HOW COULD YOU? YOU’RE SO MEAN! 😭
Kookie: Wow, hyung.
Jimin: Yoongi hyung, why would you hurt noona like that?😟
Yoongi: -_-
Me: Don’t worry, I’m coming over lol. I’ll be there in like half an hour, okay?
Hobi: Yay! See you soon noona! 💓
I chuckled to myself. They were all such dorks and I loved them for it.
I finished breakfast and dressed in something comfy but presentable before walking across the hall and knocking on their door.
Jungkook greeted me with his soft smile as I walked into their house. I sat down in the living room next to Yoongi and Kookie sat next to me.
Suga peeled his eyes off of his phone to glance at me. “Oh, you’re here?”
“Yes, I’m here. Although I’m sure you’re not happy to see me,” I teased.
Yoongi huffed and shook his head, turning his attention back to the device in his hand.
“It’s okay, noona. I want you here,” Jungkook said as he placed his head on my shoulder.
“Thank you Kook-ah, I appreciate that.” I chuckles and placed a hand on his head.
Taehyung walked out from their bedroom. Once he noticed I was there, he rushed over yelling, “Noona!” and forced himself in between me and Yoongi.
Yoongi groaned in annoyance as he moved over so his brother wasn’t sitting on him. “Yah, can’t you sit somewhere else?”
“What?” Tae asked. “It’s not like you wanted to see noona anyway.”
“Why do you guys keep putting words in my mouth?” Yoongi asked. “I never once said that.”
“Whatever,” Tae said as he hugged me from the side.
I returned the embrace as best I could without making Jungkook move. “Why are you guys so excited to see me anyway? We’ve literally been spending entire days together for the past two weeks.”
“Yeah, but we haven’t really been able to talk or just hang out,” Hoseok said as he entered the room, sitting across from us. “Any downtime we had was basically spent catching up on sleep.”
“That is true,” I said with a chuckle.
I wasn’t used to being social before I met BTS. I would spend most of my time on my own, relaxing and just enjoying the quiet. It was a huge change for me once I started to spend most of my time with them rather than by myself, and it took some getting used to. But I had to admit that by now, I was used to the company and spending too much time alone made me actually feel lonely more than anything now.
We sat in silence for a little while, just being content with each other’s company and relaxing. Despite how much energy the boys usually had, they couldn’t run at 100% all day every day so I had a feeling today was going to be calmer than usual. They were completely exhausted but I could see how happy they were as well, being able to start living their dream even if it may not be perfect. I thought about how lucky we were to be here right now, no longer concerned about if they’d be able to debut or not.
When I was called up to Mrs. Choi’s office that day, she was fully honest with me about what had happened. They originally canceled on us because there was another group from a different company that was more promising. They ended up prioritizing them over our boys, which was also why they weren’t budging on giving us a date again at first. But the other group’s company decided to postpone their debut, so the date opened back up. That had happened just a couple days before I sent her the dance video, and with the date being so close her boss decided we would be good enough to fill the spot after all.
Although of course I told Sejin about it later, I hadn’t mentioned that to the boys, worried that it would make them feel worse. They already knew how much of underdogs they were, and I didn’t want one more thing to rub that in their faces.
“Noona,” Jungkook broke me out of me thoughts.
“Yes, Jungkook?” I asked, turning towards him.
“Is it going to be this busy every comeback?” He lifted his head off of my shoulder.
“Hmm, I can’t say for sure,” I said. “But probably. I know it sucks, but you know how busy this industry is. There’s so many other groups, we have to do what we can to help get your guys’ name out there.”
“It’s not like we didn’t know what we were getting into,” Namjoon said. He had entered the room at some point while I was lost in my thoughts.
“I wish I could make it easier on you guys,” I said. “I don’t like making you so busy. I want you to be able to rest more.”
“Don’t worry about it, noona,” Tae chimed in next to me. “Like hyung said, we already knew what we were getting into. Besides, if we work hard now, then hopefully it’ll all pay off later.”
“Yeah,” Jungkook said. “I’d rather work as hard as I can now than regret not having tried my best later.”
I ruffled both boys’ hair. “You guys never cease to amaze me.”
“We love you too, noona,” Jimin suddenly said from behind me, making me jump.
“Don’t sneak up on me like that!” I said as the boys laughed at my reaction.
“You’re so easy to scare,” Hoseok said, laughing.
“Says the biggest scaredy cat out of all of us,” Jin retorted from the kitchen, earning more laughter from us.
-----
I decided I wanted to cook for everyone today, partially so Seokjin could get a break from being the main chef and relax. But also because I had been practicing my Korean cooking skills over the months and wanted the boys to tell me what they thought. There weren’t too many groceries in our fridges since there hadn’t been much home cooking happening recently, so I ventured out to the grocery store. Jungkook decided to come with me so he can help me carry the bags.
Of course Jungkook had had a mask covering his face to make sure he didn’t draw any attention, but I didn’t bother with one. Face masks were just constricting and hard to breathe through (and I felt so bad for celebrities who needed to wear them all the time), and no one knew me so there really wasn’t a point.
As I was browsing through the different types of noodles to find what I was looking for, Jungkook went to the snack aisle to stock up on their dwindling stash. I found what I needed and went to look for Kook so we could finish up with the shopping and get going back to the house. When I turned into the aisle he was in, I noticed he was rather oblivious to the stares of a few girls who were watching him very closely.
As I walked past them, I heard one of them whisper, “Yeah, I’m sure that’s him. It has to be Jeon Jungkook.”
Great. This is wonderful. I was worried for a moment, but they did seem to be keeping their distance so I pushed it aside, thinking that they seemed like they wouldn’t cause any trouble. All we needed to do was get home.
“Hey,” I said as I approached Kook but made sure not to address him by name, just to be safe. “Almost ready to get going?”
He turned to me, holding a huge armful of snacks to place in my basket. “Yup! I got all the hyungs’ favorites and this should last us a while.” He noticed the girls staring, quickly turning away once he saw them. “Do you think they know me?” he asked me quietly as we walked the opposite direction down the aisle.
“Yeah, I heard them saying they thought it was you as I walked past them,” I responded just as quietly.
“That’s crazy, I’m getting recognized at the store,” he said, partially excited but mostly nervous.
“Not to be rude, but I think it’s better to not intentionally approach them,” I said.
“I know. Don’t worry, I’ll be careful,” Jungkook assured me.
We made it through the checkout and divided the bags between us to carry back to the dorm. Without making it obvious, I paid attention and listened carefully to see if the girls were going to follow us out of the store.
Unfortunately, they did. We couldn’t go home if they were following us because then they’d find out where we lived and that was the last thing we needed. They stayed probably about 10 feet behind us, and I could hear them giggling. I would feel so much more at ease if they just approached us to ask if he’s Jungkook and maybe for an autograph and just walk away. But it didn’t seem like they were going to.
I grabbed my phone to text one of the other boys to let them know we were running late so they wouldn’t worry. But in the middle of typing the message, my phone died. I cursed at myself for forgetting to charge it earlier today.
“Jungkook, can you let someone know we’re on our way home but running a bit late?” I quietly asked him.
“Okay.” He reached into his pocket, but seemed confused when he didn’t find his phone there. He felt around his other pockets, but was unsuccessful in finding it. He took a moment to think before a look of realization lit his eyes. “I forgot my phone at the dorm.”
“Darn,” I said. “Well I guess we’ll just have some explaining to do when we get back.”
I started to feel more and more nervous as we walked, not necessarily heading towards the dorm but rather just in any direction to wait until they stopped following us. I decided we should cross the street, hoping that if they stayed back far enough we could lose them after the light turned. We jogged across the street when the light was close to changing to make it hard for them to be able to follow.
I subtly glanced back to make sure the attempt to lose them was successful, and luckily they were unable to cross with us. We kept moving quickly, making sure to make a few turns before they could fully catch up to us just in case they kept trying to follow. When I felt sure there was no way they could have kept following us, I finally relaxed.
“Think we lost them, noona?” Jungkook asked.
“I’d be shocked if they were able to keep up with us,” I said. “Come on, let’s actually get home now.”
On top of the time we already spent to throw them off, it took us another extra 15 minutes to get back home. I kept looking behind us to make sure they hadn’t managed to find us again, and luckily it seemed we had shaken them off.
When Jungkook used his key to open the door, we were immediately bombarded with a worried BTS.
“What took you guys so long?” Jin asked, almost yelling. “We were worried something happened to you!” Before I could react, he pulled me into a hug. He must have been really worried because he held me really tight as if he was scared to let me go.
“Are you guys okay?” Namjoon asked as he examined Jungkook, who nodded in response while taking his mask off. “We tried calling you, but noona’s phone went right to voicemail and Jungkook you left your phone here.”
“Sorry guys,” I said. “My phone died.” Jin loosened his grip on me.
“What happened?” Jimin asked. “Grocery shopping shouldn’t take that long.”
“Some girls recognized me,” Jungkook said. “They kept following us and we had to walk around to try to lose them before heading home.”
“Did you take your mask off?” Yoongi asked.
“No, he was careful,” I said. “I have no idea how they could tell so easily.”
“Well, we’re just glad you guys are okay,” Hoseok said as he helped me take the ingredients out of the bags. “Oohhh, you got a lot of stuff, noona. What are you making?”
“You’ll just have to wait and see,” I teased.
“Can I help?” Tae said, shuffling over to me in the kitchen.
“No!” Jin and I said in unison.
Taehyung was a little taken back at our reaction.
