Just got back online from a power outage and ate something that made me feel like I was going to be sick :( Could I request a prompt? | Genji comes back from a rough mission, but Mercy isn’t aware yet. His injuries aren’t bad enough that he needs to be hospitalized but he is shaken up (maybe from something that reminded him of a traumatic event or something personal was said to him, causing him to hesitate and get hurt). Genji comes back and Mercy sees his injuries. He is reluctant to talk.
Tumblr media
I love edgy Blackwatch Genji, and that first prompt has edgy Blackwatch Genji written all over it.
-----
“Honestly, Shimada, you’re being a child,” Moira was stooping over him on the dropship as he winced away from the ‘healing’ hand of her biotic rig. For all intents and purposes, the mission was a success, but after that Null Sector virus had caused his prosthetics to seize up, Genji had had more than enough people poking at his patchwork monstrosity of a body for one night.
“I said I’m fine,” muttered Genji.
Moira  braced a long-fingered hand on his shoulder to steady herself as the dropship shook with turbulence, the contact making Genji’s whole body tense. “You’re literally bleedi--”
“Moira,” Reyes’ voice was tired, “He said he’s good.”
Moira’s eyes flicked over to Reyes. He and McCree were in their respective dropship seats, all strapped in. Reyes was giving Moira a long quiet look that made Genji feel even more like a child. McCree’s hat was over his eyes, sleep already overtaking him, otherwise he would have been the first to get Moira to back off.
“You know what? Fine,” said Moira, withdrawing her hands, “If you want to play the wounded puppy for Doctor Ziegler, don’t let me get in your way. God forbid anyone on this team is practical.”
“I’m not playing---” Genji’s shoulder’s bunched up with fury, but he caught himself. Moira’s eyes were back on him. Prying. Dissecting. Ready to take anything he said, synthesize it with everything she already knew about him, and throw it right back at him. He knew there was only so much you could engage with Moira, he knew that. He looked to his organic hand, twitching, shaking, and clenched it into a fist, pressing it against the metal of his prosthetic knee.
“We’re all tired. We’re all tense. Maybe we should take a note from McCree for once and just settle down until we get to headquarters,” said Reyes.
Genji huffed, his breath pressing against his skin underneath his metal faceplate. Moira gave Reyes a placid look that made Genji’s blood boil more.
“Of course,” said Moira, slumping back into her seat on the dropship. She gave Genji a mocking smile, “What’s one more scar for our guardian angel to kiss better?” Genji felt his ears burning but then glanced off, furiously. He sullenly brushed the blood out of his eyebrow.
“Moira,” Reyes’ voice was flatter.
“I know, I know,” Moira gave a dismissive hand wave before settling into her seat and strapping in. She wasn’t looking at Genji but he could see the tugs at the corners of her mouth that told him, ‘It is all too easy to get a rise out of you.’ He simmered back into his own seat and turned his attention to the window. There was only blackness outside the dropship, and the reddish interior lights made the glass show his reflection, and he couldn’t look at that for more than a few seconds. He folded his arms tight across himself, gave one final scan across the dropship before settling in for the long ride.
----
The next few nights in Zurich Genji dreamed of coming apart the way you dream of your teeth falling out. No pain, no more than the usual phantom limb sensations, but a horrifying awareness, the sensation of gaps widening within you before they come loose. He avoided Mercy’s office and the medical labs. He knew it was stupid, and he knew Moira wouldn’t know, and he knew he was probably playing right into Moira’s sick little games by dwelling on it that much, but at the same time, he couldn’t stand the idea of proving her right.
Right about what? That you trust Doctor Ziegler more than her? he thought angrily to himself he briskly walked through the hallways of Headquarters,  That’s just common sense.
What’s one more scar for our guardian angel to kiss better? He could hear the smirk in Moira’s voice in his head and some mix of fury and embarrassment prickled along his scarred skin as he stepped into a lift.
We just talk, that’s all, She’s nice to listen to. he thought as the doors opened to a world of white, blue, and steel. He stretched his arms above his head and leaned into a side stretch, And she listens to me. And she’s funny. he circled his arms in their sockets and circled the ankles of his prosthetic feet. I’m not stupid. I know nothing’s going to come of it, he thought as he headed to the primary monitor for the course and customized the training field to a handful of various obstacles--some moving platforms, a few sleek walls to scale, some columns to rebound between, some non-lethal pulsefire turrets, I know what I look like.
