its rly funny how natural cognitive behavioral therapy comes to me,,, like im 22 and the way i deal with existentialism is already SO streamlined,,,, at least a couple times a week ill be vibing and then... *realizes again in a focused sense i will one day die, that what im experiencing now has to end at some point* oh right *gut feeling of terror and unbearable dread at this burden placed on me* aa this sucks *immediately recontextualizes it as out of my control and something i cant rly be aware of as i will be long gone from my consciousness by the time death meets me and the world is impossible to understand anyways so in a sense i am once again reminded to not dwell on the fear and return to how i felt before, which is (in a sense) immortal, in my lack of focusing any fear towards my inevitable death* awh yeah i dont care anymore

the character everyone gets wrong

maybe its a boring answer but phoenix. good god do people just Not understand him. i think the fact weve seen him in so many forms (feenie, trilogy, 7yg, aa5/6) makes it hard for people to get a pin on him, but thats the thing: u cant really get a pin on someone like that. too often i see stuff where, well into his thirties and having gotten his badge back, people portray him as just as outwardly emotional (and sometimes emotionally volatile...) as he was when he was dating dahlia, and Thats Simply Not The Case, especially after how guarded and jaded he became during aa4. hes SUCH a complicated character i cant even go into specifics and try to give other examples, because they each require paragraphs of their own explaining context and nuance in what goes through his head. i dont know how else to go on, just know that i am the only person who is correct about phoenix wright, and if anyone requires consultations for fic or art, my fee is steep but fair

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

all of them. no im kidding, uhhhhh hm. i guess that klavier and apollo Immediately knew they liked each other/were attracted to each other and spent any time pining for the others affection during aa4. i like klapollo as a ship, i just dont think klav teasing apollo with flirtation when they first meet means he was Seriously Flirting with apollo, i think its possible there was a base physical attraction but he was mostly just trying to get apollos goat for fun since he was a rookie attorney. and because of that, what reason does apollo have to be drawn to klavier? apollo isnt some stock tsundere, i think he probably was really annoyed by klavier and Didnt Like Him All That Much at first. plus, with aa4s story being what it is, i just dont think any romantic feelings are on either of their minds until well after the last case. with their ship, i like to imagine they start as professional adversaries (not rivals in the sense phoenix and miles are rivals, its a different vibe), then become friends, THEN graduate to exploring other feelings

10. worst part of fanon

all of it. no im kidding, the worst part of fanon is how rigidly people expect u to obey it. if u dont portray miles as a gay trans man, people look at u weird, for example. which isnt to say that its Bad to follow that fanon, obviously i also think hes gay (i dont personally headcanon him as trans though) but just that it is fanon. until we get concrete proof in a game or anime or what have u of miles demonstrating or naming his sexuality/gender expression, it is just as perfectly valid to portray him as a cishet man as it is to portray him as a gay trans man, even if i personally think its weird and impossible to imagine him with a girlfriend or something. its fine to have different interpretations of whatever; its Not fine to get mad at somebody because theyre not following fanon that u personally ascribe to

obviously nothing wrong with mlm ships, i have been known to enjoy many mlm ships! but when a wlw (particularly a lesbian...) complains about the disproportionate amount of mlm fan content between characters who literally never spoke, stood next to each other once, or where one of them is literally Not A Character (clay terran is a prop i am not wrong about that), its SO FRUSTRATING to see the response be someone taking it as a personal attack and throwing the blame back out at wlw for not just shutting up and dealing with it. that post that showed among us had significantly more mlm fics over wlw fics on ao3 when Those Stupid Creatures Dont Even Have Gender/Character applies to like literally every other fandom

16. u cant understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc.)

any situation in which phoenix depends on miles for money during 7yg. similarly, royalty/medieval au where phoenix is some kind of servant to prince miles, and yes being a knight counts as being a servant in my mind. these two things feel wayyyyy imbalanced to me but in fanworks theyre portrayed as like necessary and appreciated by phoenix (in the money situation) or really romantic (in the royalty/medieval situation). idk, to me, phoenix would rather saw off his own arm and eat it than accept money, especially from miles, during 7yg, and if he did accept it it would only be because miles says 'let me do this for trucy then if ur gonna be so stubborn about it' and he Begrudgingly Agrees; with phoenix being miless knight, it just feels too much like people seeing phoenixs one-sided devotion to miles in aa1 and going 'this is normal and desirable behavior', and idk how to tell people this but phoenixs savior complex over miles is Not Good fjkdsjlfslak like it worked out for them but i dont think phoenixs behavior towards miles in aa1 especially is indicative of a well adjusted, emotionally stable person, and that hardly ever gets talked about its just 'wee wah hes soooo in luuuuurve isnt that romantic'

