ꨄ︎ rafe is a bit confused but ofc he doesn’t ignore it and gets off. he steps back for a moment to let you get composed before coming closer again.

he gets you into your pj’s and then goes to the bathroom to finish himself, coming back a little more relieved and relaxed. then a movie night and some rare cuddles and kisses.

ꨄ︎ jj is stopping within a second of hearing it. he’s very serious about safe words because he knows what it’s like being hurt against his will and he really doesn’t want you to feel like that.

it’s the only time that he’s pretty serious after sex and has a proper routine. he’ll get you cleaned up, letting you do it yourself if you feel more comfortable that way. and he’s serious about communication too, asking you what you need and getting it for you.

he’ll put on a movie that you like and make a snack for you. then lots and lots of kisses and he’s constantly apologising cause he feels bad for pushing you too far.

ꨄ︎ john b is sooo gentle with you, immediately pulling out and reassuring you. he’ll give you all the space you need to recover before helping you clean up and change.

lots of praise and he gets you everything you need. afterwards he’ll sit down with you and just talk to you a little about what happened, asking what he did wrong so he can make sure not to do it again. he also makes sure to tell you that he didn’t mean it because he knows how important it is to communicate that.

ꨄ︎ pope is nearly panicking, but he does his best to stay calm for your sake. he’s very methodical after the fact, making sure you’re clean and comfortable before anything.

then he puts on a movie and rocks you until you fall asleep <3 he makes you your favourite breakfast in the morning too, to make sure you feel extra cared for!

Are you named for anyone? Nope, not really. I have a name I might switch to irl, which is my name here, Lif. So really I just named myself after the human woman who survived Ragnarok by sleeping through it.

When was the last time you cried? Last night at midnight. I had to hold in my sobs so hard, and it was literally just over a character death. It really hits me.

Do you have kids? Does a very needy kitty boy count? I'm on mom duty with him for hours every day, and I lost sleep in high school doing all the mom stuff: feeding him, burping him, giving him medicine, giving him baths, reading to him so he could sleep okay, singing him to sleep (these were all vet recommended, and they helped his temperament a lot [he's mentally ill]). I do want kids someday. Almost had one in 2020. I still think about her, especially as May is coming up, and she was supposed to be born then. I don't bring this up to make anyone sad, or feel pity. It's just, part of my life, you know?

What sports do/have you played? Archery!! I haven't been able to do it since an injury in 2013 (yes, I realize this happened forever ago at this point), but it was fun. I should maybe try getting back into it. The lanes are expensive though, and I would need a lot of good places to sit down in between shooting.

Do you use sarcasm? That I do.

What's the first thing you notice about people? Same as sindar-princeling, I think. Probably the facial expressions. Next I look for something to compliment them on.

What's your eye colour? Really dark brown.

Scary movies or Happy endings? I feel like these are not opposite ends of a spectrum or anything. I want to say happy endings, but my favorite Star Wars movies are the tragedies: Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, The Siege of Mandalore.

Any talents? Oh heck yes! I can play the clarinet, sing, compose, act, write, cat photography (trust me, it is a talent and a skill), edit pictures, and bake (I'm better than average at decorating though, but still kinda suck at it).

What are your hobbies? Right now it's mostly reading, watching TV and movies, listening to music, playing video games, and writing.

Do you have any pets? I have 2! A maine coon girl named Alley Cat who will be turning 17 this Saturday! She's so silly, and a sweetie, and just full of love. Sometimes she annoys me because she thinks I'm her littermate (we were kids at the same time). She also still snurgles (suckling while kneading at the same time)!! And she loves food. She’s just so stunning and adorable. And then there's Loki! That's my baby boy. He picked me to be his mommy when I was 15. I've been there for him through almost everything (sadly couldn't be there for a scary hospitalization when I was in college a few states over). He's silly, he's lovable and loves giving love, he loves kissies, he likes to be brushed, he loves making biscuits. He loves playtime, and he loves getting into trouble. I have the best kitties.

How tall are you? 5'4 (I still want to cry about somehow growing an inch in my early twenties)

Favourite subject in school? PHYSICS AND BAND!!!