Normally he would be using Ryū Ichimonji to tear through a slew of training bots, but the Null Sector mission had put him off slicing through robots at least for a while. Maybe he could spar with Sojourn or McCree later, but for now, he just wanted to feel the wind rush past him. Drawing only his short tanto, he broke into a sprint, deflecting shots from the turrets, before running along a wall and rebounding off or it, springing on the fingertips of his prosthetic arm. Sometimes, when he ran fast enough, he could focus just on the sensation of his heart pumping, pull his mind away from the wires coursing over his body and the way his feet making contact with the ground didn’t course up his legs in the right way. Just focus on the heart, just focus on the breath. So much of his training with the Shimada clan was focused on total body consciousness, awareness of every breath, every muscle, all of that training was a curse with his new body. But he could run, he could climb, he could bound off of walls, he could leap and flip through the air, nimbly pace along narrow railings, lose himself in the rush of the wind.
  Flow like water.
He managed to deflect the pulsefire back to the turrets to shut them down, scaled and rebounded off of a few more walls, lost himself in the motions, lost all sense of time, raced back to the beginning of the course, and did it again. And again. And again. And again. Climb and leap and deflect and climb and run and run and run and maybe the fury and the pain won’t catch up with you. He pushed himself to that heart-pumping point where even his prosthetics were shaking with exhaustion. He could smell the metallic intermingling of his own sweat and his prosthetics even under his faceplate. Almost in defiance of those physical limits, he scaled one of the observation buildings bordering the training grounds and perched on the roof there, to catch his breath, feeling the cold alpine air on his skin. He flopped back against the roof to stare up at the open blue bowl of the sky, fringed with little wisps of mare’s tail clouds breezing off of the snowcapped mountains. He closed his eyes for a brief few minutes, focusing on his own breath and heartbeat, before a sharp, unnatural sound prompted his eyes to flick open. A shing sound, almost like a blade being drawn but not quite, more ringing, more sustained, before it faded into the sound of the wind. He pushed up from the roof to a sitting position, and scanned around. Someone else using the training field? He glanced down at his custom obstacle course, still untouched, and a couple of lazy training bots drifting around. His red eyes narrowed skeptically before shing-woosh! That sound whipped overhead and he glanced sharply upward.
The wings were the first thing he made out. Blazing yellow feather-like constructs of light on white frames, the sun shining through them making him squint against the blue of the sky. It took him several esconds made out the figure attached to them. Donning goggles and what appeared to be a modified version of their orange and gray training jumpsuits, Mercy had her hair tied back in its usual voluminous ponytail, but now flailing like a flame in the wind, but didn’t notice him as she rushed overhead, banked sharply left, then shot upward. He was so used to seeing her slumped down in that chair in her lab that even despite their whole exchange over the poster and the fact that she was Mercy, despite her offhandedly mentioning this mission or that during their late night lab chats, this sight and the fact that indeed, she was an agent of Overwatch with all that entailed sank into him. She was Mercy. She could fly. She swooped in and rescued people--probably not as glamorously as all the propaganda made out, but she actually did that. Was this the first time he was seeing her fly outside of all the posters and videos? He felt a little embarrassed that it was taking this long for these facets of her to sink in, but then again, he knew his own anger was clouding his mind, constantly turning it back to the Shimada clan, to Hanzo. He watched as she burst out from a cloudbank, hair wet, wings still blazing, streams of vapor from the cloud trailing behind on her wingtips like wake.