“No, Taehyung,” Seokjin said. “You are not going to be making the kitchen a mess, nor are you going to sabotage the first meal noona is cooking for us.”
“Sabotage?” Tae said with a pout.
I placed a hand on his shoulder. “Taetae, there are many wonderful things about you. But cooking is not one of your strong points.” He frowned, but nodded in agreement. “Just leave it to me,” I said with a smile.
Everyone left me to my own devices while I worked on our meal, except Jin who occasionally came to see what I was doing. But he didn’t ask to help, knowing I was adamant about doing this on my own for them. While I stood at the stove waiting for the last bit of the food to finish cooking, he came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and leaning down to rest his chin on my shoulder.
“You know, we were all super worried about you guys,” he said.
“I’m sorry, Jinnie,” I apologized sincerely. “I tried to let you know but that’s when my phone died.”
“It’s okay,” he said. “Just don’t do that again. You’re lucky it was just a few fangirls and not someone who wanted to hurt you.”
“It was irresponsible of me to not have my phone charged,” I said. “I’ll be much more careful from now on, I promise.”
“Good,” he said as he let go of me and placed a kiss on top of my head. “Looks like the food’s done. Can I help plate it?”
“Yeah, of course,” I smiled at him.
I watched everyone as they took their first bites of the meal I made for them, anxious of what they’d think.
I saw Jin’s eyes grow big after chewing a piece of meat. “Wow, this is really good, (Y/n)!” he said. “The seasoning is just right!”
“Oh my gosh,” Jimin exclaimed after finishing his bite. “Noona, you really should cook for us more often.”
“I agree!” Taehyung said. “This is up to par with Jin hyung’s cooking.”
“Well, he was my teacher for the most part,” I said while rubbing the back of my neck, shy from the compliments. Everyone seemed to agree that they enjoyed my cooking, which made me really happy. I was nervous with it being a style of food they grew up with but I was new to. “Thanks, guys. I’m glad you like it.” I smiled, watching them enjoy it.
“Noona, aren’t you hungry too?” Jungkook asked. “You haven’t eaten anything yet.”
“Oh yeah.” I was too busy watching everyone else I forgot about eating. I started to dig in, pleasantly surprised with myself for how much I liked the food as well.
By the time everyone was full, there wasn’t a single piece of food left. I didn’t know why I was surprised because despite having cooked a lot of food, there were seven of them and they also tended to have bigger appetites.
We all worked together to get everything cleaned up to make quick work of it.
“Thanks for the meal, noona. It was amazing,” Joon said.
“I’m glad you guys liked it,” I said. I looked at my (now charged) phone and saw that it was getting pretty late. “I’d better get going back home. We don’t want to stay up too late, we all have to get back to work tomorrow.”
As I got ready to leave, Jungkook came up to me, looking nervous.
“Is everything okay, Kook?” I asked. He nodded and then slowly wrapped his arms around me in a hug. “What’s this for?” I asked.
“Thank you for being smart about the situation earlier,” he said. “I would have just thought to go straight home, but that would have been bad.”
“Of course,” I said as I stroked his hair. “It’s my job to be responsible for you guys. That’s what I’m here for.”
He let go of me and smiled. “Good night noona.”
“Good night, Kookie,” I said, ruffling his hair. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Maria watches friday night lights (#36)
5x13, the series finale i have heard nothing but good things about - I made it y’all! *wipes tear* this is a show i will definitely rewatch! It definitely feels like the kind of show that’s so layered that every time you go back you’ll pick up something new. I love shows like that.
i haven’t been on tumblr on my computer in a long time but im gonna go through and add “read more”s to all of these recaps!
(thanks to anyone who read these nonsense recaps! if you enjoyed these...in addition to my currently-on-hiatus riverdale podcast @bodysuitsforbughead, I have another teen drama-centered podcast in the works, follow @LeftyTeenDrama on Twitter and @leftistteendrama on Instagram to get updates when it launches! I’m taking a break on working on it till i move but it’s gonna be a big part of my 2021 projects. I’ve already recorded one episode with two of my favorite people in the world and it’s gonna be amazing. It will be about a variety of teen dramas, but FNL will definitely be included.)
and without further ado, my final FNL ramblings under the cut:
And we open with one last montage of shots around Dillon from a car, with a “Christmas in Texas” song playing. Amazing.
Oh wow, I love the “FIVE DAYS TILL THE CHAMPIONSHIP” vibe. The build-up is already here. A shot of Julie in the stands watching practice!
It’s super uncomfortable that people are talking to Vince about his “future teammates” on the Panthers before the post-season is even over.  “I don’t really wanan talk about that. I want to talk about how the East Dillon Lions are gonna win State.” “Is that a promise?” These Texas sports journalists are WILD. this is a teenage boy whose school’s funding just got cut right before the biggest game of his life! Can we have some sympathy?!
“I hear they’re taking the cream of the crop for the Superteam so I’m gonna be honest with you, what are you gonna do?” EXCUSE ME SIR? I repeat, TEENAGE BOY. Tinker’s response of “you’re an asshole” and storming away was more than appropriate!!!
“No comment”ing his way out of there like a champ.
Ah, the age-old tradition of decorating a Christmas tree while arguing about a five-year football coach contract in Dillon or a dean of admissions job offer at a prestigious Philadelphia college. Julie’s just sitting there with Gracie like ooooh boy
“Here is where we put our tree, not Philadelphia! It’s a Texas tree.” OMG STOP IT. Lol Julie putting her hands over her ears.
YAY MATT SARACEN IS AT THE DOOOOORRRRR im so excited
Wow I did not expect this proposal to come that quickly into the episode! Like i knew it was coming in this episode but aw. They’re so soft! Just like, oh i’ve been thinking about you nonstop since our perfect Chicago tryst and oh look here’s grandma’s ring let me casually get down on one knee in the town where we fell in love. And after she was just talking about how much she misses Matt to Tyra the episode before? That “yes” she gave feels so certain because of it. Aw.
The grandma’s ring really fucks me up because you know how close Julie and Grandma Saracen have gotten over the years. My heart!
“Oh my God, your dad must’ve flipped.” “...What do you mean?” OH NO Eric Taylor is totally the type to care. “...When you asked him to marry me.” Oh I knew this proposal was too early in the episode, im dying!
“You need to go man to man.” Ugh Julie i liked Matt’s plan of just going and telling them much better. His look of fear when he repeats “man to man.” dead.
Wow no theme song??? That’s how you know it’s gonna be a long series finale!
Andddd here we are, a bickering Riggins “I may or may not be going to Alaska.” “Is it because you raw dogged Tyra last night?” i literally gasped.
LMAO Mindy trying to say Tim and Tyra are incest now that Mindy and Billy are married and then Tim and Billy immediately being like “nope, no blood lines, that’s not how incest works.” Someone should send that memo to all those anti bughead stans about bughead and falice
“What do you think about me taking Stevie for the day?” “I’m fine with that. There’s no going back, I’m going to get the bag.” LOL Mindy spoken like a true parent also YES to Tim and Stevie spending time together.
Poor Jess not realizing that asking Eric if she can follow him to the Panthers is a much bigger question than she thinks se’s asking.
AWW Tim and Stevie at Grandma Collette’s. How cute.
“Seven’s back in town?” “Yeah, he and Julie got engaged!”
Tim/Tyra and Matt/Julie double date?? Aw I love that Tyra knows that Matt and Julie got engaged. I really love Tyra and Julie’s friendship.
I’m laughing really hard at Matt’s speech to Eric trying to ask permission. This is so funny.
Eric’s like, “is this kid serious rn?”
Not to be that northern bitch but don’t kids get married at 18/19 all the fucking time in Texas?? I feel like it’s more common in even more rural parts of like...any state.
“The answer to your question is gonna be no today, it’s gonna be no tomorrow, and it’s gonna be no until the sun burns out.” LMAO wow i didn’t see this coming
“This was really just a courtesy, we were hoping for your blessing.” YES MATT.
OH BOY Eric did not just try to speak FOR his daughter, im not about it. “My daughter’s answer to you is ‘no.’” That’s some patriarchal shit right there.
“We’ll never know if we’re East Coast people if we don’t try it!” “We have a MUCH BIGGER problem.” Dude, it’s Matt Saracen, the softest boy who has loved your daughter for years, i actually think the fundamental decision of where you and Tami continue your future might be slightly more pressing.
“I don’t know why you’re yelling at me! I think we agree on this!” IM SCREAMINGGGG
Aw, Tami getting teary-eyed at Grandma Saracen’s ring. “It’s just, y’all are so young.” I know but this is a TV show universe so we let teen marriage slide for the right couples, ok.
Tami and Eric wanna take Matt and Julie to A CONVERSATION DINNER??? This is gonna be so funny.
Aw, Vince got his dad a ticket to state? “I want you to be there.” if this fucker doesn’t just come and shut his mouth
Oh wow Becky’s mom is finally coming back? And yay Becky’s finally over her Tim crush. “So friends?” “I say family.” AWWW MY HEART.
“You guys were our age when you got married.” ARE YOU SERIOUS? “It was a different time.” Y’all have no leg to stand on here.
“Marriage requires maturity.” Says the man who won’t let his wife take a huge job offer. What, who said that? (Okay the way Tami’s watching Eric give this speech about compromise, thinking she’s thinking the same thing.)
“You guys got married when you were my age, and how many times did you move? How many different things you’ve gone through and look how you’ve made it work. You guys are my inspiration.” AW. I wish my parents had a stable enough marriage to be able to say that LOL but nope.