Dream job? I really don't know anymore. I wanted to be a professional clarinet player, but that couldn't happen, I wanted to be an actor, but that wasn't able to happen, I wanted to be an editor: again, nope. Screenwriter? Maybe? Author? I don't know anymore.

spirit: stallion of the cimarron (2002)

the long shot (2004) <- this one is super niche bc it was a direct to tv film but i saw it when i was little and became obsessed. i loved the soundtrack so much i tracked down the composer to ask if he had the files or would put it on spotify and he sent me a CD of it back. my favorite track off it is here.

most of the horse films i watched were when i was a little kid (i have only recently begun watching movies consistently again) and i mostly read horse books instead (SO many horse books) but i also recall watching the white pony (1999) but not if i liked it, and the same for cowgirls 'n angels. i also avoided ever watching any black beauty adaptations because i KNEW i would have cried. i remember loving breaking free (1995) when i was like. four. so i don't know if that one would hold up at all. and saige paints the sky isn't technically a horse movie but i meannnn saige was literally the horse girl american girl of the year so i dunno man. do with that what you will. two-bits and pepper (1995) made me cry lol.

list of things about this movie that i can’t get out of my head or scream enough about to my partner:

please look at carlo’s little scooter!! because it gets put away up in the attic after he dies :’)

carlo is a bright young artist who really likes filling in the sky! that, or his favourite colour is blue. you can see at least four of his pieces in his shared bedroom with geppetto. three of them are pinned to his wall (the last being on geppetto’s), one of which depicts a smiling sun identical to the smiling suns that become pinocchio’s signature. it’s still there, years later, right where pinocchio would be able to see it as he turns over in his bed on his first night alive.

there’s this little hop-skip-step carlo does that is just. such little kid movement. it only happens two times (once as he’s being gifted his schoolbook and another time as he’s entering the church) but it’s so consistent in how they animate it?? god. i love stop-motion!!

the way carlo’s pinecone flies out of the church and is the only thing that survives its bombing (intact) is visually echoed later by pinocchio, when he flies out of the fascist youth camp and is the only person we see that survives that bombing (intact)

LOOK AT SEBASTIAN’S CUTE WALNUT SHELL BED. now look at the framed picture by his lantern because it gets replaced in the epilogue with a lovingly crafted portrait of his joyfully smiling/laughing family...all of which is in pinocchio’s heart...[weeps]

haha, you know what else geppetto couldn’t stand to tuck away for years in his heartache despite his home being so barren of a child’s frivolity compared to how it looked in the film’s beginning? carlo’s scarf (and we know it’s his because it’s. literally the same prop)

during the i came to church scene, where the townsfolk are spitting their scorn at pinocchio after he tells his first lie, you can hear geppetto defending him as he pulls him into his side: “no no no, no, he’s harmless!”

geppetto never stopped being a parent and it’s made so clear in the little instinctive motions and things he does. the way he answers pinocchio’s questions despite being so very overwhelmed; the way his entire being softens when he sees pinocchio curled up in the storage space; the way he makes to catch him and eventually does catch him when he staggers over his own feet; and more...it doesn’t make him a real parent, not in the way pinocchio has always been a real boy, but the care and love and innate inclination for it never left...he just needed to break in those shoes again

you ever think about how much cleaning geppetto (with pinocchio’s help, i’m sure) would’ve had to do on that first night? childproofing by way of finally throwing out those empty bottles, of actually tidying up and putting away the breakables (and mementos)

the fact that nearly all the songs in this film were also leitmotifs except ciao papa, because the composer explicitly wanted to leave that melody untouched and especial. just for pinocchio and geppetto. i’m going to riot

spazzatura being so casually tactile with geppetto even after only meeting him for the second time will forever live in my head rent-free...they’ll be patting or touching or holding onto that old man (THEY GAVE HIM A LITTLE KISS ON THE HEAD!!) and that old man will just let them! what the hell! my fucking heart!! it’s probably smth carried over from being all over volpe but it’s just. so sweet to see with geppetto instead [sobs]

every single time geppetto runs his thumb over pinocchio’s cheek or the back of his head, i burst into tears (even when i don’t have tears to burst into)

the storybook we see pinocchio handle in the epilogue is the same one geppetto used to read to carlo and. the way everything is set as we see him open it. he absolutely reads these stories aloud to his papa and spazzatura and sebastian by the hearth...and his signature is so beloved that it’s even framed and placed smackdab in the middle atop the fireplace! the centrepiece!! i canNOT deal with this movie AUGHH

Come On Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners - fun fact, when I was eight or so my stepdad told the joke... well, I say it was TO me, he says it was IN FRONT OF me, it's a point of contention. Anyway, it's a ridiculous and very common joke: What's worse than Grease on Olivia Newton-John? Come On Eileen. And because I was EIGHT it will literally never leave my brain and so EVERY time this song pops up, that joke appears in my head.

Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus - my mum was a fitness instructor and I can still see the step aerobics routine to this song in my head. It involved a grapevine.

Decomposing Composers by Monty Python - we had this thing on VINYL (before the vinyl renaissance) and I fucking love it

19. Three songs that are your guilty pleasure

You know, I refuse to feel guilty about the songs I like anymore. I spent my teenage/early twenties downplaying and defending my love of TSwift to my rock/metal friends, my love of hard rock to my Swiftie friends, my adoration of movie versions of Broadway shows to my theatre friends.... etc. You get it. HOWEVER, I will put here three songs from my Barbecue Beats playlist that always get me a "THIS?" when people are at my house and hear them lmao.

Get Low by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz - the day after the RWRB film came out my spouse came into the kitchen while I was cooking and this song was playing, and they were like "Oh, this is stuck in your head because of the film?" and I had to be like no, it's been on my playlist for ages lmao.

Everywhere I Go by Hollywood Undead - also on my 'Feminism Off Misogyny On' playlist for obvious reasons, it's ridiculous but fuck is it fun to sing.

Pull My Beads Of Love by Mr Fantastic and Sam Riegel (from The Legend of Vox Machina) - this song is fucking unhinged and I'm obsessed with it.

Te Ao Mārama by Lorde - the lyrics are absolutely fucking gorgeous and it's one of those songs that's so fun to sing along to

Kia Tū Au Hei Ariki from Lion King Reo Māori - so far Lion King, Moana, Frozen, and Coco have all had full te reo Māori releases and I believe Encanto is next? And every damn song is incredible, the films aren't direct translations, the use of pronouns, dialects etc is VERY deliberate, and they are all amazing, BUT as Lion King is the only one of these films from MY childhood I have a particular soft spot for it. This song is a banger in every language, but what I like about this one is there are a few lines in it that are sentences/sentence structures you learn very early in te reo lessons, so beginner Māori speakers will listen to this song and be like OH!

Thank you @gwiazdziarka for tagging me (and thanks for all those book recs, I’m adding all of them to my list, except for the ones that I’ve already read), and I agree, maybe all of these won’t be my absolute favorite books, but they’re either books that I think about a lot, or books that have a special place in my heart, but not necessarily something that I go back to over and over.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exúpery

This one is definitely a favorite. It’s a book that I’ve reread many times, because I feel that it has a different feel every time, depending on what I’m going through at that moment. Also a classic. Love it so much that I’ve started to collect editions in different languages; so far I have Spanish (of course), French, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Euskera (possibly one of the rarest), and Swedish (of course, because I intend to be able to read it by next year).

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

Also an absolute favorite, classic down-the-rabbit-hole type story that takes place in London Below. Fell in love with it, with the world-building within an already existing world. If i actually had to list 9 of my favorite books, pretty sure the whole list would be Neil Gaiman, but this book is both entertaining and comforting, so I pick this one. The BBC radio drama adaptation starring James McAvoy and Natalie Dormer is also excellent. Still waiting for the book sequel, though…

84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff

The most charming book in history, composed entirely of letters between an aspiring writer and rare books collector in New York and the manager of a rare books bookshop in London. Their relationship is platonic, and yet one of the most romantic things I have ever read. The movie adaptation is equally charming and it has Anthony Hopkins and Judi Dench in it. Read the book first, then watch the movie, then cry endlessly. Rinse and repeat.

Like a Hole in the Head by Jen Banbury

You should know that I get a lot of book recommendations from TV shows, so I decided to hunt down this book when Monica was reading it in more than one episode of Friends (felt like a subliminal message). And it was fucking worth it. Also a book about a book. A dwarf comes into a bookshop where the protagonist works, to sell a first edition of Jack London’s White Fang, and only after he’s gone she finds out just how rare it is. Heist plot ensues. It’s equally strange and exciting, mind-blowing and cathartic.

The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan

Very melancholy, this book is a collection of essays, poems and short stories published posthumously, as Keegan died in an accident at 21. She was very talented and could write convincingly about many things. Can’t even pick a favorite one out of the collection, because they’re all very good in very different ways. Very bittersweet.