Our guardian angel, Moira’s voice echoed in his head again, but no, that didn’t seem right. Maybe the Mercy on the poster was a ‘guardian angel,’ but watching Angela Ziegler felt like something sharper, more powerful, more self-possessed. There was grace in her movements, though. He wondered if, in the development of the Valkyrie suit, they had told her how to hold out her arms, how to hold out her legs, tensed and streamlined, halfway between swimmer and dancer, her entire body curving into her turns, or if, because she was the one the valkyrie suit had been developed for, this was all her. She shot upward again and stupidly his eyes followed her until he found himself looking directly at a dazzling white sun, and he winced and looked away. He blinked the spots out of his eyes and quietly cursed himself, and some stupid, juvenile part of him was mad at her--and he knew it clearly wasn’t any ill intent on her part but at the same time a bitter voice in his head surmised his frustrations as ‘How dare you come here specifically when I am trying not to think about you.’ But then that thought was immediately wiped away as he saw a shape drop out of the clouds. Gray jumpsuit. White wingframes--no yellow glow. Panic flooded his chest. Had something gone wrong with her wings? He looked at the edge of the roof he was on. She was clearly too far away for him to intercept in her descent if he leapt off for her. His stomach tied up in knots, and he felt the cold of his own prosthetics sinking throughout his body. But he could hear no scream on the wind and he squinted at the plummeting Mercy. Her back was toward the ground and her arms were tucked over her chest in an X, almost like she was hugging herself, her long legs trailed skyward as she dropped, then easily, with that dancer-swimmer’s grace, she twisted in mid-air, righting her back towards the sun again, and swinging her legs down toward the earth as those bright feathery lights sprang out from her wingframes again. She caught herself, glided, almost lazily now, towards another section of the training area. Where he saw Liao and Torbjörn waiting. He felt his ears burning again. None of them seemed to notice them as Mercy made a jogging contact with the ground and trotted over to them, but a certain shame caught in the pit of his gut that he had been so caught up in watching Mercy’s flight that he hadn’t even seen them come in. Liao seemed to be taking rapid notes on her tablet as Mercy spoke, and Torbjörn was talking and pointing at her wings and harness. Genji decided to leave the training ground before any of them caught sight of him. He didn’t really like the idea of sneaking off like that, but he didn’t really want to explain that he had been spending the past... however long staring at Mercy either.
He managed to make it out of the training grounds pretty much unseen, but she caught him in the hallways only a few minutes later.
“Genji?”
He startled slightly and glanced over his shoulder at her. He had been counting on her showering, cleaning up in the lockers, or something like that, but she was still in the jumpsuit. The sunlight was streaming on her sideways through the hallway window. Her hair was still wind-tossed, her skin flushed, and her goggles were pushed up on her forehead. He said, “Oh--hello, Doctor Ziegler,” while quickly trying to think of a thing he had just been doing that was not being on the training course.
“I thought I saw you on the training course!” she still sounded breathless from her flight.
Shit, he thought.
“Um... yes... just... doing some post-training meditation,” said Genji, itching at his hair.
“I should get on roofs more often. You think I’d have the idea with these things,” she gestured with a thumb back to her wings as she did that brisk, doctorly walk of hers up to him, “But all I know with them is banging them on doorways.”
Genji chuckled a little at the image, but something softened in Mercy’s face that put him on guard.
“It’s good to see you, Genji. I’ve barely heard from you since that last Blackwatch mission, I was getting worried.”
“Worried?”
“McCree said it got pretty close,” she said folding her arms, “I--” she perked up and her brow crinkled as she looked at his face.
“What?” said Genji.
She brought her hand up and instinctively he leaned back, the exhaustion of the mission, that wariness from the dropship and Moira’s words still burning in his mind, but rather than reach out to him she touched her eyebrow in that same spot where he now had a scab on his own brow. “This is new,” she said.
“Mm,” he folded his arms, glancing off, “It’s nothing.”
Her shoulders slumped as her hand dropped from her brow, “Lucky shot?” she offered.
“Huh?” Genji’s eyes flicked back to her.
Mercy snorted a little, “It’s just... something McCree always said whenever he wound back in the infirmary. ‘It was a lucky shot,’ ‘Cheap shot,’ ‘not a fair fight,’ things like that...”
“It... wasn’t a fair fight,” Genji allowed, and something shifted in Mercy’s expression. That gentle, searching face that told him she wanted to help him but needed to know more. And he wanted to let her in but at the same time it felt like reopening wounds. Wounds he couldn’t put on her in good conscience.  “I’ll be fine,” he added stiffly, “Still getting used to Overwatch missions. It’s not like the Shimada clan where...” he trailed off.
A pause passed between them.
“You get used to them,” said Mercy, “And from what I’ve heard from Jack, Reyes says you’re already doing well so---” her comm beeped and she checked it and sighed a little. “Ach.. Liao needs more follow-up. I need to get out to the training field. Why an AI expert is getting so fixated on flight systems... I’m a little scared to ask...”