OH NO poor Tami getting up from the table because she’s emotional! Because she’s clearly always thought of her marriage that way too but maybe not lately AH
Eric, babe, that’s your cue to follow.
Oh shit, Jess’s family is moving to Dallas? Well, damn.
Eric saw Vince not take a ticket for his dad and came to his watering hole to hand deliver it? “Young man gets a chance like that maybe once in a lifetime.” and mic drop, walk away.
Luke casuaklly meeting Becky’s mom for the first time while coming by to try to win Becky back. “I love you. I’m so sorry.” AWWW. growth!
YES cheers to Matt and Julie! “Here’s to Mr. and Mrs. Saracen.”
“Always thought you’d be the first person to say that.” AW
Yes halfway through college, go Tyra!
Awwww, Matt being like “let’s dance” and pulling Julie up. So cute. Yes, Tim asking Tyra to dance.
“I got plans.” “I don’t.” OMG is Tim saying he’ll just follow Tyra? Damn.
Why tf is Buddy calling Eric first thing in the morning to tell him about Buddy Jr.’s cast and “staying here el permanente” and GETTING HIM TO SIGN A CONTRACT BEFORE THE GAME? Y’all are shady as fuck!
I love that seeing the Braemore papers made him stop, tell Buddy off, and not make a decision in that moment. What’s gonna happen???
“I won’t be a part of your Superteam after all.” Hopefully Eric won’t be either! Aw Jess thanking him “for the greatest experience of his life.” “I think it’s been mine too.” AW.
Eric’s gonna give a coach in Dallas a good word for Jess? So beautiful. Yesss!
AW Julie and Matt decorating the Saracen Christmas tree, and Grandma trying to get Julie to wear her old wedding dress!
Emotional at this hug between Julie and Mrs. Saracen. “I love you.” “I love you too.”
Awww Vince finally being glad that Jess is part of the team...at the moment when it’s about to end.
Yess Tyra and Tim picnicking on the land?
And YES to Tyra going into politics, I could see it! “Along the lines of Mrs. T. Except bigger.” YES GURL.
“I’ve been in love with you since I was five years old.” AWWW that is so precious.
“I’m gonna build a house exactly where we’re sitting. I’m gonna get a job. And I’m never gonna do anything illegal for the rest of my life.” Oh, Tim. my heart!!!
“Maybe one day, our dreams can merge together.” THAT’S SO BEAUTIFUL. What more does one really want? Oh, these beautiful life-filled shots of them drinking beer on the land where Tim wants to build a house. Art!
Oh shit, Eric’s racing to get to Santa in time to be there with Tami and Gracie?! “You scared me half to death. What’s going on?”
“I turned the contract down. It’s your turn. I want to go to Philadelphia. Will you take me to Philadelphia with you, please?” YESSSSSSSSSSSSS what they deserve! What Tami deserves!!!! My heart!!!!
Ugh, the imagery as they get to State is amazing. The boys taking in the field, the players suited up praying and getting in the zone beforehand. The screaming in the stands waiting for them.
“You may never know how proud I am of you.” “You changed my life, coach.” AW.
Eric’s pre-game prayer overlaying the image of the Lions bursting out onto the field! Yes yes yes!
The way they slowed everything down with just music, and focused in on the faces of so many characters - Vince’s dad showing up, Eric and Tami saluting one another from stand to sideline, Becky cheering in the stands excitedly for Luke, Matt and Julie holding each other, Buddy on the sidelines screaming, Vince’s mom jumping up and down - just absolute perfection.
And we’re back in, with actual in-scene sound at 26-21 with 3 seconds left on the clock??? Jesus!
AH and every single character watching the football fly in the air, WOW the DRAMA.
Holy shit, they fast-forwarded to one of Eric’s players in Philly catching a football eight months later in Philly??? THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD. WOW.
Tami looks like such a badass strutting around campus!
YES Tinker is on the Panthers! Take that, bullying reporter!
Aw, the East Dillon Lions sign coming down. :( feels.
Nooo Luke don’t go to the military! Noooo I hate that. Poor Becky. They’re the exact type of couple who gets caught up in that really sad cycle - too poor to really have many other options, so the whole “free college when i get out!” thing starts to look really attractive. smh.
But i love how they used the championship ring he gave Becky as a way to signal that the East Dillon Lions did, indeed, win the state championship eight months earlier...and that Jess is wearing the ring on the sidelines of a new field where she’s working with the coaches! amazing!
Yay Matt and Julie live in Matt’s beautiful Chicago apartment? Perfection. They really look so good in that city together.
New beginnings in a new city together for both Tami and Eric AND Matt and Julie? I’m living! It’s what they deserve!
Tim and Billy building Tim’s house and drinking beers! “Texas forever.” “Texas forever.” MY HEART.
“Clear eyes, full hearts.” SILENCE. “Ah, we’ll deal with that later.” LOL
Yesss Tami coming out to meet Eric on the field!!!
“Ready to go home?” “Yeah, let’s go.”
And the lights go off on the field. End show. AMAZING. Truly, an epic series finale! An epic show! I will definitely rewatch and i am so glad i finally did! Thanks to anyone who gave a shit about my ramblings.

FROM 2019
Matt Chorley: behind the scenes at 10 Downing Street
Times political expert Matt Chorley speaks with former prime ministers, senior civil servants and spin doctors to find out what the new inhabitant of No 10 can expect in his first 48 hours in office (whoever he may be)
Not many people get to do it. In the past half-century, more people have walked on the Moon than across the threshold of No 10 as a new prime minister.
When the new prime minister stands on those famous steps next Wednesday afternoon he will find it a daunting prospect. They always do. Sir John Major felt it had come too soon. When he was confirmed as the new PM in 1990, his wife, Norma, turned to a friend and asked, “Is it going to be all right?”
Britain’s political system does not allow for a slow and careful transition between administrations, as in America. Some, like Gordon Brown, have years to prepare. Others, like Theresa May, a matter of days. This time, the new prime minister will be named on Tuesday and he will take office the next day, stepping on to a nonstop treadmill charging at 100mph.
“You’re never ready,” says Tony Blair. “The one thing you realise the moment you come into government is that campaigning to be the government is completely different from governing as the government.” Was he frightened? “Yeah, I was … ‘Frightened’ is perhaps not the right word, but I was somewhat overawed, yeah.”
Recalling that night in May 1997 as he willed the Tories to win more seats, fearing a New Labour landslide might spark some kind of constitutional crisis, he adds, “I think I was one of the very few sober people around that night and I was very sober and very, very conscious of the responsibility.”
For David Cameron, there was the psychodrama of five days of coalition talks, before it became clear that he would indeed be PM. Sitting in the leader of the opposition’s office in the Houses of Parliament, he called his wife: “Sam, love, you’d better get your frock ready. We’re going to see the Queen.”
And that is the first thing that happens even before you get to Downing Street: a trip to Buckingham Palace.
The Queen After PMQs on Wednesday, May will formally resign as PM, recommending to the Queen whom to summon as her successor. May will arrive at the palace in her prime ministerial limousine, but be driven away in a private car. The trappings of power fall away quickly.
The audience with the Queen can be a daunting moment, not least because she will remind the new PM that he is the 14th of her reign. Winston Churchill was her first.
Blair was waiting in a Buckingham Palace anteroom for his first audience with the Queen when an official approached to explain, “You don’t actually kiss the Queen’s hands in the ceremony of kissing hands. You brush them gently with your lips,” as he recalls in his memoir. This left the PM-in-waiting baffled, wondering if this meant brushing like a pair of shoes or the very lightest of touches.
Before he had time to work it out, he was ushered in, tripping on a piece of carpet and almost falling directly upon the Queen’s hands – “not so much brushing them as enveloping them”.
Margaret Thatcher insisted her audiences with the Queen were “quietly businesslike”, although she said stories about tensions between the two women were simply “too good not to make up”.
Cameron had a habit of blurting out details of his conversations with the Queen – famously that she “purred” down the phone to him after Scotland voted no to independence.
The speech From the palace it is a short mile and a half car journey down the Mall and Whitehall to Downing Street to address the nation. This speech matters.
“The new PM must first write notes only to be opened in the event of an apocalypse
It has grown in significance. For Thatcher quoting St Francis of Assisi (“Where there is discord, may we bring harmony”), it was a few snatched words to a huddle of cameras. These days it is a big lectern moment. As with May’s “burning injustices”, those first words on the steps of No 10 can set the tone for a premiership, and come back to haunt you.
With the world’s media gathered opposite No 10 and news helicopters hovering overhead, the narrow street creates a cauldron of noise.
It was easier for Blair – Labour apparatchiks had packed the street with Union Jack-waving party supporters. A decade later Brown took no chances. On the morning he became prime minister he went into a room in the Treasury with his gatekeeper Sue Nye and spin doctor Damian McBride to practise delivering his speech without notes – “I will try my utmost” – while his two aides played the role of protesters.
“Boo!” shouted Nye. “You’re a bad man!”
McBride got more into it: “Why did you sell the gold, Gordon? You ruined my pension! You’ve got blood on your hands!” At this last insult Brown stopped mid-speech and demanded to know, “Why is there blood on my hands?”
Some are more memorable than others – Cameron declaring, “This is going to be hard and difficult work,” had the hallmarks of a speech written in haste. It was also delivered in the dark, thanks to the Dark Lord of spin, Peter Mandelson. He advised Brown to leave in the early evening, still in daylight, knowing that by the time Cameron reached Downing Street the gloom would have descended.
