the passenger princess playlists
「 tws + notes: no tws, unedited, probably ooc, self-indulgent because we have fun here, author's taste in music is utter shit 」
「 gn!reader, can be platonic or romantic <3 」
↳ ft. these stupid parasites that keep infecting my brain aka bruce wayne, clark kent, jason todd, tim drake, and stephanie brown
author's note: THEY ARE THE PASSENGER PRINCESS!!!! WHY???? because if i projected my music taste on the reader insert we would have many issues. im not THAT self indulgent w/ my stuff i say, posting hcs of character's music tastes based on my own
you decide that it's time to show how much you trust them.
"hey," you mutter, eyes still on the road, fingers absentmindedly drumming on the wheel. "...you can have the aux cord, by the way."
▸ BRUCE doesn't even take it at first. he usually prefers to drive in complete silence himself, so he lets you handle the music. he's pretty nonchalant about what you play, indifferent to most music as long as it doesn't make his ears bleed.
the first time he takes the offer and plays something he personally enjoys, it's pretty straightforward: his main genres are classical, jazz, and dad rock. like... a lot of dad rock. he can read the room er, car?? well enough to know that the classical and jazz songs he listens to aren't exactly driving playlist material. and yes something in the way by nirvana will be played battison i fucking love you
BRUCE's songs include: ♡ she sells sanctuary by the cult ♡ something in the way by nirvana ♡ 1979 by the smashing pumpkins
▸ CLARK is more than happy to share his music! he's always been excited to hear whatever you jam out to and is pretty open to different genres. he definitely finds favorites of his that match the energy of your car playlists. doesn't wanna play anything that's too much of a bummer though, mainly because driving with you has such good vibes!!! he can't ruin that :( unless your in some sorta mood to be upset. then he's got some stuff aka a lot of elliot smith and jeff buckley
he finds a lot to love in all sorts of genres. it's a mix of stuff that he grew up listening to with his parents, stuff that he found on his own from artists he enjoys, and stuff you introduced him to. his music taste is just a mosaic of love for the people around him.
CLARK's songs include: ♡ it's been a long, long time by harry james and his orchestra ♡ cupid by sam cooke ♡ real love baby by father john misty
▸ if there's someone who's going to criticize music without sharing his full music taste? it's JASON. he's actually not mean but he'll make comments which give the impression that he thinks he'd be better with the aux. like bro ask for the aux normally. REMIND HIM WHO'S HOLDING THE WHEEL. YOU BETTER PRAY THAT THE VOTERS ARE IN YOUR FAVOUR WHEN WE DRIVE INTO THIS TELEPHONE POLE
when you give him the aux privileges he's secretly overjoyed. he likes a lot of different genres, rock, metal, indie rock, some punk... but don't ruin his mood by pointing out his music taste is vaguely inspired by bruce's. or make fun of him for listening to sleep token. obviously he likes listening to chill music too— but for a drive? it's gotta be loud and fast. secretly gets happy when you like the songs he plays. the validation gives him a quiet sort of joy.
JASON's songs include: ♡ knives out by radiohead ♡ goddamn these hands by the taxpayers ♡ custer by slipknot
▸ TIM is pretentious about music, but he doesn't intend to be. he's proud of his taste to the point where he's beyond spotify wrapped and stats.fm. i firmly believe he's made his own software to track the music he's listening to and it's thorough. that being said, he really doesn't mind listening to your music. he likes giving recommendations based off of the songs you play in the car.
tim adores branching out into different genres, and the more obscure it is, the more he likes it. given, he's also into some pretty known and loved bands. car seat headrest. radiohead. slaughter beach, dog. the minute you hand him the aux, he's trying to put you on his favourites. a lot of indie. like... so much indie. and midwest emo... american football WILL be played. he also unfortunately cannot hide his love for the pinkerton album.
TIM's songs include: ♡ never meant by american football ♡ oh! starving by car seat headrest ♡ tragic girl by weezer
▸ STEPHANIE is so cool. i've seen swiftie headcanons but guys... pop punk princess stephanie brown is too real. pop punk, alternative rock, riot grrrl— all that stuff. probably got aux privileges before you even gave her permission, she just started queuing up her songs with yours.
when she gets full control, she already has a playlist ready for the drive. it's kind of all over the place, but the vibes are great. you will go from mommy long legs to chappell roan and then to whatever recession pop artist she's into that week. steph is also a big fan of evanescence, kittie, and hole. those in specific are heavily headcanon-y but i feel like she'd appreciate them.
STEPHANIE's songs include: ♡ misery business by paramore ♡ cherry scented by jack off jill ♡ gimmie brains by bratmobile
▸ what are you listening to? you don't know but CASS seems happy at least. when you gave her aux privileges, she didn't really know what to do. she ended up just picking her favourite songs out of your usual playlists.
eventually, she gets excited by the prospect of sharing what she usually listens to and it's... something. so here's the thing: she listens to a lot of ambient noise. like, things that people usually sleep to. you once drove around for half an hour listening to nothing but the noises of rustling leaves and chirping birds through your speakers. and she was happy.
she listens to a lot of music where there's not a lot of lyrics most of the time, but tends to listen to some of stephanie's music as well— usually the more mellow side.
