since today is apparently Lindy Day, here’s some Quick Factz about her house. first, some Overarching Lindyisms and Introductory Info.

lindy lives in a townhouse or something adjacent, like one of these. i really feel like its exterior is rusty-red or light brown.

she feels nervous living in big houses, so her #Pad is probably pretty small ; or at least feels smaller than it is. the living room and her bedroom are probably the biggest rooms in the entire house. it’s not cramped, obv, but i know parties and gatherings at her place probably feel Intimate as a result.

i’m sure you saw this coming, but her house is VERY ~Eclectically~ decorated. 

she seems to be very Into antiquing and collecting art and Interesting stuff like brighid and margot, but hers tends to skew towards the Luxurious or Exotique-- and very often both. the artworks of tamara de lempicka ( !!!!!! ), hilma af klint, milena pavlović-barili and louise bourgeois are all De Rigeur in lindy’s Art Collection. 

she’s also really into strange and / or antique advertisements, like these ones. this one every dc hipster is obsessed with is her favourite. 

and unlike brighid, who tends to like Functional Beautiful stuff she could potentially use if she needed to, or margot, who likes Cutesy stuff with 700 bows, lindy’s Antiques collection skews ‘superficial and decorative.’ she tends to like stuff without any Practical Purpose, whether from being outdated, super weird, or too delicate. 

basically the range for all her decor is either ‘Chic And / Or Retro’ or ‘auctioned at christie’s and the str8 people there were too chicken to bid on it’ with some in between.

this is also a given, but her house is focking FULL of books. especially her living room and ‘’’’home’’’’ ‘’’’office.’’’’ there are tons of books EVERYWHERE. 

most of them ancient texts For Obvious reasons, but also LOTS of poetry, probably a good bit of shakespeare and uh. anne rice Tittie Vampire Erotica or some shite. sorry.

i think she jus plain collects Esoteric Lesbian Erotica. like ancient, antique, rare, banned or otherwise One-of-a-Kind lesbian romance books.

the most Present Colours are warmer, autumnal jewel tones-- darker purples, carrot-y oranges, olive green, most browns, deep red, gold and bronze / copper.

What do you based your music hc's for the Losers Club on? Richie, specifically? I love this stuff lol!

Fantastic question!!

Well, my music head-canons are based on the novel Losers Club mostly but they are signs in the mini series & movies.

How I kinda picked everyone’s taste up was from reading the novel, obviously lol, and I gathered each Losers music references/mentions and then combined this with their general tastes and personalities. (I hope this makes sense!)

I’ll just go loser by loser to explain, I guess!! I will link each characters Spotify playlist that I made as well!!

Starting with Stan, his big music tie-in is his wonderful Paul Anka impression!!! Oooof what a kid! Stan kinda strikes me as the kind of guy who would grow up listening to more stuff of that sort. He also grows to wear bell-bottoms…love that hippie fashion kid. SO for me, Stan’s always into those weird, pop 60′s stuff like ‘Diana’ by Paul Anka. He also was mentioned to have discussed Neil Sedaka with Eddie which is another artist that fits under this umbrella. Stan is a weird kid, so I always give him the weird songs. Stan has artists like Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, Herman’s Hermits, The Monkees etc. I will also stand by ‘Goodbye Cruel World’ by James Darren & ‘Happy Go-Lucky Me’ by Paul Evans being top Stan songs. Next is Mike, SO as of this moment, I can’t remember if Mike has any specific music references to him. BUT from reading about him and falling in love with his character, I gathered what I think is an accurate music taste. Mike strikes me as a folk, country/country rock kind of guy. I tend to give him artists like Bob Seger, Jim Croce, Eagles, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, etc. Artists that fall under that genre umbrella, y’know? Singer/Song-writers who sing about their lives with their whole soul. People with songs that really make you feel!!! I LOVE picking out his music because it’s so…emotional lol!! (His Playlist)

Moving on to Ben, I can pick out a music mention for Ben which comes from the chapter, ‘Ben Hanscom Takes a Fall’. In this scene he reflects on how he always thinks of Bev when he hears ‘Earth Angel’ by the Penguins. This kinda fuels the music vibe I got from him which is kinda romantic. He might be a little embarrassed by it but I think Ben gravitates towards romantic songs. I don’t think he particularly cares about artists, more so songs WHICH is why I think if any of the Losers were to listen to modern music, It’d be Ben. So with Ben, I’m more song focused. Songs about love, friendship and life. (His Playlist)