The door Having delivered the speech in a blaze of flashbulbs, the new prime minister will turn and walk towards perhaps the most famous door in the world. This is the moment he will have fantasised about.
Waiting behind the door will be Sir Mark Sedwill, the cabinet secretary, at least for now. There has been speculation he could face the chop, although the new PM might soon realise they have bigger things to worry about.
The cabinet secretary, the most senior civil servant in the country, welcomes the new prime minister and their spouse (if they have one) before the couple walk towards the cabinet room, down the corridor lined with Downing Street staff who just an hour earlier will have waved off Team May. Lord O’Donnell, former cabinet secretary under Blair, Brown and Cameron, says, “You’ve got a very frenetic hour when you’re rearranging the furniture. You’re trying to work out precisely what our new prime minister might want. It’s horrible. It’s … barbaric, actually, is the word I would use.”
The changeover is brutal in its speed and efficiency. On the night in 2010 when Brown left Downing Street he was barely out the door when Jeremy Heywood, the No 10 permanent secretary, told staff to “snap out of it. We have a job to do.” And so they dried their eyes and prepared for Cameron’s arrival.
“It’s a bit mawkish really,” says Baroness Bertin, who entered No 10 as Cameron’s press secretary. “You can still, you know, smell them. They’ve only just left. The pizza boxes were still in the bin. We all trooped into Gordon Brown’s office and the table had scratch marks and indentation marks where we imagined mobile phones had been smashed into it.”
The civil servants will line up, clap and smile and make their new boss feel welcome. This tradition is born not out of servitude to new masters but a more practical purpose: in the pre-television age, it was a chance for Downing Street staff to see the new PM and their team up close so they could recognise them about the place.
“It’s very noisy,” recalls Katie Perrior, who entered No 10 in 2016 as May’s director of communications. “There’s lots of back-patting and people are realising, ‘We’re here now.’ ”
Anji Hunter, Blair’s adviser, says this moment illustrates the professionalism of the civil service. “They don’t display their political affiliations. That same group of people had been there an hour before we were there, weeping as Major left with Norma. They had clapped out John Major and they clapped us in, beaming, literally beaming and delightful.”
Blair arrived deeply suspicious of the civil service, believing they were beholden to the long-running outgoing Conservative administration. The same was true of Cameron when he moved in after 13 years of New Labour. “Actually, within almost hours that’s completely gone,” says O’Donnell.
While the clapping and smiling have been going on, the cabinet secretary has run round the back corridor to be waiting for the PM outside the cabinet room.
The cabinet room Stepping into the famous cabinet room can be an emotional moment. Blair said he pictured “a thousand images fluttering through my mind” of Disraeli and Gladstone and Asquith, Lloyd George and Churchill and every other great statesman who had held court and power in this room.
David Cameron, alongside wife Samantha, is ushered into the cabinet room for the first time by cabinet secretary Gus O’Donnell, May 11, 2010ANDREW PARSONS/I-IMAGES
A photographer captured the moment Cameron had his head in his hands as he entered the room, as the enormity of it all dawned on him. O’Donnell was to his left, while to his right was his wife, Samantha, pregnant with their daughter, Florence, who was allowed to enjoy the private moment of history before being whisked off.
By tradition all the chairs around the cabinet table are neatly pushed in; the prime minister’s seat is at an angle. It is also the only chair with arms.
The PM sits. Waiting on the vast coffin-shaped table is bottled water, still and sparkling, and a small dish of mints. It is going to be an intense first meeting. After all the euphoria, the applause and the smiles, it quickly gets serious. Really serious.
The letters One of the first jobs is to write letters to the UK’s Trident submarine commanders giving targeting instructions only to be opened in the event of a nuclear attack where communications with London have broken down.
“Cameron held an ‘Ibiza-style rave’ at Chequers for his wife’s birthday
The chief of the defence staff, General Sir Nicholas Carter, is likely to be on hand to offer advice. However, nobody knows what the PM puts in the letters, which are sealed and taken to the Clyde naval base in Scotland where the submarines are based, with whichever boat is at sea having its letter on board.
The PM must also name a dozen ministers and advisers who would be given a space in the underground nuclear bunker, alongside their families, in the event of Armageddon.
Joining them around the cabinet table might be the heads of the security services. There will be a fast update on the most pressing issues of national security: live counterterror operations, imminent threats and urgent decisions delayed by their predecessor.
“This isn’t exactly an easy first couple of meetings,” says O’Donnell.
“It’s incredibly scary,” agrees Lord Wood of Anfield, a foreign policy adviser to Brown. “It’s a particular kind of torture to make the first act of a prime minister, literally within 30 seconds, this extraordinarily dramatic act of handwritten notes only to be opened in the event of an apocalypse.”
That moment encapsulates the feeling of loneliness that so many prime ministers have spoken of. There is no one to share it with, nowhere to turn. The buck stops with you and you alone.
The team While things are calm but serious in the cabinet room, outside all hell could be breaking loose as the PM’s political team get to meet their new colleagues, tour their new office and try to grab the best desks.
In 2007, while Brown was at the palace his team had a 2pm appointment at the “link door”, a Star Trek-like glass capsule door that connects the cabinet office with the rear of No 10.
“You walk into the pod,” recalls Wood. “It shuts behind you and then hopefully opens in front of you. There was a line of women on the other side who were the PAs, the Garden Room girls and assistants. And we were kind of matched one a piece, a bit like Strictly.
“And the thing I remember is that they all looked very red-eyed. And I only realised three years later when I left, they were crying because they’d just said goodbye to the Blair team. Within half an hour they were hoovering the floor and then lining up waiting for their new team.”
Once through, the political team will rush through the corridors of No 10 to be there to greet the new PM as he walks through the door.
Some teams are better prepared than others. Jonathan Powell, Blair’s chief of staff, held talks with the civil service and even trained frontbenchers in how to be a minister. “I remember Tony not wanting to know anything about that,” Hunter recalls. “Superstitious is the word.”
Keen to make a first impression in 2016, Perrior made a speech to civil service press officers about the importance of loyalty. “Don’t screw me over and I’ve got your back.”
For aides and advisers, the first days will also mean detailed security checks, especially for those covering foreign affairs, defence and national security.
Wood says, “My understanding is that the inquiries have evolved from questions about sexual and other matters to questions about money. I think they care much more now about financial exposure than private life exposure.”
The incoming team will also be warned against using their personal email addresses for government business, and to be wary when travelling abroad, to assume that foreign governments are listening in.
Sue Nye gave Brown’s team some extra advice: always carry your paperwork in a folder (to avoid official documents being snapped by photographers waiting in Downing Street). And never run.
“I was with the prime minister quite a lot, travelling around the world,” says Wood. “If you’re caught on camera running, it looks like something’s gone wrong.”
The house It is a strange quirk of British politics that the entire country is run from three terraced houses knocked together to form the office, state rooms and home of the prime minister.
O’Donnell calls it a “Tardis”. Wood says it is like a “slightly run-down Georgian country hotel”. Bertin remembers “being so overwhelmed really by No 10, the actual presence, actually being in that building, the smell of it. It just was like a sensory overload.”
If changing jobs is hard enough, becoming prime minister also comes with one of life’s most stressful experiences: moving house. The flat over No 11 Downing Street is slightly bigger and has in recent years been taken by the prime minister. At the end of a long day they can head to one of the small lifts that takes them to the top floor. Although in time prime ministers often make a habit of taking the stairs, the only form of exercise they get during an office-bound day running the country.
“Brown struggled to relax at No 10. ‘He didn’t enjoy living above the shop’
New PMs routinely try to suggest they might like to stay in their own home, before security becomes too much. Security arrangements for children and wider family will also have to be agreed. O’Donnell jokes, “We all know from Bodyguard what that can lead to.”
For new prime ministers not used to the increased security, this can come as a shock. On his first day in office, Major went to walk from No 10 to the House of Commons for lunch, but was stopped by police who made it clear this would be impossible for as long as he was PM.
For PMs with young children, working below the flat could be a blessing, allowing them to slope off for an hour. The Cameron children would often be seen playing in their pyjamas as dignitaries visited.
Brown, by contrast, struggled to relax. Wood says, “He didn’t enjoy living above the shop.” Home remained in Scotland, while the Downing Street flat “felt a little bit like a place you were staying in for a long weekend with a few Sainsbury’s bags full of milk”.
Discussions will also have to be had about the position of the new PM’s wife or girlfriend, whether they plan to play a visible role, and whether their own job or interests present a potential political conflict that could derail a premiership in its infancy.
There will be questions of changing artworks, even redecorating, but they can come later.
The new PM has not just one new home, but two. There is also the grace-and-favour country retreat at Chequers, where they are likely to head to for their first weekend.
May used to enjoy using the pool. Thatcher was so concerned with the electricity bills she had the pool’s heating switched off. Blair added a tennis court and invited celebrity friends to stay. Cameron held an “Ibiza-style rave” for his wife’s birthday.
When Major became prime minister he inherited a Chequers reception from Thatcher, but had no guests. So he asked O’Donnell, the PM’s press secretary at the time, who to invite. He replied instantly, “Well, Bobby Charlton ...”
“We just reeled out these people that we’d all love to meet,” says O’Donnell. “We had Jenny Agutter and a whole bunch of cricketers.”
The reshuffle Before unwinding in the Buckinghamshire countryside, there is the small matter of putting together a government.