CASS' songs include: ♡ relaxing tranquil day in the forest by nature sounds ♡ healing ritual by whatever, dad ♡ to violet by adrianne lenker
part two... potentially??? lmk which character's you'd want ^_^
— reblogs always appreciated!

Hi! I read your oneshot involving Micah and fem child reader and absolutely loved it! I never thought i could see Micah ever taking on the role of a parental figure but you did such a good job tying his character into a role that i thought would never fit him! I was wondering if you could expand more on their dynamic afterwards and how reader would interpret his ‘cull the weak beliefs’ do you think teaching her these would ever come to backfire on him later especially if used against him?
Micah Bell and Fem! Child Reader Pt2: Knives Out
Warnings: incredibly angsty, Micah Bell, you're gonna hate this if u love Micah LOL, lots of murder, terrible beliefs, graphic description of murder, and child death.
tldr: Micah Bell's teachings came to bite him back in the ass. :( Nobody close to him can be happy.
A/n: Hi, Anon! Thank you for the req ♡♡♡ I'm so glad you liked my last fic! I hope you like this one, too. Feel free to send any more requests you might have :p
Listen while you read?:
Today was your third month of 'bonding,' as Micah liked to call it. You'd slowly progressed from being as terrible of a shot as Sean Macguire to being fairly good at your shots. Of course, you weren't as good as Micah, but he congratulated you on your significant progress. Unlike the others, Micah has been surprisingly patient with you. There were a lot of things he had to teach and show you, and you seemed to learn best when you were in the middle of action.
Not only had you become a better shot, but you'd also become a more malleable tool. When you finished your first robbery, Micah decided that from now on you weren't going by your old name. The Bell family had a very specific practice they used when choosing names. For the first time in a long time, he flipped open a Bible and scoured its pages for a suitable name. Eventually, he settled on Elisabeth, the technical grandmother of Jesus. Not because she was a humble or remarkable woman, but because she was stubbornly faithful. Like a dog.
He hoped that, since he'd earned your trust, you'd follow him like a dog to the ends of the earth. And that you did. No matter what he did, where he went, or who he killed, he stayed as your role model. Beyond that, he was also your new father figure. Sure, you liked Dutch and Hosea, but they never saw things from your point of view like Micah did. The Dutch, for one, insisted on the dramatics constantly. He'd make up schemes to entertain himself and some big wig bastard, then steal the money. Which probably would've entertained you if you had the patience. And Hosea, well, he didn't enjoy the 'thrill' of murdering and robbing the same way that you did. Meaning that he liked making a fool of himself and then leaving with a small sum of money.
Not to mention that Micah secretly found both of them to be fools in their own ways. You thought, at first, that he saw you as a fool too, but he assured you that you were anything but. He called you his 'kinfolk.' His kid. You found it odd. He claims to be so strong, yet he practically creates his own weakness. With this idea in mind, you began to dissect some of his flaws.
When the two of you were in camp, you noticed that he was anything but pleasant to the other members. He often harassed and berated many of the women in camp, too, which you found odd. Even odder was the fact that he berated Jack, which made you curious. Was he perhaps jealous of John and Abigail for their achievements? It seemed so. You guessed that he was jealous because he too wanted a family, no matter how dysfunctional. Though he hadn't had much luck considering that, like the stupid man he is, he took his anger out on all the women around him.
Micah Bell could never score a woman, and he knew that very well. And now, so did you. And all you had to do was watch him like you normally do. Every time you did, he'd lean over and whisper in your ear about how someday he's going to get a nice and fine wife, and these floozies are going to be sorry. You knew better. Every time he'd provide some weird back-handed compliment, you wondered if he knew it only made him look weak. He had all bark and no bite. Which, in many cases, he did. All talk until Dutch struts over, then suddenly he's acting like he's a holy deity sworn to do nothing but good.
That was one major weakness you'd noticed about him. His one big fault. Micah seemed to assume that being a snake oil salesman made him a man. A man fit for survival in the natural world. A man who could do whatever he wanted and whenever he wanted as long as he still had his silver tongue. And it did, for a little while. He could go around murdering families and sleep like a little baby the night after. That is, until he met you.
See, Micah Bell had done himself dirty when he began 'training' you. Because, unlike Micah, you shut your mouth, and you watched everyone really well. You waited for someone to come to you, and you didn't, no matter how tough it was to resist, let your guard down. Yet Micah Bell had shown his since the day he decided to mentor you. Sure, you were unaware of the impact of his actions then, but he'd taught you well. He'd gifted you a higher consciousness without even knowing it.
So, after three long months of needlessly long interaction, you put his teachings to work. You woke up bright and early to listen to the birds chirp their jovial toons. It was nice to let the weak be, just for a moment, because sometimes they end up surprising you with their entertainment. Your steel gaze turned to Micah, who was fast asleep on his bedroll, facing the cliffside. He, too, was nice when you left him be. When he did sleep, it looked peaceful. And, for a moment, you decided to let him be, too.