“You should get going,” said Genji with a nod and a shrug.
She smiled a little, but that searching look didn’t leave her eyes. She turned to walk off but paused, “Well... if you’re up for it, I’m still making too much coffee down in the lab after hours,” she glanced down, smiling, “I wouldn’t mind some help with that.”
A soft, near-chuckling huff escaped him. “...I’d like that,” he said. She gave him a nod and walked off. The wing frames bobbed behind her slightly with her steps and as he watched her walk off, he felt some lingering relief coupled with and indescribable ache. There was a bit of victory in the idea that Moira was wrong, that he wasn’t playing wounded puppy, that simply Angela was someone he trusted and enjoyed spending time with, with no hope of anything else. He had no delusions of hope of anything else. That was what Moira didn’t understand about him.
We just talk, Genji thought again, watching Mercy walk off, That’s all.

!!!TRIGGER WARNING!!! Overwatch Reactions: The Support Squad Find Out That Their S/O Is A Cutter
A/N: I DO NOT ENDORSE SELF-HARM! If you or someone you know is suffering from suicidal thoughts and/or tendencies, please seek the help of a medical professional. There are plenty of resources out there for you that are willing to listen, because you are alive for a reason and you'd miss out on so much if you weren't here, your purpose wouldn't be filled and those who love you would be heartbroken without you. If you or someone you love is having a mental health crisis, look up and call your local or national suicide hotline or 911. Because as long as you wake up breathing, you are alive for a reason. You are loved.
ANA
Her momma instincts would kick in IMMEDIATELY. She'd press for you to tell her where those scars on your wrists came from. And you're not going anywhere until you tell momma what happened, because she has that serious iron grip on you that all mothers use on their children when they KNOW something isn't right. When you finally admit to her that you inflicted those wounds upon yourself, her heart would break. The first thing she'd wonder is if it was her fault you decided to do this. She'd hold your hands, and let you cry into her shoulder, reminding you again and again how much she loves you and assuring you that she will find you the proper help so that you won't feel the urge to hurt yourself on purpose anymore. She'd do EVERYTHING in her power to keep the environment around you a low-stress one, sending you to work with various teas that had a calming effect on you when you drank them, rocking you to sleep at night and endlessly reminding you she loves you no matter what. Ana would watch you like a hawk, taking it upon herself to make sure you never felt like hurting yourself in such a manner ever again.
BAPTISTE
Discovering that you feel the need to harm yourself absolutely shatters his heart. When he looks at you, he sees his whole world, the treasure of the universe, perfection incarnate, a masterpiece of the gods themselves. He wouldn't at all understand why and how you could hate yourself this way. Despite the fact that this new discovery absolutely killed him inside, he wouldn't let it stop him from getting you the proper assistance, working night and day with little to no sleep to find you all sorts of new outlets and resources so that you could let your stress out safely. He'd begin spending literally all his time on you, halting at nothing to make sure you were beginning to understand that hurting yourself gave you no benefit, rewarding you at the end of every day with kisses and a hot bath, maybe even something more if you asked. Baptiste has no trouble at all giving his heart and soul for you, since you are his everything, and he won't rest until he's got that fact embossed into your mind, hoping you will turn to that instead of ever hurting yourself ever again.
LÚCIO
Our precious frog DJ would immediately blame himself for your self-destructive behavior, being he wasn't around much due to his hectic schedule as an international celebrity. Upon hearing from a friend that you had begun cutting yourself, Lúcio would drop everything and rush home to you. He'd cancel all his shows, interviews, everything, just to spend time with you. And he wasn't going anywhere until he was absolutely sure you had stopped the cutting. He'd bring you to the doctor ASAP, holding your hand at each and every appointment as you worked to end the cycle of thinking that had been leading you to these harmful acts upon yourself. And in the middle of it all, Lúcio would spoil you rotten with love. Gifts, cute dates, anything to remind you he still cared even if he couldn't be at your side. He'd start having you come with him on tour, making sure to dedicate time to you even on his busiest days.