If the updates on the state of the nation’s security are sensitive, the details of the reshuffle require perhaps even higher levels of secrecy. A small office just off the cabinet room is used for reshuffles, which means the door can be locked so ministerial posts are not spotted by prying eyes. “You need to make sure that you can’t have someone going in moving the names around,” says O’Donnell.
In comes a whiteboard to write people’s names on with magnets. In 2010, as the coalition government was being put together, disaster struck. “For some reason the magnetic thing stopped and all the names dropped off,” Bertin recalls. “I’m sure some people got different jobs as a result.”
The number of ministerial jobs is limited by law to 90 MPs, and a total of 109 paid posts including 22 paid cabinet positions. Downing Street staff are tasked with finding out where key people are in preparation for them to be called in for a job – without letting on why.
Both May and Major were propelled into No 10 with such haste they had given little thought to their top team. Brown, by contrast, had been planning it for months, perhaps years, right down to every junior minister and aide. “As with all these things, it goes well until it doesn’t, and then like dominoes you’ve got to rebuild the whole thing,” recalls Wood.
Margaret Beckett was let go as foreign secretary, making way for David Miliband. “It went down like a ton of shit,” says one of Wood’s former colleagues. “She has never forgiven Gordon.”
“Of the many gifts she received, May chose to keep only hosiery from a firm called Luxury Legs
In addition to the rather quaint idea of choosing the right person for each job, other considerations are also taken into account: in the New Labour years it meant balancing Blairites and Brownites; the coalition had to have the right number of Tories and Lib Dems; since 2016, balancing Remainers and Leavers has been seen as critical.
It is likely that only the very top jobs – chancellor, foreign secretary and home secretary – will be announced on Wednesday night. The rest of the cabinet will be rolled out on Thursday, with more junior jobs to follow.
Where the coalition had got into the habit of announcing reshuffles on Twitter, Team May thought this too Cameroon and opted for formal press releases with the Downing Street crest on.
Would-be ministers are brought into Downing Street through the front door or via the cabinet office and left in a small waiting room just off the main entrance to No 10.
“You know what I’ve got, don’t you?” a nervous Boris Johnson asked Perrior on the evening of July 13, 2016. “Yes,” she replied. “But it’s not for me to tell you. It’s for the prime minister. So you just have to wait a little bit longer.” He was then summoned to the cabinet room to be offered the job of foreign secretary, before returning to a makeshift photographer’s studio in a side office where portraits would be taken to mark the occasion.
A slick operation. But not perfect. At one point George Osborne, still resident in No 11, walked past just as someone was shouting, “Can you just repeat that? Philip Hammond is the new chancellor?” Osborne winked and carried on. Perrior explains, “George Osborne got fired via someone shouting in a corridor a little bit loudly.”
The switchboard For new arrivals into Downing Street, “Switch” is about to change their lives. The Downing Street switchboard is staffed around the clock by a team of crack operatives able to get anyone on the phone anywhere at a moment’s notice.
Technology has obviously changed its role. Major and Blair didn’t have a mobile phone. Brown was less of a stickler for process, and would text and email at all hours. These days a prime minister could bypass Switch by whatsapping their ministers, advisers or other world leaders. They could also bypass their press teams by firing off tweets, creating the havoc that Donald Trump seems to thrive on in the White House.
“If Donald Trump were prime minister,” says O’Donnell, “I would have kittens, because that’s just not the way our system works.”
The first job for Switch will be to co-ordinate the congratulatory phone calls. Traditionally, the president of the United States is the first wellwisher to get through.
George W Bush was the first to call Brown. Three years later the White House was on the line again. “I’m speaking to you now from No 10 for the first time,” Cameron told Obama, with a wink to his team.
Expect President Trump to be first on the line next week, too. Or perhaps he will just tweet. Might an early call from Germany’s Angela Merkel or Ireland’s Leo Varadkar help to oil the wheels of a new Brexit deal? Also listening in to those calls will be the chief of staff, special advisers, foreign policy experts and press aides charged with briefing out (some of) what is said.
There will also be hundreds, if not thousands, of calls from friends and family. O’Donnell says, “These may be the extended family that the prime minister’s forgotten all about. They may feel that now their third cousin twice removed has become prime minister, they really need to congratulate them.”
The gifts For some, phoning is not enough. Gifts, many terribly expensive, are dispatched. Anything worth more than £140 is seized by the cabinet office, and if the PM wants to keep it they have to pay for it. In July 2017 May was sent shoes, clothes and make-up. She chose to keep only hosiery from a firm called Luxury Legs.
And then the flowers. Thatcher joked in her memoirs that so many bouquets were sent to No 10 during her final days that “you could hardly move down the corridors for a floral display that rivalled the Chelsea Flower Show”. And they all had to go before the new PM arrived, with even more blooms.
Perrior says, “The place looks like someone’s died. I feel for anybody who has hayfever.”
The office Blair found Downing Street so cramped he considered moving the office of the prime minister to the QEII conference centre. Cameron toyed with moving upstairs to one of the grand state rooms looking out over Horse Guards Parade, where Thatcher had worked, before discovering there were no phone or IT connections. Instead, he chose the room used by Blair, then known as the “den”.
Bertin was not impressed. “It was a bit of a mess, if I’m honest. It was tiny. There were sort of, you know, stains on the carpet.”
When May, who inherited Cameron’s office, visited Perrior in her oak-panelled corner room overlooking the garden, she remarked how nice it was. “I said something along the lines of, ‘Keep your hands off … You are not taking this office.’ ”
In most workplaces having your own office would be a sign of status, but in Downing Street it can leave you cut off from the action.
Chiefs of staff position themselves right outside the prime minister’s office, deciding who gets in and who doesn’t. Everyone insists that the prime minister wants them to be in the room, closest to them, at all times.
“May’s thank-you party for staff came many weeks later, highlighting early on the lack of people skills that would bring her low
“You felt sometimes that you should hover,” says Wood. “Hopefully you caught someone’s eye and then they’d say, ‘Oh, you’d better come in.’ Proximity was everything.”
Under May there was to be no hovering. A sofa outside the PM’s office, used by hoverers, was removed. “It was made clear that you do not linger in this office,” Perrior recalls. “You are only to come when you are invited.”
In the early days of the May regime a small side office was commandeered by her chiefs of staff, Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy.
It became known as the “bollocking room”. “You knew that if you were asked to go in there … it was not going to be necessarily pleasant,” says Perrior.
Cameron had formality forced upon him: the coalition meant Nick Clegg (and his Lib Dem team) were squatters in No 10. Decisions had to be taken formally by both parties, not by a select clique. Conservative spin doctors and policy advisers were told to share offices with their Lib Dem opposite numbers. “I can remember being pissed off about that,” says Bertin, although she now admits it was the right way to ensure the coalition worked.
The night On Wednesday night civil servants will be encouraging the new PM to go to bed early, knowing what onslaught awaits the next day.
In 2007, at around 9pm, Brown went back to his flat – handily for the former chancellor, just upstairs – where his wife, Sarah, cooked dinner and close friends celebrated with champagne.
Next week, the new PM will likely head to their own home, because the Mays will not have moved out. But that does not mean time to switch off. They will have their red boxes of papers to work through, covering everything from a draft speech to a natural disaster or a parliamentary crisis. There is also the black box, known as “Old Stripey” due to its red stripe, that contains the most sensitive material, which even as foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt or Boris Johnson might not have seen.
Before heading off, it is probably wise to gather people for a pep talk, bringing together political advisers and civil servants to begin to cement them into a team. In 2007, Brown told the assembled workers in the Pillared Room, “It’s not every day you meet the Queen at 1.30pm, become the prime minister at 2.45pm, speak to the president of the United States at 4pm and get told by Sarah to put the kids to bed at 7pm.” Cameron made a speech joking about how he and Nick Clegg would get on better than Blair and Brown, which went down badly with those who’d spent years working for the Labour PMs.
May’s thank-you party for staff came many weeks later, highlighting early on the lack of people skills that in the end would bring her low.
The next day All prime ministers have a habit of starting early, and for May’s replacement time will be of the essence. On Thursday teams will be assembled early, at around 6am. The reshuffle will have to be completed, and the new prime minister is expected to make an appearance in the Commons before parliament rises for its six-week summer recess.
The diary will already be filling up. And it will be nonstop and baffling and relentless. Wood explains, “At 7am, you’re meeting with the Scottish Bagpipe Association, who’ve got a problem with tax treatment, and then at 8.15am you’ve got a phone call with the Armenian president ’cause there’s a problem on the border, and then at 9am you’ve got a policy meeting about long-term health policy. And you’ve got to fight against this tendency always to put aside the long-term stuff because there’s always enough short-term stuff to really consume you.”
The departure Like all good things, premierships come to an end. A new arrival in Downing Street means there has been a departure. Out with the old and in with the new.
In 2016, moments before Cameron went out to make his final speech, Bertin caught him just behind the No 10 door to tell him how proud she was of what he’d achieved. “Please don’t,” he said. “You’re going to make me cry.” When he came back in there were more tears, though he held it together. Just.
Leaving the building, and the power and influence it gives, is a wrench. Wood says, “It’s like handing over your most precious possession to someone else and resenting the fact that it’s not yours, but you want them to treat it well.”
Wood left a note to Bertin in 2010. When Bertin came to leave six years later she wrote a note to her children on No 10 paper, saying, “This is what Mummy did.”
