I have never seen or read Demon slayer (and tbh I don't really plan to). And I've also never even heard of the clones up until your blog, so my only knowledge and understanding of them is almost solely formed on your interpretation. You made me want these guys in ways that are concerning feminism. I can't even think about picking up the manga because if the canon is somehow different by your interpretation I fear I would feel as if the canon ones were ooc. sighs.. but tysm.. I try my best to make them in character as possible even if some qualities might irk you, but isn't that what makes them even more loveable? I hope I can bend the perception of more characters in due time.

Even if you did watch/read demon slayer, you wouldn't see these jerks until season thREE and EVEN THEN. SLAMS HEAD AGAINST THE WALL. WITH SO LITTLE SCREEN TIME. That's also probably why you haven't seen them around. they don't have much content or focus on their backstory, so the Fandom didn't get as attached. and I make it up with the scraps given.

holds your hands. I do recommend at least watching the scenes with the clones in the anime. their VAs did such a good job, I love both sub and dub. Sekido's grunts, Karaku's laughs, Urogi's laughs (and screeches), And Aizetsu's WAVERY VOICE all echo in my head constantly. I miss them.

absolutely love that lake is a crier. personally it's really cathartic but i also think it adds so much to their character. also the fact that lake is a kid who's barely even seen as a person if this kid wasn't a crier i'd think it was weird.

and we also don't see anything to suggest that they're ashamed of it. lake doesn't try to stop themself from crying they just let it happen.

Charles in season 2 (yes it's not going to happen but bear with me) is approached and offered heaven. Straight up. No uncertainty of "you might be given a tranquil eternity", no what-ifs about it. He's told "you are going to heaven if you move on. You will find eternal happiness." And he freaks out. He says "I'm going to heaven?" Because he can't imagine, with all of his anger in him, that he'd ever deserve that. Life hasn't ever been fair to him. It keeps taking everything he loves. Even his afterlife isn't fair to him.

But there it is. A guarantee. He was a good person. Now he can go to heaven. Despite everything he's done, he's earned eternal freedom. And there's Edwin, a foot away, maybe less. And he says, "Charles, you're going. I won't let you stay behind." And Charles can only stare. "What do you mean?" "I won't let you give this up for me, Charles. Heaven is waiting for you. Please, take it."

And Charles hesitates. Because he's never wanted an afterlife without Edwin in it. He can't imagine it. But it's so easy to be convicted when you can't see the other option. For Charles, he's always had a 'what-if'. He's never known what moving on really means for him.

Heaven vs earth should be an easy decision. And it is. Charles always knew what he was going to pick. He picks Edwin every time. "Charles, why do you keep giving things up for me? Please. Why wouldn't you go? How could you do something like this?"

"Because there's no heaven without you in it. Because I won't go anywhere you can't. Mate, it's not even a contest." Nothing else matters to Charles but Edwin. And he'll still choose Edwin every time. Over and over again. Because loving each other means choosing each other over and over and over again and Charles is built to love him, more than anything else in the world.

I am genuinely really enjoying seeing people who have clearly never read the Odyssey before reacting to EPIC's Ithaca saga. I haven't listened to EPIC myself (yet) but people keep saying stuff like "Odyseeus built their palace around an olive tree he carved into his and Penelope's marriage bed that's so symbolic" and "He really just murdered all the suitors wouldn't that piss off their parents?" Which are observations and questions that the Odyssey makes incredibly blatantly clear as to the symbolism or the answer because it's a really old poem and subtlety wasn't really Homer's strong suit.

There's something really endearing about seeing people interact with the Odyssey through the same way the Ancient Greeks did - a bard singing the story of Odyseus' nostos.

(I gather the details have changed a little, but that's what happens with oral storytelling, and that's how the Odyssey got created in the first place)

Also as congratulations have my favourite ancient depiction of Odysseus surfing with two amphemorae having stolen Poseidon's trident, being sped along by Boreas, stark naked except for a cloak he's holding onto.