Los Caballos Estornudan en la Lluvia by Dimas Lidio Pitty

Another short story collection (the title literally translates as “Horses Sneeze in the Rain”), from a Panamanian author, from the region where I spent my childhood summers, which still holds a very special place in my heart, and which has a mysticism about it that he helps preserve in these stories. Dimas Lidio Pitty was very good at magical realism. One of the stories in particular is so brief, but it’s incredible how good it is in such a short narration.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

I’m a huge fan of classic dystopic science fiction, and this one has got to be my favorite. The narrative is interesting, moves along at an excellent pace, and it covers everything. Another book about books too. If you haven’t read Fahrenheit 451, the premise is simple: in this dystopic society, firemen don’t put out fires, they start them… to burn books. Book banning to the extreme. What happens next? You need to read it to find out.

El Misterio del Solitario by Jostein Gaarder

I have been obsessed with this book (The Solitaire Mystery in English) by Norwegian author Jostein Gaarder since I started reading all his books when I was a teen (I don’t even know how I came across him, I just picked one up one day and went with it, it wasn’t even Sophy’s World, it was Through a Glass, Darkly). Of course Sophy’s World is probably the most famous, and it was very good, but this one is so strange and magical that I read it several times ages ago, and it was such a comforting book, and now I would like to reread. Maybe one day soon I’ll read it in Norwegian!

The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

Another classic and favorite, which I have also read many times. Some people like Alice in Wonderland, some like Peter Pan, I like the Wizard of Oz. I like anything Oz related, the movie, the musical, Wicked (the musical, not the book, tho), everything. But the source material is still where it’s at.

Did you ever watch Idina Menzel (my sweet, beautiful talented queen)'s documentary, 'Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage?' It had me on an emotional roller coaster! If you haven't watched it and you have access to Disney+, then I recommend you watch it, please, and let me know what you think. I think you'll like it! Awe-inspiring, surprising, sweet, sad at some points (especially towards the end)... Babe had a bit of a hard life growing up and was a struggling artist. Anyways, I would love to snippets of see his thinking process from writing the lyrics to singing demos to off Broadway, etc. A little bit about Moana too even though we already got quite a lot of clips in 2016 already. so i just came here to say that i finished watching the documentary & honestly, the amount of tears i've cried is insane. for someone who didn't know much about idina, i feel like this movie was a great way to start & i would definitely recommend it to everyone. she's literally so cool & down to earth! her love for her son & her husband also made me feel so emotional, she is such a great mom & it shows. i've been literally taking notes because i feel like i have so much to say... i actually mostly knew her from rent (it's one of my favourite musicals), so it's no surprise that every mention of this show & jonathan larson made me cry (especially when she was singing "no day but today", dear lord...). one thing about me is that i've never had a chance to see/listen to wicked (please don't be mad, it's on my list, i swear!), i only knew "defying gravity", because of course, but right now it's something that i definitely need to check out (look what you made me do). sorry for being super chaotic lol i can't control my emotions right now.

with that being said, i will be the happiest & the most annoying person on earth if lin ever drops a documentary like this (i know we had one about freestyle love supreme & i love it with all my heart, but like you said, we need one about his whole life & career). all those interviews with him that i saw will never be enough for me, i need to see more & more... he's so inspiring & i could listen to him talk forever, so yes, please, i need this to happen asap! :(

Re: my thoughts about the solos now that I've really thought about it...I know I singled out Evermore and Wild Uncharted Waters back when I was reading The Little Mermaid Novelization because of how they chose to summarize both moments in both Novelizations: But if there is one thing I can say for the solos from all three films is that I appreciate that:

Evermore starts with the Beast hunched over the rose as it dies and by the end makes his way up to the top of the turret as you see Belle riding off in the distance. And how the first half of the song is how she just torments him calms him hurts him and moves him {pretty much the opposite of what the whole second half of the song is} which is him listing how she inspires him and IS a part of him {in everything he does} Tim Rice and Alan Menken I'm kissing the ground for whatever the hell you were smoking {it's still my second favourite solo I can't totally toss it away} this song was playing every day for a whole year and a half in 2017-2018.