And so it ends as it began, with letters. Before leaving Brown wrote three letters: one to Cameron (left under a bottle of whisky), one to Nelson Mandela and one to Aung San Suu Kyi. Most prime ministers leave their successor a note, knowing they are one of just a handful of people alive who know what the job is really like.
Brown had a well-worn joke about this. He used to say that when you finish in your job and your successor is taking over, you hand them three envelopes. When there’s a crisis (and there always is), they open the first letter and it says, “Blame your predecessor.” The next crisis, the second letter says, “Blame the statistics.” And finally the third envelope says, “Prepare three envelopes.” To find out more about what happens when you become PM, listen to Matt Chorley’s Red Box podcast special on iTunes, Acast and Spotify

As many of the Christmas ones with Xander you want
tw:nsfw, tw: sex mention, tw: singing, tw: dancing, tw: GLEE
🎁   /   our   muses  exchange  gifts  to  one  another .
Atlas was tired, Xander had apparently been away all week and for the first time in months the witch was forced to reacquaint himself with how deafeningly loud Alarick’s snoring was. The wall that divided their rooms practically vibrated, the entire night. But, it was Christmas Eve, and Xander had promised to be back, so after he’d pulled on a heavy sweater, the witch had headed closer to town and towards the vampire’s home.
There was something different about the place as the oracle approached Xander’s front door, he pulled the key that the vampire had given him out of his pocket and slid it into the lock. There was a warmth when Atlas entered the home that felt almost palpable, was that cookies? Xander stepped around the corner, a bright smile on his face, unusual, but welcome, as the two were quick to embrace. Atlas breathed out a few words, I missed you, I love you, Merry Christmas Xander, as Xander’s arms wound aptly around his back and pulled him close. The vampire’s face buried in his hair, he spoke the same soft words in return as the pair lingered there for a while.
“Do you wanna see what I made you?” Atlas asked, a smile on his lips, it had been expressly difficult given how dilapidated his old work space in the forest had become, the long hours spent weaving out in the wilderness was now less of an soothing retreat and now more of a hassle. His loom did not fit in Alarick’s cabin and nature had worn away at its once sturdy frame.
“Another sweater?” Xander quipped, Atlas shook his head, still in the vampire’s arms as he leaned back, Atlas added a heavy roll of his eyes, his hands rested on the back of Xander’s neck.
“It’s a blanket, actually.”
“Ah great, because I can never have enough blankets.”
The witch felt his face bright slightly, he enjoyed the labor that went into it. The satisfaction that gift giving gave him.
“I’m kidding, I’m literally wearing the sweater you gave me. I can’t wait to sleep with it, now c’mon, I want to show you what I got you.”
Xander took his hand and pulled Atlas deeper into his home, the silver rose-petaled daylight ring that the witch had gifted the vampire previously glinted as they passed through rays of sun that flooded from above. The ring felt cool to touch as Xander gripped his hand and led him through the den and to a back study that, as far as Atlas knew, had mostly gone unused.
“Ready?” Xander asked, his hand fell from Atlas’ as he reached for the double doors, he looked back with something akin to mischief in his eyes. Perplexed, Atlas merely folded his arms across his chest.
“I suppose.” There was no small part of the oracle that was not concerned, there was every possibility that he was going to hate whatever was through these doors. Atlas braced himself as Xander swung open the doors and all at once the oracle’s breath hitched, a gasp escaped his lips.
The study had been refurbished, significantly. Dusty shelves had been revitalized with every spellbook and reference guide the vampire had apparently been able to get his hands on. The witch moved to run his fingers along a herbalist’s guide to the native forests of Greece, bestiaries and spellbooks, hand written journals of witches and oracles alike. Shelves of every regent the witch could think of, fresh and powdered, local and imported; there were planters that hung across floor to ceiling windows that allowed for natural light to come through and join the soft rays that filtered through the skylight. Beneath sat a wide-brimmed cauldron, freshly polished and - bronze? Before the windows between planters was a desk, stocked with tools and equipment, items for enchanting, for brewing, for divining.
Perhaps the most beautiful portion of the room was along the far wall to his left, rows of different materials, and above all a hand crafted loom, the finely polished wood and detail was stunning, all at once Atlas was upon it before he turned towards Xander at the sound of his voice. A clearly satisfied smile on the vampire’s face.
“I want you to have somewhere you can work,  why not here?”  Xander stepped in, “I love you, and I don’t want you to go, so, stay - stay here, with me.” Atlas threw his arms around the vampire all at once, his lips upon Xander’s as he breathed yes, yes, yes, in between each kiss.
🍞   /    to  invite  my  muse  to  a  holiday  dinner  with  their  family  .
“You look fine,” Atlas insisted, his family had been making their own clothes for centuries, they absolutely were not going to care about the state of Xander’s holiday attire. Actually, he does look a little too put together.. The oracle shook the thought from his mind, he was only slightly nervous, and the last thing he wanted was for those nerves to rub off on his vampire fiance.
“Easy for you to say, what am I supposed to tell your father again, I’m thirty-two and holding?” Atlas rolled his eyes.
“Just be yourself, he’ll love you. They all will, I promise.”
🔌   /   help  hang  lights  or  decorate  with  my  muse.
“This is stupid.” Xander commented as he held the ladder while Atlas climbed it.
“No, it’s festive.” Atlas corrected. He reached off of the top to hook the last strand over the eavestrough, the witch wobbled a bit and Xander all but hissed.
“Be careful, just come down.”
“I’ve almost got it, just... a little more... -” All of a sudden Atlas lost his balance and he was suddenly falling from the top most part of the ladder, he landed in Xander’s arms and heard the ladder clatter to the side beside them. His face red, his arms wound around Xander’s neck, the vampire just shook his head.
“Can we go in now?”
🎄   /   decorate  and  help  my  muse  with  a  christmas  tree.
Atlas hummed in between verses as carols played over the radio, they had been nearly nonstop since November first and while Xander was not amused, they were presently decorating the Christmas tree together and thus the music was on theme.
“You have a nice voice,” Xander commented,
“Thanks, it’s the only one I have.” Atlas offered, the vampire scoffed as the witch continued to go behind Xander and reposition the ornaments he had just hung up.
“What are you doing?”
“Just... It’s important to space things out so there isn’t any weird vacant spaces.”
“Right.” Xander shook his head and continued to not adjust his technique for placing ornaments.
🌿   /   our  muses  catch  themselves  under  a  mistletoe  .
“Look,” Atlas offered, his hands on Xander’s chest after they’d bumped into each other. One of their friends had a holiday party, and truthfully, neither had really felt like attending but here they were. Being social. being seen, together. The witch pointed above them as the pair swayed lightly to whatever holiday anthem played around them. “mistletoe.”
“Is this why you like the holidays so much?” Xander asked, an inquisitive but playful look in his eyes as Atlas merely shrugged.
“Maybe.”
Xander kissed him then, strong, certain, less of a formality and more of a promise: we’ll do this again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, too.
💨  /   our  muses  are  trapped  inside  a  cabin  during  a  snow  storm.
The snow had hit suddenly, and hard. The two of them were visiting Atlas’ parents, and while they were enjoying the holidays with the Coven, the two had slipped away to steal a few quiet moments alone, and while they were out and away, a storm rolled in overhead. Out of blind luck, a cabin appeared in the distance, all at once Xander scooped the witch into his arms and sped ahead through the dense snow bank to burst through the cabin door.
Wind and snow bellowed behind them as their laughter rang through the small structure, their lips pressed together as Atlas kicked the door closed. It’s freezing in here, the oracle smiled as the vampire moved their lips in a heavy tandem. The other’s hands worked away at their clothes as articles were haphazardly discarded about the abandoned cottage.
I can think of one way to keep warm.
✨   /   our  muses  watch  the  northern  lights  together .
“So, why the top of the world?”  Xander asked, the pair had traveled about as far North as you could, beyond the closest National park, to a place that the coven had only ever heard whispers about. From within their walled tent, the pair managed to keep warm against the minus forty degrees weather that roared outside in the night air.
“Just wait.” Atlas promised his head nestled on the delicate curve of Xander’s shoulder, his hand wandered idly across the vampire’s chest as he traced small lines across cool skin. All at once Xander’s eyes went wide, the witch drew his gaze from the ethereal green glow that had been cast across his lovers eyes, to look at the roof of the tent.
The aurora borealis was close enough to brush the top of their tent, lines of green and gold and pink danced through the walled enclosure. Atlas’ eyes sparkled as he watched with some delight, his head canted to take in Xander’s expression, it was one of bewilderment and wonder, there was a smile, and that was all the oracle longed to see.
“It’s beautiful.”
NAUGHTY  :
💋   /   give  my  muse  a  hot  steamy  kiss  .
“Xander?” Atlas called out, his home was welcoming, cozy, comforting. It had transformed recently, infused with new life, perhaps a bit of happiness. “Helloooo,” the witch called out again, he went from room to room until the oracle pushed open the bedroom door and all at once he felt Xander’s lips upon his. All at once Atlas groaned as he pushed his hands through the back of Xander’s hair, his lips parted as the vampire moved his lips against his in a fiery tandem. The witch kissed out of need, necessity, out of desire, he emptied himself into the other and continued to pour. Kissing Xander had always been unlike anything else, anyone else, and while the vampire slipped past Atlas’ lips he greeted him warmly, eagerly, hungrily. The oracle remembered every story ever told about Hephaestion and his prowess, his generosity, his willingness to please, and truly, he held nothing back thousands of years later. When Xander at last broke away Atlas was pressed against the door, nothing but his own hot breath between them as he panted, lips suddenly sore. Xander smiled, “I missed you.”