siblingsssss there are so many good sibling pairs/groups in aa. also wlw ship stuff In General because there is never enough in any fandom. also also (because i love to kick the hornets nest) more fic where the intention is to Tell An Actual Story With The Characters instead of projecting the authors trauma and/or kinks and/or personality onto the characters where it doesnt fit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

honestly, i havent thought about it that much? maybe i should, but since ryunosuke is with maya, and phoenix is with susato, both of those groups are gonna figure it out a while before they even meet each other (but everyone will meet everyone eventually). i feel like ryunosuke would be like "thats so weird but also cool? but also what the fuck im gay how did i have a child? but im also super proud of him i think"

CR2E94- With Great Power...

This whole section of the campaign is so wildly different then what I thought it would be. Not in a bad way, and I didn’t really have any strong expectations, but it’s just paced differently!

Ok first of all I thought the arguing over leaving the Hag was really interesting. The ways everyone had to be convinced to trust Jester were interesting, especially Fjord. I can’t decide if it was a deeper relationship issue or if in the moment everyone was just so stressed and on edge and ready to sacrifice that they just couldn’t conceive of anyone solving it that easily.

WOW that camp conversation. There is much to discuss. There’s something about this moment that feels like a turning point in the Nein’s relationship. I think in various small group convos they’ve all expressed how much the group means to them, but idk if they’ve ever had a family sit-down to directly look each other in the eyeballs and commit to preserving this thing they have. Nobody leaves.

They really feel so much like a family here! From the teasing to the emotional honesty to the willingness to call people out and demand things. There’s this new level of comfort that I think had slowly been developing but really came to an obvious head this time.

even with Caduceus, which I think is new. He admits to loving them all here! and in a smaller but even more important moment, he encourages Beau, she questions, but when he answers w the very Clay “I know things” She calls him on his mystical bs! At least Beau, and probably all the nien, are starting to see beyond the wise guide and healer wall that he has very purposefully put up between him and the others. 

And then Fjord ahs such a great moment with Beau! Wtf! I forget sometimes that Fjord is chronologically, and in some ways maturity-wise actually much older then most of the group. His life changed so drastically pre-stream that he needed to figure out his shit in a way that makes him seem young. But here he is telling Beau how she’s young and horny and full of potential and this side if him with so much more life experience than anyone else in the group gets brought out. 

I love how he’s like, coaching everyone through things. I actually thin Fjord is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in terms of healthy headspace right now, and that’s put him in this fascinating position of being an optimistic leader, joking and encouraging and making people say they care about each other. Its so good im gonna cry

Essek as mary poppins was so cute! I did not know how to feel about this evil wizard fandom darling, and I was tbh prepared to be impatient with his character, but I cannot dislike him. Matt has done too well making it obvious that he’s just this extremely lonely guy who is so charmed by the Nien and has zero clue How To Friend. I can see now why he meshes so well with them, because the entire vibe of the m9 is just a bunch of unpleasant idiots learning to love and be humans by helping each other.

It wasn’t a long moment, but Yasha knocking the flask away from Nott was so cute. It would be so easy to blame Nott for not trying here, but I’m trying to remember that addiction is a compulsion and a disease. Which doesn’t give people an excuse not to try and heal, but in a world w out aa meetings the best thing you can do is have a friend support system to stop you bodily from making the bad choices, which Nott does, and I think that counts for her doing what she needs to to kick the habit. She asked for help, that's what counts, and she has people who will help her.

Also Yahsa’s comment that “we’re a tribe now” was so interesting! Obviously she took something big away from that conversation in the swamp, too. What was it exactly? I wonder of looking around her and getting explicit verbal confirmation from everyone that they loved each other and had no plans to go anywhere was all she needed. I wonder what if anything will change about her behavior now that she’s thinking about the group that way.

AAAAAAA The Traveler. So he was a campaign 1 dude? I don’t really get what an archfey is but I assume it will be covered next ep. but wtf is Jester going to do? There is something incredible to me about this story. This little girl that inspires a powerful being of chaos to start using his powers to help people and change lives instead of just fucking around, but he tried to help too many people in too many directions and overbooked himself oops. 

Then on the other hand Jester has now lost literally the only person in the world she thought she could be sad and vulnerable around. Because if he needs help, then he needs reassurance, and Jester will add him to her list of “people to comfort and protect, which means i never ever show any negative emotions to them because they love me for being strong and happy”. Which is sad.