And how in Wild Uncharted Waters the song pretty much starts with Eric feeling suffocated with not being able to leave and tormented with the whole aftermath with Ariel and how he is just too gone for her and how he's just descending farther away from the palace and closer and closer to the shoreline pretty much ready to just swim to her if I'm being honest and ends with him on the ship vowing that it would take his whole life to find her {like ffs HOW COULD THIS NOT BE MY NUMBER ONE SONG} people are delusional if they think this song is MID its anything but that and thank you again to LMM and Alan Menken we are GLAD TO HAVE YOU HERE} Seriously this is THE MOST ROMANTIC SONG. {But TLM is also Alan Menken and HA's first disney collab baby so of course she's the best (TM)}

I just really cant get over how good the entire soundtrack is in fact I'm going to go listen to the song AGAIN.

Also with Speechless {Part 2} mainly {but also just the full thing} because in the film it literally starts with Jasmine getting sent away because no one wants to listen to what she has to say {really the whole plot line with her becoming Sultana was my fav part of this whole movie} and how in the middle it hits the chorus and she breaks free to march back in face to face with Jafar and the whole room in freeze frame??? Basically telling his frozen stature that he could essentially try it bitch but she wont have it. And top it all off with that PIANO and BACKING ORCHESTRATIONS.

Your favorite video games work really well, because Anton seems like he would play more technical, puzzle-solving games- Portal, Terraria, and the like. It’d be really cute for the two of you to play Stardew Valley, which is cute and atmospheric and has an open-world concept like you seem to like but also has a goal and method to it that he would excel at.

So I watched Werewolf by Night (that title is hilarious) tonight and I am kicking myself for not watching this sooner!

This was a delightful love letter to classic werewolf movies. Pretty basic story told in a visually creative way. I adored the lighting, the action was very fun, the werewolf design was great, and the acting was really good.

Also the fact it was directed by one of my favourite film composers, Michael Giacchino, is the cherry on top.

Literally my only issue is that they went to colour in the end! Why'd you do that, Marvel? I was having fun in Classic Universal Monsters land! Also apparently they're releasing a full-colour version this month... yeah, that's a stupid idea. The black-and-white aesthetic is easily one of the best parts of this TV special.

Anyway, I had so much fun with this :D

aww ok lemme see if i can recap anything that i remember! it was hosted by the composers of the weird biopic, zach and leo something, ill check in a min

they were talking about their favourite score cues in the weird movie, they really liked the theme that played when dani-Al reunites with his dad. they said that at one point in the movie they had a version of al's theme based on madonna's holiday (which made me pog cos i love that song but hadnt noticed)

al said he wrote now you know in 5/4 time (which i hadnt noticed either) and that it was his first and only song in 5/4, and that he must have been feeling jazzy and progressive lol

someone asked who als favourite pool party cameo was and he was like "theyre all my friends, i dont want someone to get jealous" paraphrasing btw not direct quotes i cant remember exactly what was said

eric appel also joined the stream briefly! to show off a bunch of props he had in his office like the golden bust, the Hay Boy, and a tiny drumset, but then he had to leave. after he left the guys hosting said "theres a bunch of people in the chat saying "who was that guy?" like guys that was the director of the movie" it was like oh my god

also people were SPAMMING fortnite and the guys asked al if he plays fortnite or wants to be in fortnite and he was like "No i dont play fortnite but i guess if they approached me about it i wouldnt say no" then everyone in chat was yelling at him to hit the griddy

they asked him what games he plays and he said he had the taste in games of a 14 year old boy but at that point I fucking spilled my drink everywhere :( so i missed most of that conversation

someone asked about the possibility of a Weird Al Cinematic Universe and al was basically like "that already exists"

OH . THIS WAS IMPORTANT. right at the end al said to one of them (cant remember who - the one on the right? i know their names are leo and zach) something like "you were talking about your favourite weird al song in a panel and said it was "windows 95 sucks" and the guy said "yeah! i love that song man!" and al said "yeah well actually i didnt write that song" and they both were literally like :O!!! and everyone was cracking up and al jokingly called him out for downloading his music like "i feel like you found that on napster" KFJHSG. thats the real consequences of music piracy, kids - not hitting children w your car or selling crack going to jail or denying artists their diamond encrusted swimming pools - the fucking real Weird Al may call you out publicly for misattributing parodies to him. the guy took it well i have to say. like he looked very embarrassed but he handled it fine. i would have died.