👗   /   my  muse  dresses  up  as  a  sexy  Santa  for  your  muse .
The auditorium lights kicked on and from the stage, Atlas heard the doors swing shut. He felt some nerves as he wrung his hands together just off stage, this was a stupid idea, it had to be stupid, whose idea had this been again? The oracle looked down at the skimpy outfit he’d put together for this number and sighed, he’d spent too many hours hemming this sexy Santa skirt, too many days stitching these knee-high boots to not go through with it. Atlas fixed his hat one last time, the white pom-pom bounced idly on the side of his head as he walked with confidence onto the stage and took center.
The witch could tell by the look on Xander’s face that the vampire was shocked, good.
With a smirk he pulled the cropped red and white velvet top a little down so it at least met his upper abdomen before he leaned forward and folded his pleather-gloved hands on his knee. Leaned forward, the opening to Jingle Bell Rock began to filter through over the radio.
Preferring to sing acoustic, Atlas began on time, his choreography leading him to sway from side to side as he stepped to the beat.
“Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock,” The witch smiled, he did a short twirl as he pittered across the stage, “Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring, snowin’ and blowin’ up bushels of fun,” the talented tenor breezed across the lyrics, Xander’s stunned expression egging him on as he pun amidst a fake snowstorm. “Not the jingle hop has begun!”
“Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock, jingle bells chime in jingle bell time.” Atlas effortlessly hit the high note as he stepped to the beat and did a broad wave of his arm, he drew it across his field of vision as if beckoning a massive and unseen audience.
“Dancin’ and prancin’ in Jingle Bell Square, in the frosty air!” Atlas twirled again into a high kick as the tempo increased, “What a bright time, it’s the right time, to rock the night away.” He punctuated this with a turn before he slapped his bare thighs, “Jingle bell time is a swell time, to go glidin’ in a one-horse sleigh!”
As if on an invisible sleigh, Atlas held the reigns as he stomped across the stage, his high-heeled boots echoed like a dozen hooves as he walked, “Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin’ feet, that’s the jingle bell, that’s the jingle bell, that’s the jingle bell rock!!!!”
👅   /   my  muse  licks  your  muse .
“Stop.” Xander swatted at the oracle as the witch ran a hand through his hair. The vampire was not amused, his gaze on whatever book he was reading remained fixed before Atlas ran his hand through his hair again. Again, the vampire swatted at Atlas’ hand. “Stop,” Xander empathized, “what has gotten into you lately?” The vampire pressed, his gaze severe as he leveled his eyes on Atlas at last. The witch smiled, grabbed Xander’s head between his hands and pulled his face towards his so that he could run the flat of his tongue across the entire length of the vampire’s face. “Ugh.” Xander objected as he pushed a laughing witch off of him, the hint of a smile on the vampire’s face despite his disgust. “You’re gross.”
“You love me.”

          "Find your partners, quickly, ladies!"
I suppressed my smile as I watched our dance teacher take this way too seriously. I turned to ask the nearest girl if they wanted to be partners, but before I could approach anybody, none other than Kate stepped before me with her signature smirk.
"Hey, partner," she said, holding out her hand.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as I looked at her with a questioning look. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to smile at how cute she was acting.
"I never said we were partners, Kate," I said matter-of-factly.
She motioned around us. "Well, it looks like everyone else is taken, so you're stuck with me."
I looked around and realised she was right. Everybody already had a partner now, and they were beginning to line up in pairs so we could begin our lesson.
I sighed, narrowing my eyes at her playfully. "Fine. But only because you're literally the only choice I have."
"Hm, only choice you have, I like the sound of that," she said as I put my hand in hers.
I gave her a knowing look as she grinned, leading me to the line that had formed.
"I hope your practice has paid off, ladies," the teacher said proudly, since it was him who had practiced with us. "Pick a lead and begin!"
I looked to Kate with a raised eyebrow, watching as she already had a hand outstretched for me to take and an innocent yet devious smile on her lips.
I sighed, failing to hide my smile as I placed my hand in hers. She pulled me forward suddenly, our bodies pressing together, and grinned down at me, mischievousness playing in her eyes. One hand was resting on my waist as the other held mine up high.
"I take it you're the lead," I said, hoping my cheeks weren't heating up because of how close we were.
"Don't act like you don't love it," she teased, before leading me off as we began to dance.
I had no choice but to rest my other hand on her shoulder as she danced around, grinning as I tried to keep up.
"Kate, slow down!" I got out between laughter, trying to make sure I didn't trip and bring us both down on the gymnasium floor.
"No slowing down! This is perfect, ladies, keep it up!" our teacher said, only making Kate laugh louder.
"You heard the man," she said, beginning to twirl me around.
I had no choice but to follow as she pulled me close to her again, moving around in circles along with everyone else.
"You're enjoying this way too much," I said, trying to sound annoyed, but the smile on my face said otherwise.
"That I am," she said in agreement. "Am I right to assume you're enjoying this, too?"
I tried to glare at her, but she was smiling beautifully at me, all of her attention stuck on me as she kept a strong hold on my waist and danced us around the gym like idiots.
         "I hate you."
She laughed, shaking her head. "No you don't."
I suppressed my smile, meeting her hazel eyes.
         No, I don't.

I was writing down notes from the book we were studying in class, still listening to Mr. Middlewood as he spoke, when I heard my name being mentioned.
"Kate, is there something particularly interesting about Y/N that you would rather stare at her than listen to me teach?"
I widened my eyes and looked up as the class snickered quietly. I saw Mr. Middlewood looking pissed as he stared down at Kate, who was sat beside me in the front row. I followed his glare and felt my face growing warm when I saw Kate staring at me with a playful smile on her lips.
"Can you blame me? She's quite the distraction," Kate responded confidently, making me look down at my book with embarrassment.
"Eyes on me please, Kate," Mr. Middlewood said sternly.
I saw Kate look back to him with a mischievous glint in her eyes, her full attention on him now.
"If you wanted me all to yourself, Mr. Middlewood, you could have just said so," she said innocently.
I pursed my lips to hold in my laughter, as the rest of the class laughed at Mr. Middlewood's awkward expression. He avoided Kate's eyes and cleared his throat.
"Just pay attention, Kate," he mumbled, before walking to the other end of the class. "As I was saying..."
Kate leaned back into her seat with satisfaction as Mr. Middlewood continued to teach. She glanced my way, winking at me, making me look away shyly. She always did that. Flirted with me, made every effort to make me feel embarrassed and flustered. It wasn't fair.
After class ended, I was trying to head to my room when of course, Kate followed closely behind and jumped in front of me before I could go further.
"Hey," she said breathlessly, a smile on her face. "You walk fast."
I raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't expecting someone to follow."
She chuckled. "Yeah, well, what can I say? I missed your face."
"You literally saw me a few minutes ago," I pointed out, hoping it would distract from my probably-red cheeks.
She grinned knowingly, her eyes meeting mine as if to let me know she noticed. Thankfully, she chose not to comment on it, instead opting to lean against wall beside us as she smirked at me.
"What can I say? It's a pretty face."
I sighed, shaking my head as I couldn't think what to say. This seemed to make her laugh, and she stood up straight again, watching as a pair of girls walked past us before leaving us alone in the hall again.
"Did you want something, Kate? I kind of want to go to my room," I finally spoke, finding my words again.
She shook her head, hugging her books to her chest as she watched me with a cheeky smile. "As I said, I just wanted to see you again. But yeah, I guess I'm done admiring. You can go now."
I pursed my lips, growing frustrated because she always managed to leave me stumped for words.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Kate," I mumbled, before walking around her to get to my room.
"Can't wait!" she called back, and as I opened my door, I glanced at her to see her watching me with a flirtatious smile.
I ignored the butterflies in my stomach and headed into my room, glad that she wasn't there to see me stumble my way to my bed as I tried to forget what just happened and the way she made me feel.
***
         "Having fun?"
I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard a voice from behind me. I was in the library, doing some last minute homework, but it was ten 'o clock at night, so who else would come here?
I turned around in my chair, seeing none other than Kate walking towards me, except she was soaking wet and dressed up, as if she'd just gone out. But that couldn't be possible because it was a school night and nobody was allowed out on school nights.
"Kate? What are you doing here?" I asked, genuinely curious. "And why are you wet?"
Kate giggled like the immature teen she was and I rolled my eyes when I realised why. She took a seat on the desk I was sat at, leaving a wet mess on the wood and the carpet.
"I just had the most amazing night ever," she said dreamily, but she seemed a little out of it. Her eyes met mine as she grinned down at me. "I wish you were there. It would have been perfect then."
I rolled my eyes, but once again, my face started to grow warm. "Kate, what are you talking about?"
She laughed to herself as she leaned closer to me. She motioned for me to come closer, and reluctantly, I did.
"It's raining a lot outside," she whispered ever so loudly, before pulling back and laughing again.
"Kate, are you... are you high?"
It made sense now, why she was acting like that. Plus, I was sure I could smell the faint scent of weed, tobacco and alcohol combined on her clothes.
She was quick to press her forefinger to her lips. "Ssshhh! You can't say that loud or I'll get in trouble!"
She laughed to herself again and I suppressed the urge to chuckle at her.
"C'mon, Kate, I'll take you to your room," I said, standing up and grabbing her hand.
“But I wanted to tell you something," she complained as I pulled her off the desk and led her out of the library.