You grabbed your satchel, one that Micah had bought for you, and opened it. From it, you produced a jagged stone that you'd found back in Strawberry, after the pair of you (and Arthur) murdered an entire town. You originally picked it up in order to execute whoever was holding Micah's precious revolvers, but he beat you to it. And, with savagery and cowardice, he murdered another family right in front of you. It was eerily thrilling when you first experienced it, but now? Now you feel nothing but guilt. Not for the town you'd helped murder, but for Micah.
You looked down at him, staring at his greasy forehead. As you lifted your stone, you teared up as you remembered all the times that he'd slipped up. A terrible feeling sank into your chest as you thought about your first robbery. How he wiped your tears away after you'd committed your first murder and rubbed your back like the father you never had. You'd given him your weakness, and he accepted it with unknowing tenacity. From then on, you gave him your weakness, and he allowed you to piggyback off of him like a little parasite.
For such a morally corrupt man, Micah had always done his best to assure your safety, no matter what. When the two of you were low on rations, he let you have the last. When the gang was ambushed, he made sure you were never there. When the two of you were caught in a rock and a hard place, he always made you run back to camp while he distracted the bastards following you. It's your fault that he turned into something he never wanted to be.
It's your fault that he became so weak.
Your brows furrowed, and your face twisted into anguish. You lifted the stone up above your head and, with all your might, sent it crashing down upon his skull. It made a sickening crunch, like a pumpkin being dropped, but Micah did not move. You repeated the action over and over again until his head finally caved in. Once you were done, you walked over to your horse, one that he had gifted you, and shot her, too. Baylock was smart enough to run off.
From then on, you decided that, out of the four of you, Baylock would be the strongest. He was the survivor because he ran like hell instead of sticking around to die. Finally, you walked back to the cliffside and erased the last remaining proof of Elisabeth Bell's entire existence.
A/N: i hope people like this :p i know child death is a very sensitive topic, but I think that this is how it would go in the eyes of a child. I tried to make it a little confusing so that we could really understand how uniquely this kind of situation would affect someone as vulnerable as a child versus an adult.

## High Ranked.
Ability ;; ㅡ WINGS OF BLOOD. 🪽
[Wings Of Blood] - in other words,
𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 allows Narae to control anyone's body basically. A simple movement on the left could make the other person follow the lead of her slim fingers . No matter if she moves them to the right, upwards or downwards, the body WILL listen to Narae .
She can manipulate blood ONLY when a person contains it in them. For example she cannot manipulate blood like Nathaniel could. Thats why it allows her to move bodies around.
Narae is very skilled with her hands, specifically with her fingers. Her ability is sure very powerful but unfortunately she can not handle it as much as she wants to. If Narae uses her ability for more than 10 minutes, her body would basically start listening to her orders too. Example; ㅡ if Narae is on a fight zone with someone and throws them harshly away to the right , if 10 minutes have passed, she would also be thrown to the right. Thats why she wears the full on finger rings / claws to block the ability on her own figure. It sure does help but not for a long, thats why she is also a gun user and a very good one. Before becoming an actual member in the Port Mafia, Narae was more of a guard, more of a sniper . She was young when she was doing dirty job for Mori , young enough for her to not have found out her ability yet. Once she did though, Mori wasted no time and made her an official member.

Hi! Since I'm putting together a playlist for Nigel and Alex, I was wondering
What are some songs that you think are really good fits for them/their story?
I have a couple Like Minds playlists assembled using my own vision of the characters. The first is my take on LM canon (meaning sliiiightly divergent from it) and which is a complete list in the old school mix CD/tape style, meant to be listened to in order from start to finish as a complete story.
The second is a much longer and more random list that I am always adding to, and which is meant to be "what if they both live" vibes. Some of the songs are meant more specifically as POV or about Nigel or Alex, but most of them are the dynamic between them. Some of these tracks are heavily influenced by the He Stings Like He Means It fic by @gali-in-distress, including the song from which the title was pulled as the first track, and also with songs from which chapter titles were pulled. I am always adding more as I find relevant music for them.
The entire first playlist are songs that fit them well, imo. If I had to pick specific songs from it, I'd have to go with Salvation by Scanners or Monster by Meg Myers.
The big AU list has so, so many tracks that it's really hard to pick just a few. Honey, Young God, Ya'aburnee and multiple other tracks by Halsey are all good. Arsonist's Lullabye IS Alex's theme song as far as I'm concerned. Beautiful Crime by Tamer, Become the Beast by Karliene, Animal covered by Chase Holfelder, Wicked Game covered by Ursine Vulpine, Strangelove covered by Black Math, Tiny Gods by Shayfer James, Bang by Armchair Cynics, Exit Music by Radiohead, I Come With Knives by IAMX, THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND by Bad Omens, I LUV U by Mia Rodriguez, Time is Running Out by Muse, the list goes on and on.
Everyone is going to have their own take on Alex and Nigel and their dynamic as a couple, and music taste is so personal that I recommend just going through the various Like Minds lists on Spotify to see what presses your buttons. To find even more music, I also recommend listening to Hannibal/murder husband playlists and maybe also Killing Eve, Death Note/Lawlight, Killing Stalking, and similar media themed playlists because they tend to have a similar vibe.