MERCY
Mercy has seen everything, so you wouldn't expect her to have a very big reaction to your wounds. But, you're special to her, and when she discovers you cutting your wrists over the kitchen sink in an attempt to cure yourself of a bad case of depression, she would break down sobbing, pulling you into her arms and hurriedly bandaging your freshly made wounds, begging you to promise her that you'd never do this ever again. Mercy had already lost her parents, she wasn't going to lose you, too, and certainly not to the demon known as depression, the one she already battled herself day and night under the weight of wanting to save every life placed in her hands. But in this moment she would forget about every single one of her patients. Your life is the one that matters to her the most, and she wasn't going to let you throw it away so easily. Mercy would follow you everywhere after this, scared that you would relapse of she turned her back for even a second. She would become your 24/7 guardian angel, holding you at night as she prayed for your condition to better.
MOIRA
Of course, we wouldn't expect this villian to care too much about people hurting themselves, right? Wrong. Moira knows how you feel, especially after she did the same thing to herself years ago. Because of what it had cost her, even though she had adapted to the consequences, she couldn't dare to wish it upon another, not for all the secrets of science in the world to be revealed to her. Moira would sit beside you, brushing her healing hand gently over your cuts and asking you why on Earth you'd think that this was a good solution to your problems. She'd hold you, let you cry and vent, and after you got all your troubles out of your system for now, Moira would promise you that you are certainly not alone in your struggle. She'd begin spending a lot more time with you, convincing you to practice safe stress relievers such as deep breathing or playing with a sensory toy. She'd even reel in the other Talon members, asking them to be extra nice to you, and if they didn't live up to her expectations, they were involuntary subject to having rabbit blood injected into their spine. Moira would want nothing but for you to understand that you're not at all alone and that she is willing to listen to you when you need it.
BRIGITTE
Brig would be a little mad at first, wondering why on Earth you hadn't come to her sooner about your mental health before it had turned into this. Confused and afraid for you, Brigitte would go to Mercy and ask her for a hand in getting you onto the road to recovery. After getting a grip on the situation and helping you get a game plan set to help yourself get better again, Brigitte would be the most supportive person in your life then, rewarding you every time you went a certain period of time without cutting. She'd help you set healthy and attainable goals, keeping you active and busy so you could have something on your mind aside from your struggle. She'd endlessly text you words of affirmation, and taught herself to read you like a book so she could tell when you were stressed even if you didn't tell her. Brigitte would be more than happy to listen to you when you were willing to discuss your thoughts, and if you didn't feel like talking, she wouldn't pry, but instead have you do some deep breathing before recommending the two of you do something productive to keep your mind in a stable place. She'd even let you take one of her cats to work with you so you could have something familiar to you to help you keep calm.
ZENYATTA
Zenyatta might not understand human emotions as much as he'd like to, but he'd give it his all to learn about how you were feeling and understand why you felt so bad about yourself to the point that you felt you needed to cut. He would encourage you to talk about your feelings and he would listen, or if you weren't sure how to talk about your thoughts, he would gladly guide you in meditation that almost always whisked those nasty emotions away. He just felt bad when he couldn't help you much, and in those moments, he would instead hold you calmly, embracing you so lovingly to make sure you knew he was there. Even if your sweat and tears were putting rust on his shoulders, Zenyatta wouldn't let anything stand in the way of his journey to understand you and walk you away from your pain.
LOVE YOURSELF. ❤ Sincerely, Mod Rez ❤

Cold Breeze—Sunday Chats (11-19-17)
Another week, another Sunday
It’s been a long week for me. Not in actuality, because I’ve slept an average of 10 hours a day every day this week, which is both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because I’ve been sleeping crazy well. It’s bad because it reminds me of my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, of my sometimes inability to drag myself out of bed to do anything. It’s also a common habit I fall into when I know I’m depressed, and while I push back as much as I can against that overwhelming feeling, it’s still there. Ever-present. And it sucks.
It helps to know that the ExtraLife team, now disbanded, is definitely full of the melancholy. We all miss each other. Some more than others, assuredly, but there is just so much love an affection there. I think taking that step back in the aftermath of ExtraLife, the distance, the pride fills me more because of the tight bonds that were just driven home over that week.
It’s full on Persona-style bonds. Maxed social link meters and unbreakable relationships that serve as tentpole and standing memories and gifts that we all cherish, equally. It’s a comforting feeling, in the sad/loneliness.
But I digress.
It’s been very good for games! And I’ve sunk my teeth into some big ones this week.