PYROC VS FATHER PAUL

Ya bitch needs an art break bc im getting angry about voices existing as i try to keep myself entertained. Today is NOT a god one for sinking into repetitive line work and that’s just about all i have on the table atm

SO! Im gunna do a little thinking about my little meow meows all fucked up by religion. Just a comparison for my sanity and interests. Pyroc is my baby i wrote him for the first time years ago. Five?????????? Whadda hell. Going on six.

ANYWAY john joined religion because of his trauma. His sister died and he felt lost. He was unmoored in this fishing village and looking for reason looking for hope. Hed had his heart broken and trying to make sense of tragedy on his own was totally beyond him. Thats why his interactions with riley in AA are SO good like. He knows that confusion and he knows the rhetoric that’s supposed to combat it. Only it dooesnt work for riley.

The same sort of thing happens for pyrc, only inverted. Loss urns him away from god and religion because its SO strong in his family and not only is he loosing trust in god, but his kin as well. He’s suspicious there’s mre they arent telling him, at the point of his fathers death. And he agrees to, on the surface, absolutely wholly throw himself in to being the second the family and the village need. But he’s keeping his treachery under wraps.

That’s one of the coolest things about father paul imo is like. That slow unraveling of what is. Frankly. An awful half assed plan, driven by fear and loneliness and desperation and dementia and love. Even VERY obvious things like. Taking down the newspaper photo of his young self ‘slip’ by him. I think, on some level, its DEEPLY intentional. He wants people to CHOOSE this. He wants people like bev. He wants people who see him and are in aw of him beating god. Of killing death. He wants to be worshiped and adored and for people to come to him willingly, no tragedy driving them to his arms.

Pyroc also wnats to be worshipped, but he ALSO wants to do the worshipping. He really longs for an element of almost????? But not quite??? Subjection?? He wants to be shown something and for a Great Voice to tell him, unquestioningly and unerringly that it is GOOD. Full stop. And then he wants to spend his life worshipping it. But this booko is an exploration of how….. no such thing exists. And more importantly no great voice exists either. There is nothing wholly good, nothing wholy evil. His lack of faith in himself once he becomes god is him starting to understand that as well. Thats on purpose baked into the lore. The starting point was ‘what if god was a position and in order to get promoted you had to be a murderer. No matter what’. He understands things are not wholly good, at that point. I onder how long it will be for him to realize they are not fully evil as well?

Bc pruitt does hm hm hm an interesting move. Where he takes something the narritve is very sure to communicate is EVIL no wiggle room just fact. Even if its driven by animal instinct its. Evil. And he makes it, not just good, but HOLY. And god i LOVEEEE that for him i ADOREEE that what a MOVE. Driven by desperation and dementia and relief and ‘if god saved me than maybe i can be good despite loving and sinning and maybe if i defeat god then i will be Thee Good’. SO sexy of him. Im really fascinated by his morality. He seems to have an understanding of the shades of grey in some respects??? But if he had a BETTER one with more forgiveness in his heart i feel like hed have left the church anyway after sarah was born??? Even if millie didnt ask him??? That might just be my own sensibilities creeping in but ….. like he culd have seen her on the weekends. He can do other jobs. Hes straight (??? Not totally convinced of this) he could have just dated her that makes me crazy. LIKE OBV HE HAD LINES HE THOUGHT THAT WOULD CROSS AND HE HAD INTERNALIZED THE CHURCH AND THE RULES AND SHE WAS MARRIED AND ECT ECT i know he couldnt have really but. Thye were straight. They coulda.

Thikns about john bonding w sarah over science and learning and starts wEEPING…. Like theres some surity beloved. Its just a matter of uncovering. I think sarah felt that same thirst for answers and hunted them differently. Her faith is in logic and science. I loveeee her god. Every scene w her and her dad absolutely RUIN me like!!!!!! SHE DOESNT KNOW!!! SHE DOESNT KNOW HOW LOVED SHE IS!!!!!! I hope at hte very end she saw the blood as the gesture of love it SO clearly was and not him trying to poison her. In the future pyroc gets a kid. Ever since that campaign where Enemy ended up playing his daughter im like. How did i NOT know this idiot wanted nothing more in the entire world than to travel it with his daughter. I dont care how or why hes getting a kid. Hed be so doting and awful abut it. He would need orion as a co-parent for the kids self esteem to be normal levels. thINKS ABOUT PAUL GETTING TO RAISE SARAH AND JUST ABSOLUTELY GASSING HER UPPPPPPPP HANGING EVERY DOODLE SHE EVER MADE ON TEH FRIDGE. BOASTING ABOUT HER SCEINECE PROJECT OT ANYONE WITHIN EYESIGHT EVEN THOUGH ‘WE K N O W JOHNWE WERE ALL AT THE SCEINCE FAIR’!!!!!!!!!!! Let these fuck ups be doting fathers im fucking begging. That scene where paul is like. You take ccare of everyone on the island sarah. Its more than being a doctor. You comfort them.