Hope that helps!

Frozen Creative Notes Volume 2 Part 1 | Chapter songs edition
Volume 1 | Chapter Titles edition
Some more extra content for the few readers who actually listen to the chapter songs or songs I sneak into the story.
Spoilers ahead up to chapter 15 so read at your own risk!
Chapter 1 Song | Firestarter by The Prodigy: The Prodigy is one of my all time favorite bands so it was only right to start the story off by making one of their songs an intro to Frost as a character. The moment Firestarter came on, I thought "this is Frost" because it foreshadows her personality and temper, along with the past she's known for, and hints that she's bringing that trouble with her. Additionally, I found it cool that there's a "Hey" repeating throughout the song. It's like she's greeting the TF141 as she joins the team, saying "Hey, I've arrived to complicate your lives."
2. Chapter 2 Song | it’s ok, you’re ok by Bonjr: although, it's an instrumental song, the title is relevant as it's what the officer says to little Frost once he finds her ("It's ok, you're ok. You're safe."). It's the first bit of comfort she ever receives from another person.
3. Chapter 3 Song | Conspiracy by Paramore: Frost finds out that the team lied and knew about Doberman before her transfer. Then, Price went behind her back and invited Keegan to join them on the mission. At this point, she still doesn't trust the team and realizes that the power she had as a solo operator is now fading. She begins to understand that she depends on the decisions of the team.
4. Chapter 4 song | Arrow by Surf Curse: This song is about what's going on inside Frost's head. It's the first time readers get a glimpse of her vulnerability, the way she deals with all the trauma she carries with her, and how bad she is at understanding her own emotions.
5. Chapter 5 Song | Night out by Radiator Hospital: Oopsie. This was just straight foreshadowing of what happens to Sergeant Bo.
6. Chapter 6 Song | It's All So Incredibly Loud by Glass Animals: We're inside Frost's head again. She's struggling with the loss of Bo and her guilt.
7. Chapter 7 Song | Tears by Boy Harsher: History repeats itself. Price asks Frost to join Las Cuchillas again. The song focuses on her discomfort at the thought of going back and foreshadows the origin of her knife throwing skills ("follow the knife").
8. Chapter 8 Song | Knife Prty by Deftones: Once again, a simple play on words. Frost takes on the members of Las Cuchillas, stealth-style with knives. The song foreshadows Frost's successful initiation and Carmen's pining for Frost in the following chapters.
9. Chapter 9 Song | Ese Hombre by LA INDIA: I fucking adore this song. Basically, the whole song is about a horrible man the singer is in a relationship with. She spits at his face, devours him. It's iconic. BUT although she hates him, he is still her man. This is how Carmen sees Frost. Frost has done her wrong, but she's still her Cocaina.
How can you not love it? She goes off lmao.
10. Chapter 10 Song | Reckoner by Radiohead: Aww this one. This one makes me siiiick. We're in Soap's head now... That sweet idiot. Soap risks his life to see and check on Frost while she's out with Las Cuchillas. The main reason for this song choice is the melody. It's as if I'm listening to Soap's desperation to save Frost in a form of a melody, how his thoughts and his heart tear at his helplessness. There's also this very simple line that perfectly explains his need to protect Frost at that very moment:
11. Chapter 11 Song | Summer Again by The Wytches: Frost loses Carmen. The grief is too much for her. She decides to leave. The whole song is just... just listen to it. It's an incredible musical depiction of vulnerability and pain. I feel like someone is tearing my heart open when I listen to it.
First line: Frost never got to tell Carmen how much she actually did care about her, second line: Frost is sitting on the floor with Carmen's body in her lap, third line: Frost decides to run away
12. Chapter 12 Song | Bad Timing by dEUS: Pretty self-explanatory. Frost comes back, only to find Soap and Jazz in her room. We all remember this one. Ouch.
13. Chapter 13 Song | You Do Something To Me by Paul Weller: The team goes on a team building trip. She's still in denial, but Frost realizes she has some kind of feelings for Soap since she is bothered by Jazz and they have a brief tense moment after the volleyball match. Beautiful song.
14. Chapter 14 Song | Vale by Maribou State: Frost starts pining for Soap, badly. She's barely holding herself together next to him, especially on the beach after the kayaking accident. The song shows Frost's internal vulnerability, excitement and realization that she does in fact, feel him.
15. Chapter 15 Song | Die On A Rope by The Distillers: Love the energy of this song and thought it would be awesome for an action-packed chapter. Also, a pretty literal play on words. Ghost and Frost are stuck on a cliff. Ghost urges her to jump to him but she's reluctant to do it. Will she jump? Will they die on a rope if she does?
---
That's it for Part 1. Let me know if you'd like Part 2!

I absolutely love how clearly you can hear the progression of ideas, confidence, and access to equipment operating so clearly when listening to Radiohead's albums in chronological order.
Starting way back with Pablo Honey where they were little more than an above-average guitar & drum indie ensemble with some catchy song writing.