What’s On Tap
Assassin’s Creed Origins
This is the really big one. I’ve spent about 25-ish hours with this title this week.
I love this game, which is super surprising. I wrote a big long thing about all the wild changes they made on this blog, so I’ll refrain from repeating myself here.
One thing I really love in this game is Bayek, the main character. The relationship with him and his wife Aya is just so good. They just fucking love each other so much and its disgusting but sweet and kind of nice. it’s this central bond that the plot swirls around and it’s really strong, unlike other AC games.
I also think the side quest quality in this game is remarkable. It reminds me a ton of The Witcher 3. While I don’t think the voice acting is quite up to that same par, it’s astoundingly excellent.
I dont’ have many complaints about this game. I really just adore it. And I’m thankful to my friends Barrett and Youssef for recommending it.
Destiny 2
I’ve only been playing a bit here and there, with another playdate with Tony and Greg tonight. It’s been fun playing the game again though, and I’ve excited for the new content coming early next month.
Overwatch
I just wrapped up playing some Overwatch just now, trying out Moira.
Moira is excellent. She is exactly what the healing team in Overwatch needed, a new on-the-ground healer. I feel like Ana is just not an effective healer at all, at least on console where aim and precision is not as strong.
What I love about Moira is that healing is a resource for her, she needs to tap into it, and if you run out, you can’t heal anymore. It means you need to use her primary energy drain weapon, get out there, and be aggressive in order to be able to support your team.
It’s a lot like Doomfist’s shield, which he generates for using his abilities on enemies, and it requires him to use his skillset to then be a better and greater asset to his team.
Moira also heals herself with her attack, so she benefits herself and her own play style by being aggressive.
I really like her. She may take top spot as my primary healer, but I am also incredibly fond of Mercy’s new ultimate, so it’s a toss up. Much like all the many characters I play in Overwatch, it’ll depend on the situation.
Questions
Remember to look for my tweet on Sunday afternoons with the hashtag #SundayChats in it. Reply with your question, and you’re in here.
Let’s do this.
Tumblr media
On a personal leve, because I don’t think 2018 will hit the same highs for me, I want there to be more surprises. Again, this is for me, because I think there were huge hit surprises this year for folks like PUBG, but I just didn’t have quite so many hits.
On that note, I hope those surprises come from smaller, indie games. Like I think that was a collection of titles that got lost for me this year because of the stellar AAA games that took the spotlight, but those weird and nuanced and special indie games are some of the best experiences I live for, and I hope with more room in 2018 I’ll be able to get lost in them.
Tumblr media
Personally I just use the Twitter app on my phone, and I’m happy with it. Most folks I know swear by Tweetbot, but I’ve never really gotten to use it myself.
As for Desktop, it’s all about Tweetdeck. You can tweet from multiple accounts, and have just multiple timelines open it it. On mine I have a news story feed for games, my timeline, my mentions, my notifications, and then the IP notifications too. It’s the way to go, in my experience.
Tumblr media
It was the greatest thing I’ve ever been a part of for about a dozen different reasons.
I’m excited to be able to relive it in the archived videos.
Tumblr media
I’d love to visit Hyrule castle town either from Breath of the Wild or Twilight Princess. This is all pre-apocolypse, of course, but especially in BotW it seems like such an incredible and bustling place. I’d love to see the different peoples and cultures of that world melted together in that supreme beauty.
Another one is Hengsha from Deus Ex, because it’s the two-layer city, kind of like Midgar from FF7. I’d just love to see that in person. That’d be more of an architectural look, just to see that crazy design in person and up close.
Another would be Inaba from Persona 4. Just because that place is like a second home for me. I’d love to finally see it in person.
Tumblr media
Hrm, that’s tough. I have a lot that I just need to boot up and get through at this point, so it’s likely the ones that I just know I’m not going to get. A big one is Night in the Woods. I’m determined to make Edith Finch happen, but Night in the Woods seems like a really special game that I’m just not going to get to.
That list of indie games is depressingly long for me too. Pyre? Probably won't get to it and I want to play that so bad. Steamworld Dig 2? I may not get to that this year. I’ll definitely play it but probably just not this year, and that’s such a massive bummer for me since I loved the first one so much. The Housemarque games this year too, since I loved all the times I played them in preview settings.