"You can still tell me," I said, holding in my laughter. "But tell me quietly or one of the teachers might hear you."
She giggled to herself. "You're really pretty."
"And you're really drunk," I said, hoping to take the attention off me.
"You're still pretty," she countered cheekily.
"Come on, we're here now," I said, ignoring her compliment.
"There you are!" Fern, one of Kate's friends, whisper-shouted from their doorway, before looking to me gratefully. "Thanks, Y/N, she just disappeared when we came back."
"Yeah, well she found me in the library," I said, passing Kate over to her. "Where did you guys go anyway? How did you get out?"
Fern kept ahold of Kate as she said, "It's a long story. I'll explain tomorrow. I gotta get this one to sleep somehow."
"I'm stood right here," Kate interrupted childishly.
"Yeah, yeah," Fern mumbled, before looking to me with a tired smile. "Thanks again, Y/N. I'll see you in class tomorrow?"
I chuckled because Kate was growing agitated now. "Yeah. See you tomorrow. Good luck."
"Thanks," she said, before leading Kate away from the door so she could close it.
I smiled to myself as I headed back to the library to finish up my work.
The next day, I found myself back in class, noticing Kate wasn't staring at me like she usually was. It was definitely a lot less awkward for me, but I did notice she was quiet also, probably because she was still tired from last night. Something told me that Fern and the others hadn't gotten her to sleep for a long time, since going to bed at ten wasn't exactly late.
I was still curious as to what they had all been up to last night, and how on Earth they had managed to leave without getting caught.
"You have until the end of the day to get this paper on my desk," Mr. Middlewood said as the bell rang. "If you're late, you lose marks."
Everybody got up to go and I packed away my things before heading straight to the library to finish off my paper. It was just some last minute additions and touch ups before I was finished and could hand it in, and thankfully I had no more classes for the day, so I could focus on that.
The library had a few other girls in it, some from my class who I assumed were finishing off their papers, too. I spotted my best friend, Y/BF/N, sat at a desk in the corner and joined her.
"Hey, how was class?" she asked, standing up and packing her stuff into her bag.
I pouted. "It was good, but have you got class now?"
She smiled apologetically. "Yep. I'll see you at lunch though? I know you have your paper to write."
"Yeah, I'll see you at lunch," I said, a little disheartened that she was leaving me. We had conflicting timetables today, which I guess I should have appreciated because at least I wouldn't get distracted by talking to her. Still...
"Good luck, Y/N," she sang playfully as she left.
I sighed and pulled my laptop from my bag, deciding to just focus on this so I could finish it already.
I was there for about fifteen minutes, surprisingly not procrastinating, when I felt a presence beside me. I looked up just in time to see Kate taking a seat next to me, a bright smile on her lips.
"Hey," she said, as if this was completely normal of her. She set a cup on the table, pushing it near me. "That's for you. Mint chocolate hot chocolate. Your favourite, right?"
I raised an eyebrow, an amused smile on my lips. "How do you even-"
"I have my ways," she stated, shaking her head adorably. "Anyway, it was just to say thanks for putting up with me last night."
I leaned back in my seat now, watching her curiously. She was smiling at me sweetly, her brown eyes sparkling in the sunlight that was shining through the window.
"You don't need to thank me," I finally said, before giving her a knowing look, "but since we're on the topic... I didn't know you smoked."
She waved her hand dismissively, avoiding my eyes. "It's not a big deal."
"Kate, it is – you should be careful," I said a little more seriously now. "It's bad for you."
"Thanks, mom, I'll keep that in mind," she teased, giving me a playful smirk.
I breathed out, knowing she definitely wouldn't listen to me of all people. "Never mind. Anyway, thanks for the hot chocolate, but I should do my work now."
"The paper?" she asked, leaning on her arms which were resting on the desk beside me.
I nodded, clearing my throat as if that would stop me from feeling flustered at how close she was. "Yeah. I've almost finished it. You done yours?"
"Finished it two days ago," she said, making me look at her with raised eyebrows. She laughed. "What? Just because I piss off the teachers I can't also do my work?"
"I didn't say anything," I said, chuckling, before looking back to my screen. "I should focus now anyway."
         "Am I distracting you?"
I glanced at her and she was leaning in the palm of her hand, smirking at me.
"Kind of, yeah," I said with a suppressed smile.
"Okay, I won't talk then," she said, nodding to my computer screen. "Go on."
I was confused but looked back to my laptop, presuming she was going to leave, but after thirty seconds of feeling her eyes on me, I looked back to her with a questioning expression.
         "Er..."
"What? I've not said anything," she said innocently, grinning at me.
"Can I help you with something?" I asked.
         "No, why?"
I looked at her with raised eyebrows. "You're staying?"
"If that's cool with you," she said, still grinning at me. "Unless there's some reason why you don't want me here?"
I ignored her flirtatious tone and peering eyes, instead deciding to shake my head, somewhat confidently, and sit up straight.
"No, you can stay, I guess," I said dismissively, looking back to my laptop with flaming cheeks.
It took about ten minutes for me to get used to her presence. She said nothing, as promised, but it didn't change the fact that I felt her eyes boring into the side of my head, watching my every movement with her obnoxiously beautiful smile on her lips. Eventually, I stopped feeling rigid and actually focused on my work. She even helped, once again surprising me with how much she'd been listening in class.
"This is perfect, you're definitely getting an A," Kate said encouragingly, looking up to me after reading my paper.
"You think?" I asked, smiling hopefully.
She laughed. "Are you seriously doubting yourself? This is awesome. Well, as awesome as a paper about 18th century literature can be."
"Thanks," I said appreciatively, feeling a blush forming on my face, as usual.
"C'mon, let's print it," she said, hitting print before standing up.
I followed her through the empty bookshelves, tossing the empty hot chocolate cup in the bin on the way, and stopped by the printer to collect the print-out. When it finished printing, I pulled out the several sheets of paper and stapled it together before holding it proudly in my hands.
"Looks like you're done," Kate said, and I looked up to see her leaning her back against the printer, smiling beside me.
"Yes I am," I said, smiling to myself. I met her eyes and added, "Thanks for the help, even if you kinda left me no choice but to accept it." She laughed as I continued. "And thanks for the hot chocolate."
"Anything to make a pretty girl smile," she replied confidently, staring down at me.
I breathed out, pursing my lips as I tried to remember how to speak English. She found this amusing as she laughed at my dismay, making me roll my eyes before giving her a knowing look.
"Look, I think we both know the effect your... compliments, let's say, have on me," I finally got out. "Can't you just be straightforward and say what you're thinking?"
She stood up straight, taking a step closer to me. "You want me to tell you what I'm thinking?"
I suddenly grew nervous and took a little step back, but she just kept moving forward, eventually making my back hit the bookshelf behind me, leaving me nowhere to go.
"I can tell you," she said, her eyes staring into mine, making my stomach do somersaults. "Or I can show you, if you'd prefer."
I didn't know what to say as she blew a strand of hair out of her eyes and watched me with a teasing smile. She knew what she was doing as she stayed a few inches from me, eyes flickering down to my lips.
         "Kate..."
Her smile faded as she met my eyes again, breathing out quietly and tickling my skin as she did.
"I've wanted to kiss you for a long time," she said in a dangerously low voice.
"Then do it," I said, searching her eyes. "I'm not stopping you."
She seemed surprised and I was, too. But I didn't really dwell on it because she had moved forward now, pressing her lips to mine as a hand rested on my waist. I closed my eyes, raising my hand to rest on her neck, and held her, whilst moving my lips against hers. I felt like fireworks were going off in my stomach as she moved closer to me, if possible, kissing me like it was all she had wanted to do.
Eventually, we had to pull away for air and I found myself submerged in her eyes as I caught my breath.
"Was that okay?" she asked, the first to speak.
I was surprised at how considerate she was, any hint of obnoxiousness or cockiness gone, instead replaced by uncertainty.
I nodded, giving her a small smile. "Yeah."
She mirrored my smile and I felt her hands lace in mine.
"Was that straightforward enough for you?" she asked, and her cocky self returned as she smirked at me.
I couldn't help but laugh as I breathed out, looking down at our intertwined fingers.
         "Yes, thank you."
"We should submit your paper," she said, letting go of one of my hands to reach down and pick up the fallen paper. I didn't even realise I'd dropped it.
"Yeah," I said, still a little dazed from our kiss. It was the first kiss I'd had with anyone, let alone a girl. It was perfect.
         "Hey, Y/N?"
I looked up, seeing Kate watching me with a confident smile but nervous eyes.
         "Yeah?"
She licked her lips before saying, "Do you maybe want to go out with me? We could go out for dinner or something, on the weekend."
         I smiled. "I'd like that."
She breathed out in relief, which, once again, surprised me because she was usually so sure of herself.
         "Awesome."
"The paper," I reminded her, letting go of her hand and taking it from hers.
         "Right. Paper."
I began to walk back to my desk, but I felt her pull me back quickly. As I was about to ask what she wanted, she kissed me, leaving me no room to speak. It was quick but left me dazed once again.
"What was that for?" I asked, feeling my face go warm.
         She grinned. "I missed you."
I rolled my eyes playfully, at a loss for words because if she was annoyingly clingy when we weren't 'together', how would she be now?
"I hate you," I mumbled, trying to fight the urge to smile.
Her melodious laughter echoed around us as she joined my side, intertwining our fingers again. "No, you don't."
My smile broke out against my own will as she continued to laugh.
         No, I don't.