Then the opening bars of Planet Telex on The Bends hit, and it's like, what the balls? There are feedback loops, phasers, flangers, filters, echoes and delays all over that. I don't know what sort of gear they used, and feel like looking it up would remove a little of the magic, but it seems like the kind of stuff you could fairly easily do with access to little more than a decent console, a reel-to-reel recorder, and a larger collection of guitar pedals than they had before, and I choose to hold on to that headcanon.
The album as a whole frequently veers back into familiar live ensemble territory, but there are all these little touches here and there that show them starting to branch out into new (to them) techniques, and I like to think they knew exactly what they were doing when choosing the heaviest showcase for all of that as the opener.
Then comes OK Computer. The use of layering really shines here; they're clearly getting comfortable with using the studio to "perform" as a much larger ensemble than they really are. Again, every track is littered with these little touches of filter sweeps in the background, haunting one-off appearances of things that might be sampled vocals, might be theremins, might be synths.
And of course the vocals on Fitter Happier.
Then a three year gap. Which isn't actually as large as I remember: there had been two years gaps between each of the previous three albums, but this one will always feel longer to me because I didn't discover them until the OK Computer days. It was actually the first time I started paying attention to contemporary music; up until that point I'd payed recorder in school (as in, I was the nerdy one who could actually play and kind of enjoyed it, in a class of kids who had it forced upon them and didn't care, as was the done thing in British schools of the era), liked the idea of classical but didn't really love it, had a singular played to death Kraftwerk cassette (The Mix), and knew I didn't care for what I was hearing on radio or TV.
Kid A. What a rollercoaster. Does the opening track, Everything in its Right Place, contain a single acoustic instrument apart from Thom's voice? Again, I think they knew exactly what they were doing putting this one front & centre. It's synths, but it's not synth pop in any way, shape or form. These aren't the cheesy FM presets of the 80s. They were a medium different from the guitars and drums that had come before, but the message is still unmistakably Radiated. To anyone who'd been paying attention, anyway: people fucking hated it. Even I didn't know what to make of it at first.
Then they doubled down a year later with Amnesiac, like a massive middle finger to all the haters who just wanted them to keep doing what they'd been doing.
Which, ironically, is exactly what they were doing: but what they'd been doing all along was growing and evolving, they just took a bigger step this time.
Years later people have come round; to Kid A, at least. But they took their time. Amnesiac still gets little love, but go back and give it another chance. Pyramid Song. Knives Out. Dollars and Cents. Even the meandering two-minute one guitar, one synth noodle that is Hunting Bears. It's not the monument people wanted, but I maintain that it IS a monument.
I could go on, but I won't. It's a shame that Radiohead as a band barely exist any more; they've all started various side projects, the gaps been albums are getting longer. A Moon Shaped Pool came out seven years ago. But sadly it makes sense, given that their whole thing was always about finding new ways to express themselves.

amnesiac
YES THIS IS I THINK MY FAVOURITE RADIOHEAD ALBUM HEHEH
best song - Pyramid Song and Knives Out Are Equally as good, like they are both some of the best songs in their respective styles for radiohead does this make sense? like Pyramid Song is one of their best doom-laden haunting piano with strings and soaring vocals and really poetic songs, knives out is one of their best multiple-guitars wow life sucks people are terrible songs.
favourite song - Packt Like Sardines In a Crushd Tin Box. from the first time i heard this i just loved it - 'after years of waiting nothing came / and you realize you're looking in / looking in the wrong place / i'm a reasonable man get off my case' like DAMN, also i love the way it sounds - i did once hear a car go over a metal drain cover that sounded EXACTKY like the opening metallic noises it was cool, i just love the way it sounds it's super cool it's my favourite yes.
least favourite song - i think this one's pretty common, but pull/pulk revolving doors just doesn't have it, HOWEVER the pull/pulk true love waits version from kid a mnesiac is actually so so cool and i really love that. personally think they should have released it like that, but just my opinion. i didn't like dollars and cents for a while but i do like it now.
overrated song - knives out gets all the hype for amnesiac, and it is really really good i'm just sad it overshadows the rest of the album. also my soul crumples a bit every time i properly consider how it took them to record it.
underrated song - honestly, i think the second half just doesn't get enough love in general, but Like Spinning Plates is actually so cool, and the first time i heard Life in a Glasshouse i had to listen to it like nine times in a row because it's just that good.
banger of all bangers - I Might Be Wrong is kind of a banger, i mean amnesiac sort of doesn't quite have the 'banger' energy to it though. I can play pyramid song badly on piano so imo that's a banger just cos of that, every time i see a piano it's like 'okay guys pyramid song time' hehe.
out of ten - like a nine? it's weird cos even though it has pull pulk (which is one of the few radiohead songs i actually don't like) and dollars and cents which is just kind of mid, the songs i do really like on amnesiac (pyramid song, packt like sardines, i might be wrong, life in a glass house) i Really Really Really Like. who i am kidding i love them so much. like even though it has a not very good one the amazingness of the others outweigh it. it's my favourite radiohead album, probably, such vibes, such atmosphere, fricken love amnesiac
#thank you so much for the ask!#i love this album so much hehe#if anyone wants me to do this for other radiohead albums i will happily do that :D#also this was such a mysterious looking ask#just an anon saying 'amnesiac' with no context#hehe very cool#amnesiac

what i'm listening to 1/5/2023 (song notes under cut)
spot. link//yt link
Laura Les - Haunted: haunted. by laura les.