Now to Beverly, I tend to align Bev with Richie (who we’ll talk about last because he’s THE music man) so they enjoy the same bands but they usually have the opposite opinions on specific topics such as Beatles VS Stones. She’s more for stones. I also got the vibe that she generally just likes 50′s/60′s dance music. Take her appearance in ‘11/22/63′ for example where she’s teaching Richie to Lindy-hop to Glenn Miller’s ‘In The Mood’. The thing with Bev that makes it more difficult to combine each version of her to create a definitive taste is that book Bev is very different to movie Bev. (Her Playlist)

And now to Bill, he’s got some specific music tie-ins especially with the band: The Grateful Dead & has a poster of theirs. He also apparently gets maudlin when he’s drunk and plays Grateful Dead records too loud (that quotes comes in around page 137). SO Bill kinda overlaps with Mike for me. He also gets a lot of folk, country/country rock vibes. LOTS of songs about growing up and leaving past innocence behind because that’s his general thing. So again, Bill’s got artists like Don Henley, Grateful Dead, Jackson Browne etc under his umbrella. (His Playlist)

For Eddie, his taste was very interesting to gather!! First off, Eds mentions his collection of Barry Manilow records-actually, their Myra’s. He spent fiftreen hundred dollars on a sound-system so she wouldn’t miss a note on her ‘Supreme Greatest Hits’ album. BUT Eddie definitely loves Barry too, I have a post about this here.  Eddie also LOVES to go past the Neibolt Street Church school so that he can hear the Gospel music coming from inside. That’s actually one of my favorite Eddie traits!! I think that comes up around Chapter 7, ‘The Dam in the Barrens’. SO I tend to give Eddie softer things but some songs with edge. A lot of songs about having strength and pushing through. So he’s got artists like Barry, Billy Joel, Beatles etc. (His Playlist)

AND FINALLY RICHIE, this guy…..man. His whole personality is music. I made an older post about this here. Richie’s chapters are so FULL of music references, impressions etc. PLUS he grew up to be a disc jockey. He loves and mentions things like Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Jimi Hendirx, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, James Brown, and Paul Simon. ALSO you can’t forget the BIGGEST Richie + music thing, ‘The Richie Tozier All-Dead Rock Show’ around page 562. Music is so important to this man. Memories and such come to him as music references such as:  “What’s that Springsteen song say? Glory days…gone in the wink of a young girl’s eye. What young girl? Why, Bev, of course. Bev.” 

+ Richie’s chapters are full of this stuff. He LOVES Bruce Springsteen, The Beach Boys (LOVE the part in the mini series where he rolls up singing ‘I Get Around’), John Lennon, Paul Simon, Tom Petty and SO MUCH MORE. He is all about classic rock, it’s an insult to associate him with anything else other than classic rock. Plus Richie’s answering machine music is ‘Rock and Roll Girls’ by John Fogerty which leads to Mike saying:

“By the way, I liked the Creedance.” 

Richie laughed. “Shit, that ain’t Creedance, that’s ‘Rock and Roll Girls’ from Fogerty’s new album. ‘Centerfield’ it’s called, you haven’t heard any of it?” 

SO you know Richie is obsessed with music & isn’t afraid to correct people and talks about it ALL the time.

HiyaBeavs! Actually, you did tag everyone,fam. Me, Ly,Chels, Miki-chan, Nyka and Cloud. That’s everybody plus you now. It’s now seven of us now in the Garden fam with our respective Roses. And from the Garden ofRoses, Arrosa will soon be added to the Bouquet.

Asfor who else is in the Bouquet?

TheBouquet of Roses is a fan project started by me as my way of contributing somefanart of the Garden. It features the members of the Garden as characterswithin the universe of Bouquet. To be honest, it wasn’t originally meant to bean AU but it slowly turned into one; sort of, in the end. It’s based ona tiny premise:Oscar Pine is a magical prince witha bouquet and for every rose in that bouquet; it represents one of the girls inthe Garden ofRoses plus the canonical Ruby Rose.

Inthe universe of the Bouquet, Prince Oscar is our golden-yellow rose existingwithin his Kingdom of Light with his friends, the Roses and the Creatures of Luxx,Oscar’s own creations and pets. There is also the Broken Machines pairing of Prince Whitley, our Blue Rose andPrincess Penny,our Green Rose,who together with Oscar are part of the Rose Regalia that exist in the universeof the Bouquet.