HM HM comfort is such a thing for Miss Bitch like!! He sees it as a Good Thing. He tries to bring it for riley by asking to hold the AA meetings on island ((also manipulation. Obvously also manipulation. I wouldnt have bene shocked if he was slipping the vampire blood into the coffee every meeting either. But thats just a theory. A game theory.)) ANYWAY he sees comfort as hly. The church gave it to him when he needed it. The angel gave it to him in the cave. Feeling safe and warm is HIGH on his list of priorities and what makes him hand over respect.

I think pyroc has lived a very comfortable life in SO many ways, but in none he. Activly recognizes. A key part of his character arc his him…. Opening his eyes to the world around them. Seeing the privilege he has and being like. Wait. This isnt Right. We have to change thi. And when no one agrees ti shifts to I have to change this. With Violence. A little revolutionary <3 it only costs the life of his whole ass family

Thats more fun comparison ground like…… paul is SO much about I know whats right and there is a cost but i AM ignoring it. Like HE KNOOOOWSSSS he knooooows he just doesnt want o See. I’m not sure if im going to surprise yroc with the ……megadeath of. His whole family. Or if it’s a choice he has to activly make. I think a choice makes it more compelling, more layerd. It has to be in the moment though, becaus ei think thats. A key difference between them. Pyroc wouldnt do it.. hed just leave hed peace out and do what he could in small ways. But he wouldnt do his big stand off with god. Hed shrink his goals in order to not hurt his family. Out of love?? Intimidation?? Some instinct wihtin him that balks at the idea of disobedience??? I think even he doesnt know. But i LOVE john becaue he jsut decides to lie. He closes his eyes and says i am being stupid on purpose. I think thats PERHAPS more compelling than good guy coward pyroc BUT!!!!! Thats who he is rip to ths little man. Cant change him now hes a whole ass child in my head. The PLOT i can change. Him….. not without massive character development <3

Adalia = Youth

It fits her too well it hurts. Basically from the perspective of her mother, shes sorry she cant be there for her, but she wants the best for her, and she knows her daughter is destined for greatness. The first paraghaph of the song explaints everything honestly. Adalia will go through hard times, and take tough, and often bad, decisions, but she knows she will fix it all in the end. "Dont you know you got my eyes" even tho they arent together, they are still family, and trusts her she will be better than she ever was.

Lilyana = The other side of paradise

For her, it might describe her feelings toward most things that has happened in her life. Going somewhere new, meeting people that shes now supposed to call them her 'friends'. And that she cant go back to before when everything was ok, only her and her sister. "I settle for a ghost i never knew" sure, its her sister, but she grew up, shes not the same, and shes scared of the fact she herself has changed too. She doesnt want anyone to know about the wicked truth after all. Also as the song progresses, so does her feelings about her sister and what shes doing.

Oliver and Rhett = Gooey

I know everyone has their own song, but this one goes for both of them, as their story is very tightly tied together. One of them is trying to tell the other about the truth of life, and are trying to warn them about its dismay. "I say i told you so, but you just gonna cry" They act immaturely and get hit with reality, just like they told them, he didnt take it well. So now the other one has to try and fix/help them "i take your gloom, i cut it up and buff it into plumes". Theres also a slight hint of "but, can i trust you?" Vibes if you look closely and that goes well too ye.

Stephany = Life itself

Ok this one is SUPER detailed. I could disect every lyric from the song but i dont wanna spoil or bore yall. Basically, literally the first lyric of the song describes resentment toward her parent figures. Everyone expects too much from her, but she doesnt want to be what others want her to be. Everyone is watching her and judging her for what she did. She let everyone down, she just wants a break from her stressful life. So she "breaks free". The song specially expressed a sort of pressure and anxiety of breaking free and escaping that past life, which goes nicely with her.

Sophie = Flip

Went with this one cuz it kinda goes well with how Sophie felt about someone, she didnt like the idea of having to be friends with someone who she HATED, someone who had seriously hurt her. She wanted to get rid of them, she really didnt want them back in her life. "...Chopping up the threads made up from looms of love and blood and hate..." after a while they did become closer, but her feelings are still there, years of anger, wanting revenge, but now they are back together and she doesnt know how to feel about it.