Radiohead - Packt Like Sardines In a Crushd Tin Box: i literally could have just put all of amnesiac in here but that would exceed the number of tracks i allow myself to put in any given WILT. just know that this is one of my new favorite songs of all time and i've been listening to the album on repeat for about a month
The Cure - Charlotte Sometimes: when i found out that the cure had a song with my name in it, i knew i had to listen to it forever and ever regardless of how good it was. thankfully, it is actually a pretty damn good song. i've been wanting to get my hands on the book it's based upon as well, but that's still a work in progress.
Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia: this is the other album i've been listening to nonstop for the past month. as i mentioned in the last WILT, i didn't love this record when it came out, but upon a relisten i've been obsessed with it. this is also where the theme of this month becomes glaringly obvious - it's been a lottt of post-punk for me recently. just the winter mood i guess
Nirvana - Marigold: really great b-side from dave. i'm not as familiar with the in utero era in general but i feel like this song is indicative that dave was always going to break off and do his own thing, even if things had gone better than they did. sort of comforting to think about, i think
Wham! - Last Christmas: i listened to A Lot of christmas music throughout december, for various reasons and occasions. this song, though, is special. even though christmas is right in the title, it feels like such a real song. the holiday is almost incidental in what it actually is trying to be about. for these reasons, i have decided that i genuinely like this song as an any-time-of-the-year listen
Fontaines D.C. - In ár gCroíthe go deo: SUCH a good opening track... i also just love that they start the album off with some irish language lyrics. it lets you know right away that the record is going full dive into its subject matter. plus, as some of you know, i've been learning irish for a couple of years now, so it's cool for me to get some further experience by listening to music in the language. god i could talk about this album forever. i sure hope i'll get another chance to do that later on
Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It): obligatory nu metal song. i've been watching the music video for this one a lot, it's a good video. in general, i've been getting into deftones a lot more recently than i had been for a long time. i'm also putting a live cover that linkin park did, which is a good cover but i think it's funny (in an odd way) that they don't do the "shove it, shove it, shove it" parts. like i guess they were trying to get the crowd to do that, but i feel like mike could have shouted it a couple of times to demonstrate what they were meant to be doing. idk lmao
Pink Floyd - Welcome to the Machine: i've been listening to a lot of pink floyd as well, especially since i've been going through the top albums list on rateyourmusic. there's a ton of great stuff, i really like the band, but this song is one of my favorites. as demonstrated by my "synthetic solution" tag, i really like allegories that involve machines and stuff like that, so this fits right with me
Kurt Cobain - Burn The Rain: weird little demo. i haven't listened to much of the montage of heck recordings but it's always interesting to hear kurt so unfiltered. the dialogue at the end of this one is curious too; he sounds so... unguarded. i am normal about these things
Radiohead - Knives Out: men will see a mouse and be like is anyone else gonna eat this and not wait for an answer
Fontaines D.C. - Nabokov: oh good, my other chance to gush about this record! this is a great closer on top of everything else... plus it's one last chance for the harmonies and backing vocals to really shine. seriously, if you're into post-punk or alternative stuff at all, give this album a shot, it is golden stuff
Bauhaus - A God in an Alcove: yet more post-punk! i've been enjoying this album a lot too. something about this song in particular just feels so unnerving, like trying to squeeze through a space that you aren't certain you can fit through. maybe that's just the junji ito i've been reading this month too
Tems - Higher: i'm all in on the tems train. she's such a great performer, and the live version on the youtube playlist is definitely worth checking out. this is a great ep, very soulful, and although my favorite track might actually be ice t, higher is definitely the one that rolls around in my head most frequently. honestly just listen to the whole thing. i'm not even usually a big r&b fan and i'm rocking with it big time
Radiohead - Life In a Glasshouse: one last spot for amnesiac. it feels only fair, after skinty fia got three spots too. speaking of great album closers, this is another. i lovelovelove the inclusion of jazz influence into. well, into most things, but especially when radiohead does it. the chorus almost feels brutal, in a way, like being still in a room but with every single muscle tensed
Radiohead - Reckoner: does this count as cheating? this feels like cheating somehow. well anyway, in rainbows is also a really good record, and this song felt incredibly familiar somehow. i can't think of any context in which i would have possibly heard this song before, as it hasn't been my impression that this was like some big hit for them or anything. in any case, that feeling makes me want to keep coming back to it again and again
Looking Glass - Brandy (You're a Fine Girl): here's a little change of pace from all the alternative. looking glass were one of those unremarkable bar band one-hit wonders who wrote a really good pop song and then immediately slipped through the cracks of history. i listened to this album and found it mostly unremarkable, though i did also enjoy the song "from stanton station." not much else to say, it's just a pretty damn good pop song
R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World As We Know It: i don't need to explain this song, i imagine you all know it. however. next time you listen to it, pay attention to the backing vocals on the chorus. that's what's been keeping the song on loop for me. there's a unique catharsis to the repetition of "it's time i had some time alone"
Pizza Kids - We Like Pizza: thanks kiwi
youtube
as a side note, the full version of this song is almost funnier during the second half because it literally sounds like it's being arranged and mixed in real time by someone who has no idea what they're doing or how much longer the song is going to keep going

Radiohead rankings: A playlist from my twin <3
@joey-smacker
9/10 | Jigsaw Falling into Place — As soon as it played, I felt that it was a banger; It shocked me.