That’sas much as I’m working with for the Bouquet. Just that simple premise and thecharacters. I already shared the first batch of refined character designs forthe Bouquet with Team FRHR (Rose, Hoody, Lindy and Ianthe) plus Ruby.

Comingsoon will be the second batch which will feature refined designs of PrinceOscar and his Luxx,  Prince Whitley,Princess Penny and finally our new Roses: Schatter, Tova and Arrosa in theirBouquet gowns. I’m currently on break from the Bouquet to work on another RWBYfan project called “The Most Beautiful Rose” for the Rosegardening Rosebuds. 

Butas soon as that’s done, it’s back to the Bouquet Part II. I may occasionally drop somerough sketches in the meantime though.

also lindy is not butch or femme she is Just Lindy. 

she very much does not subscribe to either label, and finds them, Personally, pigeonholey for her.*

if you Really wanted to give her a label in the presentation-behaviour-subculture regard, the Correctest ones, in order of most to least Correctness, would be ‘garconne,’ in the ‘young woman of the 1920s who rebelled against conventional ideas of ladylike behavior and dress’ sense, or ‘androgyne,’ if you want to call her a word people actually use today ; with ‘fop’ or ‘dandy’ close behind. she is Mayhamps decently masculine and definitely feminine, but she sees herself more in and i believe willingly emulates the overdelicate, sometimes consciously superficial feminine of effeminate [ gay ] men, most notably of the 18th century late-baroque court fashions and 1920s burlesque clubs than ~traditional~ Str8 Woman Feminine or Str8 Dude Masculine. she seems to really like this sort of Dandy Masculinity, with its feminine overlay on top, sort of. this doesn’t mean lindy wants to be a man, or is a man by any stretch just so we’re all on the same page.

she also sees herself in, but feels more of a Deep Kinship to, trouser roles in the opera. as said before in an earlier post lindy’s Gendre is 'opposite of man,’ but her gender, to a certain extent and more accurately, is also ‘trouser role in an opera.’ it’s ‘trouser role in an opera cosying up to a gorgeous lady monarch.’ essentially, lindy’s Looke is ‘dandy foppish masculine,’ with its masculine foundation and femininity layered on top, but also ‘trouser role’, in which people stop for a second to wonder whether or not she’s Really male or Female. 

lindy’s use of makeup and Ladielike demeanour and mannerisms does not make her a femme, but her decision to dress almost exclusively in menswear does not make lindy a butch either. lindy intentionally mixes Gender Symbols primarily through clothing, but also through behaviour ( ie Dykespreading and kissing the backs of women’s hands and bowing to them instead of curtsying in court ~Like A Man~, but possessing the warmth and charm and Outward Appearance of a ~Woman~, ) so she is not Explicitly categorised as either one.

peep the first third of the wardrobe section on her pinterest board for a clearer example of what i’m saying re clothing.

is her official title ‘lady?’ yes. is she feminine? sure. is she masculine? to a certain extent. is she gnc? through and through.

*not to say, of course, that butch / femme as a whole is pigeonholey in any sense: I Myself am a femme writing several butches and femmes i’m the LAST person to call my Own Subculture restrictive. but lindy has tried calling herself both labels and she found them to be restrictive. labels you pick for yourself are supposed to be helpful and feel natural and you shouldn’t feel pressured into the behaviour accompanying it. so butch / femme wasn’t for her.

now that the Overview’s out of the way, here’s Lindy’s House 2: Tastey Specifics editon!!!!!

( i’m gna try and do these in the order of each room, as though you were coming in from outside! )

lindy’s house is.....pretty much what you’d expect from someone like her imo. the building itself was built in about 1918-19ish, and it’s pretty much your standard-issue eclectically-decorated-but-Stylish and Cosy-but-Vibrant humanities academic pad. ie if you went there and visited while lindy wasn’t home without knowing anything about her, you’d probably be able to suss out 'bon vivant philologist with a wicked bad sweet tooth’ pretty easily.

i forgot to put this in the other post, but i don’t think lindy owns anything that Exactly Matches. she has stuff that complements or Attractive Opposites re colour and style, but very few Matching Sets.

her front door opens to a tiny landing and then Immediately there’s the little staircase to the bedrooms and bathrooms directly ahead of you, and to your right you’d see the kitchen and dining room. the Famed cosy living room is directly ahead and to your left.

