Summary

Link Mand'el Waræ, the young captain. Son of the head of the Hyrule port captaincy, link had his name marked in the history of the Hyrule navy for assuming the position of captain at the age of 19.

Because of his affiliation, many doubt his competence, believing that the position was given to him due to political corruption, but Link never lets himself be shaken by such rumors, always willing to prove that he is worthy of the captain position.

- Loves to tease his companions, especially when it comes to women

- He likes to maintain his appearance by always being tidy and formal (legend says it's narcissism...but it's just ocd due to his military position)

- He is proud, self-assured and may sound arrogant but is kind and has a good heart.

- Because of his pride, he doesn't like to be questioned especially when he is acting as captain, but he always pushes down and tries to be open-minded to different opinions.

One of my favourite small things about totk is because of the amount of traversal abilities link has, they can really afford to lean into the set design more.

Like, other games, you can only mimic crawling over rubble and squeezing through gaps. If you want to get in and out of a hole you need ivy to climb, or stairs, or some sort of transport mechanic. If you want a boss arena you need a clear, delineated space unless you specifically make the boss work with the environment.

In totk, you can be like 'screw it. Here's a 50m hole in the ground. Sheer walls. No floor that isn't malice. There's a boss that moves faster than you can run or climb. Have fun' and the players will be able to!

You don't need cleverly designed paths and suspension of disbelief switches and levers and ivy when you can straight up make the environment whatever you want and know the players will still be able to traverse it with a bit of elbow grease.

Heck, now you can make long, winding tunnels with dead ends and people don't have to backtrack! You can lay huge traps and not have to worry about how they'll make it out! Up through the ceiling they go!

A bridge can be actually broken. A wall can be actually collapsed. A door can be actually locked from the other side without some secret entrance. A floating island no one's ever been able to reach is now actually out of reach rather than just conveniently having a cannon unknowingly pointed directly at it lol.

In totk you can make your own way. It feels good to work through puzzles and move paths into place, but it also feels good to cackle and shoot yourself over a chasm with a handmade rocket you built earlier.

Fanfic prompt: Fable and Legend as twins

Legend and fable switch places because legend wants a vacation and fable can go deal with the political stuff

And the people of Hyrule know that when Zelda looks like she wants to become a dictator it probably is her sister and she is having a really really bad week and if it goes on longer than a month the whole kingdom is doomed and to prevent her from getting pissed at people breathing next to her the only thing you can do is pray for hylia that she only decides to throw a hissy fit and not go ruin your entire life (because Zelda knows way to much about everyone personally and she will use it against people)

The chain hears that Zelda has gone to a political meeting and her sister also named Zelda is taking charge and it is the most horrible time to have a conversation with her (or start a coup because last time Zelda nearly killed somebody) as the links enter because the guards are absolutely done with their lives and job and just decided to throw Zelda new victims

they enter the palace just to meet the saltiest most angry Zelda to ever reincarnate (tetra is pleasant in comparison to this Zelda )

Zelda looks at them and after explaining their mission she only gets angrier

This will end badly

No wonder the kingdom is in her charge when her sister is gone

Nobody would ever dare overthrow someone who has never heard of the words

I wanted to try designing alternate looks for these three since they only really have the ceremonial/formal princess robe. design notes under the cut:

Princess of Time

gender queer, obviously

blouse from her child look, over tunic from her adult.

sheik's armour bits from Super Smash Bros Brawl specifically because it felt like the most faithful interpretation

i'm headcanoning that her mother was Sheikah (and was best friends with Impa). If i drew her in the princess dress i'd keep the skin tone and red eye the same

is a bad ass ninja no matter the timeline

as The Sage Of Time when the timeline officially split TM, i think she might be vaguely aware of herself in all three timelines but doesn't understand what she's sensing. it gets stronger as the timelines split more and more and she doesn't really know what to do about it. like its something that she gets flashes of when she's like half asleep kind of thing

Princess of Warriors

easiest outfit for me to design, i will take any excuse to draw that style of coat

not much to say here, her style was already pretty unique so she could be on a battle field in the ceremonial regalia

no real sheik elements because that's firmly an OoT thing in my head, but the throwing knife holster was new so i kept that. plus she's the most battle ready at all times so they make sense

scars. she's proud of them

Princess of Twilight

alternate design idea would have been much more equestrian slash formal riding gear but it looked too modern when i tried it

I had to use Telma as my style reference because there are no other hylian women in that game - which is not a complaint, it's just interesting

the weird vein pattern from being puppeted by ganon and zant left faint scars

why yes, that IS Midna's cloak worn as a layer of skirt. there was a confusing love triangle in that game for sure and Link was not it's centre

she ended up weirdly tall even though i started on one file... sure, why not. tallest Zelda without heels

At first, I thought I wouldn't do the same outfit twice but the idea of Time in the beautiful white dress was too strong... so yet again I ended up doing both.