I do still have some time, and I plan on getting through a few good things between now and the end of December. We’ll see what doesn’t make it.
Tumblr media
For me its a handful of titles that maybe Nabeshin has thrown out to me. I’d like to try Red Dead Redemption at some point. And 999. Those two are huge standouts, but outside of that, it’s hard for me to think of some franchise that I haven’t dipped my toes into at least a little bit with the given time.
I should probably play Tokyo Mirage Sessions someday but we’ll see. Still have it sealed in the plastic wrap.
Tumblr media
Man, this is so hard. Ideal is tough too, because maybe that implies I’ve been there?
The place I’ve always wanted to go my whole life is Ireland. Its the motherland right? It calls me back. That, and Japan. I’ve wanted to take the journey to the land of the rising sun since I was old enough to barely mutter JRPG. Those are the two places.
Let’s go.
Tumblr media
So, for context, I saw Justice League last night and... I really loved it? Like, I loved everything about it?? I feel crazy, like I’m Greg Miller defending Batman V. Superman??
But I think if I saw it again or I took the step back, I could totally see why people dislike it so vehemently. I was honestly shocked because it... well, it felt like Justice League to me. It felt like it was out of an entirely different DC Cinematic Universe. And maybe my expectations were so low? I don’t know.
But anywhere, there are going to be spoilers in my response here, because Liza deserves the best response I can muster for this, since we’re JL believers.
YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.
Boy when Superman shows up and is just straight up like, good, smiling, wise cracking Superman (again, a totally different character than he has been up until then, but I didn’t care because fuck I miss good Superman) I was just grinning ear to ear. They managed to tap into Henry Cavill’s charisma and make him shine as someone I could actually believe is Superman. And just seeing him work with a team and work with other heroes, like, that’s Man of Steel I know and fucking love, and they just nailed it in this movie. It made me so happy. You have no Idea. It’s like I’ve waited my whole life for that.
So yeah, he was my favorite, but I liked everyone! Any second Wonder Woman was on screen was perfect. They made Batman feel so much more like Batman here it was ridiculous. I liked Cyborg a lot, and I feel like they gave him a great arc from self hatred in the beginning to “wanting to live” in the end. Aquaman and Flash were just a ton of fun.
For me it’s just under Wonder Woman since I thought they just nailed Wonder Woman so well, but I really really loved it, as I’m sure you could tell. I was just a happy kid grinning that my heroes were finally on screen together, and it was rad.

Haha oh my god okay I don’t think I can pick ten different fingers, but I was thinking about this when I grabbed the question. Probably like, someone who’s fingers have powers, like Emperor Palatine or something? I guess Cole McGraff would be the real world video game equivalent, but someone who would let me shoot lightening out of my fingertips. If I could just choose one then one of theres and then the others from all the characters in Until Dawn.
Because why not

It’s fine.

Honestly, the lesson you shared with me Tyler has been a really great one. For folks curious, it’s about Mountain Tops. It’s a great analogy to the higher moments we find ourselves in in life.

That and one I’ve taken to heart over the last two or so years, which is just to listen, and to care, and to pay attention. You don’t need to interject your opinion in every controversial topic, and far too many people do. But that doesn’t exempt you from paying attention.

We don’t have anything concrete in the works, but we have a lot of ideas. I think PAX East is something to expect us at, and I think more written work in the future is something to anticipate soon too. Not more from who is there, but more and new voices. Exciting voices too, if we can muster it.

I’d totally be down to play Overwatch for 24 hours. I just love the loop of that game. I’d probably hate myself and it at around the 18 hour mark, but I think I could still muster it.
Least willing to do would probably be something best experienced in short bursts, like a Spelunky, or a Flint Hook, or a Cuphead, Some games require breaks and I think those fit into that fine. Doesn’t make them worse or bad by any means, but when you can walk away and come back better rested, those are good picks.
The Checklist
I have been essentially off reading stuff, but it’s worth shouting out a thing my best friend Jazz wrote today, about ExtraLife 2017.

She is getting into the writing of the content, and I’m excited to support her and see what she comes up with.
I am tired again, but excited to finish some things I’m working on.
Thanks for sticking with me, and for the unending support.
And for taking care of me.
Much love.
Keep it real.