because it’s the biggest room in the house, here’s its own Living Room Sub-Bullet:

three windows in the living room-- one bay window and two smaller ones on each wall i think.

excluding smaller furniture that Happens To Have Shelves on, there’s AT LEAST four bookshelves, two big and two smaller.

there’s a Great Big Fancy Dictionary on a stand next to the biggest bookshelf, and there’s a Great Big Fancy Globe, made of semiprecious stones on an old-fashioned stand as well. probably on the other end of the same bookshelf w the dictionary. 

there’s one huge couch and it’s some kind of wacky colour like lime green or orange. there are two or three similarly Eye-Popping armchairs nestled beside and some ottomans, as well as one random kitchen chair next to a bookshelf. 

her Common Area TV is either on the wall or in a repurposed armoire. it’s a middle-of-the-road flat-screen, and it’s probably big and a couple years old but not Super Outdated. i think she’s got cable w movie channels and shite but probably not a Fancy Streaming Service.

there’s also a Vintage record player lindy doesn’t use ( and a few records lindy doesn’t play ) for The Looke. 

her kitchen is also small, but lindy doesn’t seem to be much of a cook so it’s fine. there’s a smaller table with mismatched chairs, a similarly Gently-Used brushed-steel fridge and Okay cupboards i suppose.

 absolutely NO matching dishes or kitchenware. none. not a one.

 there’s also a half-bathroom here and a working dumbwaiter her cat( ? ) likes to hide inside. 

lindy’s dining room is BEAUTIFUL and has a table big enough for a cosy dinner party. it’s antique from the 1910s and has the only table with a matching set of chairs. there’s also a chandelier and glassware cabinet with glasses lindy doesn’t touch.

there’s a little closet inside the staircase and it holds her washer and dryer.

upstairs are the bathrooms, lindy’s room and two guest rooms, and lindy’s ‘’’’home’’’’ ‘’’’office.’’’’ more about lindy’s room and  ‘’’’home’’’’ ‘’’’office’’’’ in another post.

there’s a fire escape that goes down past lindy’s bedroom and the living room. she sits on it to smoke and ~Brood~ and read anne rice Tittie Vampire erotica.

she does have an awesome bluetooth speaker setup she adores, so there’s music playing in her house most of the time.

oh also i’ve decided i’m being too nice to lindy by putting her in ri. she Actually works at dartmouth, which is in Bumfuck Nowhere rural new hampshire with very little by way of Actual Civilisation around her. the nearest town is tiny and quiet, and the nearest city ( boston ) two hours away by Person Transport and half an hour at LEAST by Faerie Transport. :^)

 margot and lindy are more alike than you might think. on a surface level, they’re both tiny, both talkative charming supernatural gals with distinct vintage styles, both uh. tend to go into most situations thinking they’re the smartest person in the room. 

but internally, they’re complements, or opposite sides of the same adorable coin: both are BIG HUGE FEELERS, but for different reasons. whenever i think of how lindy approaches emotions, the first word that comes to mind is ‘Grand.’ i think Grand like a swelling orchestra, Grand like burgundy velvet and gold, Grand like romeo shouting ‘I DEFY YOU STARS!!!!!1!!!!!111!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!′ Grand. i think both of them feel each emotion Very Much, but margot comes to emotional extremes much faster than lindy, and has a far shorter fuse than her. margot spends a lot of time inside her own heart and emotions, if that makes sense, and lindy is much more of the people person who probably spends more time mirroring the emotions of other people. 

lindy is also much more the adept socialiser than margot. margot is a talkative genius and that makes her charming in her own way, i think, but she’s not like. Actually Good at socialising. she just talks a lot. lindy is more likely to come off as Immediately Likeable than margot as well-- you’re more likely to find her Fun and pleasant to be around when you meet her for the first time, while the Average Person usually finds margot annoying and pushy in a first introduction instead. 

lindy is also a lot proner to excess than margot. her ‘tendency to extremes’ tend to skew her in the direction of ‘life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!’ she tends to be super self-indulgent for the sake of it, which is why she has a wicked bad sweet tooth and loves a good Royal Ball or fifty. margot tends to extremes, but she’s not Work Hard Play Hard like lindy. don’t get me wrong, margot does impulse-purchase the odd minnie mouse keychain and besame lipstick here and there, but she’s not a partier, or even much of a drinker, and she’s not particularly inclined to Treat Herself just because the mood strikes her. what would technically be ~Indulgences~ that margot partakes in are pretty few and far between--having her nails done every two weeks, going to disneyland every couple months, clothes and makeup shopping every couple months. even though she’s technically got the money to buy whatever she wants at will, she doesn’t.....feel the need to, for the most part. ( which makes her pretty okay with finances, while lindy is uh. Dubiously Not. )