8.5/10 | 2 + 2 = 5 — It’s decent, but I wouldn’t say it has any remarkable sounds that make me go WOW.
7.5/10 | Myxomatosis I like that the song is calming, but again nothing too remarkable; the lyrics make up for it, though.
7.5/10 | My Iron Lung — I’m not sure. I sort of spaced out through most of it, but rest assured that I was still listening! I do like that spaced out feeling though, and it was nice having it play in the background.
10/10 | Permanent Daylight — The intro reminded me of The Sims, for some reason. I like the tune of this one.
10/10 | Weird Fishes / Arpeggi (From the Basement) — The drums… I like the drums.
8/10 | Street Spirit (Fade Out) — I don’t have any strong feelings about this song, but Thom sounded good and so did the guitars. + They both looked dapper, in my opinion. :)
69/10 | Pyramid Song — At first, it didn’t seem too promising to me. But listening to it made me realize that I actually like the slow, solemn tune.
9/10 | Everything In Its Right Place — It is nice. I find the distorted audio to be unique. The lyrics made me feel down.
6.5/10 | I Might Be Wrong — I am not sure what to say about it. It isn’t bad; it’s decent, I’d say.
10/10 | No Surprises — Yes, Yes, I know it’s basic and one of their popular ones. But it is the only one I had ever liked—until now it seems. I don’t listen to this song often, if at all, but when I first listened to it, I liked it.
10/10 | Talk Show Host — I agree heavy with the lyrics. Yes.
6/10 | Pearly — It’s a meh for me.
5/10 | You And Whose Army? — I am not a big fan of this one.
6/10 | Knives Out — I don’t know; I don’t really have any comments for this.
6/10 | How to Disappear Completely
6.5/10 | Optimistic
6/10 | In Limbo
420/10 | Idiotque — Perhaps it was because I was thinking about Gary, but this song reminds me of him. I dunno.
6/10 | Where I End and You Begin
7.6/10 | There, There
5/10 | Bodysnatchers
5/10 | Blow Out
5/10 | Gagging Order
5/10 | Airbag
7/10 | Subterranean Homesick Alien — I crushed the alien.
5.3/10 | Let Down — I like the sparkle, game-like sound at the very end of the song. That was nice.
3/10 | Fitter Happier — Very poor rating; I AM SORRY. But this kind of freaked me out. D:
5.5/10 | Climbing Up the Walls
Overall, I’d say the average is a six and eight. I definitely have songs added to my favorites now. Would I listen to Radiohead in my own time? Probably my newly acquired songs, yes, but I don’t think I will necessarily expand; Radio ain’t really my genre.

ok so emoji ask thing. for claire my Beloved. 🍩 donut 🌙 moon 🍁 maple leaf ✏️ pencil 🎵 music note 🌪️ tornado and 🌠 shooting star. i will not apologise for so many. i love this guy
claire. sweep.
🍩 DONUT - favourite sweet treat? he doesnt really have a huge sweet tooth but i think he likes like. pastries and stuff... also honey. get this guy some baklava
🌙 MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it? this is hard to answer... i think his "greatest wish" is justto have a reliable and loving family + to have the people around him safe. ive talked about that maintaining the life he builds for himself is the most important thing to him once he has it and that later in his story/past where it would end and later into his life his family + friends are his main focus. but before annies death her inclusion in his life is a large part of that as well even though his attempts to give her more chances and to allow her time to change were putting himself and the others in danger. so who can say...
🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why? probably... spring
✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them? eek not really... 😔😔😔
🎵 MUSIC NOTE - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them? my short and pitiful claire playlist...
knives out by radiohead too but thats on annies playlist... its relevant to both of them though. idk what kind of music he would listen to probably his taste would not be like whats on his playlist though. i really need to go through this again and sort it and find more songs to add i feel like its much weaker than my other oc playlists even if its longer than some (guy who struggles so so much to find oc music)
🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you've ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version? visually i dont think hes changed much... i dont draw him w makeup anymore and his hair is much thinner/straighter bc i feel it suits him better. character wise hes much less angry + hostile to others... especially after he has more of a support group. he originally was very abrasive and mean and that didnt change all that much as time went on and he is still not the friendliest or nicest person but its toned down a bit. this is a funny one to answer rn though bc i currently want to really overhaul my ocs and theres a few things about him i want to change up but im not quite sure how im gonna go about that yet
🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make? im taking this as much more fantastical than the other wish question. i think it depends when u asked him this... when he is with the fosters it would just be to be gone. through a lot of the story and for a while after her death it would be for annie to come around and listen to what he has to say... and of course what i said earlier
#answered asks#claire#my ocs#as u may gather from the playlist a lot of his character + mindset is just. denial and refusal to accept the truth#about things that he doesnt want to be true. hes very stubborn and its why it takes so long for the actual confrontation between him and#annie to happen

On Radiohead
I listened to the entire Radiohead discography yesterday because I figured it was about time I gave them a proper second chance and I want to flesh out my Rate Your Music.
