I ship them in the they're soulmates and their existance requires their being together, they complete each other, compliment each other, make each other better, which is why they should beside each other all the time... which is why Eji's soul is with Ash's all the time.

i love how ash is the badass nyc gang leader for most people and for eiji he's this silly little nerd who likes to get on his nerves and cannot wake up even after an hour of waking up and has the most delicate body (might cry if he gets a paper cut) and gets shy to ask eiji to stay with him

tbh I think I could accept the ending if it wasn't for the bullshit Yoshida said about Ash needing to die bc he was a killer so he needed to pay for that with his life

because I could accept that ykw he sacrificed his life for Eiji's happiness. He let himself die because he knew that while he could VISIT Japan, he couldn't stay there forever, and once he came back trouble would still always follow him. I could accept that he died so that Eiji wouldn't be a part of that

But to create this character, knowing the trauma he has and the type of life he lived and knowing the awful things that were done to him and the horrific things he was often FORCED to do and to just disregard that by saying he's a killer is literally the same thing that all the other characters did who didn't even see Ash as human and called him the devil or a monster

i cant believe they first had yut lung wrap his arms around shorter in the introduction and then have that first meeting and identity reveal and perfect set up for enemies to lovers / star crossed lovers and then they went ahead and did THAT with my boy shorter?????? and long after that had yut lung hate eiji for shorter basically saying he was wrong to think that yut lung seemed like eiji because he's a horrible person while eiji is great????? which (once fucking again) reminds me of (seriously i cant stop thinking about it) the focus on the scene where shorter's knife ends up cutting some of yut lung's long ass hair after that whole manhandled on the bed scene

i just- i have so many feelings

there was so much potential for shorter and yut lung but they decided nah, we'd rather [redacted] the guy

Sometimes I see people complaining about Ash and Eiji, saying how they are the definition of queerbait just because they don't do what you would normally expect a mlm couple to do

The thing about mlm ships is that they're too sexualised

You usually know the endgame when you see two boys having unexplainable sexual tension and it doesn't even take long to get them there, usualy by third chapter

Now, there are some good anime that potray healthy and normal mlm relationships, but people now mostly just read BL manhwa where relationships are mostly toxic or done for fanservice

And then fans like that decide to watch Banana Fish because someone told them they have a cute relationship (they usually ignore TWs but whatever) and decide to shit over them because they didn't even have a proper kiss like???

Do they need to fuck on screen to prove their love

Sometimes we forget that most of BL boys are young and sure, boys IRL do think about sex a lot but they also have feelings and want to love which most media doesn't show

Ash had trauma that could have been healed (maybe not comepletely, but enough to at least try and live a normal life) if he decided to live, but he didn't, and we can't just know what he would've done with Eiji if he went to Japan

Eiji is sweet and shy, we don't see much from his perspective, and we also don't really know much about him and why he was interested in Ash from the very beginning, you could describe it him being mysterious or it's just author's laziness lol (motives might be better explained in the manga where Eiji is a little more realistic to real boys)

And then you see those two just enjoying each other's presence and say YEAH THATS QUEERBAIT

???

When did it become unusual for two people to just enjoy having each other, it's not like you and your partner have this akward sexual tension moment every single second of your time lmao.