All Of Them. especially anything outlandish, cute, or silly ( here are some ideas, ) anything stuffed into a waffle cone and smothered in fudge, those taiwanese bubble-wrap waffle dishes going round and anything indigenous to a certain region she’s travelled to, because she is a Sagittarius Wanderer at heart. oh did you mean SAVOURY food? because in that case uhhh probably anything meatless and fancy. she is partial to orange ‘’’’chicken’’’’ and ‘’’’fricasee.’’’’ fruits.   black cherries!!!!!! drinks.  milkshakes ( duh, ) frappuccinos ( breakfast milkshakes, ) Very Sweet Coffee, shirley temples, cherry seltzer. alcoholic beverages ?  her One True Luv will always b a good True Golden Rum. she is also partial to champagne, ( Surprise, ) prosecco and sauvignon blanc if she HAS to.

oh shit lindy definitely has some skill at confidence tricks from being an emissary and like. being paid to do pr for the fae court and also being paid to, You Know, Litcherally Make People Like her...........

Talking of L3sley M4nville Lindy is uh. Not Into dark chocolate, unless it’s coupled alongside something like peanut butter, caramel, raspberry or cherry. Dark chocolate is usually very bitter in comparison to milk or white, and Lindy’s faerie taste buds are into its rich texture but do NOT like its bitterness.

i also struggle to make a coherent piece on lindy’s like. gender and why she dresses and acts the way she does. but i know a lot of it probably comes from lindy being mistaken for a young man from time to time ( especially when she looked younger and especially without any makeup ) and not knowing if she’s ‘’’’male’’’’ or ‘’’’’female’’’’’’ and like. that’s fine by her. 

like we’re both aware that it can be super distressing for other people and that’s understandable, but like. That’s Fine by her. i don’t think lindy sees herself as necessarily male or female, but instead as the Opposite Of Male, kinda androgynous, and like. Vaguely female, if that makes sense. like you know greta garbo as queen christina? ( !!!!!!!!! ) that’s what makes her see herself.

since apparently its LindyCanon evening i would also like to draw attention to an unfortunate habit The Lady falls prey to. 

tangenitally related to her unfortunate practice of drawing out the Nonexclusive dating phase, lindy sort of. Dates Backwards. 

‘what does that mean pb?’ i’m glad you asked!! this means she might take you to a party or something for your first date because that’s the sort of person she is, but for your sort of. Incremental Dates in your relationship, she’ll probably take you somewhere where you can be alone together, though not necessarily SO private as a ~Night In~. probably like an expensive cafe or a monument or some shit. she is strongly drawn to people as Individuals and she is a Romantique, so she wants to get to know you personally and build a relationship in beautiful surroundings. beauty x2 if you will.

but, as the two of you become more and more exclusive, lindy will try and steer dates you go on to be progressively less and less intimate, instead of the other way round ( ie less intimate dates first because you don’t know a person and then more intimate as you get to know them. ) as the two of you grow closer, she’ll take you to more parties, to a ball, to an opera, an orchestra playing live. 

‘that’s weird, why does she do that?’ well, because, um. for all her Huge Grand Feelings and her ‘I Embrace My Huge Grand Emotions’ mantra, lindy is. kind of a coward lol. she is warming up her passive-aggressive muscles at me for saying that, but as her feelings for the woman she’s seeing grow deeper and harder to ignore, by going on dates that are more public and / or less intimate, then she has the option of escaping into the crowd and. Literally run away from the heavy emotional stuff if she feels like you’re gonna try and have the ‘so. What Is This, Lindy. What Are We Doing’ Talk. she can just say she needs to ‘consider it’ or she ‘needs some air’ or whateva and disappear into a crowd. maybe hole up outside with a cigarette and gold rum. maybe just up and go home and then text you the next morning with the nicest, most charming apology she can muster. the more she likes you, the less private your dates will become.

oh also i have to add this to her like. Coherent Powers list but lindy is Most Proficient with a bow and arrow. she is also great with a dagger, a rapier / any sort of like Light Fancy Sword and a crossbow as well.