Here are my thoughts on each album (:
Pablo Honey - Rating: 1.5/5 The fact that I even have to discuss this album pisses me off. I Do Not Like Pablo Honey is the most succinct way I can put how I feel about this album. It wants to be Nevermind era Nirvana so bad in the first half and then it just loses the plot in the second half. The only song I like on this album, it's opening track "You", I only like because it sounds like a typical wannabe Nirvana grunge song. "Creep" is terrible and the whole band is right to hate it. "Anyone Can Play Guitar" except Radiohead, I guess. Favorite tracks: You
The Bends - Rating: 2.5/5 I can see how this is a clear improvement from the atrocities committed on their debut album, but I still think it falls short of being. meaningful, I guess? However, it does have one of my favorite Radiohead tracks on it ("My Iron Lung". Why is that guitar so fuckin DIRTY I love it) so I will give it that. I feel it closes out strong with "Street Spirit (Fade Out)", but otherwise for the most part the album is largely just more forgettable grunge. Favorite tracks: Fake Plastic Tress, My Iron Lung, Street Spirit (Fade Out)
OK Computer - Rating: 4/5 I can see why this is largely regarded as one of, if not the (according to Rate Your Music lmfao), best albums of all time. However, it feels a bit too mechanical for my taste. The experimentalism that I'm looking for when it comes to Radiohead and their preceding reputation is there, but it feels unnatural and manufactured to me. Which I suppose fits with the album's name. Still fantastic, just not the vibe I'm particularly looking for. Favorite tracks: Karma Police, Lucky
Kid A - Rating: 4.5/5 God, I could gush about this album for a while. This is the album that makes me make a goofy "I Finally Get Radiohead" YouTube video. I've never been the biggest Radiohead fan, but this album really took my breath away. It's lonely, it's cold, it's desolate and bittersweet, full of ghosts. Favorite tracks: Everything In Its Right Place, How To Disappear Completely, Treefingers, Idioteque
Amnesiac - Rating: 3.5/5 I was told that Amnesiac is basically a compilation of stuff Thom didn't think fit with Kid A, and while I agree with that decision to separate the albums, I disagree with the seemingly pervasive fan belief that Amnesiac is bad because of it. It's a bit disjointed I suppose, but considering the source material, I don't think it detracts from the overall mood or enjoyment of the album. Imo Amnesiac is nearly as good as Kid A, which tracks cuz they're cut from the same cloth. Favorite tracks: Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box, Knives Out
Hail To The Thief - Rating: 4/5 This album is definitely leaning more into the electronic experimentation I really enjoyed on Kid A from Radiohead. It sounds very Autechre inspired, it makes me feel like Thom sat in on one too many Warp Records recording sessions and was like "Yeah I can do that too." and God DAMN can he. Supposedly the political messaging behind the lyrics leaves more to be desired but honestly Thom could say nearly anything over this instrumentation and I'd be fine with it. Favorite tracks: Myxomatosis, Scatterbrain, A Wolf at the Door
In Rainbows - Rating: 3.5/5 I had really high hopes for In Rainbows, especially seeing as many of the Radiohead fans around me really enjoy it. However, it ended up just leaving me wanting. It felt more like it was right on the edge of greatness like I did with OK Computer than as if it had achieved what it set out for like I felt with Kid A. Ultimately, I still really like the vibe of this overall album and it's tied with OK Computer as my second favorite Radiohead album. Favorite tracks: 15 Step, Nude, House of Cards
The King of Limbs - Rating: 3/5 I really didn't feel very strongly about this album. For the most part it felt forgettable and middle of the road to me except for Bloom. I loved how the percussion in Bloom sounds like it's falling down the stairs on an alien planet with the synth in the background. I wish I had more to say about this album but I think I'll give it more time and return to it at a later date and reassess. Favorite tracks: Bloom, Feral
A Moon Shaped Pool - Rating: 3/5 I'll just come right out and say it - something about this album scratches my brain really nice. It feels haunting but hopeful at the same time. Also very lonely. I think it's representative of Radiohead's overall sound. It feels much slower than I'm used to from their previous albums but I appreciate Thom showing us all that he can slow down and still put out good music. I'm interested in seeing how their sound evolves from here and I hope this isn't the last we hear from Radiohead. Favorite tracks: Burn The Witch, Daydreaming, Ful Stop
All in all I had a great time listening to this discography and I'm glad I did so I can form my own opinion on "one of the greatest bands of all time". I learned I like Radiohead a lot more than I previously believed in the course of all of this.
Lastly, I leave you with 2 things:
Listen to Autechre, it's what Thom Yorke would want
Radiohead should make a funk album
